EVERYTHING IS BREAKING NEWS.. Uninstalled this app specifically due to the fact that every time an eyebrow was lifted in the Holly Bobo murder trial, it was classified as BREAKING NEWS and thus immediately pushing a notification to my phone. I would literally get a notification about that trial every hour for over a week. Nobody cares. Classify your news appropriately.

Channel 5 News App.. It is fast loading with a well thought out page that gives you all the latest news in a very easy page to find it.

News 5 app. I enjoy the ability to keep up on local news for middle TN. I also like to keep up on the local weather. The only thing that I find an issue is that weekend weather is not current or updated like weekdays.

A Kentucky girl. This Kentucky girl loves channel 5..it’s where I go for news and weather.. I never miss them unless I a good reason. I use this app for the headlines and stories when I miss the real thing and I can stream it all when I get back home..but the app lets me know what is going on until I can watch it at home..there’s not a weather person on any of the other channels like Bree Smith..she takes the time to explain what is going on and what we can expect from it..I love this app to keep me updated on what is going on..

Logic wrong. Tonight’s stories. First - opening stage 3. Next - COVID 19 cases in area on the rise! Does that seem wrong?! If cases are on the rise, pull in and self quarantine. And for heaven’s sake, don’t depend on the government to tell you what to think and do!

Perfect!!!. The only news station I turn to!!! It’s our go to weather station here in Cookeville Tn. It’s the station we watch every night and morning. Thanks for being there!!!!!

Outdated News. This app is consistently behind in releasing news. Each time I open the app the same news from a day or two days ago is still there & that days news is nonexistent. Rarely current. Although I do love the channel 5 TV news this app has faltered. If it continues to lag behind I plan to ditch the app for one of the other local news stations. Prove me wrong

Good content. Lacks editing at times.. The app is very easy to access and works well consistently. I use it on a daily basis. Sometimes the articles have an embarrassing amount of typos, but overall quality app.

Only One Thing to Improve. I love News Channel 5! In twenty two years, I have seen only one story that was poorly handled. That one piece was based on a parent's account of a school employee mistreating her child. The person she accused is one of the three most amazing teachers I have worked with in my forty-seven years. Other than that situation, you are on point! You approach us openly, professionally, and in the most confidential manner possible. Many of you are aware that a number of us are occasionally physically and verbally assaulted by children, as was the person covered in the referenced story, usually students whom we recognized as needing a great deal of help. We always tried very hard to involve the families, the school, and outside professionals, as well. After all, as you know, every child deserves a proactive TEAM approach...socially, emotionally, and academically!

Kudos!. We prefer NC5 to both our local coverages on TV and by App! Even with the coverage of news targeting our communities this Station provides much more information, quicker and more accurately. The teams are professional, enjoyable, believable and almost always right! It’s a pleasure to watch. Thank each and every one of you for your professionalism!

False claims. 1 star because they said it was supposed to snow and I was going to a concert for my birthday and I didn’t get the tickets because they said it was supposed to snow and now I’m not doing anything for my birthday and my whole birthday is ruined

Best Station. News channel 5 is the best station hands down! I would not watch any other station!!

Video is horrendous. I have been trying to keep up with the Virus by watching the mayors briefing everyday and I have to say your video streaming service both on the website and app is almost unusable constantly freezing and buffering. I will probably be going to a competing news crew soon.

Skip if on an older iOS device. This guess this is what happens when you outsource an app to India. The app is not optimize for older devices. And there are no other features to the radar other than what happened 30 minutes ago. I guess they want you to watch the actual broadcast so they can scare the hell out of you with their 24/7 doom and gloom weather reports.

Smaller font, please. At the current font size, headlines partially display about 25 characters. I'd be more inclined to reading articles if I could see the full headline at a glance.

Can’t zoom in on pics.. still love the app. Only reason I’m giving them 4 stars is because it is so frustrating that I can’t zoom in on the pictures that are on top of the story.... if they would fix that one little thing I would go from 4 star to 5 star... other then not being able to zoom in on pics the app is wonderful and always on top of the news stories. All in all this app probably does deserve 5 stars but I’m hoping this not being a 5 stars review that they will see it and fix this one simple fix and be able to zoom in on the pics.. it just frustrates me not being able to zoom in and read what’s on the page like when the hackers hacked Murfreesboro water dept I want to be able to zoom in and read what it says and be able to see it myself! Thanks news channel 5 keep up the great work and fix this minor issue!

