I want to love it. I want to love it. I'm a long long time Reeder user. I like the pattern of [un]read stories, even though I often just mark a large swath of them as read. But I'd try the new paradigm if and only if I could still organize my feeds into folders for things like News, Tech, Local, etc. If you can ship this feature, I'll resubscribe and give it a real try. Dipping back over to Reeder Classic for now.

Long time user. Been using reeder for almost as long as it’s been available. Happy to pay the sub and support the dev but not going to stop using classic for now, too many missing features, some of which are critical to my expectations for a feed app. To list a few: - Mark as read is missing, this alone makes this app almost unusable - folders or any manual organization options - option to display more compact list views, in fact there are almost no view options Really excited for the future of reeder but doesn’t feel right to give a more positive recommendation as it is now.

Ambitious but Early. I love the idea and the execution. Please, please bring back CMD-Click to load stories into your default browser in the background like Reeder 5 does. Looking forward to the updates.

A New Approach. When I heard about the changes to the app, I wasn’t sure, but after giving it an honest shot, I’m sold. I love not worrying about if a post is unread or read, the social style feed works so well. The syncing it rock solid and pretty fast, what’s there just works and works well. There are feature missing though that keep me from giving it 5 stars. Thankfully most of the missing features are on the coming soon list. Once I have text options and keyboard shortcuts, this becomes a 5 star review.

These is some kind of BIG change. Ok. That four stars is really for me. The app is completely solid, super fast. Makes me eager to cancel a subscription to a feed service, in fact, it's so fast in syncing with iCloud. It's just great. It's everything I could ask for in a reading multitool... I wish there were keyboard shortcuts for Later and Favorite. I haven't been able to figure that out. And.... Good God do I miss read/unread. This is a massive mental shift and changes the way I interact with my incoming sources. This mentality of just syncing timeline location has been incredibly difficult. I'm far from giving up on it and I subscribed annually right away. But... whew... this is a big ask for a heavy feed reader!

Not the Reeder you've expected. App feels polished and smooth, but leaves a lot to be desired. Folders are missing, and there are no Pocket, Instapaper, Inoreader clients... It is reasonably priced, but without these features it's a step back from classic to me

I'm giving it a chance. It is certainly a big change, but I do appreciate that Classic Reeder is sticking around.

good. I'm a long-time user of Reeder and have paid for every version of the app. I think the new version looks great and is useful, but it's far from perfect. For example, I really need the ability to change the font and adjust the font size, especially on the Mac, where the text is too small! Also, it would be great if the new version could incorporate the features of the old version so I wouldn't have to keep both apps.

Shrugs. The app is beautiful. I also completely understand why the developer left the old Reeder app fully functioning. This app is nothing like that one. Which is fine. But not for me. I’m gonna stick to the Classic app for the foreseeable future. At the very least i want to be able to sort my RSS feeds in folders like in the past apps. Don’t seem to be able to do any kind of sorting here past alphabetical. Maybe the app will get better in time.

Like, but…. Really disrupts the fundamental aspect of any RSS app: eliminating the clutter of read items.

Long time user. The new Reeder app is great, and I appreciate you still supporting the old, now Reeder Classic app. I have purchased every version of Reeder and appreciate all the work put into the app. The only thing I’m hoping you could add is for those of us who don’t care for subscriptions, can you add a lifetime onetime purchase? I’m not trying to be a jerk, but subscription fatigue is real. A lifetime onetime purchase option would make this a 5 star app. Other then that awesome job on the app.

Fantastic new release, amazing attention to detail. Such a great way to stay up-to-date with your favorite publications in a beautiful and easy-to-use interface. Love that there are still people creating boutique apps with attention to detail, including great UX and beautiful animations. To power users of old Reeder leaving negative reviews: just use the old version and stop complaining about something that wasn't built for you. It's still supported by the dev. Also, I'm more than happy to pay a subscription fee for an app that continues to receive love and attention from the dev. It's incredibly generous that the dev even shipped improvements for the old app that was a one-time purchase. How would you like it if you were paid a salary for one year, and then we all got mad that you didn't work for free for the next 10 years? But seriously, if you care about good apps from developers who care, this is an essential utility for consuming content on the increasingly fragmented and messy internet.

What I’ve been waiting for. I’ve been looking for a universal hub for all my media, and Reeder delivers exactly that. I love how quickly I was able to import my feeds from Reeder Classic, and connecting to my Mastodon and Bluesky accounts was a breeze. Adding podcasts and subreddits is just as easy. The sync across devices works flawlessly. What’s even better is that if this version isn’t for you, Reeder Classic is still available. But this isn’t just another sequel—it’s something new, offering more than its predecessor ever did.

Needs a read/unread visual cue. Sorry, it does!. This is a neat idea that plays into the notion that we can’t 100% our feeds anymore and thus don’t need to see that we have thousands of unread RSS feed entries (and videos, and Reddit posts, and so on and on) we’ll never get to. As a complement to Reeder Classic (but, personally, not a replacement for it), I can easily see a use case that has me using both daily. But I won’t pick this up again until there’s some visual indication of which posts I’ve read/seen/watched/heard. A syncing timeline isn’t enough (and, so far in my testing, not very reliable in terms of where it lands after a sync). I don’t need unread item counts or empty feed folders, but please just dim the items I’ve interacted with (or, better, give us an option to automatically hide those from the main feed once they’ve been interacted with). Without that option, this feels way more unwieldy than a large list of unread feeds in Classic, and I’ve only loaded up about four feeds so far. A small fix, even if it’s off by default but available as an option, will go a long way.

Subscription Push. Another example of developers pushing subscriptions onto everyone. I'll be using Reeder Classic, where I pay ONCE for a feature set that is more than enough for an RSS reader.

This is not an RSS App. Just for anyone wondering what's going on, seems the developer changed the entire design or purpose of the app to now make it just a feed of your news and stuff, as opposed to a true RSS Reader App. WOuld have ben MUCH beeter if they just named the old one Reeder RSS or something to clarify. Again, This is NOT an RSS Reader app. It looks to be nearly identicle to Tapestry, although with different UI & customization options. I do like being able to open links directly in an In-App Browser, but that would be useful in the actual Reeder RSS app. I mean, I still LIKE this app? But it's just not a replacement for Reeder. Reeder is dead. Long live Reeder.

