Patient Controller NR - US App Description & Overview

What is patient controller nr - us app? This Patient Controller NR app is for use with Abbott non-rechargeable (NR) devices, such as Proclaim™ SCS systems, Proclaim™ DRG therapy, and Infinity™ DBS systems.

The NeuroSphere™ Patient Controller NR app was developed by Abbott for people living with chronic pain and neurologic disorders who are treated by Abbott neuromodulation devices. This application helps patients conveniently manage the programs prescribed by their physicians and uses Bluetooth® wireless technology to communicate between the implanted stimulator and the Patient Controller NR app. The Patient Controller NR app runs on Abbott recommended devices (as mentioned below) and is easy to use, while the wireless interface provides patients the convenience of managing prescribed stimulation settings from a familiar iOS device.

Some of the key functions available for patients include:

- Turn stimulation ON/OFF
- Select stimulation programs for changing therapy needs
- Adjust stimulation amplitude
- Check device battery
- Turn on MRI mode for MR Conditional systems
- Activate and de-activate Surgery Mode

In addition, NeuroSphere™ Virtual Clinic on the Patient Controller NR app enables users to connect with their clinicians for routine programming adjustments remotely. Patients no longer need to visit the clinic for adjustments to their prescribed stimulation settings. Secure in-app video chat enables telehealth sessions directly from within the PC application.

An update for new phones would be nice. For an app that you really need to have on hand at all times, not being able to have it on your personal phone because you got a nice new phone is really annoying. So now I’m back to carrying an iPod around with me that serves no other purpose than to run this app. Please make an update for the newer phones. You’re like 4 models out on iPhones…. It’s time.

I wish I could give a Zero. I’ve never given a review as bad as I’m about to give. Those of us that have these stimulators rely HEAVILY on them, some us to the point so we can get out of bed. And yet you can’t keep this app from crashing? Mine crashed over this weekend unfortunately when I didn’t have my backup remote with me, and as a result it’s caused massive pain for me. Daily life altering pain, but as long as you got your money from the company for development, you don’t really care about the patient’s well being right? Shame on you. I guess that’s my fault for hoping I would be able to have the convenience of not having to carry multiple devices anymore, but you can’t keep a MEDICAL app running.

Not updated to iOS. I almost had to cancel a procedure because I forgot my iPod since I can no longer connect with my phone. It used to work perfectly with my phone but when you update your iPhone it is incompatible. Now I rarely adjust my stimulator and have significantly been utilizing my implant less. This is so frustrating because i always have my phone and when I got the stimulator it worked on my phone. Few months later it doesn’t work at all and I’m told I have to revert to an older iOS for it to work? I’m not going to do that just for this app. PLEASE UPDATE THE APP TO WORK WITH THE CURRENT IOS.

App stopped working on my iPhone 11 after the latest iPhone update. I’m still having to get the right program to help my back, always using the app to check the adjustment on my phone, now that’s not working, this should have already been corrected, I’ve called my rep and he always takes a couple of days to call back, the implant is not doing what I expected, I am really disappointed!!!!!!!

IOS update killed my App. My rep encouraged me to use the app so I didn’t have to carry the iPod. While I’ve had this for a few months, the app has been beneficial as I’ve been able to adjust accordingly as I continue to get stronger. Why would their be an app not compatible with the updates? I was forced to update because of my banking app. Had I have known that this update would kill this app, I wouldn’t have done the update to begin with as I don’t do them automatically. Fix this app! It’s imperative for patients to have access and when the reps encourage us to use the app, it needs to work with all updates accordingly. Two stars, because prior to the update issue, I liked the app, it was easy to use… now it’s a whole new level of frustrating.

Doesn’t Work With iOS 15. I just got my new stimulator and the iPod that came with it won’t run the app on iOS 15. For some odd reason, even though my iPhone 6s Plus is running software 15.0.2, it is allowing the app to run. Obviously I’m extremely grateful for that as my pain was excruciating before the device and now is 95% gone. However, I’d rather use the iPod to control the device and not my phone. When will a new version of this software be available to make it work properly???? I mean come on, this is people’s health and lives you are messing with when this app doesn’t work correctly. Please, please, please come out with an updated version so it will work with the newest iOS software!!!!

New iPhone 15 not compatible. I recently traded in my IPhone 11 and purchased the IPhone 15. Much to my dismay when I went into the patient controller app, it said it was not compatible with my IPhone 15. This is very concerning and when I contacted Abbott, they acknowledged the issue but had no time frame for when an upgrade to the app would be available. I am working with them to get insurance approval for an older phone but it is unbelievable to me that they can’t keep up with necessary upgrades in a timely manner. I am not a happy customer, Abbott.

3 Stars for Now. I have tried to use this app for over a year now, and it continually crashes when opened. After the last update, it appears that issue (incompatibility with IOS) has finally been resolved. It hasn't crashed once since the update. I will post again in a few months and hopefully give it a five star rating. As of now, I recommend you try it.

A year later and still not compatible with 12 pro Max. Why was the iPhone 12 Pro Max not included with the other iPhone 12 models last year when an update was done to include them? Makes zero sense. And a year later they still haven’t included it? I’ve had my implant since 2018 and my iPod has to be charged 3 times a day at this point. Plus it’s extremely inconvenient to have to carry an additional device, especially when all they wooo is d need to do is send an update to fix this.

