Auto delete, c’mon fellas. Here’s the thing: Auto delete might not be a 100% reliable (/ safe) feature, but not being able to delete messages is certainly 100% unsafe. Inform your users by a disclaimer and go on with it, not hide behind this silly pretense and cause negative reviews by people that either think they know better or are frustrated about messages that are forever saved on someone else’s phone. Just saw your app featured on The Terminal List, so much potential stopped short.

App keeps getting better. The last few updates have made it even better. Please add stickers though. It’s the only feature I and my family still want from WhatsApp. Thank you

Good but no “edit message” function. This could be the perfect secure messaging app if it were “fat-fingered perfectionist”-proof :D, as having to copy, delete, paste, edit, then resend just to “edit” a single sent message is so much hassle compared to just hitting an edit-button. For now I and my similarly fat-fingered perfectionist friends will be begrudgingly sticking with the less secure alternatives for now. If this is ever implemented, I will start recommending Threema, as otherwise the UX feels solid, better than Wire’s and even Signal’s. By the way, if the concern is with potentially allowing people to edit maliciously, maybe a mutual-consent-based “Allow editing of sent messages in chats” switch is an appropriate solution. Or perhaps just an “Edit history” list.

Lack of Phone Support & No Detailed Instructions re Use. The Threema App maybe superior and it may offer unique features that other Apps don’t offer. Yet, as a non-IT person, the ability to get the appropriate functions working without more comprehensive support or written instructions is a significant short coming. Chats are available but to get the benefits up and working appear to be a major effort. Inquiries were made to Threema regarding the availability of written instructional materials; it appears they are not available.

Usability got worse. Newer versions no longer allow to transfer data to another phone. I had ‘ID EXPORT’ enabled from previous phone switch which was a few years back. Obviously, the password is forgotten. After synching the phone to new iPhone I cannot remember the password. Exporting the ID into iCloud backup means, I need to restore it again (a couple hours of work). Super sad and bad usability.

Amazing! Would love updates. Been using threema for some time now and it is a great anonymous app and amazing privacy! I would love it & think it could be beneficial if they added an update where if you send a sticker it doesn’t automatically send to the chat as soon as u press it from your keyboard but rather an update where it puts the sticker in your text bubble before you press send so that you can maybe add more stickers, emoji, or text etc. or even change the sticker your sending so that stickers are not ONLY able to be sent as large stickers singularly and separately. Bringing Imessage features more to the app , not even Instagram has this feature in their keyboard, this would separate threema from as a messaging app from the others on another level!

Possibly more functions in the future?. The app itself is great. I love it and haven’t had any issues. , but I’m wondering if down the line more privacy features would be added. For instance, a function to not allow screenshots or maybe possibly disappearing text set by the user? It would be nice to have these features implemented.

Solid and safe, bud so buggy and subpar interface. This app overall isn’t terrible, but it is so buggy whenever I’m messaging anyone. Also the interface is weird and not placed weird. For example I’m constantly hitting the record button on keyboard while typing, but I have small fingers and it doesn’t happen texting on any other app or messaging. Anyway, it’s secure and it does what it has to do, that’s the only reason I’m not upset I spent money on this app.

This App Is Designed To Alienate You. Maybe there’s some brilliant back-end encryption (though do some searching about that and come to your own conclusions), but the app seems positively designed to make you throw your phone across the room. From the new messages being pushed as software updates *that you can’t turn off* - the button for turning off announcements is ineffective - to the giant green blob concealing the text window the first time you try to use the thing, to the bizarre and completely inexplicable ritual of what seems like making some sort of passcode but isn’t, everything about this thing screams “we, the engineers, hate you and want you to suffer”.

Cannot send videos. I’ve had the new IPhone 16 pro max for weeks now, and I have never been able to send a video on it. Worked fine on my IPhone 13. Now whenever I try to send a video whether I take the video in Threema, or on my phones camera app, I get an error saying “could not load the video, please restart the app and try again”. I have closed it and reopened, restarted my phone, even deleted Threema and re-installed it.