Sigh. Having read and understood the new paradigm, I still can't give this thing beyond a couple of stars. Regardless, I subscribed to show support, but this needs serious work. Where are all of the display settings? Those and other usability features should have been a baseline for any new version (especially one asking for a subscription). For me this version is unusable in its present state.

I’m falling in love with this app. It took me a few days to get past the differences from Reeder Classic (which I’ve been using for years!) but then it suddenly clicked, not having read/unread states is liberating. I can still “mark something unread” by saving it in Later. Being able to follow different media types and have my own personal internet feed is excellent!

Font size. I am a long time subscriber, but the lack of settings to increase font size is a deal breaker for me. Apps focused on reading should include accessibility options by default. Hopefully this is a temporary oversight, but I am happily using the old version until then.

Departure. Unread counts, mark as read on scroll, and feed sorting options (oldest to newest) seem like important things that are not in this new version of Reeder. The new UI is nice though

A Social Media-Style RSS Feed. I have always liked the idea of an RSS feed, but always found the interface of even the most highly regarded apps to feel kind of clunky. This new Reeder app takes all of the articles and other types of content I want to follow and displays it in a feed that looks and feel like a social network. I love it.

Quite promising. It’s growing on me! Not necessarily a substitute for the classic app, but has its own charms. Trivial but some rss icons seem to be missing, like FT’s. It’s regrettable that Twitter is not supported. (Or should I say that that man-child boss doesn’t support open internet.) Pleasantly surprised that there’s some support for Substack. Pricing is fair. It would be better if it’s more like Agenda’s model though. Give us more app icons please. Widgets too. Looking forward to its future!

Death by subscription!. The app is a nice concept, and I like the idea that I could curate a YouTube feed through it. However, the video player could use more features and a fullscreen experience. Unfortunately, I won’t be continuing with this app because of the subscription model. I strongly dislike subscriptions and would much prefer a one-time, lifetime purchase option. If that were available, I’d be interested. As it stands, the subscription model isn’t for me.

Critical functionality removed. Unlike the previous Reeder, it does not support integration with third party RSS servers. I’m unable to use my FreshRSS instance without exporting/importing OPML(renders FreshRSS useless, paywalled feature) or generating a RSS link for every category on my own server, but this means I can’t subscribe to new feeds from Reeder. I love the idea, being able to read a bunch of sources inside one app, but I’m not dumping my centralized RSS server for this. No sell.

Let us mark things as read!!. Look I want to support you so I immediately subbed for the year, but I’m not giving this 5-stars until I can mark things read/unread.

A terrible new direction for Reeder. I’ve been a fan of Reeder for years, as the obvious best app for RSS on iOS. Now the developer has decided to archive that app as Reeder Classic and pursue a completely different idea that isn’t even about reading RSS. Not to mention that it’s a utility that does not provide its own service, yet for some reason charges a subscription to use it. Ridiculous.

Total Regression. I immediately downloaded and paid a year subscription. I've used Reeder since 2011. This does absolutely not work for me. I have over 200 feeds, organized in folders by topic (e. g., "real news," "political jabber," "science" "mac news"). I can scan / process / skim through a couple thousand articles in the course a day because of it. Now it's one gigantic pile of mush that I cannot mark read or put into piles, whether on the iphone or my Mac. No folders, no keyboard shortcuts, no unread counts. This totally takes away the power of Reeder: the ability to fight back against the tidal wave so you can be informed.

Great take on reading from the best. I like this new version of reeder. It just came out, so I don’t have a ton to say, but I’m enjoying the design a lot and also it was easy to get set up with my feeds from Reeder Classic - just export the OPML file and then I was good to go (some feeds were dead or changed so I double checked those to add them back if the site hadn’t died or moved - not the apps fault). Looks like an app I’ll be working to get settled into. Only thing it’s taking me a while to absorb (it’s day one) is the read statuses on articles. I know I’ll get it, but that’s a big change.

App can be both your doom or your relief. Being an All-In-One app for your most used sources of content (rss,podcast,Mastodon,YouTube,Reddit, BlueSky…), plus your Links/ReadLater hub… Is like putting all your eggs in a single basket. Great for consuming, bad for your time! LoL In a serious note, it’s great. UI is simple and clean. Once it is setup, is a bless! Hope to see more customization related to background colors (I would love white). Keep it up!

An absolute disgrace to the legacy of Reeder. I’ve been waiting for an update to Reeder Classic which I rely on every day. I am one of Silvio’s biggest fans but this app is a huge step in the wrong direction. I am not opposed to change, but everything that makes Reeder (now reeder classic) perfect has been destroyed by this app.

Very disappointed. I downloaded it at the first time and paid a year's fee, but the content of rss cannot be updated in real time, the video click does not respond, and it cannot be played at all. The UI design is even more backward, without the refreshing texture of the old reeder, and there are many useless shadows and borders.

