ASL Bloom - Sign Language Comments & Reviews 2026

So far so good!. I have been thinking a lot about learning ASL due to being completely deaf in my left ear and at risk of possibly going deaf in my right. I was apprehensive since it'd make the reality that I could go completely deaf and not understand how to communicate if I didn't learn. But when I saw that my 9-month old nephew was being taught and UNDERSTANDING, it motivated me to try! So far, really nice layout and I love the way they teach you with repetition, deep explanation, and overall they're friendliness to those new to ASL! Highly recommend to beginners like me and to those who are really apprehensive on trying ASL.

This really helped ME!!!. When I First got this app I was alittle sceptical, but after using it for a few minutes IT WAS AMAzING! It helped me learn so much sign language 👄💬. I tried so many apps and this one was #1 absolutely! It had quizzes, videos, conversations, and more! Using this app I can now have conversations in sign language, and impress my family and friends; I completely recommend this app to anyone, it makes learning a new language super fun!

Awesome!!. I know a little bit of sign language because my Aunt and younger brother are deaf, so the first few lessons I knew most of the stuff! It’s awesome because the first couple lessons are things you would use daily (I believe). I downloaded this app to help me learn more sign language because I’d like to communicate with people who sign, I used to work at McDonald’s and a few people would come in and sign “Thank you” when they were finished ordering and I’d sign “you’re welcome” back, but I always wished I could have a full conversation with someone who signed, so I’m hoping this app helps!!!

great app. i’ve been using this app for a few days now and it’s life changing. learning asl is just like learning a new language (for example: Spanish, Japanese, and Russian) it’s just as important as the listed languages. as a 11 year old myself, i’ve never been so excited to learn a language. plus, it’s VERY easy to learn and i encourage everyone to give asl a try. no complaints so far. without any purchases made on the app, it still teaches me quality asl even if i do pay extra money. it’s not a stupid scam where they do nothing until you do a monthly payment. that’s why i love this app so much! please remember, if i can learn it… so can you!

Easy for beginners. I knew some of the alphabet in sign language. This is taken my skills to somewhere I didn’t think I could be. I have a difficult time remembering and understanding signs. This app has made it so easy. I feel like I be able communicate with the people I work with that are unable to hear. I’m so glad someone would is unable to hear showed me the app. All I said was I would love to learn how to sign, and now a day later I can sign a few things here and there. I can’t wait to learn more.

Learning. I’d like to say I rarely rate apps, however the quality of this app for learning ASL is phenomenal, I think it is well made, not too complicated or too simplistic to where it’s overly boring. I wanted to get back into learning again but some apps had a multitude of Ads or only let you learn certain lessons and then you’d have to return again another time which made me lose the focus of my learning. I really think anyone who’s interested in learning ASL should download this app immediately!!😁🙏

Easy to follow!. I’ve tried a few apps/online videos to learn ASL in the past but never felt like I made any real progress or gained anything significant/practical. The layout of this app is way better than anything I’ve used before. Rather than just common words it gets into full phrases fairly quickly that you can actually put to use & shows dialogue between multiple people. Pleasantly surprised at how much I like this app already!

Great so far. I decided to take up learning ASL because I would love to be able to understand and communicate with people I know, or meet who are HOH, and so far I’m loving the app, I only wish they would explain the movement a little. The immersion is nice but you only get to watch them preform the sign as you learn, there’s no written instructions. Like there’s a video that shows you what to do, but no instructions or notes saying for example, “thumb placed on the outside of the pointer.” Or something along those line. Otherwise it’s nice, you can replay the clip as much as you need, the mechanics are simple and clean looking, it’s just that a little more instruction would be nice!

Always wanted to. So I have a feeling I will need to communicate with ASL soon and I wanted to make sure I am ready. I always used apps to learn but I always got discouraged. This app is unique because it makes it feel like your learning is personalized for you and that someone is with you in this process. The learning sometimes takes place in a chat feature. Where you see the image first and what it means so you can focus on the signs. I have improved significantly

Wow!. My son and I are both a bit hard of hearing. We started with learning baby sign language. But we didn’t have a lot of signs to work with or know anything about ASL grammar. A new little boy started at my son’s daycare who is deaf and I realized we really couldn’t communicate with him or his parent. So I found ASL Bloom! I even referred this app to my son’s daycare so that everyone can communicate with the new family. It’s AMAZING! It’s very, very easy to learn. And I’ve found my son and I retaining the material and using it very successfully. I just got this app a few weeks ago and it’s already made a huge difference!

I honestly love this app!. This app has been of tremendous help to me. I've been trying to learn for fun, and I've always wanted to learn American Sign Language, especially if I meet someone who speaks ASL. I appreciate that the app allows you to learn at different paces and play the lessons at various speeds. It's also great how it offers a lot even for those who use the app for free, and it's certainly worth it if you go premium. I love the diversity in learning methods and the different instructors available. I highly recommend this app, you should definitely give it a try.

This app is great!!!. Okay, so I took asl for a couple years and I was feeling bad about forgetting some things and I saw this app so I was like “what the heck, why not?” So I downloaded it and started immediately. And as of right now I know all the signs already but it’s a good refresher and it also shows that different people from different place sign differently kinda like an accent for vocal languages. If you’re a beginner looking to learn then this app is great for all that. And it’s also super encouraging and easy. There is a lot of repetition which is great for just learning so if you really want to learn asl get this app I absolutely recommend it 1000%.

