“Excellent support, quick response, very nice features built into the application.”
“App managed to pick up some OBD errors that other apps didn't display, in my case for the A/C pressure sensor in my Audi A4 B8. Very cool, replaced the sensor and now everything is running well. Also enabled the ADS and green menu for the MMI, all worked without issue. “

Great app. Did just what I needed it to do!. I paid for the $9.99 week access to make a few tweaks and it was perfect. Cheap date as far as I’m concerned

Great app, saved me a trip to the dealer. This app has been great for me as an Audi owner. Many customizations duplicate what can be done with the MMI, but access to the instrument cluster needle sweep and window/sunroof customizations are worth the price. The real value comes from the ability to read OBD II codes and engine faults. It let me know whether the engine light indicated something serious, and saved me an expensive trip to the auto repair shop for a diagnosis. As an infrequent user, there’s no need to subscribe for a year and I don’t know why people complain about the price. I pay for one month when I need the paid features. Easy!

Ok before reading the terms of use. The application seems okay, but after reading their terms of use, I deleted it as quickly as I could. Quoting a section (capitalisation in the original text), read part vi: “TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE MAKE NO WARRANTY THAT (i) CARISTA WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, (ii) DELIVERY OF ANY PORTION OF CARISTA WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, (iii) THE FAULT CODES, AS WELL AS THE SHORT DESCRIPTIONS APPEARING NEXT TO THEM, THAT MAY BE OBTAINED FROM THE USE OF CARISTA WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE, (iv) ANY ERRORS IN THE SOFTWARE WILL BE CORRECTED, (vi) ANY PORTION OF CARISTA OR ANY OTHER APPLICATION PROVIDED BY US WILL BE OF SATISFACTORY QUALITY, FAULT OR VIRUS FREE OR UNINTERRUPTED OR SATISFY ANY CONDITIONS OF QUALITY AND FITNESS FOR PURPOSE. NO ADVICE OR INFORMATION, WHETHER ORAL OR WRITTEN, OBTAINED BY YOU FROM US OR THROUGH OR FROM CARISTA SHALL CREATE ANY WARRANTY NOT EXPRESSLY STATED IN THESE TERMS. ANY REPAIRS THAT YOU DECIDE TO UNDERTAKE ON THE BASIS OF THE FAULT CODES OBTAINED AS A RESULT OF YOUR USE OF CARISTA ARE YOUR SEPARATE AND INDEPENDENT DECISION AND PRIZMOS LTD AND ITS DEVELOPERS DO NOT BEAR ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR SUCH REPAIRS, WHETHER NECESSARY OR NOT.”

Saved much money at the dealer.. Got this app to disable the intolerable seat belt chime on my 2019 Toyota Camry. I had tried solutions I found on the internet but nothing worked. I was able to accomplish my objective plus discovered many more customizations which I can’t access through the car’s own menus. My only issue is I don’t know if the monthly subscription fee is recurring. I can’t find a place to cancel.

works fine at diagnostics for older car but. The app works fine when I want to diagnose check engine light codes on my 10 year old Hyundai - I wish it would keep a record of the recent history of thrown codes, if it has this feature I couldn't find it. Would be helpful to have that information stored to show a history of issues to the mechanic.

Fantastic app!!!. I usually don’t write reviews but I just got a new Toyota and several things irritated me. So looking online I ran across this app. I have the OBD device already, plugged it in, started up the app and wala. All the settings I wanted to change I could. Thank you for making such an awesome app.

Subscription Fee ?. First of all, I wanted to say that I was doing my homework before buying an OBD device to use with this app. I’ve almost decided against it. If a user wants the advanced features, there is a subscription fee that practically charges $10/month, $20/3 months, or $50/12 months. To be fair, I asked them if this app was based on cloud servers to perform its function, but they said it was to maintain and improve the app. Well, I have several other apps that serve various functions like for my thermostat, but they don’t charge a recurring fee. And considering that most users aren’t going to use this app very often at all, it’s ridiculous to charge a subscription. I was told that I could cancel every month if I don’t use it often, but then if I want to use it again, that’s another $10. Really ??? If there was a reasonable one-time fee, I would be much more willing to bite. A lot of feedback in the reviews about the subscription fees.

Too Expensive!. As a (former) retail software developer, I understand why devs are moving toward subscription models. But $40/year is too expensive for what is generally an infrequently-used, casual-use app. None of the other apps I subscribe to, like RoboKiller and Overcast to name just two, cost anywhere near as much and I use them *far more often*. Overcast could quadruple its subscription and I’d still pay it because I use it heavily – hours per week. Its use:cost ratio is very favorable. But Carista, not so much. I’d probably use this a few times per year, that’s all. Very unfavorable use:cost ratio. Carista, as I understand, already discourages commercial use and “oversharing” by limiting the number of vehicles (by VIN) that can be tweaked. I’m fine with that. I just want to tweak our two cars, that’s all. But I want to revisit my tweaks occasionally. Offer a $10 or $15(tops) per year sub and I’m pretty sure the developer will see many more annual subs. I would sub for that. $40 is a lot for a seldom-used app. $10 or $15 isn’t. And I will not pay $10 for one week, either. That math is even worse.

