The Dallas Morning News Comments & Reviews 2026
Recent problems. Recently a couple of problems have appeared in the app. Often, when I swipe to the next page, the page will be in low resolution, and the text becomes very grainy when expanded to a readable size. Usually leaving the page and coming back to it corrects the problem. The second problem is that it has become more difficult to access the option to move to another section. The bar at the bottom of the page disappears when an article is expanded for reading, but does not reappear when the page is contracted. I hope these minor issues can soon be corrected. The epaper format is much better than a list of headlines would be.
Update of app. The new update on the app is horrible. Most of the page is covered with banners. The top banner is there with “the Dallas Morning News” like it has to remind me which newspaper I’m reading. Then the next banner is a space for ads that blink the whole time and change. The bottom banner is for navigation. In the past this banner was hidden when reading the paper and would pop up if needed. All of this leaves very little room for seeing the paper. Very unhappy with the update.
This app is broken.. The app is so bad it’s going to make me cancel my subscription. Links within articles do not work properly. Clicking a link within an article on the app should open/reference another page in the actual app! Instead, it opens a web view and forces you to login again. Entering any data into a clickable chart crashes the app. Search is absolutely worthless. Links from Twitter or other social media do not open the app automatically.
New E-News is Not User-Friendly. I hope that this review is actually captured and submitted after writing it. The new e-newspaper format is not working as simply as the previous format - links do not connect (e.g. printing an article or crossword puzzle, emailing an article, etc.). The internet format and reading format do not sync well, and I’m often kicked out of the edition that I’m reading and have to start over again. What was the News trying to accomplish with this new format? It’s almost to the point that we are seriously considering cancelling the DMN e-paper which is a shame, because we do like receiving daily news, sports, and entertainment, IF we can access it.
Don’t buy this. It doesn’t work. I had this unbelievable subscription price for the DMN through iTunes for several years. Almost every time my subscription automatically renewed I could no longer get access. Don’t bother calling the DMN for this issue. They always point back to iTunes as 3rd party and it’s iTunes fault so deal with them. After more than an hour online with apple support the very nice tech did everything he could to get my access restored to no avail. He sent me back to DMN even though I assured him they would send me back to Apple. I cannot tell you how many customer service reps and supervisors I talked to at DMN mostly because they put me on hold only for my call to be dropped and I had to call back and go through the hassle again. The iTunes deal looks like a good deal and all warm and fuzzy with DMN but the customer service reps at DMN won’t help you and will only sell you their current deal which amounts to more than 4 times the iTunes deal per year for the ePaper only. I wish the iTunes deal would work but it no longer does. I am not complaining about the apple rep who did everything possible to get my subscription to work to no avail. I am complaining about the agreement between iTunes and the DMN who will not recognize the commitment they made.
Some improvements. Way too much space devoted to banners and menu bars that should duck away when not needed. Better than when it debuted a few weeks ago, though. And it did away with the frustrating feature of the old app’s behavior of returning from article view by going to the first page of the article instead of the page from which you launched article view. Still too much or a hair trigger to switch to article view.
DMN - May 12, 2026 Update. HATS OFF to the guys that put together the updates that came in yesterday for the DMN app. Nice job. Addresses almost every issue in my posts on Apr 3 and Apr 10. Still see a few bug fixes missing. Otherwise, it’s finally getting back to the DYNAMITE app that got destroyed with the Apr 1 update
Great paper, great app. Local news is so vital, and this paper has more than paid for itself! Definitely recommend a subscription if you live in Texas, they’ve had some great coverage and reporting that I’m always sharing with people and telling them they need a subscription! :) but local elections, during the COVID crisis, changes to schools, laws/changes, news that isn’t reported other places and if it is it’s not from a local perspective. Like when giving Ice more funding was up for a vote, I wanted to know about it! Newest lawsuit from Paxton, Texas summer camps not getting approved. Local news is vital to democracy, if you don’t know what’s going on, then you won’t be ready when say, you get the email your local elementary school is closing and you want to know why and what happened in an unbiased way that isn’t left or right but facts. Like did you know it’s being worked on so there’s Bible verses in the new Blue Bonnet curriculum for schools for Texas? There’s an article about that, multiple. You can search with their search function. Oncor power grid updates, water plans so north Texas doesn’t run out (we could if they don’t make good choices) are they making the right choices? Search up the article! Don’t read Facebook from your uncle, read from professional unbiased reporters who report what you need to know and not just “click bait”. Save your brain, save democracy, read the local paper!