One of my favorite apps. This app has been so helpful. My boyfriend and I made a promise to each other and ourselves that we’d learn a new language. He picked Spanish and I chose ASL. WOW HAS THIS APP BEEN AMAZING. I’m not at the point I can hold a full conversation yet but I feel rather comfortable with the words I do know. They gave me knowledge to at least try and see if I can follow a conversation without necessarily knowing the exact signs they’re signing. It’s been a great experience

Good app but HORRIBLE glitch. Also needs improvements.. I downloaded this app to learn some sign, it was pretty good, until i encountered this stuff. First is sometimes only one sign teacher does a specific sign. This makes it easy when they ask, “what’s this sign” and you immediately know cause that teacher did that sign. I am really happy that there’s no paid ads, but it’s pretty annoying every lesson you get a, “you’re doing super well! Upgrade to premium now” ad. Then there’s the horrible glitch. When I did the 1-3 chapters it was fine. Then I tried to click, “start new lesson Manners!” But it immediately put me to colors, which I had unlocked but was still 2 chapters away and didn’t wanna start it yet. Did I mention I already finished manners but it said I didn’t and wouldn’t go away from my “start new lessons?” I finally just did that one lesson on colors and after I went to a new chapter that I just unlocked and DIDNT wanna start yet?! Also it doesn’t tell you what lesson you’re on which is pretty annoying. I don’t wanna delete the app cause I’ll loose my progress but I can’t finish all my other lessons!

Five stars. I’ve always been sad Duolingo didn’t have any sign languages. I really wanted to learn ASL but didn’t know how or where, and didn’t think there was any good way to do it for free. I asked a few deaf people if they knew any place to learn sign language online for free and they all recommended this. Absolutely amazing and my experience with it has been better then any experiences with Duolingo. Also, love that all the makers are actually deaf. Thank you!!

So thrilled to finally find a good app to help me advance my ASL skills! And it’s free!!!!. I’ve looked for an app similar to Duolingo to help me with improve my ASL skills. There is a paid subscription if you want, but the app itself and basic version is free and so great so far. I’m beyond thrilled! Thank you for this app, ASL is such a beautiful and important language, and finding free and convenient resources for people who are really busy has been a challenge. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for!

Satisfied. It takes a lot to keep me going on something or stay with it. This app is the best one by far when it comes to learning ASL. I work with two deaf people and we have so much fun I just wish I could talk to them. With this app, I can do that. I like how you can go your own pace and replay it as many times as you want. I’m excited to use it everyday. I’m going to pay for the premium once I get paid! This is something worth paying for. You don’t NEED to, BUT if you want the best results and know more I say do it! I am! 😊😊

An amazing app!. This app is amazing if you want to learn ASL. It does a great job of teaching you accurate signs and facial expressions. It constantly reminds you of the signs so they get really embedded into your head and you remember them with ease. I am a fast learner but if you aren’t it gives you many opportunities to catch up by asking you questions and letting you repeat lessons and in the chats they’ll ask if you are comfortable with the progress you’ve made or if you need to review it more. This is overall a great app and it really has helped me make a ton of progress over the short time i’ve used it so far and i plan to keep using it for a long time!

This is awesome!. I’m so excited to learn more ASL, and I am! It’s a super cool app. The only problem, at least for me, is I think you have to buy some lessons. As a 17 year old student with no job or even a bank account (I’m to busy), buying lessons is almost impossible. There’s no schools in my district that teach ASL so I don’t really have other places to go for free lessons. In order to pay this apps employees, a replacement for straight up paying for lessons could be doing ads for the more complex lessons. This would make learning ASL easier for everyone!

It’s very informative. I always like to learn sign language because out of curiosity plus I worked with people who had trouble understanding. I never learned it while I was with them , but I always wanted too. I’m also a slow learner so it’s difficult for me to retain it. I’m going over and over it as long as I can remember them. I don’t have anyone to talk to but that won’t discourage me from learning and you don’t get ads that’s the good thing about it also you don’t have to pay to take the ads away. Thank God for that.

Couldn’t be better!. I used to work in customer service and would occasionally have HOH or deaf customers, and I knew a little bit a sign to be able to ask what they needed, or to say thank you, that simple type of stuff, but never to really enough to have a conversation with the person and it always made me feel so guilty. I think ASL should be taught in schools but until we get to that point this app is incredible, it reminds me a lot of Duolingo, super easy to use and has clear representations of whats being signed. I very much have been enjoying it and I’ve been sharing it with my friends and family who also want to learn ASL. I just want to also add, I love the fact that the instructors are deaf or HOH!

Very nice. I have lost half of my hearing in my left ear. I’m still young and fear I will lose the rest of my hearing through the years, so I want to know ASL. I also work in retail and there are many non hearing customers whom I cannot communicate with without playing charades. I want to be able to properly communicate with those customers, and anyone non hearing or non vocal! This app is perfect; I’ve only had it for two days and I’ve learned so many greetings and questions! I highly recommend it!

Easy to understand. I have a really hard time understanding a lot of things. But I am catching onto this pretty easily, and I’m not having issues understanding. My son is autistic and signing really helps with his verbalizing. Before we started signing, he wouldn’t speak at all. We learned a few things but then his speech took off. He’s hit a roadblock, so I’m really hoping that I can learn to teach him so that way we can better communicate with each other. I’m really grateful for this and it’s actually fairly cheap. We don’t like to spend money but we both agreed that for only eight dollars a month it’s worth it ♥️

10/10 recommend. I’m writing my very first review cause that’s how much I LOVE this app!! So easy to use. I love the flash cards and quiz features. I can’t believe how much I’ve learned already and for the first time after YEARS of trying to learn ASL on my own, the information is actually sticking. I can not recommend it this app enough. Yes $100 for a years use was a choice but if you’re actually serious about wanting to learn- it’s completely worth the money.

Great app but not affordable for many. I think this is a great app and I support paying the developers and teachers for their work. But I also strongly believe learning a language should be more accessible to people and there are ways to do that while also getting paid. I think they should either introduce a monthly payment option and/or a free with ads version. I would support either of those options. But $100 per year as the cheapest option is… a bit much for most people. I feel like they could get a lot more users (and, therefore, money) if they tweaked their pricing. As an app itself, though, I have no complaints.

So helpful!!. This app has been so helpful for learning ASL. I wanted to learn because I follow some deaf creators on TikTok and know how hard their struggles are. Of course, I don’t really know because I am not deaf, but I understand that they felt left out in some sort and don’t feel like they belong. I think learning ASL will be very helpful going forth, and I hope others will do the same. I hope I can make others feel included and understood.

