Omnipod 5 App Comments & Reviews 2026
Sensor. I’m giving the A3 rating because the fact that they opened it up to iPhone just recently, but did not bother to make sure it was updated to the new sensor. I have used it in manual mode due to being on the G7 sensor for the last three days and there are a lot of things that I absolutely love about it like the stored option for certain foods that you eat on a regular basis. I would say an improvement would be to be able to see last pod change. As soon as it gets updated to the G7 and I can use all the functions of it I may update my review in anytime. I’m gonna stop using the app and go back to the transmitter. Unfortunately, it has been really nice the last three days only carry one device.
Pod location tracking. Would like to have the ability to see previous pod location on the app like it was with my pdm. Other than that it is great not having to tote around another device.
Great solution. I have been using the app for about three weeks now and for the most part it has worked very well. The fact that I am only carrying one device in my pocket now that it is integrated with my iPhone has been wonderful.. My only complaint at this point has been the fact that the app often times loses connection with my Dexcom six. When I use the Omni pod provided controller this did not happen with nearly the same frequency.
Good but not great. We are all happy because we don’t have to carry around another basically full sized phone. But let’s be real, there are some serious limitations that are a bit ridiculous. Like if you lose, break, or upgrade your iPhone, you have to start the algorithm all over. Why can’t they store it in the cloud? Also the Omnipod app can’t share sensor data from the Dexcom app (which would give us more placement options, wouldn’t have to be on the same side of the body for example). My pump loses connection with my sensor often while I’m sleeping, but my phone never loses connection with my sensor. Hope they can fix this with future updates, but like you, I’m happy to finally get the app!
Nonfunctional. Loved the idea of the app and was so excited when it finally came out. Was very disappointed to see they removed the last pod site feature. First pod worked, had a few smaller technical difficulties such as not liking to connect to my sensor, and even when it did it wouldn’t show my graph in the omnipod app. Got it ironed out and the app worked decently well and I was mostly in range. It came time to change my first pod…. Went through three of them, all from different boxes, before realizing the app is the issue. Tried every troubleshooting tip in the book but kept getting a pod communication error notification and to try again- but when I tried connecting it near the other ones it was saying it was too close to other pods. Now I can not get it to connect to any new pod, even after an hour of fiddling, and was forced to go back to the remote. Sorely disappointed that I waited so long for an app that doesn’t even function.
Good app but needs update. Excellent add to have until you upgrade to G7 and it becomes absolute useless since the G7 only connects to the controller. Now need to carry multiple devices in my pocket because this app isn't up to date. It's almost 2025. Please help us and make life a bit simple for us, at least in that front
Can’t get it to work with omnipod view. I love everything about the app, I recently switched from a Medtronic pump, and this works so much better for me! I just can’t get the app to work with omnipod view, I had planned to add my mom and my boyfriend on view, so they would be able to see my sugars. But I can’t add them from the app. That is my only complaint.
Warning: Not Compatible with Dexcom G7. Beware that this new iPhone Omni Pod app is NOT compatible with the Dexcom G7 sensor. I just switched over all my equipment to the G7 with G7 compatible Omnipods, but could not see where in the iPhone app itself where you could sync to the G7. Only the G6 sensor is shown as an option in the app. I called Insulet to find out that the G7 is not compatible yet. So beware if you’re switching over, understand that this app is not the fix you were hoping for. I do not understand why Insulet would put out an unfinished product like this?
Very good app! Just Minor inconveniences. So far, the app has worked perfectly! There are only a few things that are missing that I hope will be added soon. For one, connection to Apple Health would be a very useful convenience for us and would allow us to keep track of our insulin usage in Apple Health. And Dexcom G7 Connectivity would also be a very nice feature to have within the app. But other than that, very nice app!
Bugs. I have enjoyed using the app on my iPhone. However, late afternoon each day my blood sugar drops. I can tell where the insulin is paused, but there’s also indicators that “max insulin has been reached.” My blood sugar is dropping to the 40s and staying there for around 2 hours. This can be dangerous.
Love app. Few missing features. Just started using the app. A few things I’ve noticed missing was the ability to record last pod. If would be great to have a feature that recorded where you placed your last pod for the past month along with how your glucose spiked in each location. Additionally I wish there was a feature to change dark mode vs light mode on the app itself. I like dark mode for my iPhone but prefer the app to be light mode so I can see better. Additionally more control over how you receive notifications would be appreciated. For example the option to choose certain notification for vibrate vs beeping (not critical alerts of course) Hope to see more improvements in the future!