Family. Channel 5 has been the choice of my family to watch since I was a little girl. I’m 63 now and Channel 5 is still my choice. It’s like family. Good people reporting the news, whether it’s good or bad. It’s my choice to receive the news of the day, local, international. Sports, politics and entertainment. Don’t forget the weather. Their coverage is superb. Informational consumer topics. Local news covering the Channel 5 viewing area and surrounding counties. News Channel 5 is my choice and I’m sticking with it.

App is garbage. We're under a tornado warning right now near robertson county and the tv is out so we tried to keep up with the status of the warning and it showed a bunch of commercials and then said we'll be right back like us on facebook... and they never returned. Thanks news channell 5!!!

Notifications not working. Notifications don’t seem to be working at all.

Quick information. I like this app ability to keep me informed when I don’t have time to catch the local news it also allows me to go to their investigation section and find out about people who Phil Williams or one of the many reporters have uncovered some of our politicians or just everyday people who violate our laws, and most stories have led to criminal prosecution. On this app you get more information then the actual newscast with links to document that their newscasts just doesn’t have time to show also we now have winter tornados becoming common more than snow and their weather app is a must have I’ve installed this app on my iPad, desktop and cellphone I’m a native of Nashville so if I’m not able to tune into the live newscast this app is most effective.

Don’t care for constant requests for money. I like the app the news coverage but the recent change to having a pop up ask me to pay for enhanced content every time I load the app is annoying. I now rarely use the app. I understand you have to make money but having to say no every time I open the app is not annoying me into paying, it’s annoyed me into almost never using.

Great Station. I've relied on News Channel 5 all my life. I'm 47 & I grew up watching Chris Clark as a kid with my family. I live across the line in Ky but have always relied on channel 5 for the most accurate & up to date weather & news. You guys do such a great job! I would just like to ask if you could please fix the interactive radar to be more user friendly. That's all! Thanks for all the hard work!

So far so good (will update). The items & stories that I've clicked on have worked very well. I haven't explored every item on the app at thistle time. For local news at any time the News Channel 5 app is great. Once while I was traveling it became very valuable. I was almost 3/4 of the US away from Nashville and was still able to follow a story that kept unfolding not only daily; but, hourly. Newschannel 5 informed, protected, and prepared me before I arrived back to my home ! After having the app installed for about a year or so I have found that on occasion the app alerts can sometimes get annoying. I just filtered them down a bit and I am still I’m h; but overall, News Channel 5 still ROCKS! Thank you News Channel 5!💯❤️

App Crashes. The app freezes up after closing each story. I have to reopen the app each time I want to read the next article. This has been ongoing for some time. I’ve been waiting for an update to correct the issue; however, it’s still ongoing.

Love weather with Leland Statom. I love this channel however; people just can’t spell well anymore. Just saw story about TN SAILOR killed and sailor was misspelled. No one seems to proofread but not just this station. I love Leland though. Great meteorologist and so pleasant.

Could be soooo much better. Now I remember why i deleted this app the first time. I expect a much better app from such a highly rated news cast. First, turn off the ad at the top of the screen. Second, allow user to set which notifications received for weather, news, sports, etc. I only want weather alerts. I don't need, nor want, every little thing that happens to pop up as a news alert ten times a day. At least, allow me to turn that off and still get weather alerts. I am deleting app again.

Ok but could be better. It is better than ch 4's app but there is a lot of news that doesn't get posted. I like the radar. It seems like almost real time. So I give it 3 stars because they could do better with the news posting. The AP app is the best news app out there. Even for local coverage. Matter of fact, I think that's where these guys get the news.

New NC5 App. I have followed News Channel 5 for years and when I purchased my iPad I was excited to download the App. I loved the old App and had no concerns when I downloaded the recent upgrade.....that is until I opened it. This upgrade is horrible!!!!! Things are hard to find and it is terribly slow, especially the weather info. I am deleting this app and moving to a different online station. If you take a look at your reviews you will see that everyone else hates it too! If your online viewers mean anything to you, you will get rid of this piece of garbage! P.S. I am only rating 1 star and wouldn't even do that if I didn't have to in order for you to get my comments!!!!!

