After years of ModelMayhem being a joke, it renews its status. Seriously. You guys should have had an app out at least a decade ago, you wait this long and then release the bare minimum to be called an app. Beginning to think both this website and app are ran by like three creepy photographer dudes with no coding experience and refuse to ask for help. (Edit- looked into it and it’s ran by a company called “Internet Brands”, that also owns a site called “DVDtalk” if that tells you anything.) I don’t understand how this company hasn’t capitalized on the social media desire for photography/modeling more. The market is there, and somehow you’ve failed to release a single UI on either desktop or mobile that would be actually pleasant to use. There’s like 3 different ways to add people now, none of which make sense, comments, wall comments, picture comments, picture groups, messages maybe depending on if the person you’re trying to communicate with sees your friend request. And then you release an app after all of this time and it barely works. You all need to hire some new people and rebuild the entire thing from the ground up, not try to wrap an app around an already poorly built site. Trim the fat! You don’t need so many different ways to possibly interact with people, cut the bulls**t and make it simple and easy to use. Like having friend requests AND follows, PICK ONE IT MAKES NO SENSE. If ya’ll could successfully rebuild it completely, it might get some actual talent using it, not just creepy old guys that just buy a camera to poorly shoot nudes.

Just bad. Worse than the website. Not intuitive, complicated navigation, no search for location. Not iPad compatible, not even android app. The whole platform is stuck in the past, except asking for money like a champ.

is this app defunct?. It’s not syncing up with account - old avatar image is showing, and while I have 5 SWF images in my port, the app still asks to upload load images before I could use it.

Stick to the website. The app has more bugs than any other on my phone. I enjoy the community and will continue to use the website, but the app can barely load a picture, or display a message, despite updates and “bug fixes.”

Completely useless. Was excited to finally get an app but it’s literally horrible. Deleted it until it gets an update or 5. Cause that’s how much work it needs….🥴

Improvement Ideas. Thanks for creating an app, but the app is very early 2000s and we’re in 2022. Two quick suggestions: 1) Drop the “subject” field requirement when messaging and show the chats between the two people how Insta and other apps do it. 2) Invest in a UX/UI designer

So much broken. Sure. Apple blocks you from showing nsfw content but your link in app to see it links BACK TO THE APP!!! Then again your web site isn’t much better. Where’s the filter when in mobile mode? You need a new dev team if you want your site to grow. I’d love to know if the broken navigation is on purpose or not because I don’t check for messages very often because of the PAINFUL experience.

Lags, crashes, does not function.. Too many bugs. Functions don’t work. This should be an Alpha release it’s not even ready for Beta testing.

App doesn’t recognize vip membership status. I don’t want to be too critical because I know this app is brand new and I am very thankful! When I signed into the app, it did not recognize that I pay for a VIP membership to Model Mayhem. It shows me as being a non-paying member, only 5 out of the 75+ photos in my portfolio appear on the app, and many of the profiles that I visit frequently of my friends have display anywhere from 0 to 3 photos. I look forward to future updates and enhancements.

Hard to like. They sure do make it hard to use, to like photos, navigate and find models from the email blasts, etc. They really need to go back to the drawing board, maybe with some folks that know how to make useful sites. As others have mentioned, daily the feed is glacial, I’ve seen the same three models for three months. Please step up the effort, or you’ll wither away.

This app is beyond useless.. This app is rated 17+ but I can’t see any photos that are marked mature. And since even bikini photos are Unnecessary flagged as mature, what’s the point of this app if people have to go to the website to see my full portfolio? Not to mention the bugs and slowdowns.

Very basic. This is so basic it becomes a frustration, can’t sort messages or check other folders etc, the website does not always refesh or keep up so I had hopes for the app but it falls terribly short. Hope it get better soon, going to use browser for now and will check back later.

People running scams on this app. I’ve used MM before and have had good experiences and still like using it for networking purposes. However I think you guys need a way to better weed out scammers on this app. I’ve had an encounter with someone using the name of a legit company to send people bad checks claiming they will pay you to do a job and asking you to send some money to the clothing designer out of the amount they send you. I realized this when the check was no good. THANK GOD I couldn’t cash it. These people are criminals and can cause unsuspecting people to get in serious trouble. PLEASE work on a better way to screen these types of profiles so that these things don’t happen again.

What happened to MM?. Both the website and this app seem like they gave up on keeping it functional. Most things don’t work and searches are random despite location settings. Too bad was very excited for this app.

