Frustrating appointment search.. Two stars may be a little harsh, but there seems to be a major flaw in the user experience here. When searching for available appointments, there should be an option to “show next available” or “only show available” in the list of locations. As it is, I’m stuck searching through weeks worth of location listings, the vast majority of which show no availability once opened. What’s the sense in listing locations and dates with no availability? Seems as though this app is first and foremost an appointment scheduling tool, and it falls way short in that regard. I’ve been trying for weeks now to set an appointment to donate - just too frustrating to individually sort through endless entries that don’t actually have any availability. On the upside, guess that means lots of people donating these days which can’t be a bad thing!

Horrible app. I have donated blood and my blood donation isn’t even in the app. I completed the rapid test a few hrs before my appt. it never went through. So when I got the the site I had to re-do it. Why have these features if none of them are going to be filled out or work correctly. My blood donation, appointments, blood type and so on have not been added. I have filled out the section that’s asks if your donations are here and to fill out the information again and it will be updated 24-36 hrs. I did this twice so far. The first time, was 3 days ago. I did it again today. Why ask if the donations are incorrect if the American Red Cross isn’t going to update your information?? I even deleted the app, thinking there was an issue, but, that wasn’t it. We help to save lives because we want too. An app like this can be fun to look at if all the correct info on giving blood is well updated. My husband’s is well filled out, he can see his blood type, when he’s donated, how much he’s donated, and she. His next appt. will be. Me, I have none of that. Hugely disappointed.

Loving the app!. My sister lured me into donating blood by telling me the app had badges to earn & that I could track where my blood went. I have donated twice & really enjoyed learning the app as I go. I created a team in honor of my dad & have a few friends & relatives that have joined, which is really fun because we can see our collective impact!! I also love having the health data all in place & being able to complete the rapid pass before my appointments!! A lot of the features only work if you book your appointments thru the app, which is easy to do!!

Love it!. Will never schedule a donation any other way. I love following my donations through the different stages and seeing where it ultimately goes. One ask, or improvement.... I am CMV negative and have been for 47 donations. I only learned 2 donations ago how special this status is and how my CMV negative blood is so crucial for babies. If a donor is CMV negative TELL THEM! And put this information on the app. I will be more inclined to make donation appointments and keep them knowing I have the potential to save the life or lives of babies and I think others will to.

Where’s the “Found Information about Power Red” Badge?. What’s great: The profile contains a lot of interesting information. The badges are a great, fun way to get people motivated to give! The app opens and functions really well. You can quickly and easily move from page to page. What’s not so great: Accessing information about all the different types of blood donation, requirements, and general blood donation tips and concerns ARE NOT EASY TO FIND. I was curious what a “Power Red” donation was. My friend looked it up on google, read the answer, and I still had not found it in the app. Finally after tunneling through several pages I found a list outlining the different types of donations. This shouldn’t happen. You should be able to access this information from several points. Maybe where it gives you the date when you can next donate (tap the box that has the name of donation method— you’re taken to an information on method. Perhaps being able to access this information from the badges section of the app would be another way to find it.

not accessible for trans people. I’ve been a blood donor since I was 16, and I’m O-, so I try to donate as frequently as possible. However, I’m also transgender, and something that often keeps me from donating is that I always get misgendered and deadnamed. I’m donating again soon, and I was hoping with the app that I could schedule an appointment to skip the lines. However, there is no place to put a preferred name or pronouns in the app, so I’ll most certainly have an issue with my name when I arrive, as well as having to see it whenever I look at the screen. I’m deleting the app, and until there’s an update that accommodates trans people I won’t be re-downloading it. Please include a spot for preferred name and pronouns (and let them be displayed during appointment check ins), this would make it so much easier for trans people to donate!!

Good but could be better. The reschedule appointment doesn’t really work. You can cancel your appointment, but it doesn’t let you reschedule for a different day. The badges are sort of meaningless. 10+ gallons doesn’t really tell you much. I’d rather know the amount of gallons. Team standings are okay, but I liked the individual standings better. The team standings show you that are a drop in the bucket and that you are making a difference, but the individual standings show how much of a difference that you, as a drop in the bucket, are making. The individual standings are far more helpful in trying to recruit other people to donate because it shows how big of a difference ONE PERSON can make. And it can be a pretty big difference.

Would appreciate iPhone wallet incorporation. A nicely put together app. I very much appreciate the fact that it DOES NOT play with all the social media platforms. Not everything we do needs to be shared with everyone all the time. Thank you for that. However, what I would like to see is the option to add your donor card to the wallet on iPhones. Sometimes it’s easier just to open up the wallet widget and sort that way than it is to open an app. Plus, donors wouldn’t have to worry with reception issues at a donation center if their cell coverage is sketchy. Just open up the wallet and boom, there’s your donor card. Thank you!

Useful for RapidPass only. It’s great for saving time by being able to answer all the questions via RapidPass before going to donate. It could be useful for other things but so much about the app seems off or unnecessary. The digital donor card would be great for me to show a history of BP readings. Unfortunately, it shows only the last three readings, and if you have it show the full history, the only information shown is the type of donation, date, and location (full history of BP, pulse, and hemoglobin IS available on the website). Consistency of information would be good here. The Blood Journey is interesting but would be more so with a little more information and if it were more up to date (right now doesn’t have the info from my donation of over 3 months ago). And although I figured out that the Blood Journey is showing the donations in reverse chronological order, why isn’t the full date (showing the year) displayed? Most other informational features are unnecessary once you’ve donated once or twice, and the badges are lame. I’m a Power Red donor so only need to use this three times a year, so instead of bogging down my phone I use it on my iPad. Only got it for the benefit of seeing the Blood Journey, and have been waiting to see some improvements but have yet to be rewarded. I may just forgo the little information I do get about the Blood Journey (only available through the app) and just go back to using RapidPass on the website.

