A Great App, Can Use  Watch 3 Alone Without iPhone. I recently started using iSmoothRun after many years using another app. My reason for switching to iSmoothRun was for the great Apple Watch only tracking of runs with my  Watch 3 with LTE. It’s great to leave my iPhone at home and use all the robust features of the app on the Apple Watch 3. The developer is devoted to updating the app and is testing and adding a number of features for the Apple Watch only usage such as Run/Walk intervals among other features. This is a great app with robust features and customization! A must use app for runners using the iPhone and those looking to use only the Apple Watch too.

App no longer works on iOS 14.3, refund requested. I hate writing this review bc this app was finally the tool I had been looking for - a app that could track and cue interval running. I downloaded the app and used it exactly one time and it worked perfectly. However, every since that first time it has not worked whatsoever. I can open it and play in the settings, but as soon as I press Start Your Run, the app freezes. I've tried all the troubleshooting I can do: closed and restarted the app, deleted and reinstalled the app, made sure my iOS is up to date, and restarted my phone. I even thought I may have overlooked some limited use clause when I downloaded it, so I paid to upgrade to Pro. Nothing has fixed this issue. At this point, I've submitted a refund request to Apple bc the app is broken. Which, as I said in the beginning of this review, is a shame bc I was really really excited to have finally found an app that allowed for interval running programs. If I can't find an alternative, I may try this again in the future on the chance the issues have been resolved.

App isn’t one of the big names but it should be.. I’ve tried them all. Nike, Runkeeper, Strava. No app comes close to the features and improvement this app has. I can create custom workouts, now I see there are charts I never knew about. It has an awesome app for your watch that is fully customizable as well. I am sure I paid for the full version but that had to be years ago. Once in a while I say oh let me try a different running app only to remember why I keep coming back to this one. I can’t say enough good things. Honestly, I don’t see a need for a dedicated Garmin when I have this an my Apple Watch. I can capture my treadmill workouts and outdoor. THIS APP IS THE BEST RUNNING APP EVEN FOR A SERIOUS RUNNER.

Great Update to One of My Favorite Apps. iSmoothRun is an app that I use daily for running, biking, hiking, treadmill, bike machine and mountain biking. It is super extensible with a ton of features not seen elsewhere, especially if you dig down. It’s also great on the Apple Watch. There are a few things I’d still like to see – some more metrics for power and intervals and more nuance in structured power workouts – but I contacted the developer and he said both are on the agenda, which is great! Looking forward to many more workouts with this rock solid app!

Works great except.... No metric support!!! My running coach sent me to the track for a high intensity workout but I couldn’t express her “100 meter” or “400 meter” instructions in the app because I had to choose from 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile distances!!! Easy fix - replace scroll bar with text input and let me do the math to express 100 meters in miles. Add this feature and I’ll update my review. ❤️🏃‍♀️ PS there is an option in settings to switch from “English” to “Standard” - does English = Metric? In any case I couldn’t get this to work despite trying multiple times. PPS not everyone has email on their phones! There should be an email form on your web site. Okay I’ll update my review to four stars since you have the feature I need but honestly. It is well and truly buried!!!

Best running (+more) app for all training!. Totally wowed by how much flexibility this app offers. I follow a regular half marathon or marathon training plan, and this app lets me predefine paced tempo, interval, and extended (long) runs that I can store away and tweak when I do my next event. Packed with loads of features that I’ve found valuable - fastest recorded 1k, 5k, etc, song playlist used for a run, Apple health and calorie tracking, etc. Highly recommend! Although built for running, this app will find fans from walkers, cyclists, etc

Great App. Outstanding service. Update (December 2017) This continues to be an excellent running app. I can program in my workouts, get audio cues and the developer was super responsive to questions. Just started using iSmoothRun and am really enjoying it. What I like about it: - Very easy to set up workouts, including intervals by distance or time - The Pebble app is awesome - I can see everything on my Pebble - Very responsive customer service - Logs all workouts (with everything you wanted to know, including some extras that you may not have thought of) - Integrates with numerous other programs; I use RunKeeper - so all my stuff is also on the web and I can review there. I am looking forward to my running improving as I am better able to plan and track my workouts.

They tried… I guess. This app is not great. I bought it because it was supposed to load up my workouts from TrainingPeaks and it… kind of worked. For some background, if you run a Garmin you can sync your TrainingPeaks workout plans straight to your Garmin. Then you go out, you hit run, your watch says “Did you want to do this workout today?” Hit yes, and then your watch feeds you your workout metrics (speed, heart rate zones, etc) in real time. It’s fantastic. I recently was gifted an Apple Watch and was trying to get my Apple Watch to do the same thing. TrainingPeaks is working on integration straight to Apple but for now this app was supposed to be the solution. So about the app. It loaded up some of my workouts. Out of 16 weeks of runs it showed 5 on my phone and only 1 on my watch. So I load up todays run on my phone and get going, to find out that the Watch app doesn’t keep a consistent timer during the run. The phone app does, but the Watch app does not. The whole app interface is also ugly as it gets. It doesn’t need to be super complex but it really could use a facelift. It’s ugly and unintuitive. After all of that I’m going to just run with my Garmin. This is the “best” option for integrating TrainingPeaks onto your Apple Watch for the moment and it’s terrible at that, and then they also want you to buy the app AND pay for a subscription.

This could be the Garmin killer app. I saw the star ratings and read the reviews then purchased the app without a flinch. Eager to leave my garmin at home and use my Apple Watch Series 3 LTE for workouts. The main feature combination that I want to use doesn’t work: (Custom Workouts using Heart Rate Zones). This feature is documented to work but has never worked for me. Is this a known issue? Will this issue be solved in a future update? I’ve tried many many times to get the iSmoothRun app on my Apple Watch to use the watch’s heart rate monitor and it never works. I have given all health permissions and still. I want to leave my garmin and phone at home. I reached out to support via email and haven’t received a response.

Not Flawless, But Still the Greatest. Lost ability to upload to Nike+, but it seems to be because Nike wants to be exclusive, in the bad way. I love that I can leave my phone at home and just use my watch, that I can integrate a Wahoo Tickr Run with the iSmoothRun app on my watch, and that I can use my Bluetooth headphones all at the same time. I also love that I can create custom workouts to follow as I go. It may be my misuse, but sometimes the Tickr Run syncing to the watch makes the iSmoothRun app not show distance, which makes it basically useless until I sync with my phone again to see how far I ran. Sometimes it seems to work and sometimes it doesn’t. I’m still troubleshooting.

Phone app works well; watch app falls short. This app has all the interval features I want for complex time/HR-based interval workouts. The phone app executes these well, albeit in a dated-looking interface. BUT when I first started using it, I tried to start my runs with the watch app like I would with other apps. DON’T DO THAT. The watch app does all sorts of weird behaviors and would not run the selected workout. The watch app is best used as a basic readout that autostarts after you’ve done everything to get the run set up and going on the phone app.

Calorie Tracking Algorithm Changed?. I love this app, and I have been using it for years. However, I noticed that update 6.4.2 changed the calorie tracking algorithm. Now a 6 mile walk, at an average 17 minutes a mile burns about 200 calories less than it did prior to the update. I’m wondering if this is a feature or a bug? I would like to thank you for this app and continuing to update it. I use it everyday.

Update messed something up. I used to use this app every day. Since the new update I can no longer start a workout from my phone. I also cannot get a workout to start in watch+phone mode. When I try to do the app freezes. This is a huge bummer for me that it no longer works.

Best Running App... by FAR. I’ve been searching for an app like this for some time... particularly after some of the big players seemed to stagnate or not work. This app works perfectly with my iPhone and Apple Watch— is accurate and easy to use. I’m now able to reliably track my runs with one device and never lose a run. Literally the best money I’ve spent in the App Store. Don’t hesitate.

Too confusing. I’ve been running using Intervals Pro and thought I’d try this out thanks to positive feedback, but I think this app might be geared to Garmin users (which I’ve never been) since many of the positive reviews mention those watches. Because of that, there is a steep learning curve here and I found making a simple interval with a 5 minute warm up walk, a distance run, and a 5 minute cool down walk much harder to do than with Intervals Pro. I was hoping I could add a few more features to a run that Intervals lacks but I am not going to bother. Sorry. I hope this review helps other potential users.

