Employee of small, locally owned restaurant. I work at a locally owned restaurant in town with about 25-35 employees. Most of us have the app downloaded onto our smartphones and this app has made the scheduling system so easy! I find that the built-in chat feature is one of my favorite features about this app as it makes communication very easy between people, especially if you don’t like to give your personal number out to everyone! It would be cool if we could customize the colors of the app on our own phone—I do not love all the green! That’s my only “complaint” about this app! Other than that, this app has been perfectly executed. Thank you!

50% of the time the calendar is missing shifts. I work in a hospital setting where you NEED to show up to relieve the staff on duty. It’s dangerous to the patients to have an overtired nurse staying after their shift because someone thought they weren’t working that day. But almost every time I open this app it’s missing one or more of my shifts for each month. I have to scroll to a different month to refresh it and then scroll back, and sometimes that doesn’t even work. It’s especially difficult because I work overtime, so I have no way of knowing if the monthly schedule is correct when I says three shifts, cause I may have four or five. Letting employees ACCURATELY know when they work is the entire point of this app. I shouldn’t have to scroll back and forth every time to try to get the app to say my correct shifts and then HOPE it’s accurate, or have to text the supervisor on shift to confirm.

Group chat. It’s good app,maybe add a group chat between coworkers with same job title and have two week schedules instead of one week at a time. And also have the ability for the worker in shift to adjust his/her time then have supervisor approve instead of supervisors trying adjust times of all workers all the worker would need do was submit their adjustments then have approval from supervisor based on time and location stamp of app,,,!!!! Also some companies corporate office is based out of state,so how about having the time zone and time difference shown and adjusted according to companies and time zones/state. Another thing,I had download an hour tracker for my work hours due to mine and other coworkers being wrong based off this app so try having a subsection with clockin/out option that keep tracks of hours and adds in hourly pay and accounts for lunches and breaks….there is potential for this app I like it but I don’t like having multiple apps to help track everything along with always asking coworkers what’s going on!!!! Think smarter not harder we all in this together hooah! 😎🥷🏽💪🏽

I can't see history as of yesterday. I work for a major airlines and we use this app to track our shift drop split and trade we also use the history to keep track of who we picked up because w have to note it the day we work. As of yesterday. The history is not there for us. We deleted and reinstalled still not working please fix asap Also are team is large and we drop pick up swap and split a lot. Daily we have to put who we are working for. Can there be an added feature that when we pick up a shift that there is another line stating who we are working for it will eliminate a lot of issues for teammates and add the capabilities for teammates to add personal notes to a work schedule as a personal reminder. Right now it's only a supervisor feature. It will help teammates when we need to remind ourself for future task in one place. Thank you in advance

Incredibly slow and poor customer support. My biggest gripe as the account holder is that it’s as slow as molasses in January. I’m on a government T1 fiber line (shared) and it just shouldn’t be this slow. I’ve tried 4 different browsers and they’re all the same. It just shouldn’t be this slow. Today I attempted to have customer service delete a personal email address I’d used to set up a dummy account. I’m the account holder and it was my email address. They flat out refused and told me it was policy that once an email is set up with a profile they can’t change it for security reasons but that only the user can change or alter it. I AM THE USER! The guy just continued to tow the company line. It was ridiculous. I’ve had many other frustrating interactions with their CS and at this point I’m about to jump ship. Add to that the poor reporting features and it’s just getting to be more of a headache than anything. If you’re a small company/organization with very light and simple scheduling needs it might be ok since you won’t have to deal with CS much.

When I work...great!. This app works great for our ever-changing work schedule. I love it because it is up-to-date and I can always see who I am working with each and any day. The text and email notifications are great. Individuals can set the shift notifications to meet their own needs. The app also has push notification shift reminders which are also useful for people that don't check their email that frequent. Once our boss updates the schedule we get an immediate notification of the shift change, so we are never in the dark. For tech savvy individuals, it's a great app. I hope we could continue to use it!

Changing Availability is Impossible. Every once in a blue moon, it will let me look at my availability slots and even change them, but most of the time the button is completely gone from my dashboard and when I go to Find More Hours and try to input my availability, it says the ability is disabled for me and it doesn’t show the availability I’ve already filled. This is so frustrating because I have a busy schedule but want to make sure I’m getting more hours. I’ve tried deleting the app and redownloading it and logging out and back in. Neither worked. It’s very stressful having to think that in any moment the schedule will be posted and I’m either not on it at all or I get scheduled when I CAN’T be.

Delivery driver. I have not been with them long, but they make you feel like family right away. It’s a great learning experience for anyone. There are many different tasks that you do, so you are learning all the time. You can let them know what hours work best for you and they will work with you on most anything you ask of them. Joel and Hutch are great guys to work with, along with the rest of the staff you feel very comfortable. The pay is ok. But great for moms , or anyone else that wants a job just to stay busy and make some extra spending cash. Full time is available but not mandatory. I love it myself. Glenda Tripp P.S. Cool app. I can clock in on my phone ty. Please make it not randomly sign me out though. Thx Update: Awesome developer contacted me abt my login issue which is really a non issue. To be fair i have been using the app for a couple months now daily and have only been logged out unexpectedly twice. Super convenient app. Especially the notification abt “your lunch break is about to end.” The only other feedback i have is maybe make it so i can set the amount of time before my break ends when it notifies me. Current it notifies me 1 minute before my break ends. I would prefer an option to change it to a notification 5 minutes prior to break end. Thanks

Availability no longer usable. I am an MFA student, so being able to set my availability for different parts of the year is incredibly important. With the old version, this was incredibly easy to do. I was able to set different availabilities for different parts of the year, set when they started and ended, and add names and descriptions for each, making it easy for both me and my employer. But since the new update, that is impossible. The interface for availability has become confusing, and setting specific dates is no longer apparently possible. Any change made to a specific day is applied to all dates indefinitely, regardless of what the starting date or end date is set as. It is effectively impossible to set an availability beyond the current week, an even then it must be entered day-by-day using a calendar. This is unacceptable. I have no choice but to use this app, since my employer set it up, and now I have to submit my availability by hand and hope it’s respected. This may actually cost me shifts in the long run, since my employer is already inflexible with the schedule as it is. I imagine I’m not the only user in this situation. Please return the availability menu back to its previous, usable form.

Multi Store Manager. I love this app , it's very useful for our business , helps tracking where people log in or out ,and it lets you know when someone forgot to clock in as well. We've been having problems for a while with it logging users out but i think that got fixed , the only thing that's not really convenient with the new update is the filter when wanna check out the schedule for a certain location , i think the old way was way more convenient especially when you have access to multiple locations it will show you all of the locations at once ... it's kinda of a mess ! wish you guys went back and eliminate that filter , other than that's it's a great tool !

Used to be ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I find the app easy to use. It heaven has an option to be able to click in on a shift even when one isn’t scheduled and you get called in to work. But…. It used to allow all employees of a location within the company I work for to see ALL OTHER EMPLOYEES SCHEDULES. It disappeared like 3 months ago. It was so convenient for swapping shifts and for making sure all shifts were going to be covered if someone was calling off work. I asked management within our company if they changed it within their schedule app but they said no. They have checked and it appears that option to VIEW ALL SCHEDULES is just gone. Please restore it.