See where this is going. I see where the developer is going with this. And yes, I have some hesitation. It doesn’t mean I’m not open to considering a massive change to the way I use the app. But I can’t even import from the now “Reeder Classic”(5). That’s a huge deal. I don’t want to mess with the export and lose what is read and isn’t. Not stars or moved to read later (forget what called). And yes. It’s now a yearly (or monthly) subscription. I know this makes some folks angry, but I don’t mind paying for a well developed app with timely updates. I know this developer has been decent to great with that. No reason to think this wouldn’t motivate them further to continue quality work. Quit complaining about that. You have choices. Exercise them. I’ve used Reeder since it launched (or shortly after). Bought all the versions until now. Been happy to. Developers deserved to be paid for quality product. I can’t think of anything that stands out that would make me give any of those versions less than 4 stars at very least. It pains me to give a 2 star rating. And I know the developer might be thrilled to offer a new take. But the lessons of Marco Arment’s recent dive into drastically changing Overcast, an app used every single day by many, should serve as a warning. It didn’t work out. It was full of bugs and threw off habits and workflows for a lot of angry users (myself included). He has since worked quickly to address these, and I applaud that. Quick updates and communicating the fixes that are still coming has mitigated the damage. I’m happy to report that I’m back to using a mostly functional app with some annoyances that I know will be soon remedied. Reeder is definitely a similar app for me. This will upend everything for me. I know Reeder Classic will be available. But it’s not clear if it will be supported and if so, for how long. I’d love a way to try out this new version without committing. But using what I have now (without causing problems in classic - so only importing). I don’t want to export/import or re-add feeds. A develope can share data between apps under the same team ID. Perhaps that’s in the plan. If so, great! But I am not willing to subscribe until I know this new version works for me. And I’d like to not just play with a few new subscriptions. I haven’t dug into what you get without subscribing. But it would be good to offer existing users a shot at using this new version at the subscribed level of access for some limited time. Couldn’t say what that time should be. Just long enough though to get a feel (3 months would seem very reasonable to me, but less than 30 days definitely does not). I applaud taking a new direction, but it was quite a shock to see Reeder 5 go classic for the most recent update. Cryptic release notes didn’t help. I had to hunt to find this new app. Seems there needs to be some clear info to current users so they don’t freak out like I just did. Initially thought this might just be Reeder 6. I was ready to buy! So if the developer reads this, I think you might want to head off a potential disaster like the Overcast situation. I want to see you succeed! Have loved your previous Reeder versions! It’s an app I use every day. And it’s important to me for both personal and professional reasons. It’s a big deal. Hope this feedback is useful, and I’m ready to flip this one to 5 stars ASAP!

A wonderful unified experience. New paradigms are often difficult to get right but Reeder presents a great experience out of the gate. It goes far beyond the scope of a canonical reader app while retaining a level of craft and polish that is delightful.

Wrong direction. I write this with nothing but love for this developer. I have bought and used daily every version of Reeder that has ever existed. The opinionated experiments in this new version are thoughtfully implemented, well designed, and well built. But I just deleted the app. This new approach completely breaks 15 years of workflow and muscle memory for me. I will continue using Reeder Classic for as long as it works, and I would even pay good money for a major update to the Reeder Classic approach. But this just isn’t working for me.

Hopeful for future updates. This new rewrite is super fast! Totally get the new paradigm but hopeful for folders to return, and keyboard shortcuts on Mac. Definitely miss read/unread, but actually enjoy entries always listed (I used "classic" Reeder in All mode a lot).

Don’t waste your time if you like the old Reeder and RSS. I’ve been an outspoken fan and purchaser of every version of Reeder. This newest Reeder is absolute garbage as an RSS reader. Worse, the developer follows the trend of subscription model greed. If you’ve been a loyal customer needing a great Google Reader replacement for your RSS feed collection, save time and disappointment by skipping this app.

Worthless. Only 10 feeds max allowed on free version??? You gotta be kidding. It’s useless making it a 100% paid app at $10 per year. Can’t add any new feeds unless you know the exact RSS URL. Who knows the exact url of a feed? Maybe, NO ONE! Duh. See ya.

Adjustment. Takes a few days to adjust from Reeder Classic, but then it becomes clear that Reeder. is designed for how you actually used Reeder Classic. Instead of piling up, you just browse through. No more crazy unread counts or declaring Mark All As Read bankruptcy. Love the in-app YouTube viewer implementation and the comics are great! Can’t wait to see what features are added next.

Loving the new direction. I’ve been using Reeder for years. It took a while to get used to this new app, especially the lack of read/unread indicators. But, honestly, it’s like a breath of fresh air! Editing this review because the developer has added font size and line height adjustments for the reading view. Very happy this has been added (along with other improvements)! Looks like the developer is listening and rolling out changes based on feedback. Great support!

It’s Ok.. The App is not as good as reeder 5. You currently cannot organize feeds in folders by subject. Not of a fan of the subscription, but did subscribe for a year as a thank you for creating the orginal reeders.

Missing … everything. Let’s get one thing out of the way: the subscription model is fine. Let’s reward great developers with a real living and with enough revenue to continue building great things. This new Reeder is not a great thing. It’s half-baked and solves problems that don’t exist while creating new ones. Take a step back and look at what Reeder was (and Reeder Classic continues to be): a beautiful, smart, simple way to organize and consume news in almost any form. Now this Reeder rolls along, and … just chucks that out the window. If you use something other than Apple products sometimes, too bad. The new Reeder forces your backend to be Apple-only, so no more common newsfeed with your other devices. If you’ve spent years curating a newsfeed with a service you trust (or self-host), too bad. Everything goes into Reeder now and you’re going to lose all your organization. If you like to scroll your content to see what you want to read, too bad. Reeder’s read state is tied to scrolling now, so no more perusing. This is, collectively, a baffling miss from a developer who made (and continues to support) one of the finest, most user-friendly pieces of software I’ve had the pleasure of using.

It's a Big Swing. As a long time Reeder user, I was eager to see the new version of one of my most used programs, and right now, I think Reeder 5 (or Reeder Classic) is a better fit for me as I use it for RSS only. The new version however, may be a great solution for those that follow content in a variety of formats or services. The developer has already shared that there are features coming that will greatly add to the expierence, like folders. The unified timeline approach is interesting, but I really wish it had a setting or way to hide or visually dim old or previously viewed content. While I'm not a fan of subscriptions, I really hope that the change to a subscription model means that we'll see active development on this version.

I get it, but needs some improvements. I beta tested this app for a couple months, and although it took some getting used to, this approach to feeds makes sense. I do wish X profiles could be pulled in (not Silvio's fault) and there are certain RSS feeds that work in Reeder Classic, but not in this new Reeder, which is a bit annoying. It would be nice if the default reader view could be set from the app level, and not have to be changed for each individual feed (or at least have a default setting). I will be sticking with it. I am disappointed it's a subscription. I would gladly do paid upgrades, and having yet another subscription was almost a deal breaker for me.

Almost there. Like some of the other reviewers, I really wanted to like the new Reeder. And I think it’s almost there. I LOVE the ability to have many other feeds collected, however I really need the ability to remove them from my queue, I don’t care about unread counts. If we had that ability this would be a 4 star app, if we had more customization options; 5 stars. Hoping for these improvements.

