Achieve Your Naval Aviator Dream with the ASTB App. I highly recommend the ASTB app, developed by Alex, to anyone preparing for the ASTB. Alex is incredibly passionate about helping you reach your goals and achieve your dream of becoming a naval aviator. In conjunction of this app and other study materials, I was able to achieve a 9/8/8 on my ASTB exam! One of the app's standout features is its unique practice sections, such as Terrain Association and the UAV section, which are difficult to find elsewhere. These, along with the other sections, provide comprehensive preparation for the test. My reaction time improved significantly by using the app's various practice tools, which simulate real exam conditions. The app offers valuable insights into the range of topics covered in each sub-section, helping me feel well-prepared for what to expect. The practice tests mirror the real exam’s time limits and question formats, making it an excellent tool for simulating exam conditions. While the actual ASTB may not always have the exact number of questions, this app comes very close to recreating the experience. Once again, I highly recommend buying this app, its only $20 to get you a step closer to achieving your dream career.

Amazing on your phone, could be better on MAC. ASTB Prep has been incredibly helpful for me, especially with the UAV/Terrain identification, I crushed that stuff my first time taking the exam. Only issue is you cannot scroll on the Mac. I can do the PBMS on my laptop and it really helps with the Terrain since the screen is much larger but I wish I could go through full lessons.

Mediocre. I used this app to study for the OAR. The only thing it really helped with was the mechanical comprehension. The math is all basic stuff and does not even begin to cover what is on the actual test. There are only test taking tips for reading comprehension. The OARs reading section dwells on military scenarios and instructions.

Some Suggestions for the Terrain Identification. Hi, thanks to the developer for making this app. I’ll wait to talk about how helpful it has been until I see how I do on the actual exam. Some suggestions on the terrain identification: It would be very helpful to be able to configure a no-timer option. It would also be very helpful to allow users to configure how long they want to see the correct answers for. Perhaps a Learning Mode, if you would.

Incredible prep. I am a retired Naval Aviator. My generation took the AQT-FAR test for flight school aptitude. My oldest is a Midshipman NROTC 2/c and used this prep as one of his primary pillars of study. His exam score was a 8/9/8. Max is 9/9/9. An 8/9/8 is considered an incredible score. On an exam where you only can take it 3 times and last full score counts, to score that high on the first test is amazing and a testament to how well this prep works. Worth it 100%. I always recommend this app and know people that score amazing due to this. However I have some critiques. Number 1, the MCT is 30 questions not 20. Number 2, The stick and throttle sim isn’t that useful. And number 3, I wish the ANIT test had more questions especially on the higher difficulty. I’ve taken it so many times now I’ve memorized it but there’s stuff I’m still not confident on yet. Either way these are minor complaints, I’ll update after I take my test and most likely give back that missing star.

Buy. This. App.. I just finished the test and I got 65 9/9/8 and I attribute a large portion of my score to this app. I specifically purchased it for the UAV and Terrain Identification portions but there is so much other helpful stuff on there too. I’m super glad I got it and used it and would suggest it to anyone who is taking the ASTB-E.

Good app to use to compliment other Test Books. With the combination of Barron’s and this app, I was able to boost my OAR score by 10 points and increase my ASTB scores by 2-3 points. The only compliant about this app, which may be no fault of the developer is the UAV portion which seems to be a little inaccurate probably due to the Navy completing a massive update on the APEX system which houses the ASTB.

Extremely Helpful. I have already taken the ASTB but I am retaking it to increase my score. This app covers all the basics you need to study for the test as well as other useful tools such as flash cards, practice tests, and even the UAV portion. As anything, there’s always room for improvement but I think this a great tool for the ASTB.

Worth every penny. I will keep it short and sweet. I took the ASTB once with no prep and scored a 4/3/3. Discourages I was told by a friend to download this app. After a month of studying I took the test again and scored an 8/8/8. I recommend this app to anyone hoping to boost their ASTB score it is perfectly designed and will get you the score you want.

Scored a 6/6/7 with just this app. The ASTB was different than what is available in this app but the ideas were the same. The knowledge was extremely helpful and unfortunately didn’t get through all of it before taking the test but if I got the chance to take it again I would get a X52 joystick a few months before for the UAV test and go through all the knowledge at least once along with practicing word problems. *wink wink*

Worth the Time and Money. This app helped me tremendously with my ASTB score. I went from a 4,5,3 on my first test attempt to a 6,8,7 using this app to help me study. It is well worth the money and I have recommended it to all my buddies trying to get a flight contract and pass the test. If you follow the instructions and study like it says (and put the time in) you will pass. (Side note to the creators) I appreciate all the hard work y’all put into this app. I hope that y’all continue to update it so that it will help more people like me who are struggling to pass the test.

Great Resource. The UAV tracking sim is the closest I’ve seen to the actual test. Everything else is also really great regarding aviation/navy/nautical information. Plus the app is convenient, meaning I could study anywhere whenever I had some free time.

