One of my few favorite apps. This app is great. Nice features that are hard to find. I used to take screenshots when I wanted a still from a video. This app makes it simple with far less storage needed. Quality of images is great. Looking for a hard to get still is a cinch with all of the video speed options. This app is worth the money. I’ve had it for over a year.

Amazing app but why……. Why……are they not charging for this? It’s a great app and so easy to use. It does an amazing job with a simple and clean interface. No ads. No pop ups. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be charging for this. I would have paid. I’m going to donate but you should have been charging for this all along.

Useful Tool. This app has been really helpful to capture screenshots from videos. It works so much better than the editing tool in Google photos. I love that you can adjust the speed, so you can really get the frame you want.

Useful but suddenly expensive. I’ve been using this app for a long time, and was surprised to find it suddenly costs $20/year. That’s a lot of money for a simple app (and I don’t want a more complex app – it was almost perfect as is). I’d be happy to pay $20 once, or a (much) smaller amount as a subscription, but not so much as a subscription. Especially when the app can be emulated (albeit with a loss in quality) with a simple screenshot. If the price stays high, expect to be undercut by competitors.

Good but useless after the trial. The app does what it’s supposed to do and does it well. It’s intuitive and simple. Unfortunately, the subscription model drove me away looking for other apps and just back to taking screenshots. I would pay a one-time fee to purchase the app, but I won’t pay yearly for an app that isn’t critical to my daily activity. If you want to gate the filters behind a smaller monthly/yearly charge, go for it, but the unlimited photo capture needs to be opened up with a simple app purchase.

So easy to use with great quality!. I love this app. My regular iPhone 14 now gives me a weird filter on all my photos but now that I have this app I can fix the quality and making it look great again!

Feature request. This app is incredible; I’m amazed by how there’s no catch (needing to pay to remove a watermark, limit to how many free uses, etc.)—it really is everything you devs say it is. :) However, there’s one feature that I wish would be implemented: the option to save all frames from a video at once. It would make the creation of high-quality gifs so much easier. Right now I have to set the scrubbing speed to “snail” (which is hilarious because the specific video I’m working with is actually a video of a snail) & save frames one by one, which is very time consuming. Anyway, amazing app—I just hope you’ll consider adding this feature. Thanks so much.

INCREDIBLE :D. I recently needed to do an animation project that required. E to film a video and screenshot every single frame. I tried using the photos app but it was a total failure. I tried other apps as well. BUT I FINALLY STU,BLED UPON THIS AND HALLELUJAH MY PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED. I put it in snail mode and boom was able to easily screenshot all the frames I needed (over 600 lol) TYSM!!!

Great App. My favorite feature is the ability to adjust the speed of video allowing you to easily lock in on the feature you wanted to catch, plus you usually find extra things you didn’t see before.

Nice quality with moreoptions than others. I downloaded a few and this app is fast, allows you to see video without further compression, and can output photos in 3 different file formats A nice and usable app.

Best ‘Screenshot’ replacement for iPhone!!!. Taking videos in HDR on iPhone does not give the ability to capture a screenshot of that same video. With Frame Grabber, you’re able to take a ‘screen grab’ of that video, and still retain the quality of the video!!!

Best Frame Capturer. Worth my download, usually a bunch of apps try to bait you into a subscription that doesnt even do what you need but this is different an actual way to tale videos all the time and just take the best photos you want bless the Coders

💥 Is everyone crazy.?????. Is everyone seriously crazy.?? I just got this app based on so many great reviews. I grabbed a frame from a video on my iPhone and saved it with the 100% quality setting. Then I did a screenshot from the same video. I use an app called Resize it which shows the file size. The size of the picture that this app saved was 1920x1080. The size of my screenshot was 2436x1125. So much for this app being so amazing at saving high quality images from videos. Who are all of these people raving about this app that saves an image that’s smaller than just doing a simple two button press screenshot.??

Makes Frame Grabs Super Easy!. This is one of those apps that, once you use it, you wonder how you ever lived without it. Frame Grabber makes selecting and exporting 4K video stills effortlessly simple. I needed to grab multiple frames from a 4K video of mine, and Frame Grabber took all of the hassle out of the job. Saves time, and excellent quality… Highly recommended. (Totally worth donating ice cream!)