Like The New Features. Like the new features. Please Please bring back mark as read so I can only see the articles I haven't read. Filtering by tag instead of feed type would be nice too. Looking forward to more regular updates.

Interesting take. I like the app and it’s simple elegant design. I would like to see the 10 feeds in the free version increased to minimum 20 if not 50. I’m also not a fan of subscriptions and would like to see a onetime lifetime purchase option, if implemented this would be a five star app.

Poor - a step back. This is a huge step back from Reeder Classic. If you like Reeder Classic, you should stay with the classic. Just my opinion. When I started using classic, it just worked, easy to organize feeds and set the reader view on all the feeds. The in app viewing of feed items immediately failed for the first few feed items I checked.

Confusing? Needs More Options. The home feed displays oldest first, but then not all in the correct order. Sometimes it’s right then other times it displays a huge chunk from a single feed going back over 5 years. Makes it unusable. There are no options currently to change the ordering - which seems odd. And then… how do you clear your home feed? There is no option to do so and there doesn’t seem to be a read / not read option. It just saves your scroll position in the feed. Maybe that’s a purposeful decision to make something that’s ‘not an RSS reader’ and I can respect that. Maybe it’s just not for me. Or maybe I need a few more quality of life type features to use it.

Novel take on a reader app. I’ve long used what is now Reeder Classic as my RSS feed app due to its beautiful design and focus on simplicity. This new iteration of Reeder is really intriguing with its support for various media formats and social feeds, as well as its tracking of scroll position instead of read status. Cool ideas! I look forward to future features, particularly personalization of content presentation — type size, type faces, contrast level, etc.

Needs a read/dismiss feature. Wrote to the dev on this but didnt hear back. It’s a well-built app, but I can’t get to feed zero so I get lost in being unsure what I’ve read and what I haven’t.

Great 1.0, with some quibbles. Really liked the old Reeder, and I really like the idea of integrating all of these services into a unified timeline. With that said, it’s easier to complain than to compliment, so here are my pain points: 1. Clunky 'Add Feed' screen. If the ( ) button added the feed immediately (turning into a button to remove it), and the 'Add' button became an 'Done' button, I’d likely have saved >10 minutes setting things up. Not sure what the upside to the current setup is. 2. No way to dismiss the miniplayer On a dedicated podcast app, it makes sense for the miniplayer to be a permanent part of the interface, but this isn't just a podcast app. It’d be nice to be able to push the miniplayer out of the way entirely (stopping what, if anything, is playing). Right now it seems like you have to quit the app to get rid of it. 3. Video vs Audio inconsistency. At the moment I’m kind of tossing up whether to use this as a PocketCasts replacement. The ability to subscribe to youtube channels in the same 'stream' as podcasts is enticing, but right now only sticking around so long as you’re on the same entry. You can work around this with PIP, but it doesn't happen automatically. Automatically going into PIP if you scroll away from a playing video would be good – using the same play/pause/queue etc UI for both audio & video would be better.

No read/unread filter. There is no way to mark articles as read.

Great start to a new era!. A welcome refresh to Reeder Classic (which I’ve been using for a few years). Text presentation has improved in this version, and the support for video is a fantastic addition. I subscribed for the year because I only see this app getting better.

I’m Sad. Reeder has been a staple for many years for me, but this change to both a subscription and very limited functionality compared to previous versions is very frustrating.

A step forward. I was used to previous RSS readers, like the previous version of Reeder, so initially resisted this. But it’s so much better — no managing read/unread flags, etc. Plus incorporating YouTube, Reddit, etc. Excellent. Would be nice to have widgets on iOS/iPadOS, as with the previous version.

One step forwards, two steps back. There’s some great ideas in the new version, but some of the risks miss the mark. The UI is less pleasing and customizable than before. And I get the sentiment behind not showing what was read but in practice it’s a less satisfying user experience.

Nice but I still prefer Reeder Classic. I like how the new interface looks and I prefer how it handles Flickr feeds now. However, I find that Reeder Classic is much faster to use with a keyboard. I miss how smooth and intuitive it was to navigate the app with the arrow keys, and the ability to open the article in a browser with the “B” keyboard shortcut. I also miss the ability to assign keyboard shortcuts. I set up Option-M to import recipes into Mela for example.

Almost perfect. I really love this app. So much that I do not even go to Youtube anymore. But it’s missing a few things for it to be finished. 1) A way to filter out video shorts + more filter options (dates, date ranges, etc…) 2) There is no way to filter with/without tags. If you want to see a list of items with no tags (or specific tags attached), you just cannot yet.

Minimalist and intentional. The app helped me be more intentional in what media I’m consuming. The YT, podcast and Reddit integration makes this a multitool app that is worth your time and money. Thank you for making this app!

scrolling to top is dumb now -02/25. Every iOS app. You double tap the top of the screen to jump to the top. You've changed this behavior on an update. Please revert.

Ok app, limited updates and settings, poor support. Loved using the old reeder app but this one seems like it’s DOA, limited updates, limited options for personalization, rss feeds broken but usable with other apps and no reply when contacting the developer. Look elsewheee

Good UI. Fabulous design, but it’s still hard to get used to the new way of consuming RSS in a permanent feed (you can’t delete or mark articles as "read"). Hope it will have a switch in the preferences one day to do it the old way. In-app video playback is awesome, unparalleled, (when it works, 9 times out of 10).

Failure - Classic UI is way better. Everything about the classic UI is better in my opinion. Everything isn’t so huge. The icon is way better. Automatic reader review. Swiping between different views. This app has lost the wonderful aesthetic that made it great. And it’s lost it’s target audience. He’s obviously trying to appeal to a broader audience, but it lost what made classic so good in the process, and alienated previous users. I like the idea of a central hub app that he’s presenting here, but the UI just needs a massive overhaul and more customization. Or better yet: just provide the classic UI as an option for the entire app including the icon. And allow automatic reader view instead of having to click it every time.

Promising app but needs polishing.. I really tried to like this new version of Reeder but the previous one was already the best rss reader out there. It would be great if it would be possible to make the sidebar post smaller with less text preview. Also the inline Youtube feature is pretty slow to load videos. Lastly I find the ways to save posts quite confusing between all the options available.