App fix for crashing controller app.. For those that have a broken controller app, it is VERY EASY to fix. Contact your abbot / St Jude representative and ask him/her to give you instructions on how to reset your generator. I’d post directions here but it’s way more important you contact your abbot representative and get instructions from them. I have the instructions and it takes me less then 20 seconds to reset my generator. This time includes generator reset, downloading app, adding generator back in app. After generator has been reset, delete controller app, add back app to my phone and then add generator back to app. Very easy to learn and very easy to implement until the app is fully compliant with ios15. Generator settings are on your generator so nothing is lost by deleting app in my experiences. Yes, this is extra steps but until an app is released that is stable, you can get full use of the iPhone app by fixing it yourself and not resort to using the iPod. Lastly, after you get app fixed, do NOT force close app. With app being unstable, if you force close the app, that breaks the app and you will end up doing above. The crashing app fix is possible so work with your representative.

Unsupported iPhone. After waiting 9 months for an update and for more compatible iOS devices. Abbott dropped the ball again with its latest update version 3.10. They made the iPhone 12 Pro compatible but not the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Makes absolutely no sense. So now more than likely I will have to wait another 9 months for another update so I can use my iPhone 12 Pro Max instead of having to carry around an additional $1200 apple product that Abbott charges for just to use as a remote.

Need for 12 pro max. iPod is dying and I NEED this app on my phone to be able to access and make adjustments based on my activity levels. Unfortunately, it remains unavailable for my 12 Pro Max or for any newer phone. So I can’t use it with my current phone, I can’t get a new phone it will work with, and I can’t just buy a new iPod. Honestly, if access to my implant settings doesn’t improve, I’m going to have to make a difficult choice when my battery dies and might not decide to get a new implant that I won’t be able to easily access to adjust the settings.

PLEASE UPDATE THIS APP!!! App is too important to ignore. i just upgraded to the bluetooth version just in-time for the app to not be working. Come on support team. You have a strong, respectable business name, ABBOTT. Now stand behind that name and put your best support techs on this issue to resolve it. I didn't just spend 10,000 to be in The same boat that i was before. By having to caring around a ipod instead of using my iPhone. So I still have to caring around a second device to program my stimulator instead of just using my iphone, which i carry everywhere anyways. Completely Unacceptable!!

Lack of inidiviualization. Three issues I have with this programming. The first is that I can’t make notes on each individual program, or make custom names myself so that I can remember if I like a certain program or not. The second, is I can’t see which contacts are active or not. I must wait until I meet with a representative or my physician to know if there’s an impedance issue, which there has been, and it’s been an issue in getting appropriate care. Third, what’s the point of there being an image of a body if I can’t see where the stimulator is supposedly activating? I should be able to customize where I feel the stimulator or where I feel relief from the stimulator. For example, when my stimulator is on tonic, I should be able to customize on the image of the body where I feel the stimulator sensation. Finally, I wish that there was an option for a timer so that I could put the program in tonic and have it automatically switch back to another program rather than just turning off. I’ve had too many instances where I’ve put it in tonic for a period of time, fell asleep and ultimately had the stimulator be off for several hours. In 2022, I feel it’s a realistic expectation of a program to be able to do this. ultimately though. I would like the ability to make notes on the given program so that I can remember which is which, and why I like a certain program. I don’t think this is too much to ask.

Use iPod Touch as No 12 Pro Max Support. The stimulation device is great. It’s doing it’s job. I’m thankful that my company rep, supplied me with a new iPod Touch that’s never been updated. It’s amazing and worth others to consider and to solve issues with new IOS and phone issues. I wish the company would push updates quicker. I’ve been told they have to be approved by the FDA, I’m not sure if that’s true or just a line. But St Jude, please post a message to us users about your phone support. Tell us to never update without talking to you first! Now: It’s sad to have to carry around an two device just to get this critical application to work. Thank you

Why 3rd party ads? Tracking location?. Please tell me why a medical implant requires you to give permission for location, pictures, documents, browsing history, cookies, and requires me to agree to accept 3rd party ads? Tech support said initially I agreed to it when it was first turned on. Ummm no I didn’t. You did on my IPod. I was in surgery and I didn’t set it up initially. Since it has been nothing but trouble since I have had it I am planning on having it taken out. Doesn’t hurt them any. They already got paid. What an embarrassment to the medical field.

15 update. I have the 11 pro max and have had my implant since May , the app shut down with the update . I was able to call Abbott and they walked me through the reinstall and re setting my implant in less then 10 minutes with the best customer service I have ever received ! If you are having issues I would advise calling Abbott and having them walk you through , it was a simple process.

So frustrating!. I just recently updated my iPhone and now this app does not work on my new phone so frustrating so I had to go back to the original I pad they gave me and it does not hold a charge. Every time I go to use it it’s always dead and I have to charge it before I can use it, please update this app to the new I phone! when you don’t feel good and you have to fumble with different iPads and things. It’s very frustrating. I wish my doctor would have used a more up-to-date stimulator so I wouldn’t have this problem. We live in a computer world now I don’t understand why this can’t be a quick fix.

