60fps and cross device saves?. The game itself is the same great Monster Train experience as on PC, no complaints with regard to gameplay. However, a few complaints about the port: — No 60fps mode. The game runs beautifully on PC, why shouldn’t it on mobile devices capable of running it? — Cloud saves are buggy/not working. Attempting to play the same save file across phone and iPad has not worked at all. Yes, they are logged into the same Apple account. Yes, I checked that cloud saves are enabled in settings. — More minor gripe, but swiping to switch floors on the train is rather finicky/unresponsive. Often takes multiple tries, and honestly tapping the tiny arrow is less annoying. —— The game could be great, and I’ll update my review if/when these issues get fixed. ———— UPDATE: The game now overwrote my more recent phone save’s progress with my unplayed iPad progress, effectively wiping everything I did last night. Lowering to 2 stars as now I don’t feel comfortable playing the game for fear my progress will be wiped again. Please fix this and make a more robust cloud save system.

Known bug deletes saves. I downloaded Monster Train for iPhone a few days ago. So far, I put about 5 or 6 hours into it. I enjoyed it, and completed a few runs. I decided to install it on my iPad. That’s when I discovered that there’s a bug that deletes all of your game progress when you install the game on a new device. Ouch! Apparently, it’s been a problem for more than a year. Five star game, one star experience.

Amazing game, but few bugs and no 60fps. I’m not going to focus on the game itself, because it’s fantastic. If you like Slay the Spire, this is worth your time. It’s also on Gamepass if you want to try for “free” before buying on a more portable version. My main issue is the card selection can be finicky and too easy to accidentally cast a spell. It’s happened to me dozens of times at this point. 60fps support would be amazing, really any more graphical options. I maybe the option to turn down graphical effects to really optimize for battery life?

Pretty fun. Good game and really unique compared to other rogue like card games. Takes around 10-15 hours to see almost all the content.

Fantastic. I’d previously played this game on Xbox and thought it would make a wonderful addition to the app atore, and here we are! Monster Train is easy to learn with plenty of variety in playstyles, TONS of replayability, and challenge for new players and card game extraordinaires alike. The price is an absolute steal. What more do you need?

Great game. Although it’s a little different than slay the spire, it’s similar in its quick to pick up and learn with infinite replayabilty, it’s tricky to master. If you’re a fan of StS, you’ll also love this game.

Good Depth. I’m about 20 runs in or so and as an avid rogue-like player I’m pretty impressed. It looks good, sounds good, had good depth and replay ability. I looove the theme and concept. Very cool minions and cards.

Fantastic game with a devastating bug. The gameplay is extremely fun and addictive. Ive been looking for a slay the spire substitute and this fits the bill. The problem is if you try to play on more than one device. I want to switch from my ipad to my phone and it deleted all my progress from the ipad. Hours of wins and progress just wiped away instantly. I want to keep playing but man is it frustrating. Hopefully this gets fixed soon. Would be 5 stars once that gets fixed.

Fantastic Game. I’ve been playing monster train for a while now on PC and it’s an amazing deck building game that’s friendly to newcomers. This is an amazing port from the PC version! If you like games like Slay the Spire, you’ll almost certainly love this game.

Great game but limited on m1. I've been playing on xbox for quite a while and bought the game and the DLC despite it being available on game pass because of how much I enjoy it. I was really excited to learn that it was available on iOS because I've been wanting a way to play it away from my xbox. I've used cloud streaming and that works okay, but it isn't ideal. I was hoping that I would be able to play this on my M1 macbook, but there isn't any controller support and scrolling gestures on the trackpad aren't recognized, so when you're looking at your deck, you can't see the entire thing. This makes it impossible to delete cards or upgrade cards if they are past the first few, visible rows. Playing on my phone, the game seems great although I've only got a small out of time on it so far. I haven't tried it yet on my ipad.

Much better than the Slay the Spire iOS Port. Yes, the game could run at a little higher frame rate, but the iCloud sync works well for me (exit the match before closing the app) and the polish and implementation of everything is quite good. So much better than the Slay the Spire iOS port!

A classic brought to the phone. Amazing game. If you like deck building rogue-likes. One of my favorites, fun battles, quick simple but not too easy. Main problem I gotta say, I don’t think there’s much to be done about it tho, is that the screen is pretty small for the game. It can be hard to understand what’s happening if you playing with a lot of units on a single floor. Besides that tho. It’s great!

