Great!. Pro tip: make sure you have “precise location“ turned on or the widget won’t work properly. Otherwise great!

Handy weather info. It's really nice to be able to cycle through the "confidence level" of the rain predictions. Most times I just want to know what's likely to happen, but sometimes when you make plans you need to know if there's any chance at all of rain.

Fix orientation bug.. Great app, but it needs an update to read the orientation of the device and not just assume a constant orientation. I use my iPad in an inverted orientation so I can have the charger cable at the top of the screen not digging into my stomach. This simple fix would make this app a 5 star app.

App always crash 😠. Although it’s a great app showing weather of different locations in Australia, the app crashes at least several times daily on my iPad Pro, please fix this bug ASAP 😤

Header. Weather

Great app and it’s about time😉. Great app. Very easy to use. Very similar to the AccuWeather app but this relates to Australia.

forced update. Don't force me to update

Bom weather app. Great app for weather forecasts especially even where

Basic. Provides fundamental weather info but without all that much detail. In particular, it doesn’t really give much info about humidity and dew point, so it’s not a great guide to how uncomfortable it feels in Brisbane.

Tracking for Severe Thunderstorms. Flash floods can be a big problem in the Australia’s Northern Territory and Uluru gets the spectacular lightning storms and same does in Alice Springs and be safe to watch at the Ayers Rock Resort village in Yulara and so many trees are attracted to lightning strikes. And do not swim or boating in the water in places of Australia when the water conducts electricity when lightning strikes. Lightning is one of the most powerful forces of nature. I love watching lightning storms.

Please fix the radar. My complaint is mainly about the rain radar. I think the developers need to compare the app radar display side-by-side with the website radar. For example, use the Melbourne radar and compare the area to the SE of the city over some time. Even taking account of the (pointless) difference in time scales, there are frequently major inconsistencies between the two displays. Only the website radar is accurate. The app radar is useless. I won’t add to the debate about the new appearance, although I agree with many reviewers that it’s not an improvement overall and has added needless complexity. The main problem is with the radar and it needs to be fixed!

Notifications issue. This is a pretty good app overall, but lately I’ve been getting notifications for watches/warnings that don’t actually exist when I go into the app to check them. I’m also getting multiple notifications for the same warning - during the recent heatwave, for example, I received at least six to eight notifications each time it was updated! I’ve spoken to others who’ve had the same issues. Please fix this. Thank you.

A bit weird now. Data labels come after the bits of data they label - a generally odd decision that leads to awkward language problems. Percentage predictions do not make semantic sense or mathematically reconcile with each other when there are no rain levels with particular percentage predictions for that day. Some features are non-intuitively hidden, such as the changeable hour by hour percentage probabilities for rain predictions. The colour palette for the terrain on the radar map seems to be from the paint tins that don’t sell well in a shop, like they’ve all been mixed with a bit of dark muddy green. The past-future slider is an irritation if all you want is the radar picture for right now. In general it feels like the development of this app has been taken over by somebody who doesn’t really know what they are doing.

New update is poor limited information. Loved this app before the recent update and now information is hidden. I can not see the weather forecast over the next days without clicking on a button on every single day. Also it now shows limited information it’s not worth looking I have to look at weatherzone app instead for future weather. Precipitation it used to show rain since 9am now it doesn’t. Shame they have made a fabulous app into a poor one. We all know that the weather forecast can change but no weather forecast is not useful.

Fantastic but the 100% chance of no rain gets confusing. Fantastic app, very helpful, but wish they would change back to 0% chance of rain instead of saying “100 % chance of no rain” because sometimes it looks like it’s saying it’s going to rain none stop so it gets confusing and makes you have to look twice. Otherwise it’s fantastic and very helpful. A lot better than that Apple weather app that’s based in LA and reckons it’s sunny during a storm or whatever lol Highly recommend and my daughter and niece as well as other family members got this app too because I love it so much, they call it “The BOM” lol

Great value for money :). I’m happy with all the increased functionality in this app in recent years - it is much improved since the early days. Since the BoM gather/measure data as well I’d value a time trace that depicts that data history for my location, and a simple widget with temp now/max predicted for today would be something I would use on my Home Screen. But overall those are minor concerns. Thanks for making this app available.