Wow, iPhone 13 has been out for over a year and app won’t run on it. How long does it take to update the app? I can’t run the app on iPhone 13 even though that phone has been available to the public for over a year…. What’s the problem? The phone certainly can run the app but the devs are mental. Why have a hard coded white list? The only benefit is to keep the developers always having a job. This really is dumb. But what’s dumber is that you are paying these developers to play you!!! Wake up Abbott.

iPhone 11 Not Supported. I have had my Neurostimulator implant for almost 3 years now and I was so happy to see that I would be able to just download the app on my own iPhone and wouldn’t need to have a separate iPod too to be able to control my programs on the iPod. So when I went to go download the app it was then a rather big disappointment because iPhone 11 was NOT supported! I have an iPhone 11 and I know I’m not the only one that’s in this same predicament. So could you PLEASE just make the iPhone 11 compatible with the SJM app ASAP as that would be VERRRYYYY HELPFUL!!!

iPhone 12 Pro Max Support. I have been using the patient controller app for a long time. I have been using the iPod touch that came with it because originally iPhones were not allowed. Recently iPhone were cleared for use in the patient controller. However, they added every recent model but the iPhone that I own! I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and it’s really frustrating! Will it support new phones when they come out? If the app isn’t updated regularly I may switch to another, better supported, stimulator.

Phone update. I check this app every so often to see if it has been updated to and of the newer iPhones. Unfortunately it has not been. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and it is not compatible. Being that I love to travel and often go out of the country on mission trips I would love to see an update soon. This device has helped me tremendously with my daily functions but adjusting it on the fly is hard when you have to dig out the iPod or forgot it. Soon I hope to see warm weather and get out my motorcycles and would love to see an update by then. I can only give 2 stars in that I can not use it but the people at st Jude’s tell me that it is nice to have. If you update your system I will update my stars. Please contact me if you do update I my even buy a new phone but look at the list of phones first! Lol thank you.

Shame on you Abbott. Abbott has left those of us with non-rechargeable devices behind. The way finally updated the app, and said it will work with an iPhone 14 series phone, but it still does not work on my 14 Pro. This is terrible patient care. Shame on you Abbott. I’m not asking for new features, just update the app to work with current phones or allow those of us with non-rechargeable devices to use the new app. It is not a huge ask considering the price of the medical device I am carrying around in my back.

Software Update - Not Compatible. I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and my app was working just fine until this iOS 15 update. I just had my implant 2 weeks ago, so there’s still a lot of fine tuning that’s being done with the settings on my stimulator. To do the fine tuning, I obviously need access to the app! My app has stopped working on my iPhone and on the iPod because of the update. Anytime I want to adjust the settings, I have to uninstall and reinstall the app and then reconnect with my magnet. This only works on my iPhone app, not on the iPod app. My iPod app will no longer connect to my generator, even with the magnet reset. Kind of scary that we have an implant in our bodies that we can’t control because of incompatibility of software issues. This also constitutes and unsafe device, as we have no control over it.

Class action lawsuit???. Why can’t this company make the app work with all phones. To have to carry the dumb iPod to control a implant is beyond me when I have a iPhone XS Max and can’t control my device this tefexts so bad on your company the unwillingness to pay someone to make the app work with all current devices and not force patients to by a device that will work your lack of support is beyond concerning especially with a medical device!!!! It’s beyond obvious the inaction of the company not updating the app they don’t even show if you buy a new iPhone it will work!! ?? Beyond more than obvious that they don’t care just put a reply contact us and ignore. It’s like the cruelest joke ever!!!!

needs to be updated. this app is horrible. takes forever to load my device. Why in the world are they doing updates and not adding more compatible devices. so tired of carrying around a ipod to use my device. i don’t want a second device let me use my phone i already own!!!! i just can’t understand why they have been 2 years behind on device compatibility. they blame the “magnet” in the iphone max but i literally put my phone in my back pocket all day everyday and it never interferes with my stimulator so i call bull on that excuse. i got my device outside of st jude through a private neurosurgeon and have the same issues with incompatibility as everyone else. worst part is neurosurgeon moved across the country and can’t update the programs in ipod as no other dr will go near the device as they didn’t implant it. and won’t let abbott reps in their office to allow me to get updated programs. worst situation ever. i have a $300,000 surgery for a device i can’t even use.

Won’t work. Come on St Jude! I have an iPhone 12 Pro. You say it will work yet says it is incompatible with my phone. Please repair this problem. I really don’t like having to carry two iPhones to have to run my Stim unit. Please take care of this, we’ve already paid thousands to use your product, the least you can do is let us use our own phones! I can’t afford the $900 to buy an old very outdated iPhone mini when I can use a brand new phone for little $. Get with the times and fix this issue!!’

UPDATE TO CURRENT iPHONE. When will the software be updated to support the newest iPhones??? I switched to iPhone from Samsung so I would not have to carry 2 devices and now that’s the boat I’m in…I would have kept my Samsung had I know this was gonna happen I’d kept my Samsung. I’m very disappointed especially since there is now a new iPhone out and I’m debating go with it or just go back to Samsung cause who knows how long it will be before the app be able to work on the most up to date software.