Enhancement suggestion: add platelet count and yield. Under Donation History, it currently displays blood pressure, hemoglobin, and pulse from the last donation. For people who donate platelets such as myself, I would suggest adding platelet count (the number that is supposed to be 150 or higher) and platelet yield (the percent that is supposed to be around 7 or higher). I have shown up at the donation site to donate platelets a few times, only to be told that my previous count or yield was low and was told that I needed to re-schedule at a later date. I was given those numbers at that time, but I could have avoided wasting the donation sites time (and mine) if I could have checked myself beforehand. Since the number is in the record, it must be in your database, so I am suggesting that it also be added to the display in the app. Thank you.

Good app, but could really use HealthKit integration and more creative badges.. I really enjoy the aesthetics and utility of the app, but I wish my blood pressure data, iron concentration, hemoglobin, pulse, etc. were integrated into Apple HealthKit automatically. Also, the badges aren’t very interesting. The only ones I pay attention to represent the total volume donated. If there aren’t cooler badges imaginable, it might be better just to remove the badges entirely (which take up a TON of real estate in the app) and just track volume milestones. Also, the layout of the app doesn’t make much sense. Why, for instance, does the profile page contain “start rapidpass”, but your team is selected on a different page? And why is there a “me” tab within impact when there’s already a profile tab? It seems a better way to organize the app would be with a Profile tab (which contains your history and health data, your blood journey, your team’s rank, your milestones/badges, and your donor card), and then a Book Donation tab (which has RapidPass, the date your next eligible to donate, suggested donation options, etc. One more thing, the notification settings it says I have are wrong. I messaged STOP when I was getting SMS’s from the Red Cross, but the app said that I had sms notifications turned on.

Not as Described. It’s been explained to my by Red Cross personnel as all encompassing, however, it falls short in several key areas. Useful for: *my donor card *viewing donation history *viewing upcoming appointment (made online - see below) Not useful for: *Finding nearby drives on certain date range needs more flexibility. *Booking appointments was cumbersome and I gave up (search is clunky, results are limited). I much prefer website functionality. *Badge alerts popped up, however, there isn’t a summary screen where I can view them. I want to see my vampire badge and post it to my social media! It vaporized! Where can I see them? Reps at the drive could not find them either. This could be such a fun, motivating feature if I could see them. *Rapid Pass - I completed it online yet the app didn’t “know” thus prompted me to do it again; there was no synchronization with my account which perplexed me since it “knew” about my appointment... I had to present the email version Rapid Pass. Based on past issues with other Red Cross systems being out of synch, such as phone recruitment within days of a donation, I’m not surprised by the hiccups. However, it does significantly reduce the utility of this app for me and makes it tough to justify the storage space.

Needs work. There’s a rewards section? Where? The app has issues. The Red Cross is aware of these issues and are working on them. For most uses, it works. I schedule all my donations on the app. The journey section now works. Rapid pass gives me a few issues, but I remind myself that I’m saving lives with each donation. For the most part, I’m happy with the app. The reason for a 3 rating is: 1. Here in the App Store, this app has a rewards section. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen every section in the app and never seen a rewards section. 2. There are other issues with the app, but I know for a fact the Red Cross is working on them. These are known issues (not requests) and when these issues are fixed, I will change my rating.

Blood donation. 18 years ago just a few weeks after I had my last daughter, I began to hemorrhage really badly. When the ambulance arrived , and the EMT’s were assessing my situation, I remember hearing one of them say that I needed a blood transfusion right away. They said that I was in dire need of a blood transfusion to save my life. I praise God and will forever be thankful and grateful that someone chose to donate blood so that it was there when I was the one in need. Donating our Blood, Platelets and Plasma is a very important and honorable thing that each of us can do for others , as well as ourselves. We have no way of knowing that we may very well end up being the one that needs a blood transfusion at some point in our lives. So if we are physically and medically able, I truly believe that it is our duty to donate blood products that can and does help save peoples lives.

Great App. Giving Blood is a Great thing to do because it’s saving lives & helping those in need! This app allows you to know when you’ve donated, when you can donate again, how many times you’ve donated, along with what you donated. As well as locations near you to go to when you can donate again & allows you to see if you’ve had COVID Antibodies to know if you’ve had the Virus or been asymptomatic. It’s a Great app to know the road you’ve traveled in helping others & will let you know where & when your blood was taken too & its journey! It’s great to know that you’ve donated blood, but to know when you’ve helped someone & to know where it went to & when is a Great Feeling! Get the App & Donate Today!!!

Why don’t you remember me??. There are several things to like about this app- your stats from you past donations, the ability to complete the Rapid Pass before arriving and to easily find and make appointments. But why oh why can it not remember me?? No thumbprint sign in, no option to remember your log in. Frustrating. And the COVID test results are great - if you only ever donate once. There is no date attached to the results so your “last appointment “ is of no help if you gave three days ago for the second time. Are the results in from the new one? Still pending? No clue. Some easy fixes. I would donate more consistently if the app didn’t annoy me so. Too irritating to use, too much of a bother to call to try to find an appointment so I just...don’t.

Finding drives is a pain. I live in a rural area and the app is always suggesting blood drives 50+ miles away when I know (by looking at their website) that there are available appointments about 5 miles away. Yet nothing closer than 50 miles shows up. Moving the map around doesn’t re-search the new area like it should, so you’d really do better finding and scheduling on their website. But this throws out using RapidPass. It’s just pretty buggy and not super useful for the main thing they want you to do. If there’s a massive blood shortage, some of the reason might be that they make scheduling an appointment and tracking/using RapidPass so dang hard.

A bit buggy but love the features. I donate blood regularly in memory of my son who passed away. I like a lot of features, esp. scheduling, Rapid Pass, and seeing my blood’s journey. But my last appointment is missing even though I managed it thru the app. I like the selfie feature, but it’s buggy. Several times I’ve tried to post the selfie to FB, but all that appeared is a link to the app download site. I have to take the selfie again (since it’s not saved or accessible in the app), send the pic to myself, and post it as a comment to my original post. This is not the way it should work!

Unavailable appointments as search results. When searching for an appointment to donate blood, this app asks for date range, time of day and location area. It then searches and returns a list of results. But the results it returns include (or in my case, are exclusively) unavailable days and locations. In other words, when I get search results for a Power Red donation any day over the next 14 days, any time of day, near my location, I tap on each result, and it tells me there are no appointments available for that day and to search again. So what’s the point of searching? Why do search results list unavailable days? If I’m searching for an appointment, why show me all the times that are NOT available? Other than this, as other reviewers have noted, it should be easier to get info on types of donations.