This app is the best!. It gives accurate and detailed information about the weather and it is almost always correct. Recently it has gotten better with the addition of a “Past” page which gives information about the recent weather. You can select any location anywhere in Australia and change it easily. It will give you notifications about severe weather alerts and things like that which you need to know. Another thing that I liked was the rain radar going forward in time as well as backward. Note to the developers: can you also add the ability to have the traditional rain percentage as well as the “75% chance of less than 1 mm, 50% chance of 3mm, 25% chance 4mm” thing?

Best weather app for outdoor workers. I’ve been using the BOM app for a while but the improvements over the past few months have made a huge difference. It used to be really awkward to use and I ended up trying another app (not very good either). I have teams of gardeners going out to various locations and I have come to depend on this app to help prepare for inclement weather. The hour by hour information is updated regularly and I love how you can click on the radar to view it, check where the rain is and quickly minimise it. Easy to scroll across to see how the day is predicted to pan out for your area and the ’feels like’ temperature is also helpful. Of course as accurate as they can be - mostly right. It’s intuitive, informative and quick and easy to use.

Is same crappy web developer everywhere ?. Well, another great app overhauled and ruined. Same happened at Commonwealth Bank and Telstra. At least CBA listened and rolled back some changes but Telstra didn’t and I can no longer use their app. Bom was fine but now it’s clunky, all boring text on white that looks like someone’s homework project and has lost some functionality. We don’t want to read huge amounts of text in an app. When will you people get this ?

It has become gimmicky. Clearly BOM don’t read these reviews. The app used to just do forecasts, and at a glance you could see what they were forecasting. First they “smoothed” the radar to make the data rainbow and blobby. Then they introduced quartile chance of rain, but don’t show that in the table of upcoming-days predictions, just vague words like “some showers”, when they really could just provide the probability quartiles. And now, they’ve introduced “predicted radar”… so you get a couple of seconds of actual radar, followed by the same amount of predicted radar, which seems to always be wrong. There is no option to NOT show predicted radar. There is no option to change the length of historical radar to show, nor the speed at which to show it. The development of this app is like it’s being driven by a teenage programmer who wants to show lots of bling, but ignores substance and the prime use of the app. Fair enough if it was some commercial piece of junk, but this is a government agency app, and they are pandering to irrelevant bling to make it “fancy”, and it is very quickly losing relevance and utility.

Laughably misleading.. The forecast right now is a little icon of grey cloud with rain falling from it. It’s the same icon for every hour for the next thirty six hours. Outside the sky is clear ... lots of stars and no clouds. The fact is that despite they grey clouds and rainy icons the actual forecast tells me the chance of rain is between 20% and 30% and the expected amount between 0 and 1 mm. Please, at least make some attempt at matching the icons with the forecast. As it stands the icons make it look like we’re in for a biblical flood but the forecast suggests there’s an 80% chance that it won’t rain at all!

Accessibility with VoiceOver. As a blind voice-over user, I found the old app reasonably accessible and really only want to check temperatures, humidity, wind, rain and basic forecast information. The new app seems to be as accessible as previously and I do like having hourly forecasts. However, the initial screens for setting up are totally inaccessible and I had to turn VoiceOver off and get my wife to click continue and access the choose location dialogue before I could gain any sort of access. Also, there must be some sort of Alt-tag or something that voiceOver detects when checking the hourly forecasts(Which is not visible on the screen). For instance, from 7 pm this evening, every hour is mostly sunny all through the night and tomorrow. 6 pm and earlier had a 20% or greater chance of rain whereas it is 5% or less from 7pm. In this day and age, I think all blind technology users would hope and expect developers to be on top of accessibility issues and test new releases with screen readers etc. I hope these matters can soon be addressed. With thanks - Tom

MrsFanofweatherp. This used to be a great app. But now there’s glitches galore. More than half the time the temperature and rain ect is greyed out. And I’m updated with the app. Also I’m updated with the latest iOS on my tablet. So the problem isn’t at my end it’s with your end at the BOM. If you lot would stop worrying about what name you’re called by, whether it’s the bureau or BOM and concentrated on what’s Really important, that’s the Weather and delivering that information, maybe the app would work the way it’s supposed to. The Elders weather app is far more reliable than the BOM’s app of late. Fix this problem ASAP. Then I might be able to give you more than two stars…🤔

Bug when switching between saved locations. Great App but there is a bug when changing saved locations. When the location is changed (from for example Sydney) to another location ( say Canberra) and after viewing the weather in that location changed back to the first location (Sydney in this example) after the App is fully closed by swiping up, when the App is relaunched it opens in the alternate location ( Canberra) not the location the App was set in when closed (Sydney). One has to select Sydney again and now when the App is closed and reopened it correctly opens showing Sydney weather.

