Love The App!!. Let's see here, uh yeah Totally love the app it's super cute and fun! I like the pictures and art style!! But I don't suggest this for people who know barely anything. I like that you can go back and redo lessons! But I feel like some of the words in the Kotoba Challenge are miss spelled, I'm a beginner and it's either they're spelled wrong or I'm just understanding wrong. Overall I support this app and look forward to learning cool stuff from it!

Amazing!. In 30 Minutes i learned most hiragana characters and at least 30 words! I highly recommend both apps if you have common knowledge of Japanese characters ありがとう!

Amazing for beginners. The game is entertaining, incentivizes trying again on kotoba challenges and rows and it lets you dip your toes in for people just starting

Favorite Language App. This app is amazing and free! It gives you an amazing resource to learn Hiroshima and words. I love how you can go back and complete lessons as many times as you want, while not having to worry about health! 10/10 recommend

i love it!. i've been learning Japanese in school, and learned hiragana last year, but it’s still important to keep practicing it, and duolingo just wasn’t helping much. this app helps me practice the characters, and learn new words like wind, bag, body things like that, which i don’t learn other wise. plus the designs are so cute! even once i finish the lessons i will definitely keep using them to practice :) i also want to check out the katakana one, it looks amazing!

good app for non beginners!. i was practicing Japanese in quarantine, but i lost most of it once school started again. i just got this app and the lessons are great for re-learning hirigana! I wouldn’t recommend it for a very beginner though, as the lessons arent too detailed.

Amazing!. I was having trouble on some of the characters but every app I tried just wasn’t helping. I finally found this and got it, it helped me so much! It actually effected my learning and helped me a lot! It allows you to study the words in a way that helps you memorize them. Even if you are still struggling you can take the lesson again. I like to repeat doing lessons over and over, it just helps me memorize the characters better.

I LOVE IT!. i have not been using hiragana sensei for too long, but i can say that it is a great, efficient and kawaii way of learning or remembering your hiragana! it has helped me a lot and i look forward to using it more in the future! hiragana sensei has a lot too offer: example sentences in hiragana, quizes, colors, food, and much much more! i would definitely recommend this app to anyone looking to learn hiragana. 🤩

Great app!. This app has helped me learn Hiragana in a fun way! The pictures are cute, and this is great for beginners or learners that just want to review the Hiragana! There is one problem though. In Kotoba,for things that are pronounced wa Japanese, it marks correct for ha. Overall this is a great app to learn the basics of Japanese!

Very Helpful!. I use this app, as well as Katakana Sensei and the developer’s JLRPG App to study and it has helped me retain a lot of words. One of my favorites has to be the repetition exercises because it the easiest way to study for me.

Cute app!! (Some flaws). The little animals are so cute and they are really helpful to learn the characters/hiragana with! The only problem was in the kotoba challenge where you had to spell it out (ありがとう=arigatou)… it was “こんいちは” and “こんばんは”. They are both pronounced with “wa” at the end, but in the lesson it said it was wrong when I wrote “konnichiwa”. I think that it’s great to have “ha” because the character IS ha, but I think “wa” should be counted as correct because that’s how a native would write it. Overall great app!

So good!. This app is so underrated! It's my favorite app for hiragana. It has a super cute and easy to understand layout and you get good review and practice. I was originally learning hiragana on a different app but once I switched to this one I learned it much faster. It's really fun to use and overall a great app! Highly recommend as a necessity for learning hiragana!

Great App for people who have some knowledge of Hiragana!. Prior to using this app I was studying some of the hiragana alphabet, and this app enhanced that. This is a really cutesy app good for learning the characters and their sounds. Along with some basic words written with these characters. I totally recommend this app for anybody!

Great app just no sound on my iPad with it. It’s a great little app and it’s very simple to use. Only problem is it tells me turn up the volume and I have my volume all the way up and I still can’t hear nothing.

Great!!. The app is really good! The animals are adorable and it is very easy to understand! My daughter got it right away. There is one problem though; when she got to the Kotoba Challenge she couldn’t press the submit button. Other than that, it is a great app and again very cute!

I like it but. I gave it 4 stars because it’s free and fun but there are not lessons so it’s like impossible cause you can’t memorize it it’s hard to learn. A new language

VERY CUTE ANIMALLS 💀💀🪦. Had a very good time practicing my hiragana with this app. I do have a couple of complaints. 1. If the word on the board is too long, it will run off the board making the text hard to read. Fix: re-size the text or board 2. You have to write in romangi (English characters). I think it would be really cool if the game had a mode where you translate romangi to hiragana. 3. If you get something wrong the penguin character just says you got it wrong. People who are newer to hiragana will struggle more if they don't know whats wrong with the text they wrote. Fix: a simple graphic that indicates where the player messed up This app is a great supplement to learning hiragana. It has a cute penguin.

More of a test app. The testing is pretty great. The learning part is just a big chart of characters you look at and try to memorize, which imho is not ever effective. Also, there’s a glitch where after you pass a test and get stars and are sent back to the test overview area it still shows 0 stars. Once you change tabs you it refreshes. I hope this can be fixed.

Better suited to hiragana review as is. Three stars because it’s good and functional and cute; it’s just really only helpful to use if you’re reviewing and not learning for the first time. I think that it’s a very cute app and it’s helpful for review and practice — I’ve mostly been using the Katakana application to review and found it amazing and very helpful overall, but the hiragana application I come to not already knowing the characters and found my experience much worse off. I think it would be a lot better if the sounds of the characters played before you selected your choice — your guess.