Love everything I can see and find out!!. Where do I begin? This app is awesome I can see what my bp, hemoglobin, pulse, etc all from the day I donated. I thought it would hurt but it didn’t hurt at all. Trust me I’m not a fan on needles but I loved how kind everyone was and I just kept thinking I could be saving a life or more. I also like that I can see my blood type, how much I donated, I can join a “team”, schedule another appointment, and I absolutely love seeing where the blood is donated. Normally I hate notifications from other apps but I love getting to see the notifications. I find all of the notifications interesting. I recommend donating blood and if you ever think about wanting to do it and if you don’t like it once that’s ok at least you got to the experience!

Good- not great. I’m a 70 time donor to Red Cross. One of the perplexing things about blood donation is how much time it takes to get ready to donate, then the actual blood draw takes 5 minutes. Rapidpass is a huge improvement, but it relies on ppl telling the truth about travels, sexual activity, etc. Red Cross and the FDA already recognizes this and put blood through intensive lab testing for quality control, so why ask the questions in the first place. Same is true of all the identity monitoring. Why do they need to know one’s name address and birthdate, and repeat it over and over? I finally forced them to stop asking for my SSN which they had insisted they needed. A few bottom lines here: - I don’t trust Red Cross (any more or less than any other outfit) with my info. - ARC should decline to ask for info they don’t need; not having it means they aren’t responsible for safeguarding it. - Given the shortage of blood, ARC and the FDA need to come to grips with the basic notion of how easy it is to not give blood. It’s easier and more convenient to not do it than it is to do it. Given this uphill difficulty to enlist new donors and keep old ones, they need to make it as easy and convenient as possible.

Good. I do like the app it helps me keep track of donations I’ve given, it won’t however allow for my Connecticut donations to be logged from when I first started donating, they aren’t counted, and oddly the badges don’t update. I got my five gallon donor pin, but not the badge in the app, which is fine, but when I’m told to update it and there isn’t one available or close it out and reopen it does place it either not disappointed but it does need some work. Cross state donations would be great to see in here although that’s a super long time ago as well.

Great app. This app is great for what it’s for. Scheduling donations. Seeing your donation history. Donor card. I had issues with the Rapid Pass during my last donation (and first using the app). It didn’t seem like it was made for smartphones, just monitors. I wish it would go more I depth with “your blood journey”. I’d really like to know where my blood is...which storage facility/which hospital. I’d also like to know when it gets checked out for use. I think it would be just awesome to be sitting at work and get a notification that my blood has been checked out...at this very moment, I’m helping someone.

Very convenient making appointment. This app is probably the reason I give blood at all. Just because the its ease of use. You Log on and look for a location and date that works for you, and reserve your spot. Done. Then the day before your appointment, you can fill out the EZ pass using the App so you literally have zero paperwork to do once you arrive for your appointment. And if something comes up last minute and you can not make your appointment, rescheduling is just as easy. Overall great experience.

This app is great!. I initially downloaded the app so I could easily schedule a donation and receive notifications, but the app does so much more! I can see where my donation is in the process for each donation, I can see my blood type and how many units I have donated, AND there is a tracker to show how far along I am in the platelet reward scale! How cool is that?!?!?! I also love that I can add my donor card to my Apple Wallet for easy access and also complete the rapid pass in the app. So much going on in the app - it is now one of my favorite apps!

Great App, But.... I love the app. It makes it easy for me to book my appointments, complete my rapid pass and have my donor is ready to go. But I wish it would give me the info I need to prepare for a platelet donation. If newbies were looking to see what they need to do to get ready, they would think it was just like a blood donation because that’s the info they give when you click the “how to prepare for your donation”. Definitely needs to be updated with all the info we need. I know it’s easily accessible on the website, but just the sake for convenience, I think providing the correct information would be beneficial to everyone. Otherwise, I highly recommend this app for you to book your appointments and earn some badges for all the good you do in donating.

Adequate app, when it works. I use the app to schedule platelet appointments, but it is often glitchy and frustrating to use. This particular time, after choosing a day/time/location for donating, the log-in page wouldn’t load no matter what I tried. So I closed the app and started all over again, only to find that the appointment I was trying to schedule HAD been confirmed — even though I hadn’t “logged in” which was described as a required step. Confusing, but typical. The previous time I tried to schedule a same-day appointment. Three time slots were available, but the app wouldn’t confirm any of them so I called the scheduling department and was told (after a lengthy delay) that the staff didn’t want to stay around for the last two open times. So why were they shown on the app???

Antibody test results don’t provide enough info in app. The app added a section where you can check your covid antibody test results after your blood donation. I love that the Red Cross is doing this and was impressed that they were able to update the app to display the results so quickly. HOWEVER, I have donated multiple times since the pandemic started and since this feature was added and it only ever says that the result it is displaying is from the “last donation” even after I’ve donated again. This info would be more helpful if it told us which donation the test results were referring to.

First time donor. The app is informative, helpful, and easy to use! Moreover, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and painless it is to donate blood! The rapid pass also helps speed up the process. I wish I would have donated sooner knowing how much it helps so many people. However, I was turned away in my college years due to “small veins” and figured I wasn’t a candidate. I am so glad I went back! I am a nurse, and have worked in many areas. Having worked in Intensive Care, I have seen first hand how much blood is needed and used! This app keeps track of my donations and how often I can donate as well as other helpful tools like; preparing for donation, blood type, and Rapid Pass. I will definitely be doing my part by donating as often as able now that I’ve experienced how easy it is and how much it saves lives! (I’ve had blood draws more painful and timely than this experience!) So grateful I was asked to donate! I hope I can encourage more people to do their part and donate! Thanks for all you do, ARC! ❤️

Must Have Been Designed By A Committee of First Graders. EVERY time I have used this app to make an appointment I must follow up with a phone call because the appointment does not show up. It would be great to hit an “8 weeks” or “16 weeks” button to schedule my next donation but I have to go through some nonsensical gyrations to find the date that I have to figure out myself. I used to be able to schedule my next appointment by handwriting the time into a calander that was turned to the date 8 or 16 weeks into the future. It worked every time. This app has been a disaster since it first came out and no attempt has been made to improve it. One star because I can call up my ID card when I sign in. The Red Cross would be surprised about how many more donors would show up if they made signing up easier.