Now has private investors. Can be compromised.. It's getting worse at sending messages in a timely manner. I hate WhatsApp, and I mean hate it. But it works consistently. NEVER an issue with WhatsApp. Threema, every freaking day. I'm starting to take it personally. We pay for this, and it holds up my messages, delivers them out of sequence or doesn't deliver them at all.

Excellent call quality and stability. Highly recommended!!!. We are calling half away around the world with very limited internet connection speeds, I mean very limited. We are amazed each time how clear and immediate the conversation can be. The stability is outstanding as well, calls are only dropped if I accidentally touch the wrong button!

Thank you Threema - you saved Slovakia. Your app revelaed the biggest political scandal in the Slovak Republic history. All you need is to break inside (it took police some months to do it - you might work on more secure standards) of one of the biggest influential oligarchs who used it for long time. Now all Slovakia could read the messages and reveal the biggest political and economical thefts made by politicians, oligarchs, mobs. So big thank you for liberating our country. (all in the news last two weeks)

Best Secure Messaging App!!. I love great security! I love Threema’s commitment to a very secure experience! My only bummer is that here in the USA, I rarely run in to anyone that has heard of Threema and even fewer who use it. Most everyone I know of uses Apple Messages and are so committed to that service.

Nice but could add a couple of privacy features.. Message deletion for all parties as well as timed deletion options like signal. Also the desktop app is mostly useless because it requires your phone to be unlocked and the app open on the phone while using on your PC. Perhaps the devs can make some enhancements and make the app better.

Great at security, mostly great at the rest. This looks like a messaging app written by people who take security seriously. Well done. I’m only taking off one star because the onboarding process was a mess. At one point, you’re asked to enter a password, and again to verify it. That’s all fine, but the password fields are so far down the page that the on-screen keyboard completely covers the second one — and the page doesn’t allow scrolling vertically! Eventually I discovered a workaround (tap Passwords, then Cancel, then tap the second password field, then blindly type your password on the keyboard that appears). But this is really something that should have been caught in testing. This makes it impossible (AFAICT) to paste a password from the clipboard, which discourages the use of strong passwords from a password manager. And that’s not good for security. Aside from that one major inconvenience, though, this looks like a great app.

This App is Great but.... I am experiencing a bad experience when trying to send some pictures in this app. It get to long to sending, and mostly it failed, because i can not wait the pictures loading before close this app and move to another things i need to do on my phone. Please do something. I never tried video, but if pictures get that long, wondering how long the video will take

Great but behind on features. This app is great for secure messaging and anonymity. I wish this app used a in-app purchase model so it could be downloaded for free to increase the user base. They could then charge an in-app purchase for features like voice calling, group chat, or other features that could be limited but allow for basic secure messaging for new users. However, for being a paid app, it seems to lag in features compared to competing products. I hope they add or fix some of these items: - Perfect Forward Secrecy on the end to end layer - self destructing and deleting messages - video calling - allow the user to do other messaging while a call is in progress.

ORIGINALLY absolutely loved the app. Used this app for years, recommended to numerous friends, family. It was a way for me to keep my family (texts/photos) separate from my work. I got a new phone, I had my backup turned on, erased my old phone, and poof. When to log in on my new phone and I couldn’t…..my email and phone # didn’t exist. Why? Because you must create a backup and ID with them, and then download from them after. I lost years and years of so much information that I really made sure to keep. So disappointed.

It’s full of bugs - can I trust the privacy?. If the user experience is any indication of what’s going on behind the scenes, then it’s hard to trust this app. Calls routinely drop with no explanation, the app randomly scrolls to much earlier dates while the scroll to latest button doesn’t function. Generally, you don’t get the feeling you’re using something solidly built. It feels more like a prototype, which for me, casts doubt on the privacy features themselves. I wish they’d focus on the UX a bit more and make it friendlier and more polished.

