Useful- could use improvement.. Reversibility might make this useful app more useful. By that I mean 1) you can get very different results by looking up a word in English than by starting from the Hebrew word. I'd also like to see the gender identified, plurals added, and I'd like to be able to flip the Flashcards for drills.

Nikkud and tags. More nikkud and a taggin system instead of bookmarks please!!

Best Hebrew App. This is a wonderful program from a good company the continues to improve it with new features. It allows you to create you own list of vocabulary words in Hebrew which you can memorize using a variety of flash card layouts. This dictionary is a great addition to other Hebrew learning programs by Rossetta Stone (or the inexpensive app that works just like it, Hebrew in a Month). Having a good dictionary like this allows you to get the most out of your study material and learn faster. I would encourage the developers to pay closer attention to Hebrew verbs and infinitives so that the Hebrew vocabulary ican become as extensive as the English. Also, it would be great if the user had the option of adding manually words that are missing. I am sure these features will be part of feature versions released by this excellent company. מזל טוב

Outstanding. I really love this app. I read, speak, write Hebrew well. Never the less I wanted to move to the next level. THIS APP IS GOD SEND!!!!!!! I'm learning too speak as an Israeli news anchor person. The very high level of the language. I made a statement to a born citizen of the country. He stated that was very high level Hebrew. Thanks to this App!!!!!!!

Easy to use!. I appreciate this app so much. It's very easy to use and to go at your own pace.

Not so great. There are some of us who don't have a fluent background in Hebrew and never learned to read Hebrew without vowels. There's no way to set it so all words contain vowels. Once in a while a word or phrase here or there will have vowels but, of course, what I need to look up don't have vowels so I can't even attempt to pronounce the words And many are in cursive instead of print - also impossible for people who don't know Hebrew in cursive. The app also is glitchy trying to bookmark words and phrases and put them in any type of coherent list is impossible. I'm sorry I wasted money in this app because it isn't better than the free one. And the female voice that speaks the words is hard to understand and heavily accented. Again no help at all.

Useful but flawed. A useful app, but with glaring limitations. Most verbs are missing from the Hebrew side. Many words have a definition reading, in entirety, "C". Vowel points are shown if you search by the English word but not by the Hebrew word. Flash cards don't show vowels. The word game is bizarre, frequently using English words that I (a well-educated native speaker) have never heard of. I use it because I haven't been able to find a better one, but I hesitate to recommend it.

Very Useful Tool!. I use this app daily to learn new vocabulary, look up words and phrases, and to translate tough sentences. There is a lot of useful info here! Could be improved by having more nikkud in the glosses to help beginners but that does not detract too much from the value of the app.

Love the paid version.. Very helpful with my other language studies. Thank you.

Almost useless. It needs to be made clear that this is an English dictionary for Hebrew speakers, not a Hebrew dictionary for English speakers

Do Not Purchase. While it is indeed true that in Hebrew there can many translations and interpretations of different words, I have found that the interpretation/definition of the words identified as the "word of the day" were so far off base and incorrect that it would be blasphemy to attempt to learn Hebrew from this app. DO NOT BUY

good learning tool. turn on Hebrew international keyboard and can type Hebrew words for English meaning. looks like a lot of Hebrew words still need English definition added.

It doesn't pronounce Hebrew words. I wish they would have mentioned in the description that it doesn't have pronunciation feature. Please update with pronunciation asap.

Great app!. I love this app it has so many great options to help you expand your vocabulary. I can only hope that they continue to improve upon this already great app.

Awesome app. I would definitely recommend this app to anyone studying Hebrew. I especially like how I do not have to be connected via wifi nor 3G in order to access this app.

Works Fine. This review is limited as I use only the text related sections. In general it is a very useful tool. What follows are hopefully helpful suggestions. Would love it to be easier and consistent to select and copy Hebrew or English text even between its own segments (one example: word of the day into translator). I can't figure how the bookmarks are useful. The recently used list should filter out duplicate entries. Touching the audio spots often misses and hits the menu and bookmark spots, very annoying (how about moving them down to the text-box divider area?) The WOD translator doesn't always match the translator results.

Awesome app. This is an excellent Hebrew app. One of the best features of this app is that it provides audio pronunciation of the Hebrew, which is not available is Google Translate. Also it provides a dictionary in addition to translation. I use this app every day for my studies. Only one suggestion for improvement: the app could be streamlined to reduce the number of keystrokes for navigation especially in the translator.

Very useful for airplanes. The full edition is pretty complete in both directions and is really useful for airplanes and other places you can't use Google Translate.

Does not play well with Duolingo. I am trying to learn Hebrew with Duolingo, and thought this would be a nice companion program. I could use the flash cards feature to help me review vocabulary, look up the roots of vocabulary words to help me understand them better, etc. However, there are quite a few words that are just missing. For example, נשים, the Hebrew word for women is strangely absent. ״נשים מוכות״ (battered wives) is there. נשיות (feminine) is there, but not נשים. These aren’t esoteric words, but common vocabulary words. Heck, by definition basic vocabulary words. Other vocabulary words don’t seem to agree with Duolingo. I can’t say that Duolingo is the prime source of vocabulary meanings, but my wife who is a native Hebrew speaker tends to side with Duolingo when there is a dispute. You use a language dictionary when you don’t know the language, and the dictionary has to be 100% trustworthy. Otherwise, you find yourself literally in a Monty Python sketch.

Useful. Helps a lot with my studies. Learning Hebrew as an adult and this is great for vocab.