Love the App!. First I want to thank Insulet for a great app. It was definitely worth the wait. However it is missing the feature to record sites. This is such an important feature to help with site rotations and keeping track of which sites work best. I am free of the PDM but now I have to take another action to record sites. I love the app, I don’t love having to lose functionally of an important feature to get it.
Glad the app is finally on iPhone!. Just started using it a few days ago, so far very happy with it. As others have said, wish the ability to record pod location was still there. If that gets added back, it would also be nice to be able to see the pod location history anytime besides just when applying a new pod.
Update request. I’m glad this app was finally released. It works great. One request: modify the History page so I can move to a different date on the Summary tab by swiping, or add arrow buttons to allow for moving from date to date. The current method of switching dates is a bit cumbersome. Thanks.
One small step for man, one giant leap for diabetics!. The people here complaining about the G7 incompatibility and not being able to find the app via search DO NOT realize the decades it took to come this far for a Type 1! Lets give thanks and praise to those who have helped put this together! Fyi, for those G7 users..if you noticed how slowly adaptation is, i would have held back from upgrading from G6! Do your homework.
Thank You!. Thank you Insulet/Omnipod for delivering this. It’s been a long wait, and you have taken a lot heat for that, but kudos for getting it across the finish line! This will be a real significant life improvement, to not have to carry around one more thing. Thank you!
5 year looper. Bolus wizard should have an option to auto populate the Dexcom blood glucose reading to save a step which we do every time I open the app, it’s so redundant the bug should be in the wizard all the time. During a high blood glucose the wizard knows insulin is needed it should give some amount of insulin. But it does nothing until I check use Dexcom reading see the amount of insulin and approve the delivery of insulin.
True life saver. I impatiently waited for this app all year.. literally downloaded within hours of it releasing. In comparison to having to tote around the Omnipod controller 24/7 as a nurse & BUSY mom of 4 kids, this has become such a better way for me to control my diabetes. It helps me have better control of it too because of the MUCH better convenience of using the app vs using the controller device. Id loose it often or leave it in my purse, it would die, etc. Had to be replaced so many times too… Overall, nothing majorly different outside of being able to input your commonly eaten foods/how many carbs it is so you just click on it instead of having to remember/look it up each time. I feel overall it is an easier to use interface vs the intimidating Omnipod controller device. I LOVE that it requires Face ID every time you want to open the app. As I mentioned before, I have 4 little ones who often use my phone when I need a moment of peace.. I feel safe that they couldn’t get in the app by mistake and press buttons they shouldn’t. That being said, I read another review where the person was annoyed at having to do this. If you want to turn it off, at the time of writing this - you need to: Go to settings —> Face ID & Passcodes —> Other Apps —> Toggle off Omnipod app
Won’t connect to sensor now!!!!. Replaced my sensor (not transmitter) and it won’t connect now!!!! So infuriating! After warm up it just never reconnected. Turned Bluetooth on and off. Did line of sight. Airplane mode. Put transmitter info back in. And so on. Only have had the app maybe 18 hours and have had zero sleep due to this stupid alarm continuously going off because. It. Won’t. CONNECT. Sensor works just fine. Didn’t have this issue with the separate reader. Very frustrated at the moment.
Great. First of all I am very happy with this app. I have a problem with numeric format, while I use comma and not dots to separate decimal digits. So I was unable to manually bolus with decimal numbers. I could only do it when I change the numeric format on my iOS settings. I also have a suggestion to put quantity in custom foods when bolus. (E.g. banana - 2 un) because I can’t add two of the same custom foods.
App works really well!. I would say the app works really well from a U/I side. Features are nice and the summary page is a good window into what is going on for the day. I had an issue (myself) with the initial setup with basal which caused me to have some high bgs, so maybe a suggestion at setup to prompt a “are you sure the basal is correct”. More iOS features would be cool too, but as it stands today is a really good app. I’ve carried a second device for so long, it is nice (and kind of odd) to only have the one. Thank you to the dev teams and pms that made this happen!
Not delivering insulin when my iphone locked!. This is app is the most best thing ever happened lately and I appreciate the amount of work & time spent to develop this genius app but there is a big problem which is for me is one of the main thing that I would expect this app will do which is when I set up this App in Automated mode it won’t deliver the insulin by it self same as the PDM & that’s is an issue. I would expect my insulin range would be fine not checking the app every time and then to see how much insulin left to enter my body while my sugar is being high 😅. Please fix the issue ASAP & as of now Im changing my pod through the PDM again cause I can’t trust this app until the issue been fixed.