Incredibly thorough and engaging. I usually don’t rate apps, but I think this app could really be helpful in teaching people ASL. It’s incredibly user friendly, the graphics are simple but appealing, and I feel the lessons are ordered in an optimal way. I haven’t run into any problems with only only being able to use the app unless I pay, which I really appreciate. I hope it stays this way, but good apps need people to fund it in some way. Hope more people find and use this app!

This is a great app. This app doesn’t have hearts like Duolingo but has a daily streak and doesn’t make you correct your mistakes at the end word by word. It instead sneaks it into the lesson to help you learn and grow! This app shows real life conversations in video form first so you can see what it would look like, then breaks it down bit by bit. If it’s too fast for you then you can slow it down. If you keep getting things right then you can get a correction streak! So far there aren’t any leagues or any competitions that you have to deal with and worry about! Take learning at your pace for FREE!!! Greatest app! Would recommend for the deaf community even for people who need to learn it for work or curiosity reasons. Download it now!!!

Really Great!. Super great app that is accessible to everyone! You have the choice to use it free or pay a premium subscription for extra content. These payments help keep the app going! This is perfect for me to brush up on my ASL that has become a little rusty. It’s important because I will need to be using it in my career. I love how the lessons are set up with video and chat. I have always tried using online ASL dictionaries but they never really helped me to gain better grammar skills. I’m thankful to have discovered this app!

Love the app but this glitch is just ANNOYING.. I’ve been wanting to learn ASL for the longest time so I downloaded this app to help me, it was good until I got to the category “Alphabet M-Z” The first lesson on there called Fingerspelling Tips was glitched and when I tried to get past the 5 parameters part, clicked next, it kicked me out the app. I thought it was just a random glitch so I did the rest of the lessons in that category. When I finished I went back to the lesson but it kept kicking me out. I even tried going through browser but that didn’t even let me click the next button and just froze. I don’t know if this is supposed to happen but if it’s not please fix it.

Amazing! But there is room for improvement!. I absolutely love this app. I took one college class for ASL and I mainly downloaded this app to practice and make sure I don’t forget what I learned and also to learn more vocabulary. I was really excited to see the Work Bank Search function! But I was a bit disappointed to find out there aren’t many signs available in the word bank :(. The idea is amazing and I hope they add more vocabulary soon! Also, I think it’s a shame that you have to pay for premium to be able to quiz yourself and use the flashcards, I think that’s something that should have been added in the free version.

Great beginner app. I love this app and I use it to practice while I’m obtaining my bachelor in aslei! But there’s a few bugs that need to get worked out. There’s several phrases I’ve come across that I’ve answered correctly (using the words that had the . or ? on it for the end of sentences. And it’ll be typed in exactly correct yet it will say it’s wrong/incorrect even though the correct answer showing and my answer show the exact thing word for word (if it’s allow me to post picture reviews I’d share the screen shots but it doesn’t ) Considering it’s $100 a year I would expect the app to work better. Especially when it doesn’t let me move on to the next lesson due to the glitch/error. Other than that I have no complaints but wish they would fix the glitch so I can move on to the next lesson

Highly recommend. Me and my fiancé saw this app on tiktok and were so excited to give it a try. We’d been trying to learn from google and an old book I got back in high school, and it was just so difficult to not have video examples, facial expressions, lip reading, and grammar: the main pieces to learning ASL. This app fills those perfectly in a well designed format and extremely effective methods. We’re delighted to start seeing such sudden progress! Completely worth it, 10/10, I couldn’t recommend enough! :-)

THIS IS SO GREAT. From the whole app being silent (duh inclusion) to the video conversations that have captions (and even name signs!!), this is by far the best ASL app ever. I’ve tried many and I really want to learn as I teach over 600 elementary kids. Every aspect of this app is so well done and it has a really high quality free version! The discount I got emailed to me, to upgrade to the paid version, was a no-brainer for me. I want to support this amazing group and my whole family is learning! Please please try this app and help make the world a more inclusive place.

Learning ASL. I have always wanted to learn ASL, but I had no idea where to start! Now, I use this ASL learning app and I LOVE IT! The app is very easy to use. You’re able to rewind each instructional video however many times you need to in order to comprehend the hand movements. And you can slow the instructional video down so you can watch the hand movements in a better way. The concepts are easy so far and I’m having fun learning a new language. I’m grateful that an app like this one exists in order to bridge the gap among us between the hearing impaired/deaf community and able-hearing individuals.

I love it.. Unfortunately, my daughter just lost her hearing not long ago. At a young age. From a Neurological condition. She has to learn sign language. As her father. I feel. I need to learn this as well. I know some things. I feel. I need to learn more. I went to Google to find an app that would help me. I stumbled across this one. I really like it so far. I am eager to learn more. I really want to surprise my daughter on what her father has learned. I want her to feel she isn’t alone. I am doing this, because I love my daughter.

Too many errors and very little explanation. I have enjoyed this app so much that I paid for a year but the tests too often have errors in them. Example: the question asks for you to pick out the words that match the signs in a statement. “How many TV’s YOU have”. The problem is, the word YOU is not an option to select. No matter what you’re answer is wrong. Another example: question says you are to pick out the words for a signed sentence. Same thing happens as I earlier stated. Nowhere in the signed statement is the word “you or your’ shown but the answer requires you to use it. What’s worse, the SAME statement is used 2 or 3 questions later but with a different answer. This drives me crazy because I’m trying hard to learn sign and I get frustrated when I’m not sure what the question is really asking.

Great for beginners, not so good for those who already know some sign and just want to learn more. I took three years of ASL and would consider myself pretty decent at the language. I obviously still have a lot to learn, but I already know the basics. I downloaded this app as a way to improve my signing skills and to continue learning even though im no longer taking the class, but there was no placement test option of any kind so I was forced to start back at learning how to sign hello. This app is great for beginners but like I said if you know really any sign, It’s pretty useless. A placement test would definitely improve this app ten fold.