Video to pictures. Great if you’re a person who takes more videos then pictures. I always end up wanting some part of the videos in picture form and screen shots ruin the quality

Great, But Subscription Model Limiting. This app is really well made, it’s as simple as that, it’s visually pleasing, simple to navigate, and offers a solution to a problem many don’t even realize they have; the hallmarks of a successful application. The only recommendation I can give is to change the subscription model. Although I of course understand the incentive to switch to it in the beginning, since this app offers a better solution to something many already do (simply screenshooting a video) and is specific to that function, the subscription model will drive most people away and back to simple screenshotting, as at the moment it just isn’t the best value and the psychologic aspect of recurring payments will only harm that. I recommend implementing a one-time-purchase option for slightly more than the one year subscription ($25-$30 for example would be effective) and offering a monthly or yearly subscription model as a cheaper option. This option, although decreasing recurring payments, is very likely to bring more money in overall.

Simple and does the job. Does exactly what you expect it to do: extract a high-res frame out of a video file. Instead of losing quality on a screen capture, get the full resolution of your original video’s quality.

Loved until this morning. I have LOVED this app for so long, but this morning’s update is so disappointing. I can no longer zoom in on my subject to see which frame is the most in focus while browsing frames. I have to zoom in and out at every individual frame. Capturing animal photography is part of my work and this was my best tool. But I can’t go through hundreds of frames anymore as it would take too long. Also the save button in the bottom right made so much sense. I need to use two hands now with the slider on the bottom and save on top. Would love to see it move back toward the perfect functionality it was.

Great app!!!. Seeing as iPhone takes low res screenshots from video, I’d been loading my videos onto my laptop and taking high res screenshots using Windows Photo Editor. But the Windows app randomly loses the “save a screenshot” feature and I finally got fed up and gave up on it. 5 minutes after downloading this Frame Grabber app, I’m never turning back! Can do it all on iPhone now and grab great high resolution screenshots from video. Love this app so much I donated to the developer (I believe in supporting good apps.)

Was a great app when it was free. I had been using this app for a few years and works wonderfully well. Recently a pop up alerts the user about 3 day free trial and then a $19 per year subscription. At this point I can just screen shot the frame in the photo app. Then edit the photo using the cropping tool. That is a Free solution.

Use it daily!. I use this every time I post to instagram, and other things too. It’s easy to use, fast, and just awesome. No extra features behind a paywall... everything you need to turn your videos into images. Thanks for the app Arthur!

Intuitive tool for grabbing the perfect photo!!. So intuitive that within a minute of opening the app, I was able to grab 10 stunning still frames of my horse that I never would have been able to capture in real time. Thank you for this amazing tool.

App Used To Be Great. I’ve been a user of this app for years and loved it. Never had any issues whatsoever, until today. Go to use it and find out I now have to pay 20 dollars for a subscription, the thumbnails shrunk in size and do not show video time on them anymore and the app language is no longer in English nor can I change it back to English. Seems like a classic case of fixing something that’s not broken. The app was perfect, I am now researching an alternative

Such a well-polished app! Open Source + Awesome Privacy Policy. This app looks so clean! It’s super simple to use, but not lacking in features. I was surprised to see EXIF viewer built in and there are many sort/filter options to quickly track down the video you want. Also open source and awesome privacy policy are the cherry on top.😁

I don’t know why I didn’t get this app sooner. I used to be a peasant and would take screenshots of my videos in my camera roll but as soon as I downloaded Frame Grabber I feel as if I have moved up a whole social class. My current self takes pity on my past self. These deplorable actions I used to consider to be “standard” are now nonexistent and unheard of. This app is well worth it. Don’t be a peasant, wasting your time cropping the blank space out of sub-par screenshots anymore. Just download this app. Your future self understands and will thank you.

I love this app. FrameGrabber does what I aim for in my own apps: it accomplishes a needed task in a straightforward way, with a straightforward purchase mechanism. Nicely done. If you’re trying to choose from all the apps that do more or less what FrameGrabber does, you won’t regret ending your search here.