Incredibly intuitive app! Love it. I cannot believe this app currently only has 3.6/5 stars. Two things that would be nice to see: 1) please don’t show drives in my smart scheduling results that do not have open slots 2) love the “badges” and “impact” functionality it would also be really cool if the app offered some “donation tips” that would have general facts and FAQs but could also be tailored to users based on their blood type. For example I had an interesting little conversation with the person that was taking my blood last about how it would really impactful for me to be donating platelets due to my blood type. Little interesting facts like that could help guide people to maximize their donations. Keep up the great work!

Great convenience. I love the digital donor card and the rapid pass. I also like to schedule appointments with the app. I appreciate being able to track my donation. It is easy to see my past donations and eligibility to donate again. One thing that could be better is the scheduling area. It can be a little “clunky” to get to exactly where and when. Instead of getting info for next available day at your specific blood center, you have to click on each day individually to see if there is an opening. All in all I really like to use this app.

A nice app, but could use a little more.. First off, I LOVE to donate blood, and this is a great app to keep me motivated. It allows you to book appointments, see your donation history, and even earn badges to keep you motivated. The app is very useful. However, it could use more programming to turn a great app to an AMAZING app. First, we need to be able to complete the RapidPass via the app. Second, there needs to be more badges. Third, more connectivity to social media so we can share our pride for giving and hopefully inspire others. And fourth, more interactive tracking of the blood donations. I love knowing where my donation goes! Again, this is a GREAT app already, but wish it had a little more.

Need Rapid pass in App. Please add rapid pass in app, and also some new badges would be fun to help with even more motivation. Some ideas- different seasonal badges, holiday weekend badge, birthday month badge, maybe there could be a part of the app where we write notes about each donation (for our own use) for example- "ate 30minutes before donation and I felt great after", "felt better after drinking juice" etc. and reminders about each donation to improve future donations. This app is motivational for me because I can keep track of my donations and remember to be proud of what I have done to help!

Destination of my platelet donation in app. I love that in the app you can see the results and date of each of your Covid-19 antibodies results and some of the other new features. However, the destination of each of our donations has been removed. Please add that back in. It was nice to be able to go into the app to see the destination rather than search for the email or wait for the text. I still like getting the texts and emails for destination but I want it in the app too. Many donors are waiting to update their apps until the destination feature is added back in. Thank you for listening.

Pay it forward. Thank you for developing this app & getting it to be interactive and up to speed. I am hoping the appointments can be connected to the calendar, posting to Facebook and there can be an area to list medications in future application updates. The rapid pass could also ask questions with previous answers in mind. (ie. any changes since last donation? If I answered ‘no’ to questions about the 1980’s- I can never answer ‘yes’. Of course, this will have to change when time travel is invented.). Other than that- I love it and am proud & honored to give with or without an app.

Great user experience!. In paper age, the time waiting in line, getting myself identified and run thru the questions took almost the same amount of time for the actual blood donation part. With this app, not only I can get the questions done beforehand and save time, my identity and past donation history is all within this app. Great user experience! One suggestion, implement a “smarter” scheduler system that can recommend donation spots based on preferred days/times/locations. Currently I have to sift thru all donations within a 14 days range to find the perfect donation time/place.

Donate Blood: Pay it Forward. I have been donating blood for awhile now. I love having the chance to be able to save someone’s life, and make a difference for other people. The process to donate whole blood is that not long a good 30minutes and that is it, next is Plasma for me. You feel great after, and the Red Cross does a great job making you feel at ease, no pressured into doing things you don’t want to do. The app is great, easy to manage. The only downfall to the app is when you have your appointment the day of, I wish you could be able to see the location of were it is at instead of taking screenshots, I’m not very good with directions. Lol, well worth it!!

The App is fine, but what is going on with giving Blood?. I’ve given blood twice before, I’m a universal donor and enjoy giving blood when I can. However I stopped going as weight requirement seems to change every time I go. I am a 5’3 120lbs female, and I have been relatively this same weight give or take 5 lbs since I was 16 and started donating. However recently, I keep getting turned away for being “underweight” even though the App says the minimum is 110lbs. And it’s not like they turn me away right away, I waited 2 hours to go just to finally get in and have them tell me I’m underweight. Standardise your requirements, and if you’re going to call me about the blood shortage, at least let me give you the blood you’re asking for.

Back button. This app is great! I can keep up with appointments, make appointments, cancel them, tells the blood type, anything special, the number and history of donations, literally everything about my blood donation! The best feature is getting the rapid pass done before arriving for my appointment saving time. My only complaint is when navigating the app it is extremely frustrating that 90% of the pages do not have a back button, previous page button or home button!!! So then you are stuck on what ever page forcing you to either exit the app and wait for it to reset Or delete it and start all over again. Please, add a home, back our previous page button to ALL pages. (This is the only reason I rated it a 4 -otherwise it would be a 5).

Rapid pass is the only thing that works. After signing up for an account, I booked and confirmed an appointment to donate. However, when I showed up, they were not expecting me and couldn’t find me anywhere in the system. They had to book me again. Also trying to find an appointment slot is maddening. The app shows every date and location near you, even if there are no tome slots available. The search results should only show locations and dates that actually have availability so you don’t have to click through every possible date to find one. There is apparently only 1 available slot in the next 14 days near me, but it won’t let me book- says I’m not eligible for the slot but doesn’t tell me why.