ITS GREAT BUT. The conversations when 2 people go back and forth is a little confusing because it hasn’t taught me the signs yet. I LOVE THE APP THOUGH, it’s perfect. I’d also love a part were I could do the signs without the video then check to see if I got it right. That would be amazing. I know they’re flash cards but I want to learn ASL and I don’t have money like that. I’ll most likely make my own flash cards and go over everything on a regular. THANK YOUUUU FOR READINGGGGGGGGGGG

Great App. I’ve been using this app for a little over a week now and have progressed to the subscription chapters. I’m impressed!! It teaches in simple yet effective videos, quizzes, and matching. I especially like the flashcard section to practice signs already covered without redoing the teachings!! Too bad this is only a premium option. This means that once you’ve gone through all the lessons and don’t need to continue to subscribe you’ll lose access to all the flash cards you paid for previously. It’s not a cheap app, unfortunately, which will limit some on purchasing the subscription. Also, it’s a bummer that it doesn’t support family sharing so the kids can learn under their own account without having to purchase multiple subscriptions. I just can’t afford that. They’ll have to use my account even tho it will be inconvenient to keep up with who is at what lesson. But for the price, no way will I pay for multiple subscriptions just over a convenience. Overall its a good app, subscription service could be tweaked so that certain things, like the flashcards, could be lifetime access. That tweak might make it a great app. So I’ll use it and subscribe for a bit but it won’t be a long term app I’ll stick with.

🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽. I love this app! I am 11 years old but I have been trying to learn ASL for a while but I have just never found the right material. I was looking up apps to learn ASL on the App Store today, and I found this one and I automatically fell in love with it! My only critique is that I wish that everything was free on this app. Everyone should get to learn all ASL because it is very important in case we ever come across someone who is deaf or hearing impaired, especially if you work at a store or restaurant. Overall great app!

AWESOME!!!. I am hearing, and I go to a grocery store where there is a deaf cashier. I have always felt so bad that I can’t talk to her or just simply say thank you. This made me think of how many other deaf people must struggle so much in trying to talk to anyone. So I decided I should learn sign language. I looked everywhere I could for the perfect app and this was the perfect one. You can control how fast they go, I especially love it when they have the text conversations with videos. That helps me the most. I have learned so much! It has only been two days with this app, and I can have a long conversation without struggling with the nice cashier. It was fun to see her face light up when she saw me speaking sign language.

Good for beginners!. I’ve been trying to get back into ASL after a year of sparse practice, and this app is great! So far even with just a few lessons I feel like it has helped already! The lessons move at a good pace and don’t take super long, but also aren’t so quick you don’t retain anything. There’s tools like speed control and captions when needed and the layout is very simple! I definitely plan on continuing using it. And for once the premium genuinely seems enticing, so perhaps that will be worth a shot!

It’s great but-. It’s great don’t get me wrong, I’m HOH and I decided to start learning ASL in hopes to be more accommodating at my workplace. We have a night where mainly deaf people come in the enjoy our meals. Regardless the app itself is amazing but the price is just insane- it’s crazy to me. Yet I understand the fact you guys do need to be paid I’m definitely not saying you shouldn’t be you all did a amazing job. What I’m saying is knowing that you have a amazing app that’s able to teach people sign language and help people be able to communicate easier, you would expect it to be less pricy in order to be more accessible to everyone. At least an actual monthly payment not a whole three months stuff. I wish it was so I could be able to continue but i can’t pay so much due to my own financial issues but I thank you for at least teaching me something. You guys did amazing, just needs to be easier to access or at least have a monthly payment.

Serena. I loved learning sign language when I was younger bc I had an issue with talking I am hearing but I have a few friends and family who is either heard of hearing or deaf so I wanted to start learning more signs to actually speak with my loved ones and other people bc you never know when u are gonna need it. This app has helped a lot and I have only had it for a little bit and it have learned and remembered a lot of the signs already it’s a great app to learn from.

Not for limited time learning. I’m studying sign language for school, and I have been looking for an app and didn’t think I could find one. The videos were helpful and the lessons were well developed. This app was helpful for maybe the first two lessons and then it started glitching. The entire app shut down numerous times and caused me to go back a few questions on a lesson. This wouldn’t be too aggravating, except the fact it happens every two questions when you get to the ending of a lesson. It wasted so much time. Not to mention, if you are intending on learning how to have conversations, you have to pay and I understand charging, but the prices for premium are ridiculously high, I’m not paying to take a physical class, I’m downloading an app to help me learn sign language for my sign class. It was very inconvenient.

LOVE IT!. I have been learning ASL for a little over a month now (self teaching) and wanted to get better with it. I find I’m very good at remembering words/terms but not the best at speed. I figured this app would help me with speed as well as learn more vocabulary! In a lot of ways it is different with single terms rather than that single term in a sentence so it’s great to replay the videos if you need it! well worth it. I also love that the people teaching the ASL are deaf as well!

Engaging, fun and great for beginners. I recently starting learning ASL so I can understand my friend at school who is deaf and speaks in sign language. So far, this app has been really good at helping me practice and memorize signs without getting bored or frustrated. It’s like duolingo for ASL! I just bought premium and I can say this app is still very helpful without premium, but with it and the ability to have access to more lessons, I have memorized and understood signs better. Great app and I can’t wait to surprise my friend with signing “hi, how are you?” when I’m back from school break!

Fantastic!. I love this format for learning ASL. It’s engaging and keeps me interested in continuing. I would say it’s the Duolingo for sign language, which I’ve been waiting for a long time to see. My 9 year old son loves it, too. The only thing I wish, is that we could have more than one profile on an account. It’s hard for both my son and I to use the same app, as I have more knowledge of ASL than he does, and I would progress faster than he is.

Room for improvement. Okay here’s my two cents on this app. Great for beginners with no previous knowledge of sign language. They cover pretty basic education in sign language and the deaf community. However as a person who has been signing for nearly 2 years I already had a great grasp on the signs provided in the free education so this really is just nice for review. Continually with the free education it really should just gauge what you know and cover lessons you might not understand. I get the app may be new and purchasing a plan may improve the experience however as a college student I don’t have money to drop like that. Overall good app, just not for people who are experienced in the language already if you don’t have money to spend

bad. first and only app i have ever made a review for purely to say don’t get this app unless you’re willing to spend a lot of money. the first couple of lessons were great, however as soon as i finished the first ones i couldn’t progress

Learner friendly. Amazing, easily understood, clear, beginner friendly lessons. Highly recommend.