This is not technology it’s witchcraft!. This is an outstanding utility for me. I highly recommend this app! Apple corporation should consider giving this app as part of the suite when you buy an apple product whether it’s a phone or iPad. i’m about to look at other offerings from this company.

Great App. Bad Subscription.. I don’t use this app often, maybe two or three times per year, but was disappointed to see that I could only export one frame before being nagged to subscribe. Unfortunately, because I use the program, so little, spending $20 a year for a subscription is not some thing that I will be doing. I’m going to keep the app installed and see when I’ll be able to export my one remaining screenshot in to see if the creator modifies the subscription pricing. I am the type of person who prefers to pay for an app once, and would gladly pay the subscription price one time, or maybe even a little more knowing that I’m only going to use the program a few times a year, but I don’t want to pay $20 a year for five uses and then have to pay that again next year for five more uses.

Excellent. A truly excellent FOSS project that works exactly as intended. If you enjoy it I encourage you to purchase the $4 donation. Really hoping that this continues to be maintained. 💜 If possible, it would be cool to have a feature that lets you download every frame of a video with one tap instead of having to manually save each one.

Only way to screenshot a video!!. When taking pics I always do a 4K video instead. I would then go into the video and screenshot the best shots. But screenshots are a little blurry, have always wanted the screenshot to preserve the 4K quality. Finally found my answer!!! This app is amazing!! Thank you!

So glad this exists. Was able to change my 30 fps video into 12 fps by extracting every image in the correct time exactly. Perfect for grabbing that frame you need as a jpg without visual quality loss. 10/10. And i dont gotta pay. Love you for making this.

Uninstalled Plz Read!. Many tech YouTubers were giving this app a lot of good buzz. So much so that I started using it. However, after a while, I stepped back and tried to use the app once again, only to find that it asked for a $20 subscription for a year with no other way to use the app. You could either sign up for the free trial, then cancel and uninstall, or you had to pay the $20 to continue using it for a year. I can't say if this was the right business decision or not; it just depends on how many users will actually pay for the subscription, or how many, like me, will uninstall and look for better alternatives. I wouldn't mind a donation feature or only being able to save and export 50 photos a day, with the option for the $20 subscription to pop up afterward.

Love this.. I made a video where I was taking a bunch of still pictures from 4K by doing a screenshot on my iPhone. It was pretty hard to get a specific frame from videos of blue jays flying. This made it so easy and quick. Thank you for inventing it!

Was great, now expensive yearly sub. This app gave my senior mom her first lesson in bait and switch subscription apps, and let me tell you, she was incredibly disheartened to find out she’d need to spend $20 a year to keep using it. I installed it myself and gave it a try, and it really really does a good job at extracting single frames from video. If you’re someone like my mom who regularly accidentally takes video and then wants a photo from it, it’s a great app, but you’d have to use it a whole lot to make it worth $20 a year. Neither her or I do, so I gave her an alternative (won’t name it here, but it’s a $3 one time purchase, search the App Store you can find it.) I really wish apps like this would forgo the subscription model and just do a one time purchase. This one was good enough I’d probably have dropped $20 as a one time purchase. Not everything has to be a subscription, and for an app that essentially does one thing, $20/yr is a lot.

Not quite what I thought it would be.. I read an article online bragging about this app and how you can take a frame from your 4K video and keep it next to perfect quality. Yea, not quite. After saving the photo/frame, I still had to do some editing to try and match the crispness of the video.

Best Picture Grabber!!. I have been looking and looking for the best way to grab vibrant photos from my landscape and Sky videos. Frame Grabber does a better job than any other app or software I have found. Thank you so much, guys!

exactly what I needed!. was finally able to get HD screenshots from concert vids so I could post them! the customizable speeds and the ability to go frame by frame is perfect for my attention to detail!

Subscription issues is latest bug. I complained when the app went subscription model. It gets updated a often so I guess it’s safe to say it’s buggy. The latest issue I have is the app lost track of my annual subscription. When I tap renew subscription in Settings>General I get an error message stating, “No purchase found to restore — Okay”. I was able to get the app to restore my subscription by tapping “Restore purchase” at the bottom-left of the START FREE TRIAL screen. But if the app crashes I have to restore again. I’ve reached out to the developers but they haven’t responded yet.