Latest update not an improvement. I used to love this app but the latest update is definitely not an improvement. It was simple and clear when it told you what the chance was of it raining or not. The new added option of choosing three different percentages of different amounts of rain is just confusing. It means if you’ve accidentally clicked on a high measure of rain with a low percentage you can look at the results and believe that it’s not going to rain at all, when in fact it is. We didn’t need this option, it has not made it clearer, quite the reverse. I really hope you see the error of your ways and change it back to how it was.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Unless there is a secret plan by BOM for something spectacular, then that would have been the time to update the app. I mean the colours are nice, I like the warnings are there when opening the app. However the main reason I look at the app is: 1. Current weather observations- in one glance I want to know the current Temp, feels like temp, wind speed, rainfall total. 2. The 7 day forecast at a glance, this is useful for future planning. It is not easily visible, you need to scroll down and then individually open each day to read the forecast, not scroll through bit a time to bring back windows 95 functions! 3. Hourly forecast - very neutral about this, goes too far in the future, maybe 12 hours is sufficient and can be under the 7 day forecast would be my preference The previous version had a lot of information in one glance, this new version is now lost and hope you lot can redesign for a better read and layout

BOM. This app could go to the next level and provide information that is linked to health For example on a hot day it could use a 600 ml water bottle icon to indicate how much water a person should drink plus what hours a person should not do heavy physical exercise outside It could also display a symbol that warns people not to leave a child or pet in the car Weather is directly linked to health and BOM has an opportunity to step up and provide this information Please note that BOM already tells farmers whether or not to take positive action to avoid stock loss Likewise it does the same for sailors. So why not provide the public with general information so that they may plan their daily activities. It can be argued that we learn how to enjoy the weather. however why not provide information that makes your site the preferred information source to plan a person’s day.

The BOM is an important part of our lives.. I rely so much on the BOM App to provide information on everyday things, such as planning the washing, the clothes I wear, need for umbrella/raincoats, outdoor exercise, planning ahead for holidays, preparation for storms and information/warnings for wind (sailing). I use the App several times a day and I think it’s wonderful, life changing in fact, no longer having to guess what the ever changing weather is going to bring. The BOM is just part of our daily lives now, and we love it ❤️

Excellent information, more difficult to read. After the Bom app upgraded and was no longer available for my phone I tried a lot of others. None were as accurate or easy to use so I upgraded my phone. Positives on new version: radar is great! Negatives: less easy to grasp information at one go. More contrast in colours needed; swipe left for forward temp brings up side bar constantly; too much vertical space between wind, rain etc. Information was much easier to grasp when it was in one box! Still the best though. Keep up the great work Bom!

Ok app. Rain radar needs an upgrade. I have used the bom app daily for years and have found various updates to be a bit hit and miss. It's ok at the moment. But I think an upgrade for the rain radar is very much overdue. I'm not sure if it's a data storage issue but the rain radar only has a refresh rate of once every ten minutes. That's what it's been for as long as I can remember. Storms move a lot faster than that though and I'm regularly frustrated when trying to predict the movement of a storm or rain front but am relying on patchy data that's at least 10 minutes old. Could we at least double it to once every 5 minutes? Once a minute would be much better though. Perfection would be a live stream from the radar tower but I would assume that's fanciful. But please, I think it's time to upgrade the radar refresh rate