Functional and straightforward. Pretty easy to navigate, features work well without bugs or glitches that I’ve noticed, doesn’t have any weird unnecessary ads. I suppose I haven’t really looked at the privacy or data collection settings yet, but can’t really find any negatives with the app in the time I’ve used it. Edit: privacy policy mentions location data, but I’d venture to guess there’s a companion app for clocking in/out that makes sure you’re actually at the job site. My company doesn’t use that so I can’t say for sure, but I didn’t see anything alarming in the notes.

The fact that you can integrate this with multiple jobs is cool.. I have not used the feature of using this as an employee with multiple jobs, as my other jobs are not using this particular app, but the option is there , which I see as a convenience in that case. This does help me , as an employee, to click in and out or my shifts that I am scheduled for with the company I am using it wirh, and it allows you to track the hours that you worked. I think it would be a little better if it could have the exact hours you clocked in and out to be able to be shown , rather than just the shift time hours being counted as a whole, though.

I hate this app. The app has a terrible track record with deleting your availability after a year and not letting you set it for multiple years even if you’re not leaving the company. Even if you are leaving it should be an option. Once a year after being forced to use this app for work,I always end up with my availability not lasting longer than a year and me being put on shifts that I can’t work and getting in trouble with my boss for not having my availability set up correctly. I set it up correctly but then your app decided that it can’t hold anything longer than a year, which is absolutely ridiculous. If somebody doesn’t plan to leave their job anytime soon or has worked there for multiple years. I don’t even get a week or two week notification that it’s disappearing and that I should go in a adjust it again. It just gets taken off and I get scheduled and yelled at for not being able to work the shift. Thanks for nothing.

Production Assistant. My name is Jack Bays! I’m a Production Assistant at Two Men and a Garden since September 2022 - the present. So, that means I get to help make all the products and then send them to our main packaging/warehouse associate, Bob Smith, who can officially label all the products I make and then package them up and get them ready for shipping. I work with an extraordinary group of men & women in the kitchen making all of the products in a fast pace just like our boss owner/founder Joel Austin always loves. I know I said I work in the kitchen a lot since that is my main job title as a Production Assistant. But luckily, with all my flexibility and with Joel’s permission, I am able to help Bob out some with his packaging work by making and preparing the boxes for him for shipping since the boxes don’t come pre-made. You actually have to make them by hand. So, I always love making boxes for him, so he can just immediately start labeling and packaging up the products without even worrying about having to make the boxes first to make his work go by twice as fast since we do have to make at least 200 jars of product every single day, if not more depending on how busy we’re because of how rapidly this business has grown within the past few years. And I’ve always love using the When I Work App for my work at Two Men and a Garden. This is how I can stay updated with everything going on at my workplace when I’m not there on my off days or something. I can use that to make my schedule since it is kinda flexible scheduling. And I can also see what products we’re making every day, so I’ll be prepared. So yeah, I really enjoy everything here at my job including the When I Work App.

Gopuff. To build on what I was suggesting, Gopuff has multiple locations within one major metropolitan market. Usually our drivers drive for multiple offices. The GMs drop the shifts all at the same time (Thursdays 1245) that doesn’t make sense either..& the shifts are first come first serve so they are filled in under 60 seconds. If WIW was able to have one mass streamline of all the offices within a single metro where drivers would get the hours they want even if it’s not at the office of their first or second option. As of right now it’s a lottery of picking the right office & landing the shifts you want. There has to be a better way !! Too many people are left without workout with the current system. Thanks!

Bad app design. I have had When I Work for some time now, and I have had multiple bad experiences with this app. As a teenager trying to dip my toe in the water when it comes to work, I don’t think that it’s fair that I have to deal with my manager reprimanding me over missing a shift due to the apps poor coding. It is extremely scary knowing that your boss is irritated with you missing a shift and constantly having problems with the app. I shouldn’t be put through this and nor should anyone else. To clarify the exact problem I had, I experienced login problems via Apple ID. Every time I tried to use Touch ID it would take me to a blank screen with one two options. One to find a new workplace or create one. I finally figured out that since I had already registered my account under an iCloud account, I could just log in via the email. While this may seem like a simple solution, this is a product of poor app design and should be fixed immediately.

It’s just not great.. A bit clunky, messenger/chat app is absolutely horrible. My employees rarely ever get notifications on their phones. Also each month I have to redo the entire staff schedule because it won’t just copy all the shifts to the next month. You can run the shifts for months, but then when you “change all” the shifts it assigns it out for as long as you have run the shifts, so the next month I still have to redo it, because employees change availability and shifts each month. All the checklists and task lists are hard to find and can only be viewed in week or daily view, but I am always looking at the month view. If you’re schedules rarely change, and communication through the app is not a priority, you will probably my be fine. Oh also, no place to call for support, they only ever suggest you delete and redownload the app every time there is a problem. They never address the core issues.

Awful!!. Usually I don’t leave reviews on apps but for this app I need it for work and it’s glitches has created complications for my every day life. I updated the app and when I reopened it kicked me out of my work group. I tried to log back in and it said find a workplace and I typed in my job and it said it was waiting for approval from my manager but the same email that said I was waiting for approval is the email where I get notifications from this app saying my schedule as if I am already in the group even though when I go into the app it says it kicked me out. it’s super Frustrating because when I go in the app I can see my self as one of my coworkers like it’s two separate profiles even though it’s the same email and same profile which makes no sense. This is an app I need to see my schedule for work and to see my work chat for work updates finally my manager had to except the request that made it look like I was a separate profile but I have only signed up with one email and it’s the same email I used for them to accept me back in. So we had to start all over and I can’t see my past schedule or my hours but I can see my other profile that apparently doesn’t exist anymore

Use to be better. Biggest problem of this site now is there is no where to request availability for certain times. For example, I might have a dr appointment in the morning and available to work 11-7 or 12-8 but busy in the am. Or busy after 5:30pm so can only do an am shift. There use to be a section for that to be added. Not just days off. It makes it difficult for part time workers and full time workers who might need to take an am or pm off for an appointment. So our managers have to deal with figuring out our schedule on this along with pieces of paper we now have to give them for our availability. It would be great if you added that back in to the program. Thank you Debbie

This app functions OK, but HUGE FLAW. The When I Work app does all that it advertises, sure, but it has a huge flaw that is worth bringing it down from 5/5 stars to 2/5... The schedule filters do not clear themselves automatically so every time you open the app and view the Scheduler tab, you will only see information based on your previously selected filters. Let me explain the problem: Bobby works for a company that has multiple different locations and/or shift starting times. Bobby looks at his schedule and glances at his week- he sees no upcoming shifts and makes plans- flash forward to the end of the week and Bobby gets a call from his boss asking why he hasn’t been showing up to his work all week... turns out the last time Bobby used the When I Work app to check his schedule, he had set his filter to only view [Night Shift]- but when he loaded up his app to check his schedule this time, the filters was still set. Bobby didn’t see any shifts under the [Day Shift] category because his filter didn’t reset from 3 days ago. Maybe your business categorizes shifts by location and not time, in which case a single filter could be hiding EVEN MORE. Imagine being an employer and having employees no-show to shifts constantly over something as simple as a stupid filter accidentally restricting how much of the entire schedule the employees can see. Imagine your business looking bad because it can’t perform up to par because employees can’t know when to show up. That’s what it’s honestly like to use this app. Sure, you can remind people to always check their filters but realistically, people forget constantly and it shouldn’t even be something they need to remember. Constant headache. Do you reprimand an employee because for something like this? Great, now we have a moral and ethical dilemma. Too bad the filter didn’t clear itself from the last usage!

