Great multi-use app. I am another speech pathologist and heartily agree that this app is at least as good as other more expensive apps designed to work with articulation. I have used it with several children who enjoy the opportunity to record themselves as well as hear the words pronounced. It's difficult to find good apps that include initial, medial and final sounds as well as digraphs. I have not been able to figure out how to delete a student when he/she is finished with app--my only complaint.

joyful. I like this app in that I do not have to look for words or pictures since they are both there in an instant for therapy. It also helps my student to hear themselves and decide if what they have said is correct. This allows they to start monitoring their own speech which is necessary for carryover therapy. Great app.

Mommy how are you doing today hope you have a good day today. I love you so much love Victoria

A good start. I could see how this could be confusing to parents, especially those without a child in speech therapy. This is an articulation app for speech language pathologists (SLPs) to target sounds in therapy. The app has decent number of pictures to practice. The main issue is one another reviewer already mentioned is that speech therapy is governed by the phonetic alphabet not the traditional ABCs. The developers just need to look at other articulation apps to understand what sounds to address and how to categorize them. For free though, this will work in a pinch.

Very good, but can be great!. This app has excellent potential, but could use some improvements. For example, the "s" sound photos include "sh" sound photos. That does not make sense in speech therapy. Also, it is suggested that there be 10 cards per sound position for data collection purposes. The photos are very realistic and colorful! Please update. Thanks!

Appropriate for older kids too.. This app has clear photos of items without a lot of clutter. Students are able to tape their responses and listen to themselves easily. Then pictures are appropriate for preschool through adults.

Great app, with minor glitches. This is a great app, especially for the price! I noticed some words with the wrong sounds in them, however. Such as "shovel" in with initial S sound, and for final S, many of the words end in the letter S, but with a Z sound.

Great. Easy to use. My 4 year old is in speech theropy. This gives me something fun to do in addition to items coming home. The record feature is easy to use and let's him hear what he says right and wrong.

SLP. This is a nicely made free app in need of many revisions as far as categorization by sound goes. There are no digraphs: sh, ch, th. It is useful for other artic goals. It's great as long as you don't mind skipping over the inappropriate stimulus words in many sections. Needs to be revised and updated! Phonics Genius is a nice free alternative. One bonus is there are some r controlled vowel decks to target ar, er, air, ect.

Inconsistent, not true to phonemes. I'm an SLP and just looking at the medial /p/ position they included the words "telephone", "dolphin" and "trophy". If you're working on medial /p/ these should NOT be included, they are /f/ sounds! Come on, how basic is that? Also, they have a section for blends in which they include /pt/ but these same words are in the "core" medial /p/ section. If you customize and take them out, you're left with precious few words, and some, although we like to increase vocabulary, are quite obscure such as "tapir". If you're going to break it down to positions, please be consistent to the "core" position. It's hard enough to get some kids to produce the phoneme around vowels, don't make them do it in a blend in the core section! Please fix or I will have to delete.

Potential. I am an slp and was pleased to find this app. After downloading it, I noticed that the letter "S" has the word "shovel." Is there a way this word could be replaced? As the word shovel has the "sh" sound not the "s". Thank you.

Full of sounds. My students love being able to record and play back their speech!

Wow! Great Little Artic App!. This was an unexpected find...an Artic app made by Grasshopper Apps! Although some of the terminology differs from what SLPs might use, this is, quite simply, a very useful app for articulation remediation. Beautiful pictures, full-featured, and even tracks progress across multiple users. Best for use with speech therapist during therapy practice. Excellent value and is competitive with some of the big name Artic apps. Every SLP should get this for their practice! This is a winner in my book!

I like it. I enjoy this app, it is useful!

My son loves this!. Our son is PDD – NOS on the autism spectrum. He has a very odd speech impediment that makes him learn words word by word. He is working with a speech pathologist at school and when we found this app he fell in love with it. Some people may not like the organization behind five to my autistic son the organization is perfect. We have looked at many apps for articulation and this is by far his most favorite. The ability for him to hear a word say the word then play his speech side-by-side is extremely helpful for him to see any correction that we provide.

Completely customizable. I am an SLP and I love how this app is completely customizable! It was so easy to create my own folder and add pictures to it. It was a bit cumbersome to only be able to add one photo at a time though. Otherwise, very motivating app for younger kids working on speech sounds.

Great app!. Great app! Not sure why it doesn’t have the full alphabet, but that may just be me not knowing phonics?? Example Q and H are missing. Been helping my nephew a lot !