Great app, but some slight issues.. Is it normal on iOS when recording a voice message, for voiceover iOS is built-in screen reader, to switch to the earpiece? I ask, because it makes it almost impossible to here, and determine where they stop/send button is, also the problem there, if you put the phone too close to your ear, the screenshots off. I'm running iOS 15.0.1.

Great product but…. Due to the nature of the beast there are sometimes delays in messages getting through. Again, goes with the territory of encryption and servers being used. Their customer service is wonderful and very prompt. Great product that, just like everything else, can use some tweaks here and there.

Best app in the entire App Store. No need to give your phone number out to anyone. THREEMA gives you an ID which you use instead of your phone number. No other secure messaging application allows you to protect your phone number in this way. Also, because you pay for THREEMA you know exactly why they’re doing what they’re doing. For money from you. You’re paying and this your data isn’t the price. I’ve been with THREEMA since the start and their developers come with constant improvements and updates. I love this app because it means freedom.

For the love of god fix voice messages!!!. I love how I can record messages with my airpods and put my phone in my pocket while continuing to record. But it does happen from time to time thst rhe recording stops suddenly. Or it doesn’t remember the recording and gives an error message and then it disappears. This is so frustrating, especially when you do longer messages. Please finally fix this!

Threema secure app. I like this secure app. It has many features and the customer service dept. is very quick to respond and help. I recommend this for anyone needed in a truly secure messaging, texting, etc. app.

1 thing missing…... SELF DESTRUCTIVE MESSAGES IS A MUST. Other than that the app still deserves five stars because it is by in large the most trustworthy secure messaging app. Signal makes you linke phone number, Not Threema! You can use it totally anonymously. Clear pay for play profit motive. Still deserves 5 stars but please integrate Self destructive messages!

Compelled to give 5-stars!. Over the last couple of years, I’ve watched Threema become a really mature, security-focused messaging app. A lot of the features previously missing (ability to edit messages, disappearing messages) have been added in and work great. Lots of reviews from years past talking about various bugs and glitches seem to be resolved. This is now the “go to security app” for myself, and my company. Keep up the good work!!

Great app but it needs improvements.. I love the app and the idea of the ID and no contact & email sync but it needs a few features. 1. Expiring photo option (view once or forever). 2. Messages time duration (1hr, 1 day, 1 week etc). Other than those, it’s all good.

Delete button not working. iPad - DELETE button is not working after “long hold” on the message & the options pop up. It works on iPhone. You have to “Select” & click the left circle to delete.

Not impressed. While threema works overall, I’m less than impressed with the audio overrides and the disconnects. If I’m on a call and play a video, the call will completely disconnect. If I’m playing music and merely open the app, it will kill my audio for about 5 seconds, and then artificially lower the volume. Drives me bonkers. I’m constantly having to go into my settings and revoke (or grant) permission to the microphone depending on what-else I’m doing. Very annoying and detracts from the usefulness of the app itself. I’ve contacted support and the only thing they could tell me was to upgrade to the newest version of it. I’m already running the newest version. It’s the only message app that has been incapable of handling audio in a competent way. Very disappointing to say the least.

Amazing app, lacks group perms. For just about anything I recommend this app to the fullest and was worth every penny. However I wish that when I made a group chat with friends I could choose who mod/admins the group-chat. Other than that perfect app

Would be of been great. This app still need more option in their messaging system. Disappearing time need to be added in for safety reason. You don’t want someone phone to fall in someone else hands and have all old message read. Very scary situation for user. Also id need to be hidden better. Everyone shouldn’t be able to see your personal id in group. If they fix these problem this app would of been great

Awesome messenger. Couple of touches are missing, such as video call support and if developer can enable sent message edit function for short period of time i.e you can edit your sent message within first 20 seconds, then would be awesome. Another thing, instead of tap and select, slide right/left would be much easier.