Great!. This app is great for learning Hiragana! It also teaches you a little bit of basic vocabulary, and teaches you how to read dakutens and handakutens (or diacritic modifiers) as well as glides. I think that this app is amazing for beginners wanting to learn Japanese.

Amazing!!. This app works wonders, it really helped me memorize all of Hiragana, diacritic modifiers, and Glides. I took 4 pages worth of notes and looking back at them whenever I took the lessons REALLY helped me. I’m surprised this app is free and more people should know about it. Gonna download the Katana version now, if they had a Kanji I would’ve downloaded that one too!!

This has helped me a lot!. This is one of my favorite hiragana learning apps teaching me all the letters easily but one thing is that sometimes it shows different letters than what it teaches me for example it says “みよ” but it instead teaches me ひよ　I hope they fix this soon it’s been confusing but overall AMAZING APP it’s SO CUTEE the motivation the characters give me is incredible

The app is great!. I wanted to re-learn Hiragana and this was the best app I found, the issue of having kotoba (vocabulary) for practicing the Hiragana is perfect! I think you may add the way of drawing the hiraganas for people learning for the first time. Anyway, I love the app and I highly recommend it!

Loved the App. I’ve tried every app I could find for learning Hiragana. This is the first app that really clicked for me. It breaks down the hiragana into manageable chunks so it’s not overwhelming and does a great job of testing you along the way.

Really quite bad. So I am a fan of the Japanese culture and want to learn hiragana to start but this has not really helped so far. It doesn’t give you answers and gives you a 1 star when you’re trying your best. It’s really more of a flash cards game then an actual learning tool. I don’t recommend this for beginners.

Repetition is key. I have been using a bunch of apps and this one really works for me. It’s splits up the characters into two sets then quizzes you on the set you learned using words that are simple yet useful. I look forward to learning katakana with their other app. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to learn hiragana.

Extremely Satisfied. I am not disappointed with this app. It does not take long to do the lessons and you can redo them as much as you like. This app has helped me SO MUCH! I am 100% downloading this creators Katakana Sensei App as well.

Love it!!!!. I got this app because I wanted to learn Hiragana, and I loved it! It gives you a Hiragana chart, and then it gives you lessons! The only thing is that it’s better to use after you know all the characters, because it gives you a character and it asks you what sound it makes. But overall a great app to learn Hiragana with! And it’s sooooo cute!

Great for practice. This app is great if you already know some hiragana, if you don’t it might be challenging. When I got this app I was already using Duolingo so I know the basics. If you are inexperienced with hiragana I suggest you at least lean the basic stumbles and pronunciation. Other than that this app is great for practice.👍

Great for Reading + Review. I used this app to review a lot, and in tandem with other apps it really helped me out with memorizing/quickly being able to recognize characters! The Kotoba challenges were also really useful to me. Highly recommend it for anyone trying to teach themselves Hiragana :)

The fastest way to learn Japanese.. I downloaded many games to learn Japanese and this is the only app that helped me learn Japanese. Works very will try it for yourself very accurate and useful. (The art is very good and cute) ❦

Great!. Whenever I’m bored or need something to do, i can always go into this app and practice. It spares me from boredom and I also feel accomplished for starting to learn a new language. I think you could feel the same too if you downloaded this app. (I just noticed how this sounds like I’m a bot lol) Anyways, it’s easy to get a hang of the words and stuff like that. Overall, I think it gets a 10/10.

Simple yet effective. It’s straightforward and easy to follow. One thing though, when I get to the kotoba challenges, it never counts any of my answers which makes the questions keep going on forever so I don’t get the stars.

Amazing Learning and Review Tool. I never write reviews but I feel I sorta have to with this app. It’s super helpful for me getting back into learning japanese as a review tool and I’m learning a lot of new words I should know with the Kotoba after going through all the hiragana lessons. It’s also extremely cute which helps.

Just what I needed. As a student learning Japanese I can say this is what I needed. It’s cute, simple, and easy to understand! This is a really good underrated app

This is great!!!. The lessons are really great! And if you don’t know the hiragana character there is a full chart for you to study on in the app. I find it very helpful to the point where I made flash cards of each character in the chart. I use the cards when I’m not busy (which is quite often due to the quarantine) and once I’ve had enough of the cards I test myself with the challenges. Thank you for this! I look forward to also using “Katakana Sensei” and using the same method.

Cute but without sound. This app is cute and seems very helpful but as someone who is just starting to learn with no sound to correlate to the characters it is difficult to use as a learning material. The app says there is sound but there is none.

Good, however…. I really like this app it has been instrumental in me making great progress in learning hirigana. I have only one complaint in that it has a tendency to crash quite frequently.

No sounds. I don't know if I'm just doing it wrong but I can't get the sounds to work for me and overal the app becomes useless. It's such a same that a kawaii app like this exists but I have no use. I would really like to use the app but I can't get the sound to work.

I use this app to learn the basics of hiragana and katakana, flashcards.io to study the basics in random order to memorize them, and another to properly make a sentence. Effective, but crashes a LOT. It's a good simple method to learning Hiragana, but the app consistently crashes. Maybe it's just me, but if the app doesn't crash for you it works great!