Donation Data to HealthKit. This is a beautifully designed app with simple controls, fluid responsiveness, and low-user memory load. The app makes scheduling appointments easy and fun, and is the only reason why I donate as often as I do. The only improvement I’d like to see is more access to our health statistics sent to Apple’s Health app. This would add accurate and enriching data to log my health over longer periods of time. I like to think of my blood donations as mini checkups to spot potential health issues down the road, so it’d be amazing to see that data actually logged into the Health app. This data (blood pressure, pulse, hemoglobin, etc) is already displayed minimally when flipping the digital donor card to the history side, but I’d like it to be recorded forever to give me more accurate health data and make my donations even more valuable to me as a donor. Thanks!

Good well rounded app. Scheduling is easy, if interested you can follow the progress of your blood from giving it all the way till it’s sent to a person in need. Your donor card is easy to find in case you don’t feel like carrying around your physical copy plus you can read over all information and answer the questions they ask on this app so that cuts down wait time when you are there. Over all i am pretty happy with this app, it also keeps track of how much you have given very clearly on the home page which I like.

IPad compatibly. It does not work completely with iPad using version 13.7. It works only in portrait mode which is annoying but usable until time to either print or email the pass. Only the left third of the keyboard is available and no amount of manipulation will yield the full keyboard. If you happen to need the right side of the keyboard to even begin your email address, you don’t even have suggested emails from which to choose. Printing was not an option once I clicked on the forward button. I was forced to take a picture of the pass from another device. Hopefully this will be acceptable later today when I need it.

Great App, Love the Badges!. This app makes signing up for blood donations quicker and is very useful to find donation appointments happening in your area. I haven’t had any problems with the app crashing but I know everyone’s phones operate differently. I also love the badges you get it makes donating fun in addition to a team you can join. My only suggestion is I wish there was an informational section on phenotypes. I found out I was a rare donor and wanted to look up what phenotypes made my blood rare on my own but I think that would be a cool feature on the app!

Great App - Request for Filtered Search Results. The app has always been great for seeing blood donor history, finding upcoming blood drives, and keeping your Rapid Pass! But now that blood drives are all booked up - the search functionality is a bit frustrating. I think the search results should only return blood drives that either allow walk-ins or have available appointments. I’m trying to find a local place to donate and every search result I click on is full these days. Great that so many people are donating - but makes for a not so great user experience in the app!

Rapid Pass freezes occasionally when I tap Start Questionnaire. When this app is functioning, it’s really good. I donate platelets fairly frequently and like to check to see where they were sent to help people. I donate in Liverpool, NY (near Syracuse) and my platelets have gone as far away as South Carolina. Pretty cool. Trying to collect badges in the Badges section has been a good motivator, too. My only complaint is that every 12 donations or so, I have to delete this app and reinstall it, as it freezes and will NOT start the Rapid Pass Questionnaire when I tap the Start Questionnaire button. I’m going to reinstall it now so I can donate platelets later today - the Rapid Pass is a great time saver - but please, will somebody at ARC do something to fix this problem? Please?

Nice app, 2 enhancement opportunities. Really appreciate the Rapid Pass to speed the process! Enhancement opportunities. Smart scheduling feature should auto suggest the date 8 weeks after the last scheduled appointment, if it’s within the 8 week window, otherwise use today or next 14 days, or the next day of the week from previous appt. Also, after my donation today (in Nov), I tried to schedule my next one, but the app would not allow scheduling past Dec, it kept going back to today’s date. I finally realized I had to flip to next year (I’m scheduling a Jan appt 8 weeks from now). Recommend updating the UX to make it easier (such as auto update the year when scrolling past Dec, or an alternate date picker like a calendar view). An updated smart scheduling feature, above, should also reduce issues like this since the system would auto select.

Remarkable App!. The American Red Cross has put together an excellent app that allows you to schedule a blood donation appointment, check your eligibility and review your history of donation. Everything you need to know about eligibility and donation is provided on the app. In addition, for a limited time, they are testing for COVID-19 antibodies and providing your results with your permission on the app. I also love that they show where (for me St Catherine’s Hospital) your blood donation ends up being used. I also appreciate that the app allows you to schedule a donation based on a location, date and time that is convenient for you. If your schedule changes, it is also easy to reschedule your appointment. ARC sends out plenty of reminders too so that you don’t forget. Truly an outstanding app!

Works well so far.. This worked well to set up my RapidPass. That was my main goal in using this app. I would like to be able to track what happens to my donation and evidently this only works when one has scheduled one’s appointment through the app. It seems to me that this ought to work for appointments scheduled through the app as well as those scheduled through either a phone call or online through a web browser. My biggest complaint is that the COVID-19 test results are shown as coming from my “latest blood donation.” I would really prefer it if they would give the date of that test so I know it’s from the donation I just made and not potentially from a donation from a couple months ago. When one has just donated blood, I would expect to see the prior COVID-19 test results with a date as well as an indication that the app is waiting for new results from the recent donation. In fact, I would really like it if there was a history of the COVID-19 test results available in the app.

One step forward, 2 steps back. The app seems to be improving by baby steps, but then they try to include too much, which makes things difficult to find. One of the old versions use to let us see the impact we had as individuals with our donations. The past few versions try to get us to join a team & only shows the team impact. I don’t want to join a team & STILL can’t see the impact of my own donations. Why delete something like that from the app?? I do like the progress report toward the annual rewards, that is a nice addition. Sometimes less is more & more is less.

Please filter search results by available appointments. I just lost my wife as a donor because she was searching for times to give blood, kept finding locations, and they were all full. Please, please filter out results that don’t have any available times. On the first 12 search results, we had to go through all of them to find one that had an open slot. In frustration, she gave up. Please only show results that actually have times, or give us the option of filtering by it.

Great app. I am able to track my donation, schedule my appt, complete Rapid Pass and learn about donating. I didn’t realize it tracks hemoglobin & blood pressure till someone else mentioned it, I think that should be more readily available & labelled. It would also be nice to have a section to add your own notes about visits, names, info that might be helpful. My hemoglobin wasn’t high enough to donate last time, I could have added notes about why, what to watch for & things to refer back to. I also love that is adds the appt into my calendar, w/ reminders. All in all a great app.