Great app but. . .. I never had an issue sharing pics and video clips with this app, but after updating to iOS 18 and getting an iPhone 16 pro, I can only send pictures. No matter how short the video clip is, I get an error message asking me to restart the app. I hope the developer fixes this.

New logo. Only thing I’d change is the icon. If your using this app and don’t want people to realize it’s a messaging app it’s kind of hard. The picture logo is literally a message bubble with a lock in it, which is pretty suspicious. Other than that I think it’s great.

Well executed but missing some features. On the security side the application is very well executed. On the messaging side there are a few features that would be desirable to have; The ability to quote a picture. Read receipts on messages in group chats (who in the group has seen your message).

Absolutely great app. This app is great. It really proved itself to me when I stayed at a rental with restricted internet that disallowed photos from being sent over messenger. Their nosy internet settings couldn’t detect that I was sending photos with Threema. If you could add cropping to the in app camera (and other editing tools) that would be really useful.

Not able to make calls after update. After updating, the app is no longer functioning for phone calls in China. I'm uncertain whether this is due to government restrictions or if the app has encountered bugs.

Stellar Messaging App!. App has been great for my family and I. We’ve all switched over to messaging, video calls etc, via Threema. However, like with any app, some shortcomings. For example, on iPhone 14 Pro Max the text input bar is pretty narrow. Makes it difficult to tap on it to begin messaging. Another issue is when accidentally recording a voice message there isn’t an actual cancel button, so you will record until you click stop then you have to click off that main window in order to get a notification box requesting deletion. Some minor nuisances however this review is constructive criticism I guess. Keep up the great work!

An inconvenient communication app. Such an inconvenient communication app for voice-messages. It doesn’t support running in iOS-background, which means it can’t automatically download voice-messages or images you received. Every time you get a incoming-voice notification, you have to open this app and tap the voice-message you received and wait for a long while to download it. If you don’t live in Europe, I strongly suggest you not to using it, because downloading voices-messages from Threema’s sever takes really long time. Not even to mention that if you receive more than one voice-messages, you have to tap them each one by one to download, waiting and waiting for these downloading processes. Too annoying!! What an era do we live in? Almost every communication app is now having this feature downloading media automatically.

Best messaging app for security. If you want a pretty messenger, stick with the Messages app, Facebook, or maybe Signal - they’re all “secure”. If you want a secure messenger, get Threema. It sends messages securely from device to device, not user to user, so you need to think a bit differently about using it, but that difference in thinking is “this message is encrypted on my device and sent to that other device, which I’ve confirmed is the correct device by scanning its barcode”. This is handy (and one of my main uses) because you know that your snarky comment isn’t going to show up on your wife’s computer as she’s projecting her screen in the conference room at work. True device to device encryption, plus the company’s location in Switzerland with physical control over its servers, combines to make this a very secure messaging app. Even if you’re just using it to send snarky notes about employers, it’s worth the price.

One Of The Best!!!. All around and amazing app well put together love the security and privacy and you guys really did your work on this one. I recommend it to all my friends, my family and as many people as I can possible it’s that good of an app. Also I’m working on a app, would you guys be willing to donate any amount helps. Must Have. Well worth the one time charge. Fast, secure, private and real easy to use. My whole family have switched to Threema. I have used most of the other so-called secure messaging apps and they are far from secure and in the habit of snooping for and repurposing metadata, not Threema. Get it and you’ll be happy.

Love Threema but,. I’m giving Threema 5 STARS after it becomes open source but, what’s the point of all these features that added recently and Threema still blocked in many countries, what’s the point if I can’t call, text or send photos to anyone in my list. they can’t use Threema without a VPN 90% of my friends switched to another IM app because it’s available in their country’s that’s why Threema is not popular so until you find a way to use it without a VPN then we can enjoy all features otherwise it’s useless.

easily doable features needed. We need to be able to delete messages from all devices similar to the app session. I’ve been sending all my friends $5 to convince them to join this app, I know it’s not much but I’ve bought about 8 accounts for people and that’s my only major complaint and why I still prefer session. If you can fix this I will be using this exclusively as will many people following me to the app.