FINALLY!!!. Loving only having to carry my phone with me! I’ve had the Omnipod for about a year now and felt so much more ”normal” not having to take shots. Now that I don’t have to carry the omnipod controller, it’s like a whole new level of FREEDOM and normalcy! So thankful for the app. I’ve had no issues as of yet!
No more trap phone. I got so tired of carrying my trap phone, like why do I need TWO phones I felt like a dealer. Not to mention the fact that I had to make sure both phones were charged and remember to bring both. Beautiful. I am free.
Omnipod is the G.O.A.T.. The only the only two things I need to happen is an update for the compatability with the Dexcom G7, and for the Omnipod 5 app to read and write insulin, and carbohydrate information to Apple health. But I love the app is familiar yet updated and it is everything I expected.
App issues. I love the fact that I now only need 1 device in theory. But thinking about going back at least for a while as the app buttons keep getting stuck. Like deactivating the current pod. The button shows but does not work when pushed. Would love to see this glitch fixed.
Pod Location Tracking Gone. I’m really happy that the app is finally out, and they added custom foods back, but I’m really disappointed that the option to track where you put your pod in is no longer a feature. Please bring this back (also a way to track dexcom location could be nice 🤷🏼♀️)
Great app, missing functionality. Great App! There is (for the moment) only one small disadvantages compared to the PDM/android app: Missing functionality: Register site location (where the pod will be placed). This is really usefull when changing the pod, so that you don’t use the same spot for a period of time
Finally. The app has worked flawlessly! It has been a long wait to finally be able to just carry around your phone. Please don’t take forever to get it to work with the G7 🤞🏽🙏
Nice UI-mode switching failures though. It’s nice to only have to carry around a single device now. The UI is clean and easy to navigate. I have been using the app for a week now and have had two instances where I run into a failure when switching modes. Once when switching from auto to manual and the other was switching back to auto from manual after completing an extended bolus. With both failures I’m losing newer pods with a lot of insulin left.
Great app however it’s missing Health app integration and widget support. The app so far has been working great with minor bugs (CGM graph has been blank for a couple hours and then fixed it’s self and is back now) but it feels like the app is missing some IOS integrations like Health app support, and widgets (to see IOB or other stats I know I can use Dexcom widget to see BG but also having the IOB and some other useful stats on the home screen would be nice) also not a big fan of being forced to login with my face every time I open the app I already have a password on my phone so kinda pointless so I’d like if there was a opt out for Face ID authentication other than that very impressed with the development of this app in comparison to whatever garbage they made for the PDM which would always have huge bugs nice work😃
Great except one thing. So I really love the app. Only thing I wish. Add an option to select extended release in the bolus screen. Certain foods need an extended release. Having a box we could check in the bolus screen would be a game changer.
Complete User Error. This is complete User error but man it's so enfuriating that I switch over my current pod session over to the iPhone (finally) and OOPS I have the G7. Again, I knew this was the case but I completely forgot and it's maddening that you release an app that is half baked. Again, I'm mad at myself but also mad at you guys. Time to inject myself again just to change the pod to my old receiver. Another broken experience.
Don’t miss my lil buddy. Back to just carrying two real live phones! No more ball and chain following me every where I go, requiring me to login every time I wanted to look at anything. This app is not perfect and never will be. Libre3 support for Omnipod would be great. Less useless alarms would be as well. I can live without either although the former should be possible. Thank you Omnipod!
Randomly Disconnects. I am so happy to finally have access on iPhone. However, I’m writing this review at 3am because I awoke to a critical alert that the pod has been disconnected, and I must delete the app and redownload. I am just glad this happened at home as I travel a lot for work and sometimes find myself without WiFi. I understand there will be some growing pains as the app is newly available on the iOS platform. If I could make a suggestion, please add the option to skip the tutorial if you are forced to delete and redownload the app. It is frustrating to have this disconnect occur and be forced to sit through the tutorial video on top of losing a pod and sleep.
Needs some features. Finally no PDM. However, I was expecting it to have widgets similar to dexcom where I didn’t have to open an app to see IOB or other info. Also need the record pod site feature from PDM. That is a crucial feature that I relied on, now I don’t have it with the IOS app. Disappointing.