BEST RUNNING APP HANDS DOWN. For anyone looking for a great running app, I would highly recommend iSmoothRun. It’s $5 but more than worth it for what you get. The great thing about it is being able to set an unlimited amount of custom intervals and specify your goal pace for each interval. So whenever you are running, the app will tell you if you are X seconds ahead or behind. It will also tell you when you have 800m, 400m, 200m and 100m left, so you know when to pick up the pace or straight up full sprint until the finish. You can set custom rest intervals as well (e.g. after 0.50 miles, you can either walk for 0.25 miles or walk for 3 minutes before the next interval). This is THE APP to get if you’re training for something like a marathon or physical test.

The absolute best, on Apple Watch now, too. This update makes the best iPhone running app now the best Apple Watch running app too! Tremendous job. Full featured, plus highly stable. Such a vast improvement over Strava and runkeeper. Really has rewarded my patience with the Apple Watch. This is the top of the pile of iPhone running apps. It's the most flexible, customizable, and complete. I've tried them all. Absolutely worth the price. I'd even pay a subscription for this app.

Great app. For running. I use this app with Polar heart rate and Stryd foot pod. I can’t remember when I first started using the app it has been such a long time. It works great and records all the stuff I want. It always works for me. I’ve used it in places with no cell service with no problems. I’ve used the watch app only and together with the phone. It loads data to Apple fitness. This is one of those apps I love because it always works for me. Polar can be a bit dodgy so I occasionally need to re- pair it. But that is a polar thing not this app. My only wish is bigger numbers as there seems to be some extra screen real estate since I can’t see the small stuff without reading glasses.

Still not iWatch user Friendly 🙁. Read some reviews and ended up buying this app to enable recording HR from my iWatch. Spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out the settings, but still to no avail. Finally reached out to their support - I believe, the session should be started from the iWatch and not from iPhone in order to record HR. The app doesn’t not have any start /stop /resume/end screen - it is supposed to come up by force. After multiple times got it start a session but was not able to end the session, had to turn off the iWatch in order to end the session. Reached out to the App support with making the app more easy to use. I was assured that they are working on those enhancements and will be included in their next update. I hope they release the update soon, until then my two star stands.

Great potential but too many glitches. I’ve used this app for about 2.5 years and most issues have stayed the same. Starting a run from my apple watch series 1 was almost impossible but even with the series 3 it still takes on average 20-30sec. While it doesn’t matter on training runs, it’s certainly upsetting during races. At times the app will also auto pause my workout while running and then switch back right away. I do love the ability to customize your workouts exactly the way you want to which may take some time initially but is definitely worth the effort. I hope the developers will at least fix the delay/synchronization issues btw apple watch and iPhone.

Love this app. I’ve been using this for almost 2 years and love everything about it other than the maps of my runs with my Apple Watch. It’s horrible. If I use the Apple workout app my run maps look perfect, but on this app it almost never marks the route close to my actual run if I just run using my watch. I’ve tried adjusting the settings in the app and it just doesn’t work. Oddly, my distance is usually close to accurate, but you wouldn’t know it from the map.

Worthless. I was really hoping to replace my Garmin with this app. The Garmin doesn’t do split distance and time while in the interval, which is important to me. iSmoothRun looked really promising and the ability to configure the display was great. The UI on the app and the watch are well thought out. Unfortunately the app distance is highly inaccurate. I co-witnessed a couple runs with my Garmin Fenix 5X, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and iSmoothRun on my Apple Watch 5. iSmoothRun was short a couple miles on each (as much as 40% short) and the other two were aligned and accurate based on the known distance of the course. I emailed support and their advice was to not run with my iPhone, or turn Bluetooth off on my phone. I never run without my phone and listen to music, podcasts via Bluetooth headphones. I also followed their advice and set it to use only the watch’s GPS, but it was no better. If your running use case includes your phone and you expect accurate distance, and therefore pace, this is not the app for you. Save your money and keep your Garmin.

Replaced my beloved Garmin!. I have been using a Garmin 910XT for years and love it. However, the lack of LTE capabilities meant that I had to either carry a phone while running, or be unable to communicate during long runs. The stock fitness App on the Apple watch was insufficient for me, but this ismoothrun app on the Apple watch has the features that I need for marathon training and racing. 1) Start / pause (or lap) by pressing the crown and button on the Apple watch. (Garmin has more hardware buttons, but one hardware button feature is enough for me.) 2) Download complex interval workouts to the watch (even easier than Garmin Connect workouts) 3) Accurate GPS (as good or better than Garmin during my tests) 4) Easy export to Garmin Connect 5) Good enough battery life, more than 50% battery remaining after a 3 hour workout. I was ok with the Garmin interval beeps and vibrations, but I do prefer the voice commands from ismoothrun. If not for this ismoothrun app, I would have bought the new Garmin LTE watch. But with ismoothrun, the Apple watch becomes about as good as a Garmin for a marathoner, and a much more capable device overall. The only reason I would use a Garmin now would be for ultra running training or races that require more than 5 hours of battery life. For everything else, I am using the Apple watch and that's because ismoothrun is so good. I rarely write reviews, but this app is so useful for me that I wanted to share my positive feedback.

Steady Eddie, only a couple of flaws. I run Apple Watch only and have found this app to be the most consistent one. I was mainly using Strava, but found that it glitched from time to time. I have not had any glitches with this one yet. And then I can export my run to Strava, Runkeeper, etc. I wish Nike+ would open their API back up so I could export there. I am having a problem though trying to authenticate MapMyRun. When I try to login via Facebook, I get an error every time. The only other request for the watch app is a chance to put the watch in waterproof mode right from this app. You can do that in Strava.

Awesome app. Just a couple of suggestions. iSmoothRun on your Apple Watch would shut up even the most obsessive and obnoxious Garmin fans… if they’d ever allow themselves to try it. But alas, those of us who have discovered it will just keep enjoying the dual benefits of a great running/fitness tracker AND everyday life improving features! The only request I have is for my “Watch Only” runs to automatically export to Strava, Garmin, MMR, Nike, etc, without me having to remember to hit “Yes, Export” after each workout.

Very buggy with distance tracking.. This app often stops tracking my distance. I’ve reported the bug but they think it’s an issue with the iPhone gps. They don’t just use the iPhone location services. They think they’ve got a better system that switches over to the accelerometer if the gps signal is weak. It’s total crap. All my running is outdoors in the Arizona desert. Clear skys and the gps signal says it’s 5 out of 5. It just stops tracking. If i look at my position on the map inside the app, the blue dot shows exactly where I am but the trace thinks i stopped up to a mile back! I can sometimes get it to update by shaking the phone madly and they even suggested that as a work around! Really? You want me to take my phone out and shake it just to get a basic function to work. Gps tracking is a very simple task and they can’t get it right. I had to switch to a different app since over the years and multiple phone upgrades it has only gotten worse. I’d give it zero stars if I could.

Disappointed After Update. I have been very disappointed with iSmooth Run since the most recent update. The only way I could get it to work (starting a workout from my Apple watch) was to delete the app and reinstalling. This wiped out my history, of course. It only worked once. Now I start a workout and it just sits there displaying information from previous workout. I've tried turning off auto-pause, but that hasn’t helped, either. It is good this app is free, because I would be screaming for my money back if I paid a dime for it. Their “online support” is not at all responsive.

Lots of features but inconsistent execution and poor support. Disappointing. After reading a number of good things I gave it a shot and have been really underwhelmed. There is a lot of functionality, but much of it has not worked properly. The interface isn’t intuitive and the help/setup guide is severely lacking. Ive asked for help with my issues and the only time I got any response was when I followed up with multiple inquiries. Even then we never got the basic functionality to work and there was no real interest in getting things resolved. Look elsewhere. There are better options out there and the charge is not justified.

Absolute best running app I have used for Apple Watch. I came over to the Apple Watch from the Garmin ecosystem. I loved Garmin for its fitness tracking and the overall fitness app but the watch itself was a bit clunky and the screen hard to read. I sacrificed the battery life and went over to the Apple Watch and was disappointed in many of the running apps that I tried until I found iSmoothRun. It gives me all the data I need including cadence—which many other apps didn’t track— and it’s a simple interface. Talks to the Apple activity app where I log other kinds of workouts.

Great app, recently starting having bugs. I’ve used the app for about 8 years and it’s terrific in the way you can customize the workouts and intervals. I have all my workout history and the audio cues are awesome. In the last month, I’ve had three instances where the app just quit running in the middle of a workout which is really inconvenient to say the least. It quit after my warm up Mike twice and the last one I didn’t even use a warm up Mile so it ran ok for 15 miles and then it quit running and didn’t save any of the data! I have no idea what to change to prevent ot from bugging out and I hope they fix it because I would hate to switch apps at this time. If it works for you then I highly recommend it!