Love game but needs a fix!. I was so excited when this was released for the iPad but bummed because the bosses are too far off the screen to the right to be able to attack with spells. Hoping this gets resolved soon!

Great game, port needs work. Fantastic deck builder that I’ve put well over 100 hours into on desktop. The port needs some work though - on a brand new iPad Pro I’m seeing choppy frame rates, and some game elements are scaled oddly or clipped out of frame entirely (for example, you can’t see the flying bosses HP, and when my hand was full the cards felt overly small with no apparent way to size up the hand). Controls feel a bit meh - swiping on the sides of the screen to change floors doesn’t feel great, and browsing your deck feels clunky. Well worth your money once those issues are cleared up

Love this game. Awesome game that I can play over and over again because each battle takes about 1 hour and are totally different than the last battle. Makes you think a lot which is what I really enjoy.

Great game but why’s it choppy?. Excellent game, almost identical to the Windows version. Only issue is it runs choppy on a new IPad Pro. If I were to guess the game is locked at 30fps. Please remove frame rate restriction.

Awesome game. But is there iPad/iPhone cross functionality? I bought it on iOS but it seems to be asking me to repurchase it on my iPad? Is this intended or is it something that was overlooked?

Great game but got some bugs on initial release. One of the greatest roguelike deck builders ever created. Great to have it on iOS. Most aspects of the port are excellent but there are some bugs, at least some of which will kill your run after 30+ minutes of play (eg. units’ special abilities not triggering when they’re supposed to). Once those get ironed out this will be one of the most perfect iOS games of all time.

If you like combos…. This game is one of the only ones that are fun for me on mobile. My advice, try the game until you unlock a few clans and buy the dlc. The dlc turns this game from a 6/10 to a 10/10. Honestly would have made more sense for the base game to be free and the dlc to be the prices combined.

iCloud Saves Still Broken. It *does not* ask you about conflicting data. I was *in the middle of a run* when I installed Monster Train on my iPhone to continue there. Instead of picking up the cloud save, it nuked it and started me on the tutorial level. I immediately quit on my iPhone and went back to the iPad only to be greeted with a screen saying "The game is currently running on another device. Tap 'OK' to continue playing on this device and be redirected to the main menu with your current progress." At which point it wiped out all of my progress and reset all my XP. How is this acceptable for a roguelite game that's all about progression from game to game? There are 10 month posts about this bug, and it's even referenced in a 5 month old patch note, but the dialog box that came up gave me *no choice* what so ever.

Awesome deck builder. I played this first on Xbox and then grabbed it when I saw it was on the phone. I do recommend the last divinity DLC because it lets you modify your cards in new ways. The only real complaints I have are that I occasionally fat-finger the wrong card into play and it spoils the battle (you’ll win or lose based on the order of your units and cards played) and I think Wurmkin shows up too much when I randomize my tribes.

Easily a condenser for GOAT. Already played a ton on steam and bought this back when it came out on mobile. I find myself coming back to it constantly. Just a really fantastic game. I say better than Slay the Spire. If you’re even remotely a fan of deck builders this will scratch every itch.

iCloud Save Still Broken. Despite release notes to the contrary, Monster Train *still* will wipe your progress if you dare to do something like install the game on another device. The “choice” on the dialog box is only a single “OK” button that wipes out the current progress. Given how crucial progression is to this game, and how you’re locked out of large swathes of functionality without it, this is utterly game breaking and completely unacceptable that such a bug would still exist 10 months after release. Why is this even on by default?

Fantastic game, but. Love this game, highly recommend to all. However currently if you have to leave the game (like sending a text, or checking an email that came in) and then go back to the game, it pops up saying ‘the game is running on another device’ and takes you to the main menu. I don’t have it running on another device… so it’s annoying to have to go through that every time I switch to another app for 5 seconds. Other than that, the game itself it’s awesome!

As good as they say. In my book, one of the best games ever made for any platform. Smooth, polished, and immediately fun - and stays fun for countless hours. You don’t need to a fan of anything specific to enjoy this. Great game.

Five stars for a great game but please bring parity to PC version. Some little things like not being able to look at your deck contents on certain screens when you can on the PC version are very annoying. I shouldn’t have to memorize my deck before making a choice.

