Bbackground audio is buggy. If you paused one to many times while listening to a file in the background it’ll just won’t work anymore. You’ll have to listen to the file with the app open or delete the tab and reopen the app. Until you paused one to many times. This is really annoying because I pause all the time while listening to files.

Fake. Scammers

Can’t export audio. Can not export audio. You can only export the text but not an audio file of that text being read.

Lies. They advertise this app to be free, then when you get it, they want4.99 a week. Same old crap, lie to get you in then charge you.

Basically Useless. You can’t even “SAVE” a voice of any kind. It only works for one individual speech job at a time. So it isn’t “Saving” anything. They shouldn’t label it as “Save”, since it just really means “SELECT”. Before I wrote this review, I had reached out to the developer to make sure I was doing it properly. They confirmed, that their “SAVE” actually really means “SELECT”. Also, it took almost 2 weeks for the developer to reply to my email. That’s a long tine for someone charging such a premium price! Honestly it’s disappointing. This app could be cool & has potential. But it’s way too complicated to use, and it doesn’t even save a voice. Pointless.

It works but definitely buggy. The ability to load files is there, you have to convert files to a pdf to import into this app. The range of voices is good, too. What I noticed to be a reoccurring bug was that the app would catch whenever coming across a [...] in a file, then suddenly speed up in voice delivery, then repeat and read out loud again the same line. The UI needs work, too but that’s icing on the cake. The app works as advertised, there is just a lot of trial and error to figure out how to use it.

Frauds. They steal your info!!!!

Awful. My English voice had an accent. This is not a racist/xenophobic angle I am taking as I am not a native speaker. English is my second language. However, the strange Eastern European-like accent the English setting has is almost incomprehensible and made the experience absolutely unenjoyable (this is not an attack on Eastern European people or their accented English). If I fluently speak English and I am able to identify this, I cannot imagine how much worse the rest of the languages are. App needs work and is definitely not worth the subscription.

App keeps shutting down even after power cycle. Downloaded app, added text, saved file, app worked for one session. After I power cycled, I tried to open app, app keeps shutting down. Also tried to change voice from male to female several times, and it would not save. As a developer, note to developers, test your app on all devices. I’m using an iPhone 8, ver: 14.4.2 Best of Luck.

Remove. I decided not to use it and can’t remove or delete the app from my iPhone. Only app I’ve had that I added but can’t remove. Why?

HORRIBLE. SOOO BAD DO NOT USE THIS APP!! So glitchy can’t even get it to read my speeches asks you to buy premium every second, sooo bad. Use speachify instead sooo much better. Horrible app

Bait and switch. I downloaded this while looking for an app that can read ebooks out loud. This said it could go it so I thought I’d give it a try. But you can’t try anything. Everything seem to force you to a sign up for their air apps subscription. I don’t mind paying for an app if it does what I need, but this won’t even let you try out any of the features. Just another scammer looking to make a quick buck.

Won’t Quit Crashing. I downloaded this app on someone else’s recommendation. I wanted to use it to help read my college textbooks but every time I push play it will read a few sentences and then crash. Deleting. It’s definitely not worth the price they’re wanting you to pay.

Good but needs work. I have been using this app for about a year now. I use it alot and it is useful to me. Occasionally, in the past, it had been a bit buggy and or slow. Nevertheless those issues are few and far between. Yet, since the last update, the app now randomly crashes. I have tried deleting saved text, closing the app, switching voices, and restarting my IPad but none of them have worked. Now I am pretty sure it is a bug. This bug is different from the previous ones, in the fact that it prevents me from using it. I

Unusable. I can’t determine if this feature is a bug, or locked behind premium, but I have yet to figure out how to actually load a file. All the read with/save to options don’t appear. As is, the app is unusable.

All it does is show me an add for pay app access. I am frustrated that I Even downloaded this. Why spam us?

