I paid for a free app. OK , I’ll try this again. Last review fell into a hole. Powered by Google, you say? Well, Google translate does offline translation, doesn’t interrupt with promotions (yes, even this paid app, Pocket Translate, that I foolishly subscribed to) and I’m guessing that Google translate has some kind of support, though I didn’t need it. OTOH, Pocket Translator does not do offline translation, it has intrusive notifications that hit at just the wrong time, like at a metro station, and support is Zendesk, with inane and irrelevant knowledge base links. I subscribed for a month and never used this app because it was hard to use and was worthless unless I had a wifi or cellular connection. And user ratings and reviews in the App Store? One word, five star reviews like “great!" Definitely real.

It’s amazing. Liking the app since I can switch from one language to the other .. being bilingual I can speak and read a different language however some words are tough to translate or the meanings of some .. this app is on point in my bilingual translation ❤️

Translation. This app is a lifesaver! I’m trying to court a young Korean female and my Korean is not exactly up to par but this app can translate both ways to read and write in Korean or any other language you need. I wouldn’t have a shot with this beautiful young woman if it weren’t this lifesaving app! Thanks Translator!

Great app but font was difficult to read. Returning home from a recent trip to Venice, Italy, I was seated next to an interesting man. I regret that I didn’t pay to enable my wi-fi because I know we’d have enjoyed the ability to chat. After landing I was able to learn that he was coming from Turkey to visit his son and 2 grandchildren. I gave 4 Stars because of the translation quality and ease of use. I would have given 5 stars if the gentleman would have been better able to see the font. Maybe there is a way to adjust the font size?

GOGGLE TRANSLATE 💻💡. Dear creators of goggle translate and people reading this goggle translate is a good app but it has some faults one fault is that you have to pay for unlimited translations 💰 but what happens if you go somewhere and you get lost what to do what to do oh I know pay for google translate but I need this money for food so I think 🤔 the creators of google translate should let you have unlimited translations I also think that you have to pay because they want the money 💰 💴 💵 so please at least let us have a certain amount a year so we can y’all to people please . My translate app. I’m so happy that I find the translate app and that they have it IOS plateform. I have some friends that are Korean and it’s good that I can speak with them in there language not just and English this app really helps with that . Translate is a game changer for anyone who is traveling or living an other countries with limited English very wonderful app I love it.

AWESOME TRANSLATOR!!!. I especially love this particular Translate App, because of the ease of being able to hold down the microphone while speaking, and to instantly see it translated into your chosen language, so the person you had it translated for can instantly hear it spoken in their language. Then, you can explain to that person, how to answer back using it the sane way as you just did.

Ease of Use. The Google Translate App is diverse, and extremely easy to use. The feature for copying the text helps you practice at any convenient time, and the listen feature helps you annunciate the words and phrases...great App!

Translation app. I love this app! I work in a field where translating correctly is very important. Not everyone has access to an interpreter. This app makes my job much easier!

Works well!. We used the translator in Italia while visiting friends and family who didn’t not speak English. I now use it all the time to communicate with them through texting.

Almost perfect. I think that there should be an feature where you can get a picture from your camera roll, so that if I take a screenshot of a foreign text I can have it translated. Other than that, amazing job!

Fort Bragg, NC. Great app for pronunciation. I’m taking German at a local college and we are required to give quite a few oral reports. So, I like to use the app to make sure I’m saying the words correctly using the speak option. So far so good and I’m looking at getting an A in the class.

PRIORITY MESSAGE PLEASE READ BEST APP YET TO COME. I’m so happy to have finally found an app that I can select both languages that I am going to speak into the app and I select which language I want what I said translated into and I can’t believe how accurate the verbal communication was translated correctly into a text format in a Different language then of which I spoke in. Love this app!!! This app has so many more features that I have yet to explore and I plan to explore more features in the app soon and I am talking about REAL soon…… and you know you don’t even have to ask for me to leave my honest opinion when I use the other features on the app. Please remember that I will be back here very soon with another review!!!👌🏽

Great app!. One of my go to translation apps for the few languages I don't yet speak! Not sure how accurate it is in Asiatic languages or middle Eastern languages, but based on anecdotal evidence from native speakers, it's very accurate! My only wish would be for easier use when switching between the language being translated and the language translated into for practice of pronunciation, but, despite this, this is still one of the best around! Definitely recommend!!!

Translator. This is an excellent app for translations. I’m using app to communicate with a friend that speak Spanish and I can easily go between the two languages using the text and copy function. I’m learning some Spanish as well.

Easy to use, powerful yet simple UI!. Translate is so easy to use! It’s user interface doesn’t get in your way of doing the work it was designed to do, e.g., translate one language into another. It’s ability to recognize the language would merit a 6th star if that were possible.

My travel bestie. As I’ve recently jumped headfirst into testing out a nomadic lifestyle, this tool has become my travel bestie. I’m presently in Mexico and though I know some basic Spanish, sometimes I easily get mixed up with phrasings and how to arrange the words. My travel bestie is always ready to assist. Love it!