Updated iPad App. The hopefully good news. The new app required a new subscription, bringing the cost down from $50 to $15 on the App Store. The news is good only if DMN actually cancels the $50 digital direct subscription. The bad news: the new iPad app is not fully compatible with the Apple keyboard. Specifically, the track pad functionality is very limited. You can’t scroll/change pages anymore. In addition, the type is blurry and hard to read compared to the older version. Definitely a quality downgrade.
All articles will not open. So y’all fixedthe header and the time is now at the top of the corner that is great but. Only the main articles now open on tapping the headline on the inside of the paper will not open then you have to magnify with your fingers to read the articles unless I’m missing something. This is annoying and I would give up the time at the top of the page to open articles like before.
What I enjoy about the DMN app. The ‘paper’ is easier to read than a paper paper in my favorite living room chair even with the ceiling fan on full blast. Flipping from page to page is easy and allows skimming until I encounter an article capturing my interest. A firm tap shows the whole article together with photos in full color. A firm tap on the top, left corner returns me to my original location. I can even continue reading when my cat insists on stretching out on my lap. I would not willingly revert to using a paper paper.
A new participant in e-paper on iPhone.. I have really enjoyed reading the paper on my iPhone at four in the morning are used to read the paper every day on my phone or iPad. They change the app this week and it is not working well for me! when I cannot sleep. Two suggestions: 1 The “page jump” by number at the top of the screen should be to a page just in that section… Not a sequential overall page sequence of the paper! The latter is meaningless, where as the former would be very helpful. If you are in B section, and you enter the number six, it should take you to B6! 2 when you tap to open a certain article, it should include the whole article, including the part on another page. It seems to do this sometimes… So inconsistent. The e-paper has been a wonderful new discovery in my life! Thanks! PS thanks for fixing the section deficiency so quickly today! PS on Soduko, I loved the different shading of the 9-block sections you installed Monday. Now you have taken it away! No … go back!!!
Inconsistent and repeated sign in needed for no apparent reason. When the app is working it’s fine, but the app consistently crashes creating the need to delete and reinstall. Then, on a much too frequent basis, sign in is needed with no ability to recall user name and password. For a biased, left-leaning paper who rates continue to climb at remarkably high levels, at least the app should be hassle free.
A trustworthy source. I have been reading The Dallas Morning News on a daily basis for over 50 years. I appreciate the quality journalism as well as the features and other articles they provide. The Belo corporation was dedicated to the community and supported many charitable causes. I hope that the new owners will continue to do that.
Wow, much improved app!. I had used this app and subscribed to the DMN previously and I enjoyed it, but didn’t think the user interface was good enough to warrant paying the subscription price. Today, I downloaded the app and re-subscribed. What a difference! This app is superb on both my iPad and my iPhone. Now, it’s definitely worth the subscription price. And I like the convenience of paying for it via my Apple account, rather than the hassle of paying DMN directly. By the way, what hooked me was that DMN recently became part of the Apple News+ app. When that happened and I began seeing and enjoying DMN news articles in Apple News+, it prompted me to check into getting all DMN news in their own app.
COVID free. Reading the DMN from my iPad was something I resisted. I like the tactile feeling of holding a newspaper and the sound of the crackling paper. The Coronavirus came and grabbing the DMN that has been wrapped in plastic, shove in a car with a person breathing on them, plus who knows how many have touched it, so iPad was great alternative. Low and behold, I have enjoyed the app. Easy to read. Easy to zoom in small print or isolate an entire article to read. So this old guy is now in 21st century, but still will enjoy a real paper as time allows. Some good from COVID or enjoying my options.