Make this like Instagram used to be. If you create an app that behaves like Instagram used to be ( a photographers paradise where we could show off our work ) this app will be great. There’s a void because IG is removing our photos, we need a safe space. It’s frustrating that the upload limit is 1M. This is why I stopped using the app tbh. This was the deal breaker for me. I’m a photographer. My phone is full of my work ( which I use to post to Instagram). If I would be able to upload larger photos I would use the app all the time. We’re in modern times ( my toaster takes photos that are more than 1M). That’s a sarcastic jab but also has truth to it.

Finally Here. This app is long overdue, but finally here. The UI is relatively clean and easy to navigate. No where near as many features as the web site (which makes sense), but the essentials are here. Very happy to be able to finally access my MM inbox from a mobile app. Off to a good start. Hopefully the launch of this app will encourage more people to join the site.

Buggy. I have a very long and complex password and am able to login on the web but not the app. Open the browser from with the app by clicking forgot password, the logging in also does not login the user on the app. Overall quality seems low, the developers should consider learning TDD.

Okay, but significantly lacking.. I haven’t used the website in a while because it isn’t convenient. When I saw the app was out, I thought it would be a great way to interact with outer artists in my area. The biggest issue I see is that, since you have to search for individuals by the MM#, maybe that should be something included in the profile on the app! There are many other problems that need work, but that is my largest complaint since it makes it much more difficult to find people. Really hoping this app becomes something great, but it is early in its stages right now.

Almost!. I was so excited to see this become available, but it’s frustrating to use and lacks features. Users bio only shows the first line, any non-PG photo isn’t available, and some search features are missing. Hoping for many more improvements!

No permission. The app doesn’t do the pop up to request permission for photos so I can’t verify my account

Improvement needed. Needs to improve a lot of things, like message function, notification… But happy to see the app Please fix all the bugs

Not great. You can’t see any mature photos on the app. Notifications don’t go away after clicking on them. You can’t browse with any real filters.

Slow, buggy, broken app. Zero effort was out into making this a functional app. Nothing loads properly and it’ll take 40 seconds to get to a broken page.

Welcome but needs improvement.. Super glad to have the app on iOS finally. Interface and design are nice, but there are some issues: You can’t see all of the photos people post - anything flagged Mature is just missing completely. The gear for settings should provide a NSFW mode check box, but it host tells you to go the webpage to pick your settings. However, even if you are set to see NSFW images on the web, the app is still missing them. This is difficult for users who may shoot artistic nude images, making the app useless. In addition, the Follow feature on the feed doesn’t do anything. Your feed is an unchanging wall of the same images you’ve seen every time you open the app. It’s not possible to send messages. If you click Send Message on someone’s profile, it opens a page to fill out SUBJECT (as if your message is an email) but there is no section to write an actual message. This app does not work in the current form as a networking tool. It’s fine I guess for browsing (incomplete) profiles, but that’s about it.

Not working. No support

Has got to be the worst app I’ve ever used ... I only had the app for 1 day and I can’t even get past creating and getting my profile approved because it lags or crashes or glitches out and ontop of that I can’t even change my profile picture to be a photo and not the generic silhouette. My phone has given this app access to all photos but still nothing comes up when I try to add my profile photo . I even tried letting it load and just walking away from my phone for a few minutes and still nothing. This app looks like it was released before it was ever tested by anybody .. I have a new phone With up to date IOS and this app will absolutely not work. It’s not convenient for me to attempt to use the desktop site .

Fire your dev team!!!. Where should I start: Notifications “sometimes” work Can’t deny friend requests, but can accept So so slow…the interface, menus I feel like MM hired the bottom of the barrel development team to make this app. Gave them a week and a 6 pack. Please put some real money into your app and website, and I’d definitely pay for premium services. But as it stands, this is a joke.

Can’t get an account verified. I finished my account and every time i hit submit it’s me to the account again

Not functional. I work as a quality analyst for a software company, and I am boggled that this app ever made it past testing. You’re rarely able to approve or deny friend requests in the app. The majority of the time, the notifications don’t update no matter how many times you close all your app tabs and try to go back in. Making changes to your profile on the app only update on the website sometimes. I don’t own a computer, and the website is only really entirely functional on the full desktop version on google chrome on my iPhone. I have no idea how it’s possible for a mobile site and an app to function as poorly as MM. I would love to use the service more, but it’s nearly impossible to do much without having a computer. I don’t know if I’ll be sticking around. I may pursue other freelance gigs because this is not it.

