Bilt Rewards Comments & Reviews 2026
Not a pleasant first experience. I received the card and I called the number to activate it and a message said to do it online then hung up on me. So I went online and I put the info in 3 times and got an error message every time. After three tries the app gave me a number to call. I called the number and the gentleman told me he can't help me because he doesn't handle that kind of card. Idk why the app gave me that number. He gave me another number to call and another guy answered and told me he will transfer me to people who can help. He transferred me to the original number I called and I was hung up on. I called back and finally a lady spoke to me and was able to get me to someone who could help. I had to speak with the fraud department to get my card activated. I know it's too early to judge but I will say it was not a good start with this card. Also, the lady I spoke with on the phone to open my account told me my credit limit was a certain amount but when I activated my card and went into the app I saw it was $500 less than what she said. That's fine because it's still more than I need but I found it strange that she would tell me one thing and it end up being another. A lot of inconsistencies from the start.
Points for rent paid! Great!. Interest rate about the same as others. 3x points on restaurants is great too. We pay our rent via the Bilt app and Bilt Protect, which simply pulls directly from bank account then they sent payment to apartment. Day or two for processing. Not bad! One big issue we had though. We accidentally paid our $1,880 rent one month but charged it to the card, instead of it pulling directly from checking. When we got our next statement bill the minimum payment due was $1,880, not just 1% of our balance. This was a shocker! Be careful paying rent and use the auto protect option they have. We have 38,560 points in first year of card use, so that’s a free RT airfare from DC to Denver! Free after paying the monthly interest of course!
Word of advice. I like my Bilt card overall, however, my mom also uses a Bilt card and she chose to use the credit reporting tool that they offer which allows you to build credit for paying rent. My mom has over a 780 credit score and has never missed a payment. Recently she received an email from Bilt stating that they were going to negatively report a missed rent to her credit report even though her rent was paid. The reason for this is because she received a referral bonus towards her rent for referring a friend to her apartment complex. Because she had to pay less rent that month and it didn’t add up to the amount that Bilt saw on her lease, they decided to send her an email saying that she needed to prove that she paid her full rent. This is inconvenient and unnecessary to have to prove that you paid your rent just because you received a referral bonus or perhaps your rent was cheaper one month. Additionally once you are enrolled in the credit reporting program there is absolutely no way to cancel it and you’re stuck until the lease is over. Also keep in mind that Bilt uses Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo is known to be the bottom of the barrel in reputable banks.
Horrible security and customer service. First off let’s say you lost or got your card stolen…want to cancel it, lock it or request a new one? Most banking apps make this quick and easy..however with Bilt you have to call their support which by the way may take hours for anyone to even answer and then they may or may not be able to help you. In my experience I had to call support (4 hour wait on tuesday morning) and then a 2 hour wait for Wells Fargo because boot support has no control over the cards and neither do you. Everything you do with this card has to go through Wells Fargo so not only do you need the bilt app but also Wells Fargo but you cannot preform any actions such as locking the card etc the only way to do anything like this is by calling and hopefully getting a hold of someone
My money was taken out of my account without my consent!. I recently got my money taken out of my personal account for the rent fee WITHOUT MY CONSENT from Bilt Rewards!!! Tomorrow is the last day of the rent, and I can’t even talk to this company to get my money back! I have called the APT Management to find out what happened, because I have been paying with my eCheck for the last 4 months. I even gave my personal check in person for this month because we are moving out. When I reached out to our Management, they told me that I should report to the bank for Fraud and stop the transaction immediately, and I did. Make the long story short, I have to go back to the bank tomorrow first thing in the morning again, because I couldn’t get it done today. Also, I have to notify or call all the autopay as well after I get my new account. Currently, my account froze, and I have to cancel my original check. Then, I have to pay and make a Cashier’s check tomorrow from my new account to pay the rent fee! The funny thing is, even our APT Management don’t even have Bilt Rewards contact number as well! All we can do is just to get a ticket from the app and wait for them to contact us. This is totally RIDICULOUS!!!
Be more straightforward!!!. The entire point of me getting this credit card was to build up my credit score thru a necessary life payment. I have had this credit card for 4 years and only now am I finding out thru having to dig thru the app, that the monthly rent payments are NOT automatically reported and that you have to upload your lease. This is fine, but why would BILT not have some sort of reminder email or system sent for people who haven’t enrolled in this super relevant feature?? I get monthly emails for BILT promotions etc but nothing about this. My past 4 years with this card have essentially been useless since this was not widely advertised that you have to manually enroll. BE MORE STRAIGHTFORWARD!
Terrible Customer Service & Fraud. I was excited about this credit card to pay rent, but the overall experience has been horrible. Between system migrations cancelling my rent payment for a month, fraudulent charges on the card not being dealt with in a timely manner (also I only used the card for rent through their system so not sure how fraudulent charges were even made), and the inability to set up auto pay with an account that isn’t Wells Fargo, this credit card is awful. Customer service will pass you to 4+ different departments just to hang up on you without warning. Two CS reps I talked to were incredibly rude and 5/6 were completely unhelpful even though I had a very simple issue. They also make it super difficult to cancel your account, and hung up on me when I called and asked them to cancel it. I’ve never left a review before on any app but this one is so bad I had to say something! Not sure how there are so many 5 star reviews, but BEWARE THIS APP/CARD!!!!!
Really impressed!. Just got my card and just the card itself is pretty cool and how it lets you earn points on your rent, but I have to say something about their customer service chat bot. I don’t know if it’s a bot or a real person but it is so helpful and quick with responses and write responses so easy to understand. I’ve had 1 million questions since I ordered my card and I keep going back to the website to ask the questions on the chat, and it is literally the best! I really want to know if it is a bot or a real person, but that’s the one question it won’t answer😂
Security breach within two months. My apartment management , forced all renters to use the BILT app to make our payments. Making my payment through my Apartment Website before BILT was perfectly fine and nothing happened to my information or my payments. Within two months of being forced to use this BILT app, BILT sent out a notification, and so did my apartment office, stating that there was a security breach with the company BILT. This is absolutely ridiculous, when considering the fact that both the apartment management and BILT itself touted itself on its protective measures of our security and within two months, all of us were compromised and we were forced into the situation. On top of that, if I make a payment to my rent before the auto pay withdraws then I still get a text message and an email stating that there was a problem processing my payments. Yes, of course there’s a problem processing my payment because you are not allowed to take my rent money twice within one month. Fix your app! Fix your company! I would give no stars instead of one if I could.