Good, but buggy. Has a lot of good features, and works a majority of the time, but has quite a bit of bugs. One of the bugs it has is that sometimes, during a video call, I begin to hear an echo of my voice. Once I end the call and reestablish a new connection, the echo goes away. Another issue just arose when I got 16.2, which is I won’t be able to hear the person I’m having a video chat with through speaker, but shutting the app down helps. Also has other bugs such as not given the option to use the camera unless I hold down on the users name from the contact list which will then give me the option to take a photo. There are a few more, but I could be here for a while. Just hoping some of these things can get resolved because they are quite annoying. That said, good app overall.

Good, smooth UI, missing a few things. Liked the app. Since I’m coming from FaceTime and WhatsApp, missing the picture-in-picture mode, screen sharing option and the ability to choose default notification sounds for calls and messages. Hope they get added soon. So far, good work guys.

the best no question about that.. first rule: you get what you pay..so if its free its crap or screwed you by the T&C. i like to see more support for the apple watch so that u can actually write a new message without the use of an notification of an unreaded message by the phone from the watch.

Needs delete for everyone option & viewed option for received messages. I like Threema but was horrified to discover that one cannot delete messages for everyone. I did not realize that all messages would remain on the receiver’s phone. I get confused on Threema when I have listened to an audio message because there is no indication that I have already listened to it. A check or something would be nice. If there are many audio messages and one gets interrupted, then it is unclear where to start relistening again. I do not like the red while recording messages, it is very distracting to the eye. I would prefer a milder color. I also like that in WhatsApp I can type a reply in the reply box while listening to a message but that does not work in Threema. Otherwise, I like the clean design of Threema and the privacy.

Good app, but hide stale contacts is the dumbest feature I have seen in a while. This is a very nice messaging app with excellent privacy features, but the feature to „inactivate“ and hide contacts that have not been on there is really the dumbest thing I’ve seen in a while, and I doubt it’s tested with users. From my perspective: 1) It will certainly hurt uptake of the app: Most people who decide on whether or not to use the app will check how many people are on there. Seeing only a few contacts will discourage them. See network effect. 2) Having „(inactive)“ display next to your name for 24 hours after you started using the app again just feels plain weird in an app that is boasting it’s privacy features. Who says I‘m inactive? And why doesn’t the very action of sending a message determine activity? Also, having to chat with „inactive“ contacts with the constant reminder that they are deemed inactive (it shows in the chat and in notifications) is an unpleasant experience.

Everyone should be using this. East to use, perfect UI and totally secure

Can’t edit or delete for all. Great principles this app but very inflexible - can’t edit messages or delete for all. Also no Mac desktop version. Will keep using unencrypted alternative for now and watch to see if this app improves.

3MA. Toughest encrypted app ever made FREE THE 3’S…

Usabilty average. There is still no high-res support for the latest ipad even after the most recent update. Disappointing. Until this is fixed it's unusable for me. Two stars.

Auto Delete. The app needs auto delete, it does not have this function this its downfall.

Recently stopped working. I’ve been using this App for many years without any problem but recently it stopped working properly. Messages don’t send and receive. Have contacted support but they keep saying it’s at my end despite the same problem happening to me and the other users in my group. Not I’m looking for an alternative App.

Not bad but no Burn on Read timer!. It’s not a bad app but in the scheme of things is really no better than any other encryption messaging app. The biggest downfall of Threema is the lack of ability to have messages deleted on both ends either upon reading or after a set time eg; 5mins, 30mins etc. it lacks the privacy users are wanting in an encryption messaging app.

Well maintained and secure. I’ve been using Threema for over five years. It’s constantly improved, secure and has a great feature set. I’ve never had it crash. Paying for it is a great, sustainable idea. I recommend anyone serious about privacy consider using Threema.