Easy and invaluable. As a Lifeskills teacher doing Distance Learning It is so important that I communicate to my students regularly. I have several Hispanic students who have difficulty understanding Content without direct support from the staff And I do not speak Spanish. The translating service is easy and fast ! I type my message and Then say I want it translated toSpanish voila! It is there for me to write in a message to my students. Was told to give 5 stars. As I would love to use the camera option, I believe the use and pay to play is over rated. When I finished typing all of the words I needed to translate (instead of paying for the camera use) I copied and pasted my intended words to translate for when a survey said to give 5 stars if I was enjoying it but when I clicked a star any lower than 5 it said I "exceeded the translation limit" so that is why I give 1 star.

Translation. So glad to have the opportunity to utilize this app, it is necessary when you do not speak Chinese, because it is hard language to learn and read.

Excellent Resource!. This app came in very handy when attempting to understand the Spanish language on a recent vacation. Not only does it give one the ability to go from one language to another, it also has a speech button to allow one to hear the intonations and accent.

For A Friend. I’m using the app to help translate for a friend who is from Guatemala for his eye doctor appointment. So far it’s been working wonders! I also use it all the time for translating random things into languages I didn’t even know! I asked a friend who is from Kyrgyzstan, who speaks Russian, if something I used from this app is translated correctly. They said that the translation was perfect and then they proceeded to read what I said back to me in English to prove it! Thank you!

Great way to get around France. My daughter is an exchange student in France. She has no background speaking French so this tool is a must to get around. The French have a reputation of not liking Americans. What my daughter has found is if you try to speak the language, the people are more tolerant.

A dictionary in my back pocket. I love the instant feedback! No flipping pages or relying on rusty high school Spanish skills. Being able to communicate in the language of the country you are traveling makes it easier for people to help you and a more authentic experience for you.

I was able to communicate 😊. I was able to thank and communicate with the hotel hospitality staff while in Mexico. Their work ethic was noticed and I wanted to thank her beyond financial. I wanted her to hear how much I noticed her excellent service she offered. This app made it possible to verbally show gratitude.

Jim S.. Just started using Google Translate. I’m a chef and it is helping me mentor a younger chef turn his food truck into a brick-and-mortar restaurant. Wish I used it on my last trip to Mexico City. I would not have had to type, every time, “Translate X into English/Spanish”.

Using in China. Would be lost without it in Beijing. A lot less English spoken than I thought and I’ve had no trouble communicating using the app. Only slightly frustrating thing is that in a moving vehicle, it’s hard to keep your finger on the talk button. Other than that - awesome!

Very useful. All languages that am looking for I get them over here even my local language that am not good in’s peeking am able to work on it

I should have had this years ago!. I am using the app communicating with my Mexican gardener, and it has helped us avoid mid-communication. I find I’m picking up some frequently used phrases. The only problem I’m having is when he mis-spells a word in Spanish. Such a great communication tool, and so easy to use. We also have Hispanic legal clients. Thank you for the great help this is to us.

This app is great. You can copy and paste what someone said then it will automatically find the language then you type in your response and right there. You can communicate with any language.

Better then Google. As a native speaker of German and not English, this app is by far the most accurate with what I need to figure out. I can’t spell a word? I say it and they translate it. Perfect. For anyone learning or translating ANY language, this app is highly recommended. The app seems lag like but it’s because they’re translating ever word to the most they can. Confused. I searched on safari for an app that can translate text from photos. I found this app and tried it out. I saw un skippable ad that said I need PrEmIuM in order to use the camera right, so I tried just typing it. When I typed “BopoH” the app just said that it translates to Bopoh, so now I’m mad because this won’t let me use the camera, and it’s so fumb, it doesn’t even translate. Now I’m never getting this app again. All I wanted to do was translate some Russian on a poster of a game that I like.

Good app. I can only speak for the text translation so far but. The few languages I have tried seemed to come across accurately. Will continue to use as needed and try the other features later

Very Good. This app works better than Google Translate, which made my phone slow down and I had to delete it. I’m glad for this app, which has helped when I try to write to relatives in Scandinavia, in their language. The only change I would make is to somehow make it possible to insert paragraphs/spaces, where appropriate. Otherwise, excellent app! According to my cousins in Sweden, this app translates well, better than other apps I’ve found!

Understanding one another. I had laminate floors put in my home by two lovely men one from Argentina and the other Puerto Rico. They showed me the translator app and we enjoyed texts with laughs and viral information with no trouble at all. I’m grateful for the app and the gentlemen who introduced me to it!

Doesn’t recognise Japanese Kanji. Took several pictures of some anime loot I have laying around. Came up with no results. Oh well, I got what I paid for. I uninstalled it straight away.

You know there’s a problem when people are reviewing this as a game. This is completely inaccurate for a little more than only single words, if you’re trying to make out a sentence of more than 3 words good luck

DOES NOT WORK. Tried the voice translation. It was wrong and difficult to edit errors made by app. Tried photo translate - broke the page into incoherent chunks of unassembled incomplete sentences. Tried to view “plans” from menu to see if I’m paying for this junk and it glitched to bottom of page without rendering the requested menu information. I’m surprised this app made it to the app store.