Great app with some errors. There are some errors in this but it is an amazing app. I was able to pick up E-6 because of an app similar to this so this style definitely works but the questions and answers may need some review.

Beyond helpful. Absolutely one of the best programs you can get for ASTB preparation. The math , reading, and physics portions are all very thorough. The sim section is ESPECIALLY useful for the parking lot portion. The tracking portion for the joystick is useful for multitasking practice. The app clearly explainswhat is expected of you in each section and provides practice problems with how each problem is performed. It also categorizes each problem so you know where to look for extra practice problems. My only complaints about the app is that it locks orientation on the sim, and when you take the test it doesn’t detail the explanations for all problems relating to math and physics. My first attempt at the test was a 6,5,5 and a 52 on the OAR. With this app , along with some study books, I brought my score up to an 8,9,8 and a 57. This app ABSOLUTELY is worth every penny. I cannot thank the creator enough. The app is hardly worth just the 6 dollars (I think) I paid for it. It really is a game changer!

Not as helpful as I hoped.. I bought this app for $20 about a month ago for obvious reasons. I studied daily for several hours up until the test. I actually scored worse on the OAR section. The math in this guide is thorough but I didn’t see a single problem that was like the ones I had studied on here actually translate to the test. I will say this app did help tremendously with the UAV section and a minute amount of ANIT information. These sections are really the only ones that benefitted me. All in all I appreciate the effort put in by the developer(s). However, I do not know how people were improving their scores.

PBM. So far the app looks great. Very comprehensive! Only complaint I can see is Eventually the PBM sim bogs down my phone and begins to crash the app as too many targets generate. Even when it seems like I should have a lock it doesn’t shoot but keeps adding targets at a rapid pace. Best score is 11 so far. The trick is to stay ahead of the generator curve.

Best ASTB Prep You Can Find. Instead of using out dated review books that have been passed around a couple friends trying to study for the test, I’ve found this app easy to use and great practice I can use at any time.

PBM Needs Work. Love this app on my phone but at the moment the stick and throttle portion is bound to the keyboard. Really would be better to have the stick able to bind to the mouse.

SOME ANSWERS ARE WRONG. Overall amazing app. Uav portion is worth the money alone. But some answers for are wrong. Misleading, especially to those trying to learn the subjects for the first time. Question with 14 books is supposed to be 40 not 54. And the uav portion, the building in the middle should be a tent, not a building. Also it would be helpful to put in audio for the uav as the real test talks to you while you do it. Would be great to do emergency scenario training too.

Best ASTB prep there is for PFAR score. Yes, there’s tons of gouge on air warriors but nothing is going to help you improve your UAV and Stick and Throttle portion like this app will. Spend the money. Buy it. Use it. Improve your scores.

Some Math Questions have incorrect answers and walkthroughs. Wasn’t sure how to contact the developer so just figured I’d leave a review. First, the UAV portion and Terrain Identification are worth the app on its own, but if you’re refreshing for some basic math concepts it’s frustrating when the answers aren’t present and the explanation is incorrect. The question I encountered (and took pictures of) was (11²/4)/(5^5 x 2). The right answer wasn’t present and during the review section after the fact it was solving for 5² instead of 5^5, which was presented in the question.

Improved My Test Scores. Thank you to the developer of this app. This is the only app on the internet with simulators similar to the actual exam. Even a few sessions of prep dramatically increased my scores. The syllabus sections were my personal favorite. The topics are fun to go back to post-exam and inspire new research.

Must have for aspiring aviators. Wouldn't have passed the ASTB-E without it. By far the most comprehensive study package out there. Extremely useful on iphone, mac, and ipad. Can't recommend enough.

An Investment in Structure and Success. The ASTB-E is very unique test for which preparing can seem totally overwhelming. However, this app provides you with the only two things you ultimately need to be successful: a blueprint for your academic preparation and an array of simulators for your neuromotor performance. Use the syllabus to guide your studies. Dive deeper into subjects with which you’re unfamiliar, and test yourself on those you think you already are familiar. The structure allows you to ensure you’re allocating your time effectively which, for a test with such a wide range of material, is crucial. Make the simulators part of your daily routine - they are incredibly well-designed and true to the real test. Practice makes perfect, and the app makes practice convenient. Having been through the process myself now, I can say that this app is truly invaluable - worth every penny. Furthermore, the app developer in incredibly responsive, helpful, and committed to the product. Don’t get bogged down or discouraged, preparing for the ASTB-E is straightforward (dare I say fun?) with the help of this app.

Well worth it, especially the UAV portion. For $8 it’s well worth it. You can use workbooks or look up gouge on top of just this app, but I’d recommend spending the money on this. The UAV test portion is about as close to the test as you can get. The lessons are good for review and test can give you explanations on some wrong answers. There are a few typos and incorrect answers sparingly throughout, but not a distraction at all.