Impossible to handle fraud. There’s no way to handle fraud or lock your card in the app. I got a text about something weird and responded that I didn’t recognize it. My card gets locked and now I’ve called the number provided about 3 times. All three times I waited forever and still couldn’t talk to someone! After half an hour the system said I had been on hold too long and disconnected me. Additionally on balance and autopay… The way the app puts your balance in, makes it hard to understand what you actually owe because they don’t put any pending transactions on your balance like some other cards do. It makes it difficult to know how much money I owe. My Apple Card gets around this by showing the total balance, but only allowing you to pay off everything that is not pending. Auto pay was really confusing to set up. For some reason Bilt can’t do it in its own app so you have to go create a Wells Fargo account and there’s almost no instructions on how to set up auto pay in that Wells Fargo portal. Many cards that are run by other issuing banks can set up auto pay on their own so I don’t understand why Bilt has this limitation.
An absolute game changer!. I have been in the credit card game for a while now and have cards with most big banks. The problem though, is that most point earning cards either come with a hefty annual fees or are tied to specific points redeemed only for a certain airline/hotel. Bilt addresses both of those issues while also allowing me to earn points while paying rent. Not only do they have partnerships with properties but also provide alternatives like a checking account number to pay rent on non partner portals. Too good to be true for a no annual fee card.
**Title: Terrible Customer Service Experience** app. If you're considering Bilt Rewards, think again. As countless other reviews will confirm, their customer service is nothing short of abysmal. They offer excuses instead of solutions and provide vague, unhelpful responses that do nothing to address your concerns and it will never be result. Believe what I’m saying. I’ve had an incredibly frustrating experience with Bilt Rewards. Their customer support is virtually non-existent. Reaching a live person is useless. There is no phone support, and their chat system is run by an AI that’s utterly incapable of resolving any real issues. I haven't had an account balance update in a month (you read correctly, IN A MONTH), and despite my repeated attempts to reach out for support, I have been left completely in the dark. If you're looking for a good-working service and a support team that'll sort things out when you need them to, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
Best credit card out there for anyone who rents. You can get up to 50 days to pay your rent interest free plus earn points on your rent payments. There’s also double points on the first day of the month bonus points on the first day of the month as well as multiple points on various categories, which can also be doubled on the first day of the month there are probably more valuable points out there, but there is no other way that I’m aware of that you can get float on your rent as well as earning points. Just make sure to pay it off so you don’t end up paying interest on your rent
I despise this app. The interface is awful and overwhelmingly plastered with rewards advertisements and calls to tet you to enroll your credit card for points. Whereas the one thing people are using the app most for (to pay rent) is smallest and located on a bottom menu bar grayed out and second on the list. Instead what is highlighted white is a rewards menu button. I appreciate the “rewards” but I just want to pay my rent. I don’t need an option for art collections, or home buying, or elite status travel plans. I just want to pay my rent and leave. And the one thing I wish I could do which is check my rent ledger for a detailed breakdown, can only be done on the desktop version of the app. Additionally the app does not get updated when you leave a prior apartment complex so it’s your responsibility to navigate their unintuitive disaster of an app to figure out how to get rid of it. I don’t normally leave bad reviews but this app truly has no interest in the main purpose of its users needs and instead pushes their reward plans and Bilt credit card offers above all else. I really wish property management companies would stop going with this program.
Points. I only applied to get the card because I wanted to use my points towards rent. I saw that my apartment complex was on their Reward Alliance list. While when I tried to make a payment & use my points I wasn’t able to, called customer service & they stated my apartment wasn’t on the list. That it was other locations but not mine. I thought it was misleading & now I believe in order to use my points my only option is for me to make a payment & Bilt will send a check to my leasing office. Which is going to be an inconvenience if I do that, because I’m going to have to follow up to make sure they receive the check & to have the stress thinking, if it’ll arrive on time, if it’ll be correct or what if it gets lost. Not what I expected unfortunately.
Great app and service. To comment mostly on the app here (because the credit card and service it provides is great through and through), it’s a wonderful experience from the minute you open it, which will be often, because it’s more than just an accounting of your transactions. The articles about travel destinations and how to get value are fun for the point newbie to read and the gallery of gifts you can purchase with your reward points are truly unique. What I like most is that the app just works and has a simple layout. It’s easy to track my rent check payment status from check printing, to mailing, to depositing by my landlord. There’s options to auto-pay and automate from your bank account so there’s really no heavy lifting on the users end, just set it up once, use the card a few times a month, and earn some automatic points for making the purchase you already make every month anyway! Thanks BILT!
Unreliable and No Customer Service Number. My apartment complex promoted BILT so I jumped onboard because who doesn’t love rewards?! I set up auto payment for my rent and on month two my complex emails me a 30 day notice to vacate and adds a late fee because my payment wasn’t sent in. I had perfect payment history with the complex and had just renewed my lease the week prior. BILT attempted to pull early hours of the 1st before my child support and monthly transfer from my business account went into my personal account, a SINGLE attempt to pull and then payment attempt was cancelled. I didn’t even know it happened until the 4th when my leasing office emailed. I’ve been waiting for 2 days for the “zen desk customer service” to respond. There is no customer service number and yet we trust them with the responsibility of paying our rent and handling that much money, along with our bank account info. Ridiculous. My rent money had been in there by 1030am after transferred on the 1st and it didn’t even attempt to pull again that day, most companies attempt 3 times. Funny how with me being solely responsible, my rent was never late. Additionally, it would take SIX YEARS for me to be able to purchase a simple flight from ATL to ORL with my rewards! This app is a joke. It caused so much unnecessary stress.
Why…tell me why!?!?. I accidentally applied for the card trying to make my rent payment (because apartment is always pushing new junk). So…surprise surprised I got a new credit card card in the mail, that I never wanted and not even enough to cover 2k for rent and the included bills that go along with rent. Credit hit, app cannot even give me the amount I owe for overpriced crappy dwelling, and then there is so much garbage on the app that it makes me even more disgusted that I have the card. I would never applied to Wells Fargo bank if I had known that, I was even getting a credit card, instead of paying rent through this convoluted system. On a good note… the card itself is one of the really cool metal cards, not as good quality as the Apple Card is, but it is metal. Gooooo team BILT…fail!
Bilt. Super disappointed with this new card. Hearing that renters could take advantage of the point system while paying your monthly rent certainly sounded like a good thing. However the links for the app and the payment processing system via Wells Fargo is extremely poor. Not at all user friendly. The customer service is laughable. Trying to get a person on the phone, any customer service choice, is a joke. The assistance has been less than poor and highly unacceptable. This is not easy to use, payment options are limited. Trying to decide whether or not to just cancel the card altogether.