Great app!!. Screenshooting anything results in a lesser quality image, so being able to capture anything off of any videos you’ve saved really maintains the quality of the frame!

5 stars so I can grab stills from over 2 videos!. If leaving a 5 star review allows for premium access without a monthly subscription pay wall than this will be well worth it :)! So far my two photos kept their quality and exported quickly, here’s to hopefully more! Yipee!!

I use it A LOT, I've saved over 50k screenshots using it, and now it's practically useless. WHY? Did you get rid if the folder view and timestamp???? I have well over 1000 video clips and it was cake to find what I needed because I could just go to the folder it's in. Now I have to scroll and scroll and scroll and oh yay my hand is flaring up from all the scrolling... and crap, what did the thumbnail of the video I want look like? Nope that's not it... oh yay I get to scroll through everything all over again. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEAAAAASSSSEEEEEEEE! I'm begging you, PLEASE bring the ability to access folders back, for the love of everything holy.

Excellent App, Does What it is Supposed to do. I am taking time lapse videos of wildlife. This app allows one to easily review the videos using manual scrubbing or predefined playback speeds stopping and being able to extract frame(s) of choice. Works well with photo processing apps like Adobe Lightroom. Keep up the good work. Thanks.

Simple. Easy. Brilliant.. Just finished a triathlon and my husband took more videos than pictures. Tried all which way to grab stills on the iPhone from those vids. Nope! Only option is screen capture then crop out the controls. No bueno. Found this app recommended all over the place. Downloaded in 5 seconds, opened it up, BAM! Frame grab done. Image quality is five star, service five star. This is a wonderfully simple app to use and the image is great. The only drawback- and not so much a drawback as an inconvenience- is that there’s no clear way to save directly to my photos library. Maybe there is a way, but I missed it. UPDATE: I was wrong: There IS a very simple fix to save directly to Photos. I just missed it. Creator Arthur Hammer responded immediately with an instant fix. I look forward to your next app, Arthur. BRAVO.

App is alright, please stop begging for review. The app starts out to be free (or a lot cheaper than what it is now, can’t remember the exacts). I can deal with the price part. I use it often to grab good quality photos from video so I paid for the full year subscription. Then it keeps begging for reviews, like every time I save a photo, it has a pop up window and asks for a review. I’m so tired with this, i just want to pay and be able to use the app, nothing more. But the pop up window is just pushing me over the edge, and I guess I’ll have to write this review to be in left in peace. So here you go, five star app, minus 3 stars for the non stop begging for review.

Not from my wallet!. Okay. When I first started using this app, I would’ve rated this a 6 out of 5 stars. It was so perfect and easy to use. It literally became a hobby of mine whenever I had the time to extract amazing shots. But now you guys are running after our money. And not just a little— quite a bit. Why so much annually?? Like other people are saying, I would be so down to a one-time payment option at that price instead of paying every year like that 🤬. You’re instead pushing people away, such as me. Farewell.

Indispensable app. Constantly using this to grab a meaningful frame from the Animated videos that I create. The video tells a story, but you can’t post videos everywhere. I’d like to grab a frame that represents the message.

Good app but I’m not a fan of subscriptions. This is a great app but I just can’t justify paying for a subscription when the sole purpose is to make stills from videos. I can go back to making stills from video the original way by making a screenshot. You really should consider making it one time pay for this application.

Needs an update for 5 stars. This app needs an update to allow sharing a video directly to the app for a better workflow. Needs integration into the new shortcuts app.

Very cool. Does exactly what you need. No frills.. Apps like these can often try to act as Swiss Army knives, yet fail to meet the very directive they set out to achieve. Not this app. This is not only free, but has an intuitive UI, needs no tutorial or introduction, and even has Taptic feedback for frame scrubbing. This app is a keeper.

No longer free and now clunky.. So this previously awesome app now needs a subscription. Understandable but $20 is a bit much especially with no warning. The new app crashes. The old app allowed me to easily save a photo and continue to scroll through the video to the next frame I wanted to save. The new app requires me to apply ‘No filter’ and then save. Then I have to go ‘back’ to the video to continue selecting frames. The small thumbnails make it harder to select the video I want to grab a frame from. I prefer the previous version :(

App says 3 days trial but it’s more like 3 frame trial.. Downloaded the app to grab frames from my videos, but it asks for payment after just 3 frames.