This app is amazing. I am a speech pathologist and have been utilizing this app to work on articulation therapy. When you first download this app it is preloaded with words that you can immediately use. The best part is the lists are fully customizable, you can even add your own words using pictures you take. So, lets say that you want to use this app for speech and not for reading, and you want to work on the /s/ sound but there are words with the "sh" sound mixed in. With a simple couple button clicks you can delete those and add your own. I also love that you can email the results and recordings. Great app!

Great app and it's free!. I just downloaded this app. This app has been impressive in that it does everything the "pay for" app does. I'm excited to see everything it can do. Not sure about the whole recording thing, but I'm sure once my son starts to use the app more, it will come in useful! That's the only reason I gave it four stars was because I just downloaded and haven't used all of its capabilities.

Great app. Great app! I use this a lot in speech therapy. The kids enjoy it and really benefit from listening to themselves as ear training. Some of the words are more complex than i'd like, but you can skip those and use the star button to save your favorites in a customized practice list. Really great app. Thanks for this.

Thank you. My 5-yr old has an extreme disarticulation. I just got an iPad & found this app. Wow! He loved playing it with me. Once he heard his own voice following mine, he tried so hard to improve. I'm going to ask his speech therapist if they have this. He can't wait to try it again. Imagine that, a learning app as a reward!

Fantastic!!. This app is exactly what my son needs! Great clear photos, ability to easily record his voice, easily hear correct pronunciation by app, and the app records his progress. I can also add words, pictures and pronunciations to the app. I'm very impressed and we will use this app frequently!! Thanks much!

Not designed by an SLP. This app has great potential. However, the sounds are organized by alphabet and not by proper phonemes. Choosing /t/ gives words that include /sh/ sounds, /tch/ sounds, etc. which is not useful for an SLP! Please hire a knowledgeable SLP to help you reorganize the sounds phonetically rather than how they are spelled! I cannot use this app the way it is now...please fix!

Not perfect but good value. I’m a parent of a toddler with a speech delay. I wanted to work with him at home with similar apps the SLP uses at school but they are crazy expensive. This is great for our needs. My only complaint is that it’s clear this app is super old and has no support team left. There are a lot of technical problems with the customization that are frustrating. Despite that it’s worth the price.

Used everyday.... I work in an elementary school where I assist the speech language pathologist. I use this app every single day! I can record my students practice, let them hear their own progress and I share these success stories with the SLP by simply emailing her the recording from our sessions. This program, especially for a free app, is well worth downloading. Functionality is seamless and my kids from grade 1 to 4 all enjoy this new way of practicing speech therapy. Thank you!!!!

Good pictures and vocabulary. I like that this app has a variety of vocabulary. Some of the sound blends are not correct, but other than that it has detailed pictures, and I like the feature that you can "star" certain words as favorites to create your own list.

Cool for kids!. Just discovered - lovin it! The kids love hearing themselves! I love having the data handy that I can email to myself... I just wish - and maybe there is a way I can't figure out - to have more than one student on at a time. But the kids enjoy listening to each other ... And seeing their success.

Cindy's. As with the other SLPs I also love this free app. I do have two suggestions. First, the blends were mentioned and I agree. For example, the "sh" sound is not an "s" blend but a completely different sound. Second some sounds are not correct such as the "g" in giraffe. It should be in the "j" section (which doesn't exist) instead of the "g"s. Also many of the sounds for final "s" are actually a "z" sound. Other similar things but overall a great app and my students LOVE it!

Fairly good 3.5 stars. For a free app this is great! There are so many words and the pictures are great! I use it mostly for articulation therapy and I do recommend it to any speech-language pathologists that are looking for something to try. The only thing that I see wrong with the app is that the blends are not consistent. When you select f blends for instance you will most likely have 3 that are not f blends. Also the pictures could be of more common objects but the app was probably set up for reading not articulation therapy.

Instructions. No directions at all???

Cool Tool. My child is 4, and she loves to hear her voice recorded back to her. It's a way more fun way to brush up on any speech issues I hear than having her imitate me.

Love!. Love this app! To be able to customize each letter and sound my son needs to work on is wonderful!!

Fairly good app. Like the record and play back functions and ability to keep data on individual students. As stated by others, I am disappointed that sounds are organized by letter and not by speech sound. Also agree that some choices for vocabulary are little advanced for most of the kiddos that would be working on these sounds. Needs a little work, but on the right track.