Search Finally Over. I’ve been wanting to pay my extra high Cali rent with a credit card for a while without having to pay an additional $83 processing fee. The fact that I can still pay rent without using the credit limit that I was approved for to keep credit card utilization down is golden!! In the words of the Uncle Denzel Washington “I’m leaving with something “ … award points and being able to transfer as well. Who doesn’t like to be rewarded ! S/O to my friend who recommended after I stopped searching .. appreciate you Lucas! I’ve shared with friends since approval as well. I hope this card is around as long as I’m paying rent anywhere and treats me well lol
A small problem. I just got BILT so I can earn points on my rent payments. I’ve run into a small issue though, I received an email notification that my card arrived in the mail when in fact it hasn’t. I then received a notification that I would be able to earn 5x the points if I make 5 transactions within 5 days but I don’t have the physical card yet. I was however able to add the card to my Apple Pay so I can still use it that way. There also isn’t an option in the email to notify Wells Fargo that my card did not actually arrive or that there is a delivery issue, that would be really nice. I have that option in the emails from other credit card platforms I use. Other than that, BILT is a great idea and I look forward to using BILT more often! Just a small problem, thanks!
The Worst Banking Customer Service Ever. I recently switched my bank account in September, and on October 1st, I discovered that my auto payment wasn’t going to work, which I had no idea about. However, I immediately made a one-time payment to avoid any issues. Days later, I found out the payment didn’t go through. I was told it was due to insufficient funds, which is completely false—I confirmed with my bank and have proof that I had more than enough balance on the day I made the payment. I contacted customer service again, and despite all the evidence, they still gave me the same excuse. Their reps were incredibly rude, showed no empathy, and were extremely impatient. To make matters worse, I was charged interest on a payment that I clearly made and had funds for. To add to the confusion, I spoke to someone in the morning, but later in the day, I was told that the office hours are only Monday to Friday. So who exactly was I speaking to earlier? This experience has been exhausting and frustrating, especially when I did nothing wrong. I’ve never had such horrible service with any other bank, and my issue is still unresolved. All I’m left with is frustration. Avoid this bank at all costs if you expect decent customer service and a smooth banking experience!
Good idea, execution can be improved. Being able to accumulate points on rent is a greatl idea. However, it is hard to use the points efficiently. I tried to use the points to buy an airline ticket. It turns out Bilt uses Expedia which totally messes up my reservation and I had to spend hours fixing it. This is not totally Expedia’s fault, but part the airlines’ which actively undermine these third party services. The bottom line, I was sold a Delta flight to Italy and paid extra to have the seats assigned, but then I could not get the seat assigned because the carrier was actually another company and it would not honor seat assignment on a ticket soled by Delta. Bilt needs to switch to a better provider or develop its own. Right now I do not trust Bolt’s travel reservation system and I am switching in part to other cards.
System error leading to late payment fee. I have autopay set-up and usually it takes 2 business days for them to post the statement online from the scheduled date. So, with that being said, I received notification of payment being processed on Jan 3rd and on January 6th I yet didn’t see the charges on bank statement. I visited website and it showed next due rent for month of February and I was thought, this could be just taking longer this time to process the payment. Two days later, payment not processed yet. I reached to support and they said it failed due insufficient fund which isn’t correct either. At least you could update your system so I wasn’t fooled by trusting Bilt Rewards. I asked for assistance to correct penalty fees since system is disguising but support team didn’t care and simply told me to deal with leasing office. Then, why are you a middle man!?
Awful Customer Service - Do Not Use This App. I just got this card and on my first ever attempt to use it to pay rent I am already having issues. My rent check was mailed but never received and the funds have already been pulled from my account. I now have no money to pay rent or a check to pay rent with because I have no idea where the check is. They provide tracking but it’s not detailed. When I try calling customer service NO ONE helps and I can never get a real person on the line. After 2 days of trying to get someone from Bilt, I’ve had to escalate to Wells Fargo who are the only people who answer callas and actually help. I have now had to escalate to get a payment reversal because essentially Bilt has taken my money with no service provided. I thought this card would be cool and fun but it’s actually a nightmare and I don’t recommend this AT ALL. I will be cancelling the card after this because this is actually insane. I am so glad I have an understanding landlord or else I’d be stuck laying late fees or dealing with a 3 day notice. DO NOT USE THIS CARD.
Almost very good system…. I’ve just completed my second rent payment through the Built app and have also received the credit card which I have used several times. Since the rental payment service is the meat and potatoes of the offering I will only review this portion of the offering. Overall I give this an 8.5 out of 10. The app is easy to use- simple to navigate and works as it claims it should. I now have an easy, safe and reliable way to pay my rent while receiving points- what’s not to love? Previously - because my rent payments are above what Wells Fargo would allow with Zelle payments I was unable to make monthly automatic on line payments- and now I can and I get points for using it. The only draw back- and it is NOT insignificant is that once you program your auto payments the only field that you cannot edit is the $ payment amount. So my rent just went up and i CANNOT edit the transfer amount and as of yet I have been unable to delete my original auto payment to make a new one. So now I have had to turn OFF auto pay and manually send the rent each month. This is a minor oversight on the part of web developers but has an outsized impact on users. Once this issue gets cleared up I would be happy to rate this app a 10.
Game changing and fun!. BILT has totally changed the game for renters! As soon as I heard about getting points for paying rent that can be used towards travel, i had to jump in. It was a no brainer! The app makes it very easy to sign up for the BILT rewards credit card. Once you receive your card, the process/instructions to setup the rent payment is very easy and all the info is right in the app. Points are updated as transactions are posted which is great compared to other companies where you don’t see your points for months! The app has cool blog posts on travel ideas and BILT as a company just makes it a fun experience being using the card. Few feedback points for the app. I wish it would sync more with the Wells Fargo features directly in the BILT app. To see statements, set up payment for the card, view billing cycles, instant transaction notifications, card settings, etc. all need to be done via the Wells Fargo account. I know WF is their payment processor but some better integration with the BILT app for these features would be nice. Setting up the Wells Fargo end of the card required some work and isn’t as straightforward but hoping this improves over time. Overall love the BILT card, love their support, and love the insta challenges they have to keep it fun and interesting. Getting points for rent is great! Thanks BILT!
Not that great. You can get rewarded 500 points a month if you split your rent payment in half but that adds up to like $2-5. If you use your checking account, it takes them 24-48 hours to withdraw the money. Normally around 36 hours at like 2-3 am. so make sure to have your account open and funds available or else you’ll have to pay the NSF return feed to your renter. If you use your debit, they’ll charge you a processing fee of $9 and change. If you use credit is $4 and change. The processing fees to pay with a debit card is way too high but the changes of not having enough funds in your checking is even more worse. It’s a lose lose situation. I’ve used BILT for roughly 3 months and only have $20 from paying thousands in rent. ($1300/month). Is it even worth it?