Galloway runners, look no further!. I thought I’d tried every running app on the App Store looking for an Apple Watch app that supported Galloway-style run-walk-run running, but somehow I’d never stumbled across iSmoothRun. It does exactly what I’ve been looking for and is the only app I’ve found that supports run-walk-run as well as a Garmin watch. Specifically, it shows current mile pace independent of run/walk intervals on the Apple Watch. Knowing this lets me manage my overall effort and hit my goal pace without all the fidgety math to figure out what pace I need to run during the run segments. Every other running app seems to display either current pace or average pace for the current interval, neither of which is helpful. It also has great support for third-party audio apps on the Watch, so I can leave my phone at home and still enjoy running to an audiobook or podcast. I’m so happy I finally found iSmoothRun!

Works great on iPhone and Watch. This is one of the best running app on iPhone and Watch. Customizable display on both devices, no gimmicks, no stealing your data. I’ve had some hiccups tracking shoe mileage (shoe miles not updating on watch, but they are correct on iPhone where data lives) but the app works quite well. And the developer is very responsive to questions/input.

Best running app for serious runners, hands down!!!. I’ve logged over 900 runs in iSmoothRun, and it is hands down the best app for serious runners, and I’ve tried them all! I like to customize my interval runs and no other app provides the flexibility and customization that iSmoothRun does! I also love that I can customize the audio cues to provide just the information I want when I want it. And the ghost cues are great for helping me keep pace. I also like that I can upload my runs to RunKeeper, so I can keep all my history and analyze my progress. When the app recently had a bug uploading, I was worried I would have to find another app. I emailed support and they fixed it within a day!

Great support. I had a rough start to the use of this app due to Apple moving the goalposts on the developer. I sent a rather nasty message (in frustration) to the app page on Facebook because I had spent between 30 minutes to an hour trying to get this addressed. The developer responded that same morning as I fired of the message before my workout and had a reply in my inbox by the time my workout was done. The developer laid out the problem the app was encountering as well as the steps to address the issue. The app is great on its own but the support level from the developer is what sets this apart for me.

Great App!. My coach first recommended iSmoothRun to me because it integrates well with Training Peaks. I have continued using it because I love the ability to program my runs, and the accelerometer when the GPS doesn’t have signal (in tunnels, sometimes really deep forest trails with lots of cliffs, skyscrapers, etc.). I enjoy the data I can see as well. Programming shoes and keeping track of the miles is also invaluable to me. Keep working out the bugs. Thanks for the great app!

Great App!. I have used this app for a few years. It is excellent! It has dropped one or two runs over the years, however they could have been a problem with my iPhone 6s or user error. It used to sync my runs to Nike+, however that seems to be broken. That is Nike+ not being friendly to other apps. This app has been solid. Love that I can export it to several other apps.

The best athletic app for Apple Watch. Not only is it the most flexible reliable and socially friendly app, but the support is amazing as well. I tried them more/less all, and can’t find better for my AW3. Either the options are too limited or most of the famous ones don’t play well with others. If I ever have a question, it gets promptly and personally answered. There are also excellent resources on the web site, Facebook and Twitter. A+++

Appreciative long time user. I’ve used this app for at least 7 years. The last several enhanced w an Apple Watch. Appreciate the ability to customize both phone and watch displays. And the audio reporting as well. My favorite feature is the ghost runs so I can compete against myself. The post run graphs are simple but informative. I’ve never regretted choosing iSmoothRun

Good for intervals. Purchased for interval training it does work well for that purpose - although the process for creating customized workouts is a bit convoluted. Unfortunately the ability to use sensors other then HR on iwatch for riding does not appear to function well. Specifically a Garmin cadence sensor has issues with tracking distance, in app calibration useless, and drops frequently. Last company does not appear to answer their emails as I have tried reporting the issue multiple times without response. I guess if the app works for your use case great, if not don’t expect support.

The Best. I had been wondering the past few weeks when iPhone X support would be coming, and then BAM—a big update hit today. New Siri-based audio, support for additional sensors using just the Apple Watch, iPhone X support, and much, much more. The best iOS cardio workout tracking app just keeping getting better, year after year. And this is a one-time purchase! I kinda feel bad getting this much value out of such a low cost. But this app is outstanding, and anyone on the fence about buying should just read all the great reviews.

No longer in active development and poor accuracy. First off, do not buy this if you are on iOS 14, it freezes and does not operate at all. Secondly, it doesn’t do particularly accurate distances or paces. When paired with Strava, it is off by a decent amount over. I enjoyed using this app a few weeks back (before upgrading my OS) but quickly realized it was reporting me at much faster paces. I love all the features — metronome for cadence, pacing, both distance and time intervals, audio cues for slower and faster—but so many bits don’t work (like Apple Watch HRD) and the app is incredibly clunky and frustrating to use.

Great for intervals!. I bought this app to make my own intervals. All the other interval apps were too basic for what I needed or required a monthly subscription. I was pleased to find an app that I only had to pay for once. It took me a hot minute to figure out how to set up the intervals but once you get the hang of it, it’s a breeze! I usually run with just my watch, and even with a series 1 it works wonderfully. My only complaint is that I have to “wake up” the watch screen fairly often to allow the workout “clock” to catch up… if that makes sense. It leaves off where the screen went blank and only catches up once you wake it up, meaning the interval ended 10 seconds ago but I didn’t know because it hadn’t caught up yet. Otherwise I have no complaints! I’d love to see this become an optional complication to add to my watch face too!

Greet App. I love this app for running. It does everything I could ask for in a running app. I started using ISmoothRun to get back into running after two decades of not running. I’ve been using it along GTN’s Couch to 5K program. I have the Nike IWatch and was looking for something useful from Nike in the couch to 5K running program and they had nothing. The ISmoothRun is awesome. Ever run I go on I can customize how many run/walk intervals I perform. The customization is endless. I really like the metronome feature. I have it set so it only plays during running sessions and stops during walks. I also use Pandora during my runs and while running it allows the music to still play in the background while the app it giving running queues and reporting on running pace. I so happy I found this app.

Way better than Nike!. I switched to iSmooth Run after the Nike Run app spontaneously stopped on me several times during my long runs. Overall I am significantly happier with the reliability of iSmooth Run and find it easy to use. My biggest complaint is with the auto pause. It takes too long to pause and then if I am not perfectly still it resumes. Would be nice to be able to set it to pause at a certain speed and restart at a certain speed. Love being able to upload workouts to Garmin connect. Love weekly logs. Overall meeting my needs.

If you use TrainingPeaks, this is the app you need.. I do structured runs via a plan on TrainingPeaks, and this is the only app on the App Store that effectively and consistently pulls in my workouts and provides audio guidance from the watch. I’m not kidding when I say this is the app that makes the Apple Watch a real training watch. I still get some issues with the pace announced at the end of the segment sometimes differing between audio and the pop up on my watch screen, but other than that this is really an incredible app, well worth the price (and subscription price).

This is the best... I’ve tried many. I have tried many running apps (Nike run club, Map My Run, Runkeeper, Strava)... and this is the best if you want all the features. The interval coaching is great - helps keep you on pace. Ability to customize your workout... amazing. Options and options... way more than any other run app. It syncs perfectly every time with my Wahoo Tickr (no other app has been able to). This app is clearly made for runners but easy enough a casual user would find it useful.

I WANT to love this app!. But right now it’s just barely cutting it. The watch + iPhone setting just does NOT work. The watch app in watch only mode works as expected. Any time I try to start the watch + iPhone (from the watch) it just displays no info on the watch and the iPhone app sits at the start run screen. Don’t cut and paste your standard check your settings faq either. I’ve checked them all. Smashrun... I love your website but you might want to consider a “ymmv” statement when recommending this app right now. Update: I got the watch and iPhone app working together by starting the outside runs from the phone NOT the watch as shown in the faq. However, treadmill plus this app = fail. It constantly repeats stats, goes to auto pause when auto pause is disabled and doesn’t record the pace or distance correctly on a treadmill. The watch is recording the correct info and can be seen in the watch records. It’s the app.. right now it’s working ok for outside runs and that’s it. I’ll still use it over Nike’s nightmare though. It sad that the Apple Watch is such a running tool failure.