Good but concerns. This app does not seem to have been created by someone with a high degree of knowledge of sounds. Simple for parent/teacher letter use but not well organized for sounds in speech therapy. Record feature and emailability are pluses. Word choices are strange, e.g. "Lentils" for letter L. Curious where app developer is from that influenced word choices.

Great app. My students and I love this app. They like that they can record themselves and I like that I pull up the data and recordings later. I recommend this app to parents so kids can practice at home. There are a few sounds the are in the wrong category. I would like It if it would tally data for multiple attempts on the same word instead of canceling out the previous attempt.

I love it. Nln

Great free app!. I love using this app with my kiddos in therapy. They like to press the check mark when they complete each word, and the pictures and model of each word keep them engaged. I recommend it for parents to practice at home, too!! Great value as it is totally free.

Great app. I love this app for practicing articulation in various word positions. Granted, some of the words are obscure and some are classified incorrectly as far as speech is concerned (blends rather than discrete sounds). I just skip over those words that I don't like or feel aren't appropriate. You can't beat the usefulness of this app for FREE.

I use this daily. I use this daily as a speech language pathologist. Better than some purchased apps. Would love to have it expanded to include other sounds such as 'J' 'ng.'

Not for articulation therapy!. So many errors from a SLP point of view. Categorized by graphemes, not phonemes, so it's a mixed mess of two or more phonemes in some groups. Even the placements for final, initial, or clusters are often incorrect. I could not use this with confidence if this is meant to use in articulation therapy, so what is the point? I am intrigued by the idea of creating my own categories, I have not seen that feature in another artic app. Two stars for that, but I wouldn't pay a dime as is, fix the organization, and you'd have a good app!

Awful interface. My 2 year old loves these apps and I give them very high ratings for that. This one doesn't even make sense and I'm 39! What are you supposed to do after you record your voice and repeat the word? The app isn't actually interpreting what you said and seeing if you said it correctly, it just records what you said and plays it back. Once you record you can't listen to the original pronunciation anymore and the X and check mark symbols just give you a score based on what button you pressed, not the answer. Disappointing.

Very beautiful. Very simple beautiful design, with wonderful pictures. As an SLP it's a great little app. But it goes by spelling not sounds- so not all words in lists actually use the sound of the letter it's representing. Also we must have a different definition for what is considered a blend as not all of the blends are appropriate.

Phonics Studio. The photos are so beautiful - great for my preschoolers! I am an SLP, and with my age group, I try to stay away from blends when working on articulation. I was grateful that I could edit out those words - thank you for that feature! The only reason I gave it 4 stars, was because some sets could've included several more simple, recognizable words. Keep creating wonderful apps we can use in therapy!

Awful!. I am a school-based SLP and was very dismayed with this app! Obviously no thought was put into selecting target words for the phonemes. For example, for /s/ - in the initial position only 13 of the 20 words had initial /s/. The other words had initial /s/ clusters or "sh". Of the correct words, the vocabulary was unusual. Not many students would know ' sandbar' or 'sawdust'. I'm deleting this app!

Where’s the H ?. Is there a reason the app is missing the letter H?

Very impressed. I am a school-based SLP, and I own two paid articulation apps. I was very surprised to see that this freebie holds its own with them! I actually prefer this app to one of the paid ones I have. I can't believe how many features this has--saved recordings, individual student data tracking, sounds broken down by position in word, etc. It really is a great tool!

Great app for the cost. I like this app a lot, but really wish it had an option to indicate approximation. It’s either right/wrong. I love how it’s very simple to record and that it saves the recordings. It would be nice to be able to go back and edit answers.

Artic. Life savor for SLPs. Love this app! It tracks my students progress for me and allows me to email the results to my students' parents and/or teachers. Plus they can hear the session as well. I use this often.

Great pictures and idea. The clarity of the photos are amazing. The ease of use and customizing is excellent? A speech language pathologist needs to be consulted in the word selection within a sound. If each group of words were arranged correctly this app would be an excellent partner for students receiving speech therapy. Looking forward to the update!