Update. My husband went out and bought me an iPhone 14 so I could have the most up-to-date iPhone the main reason he did. This was so that I could receive the patient control alarm that was available on the older iPhones. I traded it from a Google pixel to an iPhone 14 just for this purpose. However, the iPhone 14 is not compatible with this program. The iPad that I have is Ancient and has a hard time connecting with my generator constantly and it's probably the fact that the iPod is an ancient technology, so it does not receive the same signals as most things. Please update so that I only have to walk around with one controller and not have to keep up with an extra controller. As I said, he did this to make my life easier so that I was not carrying around two things. I have memory loss and it is hard for me to keep up with my phone much less a controller as well. Please Help.

Slow to update device compatibility. The app does its job, but only when it works on the device you own. I don’t have another single app that doesn’t stay current with devices and operating system. And most of those are not critical apps. This is the controller for my healthcare device and it is inexcusable to not maintain it. If you are considering an implanted device, be sure to go with a company that is going to stay diligent and committed to maintaining it.

Doesn’t work. I wish I could give zero stars. I use this app for spinal stimulator, but it constantly crashes. I’m causing myself for pain by constantly reconnecting with the magnet bc the app crashes constantly, and then I have to delete the app then download the app over and over again. I can’t use the iPod I was given bc the sales rep put a locking password on it, never gave me the password, and now he no longer works there. Please keep up with the newest tech bc this stimulator was supposed to help take away the pain from CRPS, not cause me more pain from constantly using the magnet which takes quite a long time digging with it in my back to even find the correct location for my phone to connect with. Please fix.

Abbott Needs to MAKE IT RIGHT!. I became very interested in the Proclaim XR SCS after trying conventional methods to deal with my back pain. I spoke with my doctor and also reps from Abbott and learned at that time that there was support almost 24/7 if there was a problem. I decided that this was definitely a win win situation if it helps with the pain. I did the trial and then had it installed about one month ago only to learn that Abbott just changed their support policy so if you need help on the weekends or after hours, you are out of luck until the next business day. There is also an app for your phone so you don't need to carry the i-pod around with you BUT this app can ONLY be used by ólder phones and Abbott is at least 2 + years behind in getting the new model phones approved by the FDA which they blame on the FDA. I would have considered another company if I knew up front about these problems. It's time for this company to do the right thing and help their patients especially with the money that is being charged for the SCS!

Not supporting the newer iPhone stinks. I have the XS max - they support the X but not xs . The iPod they supply is old enough it doesn’t support current iOS - so you can’t share hotspot with a current iPhone. I was happy when I read iPhone was going to be supported- turns out you need a phone older then 2018 . The iPod has a standby battery life measured in hours - you have to charge the thing twice a day even with very little use . Most of the time when I need to adjust my pain management device the battery is dead . Why in the world can’t they support iPhones?

Battery percentage. So I’ve had my implant for almost 3 years now. The version of this app at that point had an actual level for battery consumption (ie green, yellow, red) which was really helpful. Since then it’s changed to a green check mark. It literally makes no sense why you would do that. How am I supposed to know what level my battery is at and when it’s gonna die so I can contact my doctor?? If anything, you just downgraded the app. I guess I’ll know when it dies when I wake up in the morning wanting to cut my leg off. Please fix it! Until then, I’m leaving my rating at 1 star.

Review. I have been using the app for many years as well. Even before they started using iPods. Trust me, the IPod is MUCH easier to use. No more wearing a belt and waiting hours for the stim to charge. Yes it sucked having to have surgery, again, to replace the rechargeable battery but I’d do it again if I didn’t need to recharge. I assume a previous reviewer had not so great medical insurance. Mine is Medicare and I was given the IPod. When the iPod had issues, my support person got it replaced asap. As far as the app updates go, I could care less if it is updated as long as my stim is working as it should!

iPhone 13 Issues Update. Had this controller working fine on my iPhone 12. Upgraded to the new iPhone 13. App will not work now. It says “unsupported device”. App still does not support an iPhone 13 with IOS 15 firmware. They have made no attempt to fix this issue. Sad that a company this large does not take patient users support seriously. I definitely would not recommend them to others considering a stimulator.

Unacceptable that it is not compatible with ANY of the new iOS systems. Seems to me this is a business move on their part and I would have expected much more from St. Jude. Perhaps not Abbott as they are well known for their kickbacks and underhanded financial ‘incentives’ in the medical community. Seems a sure fire way to significantly increase the odds that patients will require a replacement iPod at $1200 a pop. Worst patient care service I’ve ever received. The representatives that were at the hospital were rude and unhelpful. Never was i presented with any written info or directions on the burst scs device and now this. Had I understood all this, I would have explored other options. Not an upstanding company and certainly not one who puts the needs of patients first.

iPhone XR-Excellent app!. I am so thankful that I don’t have to carry my iPod with me all the time. I can do everything with the iPhone app that I could do with the provided iPod! The phone’s Bluetooth connects to the implant just as quickly, if not quicker. The only thing I would change is to give an actual percentage left on the implanted battery. It would be nice to have the information to know if I should contact my surgeon to schedule replacement when that time comes. This is true particularly when medical appointments are not quick or easy to get due to the current pandemic. If that were available, I would give this app the full 5 stars. However not having access to see the actual remaining battery level (which was included on the app when I got my implant) on my non-rechargeable makes me worry that I will not have adequate warning leaving me without the only consistent source of relief over the past 3+ years.