EVEN Worse than it ever was!. The latest update (Jun 2023) seems to have removed the 10% level from hourly rainfall forecasts. Which makes it — amazingly — even MORE useless than my earlier review (see below). If you live somewhere that usually gets only light rain, you will almost never see anything other than “0 mm” in the hourly rain forecasts. So it is essentially impossible to tell when those light showers — the ones that mean you can’t paint outside, or need to get the washing in, or might skid the car on roads made greasy by a previous dry spell — are going to happen. All of this while the required forecast grids are being created (and made available through other apps: thanks, WillyWeather). It’s hard not to think that the Bureau has more or less given up on trying to be relevant. Extraordinary. And not in a good way. — earlier review — I know that making probability of precipitation forecasts easy to understand is hard. But this presentation is simply useless (as so many of the recent reviews attest). As far as I can tell, forecast quantities less than 1 mm are shown as zero. Which is bonkers: even 0.4 mm in a single shower is enough to make things wet (and in the case of roads, possibly dangerous). If only it still showed the “chance of any rain” forecast. Amazing to think that it has taken so long get around to changing the app, only to make it so much worse.

Getting better. Like the app especially the level of detail with hourly information though still prefer the simplicity of the old one especially looking at 7 day forecast- I can’t find it in this app though it is supposed to be a feature Update - Thanks to the feedback I had been looking under the water and tides tab - found it now under weather. Time exploring this app now it has much more detailed info, rain radar info time info is great and it loads much faster - great update now I know how to use it

Location keep flickering. Hi, I am using the app on IOS. Ever since I have been using this app since a few months ago, I find the location keeps flickering when I move location. Example when I leave home and go somewhere else, the location will keep rapidly alternating between the old location and the new location. The only way to resolve is to restart the app and it is fine after that until I move again. Quite annoying, otherwise the app is reasonably fine. It’s probably not the best UI I have seen but works. Please fix the flickering location. Btw my location permission for the app is set to ‘while using’. I have the latest version of the app and my iOS is 13.6. Thanks very much.

A decent upgrade. The previous design was always clunky but functional. It was never outstanding and felt cheap, but at least it worked. However, the latest update improves upon the design drastically. It feels fresh and modern, and is way more presentable. A couple small tweaks would help improve the UX, such as repositioning the rain radar button at the bottom. It’s in a very awkward position and feels like it doesn’t belong there. Also, scrolling comes to a complete halt when scrolled to the top. That feels out-of-place on iOS and feels cheap. Overall, a very welcome update.

Wildly inaccurate. ETA: ohh I know what’s wrong, you have some suburbs reading off the kunanyi/Mt Wellington station. I feel like I shouldn’t have to tell a meteorologist that mountain weather is very different, even if it’s 12km away as the crow flies. Other nearby suburbs are more realistic so I’ve give some stars back, but it still leaves me struggling to trust readings for areas that I don’t know as well. I’m not sure what’s happened with this update but the temperature readings for my area are wildly inaccurate, in the order of a half dozen degrees colder than any other app (or my carefully calibrated feel-o-meter) would say the temperature was in my area. For instance right now other apps are telling me it’s around seven degrees, the BOM app is telling me -0.8 degrees. Can confirm no ice or frost yet developing on the dew on the car to indicate a sub zero temp and I wouldn’t say it would be under 5 degrees.

Radar hopeless. It’s been a while now since you swapped radars and I’ve been hoping for improvement; but not to be. It’s not the same as the one on the web, and the previous one was better. This one shows very little detail. For example it was cloudy and drizzly at our place for half the day yesterday but this app showed it as clear. Do better. Also the explanations seem to be for the state, not localised, which isn’t very helpful. Hence the rain forecast is quite bizarre; like a chance of rain in the west but probably not elsewhere… I know weather is hard but I don’t think all BOM resources are being used for this app.

Huge improvement. The latest version (downloaded today, 24th June) is a huge step forward and a vast improvement on the previous version - much cleaner and clearer interface. As a previous reviewer commented, the addition of Notifications (with customisation) would be a highly desirable addition - for example warning of hail risk, especially if could be linked to a day’s proposed trips and areas to be visited. Also, as mentioned, radar button is a little odd although perfectly functional. All in all app has become a much more rounded offering, well worth using and now our primary weather app.

Love the new update!. I have always thought this app was just...OK. Being that it is a free app this is just fine by me, I didn’t expect much and got an OK ap. The new update however....it is a good-to great weather app now. A LOT better. New features and with a much nicer looking design. Keep up the awesome work and Lee the updates coming. This was a most welcome surprise opening the app today. I think I’d actually pay for this now so long as it keeps getting updated and with more features added such as swell and surf reports.