Missing critical feature. Can’t wrap my head around the lack of timeline sorting. It’s important to many to read the timeline in chronological order. Glad I only paid for a month. Back to NetNewsWire :(

Now for something completely different…. So…. How does one migrate from Old Reeder to Mew Reeder? Unknown. This is in no way an even similar app. It’s something completely different. It should have a different name.

Subcription. As a paid user of Reeder Classic, do I need to pay again to this new version?

It seemed odd at first, but now I really like it. The first time I tried this Reeder it seemed very strange. I was very used to news readers based around the idea of you reading everything. I’d go through the groups every day, at least skimming through all the articles, getting all the unread counts to 0. After a while, that started to make reading my feeds seem like work, especially if I skipped a day or two and the unread count kept climbing. Reeder doesn’t work that way. Instead of tracking what you’ve read, it just keeps track of where you are in time. Whenever you open the app you can scroll up the list to see articles that have come in since the last time you looked at the app, or you can just jump to “now” and see what’s new. There’s no “read” or “unread” state for articles, just your current position in the list. It seems less organized, but it’s also kind of freeing. I’ve really come to enjoy how Reeder works.

All in one media aggregator. I was a user of the now classic Reeder and while there are definitely some things I miss like having local downloads of articles I think this app is fantastic and it has replaced Reeder Classic. I can get my podcasts, YouTube, Reddit, Mastodon, and RSS feeds all in one place. I never have to check any other apps. It’s all here and there’s PiP for videos too. Definitely recommend using it as a replacement for YouTube’s app and for podcasts too.

Best app ever. The app I use the most everyday

Feature Request: Automatic Reader View. Amazing App, Simple to use. Could you please add an option to automatically open Reader View when clicking on any feed. I used to miss alot of notifications in previous version of Reeder. I wish this one can notify me ASAP when new feed comes out.

Autre point frustrant : Reeder ne reconnaît pas certains flux RSS sur certains sites, alors que d’autres lecteurs RSS (même très basiques) y arrivent sans problème. Je ne sais pas d’où vient la différence, mais c’est un frein à l’utilisation.

New app right after iOS 18 broke CJK reading. It's unfortunate timing, yes, but once iOS 18 came out the font is broken for CJK characters. It's a shame all the focus is on this new app

Subpar and misleading . DO NOT USE FOR WORK.. Not user friendly at all. Too complicated to use. Folders keep reorganising to default with no updates. No notifications to say new item in feed. Also does not update automatically, you have to manually go and refresh the feed to check for new items. Miss a day or two and it’s utter chaos. Badge icon does not show any notification or count either. Strongly do not recommend because even when I reached out to customer support thinking it may be a device or user issue, all requests went unanswered. Promptly cancelled my subscription and deleted the app.

Comics feeds no longer working. There is no way to contact the developer from the app (e.g. by email), so I post it here: Comics feeds are no longer working.

Still not useful. No button mark all read, swipe right/left better use like next/back. This is critical options for me. App icon I don’t like.

Well thought out and beautifully designed. The newest version of Reeder is beautiful and lets you merge multiple feeds into a single one. The subscription pricing is incredibly reasonable too.

The only feed(s) you need. Reeder helps me get what I want from the web without being assaulted by the slop. Pro tip: limiting yourself to 10 feeds in the free tier is a GREAT way to wean yourself off an addiction to infinite scrolls. But paying for good things is how good things keep getting made 👍

Wrong Direction. Having tried very hard to adapt to the new workflow from Reeder 3, the newer version just makes so little sense to me. Sorry, Silvio.

Bluesky doesn’t work. Cannot login to Bluesky if you have 2 factor authentication turned on.

Sad. Overall a downgrade from the previous version

End of an era?. As a longtime, diehard user of Reeder, this new version is nothing short of an absolute disappointment. I tried to remain optimistic and hopeful despite my trepidations about its new reading workflow, even going so far as to subscribe for a month and put the app through its paces. Not only did things not go well, but the app is lacking in important functionality: 1. Importing an OPML continually failed during the verification process, either right away or mid-process. Quitting and reloading the app had no impact, nor did moving the OPML file onto the device instead of iCloud Drive. Only after countless attempts did it finally complete the verification and allow me to import feeds, except… 2. Multiple feeds faulted out with an error. Manually importing those same exact feeds also failed, with the app throwing an “Error, please try again later” or something along those lines. Yet they all work just fine in my other RSS app, and even a double-check of the network connection to those feeds shows no issues or access denials. Reeder simply refuses to import them, the exact cause not given to even troubleshoot anything further. 3. Not providing any other sync options aside from iCloud is a baffling and troublesome choice. Given the issues myself and so many others experienced with iCloud syncing in the Classic version, the reliance on that as part of the backend process for this new one doesn’t inspire confidence—some people have already written about these iCloud issues persisting in Reeder 6. I would think there should be no reason why the fetch can’t be done using a third party aggregator, even while still taking advantage of the unified timeline. 4. Zero options to customize the reader view; font face/styling/size, layout, spacing, contrast, etc., all missing in action. This is terrible from an accessibility and readability perspective, even more egregious when the font selector tools are built into the OS. 5. No discoverable keyboard shortcuts—at least in the iPad version—by holding down the Command key. Advancing articles can be done using the arrow keys, but is that the only one available? On iPhone, there’s no discernible way to move to the next article from within the article view itself; no next button appears like the Classic version, and over-swiping has no effect. It seems the only way to scroll through articles is to swipe back to the list, and then tap into the next one there. There were a couple more issues I noticed during my testing, but my frustration with a once stellar app has caused them to escape my memory. That is not something I state lightly: I absolutely loved Reeder before now. Far and away it was my most important app outside the browser, and RSS is the backbone of my web experience. I say “was”, as I have my doubts and concerns about the Classic version standing the test of time—which itself already had lingering bugs and rendering issues I simply lived with, because I enjoyed the app too much. I’m not happy feeling stuck in the position of searching for alternatives to use, but it may have just reached the point of no return.