The biggest pro but also a major con. Just having my rent automated and not needing to worry about remembering to write and drop off a physical check to my landlord every month is a HUGE win for my ADHD self. Plus I can earn points?! 😍 definitely recommend for those reasons, but…. Big BUT… the onboarding process where you need to make both a Bilt account *and* a Wells Fargo account and set up auto payments in two separate places was confusing. I didn’t realize I hadn’t paid the other transactions. My rent was auto-paying. I always set up autopay because, once again, ADHD. I had only charged like $150 to the card in 3 months so it wasn’t a significant amount that I noticed, until my credit score dropped 157 points. It’s been an absolute nightmare trying to fix this. I was able to get the late fees refunded after several phone calls of Bilt and Wells Fargo passing me back and forth like a game of telephone ping pong not sure who was supposed to handle what, but no short term solution to revive my credit yet. Hopefully it rebounds by the time I need it for something (glad I decided to wait to buy a car). Turns out my SS number was typo-ed somewhere in the setup process and now I need to go into a Wells Fargo to gain access to my account, which is only open while I’m working 🫠 So be careful! Take your time to do the setup process. It’s definitely worth it if you do it right, but it’s pretty confusing and can have MAJOR consequences if you don’t set it up right.
Unable to Apply for Card. I was denied for my first application since my credit was frozen. I called and was asked to unfreeze it for 24 hours. I did, but they tried to pull after the 24 hour mark (note, they need a 72 hour unfreeze, despite being told by wellsfargo 24 hours). After I tried to reapply, but there is no option too. The apply button disappears. I looked it up and other users reported being told to open an account with a different email. I attempted to do so, but you cannot re-use the phone number. I asked support to delete my old account, they did not delete by deactivated it. Meaning my number is still being used, and I cannot open a new account. Now I’m stuck, and can’t sign in and can’t apply. Update: Bilt Support has been trying to resolve the issue over the last week. They have not been able to resolve it yet, but they have been very diligent and customer friendly.
Good CC, nightmare app. The credit card itself is great, no complaints really. If anything, it was confusing at first. I tried to make a car payment as well as rent (fyi, can’t do that). The card is metal, which I like also. The app is an absolute nightmare. When I first got it just a mere few months ago, it wasn’t terrible. Now it takes forever to open, it’s so busy, I can never find my balance, just ugh. The benefits? Well, instead of offering more realistic things, they offer Blade discounts (uber for helicopter rides, I think?) and all fitness class type things. Please just add more point bonuses for travel, or just point multipliers in general. I’ve spent so much money and it’s like “congrats you can use your $150 balance to pay your bill” or something, lolz. Current problem is that it just closes in the middle of trying to do the monthly rent game. This, after three (?) updates in the last week and a half? Please, please listen to the reviews and streamline this app, take away all the extra adverts and celebrity cameo stuff. We just want an app that works.
Game Changer…... This new way of paying rent and being rewarded has taken over. The fact that i can earn travel, food and other rewards just by doing something that needs to be done monthly anyway…I was so glad to see my apartment complex management offer this great way of paying rent. It’s a win-win for tenants and mgt. And the ability to use points earned to pay for rent ….there is no other program like it. It’s very user friendly and engaging. Thanks for developing a new age rent paying program that actually rewards you for doing something you do anyway….paying your rent.
Brilliant idea well implemented. The US Congress discriminates against renters and in favor of homeowners by allowing homeowners to deduct their mortgage interest and local property tax from their taxes, while providing nothing equivalent to renters, which is particularly unjust since homeowners tend to be wealthier than renters (mainly because wealthier people are more likely to buy homes; home ownership on average isn’t actually a particularly good investment, and wouldn’t be so popular if it weren’t subsidized by tax-payers). Bilt provides a significant benefit to renters by allowing them to get points for their largest expense and to build up their credit history. They also try to make rent day fun and engage in other clever marketing. It’s great to see a financial product that makes money by providing a service that helps a large number of people.
Extremely Disappointed with Customer Service. I am extremely disappointed with the customer service at BILT. I made my June rental payment on June 1st using BILT by linking my Chase Checking account. The next day, I received an email from the BILT support team stating that there was a link failure and the amount was not deducted or would be reverted within 3-5 days if reverted by chance. Knowing that my payment didn’t go through, I attempted another payment by linking my Chase savings account. Now, both the June 1st and June 3rd rental amounts have been paid. Upon contacting BILT customer support, I was told that I need to communicate with the support team via email, which takes forever to get a response. This situation is incredibly frustrating and has caused unnecessary stress. I’m out of cash for this month. I expected better service and quicker resolution from BILT.
WEAK SECURITY PLENTY OF FRAUD RISK. I love supporting up and rising companies and the idea behind this company is great. EXCEPT my account has managed to get hacked not once but twice. The first time around their security measures were so weak that the person committing fraud was able to change my phone number so I got ZERO correspondence on the fraudulent transactions happening. I only discovered the fraud once I logged into my account. They closed my card, changed my password, and added a verbal password. I gave them a second chance. And a month later SAME issue except this time the fraud clearly happened by someone getting access to the app. It’s very very clear they need to raise the security measures for their accounts. Consider this your warning. Stay away. Both cases were so bad I closed my account and didn’t care about the damage it did to my credit score.
Not worth the effort. I like playing the points game as much as the next person but there are rules. The first rule is that you make your payments on time otherwise there’s no point, since the interest and late fees wipe out any credits. Even though we pay a lot in rent every month living in a HCOL area, this app/card isn’t worth it because signing up for auto pay is very difficult and can’t be done through the app. I’m assuming they want it to be difficult so people miss payments so they can hit you with fees. Next, they have been the subject of multiple fraud attempts, so they lock our card and tell us they’ll send another. They don’t. We call because we need it to be active to pay our rent and make 5 purchases in order to be eligible for the points from rent. They said oh, we won’t send you another card, we’ll just activate your old card that possibly had fraudulent charges on it. Try to use it, still doesn’t work. We ask if we’ll still be eligible for points, they say, not my department, can’t help. Would not recommend this to anyone.
Such a cool concept, excited to see what the future holds. When I heard about this card, thought it was too good to be true. Even though there is no traditional sign up bonus, having inly held the card a couple months there have been a number of opportunities to earn bonus points. Because of this I’m already half way to there silver tier where you cans start earning interest on points The app works and I’ve had no issues with it although I am excited to see what they do in the future to further improve the UX. (E.g. You need to track your status, card opps, etc in the Bilt Rewards app, but must use Wells Fargo to make payments / see latest transactions. So, not most space efficient solution.) But, for me, the benefits way outweigh the smaller inconveniences.