Flawed system, biased columnist reporting, improving balanced editorials and a great read on my iPad. The system has a big bug: when selecting an article of interest to share via email or text, 99% of the time the wrong article is sent. It’s impossible to share or save an article of interest. You think you are selecting the correct article only to find another article is attached to the email or text. If you fix this big bug you go from 1 star to 5 stars. I love the app and reading the paper on my iPad, except for this issue. Additionally, the paper’s editorials are still slanted to the left, but I have noticed over the past several months an effort to share opinions from the right as well. The columnists are almost 100% biased and always report from a left’s viewpoint. Need to hire more balanced reporting columnist for the paper. I prefer balanced reporting of the facts and not biased reporting either way. I am intelligent enough to have my own opinion from reported facts and not be schooled or told what my opinion should be.
New App (April 1, 2026) is Terrible. The new app is terrible. I have lost about 25% of the viewing screen. A new header, unwanted ads at the top of the screen (about 2 inches) and fixed page options at the bottom (another inch). The print option doesn’t work. When I tried to provide feedback via the app, my DMN login credentials were not recognized and feedback was not sent. It appears the Hurst group that now owns DMN needed to put their spin on the app. I guess they haven’t heard the saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. I did access the epaper through the DMN website with no issues.
Poorly designed and executed. The new DMN app has taken a functional app and turned it into a poorly designed, difficult to use and advertising forefront app. Several of the features do not work. Advertisements shown on the upper bar change every 30 seconds and often consist of disturbing flashing images. The ability to print puzzles from an iPad is non-functional. Newer does not always mean better. Too many bugs are present. Two stars is generous.
New version of this app is terrible. What used to be an easy to use way to read my morning paper on the mobile app has become a nuisance. I can’t open many articles individually and often I touch something that opens an article I wasn’t ready to read. BRING BACK THE OLD APP.
Changes. The usual reason to update an app is to make it easier for the reader. Let me list a few things. The blue bar on the top serves no purpose except to take up space on my iPad. I have to constantly scroll down to read articles. I always download my newspaper so I can read it on the on the plane. I’m having trouble downloading it now. I hope I can figure it out. It used to be so easy to jump from the Metro page to the comic section but just one tap. Now I have to scroll to find the first page of the comics and then tap on it. No Bueno Lastly, I have written to you 3 times in the past to please have a double tap on an article to go to article mode ( not sure if I am using the right terminology). It is so aggravating when a mere brush of the finger sends it into article mode. Aaaaarrrrgh!!! Thank you!!
Hearst ruined it. There was an update after the DMN was acquired by Hearst. I imagine they moved the content to the platform that other Hearst owned papers are on. It was a downgrade. The new app is extremely buggy. For example, last Sunday the Sunday edition disappeared from the app several times. I opened the app and Saturday was the most recent edition. Sometimes the navigation allows you to jump to a particular section of the paper other times you can only jump to the first page or the last page. When there are 86 pages to the Sunday paper it is very inconvenient to go through 40 pages to get to the Business section. Finally, you can’t copy and paste text from the app anymore. Sometimes I quote the DMN in my social media posts, always giving credit, but now to do that I have to type the entire passage. I’m very dissatisfied with this app.
Terrible update. Why in earth would you take a great app and update it to make it less user friendly and more complicated? I now have to go to the computer do it. That 100% defeats the purpose of having an app. I, actually should be able to complete my puzzles on the app without having to print them. That way, all I would need was my iPad or phone. You have put all of these symbols on the pages, which is confusing and unnecessary. Isn’t updating something supposed to improve functionality and ease of use? I want to be able to work all of my puzzles as if I was holding a newspaper.
Software changes. DMN released S software updates to digital paper without fully testing. Example we print the puzzles and the new release the print button doesn’t work. You can’t just screen shot the puzzles as they don’t format. The print function always works until dms fixes the problem after new software releases. As of today it still doesn’t work
Changes not great. Some of the changes made to the app aren’t great. The pop out articles are harder to read with the font, sizing and such. Also some of the articles don’t pop out like they should (news briefs, dear Abby eg). Also the old app remembered the font size you prefer, now you have to choose each time. Also at the bottom you can choose the desired section of the epaper; but it is hard now to get the section selector bar to pop up. Also the landscape mode no longer works; it didn’t work for years and finally got fixed but now landscape is locked again on iPhone.