Title. Not good, it's only worth it if your trying to learn to write what you know in English to Hebrew, but there are no definitions with any of the word and many words don't have plurals

Chaplain oh. Why is no male voices, there is a different between male and female pronouncement of words. I would like to be able to hear male pronunciation at times. Would you try to add the male voice?

Very compressive, highly recommended. Very handy and comprehensive app, good work, it just need more vocal "sound" assistance for pronunciation.

Backwards. I downloaded this app with the understanding it would help english speaking people learn Hebrew .....wrong ! it gives me a new english word everyday !? What !!!!?

Very good app. This is a very helpful app. In occasion there is a bit of gender confusion, but all in all, very good.

Fair. Some redeeming features. A translation dictionary without vowels is of very limited value. The provision of phrases using the word looked up is a plus for this app.

Not my first choice, but a great all-around app. Although this wouldn't be my first choice for a Hebrew dictionary, this is the only one I've found that works in both directions (H-E, and E-H) and has nekudos. Very thorough!

Very useful. I only have one complaint about this app. The voice recording is so mechanical it is sometimes is really hard to understand. Other than that the dictionary is very useful and was worth what I paid for it.

Decent. A good app but it would be better if you could search english to hebrew and hebrew to english. Also would be helpful if it included the gender of nouns, at the least, the irregulars ones. Please fix the problem with your parenthesis please

Easy to use. I use the program often. I do a lot of cut and paste which saves me a lot of time.

Real nice app!. Your development people did a real nice work here. Q: Is there a means to go back to a previous screen or toggle between screens for words, sentences, quotes? Maybe there is and I missed it. Really though, a real nice piece of work.

Lousy beyond saving. I spent a great deal of time building a bookmark list for review. When I installed the latest update the list was wiped out. Worse, a new list of words I don't want to review was substituted in its place!!!!

Totally worthless. The best feature of this app is that it links to Wiktionary, which is free on the internet. Totally worthless, a waste of $4

Excellent. Easy to use, and I use it often.

Pretty handy, but.... This is a handy thing to have on your phone out "on the street", but it's more geared towards Hebrew speakers who need an English dictionary. Only the English words are pronounced. Not much use for English speakers. Still, it is a pretty decent dictionary.

Nice program. This program is well worth its very low Price. Also, it is quite nice that you do not have to be online to use it. In a similar vein, it is very fast to look up words. Much quicker than the online applications! As someone mentioned earlier, it would be helpful to have the gender of nouns listed, and perhaps the plural form as well for nouns that are irregular, such as לילה. Thanks for designing this application!

No sound :/. I purchased this to help with my Hebrew vocabulary and pronunciation because i am a beginner to the language, but the sound on the app isn’t functioning, which is pretty disappointing. I’ll still use it as a dictionary i guess

Hebrew Dictionary. Good database of words, but only English to Hebrew. It should be emphasized that the dictionary is geared for Hebrew speakers. It would be a valuable feature to have Hebrew pronunciations.

Some deficiencies noted. The first words I tried to look up were missing. “Oz, Oznim” only brought up “Vz” words. Back to Brown-Driver-Briggs for me!!! I’m sure though that there are many many many other words I will need to research or look up that will be present, hence the 4 stars.

Poorly equipped audio archive. I feel scammed. I bought this SPECIFICALLY for audio pronunciations, and all of the words that I've looked up so far have no audio translation. I want my money back.

If you want to hear English to Hebrew. Don't buy this app , I only bought it to hear spoken Hebrew , this App doesn't do that , it only speaks English , in which I am fluent .

Hebrew. Needs correct pronunciation in Hebrew . Should be able to translate Hebrew into English and vice versa!

Pronunciation. The Hebrew pronunciation is not proper Hebrew. It is English pronunciation. Example the letter T in Hebrew transliterated as TAV pronounced in proper Hebrew as Tuv (similar to Tough). The app pronunciation is TAV as in Tavern. This is incorrect.

Great app. Does what it says; the paid version is worth the small investment.

Good but....,. The idea is good but the data base for Hebrew is flawed. At least 10-15% of the Hebrew words have their last letter missing. About 5% of Hebrew words are missing totally and only a C shows up. Most people using a translation dictionary don't know the language that well and to sell a dictionary with 15-20% mistakes is unforgivable!

No Hebrew pronunciation- very poor. There is no Hebrew pronunciation provided, unlike the Arabic dictionary in the same series. Without the sound facility or transliteration, this is of limited value for learning Hebrew; more of an English dictionary for Hebrew speakers.

Not quite what I thought. I was wanting a Hebrew / English dictionary that would be more useful in formal language terms. This dictionary has a bit too much casual idiom for learning a language's word meanings. I would have really loved connections to the Hebrew root system included. Still, I get reminded everyday to learn a new word!

downgrade. The recent upgrade has lost the vowel points which renders the app much less useful to me as a beginner at Hebrew. The interface is visually muddy also. I'm looking for a different Hebrew dictionary app now. Too bad, I thought the previous one was quite good, although the print could always have been larger.

Wrong links. When I look up an English word in Hebrew correct translations come up but when the Hebrew word is tapped you are taken to a different word completely often a totally unrelated word. This does not happen with other apps by the same authors.

Great app. Perfect for beginners like me..this is only the beninging..I plan on going further in my learning of the Hebrew language

Only one complaint. For Hebrew translations, the vowel marks are tiny and difficult to read on my iPod. I would really like the ability to zoom in. Otherwise, I love it, especially its ability to save a list of words I've translated.