Reliable. after seeing this on Reddit, I decided to get the app and wasn’t disappointed when using the app. Works all the time, I will leave a four star review because I hope that there will be future improvements and new features. Future features and improvements: A better layout of everything would be great, it’s just a bit congested but the layout when in a video is fine though.

Bait and switch. You’ll notice all the 5 star reviews are from before the developer introduced subscriptions. Why does the app need continuous money to work, when it didn’t before?

I used to “own” this app. I paid for this app and loved it; super useful. So a funny cosmetic/interface update comes along and… now it’s gone to a subscription model and I can’t even export a still anymore? No legacy version for those of us who paid? You’re supposed to ADD features and functionality to get us to pay more, not take away ALL of it.

Previous basic feature locked behind subscription?. Got the app a long time ago when the developer advertised or gave it away on Reddit temporarily (don’t remember if it was always free). Anyways can’t use the main feature of extracting frames anymore. Seems kinda scummy and possibly against the app stores rules to take away a feature that didn’t even require ongoing maintenance.

This app should’ve stayed unmaintained and free. And you could’ve built another app eg frame grabber 2 built on the latest swift features with expanded functionality that you subscribe to use and gets regularly maintained. Went from being the best to the fk.n worst.

Non-premium is essentially useless. If you don’t pay a ridiculously priced subscription fee you get to save like, three frames. Then it seems like you never get to use the app again. What’s the point in limiting the quality for the free version if it isn’t even useable?

Works pretty well for finding good photos in videos.. Have only used it for finding good photos in video from drone or other and seems to work well.

Not recommended!!. I purchased this as a free app and really liked how it worked. However after this latest update (bug fixes only) I now am only able to get a three day free trial and then I have to subscribe for $19.99 a year. Not happening. I do not, nor will I, pay for any subscription-based apps. I will search for other free or minimally priced apps. Very disappointing for sure!

Works Perfectly!. I want it to be able to get pictures of exact moments in sports based on the movies that I took. This worked perfectly! I also took a video of a lightning storm, and was able to export the frames of lightning strikes.

Sad. I’ve been following/using this app for a very long time since the very beginning. You could at least have a free tier for 3 video screen grabs a day. That you changed to the subscription method without any consideration for those that purchased your app before is really pretty sad.

Great app, but requires a subscription now. I enjoyed using this app and used to recommend it to others. It solves the very basic need to grab a frame from a video. My only complaint is the requirement of a subscription. $20/year isn't a lot but adds to the ongoing burden of more and more subs. This needs a one time buy option or lower subscription price. There are equivalent free solutions.

New User. I’ve been anxious to extract specific images from videos for so many years with awkward phone captures with little or rubbishy effect, and by accident I came across this Frame Grabber app. Exactly what I was looking for. So easy.

When I don’t discover this until after I’ve downloaded, you’ve wasted my time. The app does what it claims, but I’m not subscribing.

Satisfied User. Simple user interface, and does exactly what it is supposed to do. Delete/Favorite function on the export screen would be a useful addition but otherwise no critique at all.

Perfect app to grab perfect photos. Been using Frame Grabber for over a year now. Works amazingly! I record 4K videos of me doing something, grab the frames, then boom! Perfect photos. So happy this exists

Was great but not anymore. It was an awesome app, had ads but you could save as many photos as you wanted. You could also zoom in on photos to see the details. Now, you cannot really zoom, in as it bounces back to the full photo after you lift your fingers, and they have made it so you have to pay to save photos rather than having ads, which is dumb.

Love this app!. Makes grabbing frames from videos so easy. I love the speed feature so I can watch at my own pace and pick the best frames.

Fantastic app makes it easy to save photos. One of my favorite apps to grab stills easily from my videos. Can easily scrub at multiple speeds to find just the right frame.

Works great. Being able to control the playback speed to hone in on the desired frame is very useful.