Excellent App for Speech Therapy!. I am an SLP and I will tell you that this is a wonderful app designed for articulation/ practice. I feel that the original reviewer did not understand it's purpose, so I will explain. In this app, the user selects a sound to practice, from A to Z. You further select if you want to practice the sound you selected at the beginning, middle, or end of words, or in blends. As each targeted sound is presented in a word in a beautiful photograph, the child touches the picture to hear it pronounced correctly. The child or SLP then pushes a button on screen to record the word. If the user says it correctly given him check, if incorrect, give an x...at the end of the session you will receive a data report on accuracy and even a report card to print. This app allows the use and tracking for multiple students, it is designed to track progress on one student at a time. It is best used with a one on one session with a speech therapist or informed teacher/parent. It does not teach the student the sounds...the adult does this and this app allows the student to practice. It is great to have saved recordings of a student's productions, so that you can see the change over time. This app rivals professional Artic apps that cost a lot more. You can not beat this for the price. ***I would recommend that the developers update this app to provide some basic instructions.

Useful. I agree with the other comments re being grouped by letter instead of sound,as this means it requires more prep than desirable and therefore more of a challenge to suggest for parents to purchase.

Speechie79. The pictures in this app are good, although some are too advanced for primary school children. This app is not arranged by sound, but by letters, which is very annoying for speech pathologists. One example is words ending with 'tion' are grouped into the t blends, even though it contains a /sh/ sound. It makes it hard when mums are using apps like this at home with their children with speech disorders and delays. They can target the wrong sounds, despite trying to do the right thing. Maybe some input by a speech pathologist would be helpful so this app can reach its full potential.

Love this app!. I have been using this app as part of a successful speech program. The other reviews are correct about it being grouped by letter rather than sound, but by checking it out ahead of the session you can easily plan out what you are going to do! I love this app, its been very effective.

Ok. Not something as a speech pathologist I could recommend to parents as pictures are grouped by letter not sound. For example final g had flag/frog/sausage. Frustrating but it is a free app after all. I would use this in sessions or with my own children and skip those words that did not have my target sound.

Many errors. This app organises the pictures by letter. However, many of the pictures do not contain that sound. • Final g – includes the card of ‘sausage’ (pronounced with a final ‘j’) • Blends – there are many words which they cite to include blends that don’t. There are too many to include but this is a sample o eg broth, nature, author, hatch, illustration and thief are included as ‘t’ blends • Final 'a' - the example is soda. This is pronounced as an 'u', not an 'a' sound. Such a shame, because the pictures are beautiful. Parents need to be aware that this is teaching Phonics incorrectly.

Phonics sounds. This app does everything that the more expensive apps do. I have a child with a speech delay and unfortunately many of the words are too difficult for her to pronounce, but generally a. Dry good app.

Great App!. I downloaded this App for my three year old who is finding it hard to speak. We really enjoy trying to say the words whilst using this App! I really like being able to record our voices trying to say the words and the favourite word button is a great idea too! Many Thanks

Where's the H??. My son's name starts with H and he is pretty disappointed there isnt one on the app.

Pretty good. So far this is a good app especially for the price. Allows you to add words/cards which I love. Some of the words are really tricky for my sons age 2.10m with language delay. I'm excited to use this app with my son to help his language delays.

Great app. Has all the sounds available and allows you to choose where the sound is found in the word. Love the data tracking

Great App!. This apps is fantastic. It covers all aspects of speech for kids. My child loves the interactive aspect, being able to play the word, record their voice and flip the pages.

Jim. Awesome! It doesn't get much better then the amazing quality of this product especially for the price

Apps. Great app for articulation therapy!

Simply Beautiful :). This app is simple to use and has beautiful photos. A great way to work with your child or students on their labels and sounds. Luv that you can track data and monitor each child's progress, Well done Grasshopper Apps!

Simple, adaptable, and cheap. It has everything you need and nothing you don't need - sort cards by sound, position, and person and you don't have to deal with superfluous features that you know you'll never need or use. This makes it perfect for working on artic. It's really easy to add cards (with any pictures you want); you're not limited to 'sound packs' like in other apps.

Fantastic!. There are a few sounds that should be in other categories. I love that you can add and delete cards as you would like to. I use this app with the majority of my speech students.

Great for my children. We are using this at home between ST sessions. It is great that they can her themselves and can correct themselves.

Phonics studio. Good App. Wish there were more pictures and vocabulary words to begin with in it's vocabulary.

Free but not worth it. Ok, if you want flash cards, not sure how it teaches sounds? Was hopping for something great but am disappointed.

Awesome. This really helped my sister speech and it just feels like a game

Fantastic app. Excellent product!

Meh. Not a phonics app at all.. This app allows you to record are you enunciate words. Nothing about learning to read and decode phonics.Fine as a Speech app, but the name is misleading.