Terrible app. This app looks like it’s first version. Nothing exciting about the news. Looks very plain. It has only basic headlines. I’m sure Facebook news is much more informative. Get a new app designer.

Nice job, but waaaay too many alerts!. I especially like the videos, and the gas price information. Also, this app has MUCH more content than WSMV, such as local movie listings and flight information. Unfortunately the same news stories repeat in as many as 3 different sections on the same page! So for example, the same headline might appear in Breaking News AND Top Stories AND Local News, all on the first screen. Also, the audio quality in the videos is not very clear, as compared to WSMV's app. No landscape view on this app, but I like the weather information that shows in the header. A plus is the ability to share a news article. WSMV does not do this. I'd purchase this app if it would remove the newly placed banned ads. Many of the alerts aren't breaking news, so that makes the app seem less relevant.

Mediocre app, worse new reporting. First off, this app is rather buggy. It is slow to load, pops up large adds, and worst of all, keeps making my iphone 4 crash. Also, news channel 5 is really not a good news source anyway. In the "news" section there is lots of annoying sports stories and and pop culture garbage. NC5 is the first one to bring up distracting and often irrelevant information such as race, and the last one to give real facts. Also, their habit of inserting "alleged" in front of any allegation that does not fit their agenda is aggravating. Not to mention their comments section are simply a group of trolls, most notably "bob cole". Do yourself a favor, download WKRN, or if you still want to read nc5, use the website.

Sound!!!. There’s a bug in the app that when you try messing with the audio it gets muted. So no matter what one does it automatically mutes the app’s audio. Please resolve this issue. Love this app and local station. It’s my go to!!! Thanks

Very Biased. News 5 is very biased and doesn’t provide the truth. They also can not spell anything right.

Awful.. This used to be a good app. It has become less useful and more difficult to use with each revision. Now when you click on "Read more" to read the story it places a preview of the video over the text you are trying to read. The preview moves up and down the page as you scroll the text and prevents you from reading the story in an in your face effort to make you watch the video. And I don't like the "Trending" stuff. People want local news and weather. The weather displays so small you can't see it.

New version is Horrible. This new version of the NC5 app is terrible. The pages are hard to navigate and hard to read. Way too many ads and trash on the screen to sort thru to be able to read the actual content. Do us all a favor and ditch some of the ads. I often can't get the weather to load at all either. The app won't load the forecast or the radar more often than it actually works. Poor poor app in its current version.

Why mess with a great app???. My husband and i are loyal channel 5 viewers. We loved the easy to manage app you had before. This new app is TERRIBLE. If we wanted to go to a website, not to mention one this is hard to maneuver and doesn't load, we would go to the browser!!!! Why would you even change it? It was great the way it was. Now we have to try out the other news station apps to get what you had before. We love news channel 5, but go back to the old app!!!

The app is as good as trash!!. Since the app update, I've had nothing but problems. You can't read the stories without the app crashing. It sends me breaking news 3-5 times a day and when I open the app to read it one of two things occur: 1) it goes to load the story and crashes or 2) the story isn't even on the main page when it just notified me if breaking news 3 min ago. I loved the old version. This new version is garbage. If NC5 is trying to be cheap and cut corners on the app, they did it with this version.

It's time for a change.. News channel 5 had been our source for news now over fifteen years. But after waiting for months for this new rendition of their iOS app to be fixed but seeing no apparent effort to make corrections, we will be using Nashville's channel 4 or channel 2. Both in our opinion are far superior at this time. Our faithfulness to channel 5 has been because they were constantly on the cutting edge. We are not seeing this as of late. Are you listening channel 5? Too late for us however.

Notification Issues. Your notifications never stick under notifications section on iOS devices. It only shows up one time on the unlock screen and then you never see them again. So after you unlock your phone you will lose all notifications from News Channel 5. Fix this! WSMV notifications stick in my notifications area.

Awful Version. I love Channel 5 news & the old app. This new version is awful. It won't load properly, difficult to navigate & what used to be the best weather app is now the worst. I have to tap a news headline at least three times before I can view the story. And if it's breaking news, you can forget that a story will be available. I just spent over 5 minutes trying to find the current conditions & it kept bringing me back to yesterday's forecast. I miss the old app, especially the weather portion.