Poor UX and confusing. Latest app overhaul is not user friendly. Too confusing to navigate and the rain radar is too hard to read with the new colour scheme. Swiping up to see the radar is pointless because you end up shutting the app down. It’s easier to go to the website to view the old radar - can barely get a read on the new radar when 64km Mt Stapylton was the best for Brisbane metro and to estimate when storms were coming. Who decided that using a pale colour on another pale colour for a map is going to work? Previous version worked just fine and this latest design is a major backwards step. Listen to the feedback, the old version worked fine. Make your enhancements but don’t change the colour scheme and what we were used to and found easy to use. New splash screen colour just looks off and not on brand.

Excellent way to access weather but update issue. The latest update removed any ability to see per hourly chance of rainfall. For example, today we expect 7mm rainfall, but when? I have to look out the window to tell as the app just shows zero (0) for every hour. Whereas before it could tell you if you need to pack the umbrella for your 8AM walk, or don’t bother because the rain aint until 10PM that night. Also percentage chances rain at a glance overall for weekly forecasts was also removed :( Other than that, this app is all round quite useful and I like access to radars (even if it is not as hi-res accurate like the web version).

Ugly update. Functionality is okay, although it is a little bit less intuitive than the last app. However, my main problem is with the design and layout. It has really been downgraded from the last app, and they definitely need another update on design. Specifics: the margins on the main page are all over the place, and the text isn’t aligned underneath “hourly forecast” - where it says “today” and the degrees of the most recent hour, there are three different levels of alignment which is a big no no in design. Also, having the ‘rain radar’ covering vital information at the bottom of the page is distracting. Lastly, when opening the app, I’m seriously offended by the font of ‘BOM weather’. BOM is more sophisticated than this. Please fix.

Used to be useful. The new update has further dragged what was a good app into being a data fanatics work of fancy. If the rain percentage predictions introduced in the previous update were not obscure enough, the new radar predictions make this update even more fictitious. ‘Radar’ (not ‘Rain’) predictions flow seamlessly as described in the release notes, so much so that it is not easily apparent what is fact versus fiction. There needs to be an option to remove radar predictions or a means to visually differentiate between actual weather and what is predicted. Past weather is a potentially useful feature but as a stream of numbers instead of a simple graph, not quite hitting the mark. This update is the end of me and this app. Sorry BOM, you used to be great but now it is just too hard to interpret

Somewhat disappointed. There seem to be either enthusiasm or great disappointment here and I am in the latter category. Is it being on an iPad? Or being older? I liked the contrast in colours in the old app and didn’t mind having to scroll to get more than a few days forecast because that was enough. I really liked rainfall being on the opening screen. Thank you for explaining about enlarging the font- that has helped, but I still find it cluttered with the information I was less interested in and even the forecasts seem harder to read without the boxes around each one. The radar could do with greater contrast but the time bar is much clearer. Is the radar supposed to move without being pushed? Because mine is static and only moves as I tap the play button once, twice, three, four, five, six times. This lacks the drama of watching the rain approach on the screen and is fairly tedious. So if you are making improvements, consider putting more contrast in the font, background and radar.

Rain Radar prediction unreliably optimistic!. This app is great as far as the daily & hourly forecasts go -free where other apps now charge subscription fees at this detail, getting very slick with each upgrade, BUT the Rain panel’s prediction of incoming rain ALWAYS seems to show all those incoming downpours just evaporating before they reach my location! I wish I could turn off the Future extrapolation part of the Rain panel and just observe historical radar data uncontaminated by AI… in the meantime I find myself using the BOM’s individual radar feeds via the free RainRadarAU app, plus my own built-in HI (= Human Intelligence) to estimate when and how those incoming squalls will affect my location. :/

Rain radar disappointing. A few annoying things 1. Radar often is only static and you need to continuously press the fwd button 2. Previously on iPad etc you could pull down to refresh/update the weather. Sometimes now I can see the app is stuck on the morning statistics when I last opened it, and I need to close/reopen to get it to update. 3. The pale radar display is horrible. Please go back to the old one. It’s especially annoying if you open it in the dark, as I often do early in the morning when I am looking to go for a run. It is painful on the eyes! It also just not aesthetically pleasing! Perhaps you could have it as a setting choice.