Not a good app.. This is not a good app. It does not teach children their sounds. This is useless for children learning their sounds.

Preschool slp. Some errors in phonemes (s, sh, etc) but a great free app I use a lot in therapy. Some complex words above a typical vocabulary, but easy to customize.

Disappointed speech pathologist. Great in theory but needs to incorporate the international phonetic alphabet to adequately cover all sound in the English language. Many, many errors from an SLP's perspective. Glad it was free!

Edit. This app has good clear pictures for language development. It is not a good app for articulation training because it is not developmentally based. With improved direction it will be a good supplement to articulation therapy.

Good starts. Good start for young children.

Great. Awesome app!! Works wonders while doing speech therapy. Just wish it would go by IPA instead of the alphabet .

wasn't impress. it doesn't do what is saids its more like flashcards

Missing letters. H J Q X ???? Missing letters makes learning difficult.

Awesome!. This app is wonderful to work on articulation skills. Results can be sent to parents.

Great app. My 4 year old is in speech therapy and this is a great app that he loves to use!

Awesome!. This is the best free app for articulation! Love the real pics and ability to keep data.

SLP. Great App for any age. Love the pictures.

Perfect speech tool!. I am an SLP and my students love this. Great for self-monitoring. It is motivating and well organized. Love how it keeps track of progress too. Wonderful!!!

Review flash cards. This is a really good app for articulation therapy, but you need to arrange some the pictures according to the speech sound vs the letter. For instance, final /g/ has the /d3/ sounds added to it (ex. Garage). You also have consonant blend sounds mixed in with the single speech sound cards.

Errors. This app contains excessive errors for multiple letters and their sounds. The pictures are fine, but don't make up for the quality of this app!

Nice pictures. But not useful in speech therapy .

Great pictures. The pictures are great and I love the data collection. It is pretty limited in flexibility for speech therapy but would be good practice for parents to use.

SLPA. Nice little app to pull out for some fun practice!

Great App!. Excellent product.

SLP. This app is great. I record my production and my client using the record feature and use it to help my client discriminate bt accurate and inaccurate productions.

Great speech app. Lots of sounds and easy for young kids to do independently.

Super useful. Help a lot wiht the kids, I'm a speech therapist but i need spanish Version please

NOT GOOD for learning sounds to words. This is not considered phonics. It does not teach children sounds for the word, it just does the words. This is more like flash cards.

Use it everyday!!!. Found this app and love it for my speech therapy sessions!

Awesome!!!. Awesome app that can be used for articulation practice.

Speech & language pathologist. I am a speech & language pathologist & I love using this app with my students. However, there are a lot of errors. For example a word starting with "sh" is not an "s" blend. This app needs to be reviewed for errors by a speech therapist.

Awesome. I love this app! I love how it has all the letters and you don't have to buy any and it keeps my child's progress! Keep up the good wo

Good App for Preschoolers!!!. Great to help with articulation!

SLP. Great pictures but phonetic complexity is too varied for one set of ten pictures unless they are being used for carryover practice.

ESL teacher. It took a second to play with this but I enjoyed it. It could be used by a student to hear themselves speak English wors and review. Newcomers might benefit more from it.

Need fine dexterity. The theory and photos are lovely. But my almost3 finds the spaces to press the answers too small.

SLP. My speech students love the app. Some of the vocabulary is unusual. Would love to more single phonemes rather than blends.

Artic apps. This is the best free articulation practice app!

Another great app!. I love all the Alligator Apps. I work as an SLP and use them frequently.

Great for practice. This app does not actually teach a sound however it is good for practicing and self monitoring after kids have actually learned how to produce the sound.

Not sure. Needs instructions then I can review it!

Amazing App. My 4yr. Old daughter is having enunciation obstacles. This app is helping her overcome them. Superb!!!

Not all letters are there.. This is not a good app. Not all the letters are there.

Wonderful. Simple, functional, flexible design and format!

Great record feature. Love the record feature. I do question some of the vocabulary choices. Words that elementary aged students are unfamiliar with. But for a free app it is great!

Great app for the kids. As an SLP, I want good apps for teaching to my kids. I have kids from K through 8th grades.

Great app for being free. Really like this app for speech therapy! Would love even more if it said the letter sounds plus the words! Love Grasshopper!

Great app for artic. Love the real pictures for artic practice. Would love to see even more vocab added.