Best game ever. I’ve bought this game on PC, Xbox and now my phone and its great on every platform. One of two roguelike deck builders that has been able to keep me playing after hundreds of hours, the other being Slay the Spire. There are five different clans (six with the DLC) and each clan has two champions and you combine two clans each run so there are a ton of different options and cool synergies to discover. My favorite thing about this game is that it’s really easy to figure out how everything works but it’s still complex enough to make you really think about what you have to do.

One of the Top Deckbuilding Roguelikes. Like, I’m saying that this game is essential if you like this genre. It’s right up there with Slay the Spire. As the genre grows and evolves Monster Train will offer essential qualities for successful and replayable roguelikes. How much do I love this game? I bought it 3 times 😅

Suggestion feature to add. Fun deck building game, where you try to find the most op mechanic However in order to build that op deck you need to carefully pick your card. After you win a battle you’re presented with three cards to choose from, however you are unable to review your deck. The only way to review the deck is to quit the game and then pick the card you want. This feature is on the original pc, just not on iPad nor phone for some reason

Great game - but let us see our deck!. Desperately needs to let us see the map and our deck on drafting screens. Otherwise, incredible experience. Deep gameplay, interesting choices, and polished UI for the handheld experience.

Better than slay the spire. I have over 100 hours into this game and got 100% achievements on the steam version. More fun than StS, and easier to understand.

Defintely a lot of fun. It’s hard enough that I have to think carefully sometimes but straightforward enough to pick up and put down while traveling and mostly remember my next steps. I’m fairly certain my ccatholic school teacher wouldn’t approve of the story but the gameplay is really good. If you like Slay the Spire, Monster Train is interesting alternative to try

A phenomenal game. Monster Train is just a better Slay the Spire. This is an absolutely phenomenal game and one of the best roguelikes in recent memory. If you have ever enjoyed a tactical roguelike (FTL, Darkest Dungeon, Into the Breach, Slay the Spire, etc.), you need to pick this one up.

Fantastic Game. After playing this on my iPad, I picked up a physical copy for the Switch. Great strategy card building game. If you liked Slay the Spire, you’ll love this.

Solid Port. Monster Train is my favorite deck building game, and to be able to play it mobile is a dream come true. I've completed so many runs since purchasing. There are a few very minor bugs here and there, but nothing game breaking or annoying at all. This might be the best $10 I've ever spent on the app store. If you enjoyed the PC or console version, you will love the mobile version.

Wonderful card game with a twist but touch controls can be better. Great game. Was enjoying on game pass Xbox and now I can play on my iPad. You definitely should try it. Below is a message to devs since I couldn’t find a way to report issues/suggestions on the website. Bugs first. Swipe up and down on iPad has dead zones and not working smoothly all the time. Picking a card bug is dangerous. When you tap on a card so it flows above all others and then start swiping this card to the field, you may drag card below instead. Happened dozens of times already. Easy to reproduce. IPad specific layout - would be nice if you make space below for all the cards so they are not squished. There is plenty of space on iPad 12.9 at least. Also you can see the whole card but a bit below info like damage/health and still need to tap a card which seems silly since there is all that space. Same with floors. I can see all three floors. But yet I can’t target a spell to a different floor. Seems counter intuitive for a touch device. One solution could be to move icons from the bottom and to the sides. I understand the layout is good for iPhone, but not so much for iPad. Anywho the game is good, and could be more enjoyable on a large touch device with a few tweaks.

All aboard!. All aboard the most addictive, insanely deep, fun deck builder there is for my money. If you loved Slay the Spire you will probably love this as well. I think this is every bit as good as STS, and has even raised the bar a little higher. Well worth checking out! Now that the developers have updated the game to where I can use my purchased DLC offline as I wanted to, I am restoring my review to a well deserved five stars. The base game and the DLC are all I’ve ever wanted in a deck building game and so much more. The game has seemingly infinite replay ability, and so much fun and depth. This is one ride you don’t want to miss! Thank you to everyone involved in making this gem and bringing it to this platform.

Easier than Slay the Spire but just as fun. For someone who has liked StS and other rogue like card games, but never been “obsessed” with one, Monster Train has definitely been the first game in this genre to really grip me. Each game lasts around 90 minutes but they can be so different, each species of demon can be mixed and matched. It is definitely easier than StS, but I love that sometimes you’ll win by the skin of your teeth and sometimes you will kill the final boss in the first turn because you have a killer combo.