Greatful. I truly enjoy my “When I work” app, checking and knowing my schedule has never ever been soo convenient. As a supervisor I’m also able to view every employee that is also scheduled with me which really comes in handy when it’s time to schedule breaks. I’m also able to request time off and view if there is any days open (on the days that I’m not scheduled) for OT. The weekly alerts prior to my actual work week is such a great asset for me to review and make any adjustments to my schedule if need. And lastly, having my picture added as an option for other coworkers to view ; helped me to be able to communicate and learn everyone’s name, as well as their positions within the company. In which I , really felt was generous as well as Genius… easy to navigate from profile to dashboard and all the other categories provided … so with that being said I really enjoy this app and look forward to being very mobile while being apart of a Great team of Hospital Transporters!!!!

Delivery Partner. As a delivery partner all my warehouse managers and other co workers super friendly and helpful. Easy to work with and very respectful all each other. Nothing to complain. My only concern is last week I received an email about special weekly offer. If I work on certain hours I get some extra bonuses, which is great because my all other co workers also getting this offers on a weekly basis and that was my first e mail and I get super excited. After a week I didn’t receive any confirmation massages or e mail about the working hours I’ve done with that offer. I send an email to driver support and I received a massage saying ups we send you that e mail by mistake?! I hire a babysitter just to able to work on that late hours shift so I can make some extra money now you just saying sorry to me. I am totally disappointed. The answer I’ve received from the support team. I worked my other driver friends work as well. They all getting there bonuses but ME NO! I shouldn’t be punished because of someone out there sending me that e mail “by mistake” . Here is my very honest review, related to my very recent experience .

It’s okay?. This app has been nice for scheduling purposes, however, I have add major issues with the “workchat” section. First off, I sometimes don’t get a notification that a text has been sent in the group chat. This has happened on many occasions, and it hinders my ability to pick up extra shifts or cover shifts. Secondly, I am having major issues with once I send a message, it disappears on my end. I don’t know why this happens, and it’s simply frustrating. I then have to send another text because I am unsure if the person has received my first message. I have the iPhone XS, so perhaps my phone is the issue, but I have the latest software upgrade from WIW so my phone model shouldn’t be an issue. Perhaps other people are having the same issues as myself, and would love to have my issues resolved because it’s annoying. However, I like how it’s a scheduling and a message app which is convenient. I just wish the issues with the messaging would be fixed!

You won’t regret this!. I had searched and searched for an online tool like this to help organize the schedule I make for my employees. All other programs I looked into, required payment for even the most basic packages. When I work is FREE for the basic scheduling options. Through the app, my employees can request time off, switch shifts with others, see what position they are scheduled for each day, etc. They also get immediate notifications when their shifts have been changed. To top it off, a rep from the app even called to make sure I didn’t have any questions or problems getting it all setup. Can’t say enough good stuff about this!!

Great App, just one minor issue. I have been using this app for a couple years now and love it! It’s so easy to use and makes scheduling so much easier! The ONLY thing I wish they would change (and I think over the years I’ve emailed them at least 5 times about it) is the way time off is displayed on phones for managers to see. Anytime someone wants to ask for time off they text me and it is not possible for me to easily check how many other people have the day off. The way the app shows days off is in order of when people asked for it off, which means I have to scroll through all the days off and diligently look to see if I see the same date. I WISH there was an option to organize days off in order of the date needed. I always get the same response (that they will pass it off to their team to look at)…I can’t imagine I’m the only one who sees this could be useful.

ON SM. I’ve had a really positive experience using the When I Work app. It’s very user-friendly and easy to navigate, even when you’re first getting started. One of my favorite features is the ability to filter through specific criteria—it quickly pulls up exactly what I’m looking for without any hassle. I also appreciate the text message alerts, which make it easy to stay updated on schedule changes or important notifications without constantly checking the app. The group messaging feature (Msgs) is another highlight—it makes communication with the team simple and efficient. Another feature I really like is how the app can sync my schedule directly to my personal calendar on my Apple phone. It makes planning my days so much easier since everything is in one place and I don’t have to manually add my shifts. Lastly, I like how easy it is to submit time-off requests directly through the app. It’s straightforward and saves time compared to more traditional methods. Overall, it’s a reliable and convenient tool for managing schedules and staying connected with your team.

Getting worse. This app has gone from useful to incredibly frustrating since the most recent update. It’s glitchy and broken in ways that make basic management tasks a nightmare. When I approve shifts as a manager, it doesn’t even confirm the approval anymore — it just kicks me back to the home screen. That means I have to start over again and again instead of being able to move through approvals efficiently. On top of that, archived users who are no longer employees still show up with pending shifts for approval. There’s no way to delete them or make them disappear, so I end up looking at the same irrelevant shifts multiple times. It’s a complete waste of time and makes the approval process even more frustrating. The calendar view is poor, and to make matters worse, features don’t even line up between the app and desktop. On the app, you can compare schedules for specific employees (a very helpful tool), but on the desktop version this isn’t even an option. For a paid service, this lack of consistency and basic functionality is unacceptable. Overall, the app is at an all-time low in terms of quality and usability. It used to be a helpful tool, but now it feels like it creates more problems than it solves. As a paying customer, I’m extremely disappointed.

Great app. I find apps usually hard to navigate but I figured this one out easily and the interactive features are helpful I can’t think of anything we need to do schedule wise that we cannot accomplish on this app, I would recommend it, only critique I have is that there should be a feature that allows us to see Sunday so we know if we are working next day, because not every work place works a Monday through Friday shift the restaurant business usually goes from Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday, if I am incorrect I apologize , but as an employee I find this frustrating at times and it requires us to have direct contact with scheduling manager, when the whole purpose of app, I think, is to decrease the possibility of forgetting to convey schedule updates to each individual. Ok. I had a bad initial experience; but, after deleting and reloading the app, it Almost became useable. My main suggestion now would be to change the placement/color of the Clock in/clock out button, and the Take Shift button. They are the same and easily confused in haste. I picked up a shift unintentionally, because I was trying to clock in. The app froze...couldn’t clock in. Back out and came back in...pushed the button. Apparently came back to a different screen and ended up signing up for a shift that I didn’t want. Another update: received notification that the schedule for the upcoming week was released...so contractors can pick up time blocks. I cannot see any of them. Next week is blank. In fact, every day is blank. I’ve never been able to access this to sign up for blocks. Ever. Which means I can’t get priority on the jobs. In case I’m just missing something, I tried their tutorial videos...and what do you know?...they don’t play. None of them. Every one is a black screen. Well done.