Very fun to use and learn with. I’m not deaf and I don’t know anyone who is deaf, but this app is great at teaching ASL. I am having no trouble learning the signs. Sometimes it’s hard to follow along with the real time conversations but if I keep using this app I’ll probably get there in no time at all. Thank you for making this app free!

One issue on an otherwise great app. I really like the app but I have a huge issue with the Quiz and flashcards feature, it shows a lot of the same basic words repeatedly and I want to focus more on the words that I see less often and there’s no options to customise on what the quiz and flash cards test us on.

It’s a really nice app to learn from.. I know there is a premium for this app, but I’ve been learning from the free version and it’s fine. I like that anytime I can refer back on what I have learned, keep it up 👍

Incredible. Just wow! Super organized and well put together app! I can’t recommend it enough!

App with good potential. After less than 3 months I finished all the courses and now what? I wish they had more lessons to offer. On top of the lessons you have access to flashcards, quizzes and you can look up signs which is very useful! I love the break down of conversations bits by bits. I wish that: - The videos wouldn’t stop the music if we’re playing music - we could go back and forth within a lessons, to go back to the sign they just showed for instance

Shaun. I learnt a bit of asl before using this app but wish I had this app first. Anyways gonna use it to learn more now 😬

Learning ASL. This app is clear, and provided a functional ASL signs to learn! I really appreciate it I have known how to finger spell (slowly) for years but my daughter has been diagnosed with a severe motor speech issue, and we are learning ASL to provide her another way to communicate when her verbal words don’t work!

This app is so important. I think everybody should be able to learn ASL for free. This app is an amazing tool and will teach you pretty much everything you need to know.

Easy to use.. If you are new to sign language then this is the app for you. It teaches you step by step with a lot of repetition to ensure you are following and learning.

Amazing. I wanted to learn because I wanted to talk to lots of different people, I have searched for good free ASL apps and I can’t believe how good the free stuff is, I am learning so fast, and it is easy to follow along, I also haven’t had a single add yet on the app! 100% recommend if you are looking to learn ASL

Just interest in learning available abilities. Am a Magician and Musician loving to learn and create!!! This app started off excellently tutorial wise and am sure it will confidently continue to teach me more!!! Thank you!!!

Love it but hate subscription. Love how they do the lessons, it’s really well done and, although I’m incredibly slow, I’m learning! BUT I hate that I can’t just outright buy the app and the only option is subscription

Only 3 lessons?. I was hoping that I could learn a lot more before I had to buy a subscription. The one time I hoped there was ads I could watch or something to unlock more lessons. It’s literally have 3 free lessons (that you could easily complete in a couple days) then pay 45$. Nothing in between. I had higher hopes for this app. Kind of disappointed :(

Enjoying it a lot. I got to the end of a big lesson where two instructors hold a conversation and i was totally lost. they break it down word for word using signs i just learned and suddenly like a light went on, i understood it all. Excellent.

Really good learned most of basics in less than an hour or so. Good app

Glitch. The app overall is really cute in terms of style and I absolutely love the learning process but one thing really ruined the whole experience for me. I already learned a fair amount of signs and I was very excited but as soon as I got to ‘fingerspelling tips’ it kicked me out of the app. EVERY SINGLE TIME I would love to keep using the app so please fix this bug.

Great way to learn ASL. Brilliant way to bridge the gap if not understanding ASL.

This is the app!. I’ve gone through so many ASL apps and this is THE one. Great instruction and lessons. Thanks for being awesome guys!

AAL. Thank you really it’s really good help full app

Amazing App To Learn ASL!. I really like this app. It is easy to use and fun!

I love it!. It’s easy to understand and it’s fun, I’m learning because I have trouble taking in public so it’s been really helpful

Very good. Love this app very helpful

Amazing App. I took many ASL lessons as a younger child and teen. Lost a lot of it over the years but not only is this a phenomenal refresher. I think it is good to use for a newbie too. Clear. User friendly. Perfect amount of repetition. I have brain cancer and like to excessive my brain. And now with hearing loss around the corner. Figured a perfect time to refresh my ASL. Love this

Great app. Nice that there is a slow mode to rewatch

Absolutely loving ASL course!. Really great course.. Easy to follow!

Major Paywall. I think this could be a really great app. It’s cute and well designed, the layout and user interface is simple and easy to understand. The major issue is the fact that you get to learn 3 lessons before it asks you to pay. As of writing this there’s no free trial either. Was hoping it would only put inessential features behind a paywall, like a lot of language apps do. They claim to want to ASL to be accessible to everyone, but I can’t just decide to pay $50 for three months as the cheapest option to learn more than “hello,” “nice to meet you,” and the alphabet, which I can learn for free via the internet, and therefore have.

Learning more. I’ve always loved to learn how to sign but never had time or the money. I found this app and I love it because I can work at my own pace. I’ relearning old signs that have changed over time.

Awsome app but I wish the quizzes for recapping counted for your daily. I love this app and it has been super easy to use but I take a little while to process information so I like the quizzes option but I wish instead of having to learn something new every day the quizzes counted for your streak as I have just lost my streak because I was doing the quizzes for the past couple day but other than that awsome app great job

Love This App. Easy to follow and fun! Would recommend highly.

Learning a great!. I just started learning sign language, this app is great, easy to follow along, and I love that I can slow it down to watch and understand. I’m taking a course to be an EA, I believe this will help me understand individuals who need help that can’t speak. I can not wait till I can master this, and use this for anyone who needs an interpreter. Everyone should learn sign language.

Incredible App. What an amazing app. I love it and can’t wait to learn more

ASL. My daughter in-law and her mom both sign, I’m excited to learn. This app is amazing since I’m not just learning the signs (language) but I’m able to read them also. AMAZING ♥️

❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥. This app is so amazing would definitely recommend ❤️

Easy to follow. I am learning so Much. It is very easy to follow and practice.

Understanding others. My goal is to learn ASL so I can one day communicate proficiently with others using ASL.