Great app if you want custom heart rate zones. I chose this app because it allows you to make custom heart rate zones, and then alerts you when you’re above or below your custom zones. That’s the one feature I had trouble finding anywhere else, and this app does it well. It pairs nicely with the Apple Watch, too, so I don’t need to pull my phone out during runs.

Wish I could get trainingpeaks import to work.. I downloaded ismoothrun and purchased a pro subscription because it promised to automatically import trainingpeaks structured workouts to the app. Unfortunately I have yet to be able to figure out how to do this. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times, removed and added trainingpeaks authorization, and applied and removed the training plan to my trainingpeaks calendar multiple times in an effort to get the plan to sync with no luck. When I try to reach out for support within the app I am told that my device is not configured for email and I am unable to send any feedback. I’d love to make this app work and unfortunately leaving a negative review seems to be the only way of finding any assistance. Please help! I want to use your app and give you money for a subscription but won’t be able to if this issue goes unresolved.

Things you need to know.. First I’m really loving the voice audio clues with heart rate zone training. All the big workout apps do not offer this and they should. Here is what I wish I knew before purchase. Yes you can export iSmoothRun data to Strava, but that export is useless as data is translated wrong on Strava. Average pace and moving time is wrong. What’s the point of publishing on Strava if the data is giving the wrong expression of the run. The iSmoothRun app is for the Apple Watch. Correct? Then why can’t you put the app on the watch face for easy access. Instead one needs to go into app menu and scroll to iSmoothRun to start app. You would think being an app for the Apple Watch this would be a no brainer. Oh well. Might have not purchased if I knew of these two issues. The saving grace for me is the voice audio clues for HR don’t trying. Fingers crossed and update is about to happen SOON.

Great with Scosche Rhythm heart rate monitors. I picked up a slightly outdated (2012) Scosche heart rate monitor a few weeks ago that comes with a diabolically bad Scosche iPhone app (that’s another story). The Scosche hardware is pretty decent, and iSmoothRun is the only other app I’ve found that can talk natively to Scosche Rhythm. For that alone, it’s worth every cent. Never mind the fact that iSmoothRun is as well designed and powerful as any of the other quality fitness monitors AND that’s it’s happy to share data with them. Color me impressed guys. One small thing: It might be nice to be able to browse your data online. No biggie, but..

Great App. I started out using RunKeeper about 6yrs ago. After about 6 months I became frustrated with its reliability/performance & constant reminders/suggestions to upgrade to the Pro version (to get something worth using). Then I found iSmoothRun & have been using it ever since. It's a great App - works reliably & accurately, has all the metrics you need, can export data to anything I can think of and is well supported. Absolutely recommend it!! AussieHarrier

Interval training. Best app I’ve found for setting up custom intervals

Great running app. Great accuracy and fantastic coaching options. All the export options you could want. Runkeeper was plotting my course all over the place and the coaching would cut out for no reason. No problems like that with this app.

Sync Not Working. I’ve had problems with the watch not syncing with the phone previously and received no help from customer support. I resolved the issue myself. I’m now having problems with syncing again - I went for a run with the watch and it won’t sync to my phone. So the run’s stuck on my watch. I saw another review mention the same thing happened to them and the developers responded that “the app works well.” I’m giving up on this app and the non-existent customer service. This amount of bugs isn’t what you’d expect from a paid app.

Subscription based now?. I’ve used this app for years now and it’s pretty solid, not too fancy and does what it says on the tin. I must have missed the memo but the Pro version of the app used to be $5.99 (or so) and now it’s subscription based? Seems my $5.99 doesn’t qualify me to the Pro.... So frustrating when developers don’t offer any goodwill to long-term users and change the conditions overnight and ask for payment again.

This app is great!. Had profiles on mapmy, strava and runkeeper trying to decide which one to keep. Now I can keep them all!! Ismoothrun exports data to these very well (+fb). Has excellent interval settings too! Frequent updates keep this app stable and provides continuous improvements.

The complete running app. I used to use Runkeeper, and still do, but use iSR as the front-end and to design my training plan and Runkeeper as a log of runs that can interface and exchange info with my other health/fitness apps - works very well.

Brilliant for mixed runs. For speed work, intervals etc this app is tremendous. It takes a little patience to learn how to set up the workouts to start with but once you are familiar with this it is a breeze.

Awesome but Apple Watch support broken. Lots of issues using update 6 for the first time. Heart rate not updating. Start in iPhone app didn’t start watch app. Cadence measurement all over the place. Quick! Fix! Oh and a watch only run won’t sync to my iPhone.

Why the change?. I’ve been a fan of this app since Dec 2012 and used it to record all my walks, but in Nov 2020 a Walk became a Run. Why is this?

I've tried them all and this is the best. The best app by far. The time announcement ahead or behind target pace is a great feature. It's simply awesome. It exports to heaps of social sites and is just perfect. Buy it. You won't regret it.

Just works. The best running app over the last 7 years that I have used. Works great for ultras, marathons and workouts. Love the ability to make as many types of workouts as needed for a training cycle. Kudos to the developer

Apple Watch stand-alone. Been using the app for years but have been hanging out for the stand-alone watch function. Native Apple Watch app - works great but can’t export. Strava Watch app - exports to Strava but is awfully inaccurate. iSmoothRun - finally an app that shows if you have gps lock on the Watch plus it exports! Love your work!

Best running app I've ever used.. I've tried 10+ different running apps and none of them compare to ismoothrun. Just about any feature you can think of is included. Most useful for me are cadence with metronome, advanced interval workouts, export to strava, Nike+ etc. only thing missing that would complete the app is ability to import workouts as well as exporting them. Sometimes I run with a garmin watch and heart monitor and would like to see those runs in ismoothrun too.

Perfect. I was seeking an alternative running app that would work from my 1st generation Apple Watch. ISmoothRun has done this perfectly, with many bonuses like sharing the data to my existing platforms. Couldn't be happier. Wish I knew about it sooner.

Great accurate running app. Great app, somehow seems to return more accurate results than runkeeper consistently...still allows upload to runkeeper platform though. Well done.

The absolute best activity tracking app!. I find this app to be far superior to any other activity tracking app I've used - and I have used a few. The tracking accuracy, app reliability and battery life all seem better then the other apps I have tried. I have used this app for over a year now and it keeps getting better. The developers keep improving it. Highly recommended.

Top app. Really love this app. I have been using this app for over a year now and love the ease and simplicity of it. The way it exports to many web services is great. One thing I'd like to see is photo integration where you can take a photo via the app and it tags and up loads it to any of the web services it already exports to ie run keeper.

Superb. Talks to every piece of hardware (heart rate, pedometer, smartwatch) you own; saves data to every website and format. If you want to try a new exercise website, it's easy to upload your old data to a new site, so you get your full history. Same thing if you want to compare two sites. It's brilliant.

Regular problems with Pro Version. I purchased the pro version but am regularly experiencing problems with the app notifications (both on watch only and to watch and phone) when interval training. Highly frustrating and not worth the annual fee for a glitching app. Makes me want to buy a Garmin unfortunately.

Best Running App I've Used. I've used iSmoothRun three to four times a week since 2012 when I retired my Polar RS800SD. I also have paid versions of MayMyRun and Runkeeper Apps. iSmoothrun has consistently delivered better and more accurate tracking, has great features, including running info and statistics along with the abilty to define specific work out sessions that are subscription options on other apps. You aren't tied to a running platform, you can upload to most of them - I use Runkeeper and MayMyRun. I can track mileage on my shoes. The Pebble app is brilliant, from my wrist I can pause, record laps see my splits, all with the phone in my back pocket. As the phone screen remains off, the battery performance is great, I only used 18% battery running a 2 hour half marathon last week (even though I was playing music). The app has been consistently improved over the last three years, with some great features added recently, like the best efforts which give you your best stats for the run, I especially like the best 5km, 10m and half marathon times which are calculated from any point during your run. Finally the developer fixes bugs promptly and responds to support requests - you can't ask for more - worth the money.

Best bike computer. It has all the features one needs: links with ANT+ sensors, tracks cadence, speed, heart rate, etc and syncs it all with Runkeeper, Strava and a bunch of other networks. The screen display is well set out and clear. The autopause works well too - better than the one in the native Runkeeper app. Overall it's just fantastic.