Pleasant to check. I really enjoy the ease of picking up shifts, seeing which ones are available and the organized layout to look at. I only wish dropping shifts was easier; currently I have to unselect every shift over the course of a week to just pick one shift I want to drop or swap. It would be awesome if all the shifts were already unselected and I just choose which one I know I’m dropping or swapping instead of them all being pre-selected. I also can’t see all shifts when trying to figure out the schedule for the day. The shifts that are permanently scheduled I can’t see, so it almost looks like those shifts aren’t occurring at all. But overall I do enjoy the app and find it mostly helpful and easy

Frustrating when first pulling up app on phone. I use this app for scheduling at my job, and it is very frustrating sometimes having a full screen pop up about one shift confirmation when I’m trying to do a quick task. It would be nice if it was a separate tab or section of your schedule we can go into ourselves and confirm. But the most frustrating part about this app is that it will keep the data of which day you last looked at your schedule and will automatically pull that days schedule up, regardless if it’s even relevant to the current work week. I have to click on “my schedule” then continue to scroll to find the actual current work day or next one I am working, rather than it just pulling it up automatically. I’ve had a time where a schedule that I looked at 2 weeks ago got pulled up automatically instead of the current one and due to that, some scheduling mistakes were made in our store. Yes, we should’ve paid more attention, but I didn’t think a simple scheduling app would keep the data of which day I looked at previously, even if that was 2 weeks ago. I do not want data saved of which day I was previously looking at, it’s unnecessary, confusing, and frustrating. Please update the app to automatically pull up the current work day/work week schedule. Thank you.

Great to use for businesses!. - This app is decently easy to use for beginners in technology! - Super easy for a manager to explain how to use the app to their employees. - Uses icons in order to help you find things easier while using the app. - And most importantly, “When I work” is extremely useful for handing out schedules to your employees! -Allows you to see other employee’s shifts for the week. - Extremely useful if you get anxiety when it comes to wondering if your employees know their shifts or not, because when getting their hours, they have to accept them first. It will also send an email to them the day of to remind them they are working and when. Overall, “When I Work” is really useful, simple to use, and definitely helps when making sure your employees are organized with their schedules! The inky thing I don’t know would be if it would work as easily for a larger business rather than a small one. Definitely recommend trying though!

Good Ideas…could be more intuitive and informative. I generally don’t have problems with app. The only thing is when changes are made to my schedule by my employer I don’t get any kind of notifications. If there is a setting for this I haven’t found it. That’s not to say it doesn’t exist but It’s not something that I was prompted to set up. Also it wasn’t completely apparent that I needed to indicate that I wanted my availability to “repeat”. Otherwise what it does essentially is prompt you to list your availability for the following week, but it never prompts you to list your availability beyond that first week. If it weren’t for an incident where I had gotten scheduled for a Sunday which I thought I had indicated I was “unavailable” for but in reality I only listed my preference for any given day for the first week only. So I would explain to new users that you have to fill out your availability and use the “repeat” slide button or go through the calendar manually and list your availability for as many days as possible or at least for a few months. Other than that the app has nice and helpful features like who works and when, as well as a place to message co-workers without having their personal phone numbers.

When I work App. I started using ability beforehand when I started back at my job and they transferred over to this app officially - I find it very easy to navigate and use, I also find it extremely helpful when seeing my current schedule; along with who I will be working with on my scheduled shifts. It would also be awesome if we could see our current hours totaled at the end of the week (meaning if I picked up more shifts in that current pay period week) but other than that I really do recommend getting the app for employers/employees! One more thing- I love that we can be able to see notifications/messages from our administrator so we can all see/communicate:-)

The new “My Availability” section is terrible. We use When I Work in our college to manage student employees. They used to set up an “Availability” calendar based on each semester and whenever they require a change in schedule, we just would have them to either request time off or create a new availability for that period. The old Availability system allowed then to do that very quickly since you graphically visualize your week, but now we have to add slot by slot in a very complicated way. I understand that the new system would probably serve occasion when the employees will have a different schedule every week, but I honestly think this is a minority among When I Work users. I think it would be great to have both new and old systems working together.

New update is TERRIBLE. Before, creating my schedule and setting my availability was a breeze! I could switch it whenever school was in session or vice verse. I could even set a preference for being unavailable twice in one day, or set my availability for a certain time span up until a specific date. Now it is on a weekly basis - terrible idea. For example, for Friday I am available all day. But now, I want to make my Friday’s unavailable to work from 5pm-12. When I try and input this, it keeps telling me it’s “conflicting with another day.” This is absolutely absurd! It’s not conflicting with another day because I don’t care about future dates, I want it to be consistent every Friday now! Now I have to delete my entire availability schedule for each day just to change ONE availability for any day. It’s ridiculous. PLEASE undo this. Or at least give each person an option. Maybe it’s a glitch because being a 19 year old, completely understanding technology, me nor my coworkers the same age as me can figure this out.

Very easy and efficient. There are plenty reasons I love this app but here are the main ones. Availability: It allows you to set what times and days you’re unable to work (or prefer to work) which really reduces on people calling in to say they can’t make it. Clock ins and outs: I am someone who frequently forgets to clock out so I love it. It also allows you to set what time you clock out and in. Who else is working: It automatically shows you on the front page who is going to be working with you! The front page also shows what shifts you need to confirm so you don’t forget. Hope you get this app cause it really is great and showcases much more than I mentioned!

Great Utility, Works Great, Needs UI Improvement.. I use this app for multiple independent contracting jobs. It works and does what it intended with the main features I use listed below. - Clock In - Clock Out - Take Lunch - Retroactively adjust time sheets (for those times when i forget to clock out) Overall the app is very effective and I have had no issues with its use. Show Timesheet Entry Hours for each entry: Hours for multiple projects within same day need further breakdown of hours for billing. You can see total hours for each day and times shown for when you clocked in but there is not information of the further hour breakdown from the overall total. We need that to sort the billing and having to do it manually currently. Design/UI: It would be beneficial to get the ability to adjust the UI. I’m not looking for extreme customization but a “Dark” option would be great for us working late hours in the dark. The green…….I just don’t like it. Round the top corners of your sections to give a modern look and not look dated. Artificial Intelligence But, how would AI help an work hour app? - Language Processing for Work chat - Voice Commands - Add a chat feature to be able to “talk” to your time sheets and chat history using ChatGPT 3.5 Turbo or GPT4 and add it as a paid feature for token use. Or if we have our own API, we could use it. - AI Intelligent reminders (analyze work patterns and offer reminders more efficiently using calendar synch.

Usability across devices. This app has been the most user friendly so far and simple to use for different stages of staff computer-savyness. My family has employed several person that ‘don’t necessarily’ use a computer or smart phone for many activities but they say they all like the app, and Most of the time are able to open it on their phones But they can not see each other’s schedule, even when published. My motorola phone cannot do the same things as my iPad or laptop, which can be a hindrance. The free features are good and I would pay for more features if it cost less & I was able to at least be able to do more on my “smart phone”, like fix the schedule. And if everyone in their category could see each other’s schedules. I love the ability to message on the app itself. Thanks for the quick response from customer service & the follow-up.

Hands-down the best app of its kind.. I’ve tried many different shift scheduling/clock in/out apps before. Some were good, some less than good, and some were outright treacherous. ‘When I Work’ is not good, it’s not even great, it’s spectacular; it is by far the best scheduling/shift planning/hours and pay tracking/extra shift finding app I have encountered with! While the smartphone version offers all the features you need, it is not until you access ‘When I Work’ from your pc and realize this app’s incredible potential. The amount of clever features and details is amazing, it’s like having a bookkeeper/HR person sitting next to you ... for free! Time is money and having this app saves you both. Lastly, kudos to your customer service… big kudos, that is. When I first installed the app, I needed some help so, I e-mailed your customer service, hoping they can enlighten me within 24 - 36 hours. However, I was wrong ... I received an e-mail with detailed explanation within an hour. So, keep doing what you’re doing … because you are doing it right!