To be avoid it by VW owners in general and GTI in particular. All you get for your money is some cryptic manufacturer error codes, which you need to decipher online. Wish you better luck than I had. Next will try OBD Eleven and report back here.

Not user friendly or flexible. I bought the dongle and never got my month of free service. Further more there is no option to buy anything in the app. ~~Please add more buying features to the app in the menu!~~ You Carista devs don’t seem to realize that you would get more consumers if you made an option for some features available with one single purchase. Like one car company only with single purchase. The monthly payment shouldn’t be the only option. And paying monthly just to be able to adjust my seatbelt light flashing is downright ridiculous!! ONE STAR until this app is overhauled. There are many better apps out that offer the same stuff but cheaper or free.

2015 VW GLI gen 3 ea888.3. I love this app. I knew I wanted to change a few characteristics of how the lights operate, windows operate, and the locking procedure for the car. I was able to change much more than I anticipated through the app and the supporting Carista adapter. Recently this new update came out, claiming that you can change the volume for the stupid sound aktor device Vw/Audi uses, and while most features added to the app work with my car, this one doesn’t seem to even show up as an option to change. I’m even able to change the torque steer compensator; so while the app has tons of features, some may claim to be compatible with your car but not functional. I’ll do 5 stars if the devs can fix the issue or come out and specify which models of Vw/Audi get the sound aktor ability. EDIT: function doesn’t apply to my vehicle. 5 stars added.

Customization not working. This app is unable to recognize my vehicle VW Jetta 2008 GLI. I can scan for errors, but when I try to customize something I only see an error that there is no customization for my vehicle and it doesn’t supported, while this vehicle is the same platform as Jetta Mk5. Please fix this issue somehow

Great App!. I’ve been updating control modules on my vehicles for years with Ford and Mopar vehicles and always had to use the wired OBD adapter plugged in to my laptop. I’ve always been an Apple guy so in order to use the software I had to either run bootcamp or virtual windows on my MacBook. It’s been a necessary evil to accomplish the changes I wanted to make. Carista absolutely blows that away. I never knew this type of setup existed and thought it was too good to be true when I stumbled across it on a forum. Coming from how I’ve always had to do things in the past I’m extremely happy with this product. Lots of customization options and based on the current beta they have plenty more customizable options coming soon!

Disappointing. I purchased the OBD2 adaptor and used it once. It reported that all the running lights of my car were faulty, when they were all working correctly. It also failed to reset the engine warning light, produced an error internal to the app and requested that I send a narrative error report to Carista. I am disappointed that an app this costly and its associated device do not work out of the box. I will be returning the device for a full refund.

Update. Hope everyone is doing well. When you gonna do some customization for JEEPS ? JL-JK-,etc That will be outstanding!!! Hope you do soon !!!

Was a great app, but they are not keeping up with new VWs. This was an amazing app, but no updated supports for newer gti or golfs from this decade. There is no support for id3, id4, or id5. It’s been almost 3 years and not even a blog post that they are in development.

Great tool for VAG.... One of top 3 VAG tools to own. Not only for the dollar value, but the quality of the programs within the tool and the expertise behind them which = less problems for the user, no hidden issues when making adjustments (another obd has a bad problem in their system that makes unknown "tweaks" within your vehicle. You find out down the road when something has randomly changed), as well as a truly dedicated customer service that cares & that responds! Thanks Carista for keeping it easy, intuitive, and affordable.

Unbelievable customer service. This is the first review I’ve ever written in here but I need to tell everyone how incredible they are here at Carista. I have been using their app since it came out and it really works well. I recently emailed them asking if they can add a customization that I wanted. I wanted to be able to add the ability to add paddle shifters to my Audi A7. They created a beta version with that in it and sent it to me in less then a week to try. It worked great. They followed up with me to see if I was happy. Now that’s customer service. Thanks guys.

No iTunes, no function. I bought Caristas dongle. Have tried for a week with several emails to make changes to the seat belt dings. The app stalls every single freaking time and says can’t open a payment in app, so NO freaking functionality. What a Sheety system and so far a waste of money buying the dongle. I’m po’d. And NO I don’t want an iTunes account. Jeez take a bank card like everyone else.

Used to be great. This dongle/ app used to be wonderful, showing diagnostic codes for free and then charging for doing customizations. Just looked at a car and went to scan it, now they don’t show diagnostic codes unless you pay!? Can’t find a way to pay through the app so couldn’t check the codes and left disappointed. Will be purchasing a different dongle.

Useless with a TPMS on a prius.. Same message for months of trying multiple parts of the app. Get a message under TIre Pressure that says “ECU Not Found”. It also says this about airbags, seatbelts, A/C, window control units.. After $60 in purchases my problems are left unanswered. Toyota wants to replace all 4 sensors and computer for 1300$, even though they NEVER hooked a machine to it. Very frustrating. As for mods to the car, the change from multiple beeps to 1 beep was a HUGE deal for me

When it works. For some reason it doesn’t connect half the time. I have to delete app and reload it then restore purchases. Then hope it works. When it does work it’s pretty cool. Customize settings for your car like windows, door locks, lights and signal options.