Watch app doesn’t work.. I bought this app and wish I didn’t. Workout pauses itself and then won’t restart when I press play. Very difficult to use and not user friendly. Waste of money. DO NOT BUY.

Super smooth app for running.. I had to go through a few apps to find one that would reliably track my running, upload to TrainingPeaks and allow me to import or write custom interval workouts with audio guidance. iSmoothRun was the first app I found that could reliably fit the bill. My coach is happy because all the metrics they want are coming through and I am happy because I can create my custom runs, run with my music and guidance then upload the data. Incidentally iSmoothRun also tracks some interesting stuff too, like what track was playing when I ran my fastest leg and what pace I did for each track. Overall it hits the spot. The only thing I still hang out for is the ability to import workouts in “fit” or “js” format so I don’t have to rewrite my coaches workouts into iSmoothRun. ❤️🏃‍♂️

Excellent. Excellent app with metronome, good runkeeper and dozens of other site interface, superb support (same day response!), and excellent voice guidance for pacing and workouts. Powerful custom workout editor let me create workouts matching my runkeeper training program no problem. Definitely recommend it.

Still loving this app!. I have been using Ismoothrun for over 6 months and it has been amazing. I use this to track my runs as I train for 1/2 ironman events and don't have the money to invest in a Garmin. It's worth the small investment. Great app.

Download doesn’t work. This app is hopeless. I bought it because the website said it could download to Garmin - but it only works about half of the time. The other reason I choose this app was for the lap feature. But when in waterproof mode you can’t see the lap screen. Save your money and buy a different app.

My run partner at every step. I have been a fan and ardent supporter of iSmoothRun for at least 8 years! It’s been a partner on my journey from non-runner to 3x weekly enthusiast! The thing that has kept me here at the small independently developed app, instead of jumping out to the popular platforms was the fantastically recorded, unobtrusive, human voices of iSmoothRun. That voice piped up only with enough information to let me know how I’m doing without distracting me from the run and the music. The new Siri voices are unfortunate, but I can live with it. Still the only app with full graphs (cadence, pace, elevations) of every run.

Fantastic app. There are a couple of comprehensive 5 star reviews which are excellent and to put it simply this app works perfectly everytime and does everything I can think of that a running app should do

Excellent app. Excellent app. I switched to it from Runkeeper as I'd been told it was more accurate and it's lived up to that. Even better, you can export your workouts to other apps, so you can still keep your workouts all in the same place.

Quick and reliable app. Moved to this after getting frustrated with MapMyRun and it's clunky UI. iSmoothRun is so much easier to use! I'd love if the map was interactive by showing pace and incline etc when touching sections of the path.

The best. I have tried them all and none of them compare to iSmoothrun. Very accurate, Apple watch has 2 customisable pages with 1 big, 2,3or 4 to a page and best of all it is open so you can export to nearly all the popular sites. Strava, runkeeper just to name a couple.

Can’t get it to work. Downloaded app to phone but it won’t install on my i watch so is pretty useless to me. Waste of money.

The killer app for Pebble owners. After ordering a Pebble I was very disappointed in the much promoted Pebble / Runkeeper integration and Strava was even worse with none at all. iSmoothrun gave me everything I wanted and more. Totally configurable 3 panel screens with as many pages as I want, more metrics than I could have imagined, including heart rate from my Wahoo Blue HR and cadence. Clever. Uploads to Runkeeper and Strava and so many others. Stable and simple to use. Battery consumption seems good too. 50% remaining after 3:30 marathon with iPhone 4S. Thanks iSmoothrun team. This is the killer app for anyone who has bought a Pebble for running, cycling or sports. Worth every cent. Can I suggest making the setting of target pace a little simpler? Just a simple mode to set minutes/km without other parameters would be fine. Great job iSmoothRun team. Leading the way and showing the big players how it should be done.

Love it. I have been using this app for over a year now for both running and cycling. I find it excellent and it's continued to develop over time which I really appreciate. The recent feature to upload to Garmin Connect is cool. I use it on my iPhone with a heart rate monitor and a cadence monitor on my bike. All work perfectly. I also love how responsive the app author has been to my queries and questions. Thanks!

My favourite run app.. My favourite app for running. It is great run and training through its interval programming and coaching features. Tell it a speed you want to run to and it lets you know if you are doing it.

Love it!. It syncs very well with Runkeeper and adds some useful information. I now update my rating since the cadence issue on iphone5 was fixed, it now works like a treat !! The workout editor is far easier to use than for example Runkeeper, it allows for very quick addition of a new workout.

One of the best going around. Slick UI. Easy to use and navigate. Love the Pro feature that automatically uploads scheduled runs from TrainAsONE. The developer always respond. Highly recommend app.

Good in theory but no.. Nothing but inconsistency and plagued with issues. And don't bother reaching out to their customer service either - that's an oxymoron if I ever heard one. Wish I'd never wasted my money & you can't get a refund either.

Treadmill tracking very disappointing. Very disappointed this app won’t track your treadmill runs unless you have your iPhone strapped to your body. Even the naive apple fitness app does this!

The best I've used. Was using Runkeeper but that was crashing. Switched to this app so I could try out Strava and still keep a log in Runkeeper. As it turns out I like this the best of all three. Brilliant app - it's simple and works reliably. Good stuff.

Works great and reliable. Similar to many others, I have tried a few different running apps first, most of them are pretty good already. ISmooth however has great functionality in relation to workout planning (with all sort of intervals, pauses, etc). It also works reliably, even when the GPS signal drops, such as in a gorge, the app continues on accelerometer mode and switches back to GPS as soon as a signal is available. The app also uses less battery and has great audio notifications. I recommend watching the introduction videos on their website to get the most of out of this app.

Great training app. Has some great features. Particularly like export to other sites like Nike+, split times, cadence features and ghost run. Would like to see total elevation climbed rather than just a figure for lowest to highest point. Great job.

Great App. I can run without my Garmin now. Thanks to iSmoothRun and Apple watch. I have also connected a BT HR Mio. For the first time before each run I ask myself which to use ? Garmin or AppleWatch - iSmoothRun. The best app around (I tried many) for the Apple watch.

Last update great for battery life!!. Four hour bike ride, GPS on, HR monitor on, cadence sensor on, all audio cues and metronome on and screen at half brightness on for the full ride ......and iPhone 6 battery life still at 52%!! Must be some magic here‽

Love the App. I have been using iSmoothRun for quite some now and love it for its simplicity, reliability and ease of data export.

Great app. A really useful app. Works well with Runkeeper so you can see run data and maps in a better format. Ghost run function very useful for making improvements. A good buy.

Best running app. I've tried about 5 other running apps and this is my favourite by far. It's worth watching a tutorial on the app to see all the features it has. I love being able to program in my interval training sessions, with as many variables as I need. Also really like the ghost run feature to run against yourself on a particular route.

Good but clunky. When I go to settings and sync dat I get an “error: not activated” message

Merveilleuse. Application VRAIMENT stable! Sûrement la meilleur app de course.

Last version buggy. The audios have some errors. Times between the informations is inexistant, so it’s hard to listen and get all the informations. I hope it’s going to be rechecked because I can’t use it that way.

Does what it says perfectly. Really

Almost perfect. Please add delayed start!

The best running app. Absolutely great. 97% accurate comparing to my Garmin, this is the one and only running app I've had that is always accurate, for distance and speed. Love the cadence feature!!! Simple to use, customizable, and most important of all, reliable and accurate. Well worth the money.

Reliable app. I use it all the time, and never had a problem with it. I find it very easy to use!

Great tool, fast dev response. This is the running app that I was looking for when switching from my Garmin. It will do all the tracking you expect, lets you put in workouts easily (even imports TCX files!!) and then tells you when you are running if you are going at the right pace!

Excellent logiciel pour la course. Fortement recommandé.

Great app!. I've been struggling with which app to use for running. Each app/community has their benefits/drawbacks. I use an Apple Watch and love the features that iSmoothRun offers on the watch. On top of that, the app allows me to export each run to my 3 favourite running apps (Nike+, Runkeeper and Strava). Really happy with it, well worth the price!

Versatility rules. The many export options that the app offers are a big plus. Thanks to the well-implemented audio cues, I usually never look at my phone while running. The developer is very responsive.

Fix Garmin connect.

Not accurate. Did a walk with my daughter. I’m using iPhone XR and watch 4. She has a Apple Watch 5. Hers said 4KM using Apple app. Mine said 5KM using this app. Went back and compared to a previous same walk and it was 4KM. If distance is incorrect, all other values go out the window. This needs to be fixed please. I paid for the app because the description was very promising especially for the interval workout part.