Terrible ideas. I do not like being forced into a new paradigm, one where basics do not make sense and functionality in actually anti-functionality. You can do much better, including Reeder Classic

Good. It’s a good experience, I tried hard to use the new version, but there are things that don’t work as expected. It’s accumulating a lot of already-read material and taking up space in my iCloud. Moreover, it doesn’t make sense for those who primarily use the ‘Home’ list to not have the lists that feed the Home list automatically updated as well.

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!

Novel take on a reader app. I’ve long used what is now Reeder Classic as my RSS feed app due to its beautiful design and focus on simplicity. This new iteration of Reeder is really intriguing with its support for various media formats and social feeds, as well as its tracking of scroll position instead of read status. Cool ideas! I look forward to future features, particularly personalization of content presentation — type size, type faces, contrast level, etc.

This works for me. This way of consuming my feeds and social media works well for me. Not seeing numbers of what I still have to read, but reading what is current with the option to drop in more deeply to a feed if I want. If I miss something, so be it. I’ll never consume everything out there and am fine with missing some.

Very disappointed. I downloaded it at the first time and paid a year's fee, but the content of rss cannot be updated in real time, the video click does not respond, and it cannot be played at all. The UI design is even more backward, without the refreshing texture of the old reeder, and there are many useless shadows and borders.

A step backwards. It can’t tell me what articles I’ve read and which I haven’t? Then really what’s the point. Meanwhile, Reeder Classic continues to have a bug that’s existed for years where it shows me the wrong article when I click on something in a feed. I’ve been patient with this for a long, long time, but it doesn’t look like the new Reeder is a suitable replacement.

If all you want is a timeline of intermingled feeds. Originally Reeder allowed each feed to be viewed independently. I prefer that approach because I like scanning articles within a context rather than the firehose of everything all at once. Over time Reeder has shifted to a preference of the timeline view of intermingled feeds. But I could always find a way to view each feed’s timeline in isolation. Recently that has been taken away and there is only the combined feed timeline. Not for me. I’m switching to NetNewsWire. Choices are good and I’m glad we have them.

I’d pay a subscription for Reeder Classic. I’ve purchased every version of Reeder for multiple devices. And I’d gladly continue to support the developer with a subscription, the pricing is fair. But I prefer the old Redder Classic. I don’t care about an unread count but I do want to see what I’ve read or not, that’s much superior to scroll position. And I much prefer the old level of customization. I tried iCloud sync for Reeder Classic but it took up a lot of iCloud storage space. I went back to Feedly; the feeds were better and it saved me gigabytes of storage. So I’m hesitant to go back to iCloud sync. I admire the effort and really wish I liked the new Reeder more. I hope Reeder Classic remains supported but I guess I better look for alternatives. Again, I’d pay a subscription to support its continued development.

Excellent reading experience, but slow. I love this app — the UX is amazing compared to other RSS readers. My only complaint is how slow this app is at retrieving stories. I have 200+ feeds, and it can take over a minute for the app to load new stories — and sometimes it just completely fails. Other RSS apps render almost instantaneously. I won't abandon Reeder yet but I'd love to see improvements in its performance.

Like it more than I thought I would. The adjustment to no unread count was easier than I thought it would be. Smart folders/saved searches would be an amazing addition. Would like to see robust feed management features and support for subscription podcasts.. No regrets subscribing and supporting the developer. Silvio is legendary!

Needs improvements. A pretty redesign of the Reeder app. It is, however, lacking some functionality for me including shortcuts for easier navigation on desktop, an option to mark all as read to easier keep track of what has been consumed, and better and easier organizational options for the sidebar. Still, happy to support the continued development of Reeder, as I have been a supporter for many years.

Disappointed by Subscription Model. I’ve been a long-time user of Reeder and loved it for its simplicity and one-time payment option. Unfortunately, with the switch to a subscription-based model, I’m very disappointed. I cannot afford to keep adding more subscriptions, especially for an app that was once a great one-time purchase. It feels like a cash grab, and I’ll be looking for alternatives. Please consider bringing back the one-time purchase option for those of us who can’t justify another recurring fee.

I like it. I wasn’t sure if I liked the concept of this app since I like to mark things done and make sure I haven’t missed anything. It took me about a day to make the mental transition but I’m really liking it. I’m sure the app will only get better in time too. Timeline sync works very well. A couple of things that could be improved: Refreshing for new content is sometimes inconsistent. It will fetch some stories that seem out of order or should have come through previously. I’m not sure is this is a Reeder issue or the publisher’s posting schedule/RSS feed. Some feeds don’t render well and have to be opened in reader mode or in browser. Dimming articles that have been scrolled past would be a good feature.

Takes some getting used to. Had to update my mental model and expectations. Not having to mark things as read and bringing in my favorite YouTubers has been interesting so far! Willing to support a well considered app. Feature request: custom icons because sometimes RSS has no image.

Great reading app, no unread count saves me. Getting my RSS feed as a stream of content instead of an inbox with read and unread has really made my reading experience so much better. I no longer feel like I am completing a required task; every time I open this app I’m simply looking for great stuff to read.

Almost there. Like some of the other reviewers, I really wanted to like the new Reeder. And I think it’s almost there. I LOVE the ability to have many other feeds collected, however I really need the ability to remove them from my queue, I don’t care about unread counts. If we had that ability this would be a 4 star app, if we had more customization options; 5 stars. Hoping for these improvements.

Hard switch from the old Reeder. I get what they’re trying to do here, make your RSS feeds like a social media timeline. But I’m not sure that translates well to RSS readers. There’s no way to tell what you’ve read and what you haven’t. That’s…confusing to me. It’s weird it keeps the Reeder name, because it doesn’t share much with the now “Classic” version. It’s almost unrecognizable, and the feature set is radically different. I’ll be sticking with the old version for now

Loving Liquid Glass!. Thank you for embracing iOS 26’s design language in the latest release. I have one request: Please add a toggle to move navigation to the bottom of the screen rather than at the top. This will help for reachability. Similar functionality to how Safari or The App Store UI/UX works. Thanks!

These is some kind of BIG change. Ok. That four stars is really for me. The app is completely solid, super fast. Makes me eager to cancel a subscription to a feed service, in fact, it's so fast in syncing with iCloud. It's just great. It's everything I could ask for in a reading multitool... I wish there were keyboard shortcuts for Later and Favorite. I haven't been able to figure that out. And.... Good God do I miss read/unread. This is a massive mental shift and changes the way I interact with my incoming sources. This mentality of just syncing timeline location has been incredibly difficult. I'm far from giving up on it and I subscribed annually right away. But... whew... this is a big ask for a heavy feed reader!