ASL bloom. It’s a good app. Simple to follow but only a ew words and the alphabet are free. Anything further is locked. I tried going back today even to just do the practice and you can’t even access the free part once you’ve don’t it. This is not worth it.

Good. I am re-learning sign and this is helpful to keep my mind fresh

Subscriptions. Won’t let me buy just a monthly subscription, I don’t want to pay for 3 months I want to be able to test it out.

Amazing. This app is amazing. Ive been using it for about a week and completely (almost) all the free lessons (which are absolutely incredible and well made), except for one. The "having a good time so far?" Lesson will not load, it keeps popping up with an error screen which has left me a bit unsatisfied as I really wanted to complete all of the lessons. Aside from that, this app is really good and I recommend!

Good app. I love this app i 100% recommend it i learned a lot of signs in just a day i’m really happy

Great!. This is a really good app to learn the basics. I wish there was a way you could sign into your phone to practice signing but it’s good nonetheless

Learning sign language. I am learning sign language to help Me communicate with my autistic grandskn Caedon

Curious to learn ASL - great app to do it!. Wonderful intuitive app, hopefully it’ll open the world up to those who feel a little closer off right now being hard of hearing. The only tie I’ve had for he deaf community was my previous boss who was hard of hearing. Since then I thought it would be good that school adopt the basic signs to be able to communicate with those hard of hearing. We learn foreign languages, so why not sign language? I’m now hoping to learn it to have just incase and to make the world as accessible as it is to me.

You lose everything after trial/subscription. I only had to pay for it once before I finished learning all the topics after a month. I kept the app to do the quiz/test feature so I could keep refreshing my memory of all the signs I had learned. But after my trial ended I wasnt even able to access that and it took away all my progress So i wasn’t allowed to access the levels I had fully completed before (which that part is whatever but im upset about the quiz feature no longer available for use). I don’t want to keep paying for an app that I completed already and only use to one VERY HELPFUL component. There would be more wiggle room in terms of what you can access after the paywall. Because Like I said I unlocked everything before it ran out. Why should it kick me out like that? Or at least make the quiz feature free AT THE VERY LEAST.

🤟. I’ve been saying for years that I want to learn ASL to be able to communicate with everybody. Yesterday I downloaded this app and it took less than an hour for me to know the entire alphabet.

Great app!. The videos repeat so you can memorize signs. The games make learning fun.

Very good light version sad to have to pay for full wouldve been helpful for my teachings. I like the light version unfortunatly no money to get the full one wouldve really help with my teachings around the worldh

i loved this app until i opened my eyes. this apps structure copies old duolingo 1 to 1, which i LOVED. I was so excited and motivated to learn i learned 120 signs in two days… it had a few issues and isnt set up as well duolingo is, from the multiple choice being quite lazy (almost always a), animations failing to replay, and 0 additional explanation of grammar, and differences between signs. nevertheless I was in love and hooked on learning ASL. then I realized when I was still trying to learn in order, that this app doesnt copy the most beautiful thing about duolingo: learning languages for free. after learning over a hundred signs, i realized they put the basics behind a pay wall. the quality of the app seemed low, and I believed that was because it was a passion project, not because it was an intentional money grab. ive learned all these signs out of order and im quite bothered. i was so excited, wish i noticed sooner so i could have uninstalled and moved to a better learning software sooner.

It really helps. Although I still use Lingvano it réait really helps me learn my ask

Thank you!. the best app ever to develop your skills and learn sign language

🫶. I love this app!!!

Great for beginners and as a refresher!. I have been using ASL Bloom for the last couple days and am really enjoying it! I do know some sign but haven’t used it for a while. This app is helping me rediscover what I had forgotten!

Wish there was more transparency about paywall. This is a really great app, and in two days I’ve learned a ton of signs! The video format and lesson structure is interesting and engaging. Unfortunately, without spending $100 a year, you can’t continue past unit 4. Additionally, after every lesson, you have to deal with a poster asking you to upgrade. The poster isn’t too inconvenient, but I wish there was a way to keep learning without a full subscription. I want to learn ASL and this seems like the best option, but I can’t afford the price tag. I’d rather adds than a paywall.

I love this just what I needed 💕. I love this app and I love how it asks questions so you get the personalization that fits to you and your life. I actually like how it’s made by people who are actually deaf themselves so you know that they know what they’re teaching you. If your looking for a app that is enjoyable, fun, amazing, easy, effective, and educational you would love this app. I am actually deaf myself and I love this app it's helping me learn better to communicate with my friends, family, and people around me. It also helps me teach my friends sign as well.

Great for learning ASL! 🩵. I’ve been wanting to learn ASL for a while and have tried many apps, but all of the others have so many features under premium. ASL Bloom, on the other hand, has a massive amount of features that you don’t need to pay money for! The lessons are fun and easy to understand, teaching you actually useful phrases for conversation. I’ve had a lot of fun learning words to piece together sentences, and I hope to continue improving my ASL with this app! Wonderful app, ASL Bloom team! 🩵🌟

Good but could be better. I’d like to see more variety in the signing. It seems like every other person signs their letters different. It would be helpful to see maybe five different people sign the same letter to really understand finger placement and just how much you can vary while still clearly signing the same letter/word. And more consistency in the rules. For example the blond white lady with the glasses will sign numbers 1-5 with palm out but the ‘rules’ say 1-5 palm facing in and 6-9 palm out. Stuff like that. I report but I don’t know if that does anything.

Ooo. Hiiii so I’m fairly new to the app just downloaded it like an hour ago actually and it’s so far really good! I was originally taking ASL classes but I stopped doing the work sense I started falling behind and didn’t know how to catch up but I feel like this app is really starting to help, there are premium options but so far the free version is amazing for first time learners! I don’t have anything to complain about really it just over all seems like a really good app to help people with ASL who are willing to learn, keep up the good work!! ❤️

Great App! Wish Lessons Were Free.. ASL Bloom is a great app. It teaches you everything you need to know about signs, and you can look up any signs you need while also having access to sets and being able to make them. You get a few free lessons, but all lessons after that costs money. I would love to be able to use this app more frequently, but I can’t get the premium right now. Think of the multi-million dollar Duolingo. Lessons on that are free. I understand the sign community is much smaller than the global community, but my friends and I have been searching for an accurate, free sign app for a while, and we’re really sad it couldn’t have been this one.