Mrs. Do not buy this app. It does not work

Great product !!. 01 2016 update: Still using this app, still the best iPhone app for tracking and exporting your activity, with a great audio cue system. Exceptionally well supported. 01 2015 update: Still the best app of its kind as far as I am concerned. Continuously improved by the developer, who responds very well to issues and questions. Works with an awesome variety of hardware and exports to just about any site you can imagine. Previous review, 2012 This is the only one I've seen to use the accelerometer together with GPS - so it gives you cadence, and pace/distance info when the GPS is off (I.e. treadmill). Also makes auto-pause feature very functional. Nice interval features, works with a variety of sensors. Also exports data files for use in programs like Sportracks, and to social networking sites. I really like this app and look forward to what the next update might bring. Well supported by author.

Inaccurate. I remeber when apps were 99 cents. I think that's what I paid for the Nike app. I quite using the Nike app as it required sharing of information. That's why I bought iSmoothRun. But it seems that dispite the extra money they want, for potentially nefarious reasons, access to auto updates (independance from the user) and access to to the Apple fitness app. Further I have found its distance tracking incredibly inaccurate. Nike was at least very accurate. I will drop my use of iSmoothRun. If you value privacy or accuracy I would not recommend this app.

Nice alternative to a GPS watch. I always have my iPhone with me and iSmoothRun is a great app when I am not using my Garmin FR 610. The ability to track mileage on my shoes, export data to DailyMile and set up interval workouts are great. I just wish a 5km didn't drain my iPhone battery by 20%.

Still the best. Still the best workout app I have come across. Support for sensors is excellent, and I particularly like that all workouts information is totally private and on your phone only unless you choose to share with a website. I should note that many websites are supported & uploading is automatic if you wish. The Watch version is also excellent, and you can choose what information you want to display and the order too. The only enhancement I could wish for is the capability to set different colours for each item displayed to make it a bit easier to read at a glance. For all us old folks with reading glasses. :) Kudos to the developer!

Very smooth running!. Love this for my running. Bit of a pain setting up all my intervals but once I did it was great. Makes it so easy to program a new run. Had a minor issue with one interval a run going longer than it should but I fixed it by deleting app and re downloading. Had my data backed up to Dropbox so I still had my distances. However backup data lost interval data, only had overall run data, as was explained on instructions to use backups so it was all good. Best of all that running apps I've used. Only problem I have is you can’t see the interval/lap counter. Only the title of the box but not the actual number/data.

Wow - works seamlessly with or without the apple watch app. I used iSmoothrun and appreciated the customized zones, the in-zone audio cues that free me from looking at my HRM. Even better it just works with all my devices and uploads to other apps so data is not walled up in yet another place. But now they have an apple watch app that allows me to put the phone away and start & finish remotely (apple watch). And it shows me just what I need. In other words WOW...well done!!!! Try it and you'll be an advocate too.

The best running app for iPhone. Has every bell and whistle you could ever think of; Apple Watch app is also pretty awesome.

Waste of time and money!. I purchased this app because I wanted two things, One was to have Intervals 10/1’s As part of my marathon training and second was to attach my wahoo cadence sensor for my spin classes. Guess what it does none of those things! Furthermore I cannot Contact the developer nor can I get a money refund from Apple so I guess I’m screwed out of $7Canadian. This is why am writing a bad review so hopefully I will stop other people from purchasing this product, it is absolute garbage!

Easy to use - highly effective. I love running with this using my Apple Watch (indoors or outside ) without my phone around . I play music from the watch , via my BT headphones. I start the iSmoothRun app on the watch - it tracks my run , and calls out my vital stats through my headphones . I can keep my eyes on the road and listen for my progress . Keep up the great work !

Best running and cycling app. I've tried dozens of running and cycling apps. This one is the best; not only is it the most feature filled app but it also works in conjunction with other running/cycling apps. A+ thanks!

Not Accurate. The app is basically great. It has a ton of features. However, the app is for some strange reason inaccurate regarding distance run. I have calibrated it against a lot of other apps including Fitbit, RunGo, Mapmyrun, etc. and iSmoothRun is always faster than ever other app. For example, last week I ran a 1/2 marathon and after iSR said I’d done 21 Km, Fitbit said I’d done 20 Km. that to me is a big difference. I reached out to the iSR developer and he put me on ignore.

Stil a Great tool!. Very simple to use, it includes a powerful interval editor and a metronome so it is perfect for the chirunning method. En plus, il supporte le français au niveau de l'interface visuelle et audio. Merci! Depuis deux ans, c'est MON application pour courir.

Best Running/Activity Tracker Of Them All! Bravo!. This App, which continues to evolve and get more features every single time it’s updated, has taken me, a former 35 year smoker, from my first 5k run to my first 1/2 Marathon. And it gets better all the time. Now with Pebble support I can see everything I want to see without looking my phone. To the developer: Thank You! It syncs with everything I sync with: Nike+, Strava, Runkeeper, MyFitnessPal and more and more and more. I assure you, you will get every single cent worth of value out of this if you buy it.

Great app - one small request. I recommend it to any of my running friends. The audio feedback is incredible! Thank you for the customizations we can make to runs and planned workouts. One request, can you enable more than 5 running training heart rate zones? I'm working with the 8020 endurance plans and it has 7! That would be 5⭐️ thank you!!

Perfect combo with a Pebble. iSmoothRun coupled with a Pebble watch makes the best and most customizable running watch. I don't envy my wife's Garmin since I've found this app

Awesome app!. The interface is very well done and the app is very simple to use. The equipment tracking is awesome, I couldn't find any other app that even had that feature. It syncs to multiple online sites which is great. The customer support has been amazingly fast and they are very open to suggestions. Totally worth the price, great job guys!

Great with Pebble watch. I am rating this five stars even though I had challenges with the auto-pause feature. Keeping it off, now, and iSmooth Run works like a charm with the Pebble watch.

Won't open in iphone5. I just got the latest update on dec 12, 2014 and now the app won't open. I'm using an iPhone 5 iOS version 8.1

Like it.. Use it every run.

Great app. Has all the features I would ever use, connects seamlessly with Mio heart monitor, GPS is much more reliable than in earlier days (I have used iSmoothRun for 2.5 years). Wish I could figure out how to uncouple it permanently from the iOS 8 "health" feature, but that is minor. I find it much easier to use than Runkeeper (though I export to and track online at the Runkeeper site). Audio cues much less intrusive than any of the 5 running apps I have tried, especially the simple "walk/run" feature. The interval feature took a bit of figuring to get the hang of it, but now that I've got it sorted, I love it.

Great running app. Tremendous amount of info on your runs and integration with a wide range of fitness trackers. Plus, the big one, shoe tracking.

Bug. Worked really well last summer, my work out were properly imported on Training Peaks Strava or garmin connect, but since I got an apple watch last fall, no matter what activity I choose on ISmoothRun (walk, cross-country skiing, cycling) it import itself as a running session on Garmin connect, Strava or training peaks. Please correct the bug

Simply the best. Great app for running. Simply the best

The one. Been using it, day in day out for 4 years. It's rock solid, customizable and stable (as well as storing all your data on Dropbox and Nike and Garmin...). Well worth it's price. Just get it!

Only miles no kilometers?. When can I expect Kilometers and centimeters to become available

Best Running App… Period. Love this app for running and cycling. Great features. I’ve tried a bunch of others and end on ismooth run and won’t leave now.

Simply the Best. Far and away the most comprehensive, customizable and reliable running app in the store. If you are serious about running, this is your app.

Best workout tracking app. Works great with Pebble.. I've tried most of the workout tracking apps and iSmoothRun is by far the best. I bought it for running with my Pebble but have found that it works great for cycling too. My only request would be to have the Pebble display options linked to the activity. Worth every cent I paid for it.

New favourite running app for iPhone/WATCH. The audio options (highly granular and unobtrusive) and ability to track shoe usage make this my go-to running app.

Requires location services be set to “always”. The app has a great interface and configuration options are fantastic but the app’s GPS tracking is not accurate when location services are set to “while using”. The developer confirmed that it should be set to “always” despite potential privacy and battery drain concerns. This is quite a glitch when all other major GPS and activity tracking apps work perfectly when you use them without requiring permanent access to your location throughout the day.