Great app, but has problems now. I have used the app for 4 years. Has always been the got to app for myself and friends for private messaging. Since the last update though, messages are not uploading properly for any of us. Often we when we see each, we complain that the other hasn’t responded. In actual fact, out messages sometimes don’t load onto the server from our phone. Apart from that, very happy with it.

Secure but laggy. Secure app, but very laggy, can take up to 5 min for a message I have sent to even pop up, I haven’t been able to send a photo easily without sending it 20 times with it saying try again every time so forget about videos, I think signal is the go tbh

Not a wallpaper or background pattern fan. Least attractive update ever. Is there an option to cancel _all_ wallpapers as well, so I don‘t have to produce a plain white screenshot anymore to get rid of irritating patterns and other wallpapers?

Love it 👍. The app takes privacy to the next level and then some. Unlike Telegram and Signal you don’t have to provide a phone number (or even an email address) although you could for convenience. Call quality is great and texting works flawlessly. Well worth the small one-time investment.

The best chat app. This app is the best chat app for encryption & offers the same plus more options than any chat app it is beyond a 5 star rating in my opinion. It only has no option to hide or unhide active status which I feel for privacy reasons is good plus if trust 100 than I feel its a no need to know option. Wish I found this app long ago 👍👍👍

Great end-to-end encrypted chat app. This app has 1-1 chat, group chat, calls and video calls. Everything is end-to-end encrypted and app is from a Swiss company with servers in Switzerland. App is open source and audited to guarantee privacy is as advertised. Best thing is that the identifier is not your phone number or email address.

Enjoying the app so far!. The only thing I’d like to see is more sound choices for messages; I think a greater selection would be nice or maybe even the possibility to choose a tone that you have on your phone. I like the sound selection for calls though, they all sound pretty neat — maybe some similar tones in a shorter sequence could be made for messages? Overall though, it’s been a pleasant app to use thus far.

Can we get GIFs please?. Threema is a great very reliable messenger that finally respects the privatsphere of Personal messaging. However, even after years into the business, and especially not at the current run for WhatsApp alternatives, people are missing some toys. Since I also on signal, I fell that chats there are much more fun just because of the use of GIFs. It would be great to see a GIF library integrate to Threema, too.

Best messaging app. Was initially apprehensive, but really glad we chose Threema! This is the best messaging app I have used and on top of it has real security features. Well worth the one time cost. That small payment got rid of all kinds of spam, noise and unwanted connections on Telegram/Whatsapp. Very nice feature that it is not necessary to use your phone number or even an email in order to sign up. Very very happy with this app!

Uploading video. In the last week with the IOS upgrade, taking a video and sending isn’t working. Please be aware of the need to correct this.

Dark mode.. Please bring back the possibility to select dark mode (or other king of appearance change) inside the app (user can override the systemwide settings) to have the possibility to distinguish threema from other texting app.

Superb app and excellent support. 10 stars. I’ve used threema for eight years. It is a superb app and head and shoulders above any competing product. A serious app with serious functionality and true security. It is not necessary to reveal either email or telephone number (although you can optionally). Allows voice calls too, works well for overseas calls. Support is best in the business. One of the very best apps I’ve ever used.

4.2 Spanish Glitch. 50% of the app text is now in Spanish, yet I am French and my device is set to French! Had to downgrade to 4.1.3 for a bug-free experience. AVOID 4.2 Edit : 4.2.1 working fantastically well. I recommend updating to this version. 5 Stars.