B/C of lack of support for modern iPhones, causing me pain.. Have to explain the title of this review: since Abbott refuses to update the app to run on modern iPhones, I have to control my neurostimulator with an iPod. Ridiculous. Yesterday my device rep asked me to turn off the devices as we were trying to adjust settings due to growing pain. That was a mistake as I went to lay down in my bed—which is upstairs. The pain became unbearable and I texted the device rep, who immediately told me to turn on the device. But the controller was downstairs. It took me 20 minutes to make it down the stairs to get to the iPod. Abbott: your failure to update literally caused me incredible pain—which is a greater liability than if you simply kept the app up to date. Shame on you. If I could do it over again, I’d choose another neurostimulator produced by a company other than Abbott.

Doesn’t work on iPhone 12 Pro Max. When I first got my stimulator nearly two years ago I had an iPhone 8 and was able to use the app instead of carrying around an iPod as well. Around six months later I got an iPhone 12 Pro Max and realized the app wasn’t compatible. The 11 pro max has been added but why not the 12? Im really sick of carrying around an iPod in addition to my phone when the app should have no problems functioning on this phone.

Frustrating, to say the least. It seems crazy that this App isn’t up to date to work with current iPhones. I had iPhone 12, not compatible, now IPhone 13, not compatible. So I need to carry around the iPod controller and my iPhone. More than once I’ve misplaced the controller and had to go searching through backpacks, bags and my car in search of it when I’ve needed the program reevaluated. It’s just another thing to get lost. Seeing that it’s a medical device & program, one would think Abbott would stay up to date on making sure the App works on current iPhones. Frustrating.

Abbott Customer Service. The previous review is spot on. I wish I had done more research prior to getting the Abbott stimulator. It is working fine. The problem is with the poor instructions in the beginning. They gave me instructions while I was still sedated and I didn’t even remember the Abbott representative being there. It took a week before anyone contacted me with proper instructions. They then said they “were being nice to me to make up for the poor service they previously gave.” The I pod isn’t compatible with my I phone so I have to have both an iPod for the Abbott stimulator and my I phone. It wasn’t working so I had to travel to another city on a plane without it. Upon arrival my nephew had to reach a customer service rep who walked him through connecting the iPod to the stimulator. It took several reps to finally have the stimulation set up correctly. Again no apologies. Boston Scientific does a much better job with great customer relations. I tell anyone who is interested to research all possible and not to use Abbott. Amen.

Disgraceful support. Comment after comment lament the incompatibility with the recent ios update. Each response simply says more info is needed and gives an id for the complaint to be made. Why? What more info could be needed? More importantly, do we all need to complain and file the same complaint? The problem should be pretty obvious at this point. Due to failure to stay abreast of developments your customers are forced to choose between accepting recommended updates for our privacy or to have this very expensive, intrusive, and necessary product workable. Abbot can and should do better. If support was actually a priority such reviews would never be necessary.

Limited devices application works with!. I have had a neuro-stimulator for one year now. I own an iPhone 13 pro max and the SJM Application does not work with any of the “Max” iPhones due to the magnet in the phone, which can impact the pulse device (turn it on/off, if close to the device for 30seconds or more). I feel this should be resolved and by now. I have to carry a phone and iPod; too much to keep track of and carry, when “some” phones can do both. I need the large screen, so I guess I’m stuck with carrying both until Abbott gets on the ball, maybe shielding the generator or changing the strength of the magnet needed to reset the device… they are the experts, they should be fielding these issues! Great results, poor execution of patient interface.

Terrible company. Update… Like many of you I received the we would like more info message. I have submitted this info, info that was already conveyed by many of the reviews on this App. I received an email back and it contained no info but rather referenced a different Abbott product. Fed up with the lack of service or patient care by this company. I will advise my doctor of this issue as well as anyone looking to have a spinal stimulator implant that a unit from a different company would be a better option. Anyone up for a class action lawsuit against abbot to make them provide a reliable controller? If interested review this app and say as much. I will post my contact information then and we can work together for a resolution.

IPhone 13 is not supported. It’s extremely irritating that this app doesn’t work on my new iPhone 13, which I didn’t know before I got the 13. How hard is it to keep up with the new phones that are coming out frequently. And after not using the iPods as the controller for two years, they won’t pair with either generator. As a result, I can’t turn on the cervical device. And when I have surgery next week, I won’t be able to turn off the lumbar device. Hopefully the rep will be able to meet me before the surgery and take care of this mess.

App not up to date. I’ve just gotten a Spinal cord stimulator that the program uses the IOS platform. However, either Apple or Abbott isn’t updating the IOS to match new phones that come out. My phone is a 13, and it’s not compatible with the app. I have to not only carry my phone as always, but now I have to also carry an IPod touch so I can access my device. This is truly ridiculous thatAbbott can not keep this app updated. The Abbott reps even tell you that “as long as you have an IPhone, you can access the program” but, they give you the iPod touch also. They know that the last update to add additional IPhone series hasn’t been released or updated. If I would’ve known this i. The beginning I would have gone to a different company all together. It’s so disheartening that a company as large as Abbott can’t or won’t update the app and keep it current.