Best gps running app out there. And gets better every version

Own my data. I like iSmoothRun because I own my data and then export it to where I want to. All the other services kind of hold my data hostage. That and this just has so many features. It's worth the cost and I'm really happy the developers continue to work on it. Here's hoping they do an Apple Watch app for it too.

Great exercise app. Love it and use it daily.

What a waste. Complete garbage. Downloaded, created some custom workouts, set my HR zones. Tried to sync, fail. Just stuck saying “syncing.” Turned on audio cues, went for a run. Figured ok, well at least I’ll get some feedback since it will notify me of which zone I’m in. Fail. No bpm at all. Just “- - -“. This app feels like a college student built in one night after a binge drinking session. Disgusted I paid for this.

Interval training. Best app I have used for following a long distance training program that needs you to run intervals! Love it. You can program a warm up and after the warm up it will continuously repeat the intervals telling you out loud when to walk and when to run.

A running app that does all the things!. First off, I have to say I love the fact that iSmoothRun is not one of those subscription model systems. You buy the app and voila - you're off on your run without worrying about recurring bills. Secondly, it's great that iSmoothRun can integrate with various displays. I've been using a Pebble watch to manage my cadence lately to help me find a better gait. I no longer have that awkward moment of unlocking my screen and trying to check what my stats are as I run. By and far iSmoothRun is the best running app I have had a chance to work with. It's easy to: see your logs for your workouts (and see a sensible graph for them just by tilting your phone), set up training intervals, export to various third parties, track the mileage on your shoes, and, well, too many more to list. The developers of this app have done a really good job with adding new features and making sure iSmoothRun supports as many gadgets and third party systems as possible. If you're a runner, buy this app - you won't regret it!

Tried the rest ... still the Best!. I have tried many of the main gps driven fitness trackers out there. It seems I always keep coming back to iSmoothRun as my most favoured of them all. It is simple, easy to read, concise and no 'gimmicky' features or need to subscribe/ find friends... just a very good mapper and fitness tracker. Exactly what I'm looking for 😃

Best running app available!. No need for Garmin-now I can stream my music too and leave my phone behind, with my Apple Watch Ultra. Highly configurable app. You can set up virtually any interval run you like with various paces, etc. I love the audio cues and their customizability, especially love the pacing cues that tell me if I’m ahead or behind. Top notch app.

Very nice, works reliably, please add complication for watch. Really enjoy the customizability and flexibility of this app. It’s a fantastic addition beyond the Apple Workout app for adding intervals in custom setups. Voiceover is great and app works reliably. Absolutely need a complication for Apple Watch. Other than that very pleased!

Worth every penny!. The level of customization in this app is amazing. The integration with my Apple Watch is flawless. This is the only running app I use now! Update: HR connectivity is a little slow on startup, but kicks in within 30 seconds. This is easily the best running app! Keep up the great work!

Love the multiple service support and Dev support. I love being able to export to multiple services. The dev response is timely and helpful. Love this app been using it for many years

Has become my go-to running app. I've tried about all the running apps and this has become my go-to! I record everything in iSR and then it lets me push to any of the services I could possibly want to do further analysis. I love the workout creation capabilities, too.

Works with Pebble!. So happy that this still works with my old original Pebble watch. It’s not officially supported anymore but it works great. I can keep my iPhone warm in my pocket on cold rides and see my HR, speed, elapsed time, etc. on my wrist or handlebar. Just lovely!

Best Running App Period. I’ve tried many running apps, paid and free. This one is almost perfect. Furthermore, it is a one-time purchase for a great price, and you own your own data; contrast with expensive subscription apps that own (and likely abuse) your data. Many thanks to the developers.

No structured workout guidance. I downloaded this app because it was the only app I could find that could sync with workouts on Trainingpeaks. While it does sync, this app provides no guidance during structured workouts. As an example, if your workout starts off with a 5 minute warmup followed by several sets of intervals, there are no prompts when your intensity levels change. I was very surprised that this app didn’t have such a basic and important feature. It didn’t fit my needs. I went back to using my Garmin.

Excellent app!. Plain and simple, good UI, good features, does what you need and no extra junk. No forcing you to sign up for an account, no providing personal info, no storing your data on their server to sell to advertisers. Much appreciated!

Trash App. If you value accuracy and intuitiveness don’t purchase this app. The first problem is it doesn’t accurately record information. The app recorded an indoor 3+ mile run at 30 minutes as .01 miles for 7:00, laughable. Further, the watch auto pauses mid workout, even with the auto pause feature turned off. The user interface is just as bad and makes it painful to create structured workouts. Wouldn’t trust this app to record anything accurately.

Basic and not worth the cost. It doesn't have much functionality that isn't free on other apps. I bought it for the audio cues but they don't work. It can't give current pace or time and the ghost interval and pace cues don't work. The only one that does work is heart rate zone cues. Using the app isn't very "smooth" but a bit infuriating. Auto pause is always turned on and I have to turn it off before every run.

Great Update. Really enjoying the new features like watch complication, auto upload of work outs and viewing more after run stats on the watch. Great job!

Crashes during workouts. At least once a week the app crashes mid workout and I lose all the data. I’ve narrowed it down to interval workouts when it moves from one interval to another it crashes. I’m using the Apple Watch ultra with the latest software updates installed. Use at your own risk, you will lose your workout info. Not worth it, find another running app. Very disappointing as it is super easy to use and customize.

Best interval app for Apple Watch by far. Finally an app that makes it easy to create interval and fartlek workouts of any type and have them available on Apple Watch without the iPhone. Combine that with ability to export Gpx files for use elsewhere and this is definitely the best of the many running training apps I’ve tried.

Perfect. This is the app for runners or those wanting to run. So customizable- wish I could change the font color, but just about everything else is. And love the watch app!

Not exporting. Have used this app for years and love but it stopped exporting this month. Also has stopped recording runs in list view of log. Not getting social media support from friends is a bummer but not reporting accurate history for runner is huge problem! Was supposedly fixing with recent update but it didn’t work.

Doesn't work well on the apple watch for cycling. When I go cycling I want to pair this app with my ble cadence sensor. It seemed to work but the app doesn't display the data well. I could get over that, but when running only on the watch my workouts keep auto pausing even though the cadence sensor shows me pedaling and I am obviously moving. Since I paid for the app I expected it to be better than the built in apple tracking. It is not.

GPS issues. Been using this app for my runs and I’m afraid it’s not meeting my expectations due to the fact it’s reading my elevation wrong, cadence is read wrong and the map is all over the place; I tried uninstalling, installing the app and things haven’t changed; I use the app with my Apple Watch ⌚️ series 2 in “watch only” mode. Very disappointed. I also using the iPhone se

Best running app. Revising I have been using this app for a long time. I used to love it. Started using it with apple watch and the audio cues for auto pause no longer work well. It stutters. Stops-starts-stops....really annoying. i tried everything to fix it. No more support. Emails unanswered. Facebook page is a joke. A shame. I used to love this app. I used it for all my runs. It looks like the end for me. Now I may be forced to go with workoutdoors. Seems like that app is better supported. Old review Ive been using this app for 3 years...better than Garmin, mapmyrun, etc. plus...you own your own running data...you dont surrender it to a company that uses it for advertising....

Perfect. This app is so clean and no nonsense. Other running apps are built around social media and trying to sell you shoes and subscriptions. This app is a one-time purchase, and it’s so straightforward and efficient. It has everything you need to track your workouts and nothing more. 5/5

Useless on my iPhone 11 Pro. Auto pause “paused” but didn’t restart, so I lost part of my ride until I noticed (and turned that feature off, which is stupid to have to do). Paired fine with my heart rate monitor, showed the rate during activity, but did not record anything there. GPS apparently did not work as I had zero mileage or speed. Is there no map on this thing either? How does this have all these good ratings? Strava stopped supporting Bluetooth HRM’s so I was hoping this would record my HR and ride to export to Strava. This was a waste of $6.

Everything I wanted in a running app and more!!!!. This app is fantastic, period! It speaks to me every half mile so it doesn't need to interface with a watch and gives me all the stats I'm interested in. I wear it in a waist strap iPhone holder and have it linked up with my Polar chest strap. Uses GPS flawlessly so no internet necessary. Get it, you won't regret it!!

Love the app, not exporting to Nike+. Tried a bunch of running apps and like this one the best, hands down. I like that I can export my runs into other apps, a function which has worked perfectly until this latest update. Now my exporting to Nike+ is failing. I’m sure that will get ironed out by the developers soon enough...