I love it but no notifications for messages after turning my phone back on everytime for 4.2.3. The older version would notify you of messages as soon as you turn on your phone. On the latest version of Threema (which I got this year), if my phone is turned off and someone sends me a message, I don’t get any notifications at all even when my phone is turned back on already. I flew to Europe so I turned my phone off during the flight. My friend sent me a message while my phone was turned off. After landing in the airport, I turned my phone on. I got notifications for my emails and texts, etc right away with no issues. But Threema never gave me a notification for the messages that I received during the roughly 10 hours that my phone was turned off. Also, my friend said that she only saw the envelope picture next to the message that she sent me which meant that it was only sent to the server so she thought I blocked her too LOL The same thing happens everytime my phone has no battery and loses power. As soon as I turn my phone back on, no notification for messages. I love Threema but how do I fix this issue? I would like to be notified for messages sent to me while my phone is turned off, even without opening the app, as soon as I turn my phone back on again. The older version used to do this. Thank you.

Meh. Mediocre messaging app. It crashes quite a bit then when the prompt to send report pops up it disappears before I can hit submit. Sometimes messages get stuck as undelivered for some time. Cannot receive phone call while on a call in this app or the app call drops. On occasion when answering a call one or the other persons can hear but can’t be heard. Have to hang up and call back. When on a video call one or the other person can’t hear or be heard by the other person. Have to hang up and call back. When an alarm goes off while In a call the call drops. Keyboard disappears randomly. Have to close app and open again to get it to reappear. Options at the top to open media, contact picture and call button disappear randomly. Have to close app and open again. I don’t think a day has gone by without some kind of bug but it’s better than WhatsApp and all those other privacy compromising messaging apps

Forget the “free” apps - nothing is free. If you don’t pay $$, then you pay with your data. Threema is the exact opposite - you pay a few bucks and get top class security on your data!

Too many BUGS 🐞. It’s good in general but lately many bugs running around and after the latest IOS update no sound for incoming messages. Plz fix it and remove the bugs , I’m just waiting for an update for threema !

Call Interface Design. Every time I make a phone call, it touches my ear and turn on the camera and speakerphone. It should be designed so that it detects the ear and cancels any touch interface like the normal iphone calls.

Nice App, but need emoticon support to text messages. The app is nice and secure but I find it difficult to react to people’s messages. I do not like to use the quote because it takes up to much space. Use something similar to Apple when reacting to a message. If everybody reacts to a message it takes up too much space on your display!

down for the whole day. been using this app almost 6 months now. A good and bad experience. Threema is down today can’t make a call the whole day or accepting calls either. I needed to make calls every hour to out of country relying this app and totally useless.? hope they fix it now

Message Retract. You should be able to retract your messages and it doesn’t have this feature. Or Message expiration where messages get completely dusted after certain amount of time

Threema stoped notifying !!!. Its been over two months now that Threema has stopped working with the notifications! I have turned off/on my phone multiple times, and the app is up to date on the app store😡. This is very annoying given that i paid money for this app

Not opening - you ever going to fix this???. The app isn’t opening when I click on it. I checked if it needed an upgrade and it did but it’s still not opening when a message comes through. I have to open and close the app like 3 times before it will open the text so I can respond.

Web Client. Threema says that due to Ios/Macos limits Web client can only be used with iOS app running on background. I wonder how Whatsapp can overcome this but Threema can’t.

Video messaging can’t compete with Marco Polo. I convinced my dating partner to give this app a try for video messaging instead of using Marco Polo. 5 of the first 7 messages she recorded couldn’t be processed and were deleted. She’s given up and the $5 I paid for her app are now up in 🔥s. Please do better.

New logo. Only thing I’d change is the icon. If your using this app and don’t want people to realize it’s a messaging app it’s kind of hard. The picture logo is literally a message bubble with a lock in it, which is pretty suspicious. Other than that I think it’s great.

Good privacy but quite some deficiencies. It works and is a good alternative to data consuming messaging apps. I don’t find it that reliable, especially the desktop version.

Was Better before recent updates. Voice messages in the text box are buggy and was much better when it wasn’t part of the type text box

Needs to be fixed since last update. Ever since the last update the voice message recording has a bug. It records super silently and you have to pretty much hold the speaker right to your ear to be able to understand. Even if the volume is all the way up. Please fix that issue! It's very annoying!