Customize Prius Reverse beep. This OBD II does allow you to reduce to one reverse beep, but after paying $40 including shipping, you’d think you could customize one feature without paying another $10, and having to cancel the automatic monthly renewal charge to avoid continuing monthly subscription to Carista.

Pay wall!. Fairly disappointed, I gathered through the description that I could write new TPMS ID’s into the ecu. And you can… as long as you buy the subscription. Either pay $15/month or buy the full version for close to $100. No thanks!

easy to use. the app seems to work nicely for turning off the seatbelt chime which is what I purchased it for, I do wish they would make it clearer on the initial page of the app which service plan you're supposed to choose - it's supposed to give you a month free but they need to make it clearer within the design of the app which one you're supposed to choose to get the month free (which is probably the option most people want to choose so put it up at the top and say choose this one) - otherwise very good, device is easy to install, app is very navigable and easy to use, would definitely recommend

Great Car customizing app. This allowed me to change the number of flashes on my 2020 Tacoma. Something the dealership wanted $60 to change for me. Awesome App! Would definitely recommend!

Changed available services. Purchased with the ability to read the codes from the device. Making programming changes was extra after the trial period. Two years later the device is useless unless you purchase their subscription. This is not what was advertised when I purchased the device. I should be able to read the codes. Now just get Oxxxx. Doesn’t seem right that they would remove the available features (codes) you paid for after the purchase of the unit and require you to purchase what was available previously for free.

I was hoping for a little more. To be 100% honest I was thinking that this is going to be a little more of a customizability as well as the diagnostics, and while it does both amazingly well, I just kind of felt like it fell a little short when it comes to customizing. I have a 2013 CC, And I’d say probably 75-85% of the options were available In one of the many menus on the dashboard, And now I know this isn’t the case with some cars, but I sort of felt that they’re needed to be more to justify a $40 a year price tag on-going

The best out there. I’ve used a lot of these products and apps and this one is hands down my favorite

Readiness monitors gone in latest update?. This app has been pretty helpful in quick diagnosing of codes in my modified cars, I have a unit permanently in all 5 of my vehicles just so I can keep an eye on things in real time should the CEL ever come on. I have noticed since the last update the Readiness Monitor check that used to show up at the bottom of the Fault screen after doing a scan is now gone, which ended up costing me $21 for a Ny state inspection that I didn’t know the monitors weren’t ready for. Please fix!

Outstanding product and support.. I bought this to customize my 2012 bmwz4 sdrive 3.0. Worked perfectly. Great tech support for my questions. Good value.

Works welll. You can disable many annoying beeps, features and restrictions. And just for that, it’s worth it. Works well on my 2018 Golf GTI.

2015 Audi A3 Inspection Reset. This product was fantastic for what I needed it for. I changed my own oil and replaced my spark plugs but couldn’t clear the “inspection due” notification. Paying $9.99 to clear the message as opposed to paying $400 to service the car at the dealership is a no-brainer. Saved me a ton.

Toyota 4Runner success. Worked perfectly to change the default settings for seatbelt chime and blinker volume.

Doesn’t properly support obdlink mx+. Claims to support obdlink Mx+. Latest update notes even state improved support. However it keeps telling me to update the firmware with the obdlink app. Obdlink app says it’s on the latest firmware. I would pay to use the paid features of this app but I’m not willing to pay for yet another dongle to do so.

Worked great on Audi Q5. Needed to reset my service due message after changing oil. Did the job. I cleared some fault codes and did a little customization. No problems. Easy to use. I did the one week payment as I wanted to support the company. Good job Carista!

2019 Tiguan SE. Just the ability to disable the auto stop/start makes this app worth 5 stars. The added little tweaks along with that are gravy. With so many available for my car it can be hard to find then sometimes, but it’s a minor flaw in a product that works as advertised.

It’s ok, but doesn’t worth its price!. 40 bucks for this is unreal, the app it self is okay. But for the price we should have more options instead windows/lights and door to be reprogrammed. My Audi A3 could be reprogrammed on how I want to lock and unlock, windows, lights (which was cool) but it doesn’t justifies the price! It does reads hidden codes (which is cool) but again 40 bucks nahhh I’d say for 9,99 it’s okay, and they do have this price but for a week lol (see they think that this thing worth like gold). Nice try, I took advantage of the free week that they gave me and could do everything I wanted during this time. Even after finished I said ... okay I’ll buy it cause it was cool, then 40 bucks lol (nope) 9,99 per year and I’ll be here buying and also giving the 5 stars.

Watch out for recurring monthly fee.. I did not sign up or notice when I purchased this product that they would then bill each month thereafter for a recurring service. Watch you accounts closely with these people. The product did do what it was supposed to however.