STILL! Worst. App. Ever.. Don't be fooled by their trickery. It's still the same... If you want to see an example of how a news app is SUPPOSED to work, just download WKRN News2. They are now my go-to app after NewsChannel5 screwed the pooch on this. Somehow, after FOUR tries via "updates" the developers have actually made it WORSE each time. This whole debacle started because of what (supposedly) their feedback was of what we (their customers) wanted. Why aren't they listening to our REAL feedback??!!? See ya later, WTVF... I'm not even gonna miss ya.

News Channel 5 is only hurting themselves.. It's been really sad to see my favorite news network here in Nashville fall from grace but it did, it sure did. Ever since they have changed the look of their website and app to the awful cluttered and distracting design it is now, I have stopped using them. This app is slow as is there website and I pray someone from the network sees this because they don't care to respond to my emails. Whatever this JRN company is clearly is drowning news channel 5.

You should be ashamed.... Wow! Something this bad isn't developed on accident. I'm not sure who developed this app for you, but I think they were trying to sabotage NewsChannel5. Furthermore, whoever approved this new version of the app obviously hates their job. The only reason I haven't deleted this is because I like to look at it whenever I'm feeling discouraged or badly about myself. It reminds me that there's hope if someone is out there, blatantly, doing worse than me, and they made it to the App Store

Worst news app in Nashville. Thank goodness there are 3 other choices for News Apps in Nashville. While I prefer Channel 5's reporting over the others, their app is awful. It is slow to load, hard to maneuver through, and it won't let you read a story without answering some ridiculous survey question via an advertising. I will be taking this app off my phone and relying on the other local stations to check the news when I'm on the go. So long Channel 5.

Crashes. This app crashes so many times. It crashes 3 times before I could even look at the weather.

Improved so much. I have used your app for a very long time now. They finally have made it work really well. I do want to ask all local stations WHY during severe weather ads are placed in weather streams. Seconds count and yet we have to watch an ad first? Seriously? Other than that I really like the improvements made to the news sections.

Why should I answer a survey just read a story?. Channel 5 has been my go to station for years, and now that I'm living in another state I must rely on the app for news from home. That was all well and good until now. Every story I select either demands I take a survey to read the story or I'm only met with an advertisement and no story! Prior to this review I attempted to directly contact them through the app but absolutely 0 information pops up, only a contact us title. As a result of this my frustration outweighs my need to use this app so until an update is released I will NOT be using this app anymore.

Great way to burn up data.. Having to scroll through who knows how many other stories to get what I want to see is a long frustrating process. It was not like that a year ago. I've started keeping the app on my last page because it's my last resort now. I switched to ch 4's app but still watch ch 5 news. Unfortunately that's how bad this app is now. I hope they change the format. Ch 4 also has a separate app just for the weather radar. I can't understand why the no. 1 station could be so far behind.

Just me. Rating is for this app ... Faster than other local stations. Articles are clear and concise and seem to contain more fact and little speculation (unlike other local stations). The articles are presented like in a new paper and the fonts are easy to read.

This app is awful!!!!!!. I don't normally give reviews, but in this case I feel it's necessary. I used to constantly be on the News Channel 5 app, but since it has been changed it is absolutely HORRIBLE!!! Most of the time it will not open and if it does open, it is virtually of no use because it is so hard to navigate through. I honestly do not understand why it was changed. I have always loved channel 5, but when I am finished with this review, I will be deleting this app and installing another local news app. This app doesn't do anyone any good if you can't get any information from it. Whoever designed this app did a horrific job.

Terrible. I've had this app for over 3 years and just deleted it about 10 minutes ago. The new format is awful. It's not only unpleasant to look at, but it's not really functional either. The headlines are too big for the screen - huge pictures that you have to scroll through between endless advertisements. When you click on one it redirects you to a web page to read the story. For some reason the same few stories repeat over and over. Blah. I downloaded the app for Channel 2 even though I don't even watch their news. I would definitely recommend doing the same. It is a 400% improvement from this train wreck.