Why I would recommend ASL Bloom. I already know basic signs like yes, no, thank you, name, and some letters, but i never learned sentences. I just learned like two to three sentences in the first five minutes of downloading the app. 100% recommend it. In Sunday school at my old church, they would have dances to worship songs. But one or two of the songs we sang using sign language, i caught on pretty quickly since i loved learning ASL. I’ve always wanted to learn ASL since watching the movie The Miracle Worker, and learning about Hellen Keller’s story in second grade.

Great except for the completion issue. The lessons where you learn new signs or practice are pretty great and I’ve learned some new things personally but you cannot fully complete a level due to “chatting with joy” when you do those specific ones it will not let you press an option thus not letting you complete a lesson fully. I’m not sure whether this is an issue or bug in the app itself or the purposefully don’t let you do that so you don’t unlock anything else other than the first three lessons but it’s very disheartening.

May need some improvements?. Don’t get me wrong, ASL Bloom is an incredible app. I love to use it for its dictionary and I liked the lessons I took. The issue I have is that, for an app that promotes that people should try to learn ASL to communicate with other ASL users, you have to pay a real lot to just access more than basic signs and the alphabet. I just think, if the goal is to want people to learn so there is more inclusivity then why not make a few more lessons free or more plan options. Locking the language behind an expensive pay wall will not encourage casual learners to want to learn. This is just my opinion but that’s what I think could be improved. Thank you.

Yessssss!. This app is amazing🤩 as a asl lover this app taught me so much on my first day it is really helpful and you can save you favorite signs on a folder and you can review signs any time this app helped me lots and it can help you to 😁 I really recommend it!! 🤘🫶 One more thing… on my first day well, I had to pay for a free week trial and I couldn’t do anything else so I had to pay- by force😒 I just want to communicate with the deaf community ok people! 🧏‍♀️🧏🧏‍♂️ 🥹 I bought it and… it was REALLY so worth it! It is sooooo much fun!🥳🥳🤩😎

Super Helpful. I only use the free version of this app, but I have already found it so helpful and intuitive to use! I like the way it presents all new signs in a way that is manageable but still challenging. I’m really looking forward to continuing learning all about ASL and how to sign grammatically correct. Grammar and the order of sentences have been hard for me in the past when learning ASL. I’d definitely recommend this app to anyone wanting to learn how to start out speaking sign language

Excellent Instruction. As a hearing person, I have wanted to take ASL classes for awhile now but have not found any offered in my area. This app has been hugely helpful in getting my ASL education started. The videos are high quality and well-paced and I appreciate that all the instructors are deaf. I really look forward to being able to communicate with those in the deaf community and feel like I now have a good basic foundation upon which to build my ASL education!

Great app!. I have been trying to learn asl with my friends for a while now and asl bloom makes it easy whichever way you want to learn. You could start with the basics and learn from the lessons or search any sign up to learn that way. Anyways, its a great app. If you want to learn asl easily, get asl bloom. It is genuinely a really good app. If I HAD to name a downside, I would say I dont think I get notifications to learn asl, and i dont set a goal in the app, which is fine because i could just set a reminder or alarm on my phone. Its a great app!

Expensive and glitchy. The app’s animations and design is so cool and fun. Seems like a nice app. Easy to learn and all. However, for those of us without unlimited data plans, we are NOT paying almost $10 a month to learn asl when there are other apps like signschool that are 100% free. Even with lingvano you can at least do SOME things. This things lets you do like 2 lessons then you need to upgrade. Also, idk about anyone else but when it asks if you know what asl stands for it won’t let me answer i keep hitting the American sign language button then next arrow but then i get an alert telling me to select something before i hit next. Super annoying and literally cant do anything else until I answer but I CANT ANSWER! Was literally crashing out over this app.

This App Is Awesome.. So far this app has been absolutely fantastic. It has been able to help me catch on rather quickly. One reason that has been is because the lady teaching it isn’t moving extremely fast. So I am able to observe her & then memorize the lesson. It’s also because as she is teaching she says what the sign means as she demonstrates the sign movements. I find sign language to be absolutely amazing & I can still hear great. It just truly is a fantastic opportunity & these ladies help me learn fast. Thank you.

Giving it five to get seen. This app is good. I am getting very good at asl and it really is teaching me and making it easy to understand. I bought the subscription however I noticed that there are a lot of bugs. It will show me a sign and ask me to type out the sign, but it’ll be wrong and this isn’t just a one time thing. It’s for most of the lessons and then when I type it out, it’ll tell me that I’m wrong. I understand if it’s free however I am paying monthly for this. Please fix.

great app until the paywall. i was very excited for this app, i've been wanting to get better at ASL for ages. i learned 151 signs in one day, and then the paywall. no more learning, review, or literally anything unless you spend $100 for a year or $50 for three months of the "premium." i chose this app over Lingvano and Pocket ASL because i thought i could just use the free version, even if it limited the amount of lessons per day. a monthly subscription isn't available, and i think it's really unfair to allow people to learn so much and then refuse to work unless you pay. i feel misled, and personally i don't have the money to drop at a moment's notice for an app.

Helped me a LOT!!. The best thing I love about this app is that it’s free and you could get lessons every single day and learn more sign language, and I recommend this app because it could lead you to have Conversations with deaf people, and just communicate by sign with your friends and family. and it counts as basically learning another language. right so get this app right now and if you want it for free, just don’t choose a plan!! Thank me later!!!!໒꒰ྀི ˶• ༝ •˶ ྀི১

Great app! One problem.. This is a really good app for learning ASL! The only problem is that you have to pay for the rest of the courses after you finish a couple. I feel as learning a language shouldn’t be behind a paywall or anything of those sorts. You don’t necessarily need to pay to learn how to do something, I feel that stuff like language is extremely crucial to talk to someone. If you need to pay to talk to someone; for example your deaf mom, but you don’t have enough money, what are you going to do?