Does what it says, but only minimal usefulness. First, it works perfectly. For customization, though, while there are probably a hundred different options I can customize, most are options I could already customize right from the car’s menus. They also include a lot of useless options that nobody would ever care or want to change. That said, I bought it to fix two issues and it was able to solve one beautifully. I used it to shut off the engine auto-off when stopped at a stoplight. For that alone, it was worth the price of the module (and I accomplished that with the free trial, so no cost for the app). The other issue I was hoping it would fix was the unreasonably loud and long warning dings when I open the car door with the car running. Sadly, turning that off (or even adjusting the volume) isn’t an option. Either way, it was worth the cost for the one problem it solved, so I can’t complain. It may be great for the diagnostic tools, but I have no need for that, so I can’t comment.

Great but missing live data. Been using for a few years on tuned and non performance tuned cars that I have to monitor constantly. Don’t love having to take my laptop everywhere so this is a nice alternative for simple things it’s great but need to grow their support for live data i.e Volkswagen GTI 2007

2010 Mini Cooper S. Love the app and love the Carista OBD2 adapter as well. It cleared 12 codes I didn’t even know I had as well as unlock features of both my R56 itself and my key fob. The dealer charges an arm and a leg to unlock these features that are already there and to program a key fob not to mention the price to diagnose and clear codes. If I do have to bring it in to the shop I’ll feel much more confident knowing what the issue is even before I arrive. This thing will probably end up saving me so much time, money, and hassle.

Poor Business practices.. I purchased the full version a few years ago, then they switched to a subscription model and I am out the original price. Neither Apple nor Carista have offered any help after much back and forth aside from giving me a free week. Dishonest business practices.

Must have for anyone with a VWAG product. Many of the VW/Audi defaults are incredibly annoying. This app will let you customize the behaviors of all the automated BS to be the way YOU want it to be. I probably would have sold my car without this app. New cars are AWFUL with all the computerized "features" constantly beeping and flashing at me, turning things on and off when I don't want them too, etc. This app and the genuine Carista adapter have been worth every penny, and then some. I also use the adapter with other apps to dig performance info out of the car's brain, check and reset fault codes, etc.

Too expensive for what you get. Title says it all. $39 for the device and $40 for the subscription. Check the website and see if your car is supported BEFORE you buy. They make the website look like your car is supported and after you buy..... oh no it’s not. $80 on something I can’t even use. BEWARE

Subscription options. App is great and worked well on my 2013 VW GTI. Looking for the monthly subscription option, but I only see two options, each for the one year option. Would be great to subscribe every once in while to make some more changes.

Awesome for the Prius!. We own a 2020 AWD-e XLE Prius. There are some annoying features with the car: backup beeping, overly sensitive and too loud parking sonar sensors, and front parking sensor that keeps beeping when you’re going through an automatic car wash. Bought Carista and was able to easily fix all these issues. You do have to subscribe for at least a month to make the changes. But you only need to subscribe to make new changes — once made, they stick. So in theory you just need to do a one time, one month subscription. Totally worth it.

Everything works great except….. Works great on everything except it requires you to purchase pro version and will not allow in app purchases. Just shut up and take my money

07 Prius - ECU not found. UPDATE: Carista informed me that my 2nd Gen Prius is not fully supported due to hardware limitations. They only have basic OBDll diagnostics for that Generation. This information came directly to my inbox. That is great customer service! I know Prius’ need Techstream to do a proper diagnostic but was hoping for a Miracle and find an app for my NEXXUS tool. One day maybe 😊 I am using a new Nexxus OBDll/EOBD Diagnostic Interface Bluetooth tool. Unfortunately it is unable to connect to my 2007 Prius. When scanning ECU codes it states it can not complete connect. I have tried running the program with Prius in ON as well as Started (foot on brake). I can use Dr Prius but was hoping for a more thorough diagnostic check.

Excellent and invaluable app!. I had been at my wit’s end trying to enable certain features in my car that I felt certain were available. The dealership was no help; the manufacturer was even worse. I took a chance by buying the Carista OBD with its one-month free trial, and together they solved every single problem I had.

Awesome app. Does exactly what it said and is easy to use.. Great useful app for customising features on cars that wouldn’t otherwise be available. Also good for diagnosing issues. Great customer support also. If you want to customise your car this is a super simple way to go about it.

I used to love this app. This app was great when you could do a one off purchase whenever you needed it. I’d service my car once a year and pay the $10 or so to reset the service message. Now the only option available is a subscription that renews every month or year! I hate this kind of sneakiness where they suck you into a purchase thinking it’s one off then they hit you up every month. If you weren’t aware of what you’d signed up to you’d be paying $15 every month! The owners are getting greedy so I’m going to look for another app. Not impressed guys. Not impressed.

Works well. Works for me on Australian 2017 Landcruiser GXL - turned off the seatbelt warning dings and adjusted interior light and aircon settings. Doesn’t have a setting for door open dings though, and doesn’t work on Hilux.. but worth it for the other tweaks.

Wonderful. Very useful, great too clear code Good customisation

Nice work!. Could not recommend this app more! Even for diagnosing fault codes it’s great. But the added functionality to customise your car is amazing, definitely recommend picking one of these up and giving it a shot.

Renault Megane RS support?. I love this app and the customisations I can do on my BMW and Audi cars, however the Renault Megane RS (2013) doesn’t have customisation support? Will this be updated?