Bias on Reporting. I have taken the DMN for more than 20 years since moving to Texas. Hands down the Sports Day section is the best in the country. Great coverage and columns! Local reporting is also excellent. I have considered on more than one occasion dropping the paper as it has more and more bias throughout national reporting. What seems to be lost is reporting of the news and providing information so we as the readers can form our own opinions or inquire further. I do not need a reporter telling me what is true or false, especially without saying that it is their opinion rather than fact. Save that for editorial and opinion pages. Let’s get back to balanced reporting leaving behind bias and sensationalism.
Lazy Reporting. At the beginning of COVID two years ago you reported locally accurate data on infections and deaths, but always added data “preexisting conditions and age”. This reflected the then popular narrative that young healthy people weren’t at risk. So, story was slanted, but data was accurate and useful. Now, with the Delta variant you again report infections and deaths, but you don’t touch the percent who are unvaccinated. Occasionally I read the majority are unvaccinated, and even once I read the vast majority are unvaccinated. The exact data is critical in convincing unvaccinated friends and family to get the shots. After all, 51% is far, far different than 99% in that type of discussion. Do your job - give us the data we need, not just parrot some national line.
New app is badly broken. I’ve been reading the DMN e-edition daily for >10 years and have seen multiple revisions of the iPadOS version over this time. However, THIS new app is so bad, that I’m seriously considering cancelling my subscription (and I’ve been a subscriber to DMN for about 35 years). For one, it has a popup add on the top banner that has to be closed out when you first open the paper. Secondly, there’s an obtrusive banner at the top and navigation bar at the bottom that’s taking up much needed screen space. Thirdly, I can no longer scroll or swipe using my Logitech Combo Touch’s trackpad. In addition, you can no longer save full editions of the paper locally. I had almost a year’s worth of previous editions saved to my iPad and no way to access them. I had to delete the app and reinstall the app just to free up the storage space. Finally, the font-kerning is broken. You’ll see sentences at the bottom of some paragraphs were the font appears to be “squished.” How did this app get past testing and who signed off before releasing it?
Extremely light on content for a huge metro!. Why can’t you guys do like the other major metropolis’ newspapers and put the MUCH more of your paper’s content content in an organized-by-section format that makes it easy to read and go through different sections? This thing is lighter on content than a community newspaper! Seriously, spend some time looking through the LA Times app, or Washington Post, or New York Times, and tell me that you’re even in the same league with them in terms of their apps. Very disappointed.
DMN Print App. So the new app is supposed to have new features. What I find is that it’s harder to view whole pages on one screen to scan for stories I want to read. It’s also super sensitive to the touch (I use an iPad) when moving a page to scan, and an article will be zoomed in on. That’s super annoying, as I have to close it out and then resume my page scanning, and then inevitably zooms into another untended article. I know I’m the dinosaur that still wants to see the printed version but why make it harder?
The new app does not support existing subscriptions. I have had a subscription to the Dallas Morning News for several years. When I bring up the new App, I am shown headlines, but when I try to select a story it asked me for an ID and password. With an iTunes subscription you don't have an ID and password combination. I still have a month left on the current subscription. I have been back and forth all afternoon with the Dallas Morning News and Apple. Apple says it is a developer problem; Dallas Morning News says it is an Apple problem. At one point, Dallas Morning News found my email address, but we still couldn't use it by using that to reset the password. While the new app looks very good, I feel I have been cheated. I finally canceled my subscription and tried to create a new one. The new subscription fee is more than double what I had been paying. Dallas Morning News as a Watchdog columnist who loves to investigate and go after cheats. I think I'll try him and see if he's willing to take on his bosses.
Failed to Delivery Read All About It Nowhere!. Use to be when my paper was not delivered or thrown in the mud puddle or on top of my roof I would call and ask to have another paper delivered to my home, if this did not happen I would deduct the cost of the paper from my next bill. This was a lot of trouble but at least I only paid for what I was delivered. So in the e-verse world when I can’t read the articles or print the crosswords without a lot of trouble it is like not having the paper delivered to my home, unfortunately there is no way to deduct poor service from an app subscription. If DMN wanted to they could test out the app before rolling out a new version, they could provide step-by-step instructions on how to use any new features, or lack of features like printing crossword puzzles from within the app, after all isn’t DMN in the business of providing news and information? Each time there is an update there is a problem that makes the e-version worse than having a real paper thrown into the mud puddle or on top of my roof. Very poor service, unlike with a real paper there is no consumer reimbursement for failure to deliver. Also, where are the reporters asking the Editor where who what and why doesn’t the April1, 2026 update not work? When will paid subscribers see a fix, FAQ or steps to make the app work?