Please update the system. Please understand that some of the customers may not change their phones very often, so stay committed to ensuring you system supports all generations of iPhones, including the iPhone 12 Pro Max. We hope you are in process of updating our system to ensure that it is compatible with the newest iPhone model. In the meantime, I hope you offering your customers technical support for their existing iPhones, as well as providing information about the new features and capabilities of the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

iPhone 11 Not Supported - Abbott, it's time to wake up. Unfortunately, I've been using this app for many years as both St Jude and Abbott. One would think the developers would ensure the app remains up to date with all current iOS devices due to the importance of the app's functionality with the Patients Stimulator. However, this is not the case with St Jude; now Abbott. Considering how much they're selling the Stimulators and iPods for, a compatible app isn't too much to ask but yet, we still pay $1,200 for a replacement iPods due to Abbott's failure to maintain the app. Honestly, there are a few other companies who provide Stimulators which I encourage you to explore with your Surgeon. I would have given only one Star but Abbott's tech support staff has been helpful. Abbott, it's time to invest in your company by ensuring the apps which control our Stimulators are up to date with the most current iOS and the associated devices. As of now, you are failing your Patients and the Doctors who place their trust and reputation in your hands. It's time for change.

Great stimulator/Horrible App. I’ve had the spinal cord stimulator since March 2022. It has been so helpful for my pain…. when it works. The app just randomly quits working. I have to check it daily to make sure it’s on and working. It also randomly changes the strength I have it set on. It is a garbage app and needs to be fixed ASAP. Oh, and now I’ve been contacted by Abbott about a RECALL because the app won’t stay in MRI mode? That would be comical if it wasn’t actually dangerous! The 73 people that have been injured by this would definitely not find it funny. This company needs to make some serious changes on the app before more people are injured. Shame on you Abbott! There have consistently been so many bad reviews on this app but no updates or changes have been made to fix the issues. What’s it gonna take to get it fixed and working properly? What is the threshold of injuries that is okay?

Worked well on my old phone. I used it on my SE 2nd edition, which was nice. I upgraded my phone to the iPhone 13 and now I can’t use the app. Back to the old iPod that came with the stimulator…. Seems they could keep up with the new iPhone updates!

App will not work at all with new Apple updated software. My app won’t work and I had zero control over the stimulator. With no ETA of when the problem is going to be resolved. So I’m left with do I use the magnet to turn it off and go back to being in constant pain or have the stimulator run at the max setting that it went to on its own, which caused a whole other slew of problems….. Zero support, no answers, no nothing….

3 year old phone is latest supported. Not only does my stimulator barely give relief, this app only supports up to iPhone 22, released almost 3 years ago. I got my stimulator a year ago and they put in the one NOT compatible with their new app, which supports current phones. I switched from a Boston Scientific implant in part so I wouldn’t have to carry a remote. Now I have to carry the iPod or just continue to use an old phone. Ridiculous.

Update please!. I keep checking as I have the iPhone 13 and was told the update would be available by May and it’s still not updated so we can use our phone with the proclaim and don’t want to have to carry my iPod around . It’s so inconvenient and it would be nice if they would keep us in the loop when this app will be available to the newer phones!!

Compatibility and update so it can operate on ios12. Make compatible to iPhone so users don't have to carry two devices for those that use iPhone, push out update include all current iPhones on the market

Needs ability to schedule on and off cycles. It would be nice if there was a way to schedule which hour to turn on and which hour to turn off. The sleep timer is good to use at bedtime but there’s the possibility the patient could forget to turn the SCS back on until the pain returns.

iPhone 15 Pro Max not supported. So I bought the new iPhone to replace my iPhone 12 Pro, and now the app to control my spinal stimulator is not compatible with my new phone. This is ridiculous! Please update the app immediately to accommodate the new iPhones. I’m writing this while sitting in my pain management doctors office.

Updates to newer iPhone’s and IPods. When are you going to make this app compatible with newer iPhone's and IPod’s? When I got my stimulator at least two years ago it wasn’t compatible with my phone and I’ve been hoping there would have been an update to this app so I didn’t have to carry around a separate “remote” for my stimulator.

WE NEED AN UPDATE! And we need it years ago.. Many people are begging you for an update. Including myself. Why do you refuse to answer us? Please tell us why you refuse to update a critical app that is years out of date? Are people with CRPS not going through enough without the stress of being forced to carry an antiquated and dying device? Please just answer us with an ETA or have the courage to tell us you are not updating or can’t update this app. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and this model is approaching three years old. It is upsetting to say the least that this app hasn’t been updated in years (regarding compatibility).

Still waiting for iPhone compatibility and it’s been years!. Come on Abbott, my insurance company and I gave you tens of thousands of dollars and you can’t even develop an updated app? I’ve been waiting years for you to include my iPhone 13 mini, and by the time you do my phone will probably have slowed down and require a trade in. Your Eterna model has a compatible app, why not your Proclaim series?

Won’t open & function with 15.1 IOS update on NOV10. Just updated to the newest 15.1 IOS update and now the app will not open up, rendering my implant useless! PLEASE fix this glitch ASAP!!!! Horrible to have a long surgery and implant to replace a malfunctioning implant that failed in a year and half rendered unusable and only 2 weeks later I can’t even use it.