Amazing!. This is one of my favorite games of all time in any genre, and I’m enjoying it all over again on my phone. My favorite thing about this game is how impactful each choice is; I get bored now with other games where it feels like my decisions or upgrades are incremental. In this one, adding or even removing a single card can change your whole strategy :) Just some notes for the devs: On a non-huge iPhone, units stacked to 5+ become pretty unreadable, especially if they have armor, in which case you can’t read the stats. I think there’s probably not an easy solution to totally solve this, but I wonder if you could add the unit stats to the hold/hover dialog where it currently only shows buffs, debuffs, statuses and helper text. It can also be tough to target a specific unit when they’re stacked high on mobile - I think it would probably be particularly frustrating for a newer player, but I’m not sure what’s to be done about that one. There is a strange issue that I’m pretty is the same thing I ran into in the pc version, where occasionally when grabbing a card to play, it would scroll you to a different floor with the card in hand. Sometimes this causes a misplay but I think it’s a slightly bigger issue on mobile because you can’t scroll a mouse wheel to quickly correct it; you have to put the card down and try again. Anyway, thanks for brining this masterpiece to my pocket!

Super fun. Waited for this to come to iPad and it was worth the wait. So far I’m enjoying it more than slay the spire which says a lot. My only complaints are 1. Any kind of app interruption causes you to get kicked out of your run and you have to start your level over. Even something as simple as opening control center to adjust brightness. It says something about another device and kicks you back to the main menu. This needs some refinement. 2. iCloud seems iffy? Played on my iPad and then tried to continue on my iPhone and there’s no progress other than Game Center achievements. Hope this is fixed. Easily worth the price regardless of these issues but they would be well appreciated fixes.

Great Steam crossover. I first played this game on Steam and was really happy to see it for iOS. Not pay to win in any way, you develop your deck and never lose progress. No silly events to get you to buy and a fun soundtrack. I don’t know what more you can ask for in a rogue-lite/rogue-like card battler franchise. The story is fun, but not tedious. The different factions are each interesting on their own, and fun to combine into different runs. It features a progression map like Slay the Spire (another great rogue-like on Steam) which allows you to choose your path through the game for high replay value. The system demands for the game are low, which makes it great on PC, but now for iOS, it’s available on your handheld platform for a great time killer wherever you are. It’s turn-based, which is a plus; and well…. I just can’t recommend this game highly enough. Play it, you’ll love it.

Double dipped!. Initially bought the game on my Nintendo Switch but it looked so much better on my iPad that I had to purchase again. Great card/deck building rogue game with lots of replay ability with progression. Just get it and buy the DLC too.

The king of a growing genre. This is by far my favorite deck building roguelite. Great aesthetic, design, balance, and length. More card/clans would be great, even as more DLC, but what’s there is great. I love it on both PC and mobile. Just buy it.

Amazingly Refreshing. I’ve played every single major tcg/deck builder from their releases and Monster Train is one of the best. Addicting. Simple to learn. Hard to master. Just like all the best games ever made. The three tiers of fighting. The synergies. The combos. So good. Ive played Slay the Spire for years. It’s my go to for deckbuilder roguelites. Not any more. My only complaint…I NEED MORE! MORE CARDS, MORE CHAMPS, MORE ARTIFACTS! Maybe Monster Train 2!?!? Update - found a couple flaws that really ruin a run. I play on an ipad and choosing the card I want to play and actually playing it can be tricky. It feels like the cards need more space in-between one another or a confirm play button. There’s actually a few QoL choices during a run that I feel should ask for a confirm. When given choices in random cave events it should show the items or ask for a confirm when you click them as well.

Excellent Port, Fun Game. For any fans that have played on a different device, this is a near flawless port, with the main limitations being iPhone related. The graphics are great, but the later stage boss visual effects really drain the iPhone battery and heat it up. One minor bug, frozen cavern visit gains are lost if you close the app any time between visiting the cavern and fighting a boss, so be careful.

Addicting from the very beginning. I was hooked as soon as I started playing it. Easy to learn and lots to explore. The game is also incredibly polished. Having never played it on any other system, I don’t have any issues with the UI or touch support even on iPad. Looks and feels just about perfect.