Great weather app, one small issue. This is a great weather app, with easily accessible data like radar, past weather and weather warnings. The data is accurate and reliable according to the models at the time. 100% recommend as an alternative to the default weather app. One small issue in regard to the Lock Screen widget above the time. I wanted to have the temperature but it doesn’t seem to update the temperate accurately and even doesn’t display a temperature at all. I’d love for this to be fixed cause when it works, it’s fantastic!

Much needed update.. Many thanks for the considerably improved version of this app. It certainly was needed. Great layout so easy to navigate and is as comprehensive as possible. I use an iPad, by the way. My brother, who shares the house with me, still prefers Weatherzone, however, I consider the improvements to the BOM light years ahead. I took to it instantly, and particularly like the design, where facts come first ahead of fancy graphics. The rainfall display is similarly a great improvement as well. Top marks all round to the developers (in house, I presume(?)) ...regardless..thank you again.

Rain percentage is a true problem. The percentage of rain has so many variables its just not acceptable for certain areas of Australia. The pervious version of rain percentage sat in the area of 9 AM-10AM of lets say 50% chance of rain then 11Am to 12PM 75% of rain and so on, now it sits at the whole section of time that is shown on the screen which is dependant on what time you may be looking at and may say 50% of no rain. This is not accurate and needs to show a better breadth of that particular percentage and change accordingly to that percentage according to time lets say of the hour. It’s almost saying mid morning rain percentage would be the same as lunchtime, really is not the case for tropical areas and of cyclone prone areas. Should be fixed to be more user friendly and not saying 25% chance of no and Rain 50% chance of no rain and also 75% chance of no rain, all in the same area of screen??? Completely silly is my review.

From beta tester. I was involved in version 3 from the beginning of beta testing and wish to congratulate the team on a great effort bringing the app up to such a high standard. The stable reliable high quality weather information provided is second to none, genuinely world class, and Australians everywhere should feel proud of their incredible bureau of Meteorology. In an increasingly important space they are supporting Australia with quality information, as the weather gets wilder and the hazard greater. As a rural person and farmer in a non mobile coverage area I consider it the fifth emergency service!

The Best Weather App. Full Stop.. Absolutely my go to. It would be crazy if it weren’t; it’s the SOURCE of the meteorological info. My one gripe, and the reason I’m writing this, is that I can’t find anywhere, anywhere on the site, anywhere on Google, a key to the icons attached to the hourly and daily forecasts. The ones that show a little sun, with or without a cloud, which can be various deepness of grey, and be producing various thicknesses of little raindrops. What are the parameters to produce one vs another. That’s just a detail. For information and for site navigation, yep, the thing is tops. Thanks BOM folks.

Totally recommend it. I started using this app in 2019. I got this app from a recommendation by my friends because the other apps aren’t always trustworthy. This app comes straight from the government and you can totally trust it. The only thing I would add is to make an app without internet. For example I went camping lately with no wifi. There was no service and I couldn’t see the weather. This really annoyed me because I needed to know if it was gonna rain or not. To see the weather I had to get in the car and drive like a long time which I obviously didn’t do. If it is possible please fix this. Even if it is just the temperature it would be great. 👍🏽 anyway this app is awesome and it is probably the app for weather no cap. So if you are looking for an app that tells you the true weather look no further, you’ve found it. 👏🏿

The update this app needed. Reading some of the other reviews for the new version 3 update I have to wonder whether we’re all using the same app - what a bunch of whiners! Version 3 is an enormous improvement on previous versions - both aesthetically and functionality. After using another weather app with a gorgeous UI for over 10yrs, the previous BOM look and feel was like switching from colour to black & white television. Accessing some of the features was convoluted and unintuitive - such as forecasts for the week ahead. Finally my elderly mother can use this app, all the information is laid out straightforward and easy to access. After installing it on her phone and showing her how it works she got it, first time and in less than 5 mins. The new iPad compatibility is very welcome. Apps designed for a phone and stretched for a tablet screen are ugly and a horrible user experience. Now I can use the same weather app on both my devices and have also installed it on mother’s iPad. Back to the whiners. Everyone is entitled to their opinion - however, I don’t concur with any of them. There are a couple of small tweaks that can be made, regardless with v3 the app is infinitely better than it was.

