ComicShare - Streaming Reader App Reviews

Great Comic Reader. I’ve used most of the comic readers available, but just recently discovered ComicShare. I think it’s a great reader, and in my opinion, has the potential to be one of the best available. The first thing that stands out is that it does offer streaming (meaning you can read books from your PC or server, etc without having to download them to your iPad). It also has nice filters so that your books looks great when you are reading. There are a ton of options, which can be daunting at first (some of the translated descriptions of what the options do aren’t very clear), but once you experiment with them a bit you can really customize your setup. It also offers customizable tap regions for your screen, so that you can change what taps in certain areas do, and even change the size of the tap regions. There are a couple things that could use a bit of work, which is why I rated four stars. The main one would be that refreshing your folders so that you can see new books you have added to your server does not refresh sub-folders… meaning you have to go in each individual folder and refresh to see new material. This was the biggest problem I had… it would be great if the sub-folders refreshed and if, in fact, the whole thing just auto-refreshed without having to click a refresh button. There are also a couple features I would like to see added: - There is an option to remove the iPad homebar as you read, but it keeps coming back each time you turn a page. Would love it if that could be permanently hidden. - The biggest feature I would like to see added is a tab under “sharing” that will show the most recently added books to your server. There is an option to sort your shared library by date, but if you have things in sub folders, this doesn’t work very well, and it is still hard to locate books you have just added as you have to hunt through sub-directories (I have a sub-folder for each letter of the alphabet). It would be great to see all those new books on one tab. - I don’t use OPDS, but I know a lot of comic reader guys would like to see support for this, ubooquity, etc… This reader is very good… I’m looking forward to seeing how it develops in the future.

Very good experience for comic reading. ComicShare is very powerful in comic reading, and can fit for different types of comics. I like it. The only problem I encountered is when CBZ file containing folders with non-English characters in the folder name, ComicShare cannot recognize them correctly. It should be a problem associated with encoding. I wonder which coding system does ComicShare use when it unzip files? I use utf8 in zipping the files.

Question about WebDAV. It's a great app.

Lost pages. Some rar files can't show the last page when I'm using webdav. Those files are fine. This happens to about 1/3 of my comics.

Good app but very confusing. Finally an app that has smb function for epub files! My only problem is that the settings are too complicated, if you could provide simpler settings for epub light novel book reading please, for example simpler settings for page margins, line height, text alignment ,etc. Try separating the more technical settings under a different category and put the easier to understand settings more accessible. Also can you add the font Vollkorn please, it seems official light novel books use that font. Thank you

divide gif image. I'd like to change the image processing for gif. In the case of the current gif, the image is not divided, and it is seen as a whole. If you want to divide the gif image when it is vertical like jpg.

非常棒的漫画软件，提个小建议. 各方面都非常完美，包括看图，滚屏，分割，pdf优化，多协议挂载。唯一有缺陷的是挂载谷歌盘无法看到团队盘，其他别的软件可以哦，comicshare挂载谷歌盘只能看见自己账号的盘，希望能增加挂载谷歌盘后选择路径的方式，选择个人盘还是团队盘，期待，感谢！

rar5 need to be supported. winrar uses rar5 by default, but the app dose not support :(

Would not login to NAS. I keep all my comics on a Synology NAS on my network. Other apps login with no issues This app never logged in and gave no errors so I have no idea why it did not work. Oh well

Wrong start page. This is a great app. Love the ability to stream through WebDAV. But some comics start in the middle of the book, instead of at the cover page. The cover page is displayed toward the end of the book. And the thumbnail shows the corresponding start page instead of the cover page. Any help from the developer?

It’s good but one thing. There is a jump page in some comics which makes it so confusing and chaos to read a real shortage hope fix it

Best streaming comic viewer. Comicshare is better than comicglass on streaming view.

Hi.. I'm korean user. I want use encoding option "CP949" This is alike EUC-KR. But, EUC-KR crash my folders. Only CP949 is sort my folders appropriately. Please, add CP949 encoding option at FTP Function. Thanks.

Great app please fix image loading with Google Drive. App used to work perfect but for some reason now it won’t load properly on Apple Vision Pro

Great Comic Reader. In my opinion the best comic reader for iPhone. Lots of customization, a bookshelf, can connect to servers such as Google drive, good support if you have any questions or possible bug reports etc... Recommended

Is it possible to lock landscape/portrait mode in the app?. I personally prefer to use portrait mode for mangas, and I often use iPad on my bed, so I have to lock the rotation. But then I need to unlock it again when I watch videos and then lock again... It would be convenient to provide the option. Besides this, this is the best manga app I have tried, it is especially good if you use SMB/FTP NAS to store the mangas.

或许看漫画不错，但是读书真的不行. 被别人安利来的。功能很强大，但是UI实在太落后了，对非漫画类的epub文件阅读体验实在很一般。中间那个大大的关闭真的非常出戏。

Perfect!. I have all my comics on a raspberry pi powered smb shared folder. This app works flawlessly to browse and view everything. From finding the file I want to opening it takes seconds. Love it!

The best comic book app. This is the best comic book app, at least on the iPad pro. You can import from smb shares directly, cloud storage or use wifi to transfer. The app displays comic books just fine for cbz formats. It's quick and no nonsense. I took a star away, since it takes a little bit of effort to understand how to use it, but it is, at least for me, a fully featured app that ticks all the right boxes.

SFTP & SCP does not seem to work.. I tried to connect my NAS via SFTP. It kept notifying "network timeout". I am pretty sure that my server has been properly setup as I can get access to it from any other client except this app. Hope there can be a solution or I can get a refund.

SMB problem. I cannot connect to my laptop by SMB protocol In the latest version anymore.

If you are looking to stream from NAS - this is it!. Did a lot of research and not many comic apps can stream comics from your NAS...nearly all of them will download it in some form or another to your iPad. A subset of those other apps also require additional NAS software set up to enable obtaining content to the app. I tried however it was too confusing for me. Then i found this app from a google search. AWESOME!!!! This app works flawlessly and has a ton of features under the hood (I was actually shocked at how much you can tweak the various settings). Additionally, this app gets updated frequently compared to others...some of the others haven’t been updated in years. So if you are on the fence about paying for the app...trust me, it is worth it and solved a whole lot of frustration / time searching. Great job and I look forward to future releases!!