Great Game, Music is buggy. Just got the game and love the gameplay. One of the reasons I got this game over other roguelikes was the amazing soundtrack. However, music or sound does not work once the app is launched . I tried restarting my iPhone, redownloading the app, messing with my iPhone settings, looking at forums, etc. Doesn’t seem fixable on my end :( Hopefully this gets patched or resolved in the future, disappointing to say the least for a paid app.

I looooove this game so much. One of my favorite rouge-like/deck-builders. I was super excited to see it come to phone. Great job with putting this one together!! Only thing I wish I could do is look at my deck while selecting rewards.

Great just needs to fix a minor issue. You can’t check out the map or your deck when you’re drafting cards/units. This is something you can do on PC.

Solid port. Great game happy it has a mobile port. Wish matchmaking didn’t take so long but great single player experience, perfect for flights

Fun!. This game is a bunch of fun. Very much recommend!

The perfect iPhone game - best roguelike card battler. Best roguelike card battler. Better than slay the spire. Very satisfying. Simple yet excellent in every way. Would pay $$$ for more expansions.

One of my favourite game. This is one of my favourite game on steam, I spend over 100 hrs on it and just scratching the surface. I’m glad it’s coming to iPad, I can play even on airplane.

Good game. Not sure why its rated so low. If you love this game on any other platform, here it now is on your iPhone. Addictive as hell and well designed.

Fantastic rogue- lite card brawler. This is heaps of fun. Thoroughly recommended.

Played it on Game Pass, bought on Steam and Switch…and now for my iPhone.. I was worried this game might not play well on my iPhone, but I was pleasantly surprised how polished it is. It’s amazing now having the game on the go since I always have my phone with me. It’s quite cheap too and we’ll worth it. One of the best Roguelite deck builders.

Cannot target the boss. Cannot apply cards to the bosses that are not on the floor, they are half out of the iPad screen. Also only part of their hp is visible.

Save lost. Somehow the save is lost.

Awesome game and Port. This game is a deep and well polished deck building roguelite with tower defence. It has solid reviews on steam and for good reason. The developers have ported this one across to iOS extremely well. It’s a joy to play on the go. Unfortunately it got review bombed on an issue that was quickly resolved (targeting bosses off screen). Does not deserve the dropped rating but oh well. Well done to the devs!

Great port of the great game. Nice rogue like deck building . Tons of strategy and replayability. Please add map like pc version , dev.

Good game but does not work for ipad mini. It is really a good game. But for ipad mini, I can not select the boss because it is off the screen. That’s really sad that I can not use spell cards to deal with boss.

One of the best value for money games. I also recommend getting the DLC the new clan is interesting and an extra boss is fun to plan around.

Nice port, quality of life needed. Loved this game for years. Happy it’s on iOS. 2 things that would be welcome changes: - You can’t see your cards when choosing a card reward a battle. It’s hard to keep track of all the synergies. Just keep the top menu available so I can see my current trinkets/cards. - “tap & hold for info” animation takes too long. I don’t mind the circular loader as a ui element but it needs to be faster.

Not as good as desktop, still amazing. Some minor issues caused by mobile screen size limitations, but otherwise still a fantastic game.

Playing on a new apple device will destroy your save!!. Bugs: -installing on additional ios devices will clear your cloud save. I lost a couple hours of playing as a result. Turn off cloud saves or back your saves up when installing on multiple devices. Cloud save works fine after though. -hard to read cards -wrong card often played depending on how you drag your selected card to the play area. Otherwise the game is amazing and I strongly recommend. 5/5, -1 for the cloud save bug. I was eagerly awaiting the game to come to IOS. No cross platform save for other systems though.

Second time buying. Purchased on steam initially but it doesn’t run on my Mac, saw that it’s available for my iPad so bought instantly. Between this, slay the spire and into the breach, I’m all set.

Best turn base strategy game. - A lot of replay -Deep strategy -Learning curve, but very beginner friendly -When you finished the game (it’s close to impossible to get all achievements) a lot of replay with daily challenges. -I play nearly daily for over a year. -Chess like, you must tink a lot of turns in advance

One of the best games on iOS. Solid gameplay and progression. No gacha, no pay to win, no ads. If you buy one game for your iPhone or iPad, Monster Train should be it. I actually now play it on iPad more than I do on Steam/PC. The problem with most reviews in the App Store is that the majority of the people don’t play games on PC and don’t really know the gaming world that well.