Unable to record donation for today. There is no option to add today’s donation on the app. Although I have an option to reschedule, cancel and invite a friend; there should be an option to add today’s donation completed. Also, there should be an automatic calendar update for when I can donate again 56 days from my last whole blood donation. I believe this will make donating easier and more streamlined. Having the ability to automatically notify me when I can donate again would help out a lot so I don’t have to count calendar days out each time.

Cannot login on app. I downloaded the app knowing it would make appointments easier. I want to donate more often because blood donations saved and could have saved my family in certain circumstances and I want to be able to help someone else’s loved ones have an opportunity as well. I downloaded, deleted, restarted my phone, downloaded again and it keeps telling me it cannot sign me in. I even reset my password online and it works well on the website but I cannot get the app to cooperate. I have no idea what the app is capable of since I cannot get through. Please help.

Super cool getting updates on your donation. This made donating such a smooth experience, from finding an appointment near me, to filling out my rapid pass, to adding it to my calendar. All those tasks add friction, so this app actually made it much more likely that I will donate. Plus, I can see where my donation went and know for certain it’s been used! So cool. Push notifications are awesome for this use case and a great engagement pattern.

Track your donation. I love 90% of this app, I really love giving platelets, that being said I would really like to be able to track my donation to the hospital. I’m always very curious where it ends up. I always schedule with in the app but it never shows up in the track your donation it just says to schedule with in the app to track. I’ve tried multiple times but it doesn’t work at all, please fix this, I think it would be even more motivating to see where my donation ends up. Thank you

Hard to schedule. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but when I search for a drive, I get a list of possibilities but it doesn’t tell me if the drive is full until I tap on one of them. It would be nice if you could filter by drives that aren’t full. Or at least have it show right in the list like it does on the website. Many drives are filling up fast since they’re including COVID antibody testing (all drives are full several weeks out), so its a pain to have to click around so much, only to see that the drive is full.

Not bad.. Offers a lot of information and insights about the blood donation process as well as your donation history. Makes scheduling appointments very easy and the ability to do the Rapid Pass and have your donor card in one place on your phone makes checking in nearly seem less. I don’t use the social media (Selfie/sharing) function. Would be curious to see some aggregate donation data from various geographies though- for example 7-day average donations across my city, state, gender, age range, etc.

Great for scheduling; other parts need work. Scheduling in the app is a breeze. Great that it offers to put the appointment in my calendar. And although it’s annoying to have to schedule in the app if I want to see my blood journey, I don’t mind too much. But if I schedule a platelet donation and click What To Expect, it tells me the actual donation takes 8-10 minutes and involves one needle. That’s wrong—and platelet donors really need to know it takes 3 hours start to finish, and that you can’t move your arms for the 2-hour donation time.

Enhance the notification process. The app is fine for completing your Rapid Pass and viewing the details for your latest donation. Some areas of improvement for frequent donors, especially those doing regular platelet donations: 1) track number of donations in the rolling 12 month period, and allow donors to set and receive an alert when they’re within 2 donations of hitting the 24 limit 2) show fluid losses and allow donors to set an alert for this as well 3) display the destination information for all donations, not just the appointments scheduled through the app 4) allow new appointments to be scheduled between two existing appointments - don’t force them to be a later date or have to cancel all future appointments and reschedule 5) add platelet specific option to the donor selfie frame options

Makes scheduling easy. The app has improved since I first used it 6 months ago. I love that after donating yesterday I can immediately schedule when I’m next eligible - I try to donate as often as possible but hated the phone calls so would drop the ball on scheduling. It’s also kinda cool to see your blood journey and some of your previous vitals. It’s not medical advice so more than the basics would be unnecessary.

Great app, one suggestion. This app works really well and makes managing your donations really easy. They have badges for donation milestones, how many gallons you have donated, which is great. The problem is the count is based on how many times you have donated, not the volume of blood donated. I have donated a gallon, but since I do power reds, it has only been in 6 sessions so I am not getting the gallon milestone. It would be nice to have the milestones accurately reflect how much blood I have donated.

Scheduling. I would like a calendar so I can see my appointments and so I know when I should donate next. My personal email is the last place to go, work emails take presidents. I’d love to log in and be able to see my appointments, suggested future donations and can provide a link to schedule an appointment. I want to login and see when my current donation is and when the next donation is possible to donate blood or platelets instead of just schedule an appointments I need to see my appointments so I can plan my schedule to accommodate available openings at the Red Cross

Scheduling is Broken. I love the concept of the app - and I love making a difference by donating, but scheduling an appointment simply doesn’t work. No matter the refinement criteria in a search it always shows donation locations in the search results that really don’t have available appointments. You have to click on the location and then it says there are no available appointment times???? Don’t show the option to schedule at a particular location in the search results if there aren’t really options to truly schedule.

Not at all user friendly. This app is terrible. Your are asked to read documents which open in super small PDF files. This requires continually zooming in and zooming out to find it. Then I finished the questions and there was NO option to print or email the questionnaire just options for complete or done. It directs you to your profile to find it but if it's there it's not obvious. I moved through every option and couldn't find it. No time savings at all! I didn't 30 minutes on it and I will have to go through all of it in person anyways. Also the help center isn't answering calls today. This frustration is why more people are not motivated to donate blood.

Good app, but history tracking is broken. I love the app to schedule appointments and now being able to complete my rapid pass within the app. One downfall of the app is, the blood journey history portion is broken. I receive text messages that my donation has been delivered to a hospital and to download the app to see. Well I can’t see any of my recent trips and the journey that was made. I donate monthly and my children and I are always interested in seeing where it goes. Please fix this portion of the app. Thanks!

Can’t do much without internet. You can’t use the app without internet, and ironically, it can’t connect to the internet at my local Red Cross for some reason. So I can never use it to check in or pull up my rapid pass. At work (or anywhere else) using my plan’s data, I can’t use the app to schedule a donation. Every other app on my phone works with data so I’m not sure what the issue is with this one (there’s a specific “you are not connected to the internet” message that pops up when you open it). Most of the time I just call Red Cross directly. The app ends up being pretty pointless.