Been using them since day 1. When I opened up business back in 2014, I needed a system that would allow my staff members to clock in and out right from their smart phones, adjust schedules with ease, easily calculate the number of hours worked, and most of all easily schedule my team in minutes. Wheniwork allowed this. Their customer support team is quick . When COVID-19 happened, they were right there to help us and pause payments until we were able to re-open business. I haven’t looked at any other scheduling system since. Thank you wheniwork!

Amazing software for any business. I truly enjoy the ease of navigating through the software. Scheduling is a breeze as well as truly helpful by allowing client employees to clock in from their mobile phone. Working in the home care industry, our caregivers are unable to clock in from a stationary device. So, being able to clock in from their mobile device is truly helpful. The added perk of being able to keep track of where exactly an employee clocks in is essential to ensure that they are clocking in and out while at the client’s home. One recommendation I would make, is update the software so that employers can set up the clock in and clock out with the 7-minute rule.

SUGGESTIONS. Hello! I’m using this app with my current job from an employee perspective. While the overall app is really great, there are two things that I think would really help improve it! The first thing would be to allow work chat message feeds to be deleted. I have so many one on one chat threads between me and another coworker that I no longer need. I can’t even delete a old message feed with people who are no longer employees. Secondly, it would be really helpful to add in message reactions! Rather than having each employee individually send a thumbs up emoji— having message reactions would still allow engagement but not take over the message feed. Overall, I believe these two suggestions would help improve the functionality and convenience of this app!

Almost perfect. I usually try to start my clock out at 58 or 59 minutes past the hour if I am going to type some clock out notes in the space provided in the clock out pop up window. But I have noticed that if It has turned to the next hour as I am finishing my clock out notes (or maybe because I am taking too much time) I will be clocked in instead of being clocked out. This just happened to me yesterday. I thought I was clocked out and I left. Ten minutes later I get a message on my cellphone telling me I need to clock out. I was driving so it ended up being 15 minutes after my shift should have ended that I clocked out again.

Perfected Scheduling. I’ve personally been affected by workplace toxicity from good managers trying their best to cater to the employees and their schedules. Regardless of the quality of the company, random things in life happen to everyone, and it can be difficult to arrive on time to a job whether or not you like it or need it. This app has fixed that problem by allowing instant communication between the mgmt and the team, and allows me to see my personal schedule on demand. Trading shifts or switching hours is easy. I work in Hollywood, and I’ve never seen such an easy method of attaining peace of mind with how I will make my money. This app is my first time experiencing such an upgrade in my climb to success.

Post and Pray Method is Out the Door!. I manage a small swim club with approximately 27 staff members. I was using MS Publisher to type up a schedule, hang it on the wall and pray people showed up for shifts and had shifts covered when needed. The problems came when the guards started texting me to swap shifts and I couldn't keep track of it. WhenIWork has saved my life! I am able to develop a schedule, post it and the guards can swap away because the can only swap with other guards holding the same certifications! I no longer stress that there will be missed shifts, confusion about when to work and failure to cover for people! The app also helps me manage payroll to insure I stay within budget! I can't run the club without this app. I can't say enough great things about the support team and the ease of use. Download it! You won't regret it!

Best job ever!!!. I can say that I have done Uber, Uber eats, DoorDash and I have found that go path is an amazing place to work for. I’ll be employees are so kind and the management of spectacular. They understandWhen issues come up and they’re there to help you. I can say that I needed help as I got stranded on the freeway. I let management now through the app which every driver on the clock in C, and one of the drivers that does not even know me came and rescued me from a four hour wait on the freeway for a tow truck. I recommend this company to not only work for but you order from as it is well organized and thought out. Definitely Covid free with all the actions that we take. Love go puff❤️

Makes life a little less hectic. Well, not to sound like a lot of other reviews but I’m usually not one to have time or patience to write reviews. Though, I do feel bad because I do read a lot of them when deciding on something to choose for myself. ANYWAYS, I try to be more to the point now. There is nothing wrong I can currently say is with this app. It doesn’t glitch or run slow. It’s coincident. The clock in, clock out process is very easy to use and I really like how it will show you how long you’ve been on lunch break for and even send you notifications about break almost being over. Scheduling, Contacting other employees, etc. work just as well, making life run a bit more smoothly. Definitely worth the 5 star rating.

Notifications. I used to receive plenty of emails offering shifts available, but now, I receive none. It’s only by chance when I look at Open Shifts, that I may see them, so am missing out on heaps. I have tried deleting the app, re-installing it but nothing has changed. I have looked at Settings and Notifications, and ticked the right boxes, but don’t know what’s wrong. No one seems to be able to help.

Does NOT have an improved Schedule View.. From a scheduling POV, previous versions’ method of filtering the view was FAR more efficient. The clunky “improved” view may bearable for an employee checking out their own shift, but not when you’re scheduling several dozen employees across several location, working through the week.

iPhone 13 pro problems. This app is really slow keeping up with the latest iPhones. It took almost a year to stop crashing with my iPhone X and now my iPhone 13 pro is the same. Still crashing and freezing up after almost a year after it’s release. Yes l’ve been deleting and reinstalling the app regularly. Can’t believe my workplace is still paying for it.

Employees complaints. The app in theory works. How ever, you need wi-fi to use and even that it will say there is no internet connection at work or home. With notifications turned on most people at work don’t get notifications. The drop or swap shifts is very basic, however I don’t know if that’s from workplace management or app development. Keeping in mind we use it in hospitality.

Helpful & easy to use. My employer uses this program for rostering, layout is easy to ready and efficient way to find out working hours, request holidays and all the in between.

Functionality of free version. Love using the free version. Been using it for years, promoting to members in my groups. 9days out is too restrictive though, it should be 2 weeks. I understand holding back some functionality is to encourage purchase, it would be better for the team to be able to plan more than a week ahead.

Re: Jennifer Abdallah/ Albert. The participant refused to have a shower under my direction. It is understandable that he would not want to shower in front of me but he refused to shower as required. He only wanted to have a conversation with me and asked me to sit on his lap. Although this is inappropriate behaviour, I ignored this and remindeed the participant that I was there to assist him with household tasks and to assist him in having a shower in any way possible.

Unnecessary update. I’m sorry but the new update is terrible. It deleted ALL my availability for the rest of the year which I just input 3 days ago which took me ages. And now I’ve been forced to input all my availability again on an even worse interface that took me twice as long. The new availability interface, both in the app and on the computer is very annoying and clunky to navigate, and also unclear. The other one was much simpler and smoother to use and the option to add multiple availabilities was really convenient for those of us who work casually. My boss just notified us that EVERYONE (40 plus people) from our workplace will have to input their availability again because they all got deleted due to the app update. We rely on this app heavily and have a strict rostering system that was just finalised yesterday and now my boss has to start from scratch. Please go back to the old interface for availability preferences. Really disappointed.

sick day option. there’s no way to ask for a sick day. you can only drop or swap shifts but management rarely looks at those so there’s not a chance for other employees to take the shift. there needs to be an option for when people are sick so right away the shift is sent to other employees to take so management doesn’t need to approve it because if someone is sick they cannot come into work

When I Work - App Rating. I do mostly like this app. It makes managing my every changing schedule easy. That is so long as my managers properly manage on their end. Sometimes I have issues between locations as I work at a few different store locations. I suspect that this is not as much an app side problem as a management issue. The group chat feature is nice for communicating with other employees to cover shifts and relay important information. The time off request feature is also nice. The app does make my life easier and I appreciate that hard work it takes behind the scenes to maintain it.