I’m so happy. Been waiting since the day I got my omnipod for you guys to create the app. Now here it is. Now I don’t gotta worry about carrying an extra device or anything it’s all in my phone. Thank you guys for what you do. It really helps now that I got the app. So far I love it no issues
23 Years. 23 years as a Type 1 diabetic. I have been on the Omnipod since 2012. Every iteration of the device has remarkably improved my life. I don’t care if it isn’t perfect, this app WORKS. 48 hours with the app and my life has again been changed for the better. My Sincerely and deepest thanks to the entire team behind this monumental achievement of an iOS app.
Finally!! One question though…. Long wait is finally over, but is there a reason yall got rid of the “Record Pod Site” function? That’s literally my only issue with it (I don’t use the Dexcom G7). Be real nice if yall could go ahead and add that back…..
Great app!. I waited impatiently all year for this app. I love not having to carry around both my phone and my receiver. So far I have had no issues with the app. I do miss the feature the receiver had to choose the pod location, it made it so much easier to keep track of my site rotations.
Pod Failure. Up until about 45 minutes ago the application was working perfectly fine for me! However, right as I was about to leave out to attend a very important event, the app stopped working and the error stated I had to put on a different pod. It has been only a day since my last pod installation. Not only was I forced to change out my pod, but I was forced to delete and redownload the app and THEN had to re-enter all of my diabetes information again as if I hadn’t before!!! This is ridiculous. It took me promptly 30 minutes to go through that entire process again and now I’m afraid to continue using the app because of the possibility of that happening again. I know things happen, technology isn’t always the most reliable, but this is our HEALTH, this means life or death for a lot of us and stuff like this SHOULDN’T HAPPEN!! As I stated, outside of this situation the app was working smoothly, but this issue has had a huge impact on my perception of the app. Giving it two stars at this point feels a bit generous.
I am really liking the new app. The new app has been a game changer! The flexibility of not carrying around another device has been wonderful (even though I still look around for it lol). Having everything in one device has allowed me to control and monitor my diabetes at a greater level!
Lacking several small features. This app is a god-send but they get no credit for simply making it. It’s late and underwhelming. Some obvious features are missing like Lock Screen widget, widget in general. Apple Watch integration of any kind not even displaying data only let alone dosing. No integration with Apple health. Obtuse, clunky interface that doesn’t follow normal app interface norms. No way to customize alert sounds. Cannot disable pod expiration early warning only change it’s time. Really this app is a complete disappointment and I think Insulet should be ashamed of it. LOOP superiority as usual we just have to do everything ourselves.
5 stars!. Beautiful app, well designed. Functionality and easy to use and easy to understand. I was living on edge for past year until it’s release. Connection with Dexcom G6 is solid so far too! I imagine adding Dexcom G7 should be much faster now as this app is approved and released. What’s next Omnipod? Apple Watch integration? Bolusing from Apple watch like Loop? Maybe an upgrade to the algorithm cause while it’s good, it’s not the best. Also, PLEASE NOTE THIS INSULET: As the algorithm works off of TDI inputs, it doesn’t know how to work correctly with people that are eating low carb diets. I was doing low carb and my sugars were running high in the 200s and the TDI doesn’t know what to do because I was eating less carbs. My sugars wouldn’t not come done. Maybe you add a low carb algorithm option to Omnipod5? Overall well done! I’m just voicing my suggestions as I’m sure you’re all deep in our comments at the moment thanks!
iPhone stays on. After I installed the app, screen stays on unless I manually lock. If I lock and screen turns on after any notification, it will stay on till I manually press lock button again. Screen turning/staying on was not the an issue till I downloaded this app. FYI, I have downloaded only this app today and have not made any changes in setting.
Managing T1 Diabetes all from my iPhone! Thank you Omnipod!. This has been a long awaited feature and I’m so pleased it’s been delivered. I haven’t personally had any issues with the app, and I’m honestly willing to overlook things given what a drastic and profound quality of life upgrade this is for me. With Dexcom and Omnipod both having cell phone apps, I’m able to manage everything straight from my phone and have just a single device.
Good so far but... This app is really good so far, but I believe there should be an option to add the Dexcom G7. I did have to go back to the Dexcom G6 in order to use this app which is OK also, having connectivity to Apple health would be great possibly support for the home screen as well as the watch would be nice to see either insulin on board or just your total sugar in general Unfortunately Dexcom G6 does not support Apple Watch integration when it comes to widgets so it would be nice to see for this
Thank you!!. I have been waiting for this and so happy it is finally here! It is working great so far and making my life a lot easier! I would like to start using the Dexcom G7 soon but will wait until it is compatible with the omnipod app. I’m fine waiting though, I will take what I can get! Thank you!