Satisfied!. After searching far and long, I've found a free app that can clear fault codes!

Misleading free trial. Free trial is misleading, when trying to access paid features there is no free trial option to select only paid subscriptions. Other than that the app works as expected.

Mostly very good. I'm happy with the app overal as it allows customisation of most elements. However some are missing or unclear. Others are shown which are not available / specific to the vehicle. I am experiencing issues with the alarm arming automatically after shutting but not locking the doors - unable to reset this to factory option / setting which is frustrating! Could give 5-stars if these issues were absent..

Very disappointed. Want my money back.. Does not do what it is advertising. Misleading! I had my doubts but gave it a go, never trust these cheap imitations. I never will. Very disappointed I did buy this.

Electric Parking Brake. I bought this for one job, to retract the Electric Park Brake on my 2016 Audi TT so I could change the brake pads. Connected to my own OBD2 and worked perfectly, thank you. Saved the one month subscription five times over.

Carista - Catch 22. Catch 22 - In order to use the Carista adapter, you must suscribe to the introductory offer, which is 1 month free, but by doing that your suscription will renew at $52.99/year unless cancelled within 30 days of the « purchase ». Problem is that the provided link to the Carista web site, that should allow you to cancel your suscription does not allow you to do anything...!!!

Great app but too expensive. The app works exactly as advertised, I was able to reset my service due warning and make some customizations I never knew possible on my Audi. Great job guys! However, the only reason I cannot give it 5 stars is because of the ridiculous yearly pricing! I find this app seriously overpriced. It seems to me that for a regular user who needs the app roughly twice a year to reset some service due warning it shouldn't cost that much! Why can't we just pay one time fee and that's it?...It seems much more suitable...

Too expensive for what you get. May use it one time but have to pay a lot for it.

Audi Q5 FY 2017+. Bought this thing over a year ago, Audi FY 2017+ years as not supported at the time, which I knew and it was okay. Used it a few times during trial and emailed the guys about the supporting 2017+ Q5 and they said they’re working on it and stuff like that. Yet we’re still waiting for support to come out after a year and a half... and still nothing. I emailed them once again and they totally changed their mind and said they’re not gonna work on it any time soon, BS!

Great app. Amazing app, they just need more advertisement AND PLEASE UPDATE APP thank u ( more features for b8.5 A4/s4)

It’s an impressive scam. What they don’t tell you when you buy the physical hardware is that a yearly subscription is $67. Not sure why they think that their app is worth that much, when there are many other better and cheaper products out there. For that price you might as well buy OBDeleven, instead of a knockoff version like Carista. Would not recommend, as the scanner is basically useless without paying for the subscription. I’m mostly disappointed in myself, since they tricked me into buying their expensive product. That part was well done.

Nice app.... Need further q5 features enabled

Slow AF. One time I tried to scan my 2015 VWGTI for trouble codes and it drained the entire battery. The next time I tried it took 35 minutes to get to 90% Any other app on the market would’ve scanned the car 10 - 20 times in that amount of time. It’s time to step up your game guys, wait times are an EXTREME ISSUE!

thank you ‘rackintosh'. Thanks for the ‘heads-up’ - take-away is, approach App Updates wi a degree of skepticism!!

VW GLI 35th. Easy to connect, a lot of set up can be done, it’s working very well, i hope there will be soon more options for customizing in future updates, keep up the good work!

Very Easy. Works exactly as advertised! Couldn't be easier.

Works perfectly. Was able to customize a 2012 Lexus CT personal settings without having to go to the dealer. Great app! Hoping for BMW support soon!

Works well but totally over priced.. It did a great job customizing my VW Passat but it’s grossly overpriced.

nice app. vagcom feature

What happened to Code reading?. Code reading used to be free! What happened? Your premium plan is a bit much just for me to clear an engine code. A $1 day pass might fly. Even then. I love the simplicity of your app. but the price change is a bummer.

Get a Vagcom 401. This app wants way too much money for basic functions. Get yourself a 401 VAGCOM and save your money.

Great for my 2014’ SQ5. I’ve been able to make the rear brake service easily with the app. Plus some lightning and windows/roof customization ;-) Hopefully I’ve been able to do them all during the trial period... I would not pay 52.99/years for customizing...

Don’t be fooled!. Requires subscription for individual use. This used to be decent but now requires subscription. Now I regret previously buying the OBD2 Carista device. I use it for my personal car(s), not as a commercial tool; there’s no reason to charge a subscription fee for this. And a one time fee for $10/month is too expensive. Bought their hardware, now they’re trying to get even more money out of you. Shame on them. Just greedy. There are better free options out there for diagnostics and much cheaper generic OBD2 devices. Don’t be fooled! Do not recommend, and will not support future devices/services. ——- I suggest making this completely free for up to 2 cars per year. Your ratings and downloads will go up, and users who will actually get use out of it to be worth the subscription fee will rise as well.

Mk6 jetta updates. Need more mk6 stuff there's been like no updates for that

Simple and easy to use.. Cleared my error code and gave me all the info I needed!