Great start, needs work. At first glance, this is a slick tool for keeping up on blood donation appointments and tracking donations. The badges are fun, the appointment reminders and ability to complete RapidPass and digital Donor card are very helpful. Some pieces of the app are just buggy or broken, though: blood journey has never worked for me, it’s cumbersome to make multiple appointments because you have to start over each time, the recognition programs aren’t integrated at all, and some of the navigation is repetitive while others are near impossible to find. Needs some work, please don’t abandon the app!

Make a Game Out of It. I love this app! Donating blood is a great way to help people, and this app makes it significantly easier and simpler. On top of that, it tracks how much blood you’ve donated, what kinds of donations you’ve made, and how many people you’ve helped save. It even gives you badges and other rewards for reaching certain milestones. They’ve essentially turned donating blood into a video game where the goal is to save as many lives as possible, and I love that.

Great app!. I’m very impressed by how well-done this app is. It’s very helpful for finding donation sites and scheduling appointments. The Rapid Pass feature is also a great time saver. It lets you fill out the screening form ahead of time and speeds up the donation process. I think the app is also very intuitive and easy to view (none of this text in 9 point gray font on a white background nonsense that so many other apps use). Very well done!

Would like to add a photo for my donor team. Right now there is no way to add a photo for the blood donor teams. Teams that registered early on have nice logos uploaded, but my team, Sheep Dog Impact Assistance, has a generic stock image as its photo and I can’t change it. Red Cross customer service also can’t do anything about it. Please make it possible to refine our team image as we are now in the top 100 teams! Thanks.

Better tracking. 2 suggestions for the App. 1. Allow you to see how many units were given during each platelet donation. You’re able to see the total units, but not per donation. 2. Add a counter for number of donations next to the total units donated in the top right. I guess you could go into donation history and count each donation, but that doesn’t seem practical. If there is a badge for # of donations (gallons), there should be a readily easy way to monitor that progress.

Needs help. After many tries I can schedule my appointment correctly. When I get a text telling me I can now see my blood journey on the app I try and get the message that I do not have a blood journey unless I schedule with the app. That’s the only way I do schedule my appointments! I also only donate platelets so does that mean I don’t get to see my blood journey? I have a team but my appointment doesn’t show up on it. I used the rapid pass in the app for my last appointment and it did work. Fix the “blood journey” portion if you are going to tell us to use it!

Stopped working. Worked well for my first couple of donations. No longer shows current blood journey. I’ve donated 5 times, badges say only 3 times. Last two donations aren’t showing up on app. I’ve emailed the Red Cross customer service. They said they would pass information to their tech team. Never heard back. The issues have not been addressed. Unfortunately you can’t donate without using the app. Either on your device or theirs when you arrive at the donation center. Technology gone awry. Disappointed.

If you donate at all, get this app. I’ve been using this for over six months. Super easy to use, and all your data is there like blood pressure and blood type! The rapid pass and donor card make it SO fast and simple to get ready and checked in. I also love that you can join a team and see a collective growth, plus there’s always some alert of promotion going on.

New update has problems. I was happy with the app until the most recent update. After updating, the app lost my information regarding number of donations and badges. Information for these went back to “one” donation, like I was a first time user. Also, the blood journey for my last donation is inaccurate. I received an email saying that the blood had been used at a particular hospital and the app still shows it is in storage, 2 weeks later. Overall, not a big deal, but it was fun keeping track of these items through the app when it worked.

Update destroyed the app. After the last update I am no longer logged in. Then once trying to log in does not recognize email or password. Won’t even recognize email to send login information. I have to say though I should not be surprised that the app is not user friendly because the while process of donating is not user friendly. I mean seriously if I answered questions about were I was in the 80’s and 90’s the first time the answer will never change! I do not have a time machine ! After the initial questionnaire follow up questions on subsequent visits should be scaled back greatly.

Easy Peary. I donated blood for the first time a week ago. I was coming off a really good doctor’s appointment and wanted to do something helpful. I had made up my mind about a month ago to become a donor and downloaded the app. It is a first class app with timely and appropriate information. I got my results posted in a timely manner (O negative) and was able to schedule my next donation. Having my digital donor card and info on this app is very helpful😄😄😄

Great job! Room for improvement.. Great app! Easy to book appts and see your donation history. The app is easy for me to use however, there is room for improvement. The part where you can collectively join a team to encourage others to donate needs work. I invited my family to my team and none of them were able to join. I sent direct invites and still they cannot join. I’m not sure what the problem is but this needs to be fixed because there is nothing better than working as a team to save lives.

Red Cross. I like how easy it is to sign up to donate! I enjoy the amount of information that is included within the app about each type of donation (plasma, platelet, RBC, and whole blood). I use this app multiple times a year and donate based upon what type of donation is urgently needed or what donation would be most beneficial in regards to my specific blood type. I agree with another review that the badges are pointless in reference to what month you donate. Overall the app makes donating blood more accessible and encourages me to donate more frequently.

A little buggy but overall decent. I’ve been donating for years and noticed the appointments you schedule on the app may not be recognized at the location if made on the same day as the appointment - so call to confirm. Also, the Rapid Pass on the app is very slow sometimes - but other than those 2 items, it’s a nice app! I like the ability to see past donations, see the local blood drives and their distance from me, access my donor card and see my past blood pressure and heart rate numbers :-) Keep up the good work!

Easy scheduling and history review. This app makes the donation process almost frictionless. App makes it easy to find opportunities for donation, schedule appointment, and review donation history. The rapid pass feature is wonderful, first time I used it was after downloading this app, and I will use it again. I much prefer answering all those very personal questions this way than face to face.

Frustrating app to use.. I found an appointment time that worked and booked it, even had the app auto-save the appointment in my calendar. When I went in to the location the drive was supposed to be at, they told me the drive was held days ago and there wouldn’t be another one for a week. After that I tried to re-book another appointment. I found another in my area but soon realized that time slot was for noon the previous day, like I don’t even know how that’s possible. App seems to be broken and in serious need of maintenance. I ended up just calling the Red Cross number to book over the phone.

First Time Donor who fears needles. One of my best friends posted about this app on Facebook and really got me interested. I have never donated before and using the app made it easy to schedule an appointment that worked for my schedule at a location near my home. In this app is as much information as I want to read and I read all of it which made it easier as a person who fears needles to go and do something that I feel really great about. And how much fun is it to be able to earn achievements ?!?!