Very multi-functional app! Great!. I run a small business w 5 employees but our schedule can change at any moment. This app allows me to notify employees in an instant and receive shift confirmations w out having to text each employee individually. Most of my employees are hourly so they can see how much their take home for the week is. They can also see how much PTO they have taken and have left. This app is very comprehensive. There a ton of features that I don’t use but if u are willing to pay the premium for them, they may be very useful. The basic functions for me are exactly wht I need.

Thorough but simple. I am a web designer and I test a lot of software. I can tell you that this is an excellent product. There are a lot of features but they have kept it easy to use. Even if you have employees who don't like technology, they will still get notifications via email or text. We are using it for our local community theater to help us schedule rehearsals for busy people. The tech support has been awesome which is very important to me.

Attendance needs work. I’m a huge fan of When I Work we recently started using the attendance app as well. However It takes me almost an hour every pay period to fix my staffs hours. When I work doesn’t offer any kind of automated rounding which would stop unintended overtime. Example an employee clocks in 3 minuets early and clocks in 4 minutes early from lunch and then 3 minuets late clocking out. So every day you have 10 minutes of overtime, that adds up to a huge amount of unintended and in un- authorized overtime. If they would provide an option for overtime rounding that is already approved by the labor department It would make processing payroll much quicker. Btw the law states under 8 minutes round down over 8 minuets round up. 8:03 gets rounded to 8:00 and 8:08 gets rounded to 8:15 Hopefully this gets addressed soon.

Best Time Clock App. I’ve used a couple different apps for clocking in and out, time sheet recording, availability etc… this is by far the best and easiest app I’ve ever had the pleasure of using. It allows me to adjust my times . I don’t normally use an app to clock in so getting used to it is still setting in. Sometimes I forget to clock out thoroughly so I can go in and adjust my time accordingly. Or if I forget to clock in, it’s the same deal. Just very user friendly. I highly recommend!!

Pretty User Friendly & Intuitive. We only use the feature where employees clock in & out on their own schedule, we don’t use shifts, so I can’t say how that part works. We have a mini resort with multiple businesses: a restaurant, bar/club, farm, and marina. I’d like there to be the possibility of seeing which employees are clocked in at any particular time on the app, but I can only see all the employees clocked in by business (which is called “schedule”), not all together. This feature is available on the website on a laptop. Otherwise, the app seems to work well for staff too.

Excellent Scheduling App. I couldn’t have ask for anything better, it has everything I needed from a scheduling app, and it does so much more. Pricing is the best. Just the right app for a new business with a few employees or a lot of employees. The best part is the simplicity of everything. Training for my employees was minimal. Notifications work great, as well. I rarely ever rate an app, but after trying a good amount of scheduling apps, I was able to see how When I Work is the best amongst them, even the ones on the top rank. Great job guys!!!

Simple Layout. I recently installed this app to keep track of my time at work. I clock in on here and on my time clock at the same exact time, brakes and clock outs also. I’ve had it for about 2 months now, and so far it has helped me show hours I worked that the time clock missed. Simple layout, easy to navigate through the app, notifications are a great add also, the app can notify you that it’s time to clock in, or if you forgot to clock out. It also has location clock in, you can set it to automatically clock you in as soon as you arrive at work. Great app!!!!!

Game changer!. I’m so happy I choose to go with this app. It’s made scheduling so much easier for myself and my employees. We can all access it from our phones, I can make changes from my phone which is so nice. I can post open shifts and the employees can swap shifts. It also tracks hours per employee so I don’t over schedule them & it tracks total hours per week so I can keep track of my budget. Give it a try. You’re going to love it!!

Easy to use. I like this app and think that it functions very well, however there are a few things that could use improvements. When you need coverage it shouldn't require you to swap a shift. It also wont let you clock in until 5 minutes before your shift which is vexing if you have to come in early as you have to manually change your time sheet. Lastly if your company has multiple locations the default setting isn't for all locations its for one which can cause missed shifts.

When I Work App. First, I LOVE that when the schedule is posted I have to confirm the shifts I am scheduled so that if there are any issues with any dates or times I can decline the shift & work directly with my manager to address the issue. You can also set up reminders for the days you work and timed alarms. I like being able to look at who I’m working with and if I need a day off the app shows me what crew members are available to possibly cover my shift. Lastly I like that I can send messages to any of my crew members by setting up a work chat. Great app and easy to maneuver through.

Great. With my job we only are able to use it to see our schedule that’s it.! Not for changing schedules or even requesting off we have to go online to our portals for those.! But it’s very good for what i use it for which is just to check my schedule.! I gave it four stars because i have it to remind me of my schedule through text i never get a text and i even have it to let me know when i get my new schedule it lets me know an entire day later after i checked the day before then it reminds me a day later.! Other than that it’s great for what i use it for.!

Horrible Customer Service. They never seem to care about the paying customers. If there is an issue, it’s never resolved. Today, Tiffany, the customer support representative was extremely unhelpful. They updated the software and some changes were made in the app. These changes result in more work for the customers and I made sure for alert their team. Tiffany gave me no helpful tools, no feeling of urgency, no sense of understanding how important that the change be reverted back to how the app has worked for years. No understanding of when the issue would be fixed. I was left with nothing but now feeling that due to this new update, I will have to do hours of new work each week. Horrible customer service, horrible app. Please fix asap.

Awesome app for scheduling and time card mgmt. App works great. Tech support is fantastic! Works well for both mobile app and desktop. Get a real person quickly when you have any questions. Much better system than what we have used in the past. Easy to make schedules, add employees, or process time cards for payroll. As owner, I also like being able to see who is clocked in and I like getting late attendance notices. Price seems fairly reasonable and in-line with the competition . But bang for buck I would highly recommend.

4.5 stars. This app is easy to use, navigate and use. I love getting notifications as well as emails of any changes made to my schedule. I love how I can see the entire month and every previous shift for myself and coworkers. I love how you can request time off weeks even months in advance it’s made it very convenient for reservists and vacations. Only thing I don’t like is you need to be careful when placing availability. In July I messed up the whole month and we couldn’t reset it so my manager had to set my schedule day by day.

Log Hours Changed. When I Work used to have the detailed summary when you clocked in/out and showed any extra notes you needed to add but now it seems after I updates it, it’s GONE. Only the summary of the total hours per week show, but I need the detailed summary. I also don’t like how I can’t change my availability anymore, and I feel like a burden having to text my boss’s personal phone about a work related topic. I do generally love this app and I choose it over many apps like this, such as HotSchedules. But pretty disappointed right now with these two being unavailable whenI know they used to be a feature on this app.

Love it. I never ever write reviews for anything, but I am taking the time to write this one because When I Work has made such an incredible difference at my workplace. I am never confused when it comes to scheduling, I can easily swap shifts with my coworkers because I can see when they work, and the app itself is so easy to use. I am a student doing lots of extracurriculars, and I love how I can reflect whenever I am unavailable on the app. Scheduling is usually always a pain, but When I Work developed the perfect solution.

5 Years, 5 Stars. I’ve been using this app as an employee for over five years and finally decided to leave a review. I really appreciate the integrated approach of having scheduling, time off requests, picking up shifts, and viewing my time sheet all in one app. So much better than the “solution” my previous job at a big corporation used, where I had a different login for each of those tasks and half of them only worked on the company network. I definitely recommend the When I Work app if you’re fortunate enough to have an employer who uses it!

