No keys. Cannot access the piano keys.

Please add midi-learn functionality. Would be great to be able to assign the knobs to midi controllers.

One of the best sounding iOS synths. This app sounds amazing. To my ears this sounds as good as the Moog synth apps. I’ve owned an ob-6 and own many Oberheim desktop plugins. This app nails the oberheim sound.

Great sound but odd bug with cutoff freq automation, no CC learn.. This sounds great and very oberheimish, but for some reason, when I'm recording knob movement automation in Cubasis, the cutoff knob for the filter section doesn't work. Data is recorded, but there's to label for it, (the other knobs generate a label in the automation) I can see the automation recorded in Cubasis, but when it plays back the cutoff knob doesn't move. Its like the data is just "one direction", it records the knob movements but doesn't respond to the automation being played back. I doubt it's a Cubasis issue since all the other knobs are working. Also would be great to have MIDI CC learn so I could use an external controller.

Was Pitiful. Thanks for this update. Now the app is usable on an iPhone, even though I can't read a single word on the unit - at least I can access presets and the menu. Original Feedback: Simply not usable on an iPhone. You need a magnifying glass to even see the controls, and you NEED those as the presets just auto-scroll from the first 20 to the last 20, missing the bulk of presets in the middle. How anyone can charge money for such a waste of time and not be banned from the app store is a mystery. This is a super pathetic excuse for an app.

keyboard. where is it also how hook up midi also not in audiobus so what good a program if you cannot use it

One of the best sounding synths on the iPad. This synth sounds incredible. Filter is surprisingly authentic, really gets the blood pumping. Sweeps sound amazing. I’m not the best programmer but even I can coax an amazing amount of sounds out this thing, almost every knob adjustment makes something that sounds good. Not every synth has that ability I have found. The presets are really nice too and there are a lot. If you love the OB-X then get this you won’t regret it, idk how anyone can say this emulation is not excellent.

Unfinished. The UI in Au is all messed up and not usable... please update.

Oh my!. Recreated perfectly. The presets alone are worth ten bucks. Nicely done!

Top iOS Synth. OB-XD is one of my favorite iOS synths and imho one of the best synths available. Im shocked it doesn’t have a higher overall rating. It sounds great, there’s a lot of presets available online, and it’s lightweight as an Au inside AUM. I use it all the time and I’m so happy it got ported over a few years back. Lovely pads, leads, basses, all with a warm, rich sound make this app one of my go to’s. I highly recommend it. The developer is very responsive, and continually provides updates to make sure Ob is going strong. 5 stars!

Blast from the past. I gigged in the 80’s with an OBXa .. I ended burning out its power supply .. won’t have to worry about it with this one. It really sounds great if you have the programming chops. The real OBXa had the ability to layer two sounds which I definitely used .. with this one since its AUV3 you can layer as may sounds as you want by just opening up more instances .. couldn’t do that back then either :) Hope the developer hangs with this one and gives it presets (which the real ones have) and some white pinstripes over the blue background like the real ones :) Me likey this synth. Five stars for sure.

Amassing sounding softsynth. Great update! I have dozens of iOS and desktop top of the line virtual synths and this one holds its own 100%, great buy and low cpu useage make it one of my favs, kudos to the developer for continuing to upgrade, please continue to do so, this synth is a winner!

Interface is jacked on iPad Pro. The knobs don’t line up at all with the display yet. Hope my money was a decent investment in the future. Really not sure why this is in the store right now.

Needs patch select in DAW apps. Hey the new updated version is quite good and I really appreciate the patches! I would really like to be able to select a patch in Nano Studio 2 with the standard patch change buttons and search functions. Is that coming? I imagine so, but thought I’d ask. Great work so far...it sounds excellent!

Unfinished app. Why did apple approved a unfinished app. The GUI is messed up in iPad Pro 10.5 (iOS 11). No virtual keyboard wow. The developer shouldn’t rushed an unfinished product

It is only a programer page without menu. Cannot save or do anything.. Any of the pages that you see on the app store, none of them exist. The only page available in the software is the programmer page and without any menu. So you can’t really save or open any patches. Is an OB-X with chronic amnesia. There is no manual neither. It might be very usable but only a 25% of the software works. I wrote Jorge Reales and informed it, I wrote also Disco DSP that apparently is related to this product. Lets see what happen during the next week. I cannot give it more than 1 star in the conditions it is. Specially having so many apps in the market that are fully usable, stable and sound supper fat!

The real deal!. I owned the original OBXA back in 1978. This version is so realistic, I get to shut my eyes and remember great memories of Music School. This is the closest iOS, VST, Au emulation there is in my opinion. Not only 5 stars, but 10 stars of gratitude and awe on how you managed to create this so realistic version of a Monster Synth. A big thank you!