Beware of sneaky subscriptions. I used this app ONCE on ONE paragraph and then proceeded to delete the app. Afterwards, without my knowledge, for 2 months (although I’m sure it’s in the fine print) a WEEKLY ongoing charge of $12 was being billed on my credit card. I am disappointed in myself for not noticing this earlier and not doing more thorough research and in the company for not being more transparent of an ongoing fee. When the app is being deleted, a warning message of a “active subscription” should also be mentioned. Very disappointed. I do not recommend this purchase. Please beware.

Automatic charge. Use this app once, wasn’t aware that they would charge $12.00/week after a certain amount of time. I wish this was disclosed a little bit more transparently or in a larger print. I don’t know how I missed this but it seems like I’m not the only one from the other reviews.

Photo scan isn’t very good. The free version only lets you do 2 free scans a day, which is fine. But I scanned a menu and thinking it would put the items in the same position as they are in the menu, but it just gives a giant list of translations. Fine, not a big deal, so I start scrolling and halfway through, the translations have a loading spinner that isn’t spinning. So the app doesn’t feel very polished at all. It also required an Apple sign in account for no reason, which is pretty suspicious.

Can’t use it without signing in. I don’t want to sync anything, why would you force me to only use this app if I sign in using my Apple ID? Useless app

Love it!. Really helpful at Gare du Nord where the gentleman issuing train tickets had no idea what I could possibly be asking for. Might still be there if not for the savvy traveler in line behind me and this handy app.

HOW DO I CANCEL. I signed up for the free trial week, thinking if it was good, I would pay the money to keep it. It kept freezing. If I tried to use it more than 3 or 4 times at a time, it quit. This was frustrating when I was trying to communicate with a 7 yr old in my classroom that speaks no English. I THOUGHT I cancelled it but I have been charged 2 times for it for about $17. Now what?

Communicate with friends all over the world. Using this app, one can tsp in a sentence in English and have a fairly accurate translation in seconds. Used it for German, Spanish, and Chinese!

German exchange student. We just received our German exchange student for the year. Although her English is good, my German is bad. This app allows us to make her feel at home. And helps me with my German.

Google translate. I am really excited about google translate I purchased a cottage in a Spanish speaking country where Spanish and French are primary languages and I have German neighbors so google translate is my best new friend!!!

$7.99 weekly NOT FREE. It’s says “free” but as soon as it downloads the very first pop-up says $7.99 a week after seven day trial. But there is no way to cancel this. I’ve contacted Apple, I’ve tried to contact arcadian many many many times, but there is no way to cancel this. This is going to be an enormous financial burden that I’m not going to be able to endure.

Instantly helpful. I love being able to talk with my friend from Brazil in her native tongue. This app is super helpful for that. I’m only giving 4 stars as I would love access to the microphone and camera without having to pay.

It took my money!. I am thirteen and was using this app to communicate with my family. I couldn’t figure out how to use it so I cancelled my subscription as I was using the free trial. I deleted the app and went on about my day. All the sudden I see this app took ten dollars from my bank account unexpectedly. I didn’t get notification or any warning it was going to take it out. This app is the worst.

So many options on translation. Great and easy to use. So many different ways to use and get what you need translated.

RN vacationing in San Jose Del Cabo. On vacation in SJDC my husband had an accident and had emergency surgery. This translation app allowed me to have piece of mind in a country where I only understood a handful of vocabulary words.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I used to us this app all the time but now you have to pay for it all I can’t even do word translations with out having to pay $9.99 a WEEK. To me that is outrageous I would understand $9.99 a month but just for one week??? This is one of the better translations apps but the pricing needs to be fix and the word translations should be free.

They silently charge you every week!. Do not get this app. I got it to use it once and then never opened it again. Since that time, they have been charging me $7.99 a week (not month, per week!) Seemingly without my authorization and when I open the app there isn’t even a clear way of cancelling the subscription. Stay clear of them

Healthcare. I use this in the healthcare setting and I can see it means a lot to my patients who don’t speak English. Highly recommend it!

Never got prompted I had to pay 8$!!!. Seriously ridiculous, I’ve never had this happen to me. I was prompted that the app was free...which is was for a week then started billing me 8.00$ and change(for tax) PER WEEK and I had no idea until I checked my bank account. I literally used it once the day I downloaded it. DONT DOWNLOAD THIS. Unless you want to pay 8$ a week for something Google Translate does for free. Wow. Ridiculous!!

So far so good. I am leaving for Spain and Portugal and want a way to communicate and so far this seems like a great app I will update when I’ve used it more.

Great Application. I have an acquaintance in Turkey and we talk as often as possible. This is a great app. I however don’t want to get charged right now. How do I cancel the application for the time being? Thanks again for the app!

Fake Reviews. GET ANOTHER APP. The free version of this app provides ONLY one translation when you open it. 1 time in 10 it does nothing but stare back at you wondering why don’t already speak the foreign language! Worst is it doesn’t update when you enter new text or change language. It’s just enough to be maddening. So for conversations or emergencies FORGET IT.

Just opened the app 2 minutes ago.. So far so good but I need more time. They get a 3 based on I haven’t used longer than 2 minutes. I hope I can come back and change it to a 5 star app.