Not compatible with Etextbooks. Doesn’t work with with chegg ebooks or vital-source. Very dissatisfied

It a great app but it’s buggy. I have been using this app for years now but lately it won’t finish reading the whole sentence and skip over to the next paragraph. It would also stop speaking and kick you out the app and move the time back.The app would also be a lot easier to use if they had accounts so when you delete or change phones you can get your data back.Other than those things it a great app

An alternative to speechify. I download this app as in alternative to speechify but l’ve had two problems with it. I can not upload large documents and the audio stops and skips occasionally, which is frustrating.

Never works right for me. I have premium, and here are sone of my typical experiences: The pages are jumbled up and out of order; the bot reads html rather than text; pages disappear and, where there should be the converted page, there will instead be a little photo of the page I had taken; it suddenly stops allowing me to highlight. I’m not exaggerating when I say that the majority of the times I try to use Speechify, I encounter problems which make it pointless to continue using at that time. I typically just resort to reading the textbook. I’m looking for another text. Trying to use Speechify has really been a very frustrating experience for me.

Interesting idea poor execution. The app has a lot of premium features which is ok, But there is no obvious way to tell it where to start reading from. For example if you are on chapter 4 on the third paragraph you can simply touch where you want it to start. You have to use the scroll bar thing to get it kinda somewhat close. I’d rate higher if it worked

Have to pay for it with subscription. The title speaks for itself and there are easy to find free alternatives

Don’t use it its not what you think. It’s in app purchase by the way you can’t even use the service without it trying to sell the weekly use. Yes it’s weekly not monthly for the cost just read it on your own. Not worth a penny.

Disappointed. I literally downloaded the app and got introduced with a pay screen it’s ridiculous there’s nothing you can do. You have to pay the 4.99 to even do anything. There’s better apps out there that can do much more. So stop wasting your time with this one.

Unsubscribe from this app?. There’s now obvious way to unsubscribe from this app. The description says to use iTunes but app subscriptions are not in iTunes. The App Store subscriptions doesn’t even list Speechbot as a subscription. Portugal is origin of this app which has a long history colonization of other countries and cultures. Their still at it in the 21st century.

Doesn’t work. I downloaded it and deleted two minutes later. It cuts off the first and last word of every sentence. No point in that. If I could it would be zero stars.

Complete scam. Stay away

Very buggy. A cool concept but seems like it is a scam: - you can’t actually select a premium voice. Selecting adds a checkbox, but you can select multiple premium voices and it never switches away from the selected standard quality voice. No matter what you do, it does not change voice to a premium one when you press save. Even though I am on a trial, the app forgot this and started prompting to subscribe (for 81% discount for four weeks). Even pressing restore purchase didn’t work. The channels feature is very cool. Like a blog reader for your ears.

4.99. They want you to pay 4.99 a week to have this app

My eyes hurt. Good voices and great for reading if you’re visually impaired but I encountered a ‘bug’ that hurt my eyes... the screen would go up and down as it was reading if I didn’t hold it, it’s not like it went of screen and was only scrolling down, no, it went up and down and up and down after 2 seconds of not holding it. 2/5 stars, not recommended until fixed.

Skipping. As much as I love this app I wish it would stop skipping sentence and paragraphs sometime and I does not feel reliable to use for something important. The skipping ruins the experience.

Free but not. This app is free but everything included must be paid for by a subscription.

The best text to speech I’ve ever heard.. i’m honestly blown away by the fluency and natural emphasis of this. Ive copied every article i had in my “read later” and “pocket” in order to listen through this. So much better than siri, edge, etc.

I like it, but…. You need an subscription for full access to HD voices. They want $6:49/week, which is too much to ask for a text to speech app in my opinion. Maybe if it was just one payment, I’d reconsider. Other than that I think this app is really helpful, it has some cool features even without subscribing.

Useless. Free users can't upload .docx documents. As a student, that's the format most of my items are in. This app is useless unless one wants to spend a lifetime copying and pasting something that would have taken less than a second to upload.