App is fantastic if it was accessible. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy this app. However, I am a legally blind user that navigates my phone with the VoiceOver screen reader, and I cannot easily use the app independently because a lot of the screens either don’t have correct labels on the buttons or the page doesn’t read at all. For instance, the screen reader wouldn’t read the login screen, so I had to turn on screen recognition in order for the phone to guess what’s on the screen. As soon as I click the login button, I am able to turn off screen recognition to login. Another example occurs when I’m trying to click the confirm button on the page where you remove the house address to add a new one. In this instance, I had to ask one of my sighted friends to click the button for me. This shouldn’t be this hard to use the app. I would strongly advise the app developers to consult with people, who use a screen reader daily, to improve this app. A lot of blind and low vision individuals pay rent every month, and they will not be able to use this app if they are not technologically savvy. I hope to be able to recommend this app to blind and low vision users in the future, but as of right now, I cannot recommend this app to any of my friends because it’s way too difficult to navigate the app using a screen reader.
This a review of the product, not specifically the app. Be very careful getting this card. 1. You have to make several qualifying purchases on top of the rent to get points for rent or you forfeit. 2. Whenever you pay your bill, it takes up to 10 days to show up, so you show an updated balance, but your limit isn’t updated, so when you go pay your rent again, it fails! I have multiple credit cards and not one takes so long to reflect balance payment. I find this sketchy and dishonest. Today is the 9th, I paid my balance on the 1st and it’s still not updated so my rent payment failed apparently. This is ridiculous. The card has its benefits but please do more reading and research than I did because it’s been a PITA.
Awful customer service. The concept of getting points for rent is great, but any credit card company needs to come prepared to have a well functioning customer service department. Getting through to customer service is a nightmare with Bilt. The number on the phone doesn’t direct you to a human - it’s automated rerouting system will keep rerouting you to one robot after the other and will not let you speak to a human no matter what. I was trying to get through with a question about redeeming my points and after following the prompts, I was redirected back to the very first step. It’s extremely frustrating and you will stay on the line for a very long amount of time without getting access to a human. I then tried to email them and made sure to list out all my questions in one go. I emailed on 9/1 and didn’t receive a response till 9/9, at which time the rep only responds to 1/5 of my questions. Just awful customer service overall.
Wanted to Love the Card; Unfortunate Customer Support. I absolutely wanted to love this card. Right after I signed up, I told several other people about it. One of those people was my girlfriend. She signed up the following week, but mixed up the links and it didn’t get connected with my referral. I contacted support looking to resolve this, and they told me she needed to reach out. So I awkwardly brought it up with her, and she did. The response was they still refused to grant the referral points even though we could prove I had referred her. What an unfortunate experience with the customer support. I haven’t decided whether I’ll keep the card after this, but I certainly won’t be recommending it, knowing that the support experience is so poor. Edit: after a few more back-and-forths and a tweet that caught their eye, I finally got the referral bonus. So they did the right thing. It just took a lot more effort than it should have.
HORRIBLE. I wish the complex I live at would’ve never chosen BILT! You can’t speak to a real human. Communication with BILT is only through chat and through email and they continue to give you the same scripted message over and over. For seven days I have not been able to use my American Express or my Visa to pay my rent and they give me the same messages over and over. Sure is suspicious to me that you can’t speak to a human. I checked the reviews and I’ve seen so many others say they could not use their credit cards to pay their rent either. I wish my complex would’ve never gone with BILT! Day seven and I still can’t use my American Express or Visa to pay my rent and they keep saying they’re going to escalate the situation and then they email me and nobody knows what they’re doing! Same scripted messages over and over! What a shame!
worst rent payment processing. I am obligated to use Bilt through my leasing company, but the interface is terrible. Firstly, I applied for their charge card (I love points!), however since I was MOVING (aka the whole reason for using their system) they were unable to validate my address, asked me to fax documents to a number that was not able to receive fax documents, and then proceeded to cancel my application an hour after speaking to their customer service. They have no other wsy (email, chat) to submit these documents. I also signed up to auto-pay 50% of our rent balance as I split with my husband, however after he makes his payment Bilt intelligently switches my auto pay to 50% of our remaining balance, leaving a quarter of our balance unpaid. Overall it’s a great model that I was excited for but the system has way to many glitches to be user friendly and successful.
Love the Card, Don’t like the App. Long story short, the card is fantastic- but the app is just okay. My first complaint is that I want to see the page with my card’s balance (the Wallet tab) when I first open the app, but instead it takes you to Bilt’s Rewards tab, which is annoying and kind of confusing. Especially considering the Rewards tab looks like some social media home page and not an actual credit card app. My second complaint is that it stops your music (assuming you’re listening to music) when you first open the app, which is annoying too. My main gripe though is that I can’t really customize my notifications with the app- I don’t want to be texted and emailed each time I do something, like make a payment towards my balance or pay my rent, and I wish I could change those settings in the app. I’m sure the app is in its infancy stages, but the user experience is a bit mediocre.
Rent - Mortgage. If you’re self employed or don’t make a lot of money, this BILT WILL HELP YOU GET A HOME LOAN BY PROVING THAT YOU PAY YOUR RENT - MORTGAGE ON TIME! The best part for a lot of people suffering from the economy, is that you can use BILT to pay your entire rent or mortgage and all you need ito do is pay your BILT CC payment on time. It’s a normal CC balance, not the full amount of the loan. The customer service is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST I’VE EVER EXPERIENCED!!! The points are also amazing! You can shop, travel or even use your points towards the rent / mortgage payment. I personally think that this is the best CC I’ve ever had. You can use it for purchases, cash advance’s just like any other credit credit card. IF YOU’RE STRUGGLING BECAUSE OF THE ECONOMY YOU NEED THIS CARD!
Great Idea but BEWARE. God forbid you have any issues with this card. Built MasterCard does not answer the phone at all. And in case no one tells you MasterCard and BILT MasterCard are two totally SEPARATE things. The automated system will transfer you to MasterCard only for you to be told that they cannot help you at all. And to call the BILT MasterCard employees. How that makes any sense whatsoever baffles me. Attempting to reach out to anyone in Bilt always result in zero communication or the fact that nobody knows what they’re doing. Do you even exist? This is the exact reason why I left Comcast. Great idea for a card if a functional company had control of it.
Card is great, app needs reorganization. My recommendation for the app would be to make all the information about balances and payment be the first thing seen when the app is opened. A good credit card will show the card’s balance, due date, what you’ve paid so far towards that balance/how much remains of the balance. The rewards page should not be the home page. If that information is hard to find and/or not clear, it will cause me to miss payments. If I miss payments due to poor app design, I will cancel the card and delete the app. If the design is clear, I will be a happy, loyal customer. See Chase and Amex apps for examples of clear design and utility. Second, The Bilt Rewards rewards home page is so jumbled and crowded, it’s hard to tell what is going on. I just skip over that tab every time. That should be simplified and revamped. Thanks for listening to my feedback.