Much better. I don't usually write reviews for apps, but after using the BoM app for 2+ years, it is finally at a place where I think it's really good and useable. The latest improvements include a summary in the Past screen, finally, and the Daily Forecast for the week includes a quick rainfall forecast, so I no longer have to drop down the arrow for each day to see that (and it's always raining in Tasmania so it got tiresome dropping each arrow). I'm much happier with the app since this latest update.

Great app. Radar contrast needs work. Love this app, my go-to first thing in the morning and any time I’m getting ready to leave the house. Contrast problem: The latest (3.5) update has the colours for light rain nearly indistinguishable from the colour of the ocean. If you live on the west coast like me that’s often where the rain comes from, so now I can’t tell if there is rain coming or not until it crosses the coastal border. I have to squint and show it to my dog to get a consensus on whether it’s going to rain or not. Not an improvement for my eyes, and I see ok, so I reckon it must be near useless for anyone with impaired vision.

TrexHunter1. I use this app when planning hunting and outdoor activities in remote areas where I hunt deer on my own. Self reliance and safety are for me of prime importance. I generally collect data for a month prior to a hunt and for the duration of the hunt. Temperature, wind direction and strength and rain or snowfall are really important for my own safety and help me to predict what the deer are experiencing and where they are most likely to be under the prevailing weather conditions, I do screen shots of everything while I have access online for reference later. I thoroughly recommend BoM data

BOM Weather App - Excellent. The BOM app have been developed into one of the best weather apps for Australia. The additional of coastal forecasting with the option to see wind speeds in kph or knots is really useful. It has predicted weather at time of day, it also links to rain radar. You can look at any location. Being from BOM it also has the BOM weather warnings, so you know that you can trust them You can also use it for a quick weather snapshot. … and it is free. I thoroughly recommend it. A really good app that you can rely on

New look App June. When I opened this App last week I thought I’d been directed to the website, and that it would go back to normal the next day. But no, it hasn’t. I don’t like this new one at all. The previous version was simple, colourful, easy to read, and I could find what I wanted to know in a milli-second. I use an iPad, not a smart phone. The main problem for older people like myself is that the font is too small (I can only read the daily min and max with glasses on) and the screen is too busy. The colours aren’t at all as good as before. I’m going to be looking for another weather App.

Permission required. Some time back in one of the many updates this issue was supposedly rectified. Not so on my two mini4 ipads. This is a constant ongoing problem. I can be using the app, look at weather in a family member’s location or such, go back to my location, and up there for all to see…permission required, Information unavailable. Permission has never been denied. Slide down through the listed localities click on mine and yes hello there is the weather for all to see. No request for permission. My ipads rely on wifi. I have no issues with other apps or with in particular the other weather apps. Surely I am not the only person still encountering this problem.

Cluttered compared to previous version. When apps go through such a major revamp, is it possible for developers to offer the old skin? I found the previous app far easier to interpret and find the information I needed. The current layout is very busy and congested on my iPhone. For example, previously the temperature as a number combined with the probability of rain over the next 24hrs or so as a line graph made it easy to see the trend. Now the display has the cloud or sun graphic plus the temp plus rain probability as number percentage, with a far less discernible gradient showing as colour intensity. If it’s 70% rain, I’m not expecting it to be sunny so I feel the graphic only clutters. Please simplify the layout, especially considering the limited real estate on a smart phone.

So few features. I used to have a BOM weather app and it gave me many functions like the ability to select which marine warnings would constantly appear or would allow me to show the daily temperature 24/7 sitting in a red circle on the app icon itself so you didn’t even have to open the app itself. I can’t even find any user settings whatsoever to tailor it to my needs. For example every time I open the app I have to have to close the marine warnings. I don’t even want them to appear, cluttering the top of the screen. Previous BOM apps allowed you to deselect features if you did not want them. I loved the previous BOM app. I don’t understand why they got rid of it for one that is far less featured in capability?