Pretty slick!. Got my omnipod 5 app set up and just gave my first bolus straight from my phone. Losing the PDM will be a huge quality of life increase! One piece of feedback though -> I used to always record my site placement to make sure I keep an organized, steady rotation. This version of the app did not have that feature. Would love to see this added in a future update!
Please add serving sizes and setting to disable all alarms. If I add bread to my custom foods, sometimes I’ll be eating 2 slices, sometimes 3, and I couldn’t find a way to put how many slices I’ll be eating. Also I was able to take off the speaker and vibrator on the Omni pod phone, but I don’t think I can do that on my actual phone, please make it so I can turn off all alarms, I already have Dexcom and the actual pod giving me alarms.

Fewer confirmations please. I wish I could just bolus without hitting confirm AND THEN start. I already see all the data I need on the first bolus screen, the next summary screen is just redundant with the same information. As a diabetic I bolus this everyday, multiple times a day. Just have one start button please, the loading times are chipping away from my time little by little. It seems like a minor problem but using it so often, it’s a huge issue.

But other than that, very nice app!
iOS Version a big software glitch. The iOS version worked well for me for 2 weeks maybe and then I got a message that it was having a memory corruption issue. I had to delete the app and take off my pod prematurely… my pod that costs me an arm and a leg… but whatever I put a new one on and went through the grueling process of setting up my settings again. 12 hours later… same thing happen… brand new pod, down the tubes. I’m switching back to the device that came in the Omnipod starter kit. I can’t afford to just sit here and throw money out the window whenever the app decides it wants to have a bad day and glitch up.
Game Changer. Although I am beyond grateful to finally have this available for Apple products, I would make two changes. One, stop requiring me to login again when I’m already logged into my phone and two, the app should remain active and open while in use, not dim out as if you are inactive. However, this is an incredible upgrade from the previous PDM device and I’m so over the moon for the advances that exist for diabetes management!

I was always high problems with storage and more. Ever Since I switched I have always been high and I just want to eat sugar but not to much and the storage full thing the Dexcom app just resets it self can you do the same so when u figure this out I might try it again and while u are checking in bc ur storage was full can PLEASE give an option for us to see the video or not and for some reason idk if the is just me but it is always giving me not much insulin when I put in like 70 carbs and it gives me like 2.45 or smt so please fix this and when you do I will reconsider just please fix this and I MIGHT reconsider bye
Laziness at its best. It took you long enough to bring the app to the iPhone in the first place. But then you play stupid that you’re not ready for the iPhone 17. You should be ashamed of yourselves that you don’t have this app ready to roll. It worked on iOS 26 on the iPhone 16. Why doesn’t it work on iPhone 17? It’s not drastically new hardware. The letdown I feel after not having to carry a PDM for nearly a year to now lugging it with me everywhere I go is debilitating. On top of it my levels. have been out of whack since getting the new iPhone and this app not being compatible. If they don’t have this ready to roll in the next month, I think I’m gonna switch pump providers.
Hooray for only having to carry on device. Every since the app came out such a relief to carry just my phone now. Automated mode took a couple weeks to adjust itself out and it targets the glucose I have inputted in the settings. No complaints on my end. I thought it would drain the battery faster but haven’t noticed it at all.
Great app, iOS 26.4.2 update ruined it for now.. I love the app! I really makes using my omnipod and managing my diabetes easier. My only issue at the moment is that since my iPhone 15 pro updated to iOS 26.4.2, the app seems to no longer be compatible with this update. It forced a rebooted 2 times in a week, and gets stuck on the loading page (1 of 8 loading). Already spoke with an Omnipod rep and they confirmed my suspicions. Hopefully an update to app come soon. I’m back to using my pdm in the mean time.
So many issues i switched to my old receiver. I have had my pod currypt a couple of time recently and it makes you delete the app and re-put in all your values and basal setting and set it up again and each time this happens and i was 3 hours from home with fresh food luckily i had a extra pod on me but it just up and has a error that corrupt the pod and i haven’t heard or seen any updated or changes to fix this it’s ridiculous this app has so many bugs and issues that i definitely agree insulet let down a whole bunch of people and shouldn’t have released this app with out more testing. These issues can lead to serious medical problems. I don’t recommend this over the pdm device.