Should be able to see blood journey regardless how you schedule. I like the app overall. I like to see my blood donation journey however I found it doesn’t always work. I made my appointment in the app but the Red Cross rescheduled it (due to that drive cancelling) so I think that screwed up me being able to see it. They don’t give a date on the antibody test. So with my last donation since I can’t see the blood journey I can’t tell if it’s from a previous donation or with my most recent. Rapid pass feature is great.

Love the App. I like that your your old history is stored, I love that you can answer the Rapid questions in advance. That cuts down the wait time a great deal. I love that you get to see the full process and progress of your donations. I wish we had a full Service in my area that I can give platelets the closest location is 2hrs away for a 3 hr process. But over all I’m Thankful that giving is helping. Keep up the great work to all of us the are continuing to be donors. And Kuddos to all the workers💜

Blood Donations are amazing. This app is of course great to keep track of all blood stuff, make appointments to give blood, and set up a rapid pass without having to get to the facility so early to fill it out. The staff is so friendly and is willing to help you and give you anything you need. Thank you to American Red Cross for making the donation process easy and for making it a great way to give back to other people in need!

Gives you back some control.. Often the scary part about giving blood is not knowing what to expect or not having a feeling of control due to not being able to… “drive the car”. This app helped me feel knowledgeable about the process and in charge of my journey. It offers some transparency and it’s actually fun to follow along and book appointments with. Very easy to use and now I know my blood type too! *wink

J. App is junk. First I give blood, a couple weeks ago. I used the app for RapidPass, so it WAS working. But later the donation wasn’t listed on the app. Then I couldn’t get into the app, so I set up a new account. Now I can’t get into the new account, and there’s no record of my account. There was a story in the news the other day about a critical blood shortage. Maybe Red Cross is a big part of the reason. Not just the app-when I went to give blood it was first delayed for almost an hour, then they were talking about canceling all the early appointments, then they finally decided to take the blood. Not the first time I’ve had to deal with logistical snafus with Red Cross.

Works well. In my experience and for my level of use - mainly to schedule appointments, sign in during appointments, and reread information - this app works well. I also like to see my donation history and that works fine. I’ve read that some people have trouble with the journey feature. I’m not too concerned about this personally. Overall five stars for ease of use. I enjoy the simple design theme as well.

2nd and last time donating blood. The 2nd time I donated blood the woman drawing my blood was not friendly and made it very painful when she inserted the needle. I also asked if it’s possible to do it on my left arm where they did it last time and she said I’m doing it in whatever arm I find the vein, whereas the first time I donated she asked for my preference. Even one month later I have a bump on my skin where she inserted it. This is the last time I’m donating. You never know who you are going to get inserting the needle and that’s scary. The first time I drew blood it healed well but this second time it won’t.

So easy to schedule appointments!. Love the app and use it to schedule my platelet donations. One request please: Can you please take a look at the Blood Journey section? Blood Journey is supposed to show where my platelets end up.m, i.e. To which hospital they're sent. Great feature - if it worked. It says it will only show where my blood products go if I scheduled my appt via the app - which I always do. However, Blood Journey section just never seems to register the fact that I scheduled my appointment via the app. That means I can never see that info on the app itself. It's the only part that doesn't seem to work. I do get an Email from the Red Cross giving me that information but it would be nice to have it in the app itself so I don't have to dig through emails later to find it. Otherwise, I love the rest of the app as it's full of great info!

One Problem. Although there is a great deal to like about this app, I recently recognized one problem. I had made an appointment but two days before the appointment I realized I had a conflict. I was unable to go into the app and cancel the appointment and I did not want to be a no-show. I ended up calling the Red Cross and going through the typical series of prompts to finally get to a real person. At that point I was able to easily and quickly cancel the appointment. If I am incorrect and cancellations can be made on the app, I would sure like knowing that.

Pretty good. Rapid pass is cool, but the app does not ask you if you want to donate plasma with your platelets which is kind of weird and also something I did not know (until I went to donate) was even a thing. Other people have valid complaints but I don’t mind really. I guess I should mention that the app has worked fine for me, no crashes or bugs and seems the same for other people since I haven’t seen any complaints about that.

“Rapid pass”. Unable to complete the rapid pass on the app. Maybe my phone, but i restarted it and updated the app and it kept freezing. I thought it was my Wi-Fi so then i usef my cellular data which still didn’t work. That was at home, so once i got to the place hosting the blood drive and connected to that wi-fi, i was still unable to complete the rapid pass. I was able to complete the rapid pass on the website however.

Almost perfect!. I have only one complaint about appointment system. Last two times system choose near to my home address but this time offered near to my work address. I couldn’t change that. Maybe my mistake I don’t know. Also I wanted come with one of my friend but we couldn’t take appointments together to same spot. Appointment options must more easy to setup. Again maybe it’s my mistake but you must think about that because many donors is old people and they are not good with technology like me. 😊

RapidPass. App is a great idea. The RapidPass, even better, but... the app says you can start the RapidPass process as early as 24 hours prior to the appointment time. That’s true, but if you do it prior to midnight before the scheduled appointment, the donor center can’t use it. So you end up answering the questions all over, again. Either the app timeframe needs to change to match the donor centers, or the donor center needs to be able to access a rapid pass completed prior to midnight. I did mine at 11:51pm, because it was 9 minutes before midnight, I got to do it all over again.

Love this app. It’s so easy to find a donation location and keep track of donation availability with this app! I was able to find a platelet donation location as well which I never thought to look for before! You can complete he rapid pass so quickly and make check in super easy. The coolest part I think is the notifications of where your donation is sent...it’s something I didn’t consider before but is definitely heart warming and a huge incentive to continue with regularly scheduled donations!

Time Saver. The way this app is set up is awesome! The scheduling features that allow you to be able to see upcoming blood drives and platelet appointments have made picking them and making time for them so much easier. The interface is easy to use and has little to no learning curve. The ability to also check your donor history and have info on when you can donate next is great as well. Can’t wait for future updates!