Killer Frame Grabber app!. Very easy to use and intuitive. I was trying to find a simple app that would help me capture high quality stills of HD videos I shot in Zion National Park with my new iPhone 12 Pro. The stills I was able to capture during my hike up Angels Landing and The Narrows are AWESOME. Great Job on this App!

Perfect & with ZERO Ads. I used my “live” images to find the perfect frame(s) from all of my once single frame “live” images. It worked just as well with 4K videos!

Was free, now it’s not.. I loved this app. It was simple, easy to use, and didn’t put a cap on my screen grabs. So I was very surprised and soooo disappointed this morning when after 3 screen grabs it popped up with “you have to pay to get more!!” So upset. I will definitely be deleting this app and finding another one that doesn’t cap your screen grab limit behind a paywall.

Best-kept secret. Frame Grabber is the best way to get candid photos, moments that go by fast, and photos of groups with me in them! I teach a course on smartphone photography for parents, and frame grabber is one of my best tips:)

Good App!. This is a really good app for those who are trying to rotoscope on a mobile phone. It’s fairly easy to grab each frame and save it to your camera roll. If it gave you more options on file formats this would be an easy 5 stars but other than that I really recommend this app!

Works as advertised. I have been using this for a couple of years when I need a still from a video. I would Recommend it to ever iPhone photographer.

What I was looking for. Great app. Came across it on a Reddit. Was looking for a way to save video screenshot in a higher resolution. Works perfectly, although it looks like free grabs are no longer offered.

Does the trick. Easier than trying to pause on the exact moment because it separates the frames one by one

Good app ruined by greed. I had found this app through Reddit in 2022, and the developer started with good intentions. It was a beautiful app that simply worked, in a world filled with aggressive manipulation, it was a simple solution. Sadly, in June 2023, it was updated to hold functions hostage behind a paywall. No thanks, I will just send videos to my laptop and use VLC. It was great, and by ruining it, I will not give the developer any money, and have uninstalled it. C'est la vie!

Never Screenshot Again!. Screenshot captures a 3mp photo on my 14Pro. This app lets me grab a frame from a video as a picture and they’re 8 or 12mp! Makes much better pictures

Easy to use, but need to play with more. It seems like you can only export to Photos if you pay for the full app. Otherwise you can only “share”

Handy little app. I sometimes film videos and forget to take pictures. This is exactly the app I need to instead of trying to take a screenshot of my own video like a barbarian.

Was a great app when it was free. I had been using this app for a few years and works wonderfully well. Recently a pop up alerts the user about 3 day free trial and then a $19 per year subscription. At this point I can just screen shot the frame in the photo app. Then edit the photo using the cropping tool. That is a Free solution.

Great free app to get a pic from a video. I was able to get a great picture of myself by grabbing a frame with this app from a video taken with my rear camera. Simple interface. Easy to use.

Very convenient, does what I needed it to do.. Needed to save frames from a space where it was too dark to take pictures. Worked perfectly.

Couldn't be easier; full frame clarity. A high quality frame-grabbing utility. Isn't bloated with features and tools. Would be an unqualified recommendation to everyone if it wasn't for the absurd annual subscription.

Best frame grabber. This app rocks. You can export in full resolution to HEIC, and it has a frame stepper so you can dial in the exact frame to extract. You can even pick your compression level, and it’s free, and open source!

Subscription? Really?. I liked this app until I tried to use it today and they wanted to charge me a $20 automatically renewing subscription to keep using it. What a joke! I would pay maybe $3-$5 one time to download this app. A subscription model for this thing is a delusional cash grab. Be aware that any positive review from before around June 2023 was written before this change.

So helpful!. This app is super helpful. When I record in 4K and HDR, I can’t just take a screenshot of the video because it’ll loose quality. So this app is great for grabbing a still from a video!

Great app!!. Screenshooting anything results in a lesser quality image, so being able to capture anything off of any videos you’ve saved really maintains the quality of the frame!

Awesome app!. So glad I found this app! Saves photos at full resolution, not distorted like a screen; the equivalent of extracting photos on computer! My only tiny request is to some how add a way to save directly to Photos app without opening share tray

The best I’ve tried :). I tried “grab picture” another app. It didn’t even save the right frame. Like really?! This one is actually accurate and waaaay faster upload :D