Logged out, won’t let me log in?. Hi, I was just looking at an open shift then the app shut down and logged me out. I put in my email and password, which didn’t work (said one of them was wrong) so I pressed “reset password”. It sent me the email, but even after resetting the password it says that it is wrong. I need to be able to view. My schedule for next week so it would be great if anyone could help… Update: I was able to log back in, and got a response from the developer. Thank you!

Honest review. Just started using this app for my new job and as an employee it’s really easy to use and I’ve had no issues with it. Keep in mind i haven’t had to use a lot of the features this app provides other than confirming my shifts, looking at my schedule/who I’m scheduled with, and my total amount of hours for the week. Based on everything I encountered so far with this app I’m sure the other features are just as easy and convenient to learn. 5 stars from me :)

When I work. I actually chose my dates to work and times from those available on the When I Work computer site. This was a little Tedious on my computer but once i figured it out it went a little smoother. I don’t do email on my phone. So I can not speak to if that is easy or not using your phone to schedule. The phone app is very nice and easy for checking my schedule and the staff i am working with. I think much easier than the computer app. But then I do not have access to my computer all day, but I can peek on my phone. So it might have gotten easier if I continued accessing my schedule on my computer.

Ok, but extremely lacking.... My company just switched from HotSchedules to When I Work and it’s been interesting trying to adjust. For the most part I like it so far, it has some features that HotSchedules didn’t have and I think my discomfort with the layout of things will go away the more I get used to it. By far my biggest gripe with the app is with messaging. For one I am only able to message my supervisors and managers, not my fellow colleagues or general manager. Also when one of my managers sends out a message through When I Work it goes to my email. I don’t understand how there’s no centralized inbox for messages. The communication aspect is extremely lacking and so frustrating coming from an app that had this incredibly obvious feature.

Non user friendly. The app is not user friendly at all. It is nearly impossible to trade shifts with co-workers. The vacation request go to random managers rather that your assigned manger and they can make approvals when they don’t even work at the same site. I tried to petition vacation time on the app and had to simply give up and tell my manager in person because the app would not allow it. I have also tried making the schedule with my manager and it is extremely difficult to make changes to the schedule especially since every single change made has to be saved individually, if save is not selected at every single change then nothing is saved and hours of work never happened. This app is not user friendly at all.

When I work. Works great keeps your schedule accurate and on track. Also any updates get to you faster than your mana get trying to actually call you. Confirm or set your availability with ease. No issues on trying to figure out if there are any open or available shifts that were dropped or picked up. The app is very user friendly. I personally recommend it. I’m in the security field so it’s very handy. Also when you take a lunch it’s literally a press of a button to log it.

Well made UI but please add to widget page. The app is very high quality, no complaints whatsoever. This makes it very easy and organized for employers to schedule and employees to know about it. However I do see an extremely good but missed opportunity for this app. Developer if you see this, please please please make this app show the employees next shift in the widgets page on iPhone (the page all the way to the left). That would make the app soooo much better and would allow users to just swipe to the right to view what their next shift is whiteout even having to open their phone or the app. Please consider.

Great app overall. See title. Functionally very handy, and light years ahead of what my job was using before. My only complaint is it’s a tremendous pain trying to enter my schedule requests, when I scroll down to the date I want and the app decides to jump back to the current date. For some reason it only jumps forward, so if I entered availability requests on the 1st I’d be golden (but I can’t enter them until end of the month, so it happens every time). Also the app doesn’t update the year, but that’s probably an oversight. Took me three tries entering my January requests until I realized 2018 was still selected.

Fantastic app with one huge con. The cons are the fact that not just for me but my other co workers will send messages and sometimes they dont go through even if you send them several times. This is a huge factor considering if you’re running late or if you need to write necessary information sometimes you cannot contact your manager to let them know. That bug hasnt been fixed for well over a year. a smaller detail to add is the photo quality on this app is horrible so if you need to send a photo for whatever reason you wont be able to see it due to the quality. other than that this is a wonderful app and it works beautifully.

Easy to use, with some minor inconveniences. When I Work is a user-friendly app to keep track of my schedule. I can also look at when my colleagues are working. The only inconveniences I’ve noticed is that when I try to change the time on the start to end slots, the time will stay the same for the first couple of attempts. I also dislike how the app logs out rather quickly unless tended to within about 3 minutes of being inactive. Otherwise, I enjoy this app.

Gets worse with every update. This platform good for business with 25-30 employees. Anything above that and you will experience a really slow manipulation process. What use to take us about an hour to make a schedule, now takes us about 3-4 hours because of the lag. Also, they revived a really good feature. Before you were able to filter out employees by sites. For example if you selected 2 sites you would only see the employees scheduled for those two sites. Now you can only filter one site at a time, if you try 2 or more sites you now see even the employees that are not scheduled for the selected sites. We have been with this company for over 7 years, sorry to say we will have to consider moving to another platform.

Notifications are always late.. The problem I had been experiencing with notifications appearing the app several days late is fixed! Only change that I don't care for is that you now have to press a button to mark the notifications as read, as opposed to just opening the notifications tab. It's an extra click that feels unnecessary, but this is really such a small gripe. The notifications are MUCH better now!

When I Work Rating. I like the flexibility of choosing my hours and days and also seeing who else chose those same days. I do not like how management uses this process for their own agenda. Not opening spaces that should be open because they want personnel to sign up for weekends instead. I also don’t like how some nurses can see and sign up for many days and hours and others only have very limited open days available to them. This needs to be fair to ALL nurses, not the ones mgmt picks to grant or deny access.

Years of app alert issues. This app is the MOST important business tool I have. I don’t know how I would run my business without it. That said, it is the MOST frustrating thing in my life. I have used it since 2015 and have 90 part time employees on it. The app alerts are constantly an issue. I hear, “I have the app alerts on but didn’t a app notification” several times a week. I gave up on contacting customer support. What version of the app? What version of iOS? Can you delete the app and reinstall it? I’ve never had any missed notifications on ANY other app or had to delete ANY app and reinstall to get it to work. Please clean up the app alerts so they work reliably. Honestly I would pay more for the simplier version of the app from 3 years ago. It ran faster, crashed less and wasn’t as complicated for part time employees to grasp. Recently many of the employees are confused because filters are turning on without going in to the filter settings. Every week I get a screen shot “I don’t see my shifts”. I have to explain there is a red 1 in the top left which always leads to - “I didn’t turn on the filters”. I would increase the app rating with the alerts worked properly.

Wish it was better. I first suggested When I Work for my company because all the benefits, online and on the app, were the best I had seen. But the issues we have had the last several months have been infuriating. The app constantly force closes, freezes, has issues with the server or proxy, and in general can’t keep up. Also, email response from the team is great and for the most part timely, but when I have an issue it is sometimes easier to call as opposed to email and that has never been an option for us. We are currently shopping around for other apps that can handle our business needs, and as much as I don’t want to switch, I hope we find a solution so we don’t have to deal with the almost weekly crashes and issues we keep having.