Do you like ads?. I have no choice but to use this bloated data collection app for rent payment. It is a convenient platform to present you with ads for their products; credit cards, contests, etc. Even on the “Pay Rent” page you are presented not with your wallet as the default view, but an offer to sign up for a Bilt branded credit card. Planning on using a reward credit card you already have? Plan on paying a significantly higher rate than if you use your checking. I under stand that there are fees, but even there they are making money. 3% more to use a credit card when it is likely they have fees of 2% or less to process transactions. The 5 star reviews seem suspiciously enthusiastic. If you are going to write fake reviews, at least write them as if a real person wrote them. When was the last time you saw such effusive praise for a rent payment app. At any rate, I am stuck with this. It is at least two more steps to pay rent than on the previous platform we used. I guess I can console myself that this is another area where the multi-state corporation that “manages” our property is able to make money while Bilt mines our data for monetization.
Poor quality product; useless customer support. Got the card some time back and just had my first rent payment come about. Tried to pay, and got an email saying that the transaction failed due to balance restriction. Ok, fair enough, no biggie. I reached out to customer service to ask if this means that this transaction will not go through no matter what now, and they assured me that that is the case. Ok, great! I turned on the debit feature that draws automatically from my debit account and paid my rent again - smooth sailing, everything goes through. I’m checking my checking account a few days later to see that both charges went through, and that I had paid rent twice. Great! I reach out to customer support asking them why they deceived me and they basically feed me nonsense about “oh well it tried again after you turned on the debit pay” - remember, I asked if I can safely assume the transaction won’t go through no matter what. As a consolation prize they offered me some measly 1,000 points (which is less that the $ interest I would’ve earned on my rent amount that I ended up paying a month in advance essentially cause of their double pay. Useless customer support and non-intuitive product hidden behind a shiny UI.
Horrible customer service. I would give this -5 stars if I could. I recently renewed my lease and the company entered my email wrong so I was unable to access my account. I was unable to be connected to someone on the phone the only help I was able to receive help was through the chat with bilt feature which was unhelpful. When I explained my situation I was waiting to be connected to a specialist for hours. And I have not been able to resolve this issue after 4 days. I ended up having to bring a cashiers check to pay my rent so I would not be penalized and get a late fee. Then after I already paid my rent and the check was scanned in as the account says. Bilt went ahead and auto payed my rent. So now I have paid my rent twice. I am beyond frusterated and I do not feel like my information is secure. I do not feel like I have the tech support I need. I am 25 and I am very tech savvy. For me to not be able to troubleshoot this is unacceptable. I hope people will read this response if they are thinking about getting a card from this company because I will be deleting my account and paying my apartment complex directly from now on.

Min 5 times of use each month to keep points I’ve earned?. I got the bilt credit card because it advertised as turning rent into points that I could use for something else, but now you guys sent me an email telling me to use this card at least 5 times in seven days to keep the points I’ve earned? Let’s just be honest, other credit card companies such as Amex offers higher earnings on the same categories and points never expire. What’s your catch other than the rent points with no transaction fees? I could just pay my rent with e-check each month to avoid the transaction fees while earning higher points with other credit card companies🤌🏻.
Terrible customer support, causes failed rent payments. The app and concept here are great. Unfortunately, this is very much in the “growing pains” stage where they are still getting kinks worked out. When you unfortunately have one of those issues that causes your rent payment to be late (even though it’s on autopay and you have plenty of money in your bank account), Bilt makes it virtually impossible to speak to a human being, let alone someone with the ability to actually help you resolve your problem. Their online Zendesk ticketing system is a convenient way to avoid actually providing any customer service. The automated text systems are useless, and you’re likely to get stuck in a Comcast-esque endless loop of traversing through phone trees and getting transferred from one operator to another. If they can ever actually make the product fully functional, I’d be happy to use it again. In the meantime, I would avoid it and save yourself the headache of spending hours on the phone with customer support and online various chatbots just to be told there’s nothing they can do.
Bilt is convenient. Just thought I write a review. To be honest I never really write reviews for apps. Truthfully I only use it once a month to pay rent for my apartment and it gets the job done and never had any issues. It seems to build your profile in more ways than other apps. Other apps I’ve used to pay rent are small third party portals where Bilt feels like you get a high five and gives back for staying on top of your bills. And on top of it you can boost your credit. Pretty cool.
Can’t help but wonder why this app has to push so many updates. I can’t help but wonder why this app has to push an update nearly every day constantly. Why not just do quality instead of quantity? And it’s kind of weird looking at the reviews people praising earning points for something they have to pay anyway. Even with an expensive rent it takes years just paying rent to get a meaningful amount of points that actually add up to anything. Otherwise really the only way you get any useful amount of points as with the branded card associated with built it seems.
Total disappoinment bilt 2.0 lost its purpose. Previously, Bilt 1.0 worked as a real credit card: you could use it for payments and actually leverage real credit. With Bilt 2.0, that’s gone. Now it just pulls money from your bank account the next day; it’s not credit, it doesn’t build credit history, and in practice it’s useless. They completely removed the core value of the card, turning what used to be a functional product into something meaningless. The app sometimes doesn’t even respond, and any attempt to get clarification from support is frustrating. Hopefully it works for someone, but in my experience, it’s a huge step backward. If you’re looking for a real credit card or a way to build your credit, Bilt 2.0 won’t help. This change feels like a scam for those of us who trusted the original product.
Love The cash back!. I’ve been using Bilt to pay my rent and I’m honestly impressed. Earning points on something I already pay every month feels like free rewards. The app is easy to use, payments are smooth, and I love that it helps build my credit while earning points at the same time. I also like that there’s no fee to pay rent, which is a big plus compared to other cards. The rewards add up fast, and I can use them for travel, dining, or even rent. If you pay rent every month, this is a smart card to have. Highly recommended!
Updates for bug fixes don’t fix bugs. As often as I update this app, the performance actually gets worse. The most recent update, I can’t access the home delivery feature. Apart from the scrolling showing me same items twice as it has forever, it freezes even more and straight up crashes the app now. With every update, the one thing that changes is the interface. It gets more and more complicated to use each time. Harder to find the things I’m looking for within the app. The old UI looked fine and was clear. Why change it? Stick to a clean, straightforward design, quit changing it, or at least actually fix the crashing and bugs before messing with design.