Excellent. I’m currently studying for the ASTB and this is a great learning tool. Well worth the money spent. Just some grammar and spelling issues to work out and even though I’m a rated pilot, I struggle with the “rear cockpit” portion because I naturally control the stick how an aircraft will fly but I am getting the hang of it. Thank you!

Solid ASTB Study Material. I recently took the ASTB and scored 63 8/8/7 on the exam. This app was a huge help in me attaining those scores especially in the performance based measures section of the test. The UAV and terrain identification on this app is practically identical to the real test and I highly recommend using it to prepare. The material in the syllabus was also nice as it generally encompasses the majority of the material asked in the actual ASTB. Overall a great source of information to help prepare for the exam.

Incredibly helpful, informative, fun. I am not in the navy, however I originally got this app to help prepare me for eventually commissioning into the navy, as well as just for fun with one of my buddies who is in the navy right now and has taken the real astb. We have both been using this app for the past year. This app recently came out on the mac app store around June 2024, which is incredibly helpful when it comes to the stick and throttle portion and uav portion of the astb. This makes everything about this app very similar to the actual exam. My buddy who is in the navy just took his astb the other day, after a few months of using the mac version of this app, and he got 9/8/8. Needless to say, he would have never gotten the score he did without the use of this amazingly resourceful app. 10/10 would recommend if you are or are planning on taking the astb in the future, this app will best prepare you for it.

Worth It. This app is very good for PBM preparation. Combined with a stick and throttle it's all you need. All of the other sections however aren't so comprehensive and is more of an overview requiring supplemental study material.

Amazing. My ASTB score was a 52 7,9,8 and I definitely recommend this app. Especially for the simulations. If you want a good score, this app is one of the closest resources to the real test.

primary study tool 52 7/8/6 first take marines. I used this app the pbm section was the most accurate to the test, all the other portions were great help. The reading section was a little harder than the practice test here. But all in all if you went in 100% studied up on this app you will perform well and at minimum be prepared and not be hit with any section you weren’t expecting.

Fantastic Review App. This app greatly helped me prepare in short time for the OAR and I will be taking the full ASTB after getting a 55 on the OAR and feeling confident for the ASBT. Very accurate practice testing.

Helped improve my score!. I went from a 45 5/5/5 to a 55 6/7/7. This app is a fantastic study tool! UAV portion is the best way to study for that portion of the PBM.

Helpful, but not completely accurate. This is a good app to use to develop familiarity with the aviation sections. The OAR portion is fairly good at presenting information, however it does have some issues. An example would be the mechanical comprehension section when it has an example for average velocity the answer it gives is 136.39 mph for a car that went 5 miles in 22 minutes, when the answer should 13.63. Small typos like that are common throughout the material.

Amazing app and coaching. This is a great app to help prepare for the ASTB. The sections along with the simulators help prepare very well for the actual test. The coaching was incredibly helpful and gave lots of extra resources to succeed.

9/9/8, Thanks ASTB Prep!. Three weeks ago, I started studying for the ASTB and stumbled upon this app. I was hesitant to pay the $30, but after reading the reviews I was sold. I shouldn’t have hesitated! This app is AMAZING. The PBM simulators in the app alone make it worth the money, and you cannot find anything this good elsewhere. And no, don’t try to tell me the Jantzen sim can compare to this; ASTB Prep is FAR better! I recommend using the lessons provided in this app as an introduction to the test structure and general content on the ASTB, then implementing all the PBM practice sims into your daily schedule. Couple this with the ANIT Cram Flashcards and as many OAR/ANIT practice tests as possible from Kyle’s and Gomez’s drives (can be found on airwarriors.com), and you will be absolutely over-prepared for this exam. Every practice test on this app (PBM, OAR, everything) is noticeably more difficult than the actual test, so if you practice with this, like I said, you’ll be fine on the real thing. I took it today and got a 67 9/9/8. Thank you, TwoScoops!

Best app to prepare. I wanted to thank you for creating this app and making it as realistic as possible. While it does need improvement in some categories overall I’d say it is 92% accurate. This is the go to app to study and prepare for the real version. Because of this app and a couple other online sources (not as relevant) I went from a 41/5/8/6 to a 54/7/8/8 and am now waiting to get picked up for pilot come June. Only thing I can highly recommend is FOCUS on emergency procedures and responding correctly to each ear instead of following the stick and throttle accurately. If you need to pause/not pay attention on the stick and throttle so you can input the correct emergency procedures than do so. As I noticed that was mostly how the stick and throttle was graded. (WRITE OUT THE EMERGENCY PROCEDURES ON PAPER) do not try to memorize them!!!! Also do well on the OAR portion to score well in the AQR portion, as the AQR is the combination of math, mechanical, and reading. Like is said, the creator of this app did an amazing job at replicating the real thing. This app was worth every dollar plus some. And the best thing is he has an option for app users to recommend changes to him as the test get updated every now and then. If your serious about what you want to do than buy this app. You won’t regret it. And try to find additional sources online. But don’t focus on too many different types. Thank you again. 🫡🙏
