Hmmmmm. I can get it to gauge at all. It measures all media as balanced.
Like a Calorie Tracker for Your News Diet. We’re all biased - this app helps see how. Test your ability to read something you disagree with without melting. Do it over and over again. Become the fearless interlocutor you were meant to be. It all starts with keeping track of where you get your information, and then adding some diversity for intellectual strength and vigor. Escape the echo chambers. Cheers!
Fix the WSJ bug. Or your app is useless.
Was great until the WSJ link stopped working. ... been 5 months now so time to delete.
WSJ is not free.. And it nags you daily to buy the $20 paid version. Once you buy, it's the same as the free one ... without the nagging.
Option to Remove Ads?. Love the app, I use it everyday and have finally decided to write a review after using it for a year. Some of the bad reviews are from users not understanding the purpose of the app. Yes, this app will tell you to “get out of your bubble” even if all you read are center aisle publications. Imagine a world where the perfect news provider exists; reputable, unbiased, and holds no political agenda. This mythical newspaper would be balanced perfectly center in the app. The point here isn’t to stay perfectly center by only reading the perfect news... The app’s purpose is to see radically opposing views from either side of the aisle. It’s actually fun to see how the exact same event can result in completely opposite views. Every newspaper in the app, regardless of whether or not the app properly positions it on the political spectrum, and whether or not the paper itself provides accurate information, is read by tens of thousands or more people. The point is to read what other masses of other people are reading. The hope is that by knowing your neighbor’s informational diet you can start having more productive and useful discussion and debate.
Scam. After some time a crazy non closable pop up keeps nagging you, till you are extremely likely to click the purchase button by “mistake”, as it is not clearly identified as a purchase button and pay $21.64.... lol insane. We are obviously getting refunded...wow, never seen such a sneaky thing in years... refreshing in a way...
Fix the WSJ Link please!. It worked great until the default syntax error appears when trying to log in to the WSJ. Someone from Read Across told me it was something the WSJ had to fix; its been over 4 months now. Kind of a bummer
Great concept. I REALLY like the concept of having a diverse selection of news sources to read from. This is going to be a well-known app that many people will enjoy. I do have some suggestions; 1.) Whenever I leave an article it doesn’t save my spot where I was reading, I have to go through and search for the article again. This task becomes very tedious. 2.) I would also like a more clear indication of what “side” I am reading on. Thus, allowing me to set goals like “Read two Articles on the Liberal side today and two articles on the conservative side.” 3.) Creating a profile of all my save reads would be tremendous, I know the coding for that can be tricky, but I would love that and I am sure others users would as well. 4.) *Friends* Allow me to have friends, so I can see what they are reading as well as be able to send articles there way. I look forward to seeing this adjustments!
Good concept, support is missing. Shared a bug with support twice over several months, no response, bug is still there. Bug has disabled WSJ access. If it’s a rights thing, say so, and remove from app.
Great idea w buggy implementation. Items like WSJ are not accessible owing to bug.
Disappointed. I had a pop up to remind me to get out of my bubble and read about other views. I was just reading a the New York Times. I didn’t think I was in a bubble. It’s super creepy, if it happens again I’ll delete app.
Still not working.... The WSJ link is still broken. I had hoped this was just a temporary thing, but apparently it’s been an ongoing issue for 4+ months. That was one of the primary reasons I gave this app a try. So it’s of no use tome without that feature. Also, as a note, there is something creepy about asking for an email address then having things not work. It could make users wonder if you’re just trying to mine their email addresses. It gives a really bad impression.
Bogus app. It doesn’t work as intended. Tried The Economist and WSJ on not he Chrome and iPhone and didn’t manage to open a single article.
Love it!. Such a great app! Love the wsj free trial for a cheap college student like me!
WSJ not supported anymore. WSJ reading appears to no longer work or be supported.
Lock and reminder is annoying. I like the idea and layout of this app, but the execution is a bit annoying. I am making an attempt to read across the aisle by using this app to just read "red" articles. However, the (free) app thinks I should be alternating sides and reading from "blue" articles just as much as "red" ones and locks the app when I don't alternate enough. I have easy access to nytimes and huffpo, I don't need to read these on your app.
Great idea, poor execution. I downloaded this app in hopes of keeping my political readings in check. Layout is decent, I enjoy the gradients. My big beef though is that this app is slow, lags and locks up frequently, and heats up my phone. Strange, for an app that is seemingly just displaying text. Memory leaks? Heavy background tasks? Get it fixed! I'm enjoying he app but it's practically unusable.