Best running app period. Have used for years now. Best running app ever. I pair with viiiiva hrm which accepts my foot pods ant+ stream and the hrm converts to one Bluetooth stream to the iPhone. Then auto uploads to my favorite websites, including smashrun. If you haven’t checked our smashrun - do! Cool ways of displaying unique info about your runs.

iSmoothRun needs some love. I’ve used this app and liked it for ~3 years but I can’t export to Runkeeper anymore, I can reauthorize my account to try starting over, and even though I have email export set up, the app can’t tell and exporting a run fails that way too. I was wishing last year that there was support for newer Wahoo monitors and there still isn’t. Sigh, I think this is good-bye, iSmoothRun. 😭

my GO TO run app for YEARS. I’ve been using this app for years and even though I have a garmin I still heavily rely on this app. The audible cues it gives is super helpful.

Apple Watch app crashing. I love this app and have been using it for a long time. Now app is crashing mid run and I loose all data for that run. It appears to crash when a notification come in to the watch. User support for app is nonexistent so hoping this gets some attention.

Paces inaccurate on Apple Watch. I’ve been trying to find a way to make my watch into a useful training/racing device. ISmoothRun is nice and configurable, so I had high hopes. I want to be able to see the heart rate from my chest strap along with some estimate of current pace/last mile pace. The heart rate was no problem. But I tried all three pace metrics (pace, 30 sec avg, 60 sec avg), and they all bounced all over the place on my Apple Watch Series 4. I didn’t bring an iPhone. I also had a Garmin Forerunner 235 and was also running the built-in Fitness app on my Apple Watch. They both gave much more useful pace estimates. Seems the the developers have more work to do to learn how to deal with GPS data to show something useful to runners. My search for how to make my Apple Watch into a useful running watch continues.

Used to be great. I don’t know what happened but this app used to be amazing and now is glitchy and awful. Specifically the audio. You can never get the cues to work or you can’t hear them over your audio. Now there’s a weird glitch where the audio reads EVERYTHING on my phone. And no I don’t have that accessibility feature on. What a waste of a great app

Needs polishing. The bad: Wasn’t working when leaving watch. Contacted seller and found the option to do watch only. The watch app needs usability improvements. UI action buttons should not be used for settings toggles. The good: Post session stats are good especially with the splits. I purchased this for heart rate training with audio feedback and it does that well. Tells me which zone I’m in so I can adjust my effort.

Nice but frequently forgets runs. Pretty nice app, but frequently does not show manually entered runs. I save a run, and it’s in the log. But the next day it’s gone. Then, a day after that, it’s back! Weird and kinda frustrating, but not a deal breaker for an otherwise very nice app.

Best running app and developer by far. This app is immensely powerful with all kinds of advanced and niche features. Furthermore they are incredibly responsive to feature requests and bug fixes. I asked for the ability to use metrics from my Stryd foot pod and the features were added only two weeks later!

Was great, but maybe no longer being worked on. Have really loved the app and even beta tested for them. Had a few bugs pop up and haven’t been able to contact anyone so maybe this is the end of ismoothrun, hope not as it does so much that other apps can’t.

SO CLOSE. Why can’t recovery be based on a heart rate zone? It seems so simple if target can be based on heart rate, just make it an option for recovery period rather than a time or distance. UPDATE - per developer’s note, it can achieve this function. Perfect!!

Best workout tracking app bar none. I’ve been using iSmoothRun for years and it continues to be the best workout tracking app... ESPECIALLY if you want to own your data and NOT be dependent on third-party services... but you can export to ALL of those too... even at the same time! Props to the devs. Love all the sensor support too!

If you make your own training plans this is the app to use. I couldn’t find anything else that could replace it. Frankly, this is one of the reasons why I’m staying with Apple, because of this app and the Apple Watch. If iSmoothRun were to be available in the google play store there’s a big chance I’d probably switch over.

Too many issues. The auto pause keeps turning my runs on and off but at least I could that feature off in the settings. Although it would’ve been nice if it worked properly. GPS never tracked any of my runs accurately. It was hard to hear the walk/run intervals. And if you want to hear your music playlist then it turns your music app and it runs continuously despite pausing or even ending the run. I’ve asked for a refund but haven’t heard back :(

Prompted for Health access every launch. Very good app but annoying to be prompted to allow health access every time I open it. Full access has been granted in phone settings. Another very annoying behavior on Apple Watch 5, this app beeps and sends haptic feedback every time you raise write to look at watch face. Only happens with this app. This alone is annoying enough that I am looking elsewhere.

Development appears to have stopped. The app has notable bugs on iOS 13/14. Dark mode sends it for a loop. The file API isn’t used so you’re forced to use Dropbox as a folder syncing tool if you don’t want to email every file to yourself. It’s still ok for basic data logging but so limited compared to what it could be. I’m guessing that in the age of the Smartwatch though, apps such as these are challenged. I’ve actual ordered a smartwatch to replace this app.

Zero stars if possible. Absolute trash. And I’m not one of these people talking about LTE capabilities, GPS sensors or other high-tech nonsense most people don’t care about. I’m talking about going for a run and being able to hit “start session” and the app actually tracking my run. Tried on the phone, without phone, with both...literally will not work. That’s all I’m asking for...tell me how far I have run and how fast I am going. Seems like $5 should get me this. Want my money back.

Great. The more I use this, the more I like it. It took awhile to figure out a few of the quirks but everything seems to work well and be correct. Just having cadence alone is worth the 5 bucks. Very happy. I had some issues and customer service seemed to be right on it. Good job!

Great but audio issue on Apple Watch. I’ve used this app for years and love it. I seem to recall that audio from my watch worked fine at first but that stopped at some point shortly after and is now barely audible. I’ve tried resetting my watch etc. but nothing restores the sound to audible levels.

Does not work on I watch. I so wanted this to work but after serval attempts I am throwing in the towel. 1 the heart will not register you have to open the heart app on watch leave it open then start iSmoothRun run on watch. Not a big think but does not register the heart rate during run unless you open the heart rate app while running. 2. Music does not auto start. Again open music pick your song list then it will work. Again not huge but still an extra step. 3. GPS data is off. Showed me running over roof tops. The Apple app for running no issues but this app draws straight lines. 4. Customer service is a zero. Sent emails via the feed back in the app no response. This app has potential just not there. I have asked Apple for a refund.

Does not sync with Final Surge. I got this to work with Final Surge back in December for a brief time but that was challenging and then it stopped working altogether, it just does not sync. I have a running plan from a coach in Final Surge and it is not populating in the training calendar. Also, the watch/phone combo doesn’t always work well. Disappointed, will not renew yearly upgrade plan. Waste of time and money for me.

Love this app!. I recently bought an Apple Watch Series 4 and wanted to see how well it tracked my walks and runs. I started iSmoothRun and walked for 4 hours with GPS and cellular enabled. I ended my walked 12 miles later with 77% battery remaining! This app works great on my Apple Watch Series 4. Thank you!

Dont buy. I tried multiple tests and had multiple failures. This feels like a bad alpha version. Phone + watch doesnt work at all. HR from watch wont display on phone. In fact setting any workout from phone doesnt display on watch, its like they dont communicate. I can actually start a workout on the phone and watch and it doesnt know they are the same workout. Display that i create wont display on watch. I am not sure what i paid for. They should offer a trial version so people could see this becore they test. Back to using apples apps.

Not a good first experience. Can’t believe I shelled out $4.99 for this worthless app. It did not work as it should have right out the gate. After reading the rave reviews I’m assuming I need to adjust its sensitivities and customize things. Might be perfect for the person who likes to customize their own pizza. I on the other hand prefer my pies already tailored because the toppings chosen already work the way they’re supposed to. I will be askin for a refund

Good but missing one thing. This is close to replacing my Garmin, but in order to effectively use this app for interval training, users need to be able to customize the lap/interval notification screen. When I’m doing a speed workout, I want to know how long my interval took, not my heart rate or cadence.

Apple Watch Friendly. I just got back from a run with the new version using only my Apple Watch 3 - ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! The audio through the bluetooth headset, along with all the other features, places iSmoothRun at the top of the hill. Love this app!

Best Running App Ever. This is by far the best running app I have ever used. It allows you to program any type of workout that you can think of and then sequence them to optimize your performance. I use this app to run the FIRST training program and it is like having a personal coach. I can’t recommend this app enough.