Edit:. Well, issue has been resolved and I have to say it does work, and works quite well. Used it once during the free month and it seemed to have worked fine. Paid the $70 and it has never - EVER - worked since. So, buyer beware. Once they sucker you into paying $70, it won’t work anymore.

Great value. Very happy to see updates and additional support for my mk7 GTI increasing the value of the Carista. I feel like there used to be monthly subscriptions that were better than the weekly ones. A week is sometimes not enough to review the changes and decide whether you want to keep them or not. You cannot undo a change if your subscription expires. Overall a great tool for the money. Looking forward to more features and customization coming.

Garbage. This app is trash, my sunroof stopped working properly since I used it. Never buy !!!

VW Golf Owner. Bought a vw 2017 golf and want the key to open the hatch (it's on the key fob but not programmed in the control computer). Bought springed struts and took car to dealer to enable remote hatch opening - no luck. Bought Carista but it does many other things but no hatch control so I contacted Carista and they programmed this into their next release and it works great. There are also many other nice features available but the golf model must be equipped for accordingly for some to work. I am very happy not having to fuss with dealer and also the minimal cost to be able to access many additional features. I don't and hope I won't need this to diagnostic the car. With springed struts the hatch is a bit harder to close but it's worth it the key operated opening. Big "high five" for Carista programmers!!

Whole lotta wait for a whole lotta nuttin'. Was hoping to see what I could change on my Prius and I have been looking at different scan tools. Came across this one that the Pro feature would be able to change a number of "dealer only" settings. Yeah! Finally someone who has done some good work! So I ran the scan.... 10 minutes later.... nothing. Well, very little, as in the free features. Ok, so lets in-app purchase the pro features? ... crickets. Can't find it. Wasted a lot of time to get no where. Maybe I'm missing something, but from my experience this was not intuitive.

Software is now a separate purchase. I bought this product now a year later I can’t use it because all the features are now paid for only. I already bought the dongle and the software was free. Very bad move by the company.

Subscriptions. Does the subscription matter how much you get or no?

Your only option except the dealer.. If you want to customize/change your settings, this is about your only option without going to the dealer. I don't agree with the new pricing structure, I think it will scare away a lot of new users. The old price of $20 is a lot for and app but $10 for a weeks use or $40/ yr is very steep for the average, "non car guy".

Must have for Prius owners. With this app you can get rid of annoying reverse beeps, seat belt chime and much more...

Works!. I was looking for an app to read my OBD codes on my older (1996) car with my Kiwi WiFi. I have some paid apps, but they were not working. Downloaded a bunch of other apps. Carista connected to my car automatically. Read the OBD codes. I reset them. Perfect. This is all with the basic app - my car and OBD adapter are not supported by the Pro Package.

Most settings did not work. It offered many settings for my 19 Jetta When implemented they did not work

Slowest app on this planet. I really tried and was hoping to customize some of the behavior of my Jetta (2017). I purchased a compatible ODB II adapter (double checked reviews and compatibility list on Carista website to make sure it works) and was full of excitement. Connecting the dongle and starting the app was fine, but man, the app is slow. Even just reading the diagnostics took 10 minutes. I tried to see what modifications are available for my car, but I gave up after 20 min when the progress eventually hit 24%. I tried a second time and almost made it back up to 24% but a stupid gesture when swiping to the left (by accident!) caused the whole progress to reset. In short, I have not been able to use this app at all. Good marketing department, but lousy engineering team.

Great Application for all of your custom settings. I was also a beta tester and have a 2014 Toyota Prius and the application allowed me to customize settings the dealer didn’t know about or wanted to have me set up a “tech” appointment to change — like the annoying backup constant beeping. Beep once and let me pay attention to backing up vs. beep-beep-beep. This application is designed for looking at the codes on your vehicle or for changing all of the custom settings that you have — and you would be amazed at how many you might have. Definitely worth the money for the hardware and software if they cover your vehicle.

Missing Many Options. It used to be a good app for my 2006 VW Passat but when I got my 2013 VW CC and was excited to get my remote window features and maybe more I was so disappointed. Not much in this app anymore especially not for the annual fee that I’ve been paying!

Don’t waste your money on this tool. I can see my 2011 Rav4 TPMS light on but the tool cannot see it

It works great!. I own a 2017 VW Golf 1.8TSI and wanted to tweak some of the factory settings. In just 10 minutes I enabled comfort windows, set auto-flashing turn signals and passenger mirror down on reverse. VCDS from Ross Tech and ODBEleven are great tools for doing this type of modification. But cost and level of technical knowledge requirements are pretty high. The Carista ODB-II Bluetooth dongle and app were cheap and easy. It just worked out of the box and I didn't need to understand long coding or complex steps. If you want to do simple customizations, read engine faults or want to dip your toe in with ODB-II monitoring, this is a great option.