Please update app for more up to date phone models. Currently works only with outdated iphone models. A big problem for those who have endured surgical placement, time and expense for device such as my poor mom, who needs to replace an iPhone 8 this year with poor options based on lack of support to get this app up to speed on current models.

iPhone Support. I have had mystimulator since 2018 it works awesome but I’m still waiting for the app to work on my cell phone I’ve been told multiple times the last few years that would work on my cell phone but doesn’t have always had the newest phones I’ll never have support because your company‘s program on updating the app is the worst of any company I’ve dealt with

Awesome!. I love my nerve stim ! It got me off a lot of meds and got me moving better. Recently my battery died and needed replacing. My case is workers comp so I had to wait for approval. I was shocked at how bad I was hurting without my nerve stim working! It’s brilliant! Best decision of my life!

IPhone 15 support. It has been several months since the iPhone 15 came and still have no date for that release. I had to go back to an old iPod touch that still had luckily. I had a iPhone 12 and the app was working fine but this phone update wasn't a truly update for my SCS

Horrible. The last time they updated the app was to be compatible with iphone 11. I have a iphone 14 and I am in need to switch programs for my pain but I can’t. I forgot the ipod that came with the stimulator. I was assured the app would work on a phone. This company does not care about the patients who have the implants. Its about how many can we sell. DO NOT get go with a different company. Ridiculous I phone 11 is the last iphone compatible with app and its July 2023

Compatibility. When will this app be compatible with other IPhone 15? It’s crazy that it isn’t already.

Compatibility & Connection Issues. This app doesn’t work on all iOS devices, especially any current gen iPhones until whenever Abbott decides to allow it. iOS 15 bricks this app entirely. So often I have to keep rebooting the phone and/or close the app repeatedly to get it to connect. It’s done this on every device I’ve used to connect to the implant

Finally. I have been waiting for 2 years to control this from my iPhone! Before I was carrying around a iPod touch along with my iPhone. Thank you for the software update!!!

It worked when I had the 11 but not the 13. I had an iPhone 11 and the app worked fine. My phone died so I got the iPhone 13 pro and the app won’t work. So I’ll use the iPod but I wish it would work with the phone. I uninstalled and then reinstalled the app. The app says it is compatible with my phone then I installed it and now it says it is not compatible. Hope there is a fix.

Poor support. It is absolutely ridiculous that I have to carry two iPods and my phone around because Abbott has not made it a priority to update their app to include ALL CELL PHONES as controllers. I have an iPhone 13 Pro, and Abbott doesn’t seem to care about patient inconvenience. If I would have known I couldn’t use my phone, I would have chosen another manufacture to serve my SCS needs. GET WITH THE PROGRAM ABBOTT!!

Worthless app worthless device. For a supposed world class company you’d think they’d provide an app that actually works with their product. Nope, instead they fully expect you to use the reject device they provide at the time of surgery. An old Apple touch iPod. You know, the kind made 10 years ago!! Ditch Abbott. Go with their competitor. Abbot’s a worthless company.

Help! Software glitch!. All was good on my IPhone 11 until it automatically updated. Now in order to adjust my device I have to delete the app, reload the app, connect to my generator with my magnet. Each and every time I have to do this. All the app does is tries to load and then shuts down until I do the above. Please update your software to work with the apple update.

Get it together. How can you sell a medical product that isn’t up to date with current technology? I had an iPhone XS Max, but it only works on regular xs? How is that even possible? they’re practically the same phone. Now I have a 13 pro and it still doesn’t work. Update your app to work on the new phone! Iphone 13 has been out for 6 months now. Who is dragging their feet on this?

Still not working. When you try to set it to MRI safe mode it’s taking several attempts to get it to do it correctly which mostly consists of removing the app and re downloading it over and over until it goes through. Very time consuming and frustrating while trying to not hold up your appointments.

Works well but need to update devices. This works well but I have to keep an older iPod touch around as it does not support 13 or higher phone been out almost 2 years and last update 5 months ago. Tired of keeping the iPod touch charged to do what I need to in the app major pain.

Garbage. DO NOT GET AN IMPLANT! This company does not have a way for you to control the Stimulator. They gave me an old iPod that only works part of the time, then they told me to download this app and it doesn’t even work on my phone! They are just using you as a test dummy. Maybe they will fix it before you need one, mine hasn’t worked for over a couple of years and no one can do MRI’s because it takes a certain MRI. GOOD LUCK!

Works with iPhone 14 IOS 17.3.1. So far so good with this app. The company gave me an old iPhone with the device but today the rep installed the app on my iPhone14 and it works fine!

iPhone 13 not supported!. It’s obvious that Abbott doesn’t care about the patient. Every real software manufacturer has a robust upgrade plan to keep their software compatible with the hardware updates that every piece of technology goes through! iPhone 13 has been out since September 2021. Still nothing from Abbott Incredible indifference for its clients. Feb 2023 UPDATE Still not supported on my iPhone 13!!! Come on guys!!!

Phone compatibility. I’ve waited over a year and it still does not support iPhone 12 Max Pro but it supports iPhone 12, 12 Pro, 12 Mini. At this point I have to wonder if it is a problem with the developer since the iPhone 12 Max Pro was released the same month as the other iPhone 12s that are supported. It shouldn’t be hard to support my phone since the other versions are supported.

Was great until iOS update. This worked so well with my stimulator until I updated my iOS to 15.1. Now I have to remember to take the iPod I was supplied with when I go to my doctor for other procedures. The iPod’s battery drains quickly just sitting on my table. Thanks to Abbott for giving me some type of life back but, PLEASE update this app soon.