Overall Good App. well, it took a little bit of time to get used to the new user interface, overall, I greatly enjoy using the Omnipod 5 app. The only thing I am not pleased with is the inability to change the Y axis on the graph. They have it set at 400 and I would prefer if you could lower to see more subtle changes in glucose. Nonetheless, so far I like this app; especially as it saves me having to carrying an extra device (PDM). 😊
Lackluster programming. While the application works well, omnipod insulet continues to struggle with providing up-to-date programming for new model phones and software; particularly for apple devices. Insulet’s solution is to either purchase another updated controller or return a new phone and downgrade to an older model in order for it to be compatible with their available software. Considering customer service is once again unable to provide any ETA for compatibility, it begs one to question why use omnipod at all? Why struggle with each update, be it for iphone ios or dexcom compatibility.
Good app that gobbles up storage. I don’t have too many complaints about the app itself. My biggest issue is that the app takes up an absurd amount of storage on my phone - upwards of 13 GB and growing. On Reddit, it seems like other people have even worse problems with storage, as the app just seems to use as much storage as it can grab. This makes it hard to update other apps on my phone, and the only way around this issue seems to be removing and reinstalling the app, which deactivates your current pod so you have to wait for it to expire. If the developers could fix this issue, it would be an otherwise very good app.
Great start. So far on my first day things have been working really well but when I try to use another app the Omni pod like turns off my internet it’s weird and I know it is the Omni pod and not an outside factor because when I turn off Bluetooth it works perfectly fine please fix this bug it’s extremely frustrating
Needs improvement. The product itself is good but there needs to be refinements such as not requiring a pin or Face ID. It’s a glucose level not a banking app. You should be able to shut off the audible alarm that beeps 4 hours before the pod expires. It’s annoying as hell and depending on the situation you’re in at the moment it causes more explanation that is needed to people sitting around you. You should be able to see the average insulin used from each pod so that you don’t over/under fill the pod. The process of changing time zones when you travel is utterly stupid. Just change the time zone. I shouldn’t have to interact with 5 button pushes to change the time zone. My Dexcom doesn’t require this so why is it different with this one?
Outdated App That Can’t Keep Up With Modern iPhone 17 Pro Max Tech. I’m beyond disappointed that the Omnipod 5 app still isn’t compatible with the iPhone 17 Pro Max 2 TB. This is supposed to be cutting-edge diabetes tech, yet the developers are lagging years behind the pace of Apple’s hardware and iOS updates. I shouldn’t have to downgrade my phone or wait months for an update just to use an insulin system I depend on daily. It’s unacceptable for a medical device company to be this far behind in technology. Please prioritize your users’ safety and convenience—catch up with current devices! This is so unacceptable. I will update the review once it starts working with my new iPhone 17 pro max
Product is awful. Product support is even worse.. I losing faith in a lot these days, but whoever is responsible for the decline that has occurred to Omnipod, I have to believe there will come a time where that group of people get what they deserve. The amount of pods that don’t work or get the infinity beep at 3 in the morning have me constantly ready to chuck these devises into the nearest river. The product support division whose sole goal is to remind you YOU are somehow at fault and not replace your devices has me ready to go back to the tubes that get caught on doors again. But at least they have an official color!
Great app, but compatibility updates are very slow. For an app that’s supposed to allow you to use your phone for insulin administration, the updates that allow you to use new phones come extremely slowly. The iPhone 17s and air have been out for a bit now and there’s no word of them being usable with this app. The 16 took several months to be compatible. Overall I think this process is extremely slow when compared to others and it would be great if it was fixed.
Critical alerts glitch. When I’m not using the app, I have to turn off notifications to stop it from annoying me with reminders to install a new pod every 10 minutes. But then, when I actually need the app to start a new pod, it requires critical notifications to be enabled and sends me directly to the wrong settings section. When I go to the correct Notifications section manually, the app isn’t even listed there. The only way to fix this is to reinstall the app and go through the entire setup process from scratch. Who built this app? Have they ever dealt with diabetes management themselves?
Good and bad. When it works it’s awesome, when your phones storage gets low be prepared for it to crash. Mines crashed 3x times now and it infuriates me when the last 2 have been at random. The previous time was due to low storage. Most recent as of today crashed without warning soon as I woke up this morning. If the crashes weren’t an issue and having to watch the stupid setup instead of installing AGAIN just upload your info from your account u already have that be great.
OmniPod5 with Dexcom G7. First, I love having only one controller to watch instead of two. Makes life much easier. However, I hate having the Face ID on it, especially in the middle of the night. Get rid of that security feature so we can sleep easier! Also, I have not found anywhere to set a high blood sugar alert. Big problem sometimes. Also wish the low blood sugar alert was higher so I could address it sooner. The app should have a customizable high and low alert for safety sake!