Honest Review. I just received my adapter. I used that adapter on my BMW 530i 2018 and tried the advanced diagnostic it took few minutes to fully diagnose the All ECU modules and gave me 6 issues specified to the car which is amazing. I tried the service feature, but I had not time to wait for it gathers the data as it needs time. The thing the made me little bit disappointed in the app the cutomozation is not available for my car model I hope that they will increase the supports on car models as I believe they will. For the customers I recommend this adapter as well as this app which as organized and will do what you need from obd scanner way cheaper than buying obd professional scanners which cost 1000$+ especially European cars scanners are expensive For the developers You did an amazing job organizing the app and making sure it receive updates frequent to add more features and services for us. Bravo keeps up with the excellent work and does not stop; there is real potential in that software as well as the adapter; if more work is done to extract that hidden potential, it rewards you later on. What I saw and consider as hidden potential 1- the way to customize cars feature this is a fantastic potential to focus on as adding more support to cars brands and models as well will play a huge role in improving the quality of the app 2- adding live data records it will be a huge improvement as this will be used to check on the parameters of the car to diagnose the issues mechanically 3- add a way to print the report of diagnoses(basic and advance ) as it can be used to show the local mechanic the Detected issued so he can fix them 4- if possible adding suggested solution to the issed found will be something considerable 5- making list of my cars as that reports will be saved in the assigned cars let say I saved my Bmw 530i when I open the all I choose what car I connecting to or it can be done automatically. Once diagnosed or anything is done to that car, it will be registered to know precisely what happened or what was the issues detected at that time. Hope that helps to provide ideas to improve the quality of the app Summary: recommend this app to every car enthusiasm!

Pretty good. Hoping to see an update for B6 Passat for gauge sweep and digital speedometer!

Way too expensive. Product does what it says it does but there’s no reason it’s $40 a year! I bought the device for $30 and one year pro and made the adjustments I needed to in my car. That’s $70 plus another $40 for year two. This product is not worth $110+ beware of autorenewing subscriptions!

Disappointed. I figured it was worth the extra money to buy their hardware since it is guaranteed to work, but I have no idea what that even means now. I spent $50 for the Carista hardware shipped, and $20 for the app. I come to find that some features didn't work. I emailed them to let them know that the sliding sunroof function did not work, and never heard back from them. On top of that, I paid extra for a useless piece of hardware. It doesn't work with all features like their bs guarantee claim, and it is also not compatible with any other obd2 apps. If I knew this, I would have just purchased a generic wifi dongle instead of their overpriced garbage. I would appreciate someone from this company getting back to me to honor their guarantee. I want my money back if all features don't work, and I will just go get a normal wifi adapter that I can use with a dozen other apps with better features.

Used to work great.. After one of the updates stopped working. Terrible customer support

False Readings. This OBD2 reader gave me false codes on my VW. I can confirm this because i used 3 other scanners borrowed from co workers and there were NO codes. I don’t recommend using your money towards this. Buy a VAGCOM cable or OBD ELEVEN

Works great for most procedures.. Won’t support advanced (manual) coding supported by other OBD coders (eg Turning off rear camera after installing a custom headset like the RCD units available for VW cars)

Not reputable / Somewhat Predatorial. Purchased with options of yearly, or weekly subscriptions. Not all options were “enabled” and shortly after purchased, no more weekly option. Just know that this organization moves the goal posts once they get your money. Bait & Switch comes to mind.

Not As Advertised. I own a 2021 Prius and like many Prius owners I wanted to turn off the annoying backup beep. I looked to Carista not just for this, but also for the following quoted directly off their website. -Auto-Turn on recirculate mode on A/C is turned on. Yes/No -Close windows via long-press on the remote. Yes/No There were some others, but you get the idea. So $30 for the OBD Adapter. $40 a year (yes, you can cancel after a month) for the subscription, but these features among others are not available. There is no customer support that you can talk to, but very quick and pretty responsive customer support via email hence the 2 star rating. However, many answers seemed somewhat cut and pasted, but I was finally asked to run a diagnostic where I had to keep my car running (engine and all) for 40 minutes. This is hard for a Prius owner. I did not have a 40 minute highway drive planned so Carista could come through on what they promise on their website. Then they asked if I would run a quicker diagnostic. By this time I had taken my car for it’s first service and the dealership turned off the backup beep for free (something they said they commonly do). So, return and unsubscribe. It’s a shame, I would have really liked to make the customizations on Carista’s website. I’m sure it’s hard for them to keep up with all the software updates, but if they’re relying on customers to do that for them, maybe offer them a free year of the app and/or free OBD Adapter for the work we’re doing for them. / No

It’s a Scam. Perched one month and they keep charging my card every month this app is a Scam. And they made it difficult to unsubscribe.

2007 Prius. Beware, the Carista OBD and app are mostly useless for a 2007 Prius. This car is not supported for any custom features or advanced diagnostics. Real disappointed with it.

Great app. If you want to tweak the settings of your car and want it easy this is the app for you. I had issues using the app with my car and tech support helped me determine it was a bad odb. It also lets you diagnose check engine lights and more. Highly recommend this app and the support you get with it.

Don’t waste your money. App didn’t work and get a refund is a nightmare.... don’t even try...

best free softwer. with this and mini wifi super obd I reset errors on my opel insignia 2011

Scam. Don’t get their free trial. There’s no way to easily cancel the app. Then they ran $50 down your throat the next month.