Liberal Bias Overwhelms Good Local Coverage. I have subscribed to the DMN for 37 years. It has been a reliable (and sole) source of local news for all that time. Sadly during this period the national coverage has drifted decidedly to the Left. This drift has coincided with a drop in circulation. The editors seem more responsive to the owners than to their reading public. Stories supporting a liberal agenda always make their way to the front page while anything adverse either is not covered or slips to the latter pages. Even each story is written with a clear liberal bent. 70 to 80% of the political cartoons attack the Right. The only places that a balanced reality set in are Letters to the Editor and voter recommendations. We have already reduced our subscription to digital, completely cutting the cord is not far away.
Good content, HORRIBLE APP!. I no longer live in Dallas but enjoy following Dallas sports as well as local news. I believe that DMN remains the best source for this content, but the app is the worst I’ve ever used. I delete and re-install a couple times a month minimum and have to re-log-in a couple times in between. Most frustrating is when traveling, after downloading the days paper and then being locked out while on an airplane! Has happened to me several times.
Ads on screen taking up space in latest update. I use this app everyday. I pay for my subscription. Now there are ads taking up part of the screen that is just annoying. I don’t need screen space taken up for something I pay for. Most apps you have to pay for is to remove ads. The subscription fee is significant as it is.
Main Stream Media. If your intent is to follow the mainstream news and ignore all of the news, then you are doing well. If you print all of the news, you might be surprised by an increase of subscribers. I would like to see two articles of a major news story written from a left and right perspective on the same page. I would like to read news stories that that are reported by Newsmax.
New app is bad!. It was bad enough that I had to stop delivery because the paper was never delivered before I went to work. Switching to the app was close enough to at least allow the look and fantasy of reading the physical paper. With this new app, that’s pretty much gone. Large persistent borders reduce the viewport in landscape mode to not even cover a small section of an article. Reading on an iPad, the touch control is somehow so sensitive that moving the page around so I can follow an article frustratingly opens the article almost every time. The readability has decreased tremendously right along with the pleasure of reading the paper. After over three decades of being a subscriber, this has become one of those times I’m questioning whether to cancel or not. The “read” is why I keep the DMN subscription when there are so many other ways to consume the news. Fire your UI/UX designer! With hope of a fix, Paul Vasta
Terrible new app and roll out. The new app is so full of borders you can’t read it like a newspaper. DNM banner at top. Ad banner under that. Nav banner at bottom. Using an iPad in landscape, the paper itself uses 1/3 of the screen, near impossible to read. In addition, email says subscription expired, which was a surprise. I’ve a mixed subscription with Sunday delivery, but you can’t tell it logging in to the account—if you can find that. Portrait view on iPad not much better. View on computer monitor not much better. Awful app. More awful roll out. Someone should have looked at the NYT app. It’s a perfect digital “paper.”
Good app. Needs better hot key support. This reader is a great way to read the paper every day. To the developers. I really wish there were more hotkeys available such as zoom in with the + or zoom out with the -. And if zoomed in, it would be nice to use the keypad to quickly jump to different sections of the open page. So if I hit seven, then it scrolls to the upper left-hand corner. Having to use the mouse and keyboard is a bit cumbersome.
Upgrade makes app worse. I liked this app much better before the last update. I used to be able to see just the article text and felt more like reading an actual newspaper. Now icons remain at the top of the page and there does not seem to be a way to get rid of them. I find it very distracting and unappealing visually. I would much prefer the option to open a single article without anything else on my screen.
Absolute disaster. I agree with the previous review that being inflicted with ads when I have to pay over $100 a year for a subscription is ridiculous! When you look at the comics, you used to be able to turn the phone sideways and see the full comic. Now because of 2/3 of the iPhone screen is taken up by ads, they are virtually unreadable. What’s worse, is that they can’t be expanded like any other good app allow you to do because the ads won’t expand them. I’m really considering canceling my subscription to the Dallas morning news!