Great rewards, poor support. I love the Bilt card because it allows me to earn points on rent. At first, Bilt made rent days fun - with games and different transfer bonuses. Now it's really lame. Though, the transfer partners and points redemption is still decent. The most annoying thing is that they recently updated their BillPay feature and it reset my account settings so that my rent went on my credit card balance, rather than how it was before with BiltProtect, it could pull the rent amount directly from my linked checking account. It took me forever to find the BiltProtect settings and turn it on again. The app changes every month so it's hard to find things. It's also impossible to get in contact with a live customer service person.
Ridiculous. Terrible forced rewards - the landlord now requires us to use this app with no other option to pay rent. The website does not work - and the app itself is a huge ad that has little to do with your property. Of course there are big fees to pay over the app using a card. The homepage lists ‘dining’ ‘experiences’ ‘parking’ ‘ride share’ ‘pharmacy’ - what does any of that have to do with my lease. This whole thing is another way to nickel and dime us. Every month the app struggles to actually find my rent payment. It does not always load - I’ve had to call the office and it is nerve racking to send thousands over an app that only sometimes recognizes your lease - did 170k people really review this brand new app all giving 5 stars - doubtful
Faulty systems costing us money, no communication. This company took over the rent payments for the apartments I lived in and I would pay my rent on the first but they would take 5 days to pull the money resulting in me getting late fees. And I moved out last month but they are trying to charge me a full months rent atm, they don’t have a phone number just a chat bot and no matter the problem they don’t do anything they just blame the property owners with no solution, not to mention my rent payments are different amounts each month for some reason my rent is now a different amount each month. This is not isolated each of my neighbors has complained about the same issues. Unprofessional, money hungry, non communicative. I kept the screen shots of it all
Good app, UI needs work. App overall is good, can be a bit busy with the information but ok once you get used too. Biggest complaint I have is the statement balance is rather confusing. Instead of there being a clear indicator if your statement is paid off, it just shows the date of your last payment, and you need to see if that is after the statment date and if they all total the right amount. A green checkbox like the Chase app has would make it much more readable!
Bad UX. The app is really hard to navigate. Everything is munged together - experiences, rent day perks, points, wallet - there’s no hierarchical categorization of benefits, perks, rewards, account management. It’s terribly confusing, and this is coming from someone that has built consumer facing mobile apps for e-commerce and hospitality. Additionally, the app performs terribly / crashes under the traffic when rent day perks go live. And on top of that there are not enough spaces / classes in NYC for the rent day work out classes. It shouldn’t be first come first serve. Give me a free class once per month at the time/location of my choosing on rent day. Why am I bothering to pay for a palladium card and gold status to compete for 1 of 10 spots at the class time of your choosing among hundreds if not thousands of other card holders?
Just another day of corporate corruption. Exploitation for profit. Tried to manually add checking account, error message endless loop: Failed to initiate microdeposit verification with treasury. Tried to go into privacy settings and toggle off instant link, error message: your opt-out request could not be completed. please try again later. Tried to access chat (their bot, not an agent) endless loop with no solution to any issues. disable neighborhood rewards, error message: same thing.. your opt-out request could not be completed. please try again later. disable credit education services, error message: your opt-out request could not be completed. please try again later. Clearly, Bilt Rewards is corrupt. Their system is designed to collect metadata from you to feed to their algorithms and sell for profit to third-party equity investors. This company stinks of deregulation by lobbyists and political corruption. Congress sold out America and everyone else, which is why Europe and the World is fleeting U.S. corporations. I will be submitting a Whistleblower Complaint about my experience in hopes regulatory authorities and so on can be informed about issues clients of this service are facing. This is why Sell America is taking precedence and America is losing friendships and strategic partnerships across the World. Good riddance.
SCAM. Do not use this app. I downloaded it to use American Express to pay my rent, as I’m trying to gain my bonus miles on the card. Everything seemed easy enough and went through properly until I realized days later that they had not charged my card. Upon confirming the routing numbers they had given me, everything was imputed correctly on my end and THEY had an error on their end causing my rent to not be paid and incurring a $130 late fee charge. Built customer service was extremely unhelpful and did not resolve the problem. Very disappointed in this company, their customer service, and their integrity to own up to their mistakes. My rent had never been pain late, even one time, until today. Incredibly discouraging and makes me think they need to be reported to the BBB as it appears they are a scam. Do NOT use.
1st rent payment out & 1st rent payment missed. Just got my brand new obsidian BILT card. I was excited to start earning points for rent so I set up my account and made sure to request a check early because I know there is a delivery time of about a week. I ordered my check on the 20th …. Now on the 5th and my check never came. Now it’s late, I have to pay a late fee, AND an expedite fee if I want a new check to come next day. I also have to wait 5-7 business days to get my rent money back for the 1st check that NEVER came. Just fantastic is’nt? Oh and apparently there is a service charge that can get added for processing your rent payment. It’s my first time so I guess it got waived (tbh not sure why it’s cancelled out, I’m just guessing) but thats something else I have to look forward to…
Search Finally Over.
Blind People Have Credit Cards Too. Unfortunately, accessibility for blind users seems to have been all but forgotten by this app developer. At first I was confused because in the earlier iteration of the Bilt Card, I was able to get a Braille version which made it seem like they cared. But as it turns out, that was all Wells Fargo and had nothing to do with Bilt at all, which makes much more sense given the struggles I am other blind people I know have had with this card. This app is unresponsive with voice over for the majority of its features and I am barely able to pay my bill, let alone take advantage of the other benefits I hear so much about. Please invest in accessibility testers and developers who understand how to provide a meaningful experience for everyone who wants to take part in the Bilt ecosystem.
Enjoying the card!! But some hiccups.. As I definitely do appreciate this app and its creators for allowing people to earn points on rent payments that are criminally too high, I recently tried to book a room, using my points, through the travel option and somehow, my room didn’t confirm & I wasn’t able to get the room. I called & the agent did give me helpful information. I’m really hoping that this was just a one-time hiccup and it doesn’t happen again, as I am really excited to use my points to travel & without this major function, the card would become relatively worthless. Thanks!
App needs work. App has some cool features but makes it difficult to look at previous charges. I can understand how useful it is to find charges based on the month but it would be better to have the option to see all transactions at once. I’ve had multiple times of being double charged by companies but because it’s at the end of month/beginning of the new month i can’t easily see it and have to switch back and forth between months to see it. This is frustrating especially when trying to see if i have gotten all five charges to earn my points.
From best to worst reward program. I used to be able to float my rent but now they automatically take it out of my account. What’s the point of using a credit card if I can’t leverage the credit line? The spending usage thing is annoying too as you have to spend to earn points on your rent. It doesn’t compare to other credit cards anymore at all as far as rewards. They think they made it simple and clear for the users but in reality they ruined the best rewards program. Stick to your other credit cards please.
worst rent payment processing.