Happy user. I'm very happy with the threema app which I use to keep up with family members. My only disappointment is that I cannot join in on the group chats using an iPhone. Is there a projected date for adding capability for group chat with iPhone?

Needs option for disappearing messages. Nearly perfect, but I hope they can include an option for disappearing messages in the near future, like signal does.

Password. I don’t understand why in an upgrade some time ago they took away the letters under the numbers (as on a telephone) and never put them back. For me this makes it harder to use because I remember letters more easily than numbers, hence I have to look up my password, hence I use less.

Review. Messaging works great, my only complaint is that if I do an audio call, half through it loses connection. This has happened numerous times so I only use Threema for the messaging part now.

Calls disconnect regularly. The call function is still very buggy. To date, I have been unable to complete more than a 15-30 second call without the app disconnecting. It also takes up to 2 minutes at spook up to ‘initialize’. If the security is a robust ad claimed, perhaps the calling and video technology will catch up? As a paid app, albeit no,I al, the ‘freebies’ are still much better. Help!

lost everything. have used this for 6 years. suddenly started not connecting every afternoon for several hours. ultimately had to delete app and redownload. app failed to import my backup safe or even my ID. had to start over completely from scratch with a new ID and lost all my previous chats. customer service’s response along the way: “contact Apple App store.”

Decent but still flawed. It serves it’s purpose, but is still flawed. Some messages do not go through timely (especially if media is involved). Calling rarely works. The few times that it does - reception is patchy at best. As a plain, secure messaging platform with no frills- it’s adequate.

Threema secure app. I like this secure app. It has many features and the customer service dept. is very quick to respond and help. I recommend this for anyone needed in a truly secure messaging, texting, etc. app.

Satisfied. My only complaint is that I wish the icon gave the red notification reminder like messenger, email, etc. Sometimes I am busy when I hear the tone so it would be nice to see the red reminder on the icon.

Screenshots. For added security I would recommend being unable to screenshot messages like Confide. I love Threema. Keep up the great work.

Not able to make calls after update. After updating, the app is no longer functioning for phone calls in China. I'm uncertain whether this is due to government restrictions or if the app has encountered bugs.

Good, but needs work.. This is a solid, secure messaging app and I enjoy using it. Though, there are a few features I feel need to be seriously reconsidered, or perhaps even removed. 1. The ability to export an entire conversation Into a zip file without the secondary users consent 2. The inability to block users Other than that, this is a pretty solid app. In the future however, I would also recommend adding group administration options.

It’s whatever.. Found two typos when signing up… here is what I found… errors in quotations. Do you want to continue without enabling Threema Safe? When using Threema Safe “YOUR” can restore your Threema ID, contacts “,and” groups in case you “LOOSE” access to your device.

Switzerland is pushing a new surveillance ordinance that would force VPN, email, and messaging providers to verify user identities, log metadata for six months, and decrypt any data they control on demand. Privacy-focused firms warn this could end anonymous use of Swiss services and make Switzerland's surveillance powers even tougher than those in the US. This includes proton mail and Threema etc. AVOID all Swiss services from this point forward.

Best secure messaging. The only one I know that doesn’t require linking to absolutely ID you for the surveillance state.

Preferred secure messenger. Really needs more reactions options. The ability to “like” or HEART a message would be greatly appreciated. This feature is used by empaths on other platforms extensively. A thumbs up doesn’t cut it.

Calling works off and on. Having some issues with calling to another threema user it will ring sit on connecting and then disconnect. Work fine a couple times and had just stopped.

Alright app. Cool interface, and solid security protection from remote devices accessing information. I would recommend that they create a burn on read feature similar to wickr that deletes messages as they are read. Good protection unless someone has access to your physical device.

Threema can’t find my backup. I upgraded my phone and was unable to restore my credentials, even though I had them backed up to the Threema Server some time ago. I even carefully had store my backup password. I lost all the documents that my family had sent me and all their communications - very upset and deleted the app forever.