4 because it’s not compatible with g7 major flaw I’m sure something is holding it up. Management of diabetes is so important especially when there’s new developments and technology every day would love to be able to access them right away especially if it’s a new version of a device I love so much and has helped me so much. Please rush the process to be able to use the g7 on the iPhone app not just the g6
Salty Firefighter. Omni pod has been the best thing since sliced bread working as a firefighter I was not able to keep up with injection on the job which would cause my numbers to go crazy. Since I have been using the pod I have kept my numbers in check and my A1C at an acceptable level. This product should be pushed by every Dr to their patients that have diabetes and work an active job.
Settings requirements. This app functions well for bolus and basal delivery but it is absolutely awful when it comes to alarms and notifications. If I turn notifications off it will not allow me to manually enter bolus amounts & refuses to display my current blood sugar numbers DESPITE collecting that data because nothing is missing when turned back on. I get the need to calibrate to the cgm & their app, but I do not need a 2nd urgent low glucose alarm from an Omni pod app thats already connected to a cgm with its own app. If it’s on me to calibrate the equipment so it functions properly then I should have the right to silence alarms without penalty.
Amazing!!. I like many other iOS users have been waiting a long time to be able to use this app along with the automated mode for the omnipod!! It had the manual mode but that just didn’t work to keep my glucose within range. However now that automated mode is available I no longer have to carry around the extra device for the pod! Game changer!! And it’s very simplistic compared to the device. Definitely love the app!!!!
Incompetence at its Finest. Waited years for the app to come to iPhone so that I didn’t have to use a PDM anymore. For the past few months it’s been very freeing to not carry two devices. And then, oh no, our app that works on iOS 26 doesn’t work on the same operating system on the iPhone 17! It may be months before compatibility is brought to the iPhone 17 based on some estimates that I’ve seen. Back to a PDM for me. I really, really hope that some other companies enter the tubeless pump space so that consumers are not forced to deal with an incompetent company or use a pump with a tube. If you’re considering purchasing an OmniPod, please keep this in mind.
Great to have, but…. It is terrible to have to unlock at every step, every access, every time, ESPECIALLY when you’re going low to shut off the alarm when you’ve eaten. Also, can you think of a way to silence uncritical notifications for set hours, like no «pod-going to expire in 12 hours” at 2am. Because d@mn, it would be nice to have ONE uninterrupted night of sleep every now and then, between lows, pod expiring, running low on insulin (tho it’s enough to get to 8 am), compression lows, kids, snoring spouse, dogs, etc. Work with me here?
Love it!. I love the tubelessness of the omnipod. Ive use Omni pods for about 12 years and they definitely keep my A1C at a good level. I love the communication with Dexcom. If they don’t talk to each other it’s because they are too far apart, like on different sides of the body. It works great with my iPhone 17 and has since day one. Can’t wait to get the new pods that work with this latest update.
Love the App!. First I want to thank Insulet for a great app. It was definitely worth the wait. However it is missing the feature to record sites. This is such an important feature to help with site rotations and keeping track of which sites work best. I am free of the PDM but now I have to take another action to record sites. I love the app, I don’t love having to lose functionally of an important feature to get it.
app crashes when phone storage gets slightly slow. I will have a significant amount of storage left on my phone and instead of sending a warning the ap completely shuts off and forces you to delete the app. I can’t explain how many times this has happened to me now. Also it struggles to connect to a previously existing dexcom once you re install the app so I usually have to start a new dexcom as well. And of course it makes you watch the start up video and enter in all of your settings. Honestly a serious safety issue for someone who may not know all of their settings off the top of their head.
Good so far but... This app is really good so far, but I believe there should be an option to add the Dexcom G7. I did have to go back to the Dexcom G6 in order to use this app which is OK also, having connectivity to Apple health would be great possibly support for the home screen as well as the watch would be nice to see either insulin on board or just your total sugar in general Unfortunately Dexcom G6 does not support Apple Watch integration when it comes to widgets so it would be nice to see for this
WAS going great :/. I was really excited to finally use this app and stop carrying the controller around. But after 3 weeks (with frequent sensor connection issues), I had a “Memory Corruption” error pop up, and had to delete and reinstall the entire app, rewatch all the intro videos, and put on all my settings again. The worst part was that it wasted a perfectly good pod :( I’m going back to the controller because I can’t afford to have this happen again and waste a pod in the process
After one full month… Not a single pod failure Flawless operation If integration with Libre 3 CGM was available it’d be nearly perfect! After nearly two months, I have observed little impact on my phone’s battery life, and the quick response versus dinosaur pdm. Still no pod failures. Seems likely that my previous twice monthly pod failures were really pdm failures.