Terrible App. DO NOT SIGN UP USING APPLE!! I’ve been trying to use this app to get my schedule for my new recent job and can’t even use the app. If I sign up through Apple using my Apple ID, I should be able to manually enter that email address to log in but I can’t!! It doesn’t even recognize that I made an account with that email. Tried doing “forgot password” then get an email saying there’s no account associated then I try and resign up using that SAME email address and it says there’s an account registered. No settings options in the app, can’t reset or delete account to start over, no account or profile view or anything if still pending from employer. May be better if you can actually get to use the app but other than that it’s been a hassle so far.

Highly Recommend. I am absolutely in love with the “when I work” app and its ideology. If more companies used the “when I work” system, there would be a lower turn-over rate. This system has been a dream send for me. I have been battling leukemia for 3 years now and if it wasn’t for the “when I work” system I am not sure that I would’ve been able to begin work again just a year into my chemotherapy. To have the ability and the privilege to choose my own schedule and hours as well as drop a shift if chemotherapy has me down is the only reason I was able to go back to work when I did. It’s kind of like being your own boss. The pressure to juggle life and work are alleviated making coming to work less dreadful and for someone like me, that’s everything! I absolutely love “when I work!”

Great, needs some work. Update: Overall works well, and chat loads quickly since an update. Thank you! Overall this app has been awesome for my job, the only issues I have is with the group chat. It takes forever to load them along with not sending messages at all. It’s very inconvenient as it’s just easier to text my coworkers/managers instead of bothering with the group chat. Sometimes notifications also do not come through. The group messaging needs and overall but besides that the app is awesome!

When I work. It’s a really good app, I’ve never used it before and had some trouble at first but! After some experimenting and playing around with it, it makes my work shifts so much easier. I can adjust my schedule, change shifts, drop or even swap them with my other coworkers. If I need to get in touch with anyone I don’t have to stress about not having anyone’s phone numbers it’s all in the app. It reminds me of discord a little bit so.. it’s cool.

Awesome app. This app is really great. It makes seeing my shifts & coworkers very easy. Unlike Slack or Homebase, it gives you shift reminders and tells you if you forgot to clock in/out. It is very user friendly as well. One thing that I don’t really like is how you can’t make yourself unavailable for a certain time in the day, only preference for a specific shift. If you can’t work a certain time, they want that whole day off. Otherwise, this is a great app for me to see when and with who I am working.

I like it but.... It’s a really great app. The design is simple and easy to use. It’s straightforward and it’s got a lot of features that are useful for both the employer and employee. The only improvement I would like to see with this app are the glitches. The company I work for says it’s normal and that the app freaks out sometimes. I understand that apps can bug out, but it gets frustrating when you’re looking for your schedule and hours. It’s important for me to be updated with my schedule daily, because my hours and shifts are quite erratic. Other than that, I’ve enjoyed using this app and recommend it.

Organized convenience. I love this app to keep up with my work schedule. The reminders for an upcoming shift are so helpful. It shows the total number of hours for the week, who you work with and now remembers of events and birthdays of coworkers. I also appreciate being able to see only my schedule for the week without having to search through each day. We used this for a while then they canceled it. I’m so glad the company I work for brought it back. It keeps me organized and is so convenient to have on my phone.

So incredibly EASY!!!. Clocking in and out, viewing, accepting, and changing schedules have literally NEVER been easier. I'm 40+ years old so, I've done a lot of clocking in over the years. It really can NOT get any easier than this. The only option I would like to have available is a paycheck stub tab available. We have a completely different app for our paycheck stubs. It would be great to have it all under one app. That's honestly the only thing I would suggest. The app is great with or without that option.

Alerts are constant, even if you try to turn them off. They're asking you CONSTANTLY, "Do you like using this app?" Of course I don't. Please be quiet and notify me as little as possible because this is how I clock into and out of work: nothing else. And STILL this app manages to be easily the most annoying app on my phone. The number of alerts is insane. Please make the app quieter. I ONLY need clock in / clock out reminders: that's it. Nothing else. I've tried to make it that way, but YOU WON'T let me. Constantly reminding me in my FREE time that I do in fact have to WORK. I hate this app with a passion. Also, they only offer you to write a review if you tell them you like the app. Curious.

Worth every penny!. We have only just started using this app a few weeks ago. But can already tell how valuable it will be the season! As a public golf course, we have dozens of seasonal employees and keeping the availability straight for all of the young workers we employ has always been a challenge. Plus the app is flexible enough to allow crossover of positions as many workers are trained in different to work in more than one area of the business. I used to spend days working on a schedule for the following week, and now I can put it in the hands of multiple people who can all work on the schedule the same time.

Great work app!. We’ve used this for our summer camp instructors. It works very well to schedule and see when instructors confirm to know all is good. The full site allows for easy scheduling of same shifts with colors the denote our different instructor jobs. The admin side is great as well when they’ve reached out to see we were in our off season to help us go into hibernating mode to save money then restart when our season does:) Thanks for an easy app to keep our employee work easy to understand for everyone to see all the time- Thanks!

Review of When i work. I was so impressed with this App in the beginning because it required minimum amount of pre employment process because of the need for the Covid vaccination to be given and I thought that was great but it’s really hard to book a shift I have been denied 20 times and Affiliated physicians turned off the availability part so the nurse is unable to put her availability I know it’s competitive but I don’t think that’s fair I’m a hard working nurse with many years experience but I don’t know any of the managers so I’m denied I am going back to finding a part time position that is secure instead of being denied each week

Great app for low cost/small business. I can’t speak to customer service, because we’ve never needed it. The paid upgrades make sense for our small business that has grown to 30+ employees. Scheduling/Time off/Availability functions work well. The mobile clock in and out could use some tuning up but otherwise fantastic solution to the aforementioned strengths. Would recommend for any small food service business!

feature. Good morning! My employer uses this app to do employee scheduling. I love the app because it is user friendly and easy to navigate. I would like to suggest a feature that would allow employees to delete their past time off requests. I have been with this company for 2 years and i have quite a few passed time off requests that i would love to be able to delete to clean it up a bit. I sure hope this is something that you can add to this app, if so then it would make this app perfect!

Don’t get this app.. I purchased this app for my business of 10 employees (I’m the owner) making 11 users including me (not an employee). The plan ask how many employees I have, I said 10. I’m paying $168 a year for 10 employees. Here’s the kicker, to add my tenth employee I have to pay $166 more because it counts me as an employee. On the plan it says unlimited users, at $1.40 per employee, don’t believe it!!! It’s in increments of 10 and you count as one! It’s not user friendly as well. The dashboard doesn’t give you a clear way of navigating the app. You have to dig around to find the employee list and if you need to make changes to an employee, you have to delete them then add them again. It is not worth the money. Use the Crew App, much better and easy to navigate.

Pretty good I’m still getting used to it. I can’t say it’s easier than paper. Setting up is a little rough but once you get used to it, it’s easier. I’m sure there’s an even easier way to use it but I’m still learning, i’m only a few months in. I wish it connected with Paycom. I won’t say that it’s easier than paper other than being able to post it. and within not being hooked to pay, I still have to go in and enter absences plates all of that stuff so it’s just an extra app to go onto right now.

Best scheduling system I’ve ever used. WhenIWork is great. All the options for viewing your own shifts, all shifts, open shifts - fantastic. Picking up and dropping shifts, easy. I saw another comment suggesting a group chat function - I would be so down for that. I also wish there was a feature to export your schedule to your calendar app. It would make my life a lot easier to just transfer my shifts over instead of manually inputting them or trying to consult them both and accidentally double booking myself.