Really really good game. Dis game fire emojis fr

Almost Perfect. This is one of the best deck builders to come out in in recent years. Do yourself a favour and buy it on whatever platform you prefer! My only ask for the iOS ports: you can’t see the bottom of the cards in your hand, it’s a touch screen so why not add scrolling? Finally tool tips for card effects throughout would help out newer players. Still gets 5 stars for being one of my favourite go to games even two years later!

Just buy it. This is the best deck builder you can get on any platform

Among the best. Amazing game, had it on pc, got it for the iPad, perfect port, excellent game, hours of fun !

One of the great. One of a few non-predatory, high quality mobile gaming experience. Highly recommend, on par with Slay the spire!

Awesome game!. Hope to see more dlc for this.

Awesome game. I’m hooked first time playing it. But seeing videos of how the steam version allows you to view your cards prior to choosing draft of cards. The mobile version doesn’t allow you to view the deck of cards while selecting say draft units or clan pack cards. This makes it very difficult to make decisions as u need to memorize your deck pre-battle

Very good game, some UX issues. You should really be able to view your deck whenever you have to draft or pick a new card. It seems like poor UX not to allow it in some situations and to do so in others. That said, still a very addictive game that I’ve sunk a lot of hours into.

Love this game on pc, feels clunky on iPad. Absolutely love this game. This game is an awesome deck building game. Highly recommend on pc and I hope to recommend on iPad in the future. Experienced a bug when placing my first train steward and the card was stuck in a half played position. I think it was a tutorial tip that might have interrupted the action. I could push other buttons but I couldn’t play any other cards. I wish I could scroll through the train cars by dragging my finger. And I had a bug in the map where my camera was pushed to the beginning and I couldn’t scroll down. It wasn’t frozen I could interact with the deck, speed, and menu.

great game. one of my favourite games, I own it on mobile, switch, and PC. No p2w or microtransaction nonsense, you get the whole game when you purchase it.

Great game but…. This game is a ton of fun. Unfortunately, after purchasing the DLC, I only have access to it after a full phone restart. 5 stars when this gets fixed.

Really fun game. Similar to slay the spire, but with a different mechanics and lore. Great iPad game! Great job devs!

Great game. Great game on Pc, but now I get to play it on my phone in bed and on the toilet

pure distilled fun. hey, do you like fun? get this game

Tons of Fun. Excellent roguelike. If you like Slay the Spire this is a must play!

Great Game. Stifled by lack of controller support. 😕

Enjoyable but I feel like I'm cheating. Eternal Flame III Little Fade is so overpowered that it feels like cheating. The game is great though, very addictive and choices really matter.

The absolute pinnacle of deck building fun.. Stop wasting your time and just buy this. Just trust me. I don’t review things. This one is special.

Amazing. Better than sts and optimized for mobile, well done devs 👍👍👍

Finally on mobile!GREAT!! But have some tips…. Really really nice game that can be competitive with STS. But still have some tips and hope the developers can improve 1. Need 60fps option 2. When choosing card(one of three or one of two) , it should allow us to see card deck Hope the game will be better~

Perfect excuse to buy an iPad!. I can’t get enough of this game! I might need to go to rehab.

A real actual video game. No gambling, no whale hunting, just an honest to goodness great strategy game on your iPhone. I much prefer it to Slay the Spire FWIW

iCloud saves are busted. I just lost about 15 hours of gameplay… Avoid if you value your time!

Great game. Addicted

Pretty disappointed. I’ve been waiting for this game to show up on iOS for a while as it’s just not the kind of game I want to play on XBOX and I don’t have a PC. But so far, I’ve been quite disappointed in the quality of this premium priced game. The touch controls are… not very responsive. Much like Slay the Spire, this game seems like it was made for touch and yet the touch controls just don’t work well. Picking up the right card is tricky because they are smashed into a small area. Fingers are bigger than mouse cursors, this needs a redesign. Also the method of swiping between floors make no sense and just gets in the way. Why can’t we just free swipe instead of this weird counterintuitive method? Just use the arrows. It’s slow, but at least it makes sense. And finally, the biggest bug: Every time I re-open the app after I’ve switched off, I get an error saying that the game is already being run on another device. it then kicks me back to the menu. This is on my m1 iPad Pro with 16GB RAM. App switching so totally function on this device. This also happens randomly while I am trying to play the game. Considering I just downloaded it today, only to this device, and I don’t share my Apple ID with anyone, this seems fairly unlikely. In fact, it literally happened the first time I opened the game! Inexcusable for a premium game to be released with a bug like this. I haven’t played the game before, so I can’t really judge how good the actual game itself is, but with these problems I’m probably going to chalk this up as a loss unless the UI is improved and the bugs are fixed. Terribly disappointing.