Glucose NOT realtime. I like most everything about this app but there is a dangerous aspect in that when the app “times out” it still shows the minutes old glucose value! By the time I unlock the app again using face recognition, the BG value has changed. Where I used rely first on my insulin pump, I now am looking at my BG sensor’s app before the insulin pump. It the Lock sceeen that prevents the BG number from updating? Or is there an inherent issue with the app not being able to constantly show realtime glucose from my sensor?
iphone 17. I love using Omnipod. Unfortunately, the Omnipod is having a hard time connecting with the Dexcom since purchasing the new iPhone 17. All updates have been made according to instructions, but have not had a good connection in about three months which has altered my levels, especially at night time when the dexcom and omnipod are not able to talk to each other. I wish I had a better solution because it worked perfectly before I received the new phone.
Love!!. Finally!!! So happy to be able to use my phone as my pump and not carry a PDM with me!! I’m on my 2nd day and from what I’ve seen it does everything my PDM did. Also an added bonus I no longer have to worry about not seeing my screen in the sunlight. You cannot see you PDM screen in the sunlight, which I absolutely hated, so thank you for finally getting this up and running for phones!!
Mostly great. I love having an iPhone app! Finally I don’t have to carry around two phones! Mostly this app works great. The biggest flaw is that I can’t silence all the alarms. When I had the PDM, I could just leave it on vibrate all the time, and that worked well for me. Now when my pod runs out of insulin and is screaming at me, my app is screaming at me too!!! I don’t need them both screaming at me! It’s a little too insistent. It sounds like I’m going to drop dead in 10 seconds if I don’t get my pod changed right away.
Is still needs some work. The Omni pod is a good option for diabetes but every so often the app will stop working so It forces me to delete the app and put all of the information back into it.. and there is a five minute video that you can not skip. I had to watch this same video twenty different times of me only using it for eight months… if the team of this app work on fixing this bug or just letting us skip the video it would be a complete game changer. Thank you.
Automated feature does not work. I was so excited to finally be able to not have to lug around my pdm everywhere with the release of the Omnipod 5 ios app. Unfortunately, after several attempts to figure out why my blood sugars remained so high, even fasting in the morning, and pumping myself full of extra insulin, I finally realized that the automated setting which helps keep your glucose in range by increasing or decreasing insulin delivery automatically to stay within a target range, absolutely DOESN’T work on the app. With the Omnipod PDM, it works fine. So dangerous. Stay away from this app until the developers fix this issue.
Had some issues using the app, needed to switch back to my the controller.. Had several issues when I was using the app on my iPhone. Pods would not communicate with IPhone. On Thanksgiving Day I was down to m last Pod finally call the company to see if anyone else was having issues. They were. Put my last Pod on and decided to use the controller instead of my iPhone. It worked fine. I will be using my controller till I feel better about the app on the iPhone.
Make sure you have 5GB of storage for no errors!. So my app just had a memory corruption error message alert which completely shut down the app. Doing my own internet research, I discovered it’s due to not having enough storage available, so make sure you’re always checking your phone storage. Other than than, I am happy with the convenience of only having to bring around one device but I might just bring my PDM just for backup.
Glad to have it but could be better. The daily function of the app is great. There are a few tweaks that would make it much more usable. First, if we just had our face scanned a second ago, we don’t need it scanned again if we are toggling between apps. Second, bring back the location of pod tracker. This was so helpful to make sure you are rotating properly. Third, since the new update even when I properly deactivate the old pod, it still says more than one pod when activating the new one. I never had this issue before.
Upgrading phone resets app settings. Upgraded from an iPhone 15 to iPhone 16 and this app is the only one that didn’t handle the upgrade gracefully. I had to start from scratch, manually re-entering all of my settings and recalibrating auto mode. This is not sustainable - if your phone were lost or stolen, you would have no reference for your existing basal settings. So far, I have not been able to figure out how to deliver an extended bolus. Otherwise, the app works flawlessly for me and I’m so grateful that I no longer have to carry a separate PDM.
Great Product, Slow at Releasing Compatible Devices. The iPhone 17, Air, Pro and, Pro max came out over a month ago and I still am unable to use those devices for this device. It took them 6 months last year with the iPhone 16 series. If short, if you update your phone, make sure you have the machine or keep your previous phone a few months. Please make compatibility quicker.