Does not reset tpms sensors as advertised. I purchased this to reset tpms sensors on my winter tires, which they specifically advertise for on Toyotas. It does not work on my car.

Used to customize for free. Not anymore.. I loved this app for awhile. It used to be mainly free and I could use a third-party OBD II adapter. Not anymore. The greedy company is now charging a hefty amount for a monthly subscription AND you have to buy their pricey dongle. Now the old method of finding someone local with a VAGCOM and trading in beer is cheaper.

More support. Create support for more cars like Hyundais

I got scammed too. I had the same experience as Zeek. I boutght the app and bluetooth module in mid-March 2016. I wanted to tweak just one setting on my car and then use it to reset TPMS when I changed back and forth to snow tires over the winter. I heard that this capability would be available soon, so I agreed to test a beta release soon after I bought the "Pro" version for $20 here. The beta had TPMS, so I figured I was all set. Alas when the beta version expired, my copy of the app no longer worked and Carista/Prizmos wants MORE money on a subscription basis: $7 for a week or $40 for a year. Simple extortion.

Too expensive. Pricey

Door locks. I bought it to customize my doors to unlock driver side on one click and all on two but not letting me save it!

Great product. This tool allows you to enhance your vehicles basic functions from windows to lights. Making your life easier and your vehicle more enjoyable to use. Having used a true vcds cable before, this helps simplify the modifications for the novice users, and instead of having to lug my laptop into my car I can use my cell to get most of what I want accomplished.

Useless. Useless very slow app, not worth the money!

Not able perform DIY service. Hello Team, I am using OBDLink MX+ with the latest FW. It can do diagnostic. But when I try anything else. I would keep asking me to unlock doors and try again. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

$20 option. The listed $20 Pro option isn't available when you sign up, so I had to use the $10, one week option. It was ok since I was able to do everything I wanted to do (turn off some beeping and opening windows). A little misleading but it was still cheaper than taking it in to someone to have it done.

You need this app now!. If you're a gear head and love cars, get this app, it's diagnostics test has helped me diagnose so many problems on my cars, even my Dodge Ram!!! Plus the customizations are so awesome! I have a 2008 Audi Q7 and at the moment there isn't many customizations for the Q7 but they said they'll add more soon, even with the limited customizations on the Q7 I still think this app is easily worth $20.. If you have a European car, get this app! It's super fun to use and the customer support is out of this world!!!

Oxygen Sensor Not Ready warning on 2005 Nissan Altima. This free app works fine on my iphone 6 with the $17 ieGeek WiFi OBD 2. I only need it to find out when our 2005 Nissan will pass smog due to the O2 sensor not ready warning. We have driven it for a month now since I changed the battery, and have to keep going back to smog stations or Nissan dealer to find out if it has got enough drive time at various speeds on it yet. There is no other way to get this info. The service light does not come on as all the smog equipment is fine. This is a new requirement in California as of 2 months ago, that the O2 sensor must show ready. There is a nearly impossible (and dangerous) driving schedule (in LA) required to get the ready warning to reset at the back of the Altima users manual. Apparently all newer cars have this "feature" now.

Overpriced!. $10 for a week or $40 for a year? How did you come up with this? Many options didn’t work on my Audi. DO NOT buy the app until he fixes the pricing issue.

limited app support - Be Careful. I wanted to love this app. it just wouldn't work for me. I bought the appropriate hardware. I tried to get it to work multiple times. I WANT to pay $20 to unlock "Pro" features, but the app won't let me. support from the developer has been minimal. I reached out multiple times, and got limited response that indicated that the developer did not really read my email. and then subsequent emails were met with stone silence, no follow up whatsoever. if it worked as advertised it would be great. as it is now, it is non-functional. it's too bad. developer: I gave you multiple chances. why not do the right thing and follow up?

Cool app, easy for beginners to diagnose issues or change settings. I used Carista to program my Audi to have the needles on my dash to sweep and my mirrors to fold when I lock the car. It's very easy. My only suggestion is they include more detailed explanations of the features since some don't seem self-explanatory to me. If you like to customize your car's computer, or run diagnostic tests like your dealer does, you'll enjoy this gadget. Carista supports a a pretty wide range of automakers too.

Love this. Worth the money

Add more old Toyota & Lexus models. Add Lexus IS 2nd generation..good tool over all

Please need help. Why the TPMS doesn’t show up on my app do I have to pay the one of the subscription to get the tpms ?

2013 Toyota rav4 tpms. Good working

Easy to use, works great. I just use this on my 2013 Prius five and it was very intuitive and easy to use. I used it on my iPhone 6 Plus. Within a few minutes I had customized quite a few options on the car, including several options I did not know that I had available to me.

Fantastic. Did everything I wanted and more.

Great app for tweaks without Vagcom. I just had a remote starter installed in my VW CC and wished the car would remember the seat heater settings from when it was shut off (they default to off at each startup). Sure enough there's a setting in the VW computer for seat heater retention and a few minutes with this app and $10 later my seat heaters now come back on to where they were set when the car shut off. Since the $10 gets me a week of pro access I'll look around tonight and see if there are any other settings I want to change. The app worked perfectly with my generic wifi OBD adapter.