Great Game, bad port. Great Game but there are some glaring issues with the iPad version that would be so obvious through a single play through, was there and QA on iPad? Any off-screen boss is un-targetable and barely visible, which is pretty critical. Won’t play on this platform until it’s patched.

Great game. I was doubtful from the name, write-up, and images. But it’s actually a lot of fun. If you like Slay the Spire, you’ll love this.

Hope they add more DLC. So far so good. Works smooth and runs just like the Xbox one. Waiting on divinity DLC and hope they add new races!

A classic. Will permanently be on my phone alongside slay the spire and dicey dungeon!

Gg. If you know you know

Pretty Good 👍. Have enjoyed theis game immensely. Makes waiting at the Dr. Office fun

Great Port …. … but logbook is bugged. On the Clanless Artifacts pages, the screen zooms past what should be page 2 when tapping the right arrow - i.e., it skips over Lightstone Casing to Wing Clippings. Such a shame for those of us who like filling/exploring the logbook!

Great deckbuilder!. Love the synergies and combos you can put together in this game. More replayable than any deck builder I’ve tried

The best deckbuilder roguelike game!!. This is my 3rd platform buying and beating monster train. One of the best deckbuilders of all times comes to iOS!!!

Drm?. Bought the expansion and can’t play it when I’m not connected to the internet

Incredible game but very unstable with DLC. UPDATE: after further experimentation, it’s the DLC expansion that causes the crashes. While the base game does strain/heat my iPad, causing the slowdowns described below, it does not push it to fail. If I toggle off the DLC, the game hangs together. As a result of this discovery, I’ve increased my rating from 3 to 4 and will only seek a refund on the DLC, unless the devs have plans to improve stability and/or add some options to throttle down graphical demands. ————— Original review: It truly pains me to leave this review as I absolutely love this game, so I’m hoping the devs can fix the issues I have and allow me to give it the 5 stars it deserves. First and quickly, the game is amazing. The strategic and tactical choices are fascinating and fun, and the thrill of completing a run and growing your abilities is highly addicting. I haven’t enjoyed an app this much in a long time. However I’ve been having a lot of problems running it on my iPad Pro with iOS 16.3.1. Beyond it draining the battery rapidly and heating up the iPad a lot - both things I can understand and tolerate - it has crashed multiple times. It also suffers from some slowdown at times with instances that get bad enough for it to totally freeze for several seconds before it ultimately recovers… or crashes. Now, when I say it’s crashed multiple times I’m talking maybe six times so far, but when you’re in the heat of a 15-minute battle against the end boss and it blacks out, it’s incredibly annoying. That brings me to another frustration: if I’m in the middle of a battle and have to stop for a minute, either leaving the app to check something else on my iPad or turning off my screen, 9 times out of 10 when I come back the game will have completely closed and reset my battle back to start. It should be better at saving the current state of the game so that if it does need to reload the app, it can jump right back to where I stopped mid-battle. Back to the stability issues, I have the High Frame Rate Mode set to OFF and even turned on the static battle background to try to reduce the graphical demands. I’ll add that the stability problems got substantially worse once I purchased the Last Divinity DLC. Devs, please: it will absolutely break my heart if I have to uninstall and refund this game as I truly love it, but as it stands I won’t have much choice if I can’t reliably play it. Since you added the optional very high performance frame rate mode, maybe you could also add some options for downgrading the graphic quality to reduce the strain? Or maybe a way to turn down some of the (beautiful) effects in the game. Anything to make it more stable, or at the very least, make it save the state of the game in real time so that even if it does crash it can resume right where it stopped (or very close to). I’m very much hoping you’ll tell me an update along these lines is already in the pipeline as that would be enough for me to hold out, but otherwise unfortunately I’ll have to give up on and return this excellent game. Thanks for reading.