New app is painful. Just updated to the new app and I hate it. In landscape mode, 1/3 of my screen is gone with the menu bar and the advertising bar at the top and the navigation bar at the bottom. Even on an iPad Pro, there’s almost no room to actually read the paper. It’s like the developers took the web interface and slapped it in an app without considering the pain caused by their clutter. I’ve been a subscriber for decades and this may be the straw that broke the camel’s back - hard to support a paper that wants to make it difficult to read their actual product.
New E edition update - not good. I’ve been a DMN subscriber for 30+ years and enjoyed the print edition until the delivery cost didn’t make sense anymore. Switching to the E edition wasn’t so painful since it read exactly like the print. Many letters have been published over the years in praise of the E editions ease of reading and use. Now you update …. and the user experience is terrible. Banners and ads and tabs that decrease the ability to just read the paper. You are now limited on enlarging the print and can only view the top or bottom half of a page. I generally read the paper on my iPad but if traveling or at work, I use my phone. Now the “extras” take up 1/3 of the screen of a phone. That is especially irritating when you can barely enlarge the article to read it on the limited screen space. Love your paper. The new app - 0 stars, do not recommend.
Why did you mess with a good thing?!. It was working just fine! First the new rollout was a disaster and your customer service didn’t have a clue what to do. I can now get in but HATE the new layout. I used to be able to see an entire page and read it on my iPad without any extra navigating. Now the page/font is bigger and I have to scroll up and down on EVERY SINGLE PAGE. It’s ridiculous. Change it back! I miss the total page count too. Why was that removed?
Great paper absolutely terrible app. If you subscribe by way of Apple, you will have to go through all kinds of efforts periodically as The Dallas Morning News will not offer any support when, even though you have paid and are current through Apple. It takes 20 minutes to talk to someone at DMN who then says they don’t even keep records of your subscription if purchased via Apple store. This is the only news app that has this continuous problem and seems not to care, but they get your money or someone does. Great paper, terrible support for app.
New App is terrible. I’m a longtime user of the iPad app and this is my go to for local news every day. The previous app was great and this new update is terrible. I used to see the digital paper full screen which allowed me to read chunks of text without constantly scrolling. This new apps has a massive unremovable ad section at the top and large UI sections at the top and bottom which take away extremely valuable screen space. And as a fully paid subscriber, why am I seeing even more ads than the ones already on the digital page? These ads constantly update and animate, and it’s wildly distracting. I’m canceling my subscription.
Not crazy about new changes. The changes rolled out in early April for the app are not great. I really enjoy enlarging each article and the size now stops. Each time I move around, it takes the picture a few seconds to not be blurry. I do want to read the articles like they look in the physical paper and not have to click on each one.
Clipboard Access - Why?. I think in general the app works well on my iPad however I am highly concerned that the Dallas Morning News automatically reads my clipboard contents every time I switch to this app (whatever I have recently copied) and presumably uploads to their servers. There is no reason to read my clipboard since there is nothing to paste into the app - this is a newspaper READING app. No editing happening in this app. Please correct this security breach.
Great paper but app needs work. The Dallas Morning News is a great newspaper. I would give it five stars for content. The changes to the app need work. The ads plus the header and footer leave very little space to read the articles. Also I prefer to read the detailed articles in black screen mode and I cannot find that setting.
Liked the old app better, new one has many issues. Less room to read the articles now. Can no longer print the WONDERWORD and SUDOKU puzzles. Can no longer see where to find previous days editions of the paper. Can no longer skip to the next section of the paper or go back directly to a previous section. No chat available on the app and no email address shown to ask questions. My only option was to call to discuss shortcomings and get questions answered. I called last week and was told the were several known issues and to wait until this week to see updates. So far, I haven’t seen any changes and all the problems still there. NONE OF THESE ISSUES WERE ON THE OLD APP, GO BACK TO THE OLD APP. These issues should have all been easily addressed during their testing.

Enjoy My DMN ePaper. The Dallas Morning News has done a great job with their ePaper!
No longer unbiased. I am about to cancel my subscription because your paper is becoming increasing liberal in its reporting. In the past, I could always count on the DMN to be fair and relatively neutral, but not any more. Sign me..... another former subscriber.