Wrong direction. I write this with nothing but love for this developer. I have bought and used daily every version of Reeder that has ever existed. The opinionated experiments in this new version are thoughtfully implemented, well designed, and well built. But I just deleted the app. This new approach completely breaks 15 years of workflow and muscle memory for me. I will continue using Reeder Classic for as long as it works, and I would even pay good money for a major update to the Reeder Classic approach. But this just isn’t working for me.

I’m falling in love with this app. It took me a few days to get past the differences from Reeder Classic (which I’ve been using for years!) but then it suddenly clicked, not having read/unread states is liberating. I can still “mark something unread” by saving it in Later. Being able to follow different media types and have my own personal internet feed is excellent!

Disappointed. First of all, I'm a long time user of Reeder on all platforms and I LOVED the previous versions of that app. Whenever a new version is coming I buy it without any hesitation to support the great work done by Silvio. Now let's talk about this version. It's missing some core functionalities that have been in all previous versions and that makes it unusable for me. No folders. No ability to mark as read. A layout where each story takes half the screen. Un-u-sa-ble. Fortunately, I can revert to the previous version. I'll come back in 6 months and hopefully the app will be really done by then rather than half baked.

Long time user. The new Reeder app is great, and I appreciate you still supporting the old, now Reeder Classic app. I have purchased every version of Reeder and appreciate all the work put into the app. The only thing I’m hoping you could add is for those of us who don’t care for subscriptions, can you add a lifetime onetime purchase? I’m not trying to be a jerk, but subscription fatigue is real. A lifetime onetime purchase option would make this a 5 star app. Other then that awesome job on the app.

Didn’t get it at first. Had a little discomfort coming from reeder 5 but after spending a few days with it and trying out the various new features it’s grown on me considerably. I’ve fully switched to using it and it’s been fine if not better.

Love the new app!. I am very pleased with the new app. I really like the model of being able to scroll as far as I want, stop, and come back to the same place. One request: I would like to be able to switch it so that the newest articles are at the bottom, instead of the top. Scrolling up is just less natural.

Interesting first draft. Interesting first draft from an app I previously loved. On one hand I like not feeling found to another inbox, but on another hand it feels like another infinitely scrolling list like social media. I wish it had better filters. Also finding the current builds extra slow to sync content and not very good reading experiences on smaller iPads because it doesn’t compress the columns down. Switched to a competitor for now, but will revisit later.

Great for Single Feed Scrolling. This is a very well designed app with great features and a clean interface. The team is always doing amazing work, between this and Mela. I appreciate an optional subscription so I can support the apps development. I will personally stick to Reeder 5, because I like the format of that better than a single feed, but I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to unify their multiple feeds. Great work!

App can be both your doom or your relief. Being an All-In-One app for your most used sources of content (rss,podcast,Mastodon,YouTube,Reddit, BlueSky…), plus your Links/ReadLater hub… Is like putting all your eggs in a single basket. Great for consuming, bad for your time! LoL In a serious note, it’s great. UI is simple and clean. Once it is setup, is a bless! Hope to see more customization related to background colors (I would love white). Keep it up!

Replaced Social Media for me. I’ve gotten off social media platforms but missed the news and updates I could get from those sites. Reeder works like a perfectly tuned social media timeline without all the trappings and algorithms that make social media a major downfall.

Against algorithms. This app enables me to subscribe to my preferred news websites and create a unified feed. This way, I can monitor the news and topics that interest me without relying on an algorithm that decides what I should see and what not. Furthermore, there’s a section that allows me to add links and then check updates from a list, instead of visiting each one individually on my browser. It’s definitely worth paying for this app.

good. I'm a long-time user of Reeder and have paid for every version of the app. I think the new version looks great and is useful, but it's far from perfect. For example, I really need the ability to change the font and adjust the font size, especially on the Mac, where the text is too small! Also, it would be great if the new version could incorporate the features of the old version so I wouldn't have to keep both apps.

Visually appealing but that’s it. The new Reeder app looks nice but misses the functionality of previous versions. As others have pointed out, why get rid of unread counts in favor of continuous scrolling, there are no visual cues as to what has been read making it difficult to figure out where you are in the “timeline”, and the pull past feature has been removed (probably because it means marking an article as read). I really don’t understand the logic behind this new version. I’ve gone all in on Silvio’s apps in the past, I think it’s now time to step away and look to other developers.

Solid reader but needs better customization. I switched from Feedly after a decade of using it, and a few things have made it difficult to adapt. For one, I’d like the option to turn off the excerpts to make scanning my timeline (and saving what I want to read later) faster. Along the same lines, the source appearing above the post title and in the same font slows down information retrieval, too. Below the title, in a smaller and more faded font keeps the emphasis where it belongs. Finally, I’d like a button to clear out the timeline. It makes no sense to have articles I’ve scanned days ago and decided against reading (or saving to read) still lingering in there.

My New RSS Pick. I love this app and I’m excited to see it developed. The user interface is really clean and effective. It’s brand new and I really like the new take on RSS. I wish that there was a de-duplicator feature that would eliminate duplicate articles. I follow multiple NYT feeds and often they post the same article under different feeds. I also think it would be nice to adjust the image that displays for the article. Sometimes the image is large, other times small, and sometimes not at all. I’d love to pick a default size or no image at all. The new sharing gesture is the only other thing I was waiting for. I’m not sure I’ll ever use the feature to share my saved articles via my own personal RSS feed, but I love that I have the option. I hope more people start using this.

Seems like downgrade so far (work in progress?). I am a long-time paid Reeder (Classic) user. The current new generation Reeder (2024) app is a significant downgrade. Neither allows me to re-organize rss feeds readily. I have had to resort to the old tried and true NetNewsWire app to do that, exporting the results each time into Reader (Classic). Though NetNewsWire requires use of an external browser, its flexibility will save me loads of time and hassle. May switch over altogether … function over form. Cancelled my Reeder (2024) subscription.

