Texas Historical Marker Guide Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Not user friendly. There isn’t a way to add pictures of markers that are not on the list and no way to add a physical address. When you add a picture it doesn’t show up.

History. I love history. Reading markers help the long trips go by faster.

Great information but a little crashy. We use this all the time as we make our way around TX. If it were just a bit more stable...

Really good except “nearest markers”. This is a really great app! Only issue is with location. After first installing it would never show my location. After deleting the app and reinstalling it will show my current location but the “Nearest Markers” option always returns “Cannot find - check that location services is enabled” - which of course it is. Tried toggling between “Always” and “When Using App” but no love. But I generally use the Geographic Regions mode which works great. And have learned a lot of Texas History! Interestingly when using the map in Geographic Regions mode, the app has no problem showing where I am on the map!

Best for Texas. If you're looking for an app to help you find the Historical Markers in Texas, this is the one. Narrow by closest or city or county. Get directions. Or if you're driving by and wonder what that one was, read the text from your phone.

Too Complicated. I guess I’m an idiot. I can’t even get off of the guide page. I just want to view markers we come across while driving. This looks way too complicated.

Great tool if you are visiting Texas.. This a thorough and indispensable guide if you live in or are planning to visit Texas. It gives you great information on almost every Texas historical landmark! It will also help you locate it on a map and lead you there. You can also take your own pictures and tie them to whatever landmark you visit. This is a great app! Thanks!!

Awful. App is extraordinarily dense and difficult. Virtually useless. Unsatisfactory experience. Do not recommend.

Love it. A bit slow at times but overall I love this app.

Texas History. The historical markers are meant to serve as reminders of the past, but today's generation for the most part are unappreciative of the past. I love to stop at markers every chance I can, but I think most people are desensitized how common they are and they've become invisible to most people. This app is great and I can't believe it hasn't been available longer. Nothing could serve these markers greater than this app for those who don't have time to stop, want to learn more about the greatest country and state of all time, and/or have wondered about that one marker they've never had time to stop at. Thanks for creating this app!

Broken. Can’t add photos

Checking In and Flagging visits. We are not able to do visit check ins or flag sites as described in app. There is no button or option to check in at a location.

No location. I can see all the markers but I cannot see my location on the map now.

None of the historic markers were on the map. Driving down the highways of TX for the last two days and literally none of the historic markers we passed we in this app. Waste of money. Plus it crashes when I try to refresh the map.

Great app!. Travel a lot across Texas! Great app to help kids learn true Texas history!

Needs improvement. Not at all user friendly. Please develop a location tracker that shows all the markers in the location. Having to scroll around a map is a buzz kill. I want to know what’s around me. Not search for map locations. Having the ability to see what the history on the marker is, is nice!

Nice app. Would be a five star app, if you could hear a narrative as you pass by. Can’t drive and read or can’t always stop.

Almost Perfect. By far, this is THE BEST of all the TX historical markers apps... If you'll just add the little blue dot that shows you where you are in the map (you know what I mean-- the gps thingamajig) then this will be the ONLY one to use. Right now, it's too labor intensive to flip back and forth between the map app and this app. Add that blue dot and this app will be GOLDEN!!!!

Fantastic Resource!. Searching marker by geolocation is a boon to the traveler. Easily fining monuments, markers, etc while moving about. Lots of data points and and history. My favorite new app! Very understandably, not all markers have narratives or the text from the marker. Quickly saw that a good number have “don’t know where this one is” despite having street location in app. How might the app user assist with app database update? Might there be future ability to crowdsource or add photo URLs in info? (Obviously the app would be overwhelmed with inclusion of over 1000 images, but links would be nice added value.)

Won't work. Crashed before first use

Poor customer service. I've tried repeatedly to contact this site. No response. I love it, but there MUST be a way to turn off the incessant alerts

great info, glad I found this app. wish the location would refresh faster and figure out, when driving, what markers are coming up ahead .. am passenger trying to give interesting narrative to what is coming up

Great app for marker hunters.. The app is nice and clean on the screen. Easy to use. I like the information displayed and how it's presented. This version appears not to work with GPS updates so I can't give it 5 stars. If it gets corrected I'll update my review. Overall tailored and fun to use. GPS functionality will make this app "the must have".

Crashing. Needs updating. Keeps crashing! Otherwise a great app. This is a Texas necessity. A Texessity!

Waste of money!. Update: the app doesn’t work well in sparse coverage areas (read West Texas). Once I was back in populated areas, it was much better. So I changed my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. First time I’ve ever spent money on an app, but was excited to think we could read historical marketers as we drive around Texas! The app worked fine for the first 2 markers, then shut down. Every time I try to open it, it closes. It won’t do anything! Doesn’t even stay open long enough to type the marker number!!! Bad waste of money!!!!!

What I needed. I had been looking for an app like this for a long time. Glad I found it.

Finally!!! The historical marker app I’ve been looking for. Whenever on a road trip through Texas I always see the Historical Marker signs. Now I can look them up by the code on the sign and find out what happened in that area.

Talk. This apt should have voice enable so when on the road it will talk toy you about upcoming markers. Funny that android phones app can do it

Bug Update Needed. Very excited about this app! Unfortunately it crashes when doing almost anything + major lag on tap-to-screen interactions (including keyboard typing). Please consider an update or fix! 🙏🏼

Can't get to search box. Love this app - I used it extensively on a recent road trip. With DH driving, I can search for the number at the bottom of the "marker ahead" signs to see if it's worthy stopping for. I just installed the 11/16 update, and unfortunately the search box is hidden under the top banner and I can't type into it. Pulling the page down just refreshes the data and still doesn't let me type into it. I have an iPhone 5S, iOS 10.3.2. Please fix it before my next road trip and I'll update my review.

Right idea does not work. It is filled with what looks like all the markers however the location services do not work which leaves you digging through all of them versus the ones nearby.

Ugh!. Can’t look up by marker number. I’m probably asking for my money back

The best way to find markers in Texas!. We use the app while traveling around the state and this makes the hunt much easier. Any excuse to get out on the road and see more of the state. Bravo, this is a wonderful tool.

Love this app!. I enjoy driving the backroads. This app helps me find new places to check out that I would never have known about otherwise. SUGGESTIONS - 1) make a way to “mark” each one that you have visited to keep track so when you look at a list of markers in an area you can see which ones you’ve missed. 2) make a way for photos to be shared with others who use the app 3) after you develop #1 - maybe have a contest to see who has visited the most markers in a certain area - coordinate with little towns to “sponsor” each contest and drive business to that little town. Coupons ads whatever.

Not good!. We thought this app would have a way to search for historical markers by NUMBER! You can’t search by number, only by the names of the sites which are in alphabetical order. Useless for searching for numbers you see on the highway signs! I hate that I had to PAY for a useless app!

Read all about the history. Drive by site seeing of historical markers, so cool.