😕 meh.... Its not too visible on an iPhone so you really depend on presets... but It’s really more of the same as other synths out there.. and if you scroll through the presets you’re gonna find that there are a bunch of patches that are so similar that you’ll wonder if all they did was do a minor tweak to the same patch and save it over and over as a different patch with every other minor tweak. The high number of patches was the selling point for me, so you can see why this upsetting. Also the patch list menu will get you frustrated when you have to jump back into the patch list with every selection since it disappears after every selecting each patch and just driving you to say “ to heck with this “ I’m not sure if it’ll ever get used in this current state. Too bad because I was really hoping to like it.

Paraphonic? No Categories Either. Perhaps I’m overlooking a polyphonic enable function, but it seems I can only play 2 notes at a time? Would like to see sounds broken down by category as well (pads, leads, etc).

Mostly perfect. Ever since I was a kid, I was obsessed with the sound of the Oberheim Ob X series , so I had to get this as soon as I noticed it in the App Store. It is exactly as awesome as I hoped for…mostly. I know the GUI has been optimized for the iPhone now and is much improved from earlier versions. There is one issue though… when using it as an AU in GarageBand, I can not access the last two banks as if I try to scroll down , the bottom two banks are cut off, and one of those banks is the empty one for user presets. Now the work around for the other is to enter standalone mode, choose the preset and hit “copy” load up a “default” preset in one of the few accessible banks that have one, and then hit paste in the menu. The tricky part is, if you forget to load up a default preset first, you’ll accidentally overwrite the loaded preset. That is the legit only issue I have but it’s kind of a big one

Thanks for the most recent update!. The new scrollable UI is far superior to what we had before. I haven’t had the chance to fully get dirty with this synth but it looks promising, is not too expensive and is AUV3, that’s mostly enough for me to spend a few bucks on an iOS synth. The little I’ve used it, I’ve enjoyed the sound too! Now that the controls are far better I will use it a lot more (I’m an iPhone user and the previous UI was a little too tiny to be conveniently set). It would be a blessing if we could also zoom in a little bit, enabling us to use the AUV3 in portrait mode on iPhone on apps such as AUM. This would be massive! A little heads up about a bug: turning a knob Downwards doesn’t seem to affect the UI Window however turning it upwards does and acts as a drag on the interface. Workaround: touch screen with another finger to keep screen position locked while changing knobs. Hopefully this little detail can be fixed? I can’t see a keyboard on the regular app, but I only use AUV3 so to me this is irrelevant (although it did use to have before if I recall correctly, dev it might be a good idea to not remove it from the standalone app (in case you did, I’m not sure)).

Where is Midi Learn function?. This is a great app, but there doesn’t seem to be any midi learn function.You can’t even assign a simple cc7 or cc 11 for volume control.

Sound is a 5 , interface ...... Would be fantastic to use skins similar to the VSTi version...layout needs fixing to be nice , also fitting in au3 windowed space better would be great. Needs midi keyboard would be best added to the pics too btw . That said I love the sound engine , the vsti is one of my all time favorites coming from a person who’s used them since model e .

Pretty raw.. It is a nice start and has great potential, but without effects it’s just too raw and dry to use.

OB-Xd review. 5 star. I purchased all Jorge’s apps. I’m trying to recreate that haunting pad sound from Foreigner’s waiting for a girl like you with this app… I think I’ve almost got it!

Sounds thick and analogy.. As many have listed, this app does need some updates to really shine, but overall it’s a great early version and the developer seems very attentive to user needs. Update needs: GUI scaling or layout redesign for better size of editing parameters, especially on iPhone. Way too small to use (check Moog model 15 for how they do GUI scaling or IceGear’s Lagrange’s GUI side scrolling layout method. GUI color scheme change options ( want black with blue lines) GUI button fixes, ( sometimes unresponsive to touch changes) Perhaps a stronger open style font choice for logo and a more distinct app icon Settings panel with manual, audio buffer size, and or other useful things Built in presets and a way to import them Built in hideable midi keyboard in stand alone mode with midi learn

Almost there. This app has some potential but needs a few things to take it to a 5 star app. 1st it needs some presets or a way to load presets. The desktop version allows you to load patches so please allow the app to do the same because there are patches out there that could be used. 2nd even though you can access a virtual keyboard via a Au host like GarageBand, it needs its own in standalone. And 3rd when loaded in GarageBand the app on my iPad is too small on the screen with the keyboard to be able to tweak the knobs in real time while playing instead of having to enlarge the app to edit then minimize it to play. I have an IPad Air. Make these changes and you will be in business. Thanks for the app!

OB xa memories. I’ve never written a review and had to here because this app instantly took me back to my own OB-xa I used in countless sessions here in Detroit in the ‘80’s. I never used presets then and would program from scratch. MUCH easier time pre-DX 7 and digital age. Fun too. Thanks for designing this. I think it’s fantastic.