I am! 😊😊

I’m sorry to say this. I’m sorry but asl bloom came up as a top app, had the top reviews and that is so wrong. It’s not very helpful if you learn the way I do which is interactively such as games or quizzes every once in a while and if you want to make sure your doing the sign right I’d really like a camera (I forgot whether it already has one or not) that says whether you’re doing the sign right or not instead of relying on yourself to check in the camera because then the camera is completely useless. Thank you asl bloom for making this top asl app and I hope this review doesn’t bring your rating down because you really could be good for people who don’t learn the way I do. Again so sorry.

New Free Lesson Daily. I started searching for an app to learn ASL because I’ve been losing my hearing and all of them are locked under premium subscriptions. This one allows you to do New daily lessons, and it has its own dictionary. Honestly, I couldn’t be more thankful. I recommend this to everybody if you’re looking for something that’s free and useful. To the makers of this platform thank you very much, it’s really scary losing my hearing but this makes it just a little less.

This would make learning ASL easier for everyone!

absolutely amazing! 10/10 definitely recommend. i usually don’t leave review’s for apps but i had too for this one! this app is absolutely amazing! i wanted to learn ASL to communicate with people who sign and this app is really helpful. there’s a slow mode so if your like me and work at a slower pace than this would be great for you! it’s very good quality. it’s free too unless you want to pay monthly but you don’t have a limit to how much you learn in a day like other apps. absolutely love this app will be using it a lot more.

Loved it at first, the later modules could use some work. I loved this app when I first started. It gave lots of good insight on grammar, gave you conversations to follow to test your knowledge from each module, and gave insights on deaf culture. I even paid for a 3 month subscription because I assumed all the lessons would be like that. But ever since I got into the later lessons the signs they teach have felt wrong/sketchy. Sometimes they just fingerspell things that I KNOW there are signs for. So it’s confusing. And the grammar lessons/conversations/interactions with deaf culture just seem to stop altogether after a while. Ultimately I’m not happy that I paid for it. It wasn’t worth the money.

Glitchy since update. Since the most recent update (July 22 or there about) the app has been pretty glitchy and acting strange. The “continue lesson” and “next lesson” buttons have stopped working and I have to go into the individual lessons to find where I left off. The “conversations” with Joy and Bloom keep repeating much earlier lessons and the practice tab doesn’t progress past the first few lessons. My learning and progress has slowed because things keep getting stuck. In addition question slides are coming up as incorrect before I even get a chance to answer them. I was absolutely loving this app until these bugs started happening, but I am now considering asking for a refund.

Very StraightforwardDesigne. This particular ASL program is so convenient and easily adaptable to your time. It is also arranged in such a way that you are more likely to retain what you have learned. Repetition in small chunks is truly beneficial for any age bracket. Some other programs tend to begin with tedious lessons that don’t offer immediate applicability. At the end of each small lesson of this program, a person feels like he or she has truly accomplished an important skill that can easily be practiced throughout the day.

Great teachings, too expensive. I started this app several days ago to go along with the one on one class where my friend is teaching me. I'm really enjoying it, and like the way they are teaching the signs. Unfortunately my understanding is I won't be able to do it much longer without paying for it, and when I looked at the prices it's just way too expensive. If it were a more reasonable price I would sign up for it, but I guess I'll just have to stick with learning from my teacher friend soon.

Loving it!. This app is so much fun and easy to use. It starts you off at a great pace and the natural progression of conversation is challenging but you can rewatch as many times as you need to and they show you signs from different angles and with different presenters so you can see some unique variation in how each person shapes their signs. Highly recommend, quick and fun lessons make it super easy to just pick up and learn when you have a few minutes here and there.

Great app for beginners. Since Duolingo doesn’t have ASL, this is the best available option. I’m a hearing person but trying to learn because I think ASL is such a beautiful language. App features I love: - Option to slow down video/GIF speed and playback. This is invaluable because “speak slower please” and “again” and “again but slower please” are probably the most important phrases when learning a new language haha. - ASL sentence structure shown, in addition to English caption - Information on Deaf culture. I’m not Deaf but I am multilingual and therefore understand the importance of learning the culture behind a language to gain true mastery. - Tips on using facial expressions to get your meaning across. For example Emma’s tip about eyebrows down for open-ended What? questions and eyebrows up for Yes/No questions. I think this is something hearing people struggle with, or I do at least, because we’re used to using our voice as a crutch.

Really disappointed. This is an incredible app, it’s really fun and engaging! The ad I saw for it compared itself to Duolingo but with sign language. Unlike Duolingo the subscription blocks most lessons, only allowing three categories before you have to pay for it. I understand every company needs to profit in some capacity, but if you’re going to advertise yourself as Duolingo but for sign than free access to all lessons should be the bare minimum. Duolingo makes a profit with other in app purchases that don’t lock the lessons behind a paywall. I’m in a tough financial situation and can’t afford a subscription no matter how badly I want to learn sign. The worst part is this was genuinely helping.

Wonderful! Simple & Well Structured. I love ASL Bloom! I had actually tried Lingvano first and prefer ASL Bloom so much more. The lessons are structured in short lessons which makes it easy to stay engaged, I loved that you can pause or slow down any video. Also the short sections and their categories mean you are learning signs relevant to daily life very quickly and are able to participate in conversations much more quickly than with any other method of learning ASL that I’ve tried.

Makes ASL seem easy. I’ve always wanted to learn asl so I could communicate with others without talking, but I’ve been very disorganized in my learning. I looked up ASL apps and Bloom was recommended to me (I think it was their own site 😅 kinda biased but I don’t mind). Most of the lessons are blocked behind a subscription, but the couple that aren’t have really helped so far, plus they have a small dictionary that is free as well. I’m honestly considering the subscription, but I want to find a friend to do it with. Would definitely recommend this app though.

Love it!. I already took two ASL classes about 3-4 years ago in college and wanted to see how this app was. I love it! You’re able to adjust the speed of the instructions and it asks you about the same signs multiple ways to make sure you understand and lets you retry the ones you miss! I do wish you didn’t have to pay for more of the info as I can’t afford it but i understand why it is that way and hopefully I can eventually take that step and actually learn new things through it!!