Yesteryear Development. App is ridiculous. Hardly connects and development/updates for use on present devices is non existent. My rep doesn’t even know why this app is so slow on getting it on devices we actually use in 2022. Other than there’s no other way to control it and developers don’t care to update it. Still handcuffed to this iPod that has a battery life of Russel Wilson behind the Broncos O-Line. Be better, do better.

Will this app be made functional?. So the battery in my IPod dies after a year and a half, Unable to make the nightly adjustments to the DRG stimulator so I can sleep. I look at App Store & see this. Send my Abbott/St. Jude rep a text about my situation. They tell me this works on my IPhone 12. Download it, get the Stim up and running properly, feeling great. Then this app crashes over & over. Useless to make adjustments. Sitting here at 1:00 AM in a ton of pain & no sleep. Guess I will have to bother my rep today. Maybe he can dig up an old IPod that will still work. It would be great if Abbott took some of the profits made putting the device in my body and put it toward programmers.

Program. It would be great not to carry two phones. Downloaded the application to find out its not compatible with my phone I phone se. can you please update the program so I can take advantage of this application Tom

Tech Support Won’t Reply. I have tried to contact Tech Support three times only to get return email telling me they will respond within three days. No response. My question is whether the Patient Controller will be compatible with IOS 15. I have an IPhone 10XR. I need an answer so that I can continue to adjust my Abbott St Jude SCS.

Fixed!. The app is now usable on the iPhone 12 and I for one, am extremely happy. Thank you, I don’t know why it took so long to port over to the newer phones but it’s done and I am grateful! Much appreciated!

Update for 14 pro max. Seriously when I had the 12 pro max you didn’t update then you did a minor on to include the 11 pro and max and the 12 pro but no max and now the 13 line and 14 line up is out and it 15 line up is about to be out. I’ve gone through 3 iPods. At $1000 a pop. You don’t carry them anymore so I can’t control my dbs. Horrible experience I’m debating taking the device out and going back to medication

Keeping up with technology. I like the product but there are some issues that need to be addressed. First off, iPhones 12 pro max to iPhone 14 are unsupported. Second, the iPod has trouble connecting to the stimulator and several attempts are made before I can change my settings.

Compatibility issues. Just got an iPhone so I wouldn’t have to carry the iPod around, which is frankly old school… but of course the app hasn’t been updated for some time. Ridiculous to go thru this level of surgery to fight pain to only be faced with incompatible devices. Most stores don’t even carry iPhone 12 anymore. When can an updated app for iPhone 14 be expected? Disappointed and frustrated users are waiting…

Why?. It’s extremely difficult to understand how this company charges so much for the equipment implanted into my body and then leaves the patients in the dark with out of date software to control something we’re carrying around inside our body. These things are supposed to be customizable for many years, not so much I guess. Update the app soon please! There’s been 2 iPhones since the last supported device on this app.

iPhone 12 Pro Max not supported. You would think by now the app would be updated to support the new version of iPhone. After having it connected to my iPhone 6 for years it really stinks it’s not compatible after upgrading my phone. Really inconvenient to have to carry two devices again. Please update app to work with iPhone 12 Pro Max

Please fix this app!. There’s got to be somebody out there who would at least volunteer to help fix this app so it doesn’t crash all the time and will connect with the nerve stimulator generator like it supposed to, I know that their are app developers out there that are phenomenal I’m sure somebody would be able to volunteer their time to help Saint Jude fix this app!

iPhone 13 NOT SUPPORTED please help. Honestly please help my iPod controller takes forever to connect to my lower back stimulator . Please update your app to include the new iPhone devices this would be life changing for people like me.

Doesn’t work with newer iPhones. Please update the app to be compatible with the latest iPhones. The iPhone 11, and iPhone 12 do not work with this app. I hate having to carry around an extra device. The iPod is handy, but also easy to misplace or lose. As it is now, I would have to use a 3 year previous model iPhone to be able to use the app.

Continues to drop stimulator. This a pain to keep having to pair the stimulator. This has happened when out of town and I couldn't repair....! Who Carrie's that heavy magnet around daily?!? This is like my 6 neuro stimulator and the first time I've had this issue!

Update your software. How hard can it be to update your software to be compatible with the modern iPhones? IPods are NOT a viable long-term because Apple no longer makes these devices. Please, please, PLEASE invest in a software team that can port this software ti the newer versions of iOS snd the modern phones! I would give this app five stars in a heartbeat if I could run it on my iPhone 12 pro max with the latest Apple iOS!!!

Remote programming. Love being able to connect to my doctor remotely from anywhere and have my settings adjusted

Stimulator control. I have had this patient simulator for almost a year now and I have a Apple 12 pro max and the program still has not been made for this phone. I have to carry a phone and an iPod to use my stimulator. Otherwise with a iPod the stimulator has a easy to use program.

Not 15 iOS Compatible. App worked great until I had to update my iPhone 11 Pro to the new iOS. It literally deleted all the saved info for my back device. Just found out today that they are working with the developer. No notice, so buyer beware for the time being!

Iphone support?. How can it be that a company as large as this cannot keep up with iPhone updates??? Lose the stupid little ipod that you use for NOTHING else and you must abandon all hope! You'll NEVER be able to control your device again. Why can't you hire engineers who can update the app with each new Apple edition...after all, you chose to use Apple!