Stay away till update. Pros. They have an app Cons. The app Totally useless as of now. Notifications don’t go away,can’t see all of your pics, can’t message anyone,friend or not.

This should be a beta. It’s just not ready for release. Many features that you need are not included so I still have to use browser version for certain things, and it’s pretty buggy, I had to turn of notifications because I had a notification in the app that I couldn’t get to clear.

Includes the basic functionality you'd want, but none of it works right. The app doesn't months showing me a total of the same five pictures on the main feed. There must have been an update along the way because I actually have a feed I can scroll through now, but there seems to be no rhyme of reason to the photos I'm being shown. Not from photographers I know. Not models I know. Pretty often, it's groupings of 6 photos that are simply variations of the same photographer, model, and pose. The app would be worth it though, for the travel notifications which would arguably be my most frequent stop, except is utterly useless. I'm in Massachusetts and no matter what radius I set, I'm seeing postings for Chicago, Los Angeles, Canada, Oslo Norway... If you're geographically challenged, none of those are within 25 miles of me. It's like the app that was released was a collection of placeholders for ideas of things they someday WANT to include in the app, but it wasn't real important to release them in any particular sense of being functional.

This app is still being advertised????. I happened to check my model mayhem account and figured, let me check the app on the App Store to see if it had gotten any better. NOPE! It’s rated at 1.7!!!!!! Do you pay attention to what the reviews are saying? Apparently you’re not doing anything to fix this sloppy app. Are you proud of a 1.7 review??? Please just remove this app and find a developer who knows what to do and LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS!

Lots I can’t do. I can’t wait to see what improvements there are in the future! But for now: - I can only accept friend requests, not send them. - I can’t follow anyone - I get notifications that someone has messaged me or has sent me a friend request, and then I go to the app and there is nothing there for hours. Then randomly, the friend requests show when I check again much much later. - I can’t see comments or likes on my own pictures - Newsfeed almost never refreshes I’m sure this is only because the app is new, I hope to see these problems being fixed very soon

Much Ado About Nothing. In recent years MM has started to censor the work of artists; a lot. The “moderators” are a joke. Now I know why. They just had to create a lame app, even though no one cares anymore. And the Meta and 1 Infinite Loop overloads have their lame rules for art. Sticking with the ole desktop version for a little while longer to handle unfinished business. Then I am deleting my account for good. —Legacy Member

Pathetic. In an age where Model Mayhem struggles to remain relevant against heavyweights like Instagram, this app just confirms that MM is on the way out. There are so many bugs or broken features that it's not even worth the effort. The entire app is laggy. Photos don't display correctly, often cutting off the model's head. The feed consistently shows the same photos and seems to not ever get refreshed. If you do click on an image in the feed and then hit the "back" button, the feed automatically goes back to the top, forcing you to scroll past all the other images again just to continue scrolling. Sometimes there will be a "!" mark in a bubble, which on any other app in the world means to click on that mark for more information or an explanation of the warning or error. But in this app you just see the little warning with no further options. Press on it all you want but nothing is going to happen. And the list of issues goes on and on. I discontinued my premium membership on MM a few years ago due to poor customer service, but have maintained my presence on the site hoping the platform would remain relevant. This app, however, just seems to confirm its demise. For any young model or photographer just starting out, here's some advice: don't waste your time with this terrible app. Stick to Instagram.

Good concept, but unsuccessful conversion into app. I’ve been a MM member for a while now. Unfortunately, the app didn’t deliver in what it seems MM wanted to achieve. The simplified concept with the addition of a social media-style page for members to showcase new photos is great; it just needs to work. The app often logs me out and does not let me log back in (currently when I tap on the account icon to sign on it goes to a blank page and freezes), my full portfolio is not shown when I see my page, full profiles don’t load, etc. I do hope MM invests more into this app as it would be a great benefit to paid members and will expand visibility of the platform.

Not ready for prime time. Not consistent. When doing searches and browsing you get different responses than on web page, the photo selection isn’t consistent. Sometimes you get a lit if oucs and sometimes you don’t get any. Had hopes but not delivering.

Useless after recent updates. Has become useless after recent updates. Requires posting of four images to be approved and allowed to access the app - when trying to upload the images error message appears saying “oops - unable to access as not approved”

All NSFW content blocked. If your portfolio contains any NSFW images then the app is pretty useless as NSFW content is blocked with no way to turn that off.