Nice. Good game

Can’t believe it took me so long to pick this up. Amazing game. The systems are all breakable in the best ways. A pure joy to play.

Pain train. It’s good, clever design. 5 stars

Stuck on loading data. Is there a fix 9/10 times it won’t load the game after the intro

Cool game. This game is amazing so many ways to defeat your opponent this game needs to be more popular

I play this all day. The best game I’ve ever played. Has the best replay ability I’ve ever experienced.

iCloud save bug. There is an iCloud save bug that ruins your progress. I can’t recommend this game unless that is fixed.

Infinite Replayability! The Upgrade is Worth It. Great game mechanics, I’m addicted.

Aspect ratio fixed. Latest patch finally fixed the aspect ratio for ipad pros. Hats of to the team for a great port

Fun game on PC but lots of bugs on iOS. Unable to target offscreen bosses with certain targeting spells which makes spell-casting builds significantly weaker in this version.

The best. Wish there was even more content.

I won’t play your evil game.. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Great game. Lots of replayability

My Favorite Roguelike Deckbuilder, now on iOS. I got on a tear of trying out roguelike deckbuilders after getting drawn into Slay the Spire, and when I asked for recommendations, Monster Train always seemed to show up on the list. Sadly, it wasn't on iOS, but I tracked it down on another platform and quickly discovered that there was a good reason for this. The simple reality is that the gameplay is really fun - I have played other RDs which were cleverly constructed and had cool effects or narrative, but they often felt kind of bland or repetitive in the actual gameplay (Griftlands is a great example of this - I love everything about that game, except the actual card battling is just kind of there). Alternately, they might have very solid, involved play, but a given run was an INVESTMENT (looking at you, Slay the Spire). Monster Train really threads the needle. The narrative isn't super deep, but it's colorful enough to be fun. Gameplay is enjoyable with a wide variety of different possible approaches (combining two factions plus picking a champion gives a lot of diverse foundations before you even get into randomization). An entire run might take a half hour or so, but critically, it's MUCH easier to walk away and come back - it's pretty easy to get a sense of how your deck is supposed to work with a quick review. There's no sense you need to reconstruct what the heck your strategy had been last time you played. Anyway, the real measure here is that I've now picked this game up in multiple platforms, played it a lot, and I still happily picked it up on iOS as soon as it came out. In terms of play differences, they've done a lot of very smart things. Another one of Monster Train's strengths is that they've always built the interface to be friendly to different input. A lot of RDs struggle on consoles because the interface is so dependent on mouse & keyboard that it just can't transition, but Monster Train is great on consoles. That same focus on interface was applied to the iOS version. As an example, one place Monster Train *doesn't* pay well, is on the Steam Deck. It can't use the controllers, so you can only play touchscreen, and the experience is not great. I had been fearful that it was a warning of what the iOS experience would be like. However, literally every frustration I had on the Deck (like making accidental clicks, or inability to preview things) has been elegantly resolved in iOS. I'm a big fan, and a very happy customer.

Please fix iPad version!!!!!!!!!!!. LOVE THE GAME but the edges are cut off so when you can’t see boss stats or target the boss with spells. That’s my only complaint. OTHERWISE 5 stars!!

Awesome challenge and repeatability. Keeps you entertained for a long while

Surprised me. At first, I didn’t like the art because it reminded me of cheap gatcha phone games, BUT DEAR GOD, this game is AMAZING. Very addictive, in a good way. Awesome <3

Bug regarding Apex Imp. There’s a bug regarding apex imp’s skill called armored where he gains rage every time he gains armor. The problem is that I don’t get rage even when I gain armor. Please help. Otherwise, a fun game

Good but makes my iPhone X run hot. Good name, needs more options to reduce graphics though. Why not allow me to disable pointless animations (such as the train sparks/flame or wiggling units)?

Game good. game is good

Great game. Similar to sts

One of my favorites. Super addicting!

The best of the app store. Perfect casual game. Its just amazing, the very best of the roguelite genre. I bought it on three seperate platforms

QOL. The choices in the ice caverns don’t tell me what the artifact effects are. I took something that said “gain 25 hp and gain heartless” but it didn’t tell me what heartless was and it ruined my run.

Good. Good