Updates are annoying. Why does every time I open the app it says “please wait while we update” it’s so annoying why can’t it do regular app updates like every other app where it loads when closed, in the background. If you leave the app the update starts over. A few more small issues I have 1 once you make a payment you have to wait 24 hours to make another payment. 2. I’ve had this app for years and it keeps asking me to complete card activation and I can’t dismiss it. Overall the app works as it should I’m just picky.
Bilt Should Be Embarrassed. I have a Bilt Palladium. That’s $495 per year… for now. And this app is embarrassing. Until just recently, recent transactions were limited to 14 days, their support has been abysmal, there are no insights or reports, and there are no transaction alerts. Instead, I will randomly get notified about garbage I didn’t ask for. This is just pathetic for a “premium” credit card. With Bilt 1.0, at least we got all of this through Wells Fargo. Now we have a severely more complicated half-baked product with a severely limited half-baked feature set. Bilt 2.0? More like Bilt 0.2. Needless to say, I’m canceling mine. Edit: BILT has now finally added transaction notifications. Insights are still in beta and only available for BILT points, not spending, and quite useless. It seems like we’re heading in the right direction close to 3 months after launch, but not there yet. There is no excuse for this. These are basic features that should have been ready pre-launch.
If you’re a renter, you NEED this card!. BILT is the only major credit card company that gives you points for paying rent (with no processing fees)! But the best thing about this card (and the app) is the customer service. I haven’t had many issues, but when one arises, the team goes above and beyond to make sure the customer is taking care of. The app is extremely intuitive, making it incredibly easy to transfer points, pay rent, make payments, etc. All around thumbs up for me!
All the Perks None of the Functionality. It’s very clear the app is designed to sell a bunch of luxury nonsense. In terms of actual functionality..? Not so luxury… The rent tool is mediocre at best - Prevents making multiple payments of the same value more than once (God forbid rent is an even split that month), doesn’t track remaining cost until several days after a single payment, paying rent leads you to a dead-end screen requiring you to quit the app and reopen it, and the rewards points seem to be capped regardless of dollar spent. Attempt to use the “Find Perks Near Me” tool to spend all those fun, meaningless points you’ve earned and the app visibly starts to give up on life. This app has no business being this close to 5 stars but I have no doubt they’ve spent their necessary R&D budget on bot reviews.
Worst Service Ever — No Support, No Value, Waste of time applying and setting it. The Bilt app is the worst service I have ever used. There is no proper support or live agent assistance; you are left stranded with no help. Whenever you raise an issue, it takes a month or more to get a response, and even then, the solution is usually incomplete or unsatisfactory. The app’s functionality is extremely limited and at most barely works. They fail to resolve even simple problems, leaving users frustrated. The customer support team is non-existent, and there’s no way to get immediate help when needed. The points and Bilt Cash are completely useless, offering no real benefits or value. It feels like they don’t care about their users at all. Overall, an utterly disappointing experience with zero reliability. I would strongly advise against using this app.
Great Concept!. Love the concept of the credit card itself. I wish it was compatible with Zillow. I tried to input my Routing and Account for ACH but it wouldn’t work. I emailed Zillow and they told me that it wasn’t compatible. Which is disappointing because I’d rather not mail a check because the possible thought of it getting lost in transit scares me but at this point I’m willing to take the risk. I just hope it gets processed by my landlord accordingly. Haven’t don’t it yet but set it up for next months rent! Fingers Crossed!
Horrible app UI. Love the product generally but the app UI is garbage specifically the Wallet page. It’s impossible to schedule a credit card payment and to tell when your payment is due / when you’ve already made a payment. The outstanding balance / statement balance amounts are also always glitchy. I’ve used every other major credit card provider and none of them have UI as bad. I’ve never missed a credit card payment before and have now missed 2 due to the bad UI. I know it’s not just me too since my friends have shared similar complaints. If I didn’t know better I would think it’s a ploy to improve Bilt’s partnership with Wells Fargo by purposely having confusing UI to generate more late fees. Disgraceful for a consumer-facing production product.
This thing literally is disgusting. I do not care about the Bilt founder hanging out with pseudo celebrities. Good for him, he wants fancy friends. I really, really don’t want to play a trivia game for my housing situation. Im not reliant on it, but wow that is dystopian. I think it’s super messed up that my rent can be paid with “points”— don’t charge that much for rent then. I don’t want yet another line of credit for a RENTAL, the whole point of which is that ITS NOT A LINE OF CREDIT. What makes me most mad about this is that I prepay my rent and this d*mn app shows a $0 balance right before rent day, which straight up isn’t true. This makes me think that my $1200 is just lost in the ether. This cannot be the case. Then, my landlord company has a delay in transferring the $$? Bro this is RENT. Can’t mess around w this stuff. Not cool.
Fast and on the go. Bilt is very helpful and useful when you are on the go you can pay your rent from anywhere with a click of a button or set up auto pay and it pays its self one less thing to worry about on our busy schedules. Bilt has many benefits from accumulating those points by paying rent on time and being able to use them as a credit towards your rent, to booking a flight or hotel room. I recommend Bilt as a online residents portal that every property should be using.
This App is broken. Bilt is nothing more than an app to lure people to get a Credit Card with them. The rent payment function is unpredictable. Payments are slow to process so you have to wait 10-15 mins to find out if your payment was successful or unsuccessful. Then you have to wait an additional 15 mins to process another payment. So verifying payment information or changing payment information is this long drawn out additional 45 mins inconvenience to hope that it “might” process. With that their debit card fee of 9 dollar is RIDICULOUS and of course their is no fee if you apply for their stupid credit card. The WORST idea for rent payment system. Having used numerous rent apps this is by far the WORST!!!
Typical Bait and Switch. Every now and then a financial institution will create a product that makes life a little bit easier. Bilt is NOT one of those institutions. When this card was originally pitched, it was to allow you to pay rent through a card once the company was sold off from Wells Fargo, payments for the card are automatically deducted, which completely defeats the point of paying through a credit card. When I reached out to customer support to highlight that this change has been confusing and caused me to receive a large late fee, I was offered 500 points. The cash value of 500 points is six $6 USD. This policy could only be devised by someone who doesn’t understand the value of the USD or actually has contempt for their customer base. With all available evidence, it’s obviously the latter. TLDR; Bilt is now effectively a middleman instead of a creditor if you’re paying for housing. There is zero benefit unless you have a penchant for corporate art to purchase corporate art from their own store. If I was not forced to use this company because it is now required by property management.