Beautiful. Reeder is everything I hoped it would be. It took me a minute to get used to the fact that the timeline does actually remember/sync my location regardless of which client I am on. I wouldn’t mind a visual indicator (maybe like bold/unbold or slightly graying out an article after I’ve read it. I love the inbox style viewing. Would be cool to have a counter on app icon to see how many new items I have before opening the app.

Edit Font Size in Timeline. Loved the OG app. Really digging this one. My only feedback is for users to be able to edit the font size of the text in the timeline. I find the text of the font in the timeline to be ginormous and it doesn’t give you the ability to scroll through content quickly. Also, I think this feature was in the OG Reeder? Ty!!

Interesting concept but not sure the use case. I’m an avid Reeder classic user and was very excited to hear there was a new update. My hopes were quickly dashed though. I have a hard time imagining the person that this app is designed for. I love the design language and the look of the app, but I miss the basic functions of Reeder classic. I worry that the focus of the singular developer will be fractured between managing updating two apps and that Reeder classic will suffer.

I want to love it. I want to love it. I'm a long long time Reeder user. I like the pattern of [un]read stories, even though I often just mark a large swath of them as read. But I'd try the new paradigm if and only if I could still organize my feeds into folders for things like News, Tech, Local, etc. If you can ship this feature, I'll resubscribe and give it a real try. Dipping back over to Reeder Classic for now.

Great reading app, needs better filtering support. The app itself is great. It needs way more feed customization. First, feed and filter “unread” settings. Reeder should allow for Feed 1 to be set to “mark as read after 1 day”, while Feed 2 could be set to 3 days. We should also be able to configure the Feeds to show all articles while Filter feeds should be able to “hide” previously read items. Second, it needs the filtering to be much more customizable. I could go on but the short is: copy Feedbin’s filtering capability.

Reeder, Half-Fed. I suspect there’s going to be many critical reviews besides by own. Because the Reeder name was kept we probably expect it to have new features and refinements built upon the established Reeder Classic. However, this feels like a half-baked version. It’s missing all the features I relied on for years. This should’ve been rebranded into a new product called, “Feader”. ** Dec 11, 2024 ** Here’s a novel idea – “Hide items after they’ve been read (pressed on).” It’s been around in Reeder Classic since… forever. I can’t use this app otherwise.

More convenient than before, yet lacking in some ways.. Unlike the original Reeder Classic, it offers more features and is more convenient, but there's a problem. Previously, it filtered unread content and showed how many unread items there were, but that feature no longer exists.

Give it a chance before judging. My initial reaction was negative - the approach of this app is so different from the prior Reeder that it was jarring. It’s designed more like modern social networking apps with a stream rather than individual feeds. After trying it for a couple weeks, I find myself actually preferring this approach. There are some missing features (such as folders - so you can browse one group of feeds at a time), but those will come.

The best in its category (for me). Reeder is an elegant and useful feed reading application that checks almost all of the boxes. However, I do hope the developer continues working on the podcast player side of the app: I wish it supported Car Play, displayed time indicators for individual chapters, and was a bit more responsive when hitting play. Other than those complaints, the app is great. Among this type of utility, it has the best Mac app.

Amazing UX & UI. Wow, in a time when I thought those things didn’t matter, Reeder excels at both, and at a price point that made me pay it immediately, monthly, not even annually to save $2. I’ve been tapping around and swiping, initially enjoying the app with no feeds added yet. I especially love the last right swipe revealing the lightning bolt pattern. Looking forward to using this on iOS and macOS!

A New Approach. When I heard about the changes to the app, I wasn’t sure, but after giving it an honest shot, I’m sold. I love not worrying about if a post is unread or read, the social style feed works so well. The syncing it rock solid and pretty fast, what’s there just works and works well. There are feature missing though that keep me from giving it 5 stars. Thankfully most of the missing features are on the coming soon list. Once I have text options and keyboard shortcuts, this becomes a 5 star review.

Not a replacement for Reeder. I don’t get it.. I was hoping they fixed the crashes in the original Reeder app, which I had to stop using because of frequent hangs and crashes, after being a paid customer for multiple versions. Same name, but totally different product. This is more of a curated news scrolling program, but doesn’t let you mark things as read so it has all the drawbacks of Facebook or whatever. I just want to read my rss feed and see what’s unread. This doesn’t do that. If you could at least see where you read to last and could “save” things you like it would prob be usable but as is I don’t understand it.

I didn't think I would like it. I didn’t think I would like the feed style where you don’t mark items as read, but I’ve grown to prefer it. It’s less stress and work. The only gripes are: I cannot omit Bluesky “reposts/retweets.” I only care about some accounts original content and would like to omit these. Additionally, I’d like keyword omit/ignore features.

Great app for tying it all together. In the old days I used Reeder Classic to keep track of news and updates, but over time everything seemed to migrate to Twitter. Now that Elon ruined Twitter, everyone has scattered to the wind again, and this new Reeder hits everything I need: follow people on Mastodon/fediverse (which means you can follow many people from Threads as well), RSS, Reddit, and so on. And now set filters on all the usual suspects to keep your sanity…

Disappointed (had to subscribe to find out). I’ve been using “the app” for +15 years (iPhone and Mac), paid for every app revision, but never used on the iPad due to so many missing features. Tried yet again on the iPad and it yet again doesn’t meet any of my needs. Please consider adding: mark read while scrolling through the list, gestures for marking all read, and drag to shift to next feed (all things that have been in the iPhone and Mac apps since v2). Note: I don’t mind paying the year subscription even if I’m not going to use it… Happy to support the Rizzi’s next version. Hoping we will be heard.

Best thing for focus and creators! (Clean UI). It’s amazing… to be able to curate your feed for nothing but content that feeds you rather than distracts you is amazing. Its a very clean UI, its snappy, its simple. I hope there will be future features to be able to save more kinds of content, add notes to articles, save highlights from articles, and even be able to add notes or save text.

Love it!. I’ve tried a lot of reader apps. This one works the best for me. I get to decide when I want to read a blog / newsletter / whatever on my schedule, and the app just stays out of my way. And if I don’t get around to reading some stream for several months, I can just decide that’s ok!