Disappointed. Watch the actual channel or look up online. Don't waste your data on this app. The old one was great and this one is terrible. The developers don't take the complaints seriously so don't take them seriously. Move on to something else until channel 5 fires the lame developers and get good ones. Check out the stars. I'm by no means alone. If you complain don't let it be buried behind a new update of the same crap. Renew it until the change it.

Complete Disaster!. WTVF used to have the best local news app for Nashville. The weather radar was awesome. The news was easy to navigate. That is why the new app is so disappointing. I was hoping that this update would have some improvements but it actually seems worse for me. One star is more than this app deserves. It seems even slower now. (I know that seems impossible.) I give up on most stories before they can load. The heading loads and the ad loads but sometimes it takes a minute for the story to load. I'm not waiting that long. And when the story loads, if there is a full screen picture it is half covered with ads. I wanted to see a picture of a rescued dog but regardless of how I held my iPad, the ad covered the right half of the picture. And the weather radar has to ask me twice every time if I want my current location displayed. I could go on and on about the problems with this app. If customer reviews mean anything to WTVF then some major changes should be made.

Love Channel 5. I love the app and news channel 5, my issues are the same as others, you get a notification and the story is not there. I don't always have time to go back and retread. Also I have had issues with not getting the notifications even though no settings have changed other than an update and it takes for ever to start working again

Horrible app. It was great on the old platform. This app is terrible. I loved the app before when it was on the old platform a few years ago. I absolutely hate this one. I don't know a single person that likes this news app. Most of the people I know have went with your competition. Please go back with the old developer because obviously this one is terrible. The app is hard to navigate. It crashes randomly and it's menu on the top left doesn't work most of the time and just opens the same exact page in one of those web page looking frames. This is pathetic. I wish I could give negative stars.

Easier just to go to website. Please bring the old version back. I waited to review hoping the new site would be updated, but instead it just remains a downgrade. On a positive note, the push notifications are great, in that they let me know when to check competing apps for breaking news. If nothing changes, this app will be gone as soon as I need the space. Ashame they force you to pick at least one star as my real rating would be zero.

Terrible! 4.9.5 is almost unusable on iPhone.. Previous version you could flip thru all the latest news stories in a half hour and easily see when they were posted. You could use left and right arrows at bottom and skip a story you were not interested in. New version you can't tell where you are or have been so some stories might be missed. As it is now, I'll probably delete this app. I used to read all the latest news at lunch. Now I guess I'll find some other app.

Love channel 5. We have watched the wonderful channel 5 news since my daughter and I moved here almost 13 years ago. We checked out other channels, but because we loved Lelan, Steve, Amy right away. We miss David so much!! Loved him too!! We hope he is doing well. I love Ron and all the rest too. The very best Channel ever!!

Disappointing. I was starting to think that my phone wasn't working properly until I read the reviews. The old app was very easy to navigate and when you clicked on a link... Like weather, it actually took you to THAT link. It makes me incredibly sad that the new app isn't what it could or should be. Channel 5 has been my go to station my entire life! I'm terrified and fascinated with weather so I feel like I know the weather team personally... And kind of feel like one of them (my friends and family get a good laugh at me sometimes ;) ). Basically the moral If this story is, this app is disappointing because it is a sorry excuse for a news app from the best news station in Middle Tennessee.

Not a Fan. The new update makes the app crash a lot or not even load at all. The interface is not nearly as user friendly as it used to be. We don't need pop up windows for every news link. A simple "back" button, like there used to be, does the job just fine. There have been a lot of times when I scroll through the news on the home screen and the same stuff repeats. I don't understand why the home screen for the app shows weather alerts in red but won't let you tap on it to see what they are. Then when I go to "Alerts" under weather it shows everyone's forecasts they've done instead of the actual alert. I don't really care about their forecast if there's an alert I need to know about. Also, there have been several perfectly sunny days and it shows 7 alerts, 5 alerts, etc. (Weather Channel app had no alerts). I'm also at a loss as to why the app can't just say one alert or two alerts if there's a severe thunderstorm warning and a flash flood advisory. The other day when all those storms rolled through I looked at the app and it showed 43 Alerts!! That's excessive. In a nutshell I've been straying away from y'all's app since the update more and more and instead use the Weather Channel app for my weather and other news outlets for local. Another update could not come sooner for this app. At least another update that addresses the issues accordingly and makes the interface more user friendly.