Unreliable. Terrible. Hangs up every few days and requires reloading.
Paper. Really prefer reading the paper and having it delivered really don’t care to have it online. Cost has gone up tremendous .
Broken. On iPad and iPhone, app displays front page, but tap on any article and app displays blank page “1 of 0”
Liberal state run media show. Become super liberal anti republican over the past year. Does the same company that owes left becoming Fox News now own you. Should be ashamed of yourself lying to the public
Beneath the Brand. This app is a weak offering, albeit an improvement from DMN’s prior attempts. Belo Corp. needs to invest serious $ in designing a high caliber app. The paper serves the country’s fourth largest media market.
Still can’t sign in. I don’t know what is going on at the DMN but I haven’t been able to read my e-paper for days on the app! It asks me to sign in but tells me its an invalid email and password. I can sign in through the webpage but that’s not what I'm paying for!
Love the Paper. Great content and information!
Log in. I have been trying to get my paper for 2 days without results I called in to your paper and I got no results.
New App Stinks. The new app is practically impossible to easily use on an iPhone. It’s bad enough for me to consider giving up my subscription.
DMN Website. Outstanding ease and maneuverability
Print. Doesn’t print properly. Won’t print the complete puzzle. Previous version would print correctly.
Horrible App. I’ve been a subscriber to the DMN since 1985. The app is horrible. Every day I have to delete and reload. It never updates to the new edition. Swiping does not work.
Change. What did you do? Is it the version I’m using. I can no longer put a page number to go to at the top of the page or click on an article and then back to the page I was reading
Bad Experience - crashes or won’t open - getting worse. So frustrating
App not working. Not working at all this week. Guess there is a problem. I have the latest iPad update.
Not work with Apple 14.5. Warning. Do not update iPads or iPhones to to 14.5 until they fix enews app. DMN epaper will not open. Restore button does not work. Please fix NOW
Poor performance, poor layout.. I’d say about 75% of the time the news will not load on this app. When it does you have to wade through over 10 tabs accolcated to Dallas area sports.
No Access to Paper. Thanks DMN! You are struggling for readership so you update your App to prevent even existing subscribers from reading the paper. Not a very sound business strategy.
Doesn’t work with no internet connection. If I download the paper then go to a situation where there is no internet (such as on an airplane) I can’t read read the paper. It says I need an internet connection. Makes the app generally useless for me.
Clunky. One of weaker newspaper apps I’ve downloaded. Clunky to set up. Lack of curation in news feed. Lacks elegance over all.
Problem with App. IPAD app for e newspaper is not solid or reliable. About every 4 days I have to delete and download because I get “file error” and that gets tiresome after awhile. Never have that problem with USA Today app.
App needs work. When I open the newspaper portion, the app remains in that mode. I need to totally reboot my iPad to get to other sections of the app. I’m using the newest iPad and latest version of iOS. I have communicated the problem to DMN and talked to their IT department, but the problem persists. Hence the 1 star rating.
This used to be a great app. And then they merged with the epaper app. Now, you click on a breaking news alert notification and it just takes you to all the stories. The design is clunky and not intuitive. Not a great UI.
Disgustingly Biased. The DMN used to be my favorite newspaper as I’ve taken it for 47 years, but no longer is it. The obviously left leaning articles are disgustingly biased and not worthy of serious contemplation. May your biases reap you what you have earned: the disrespect of half your readership.
Paper never updates. Same issue as everyone else. I have to delete the app and reinstall in order to get the current day’s paper. VERY FRUSTRATING!! Get you act together BELO!!
Hate the liberal bias.. Can’t even make myself to read this paper most days. The comics are the only redeeming feature.
Very Poor App. Very hard to work with. The login function is almost impossible.
Dallas Morning News. EVERY day when I log in I have to have to enter my email and password. I have written 4 requests for help. I get a canned response, ‘we are working on it’. That’s been going on for a year! C’mon, fix this bug. I pay and it’s frustrating to have to log in all the time.
Bugged app. This app is worthless for air travel. Even when the edition is downloaded, it is unavailable when off line. It shows as downloaded, but tapping on the edition to open it does nothing.
DMN App. Still relatively new so far very pleased Enjoy it daily
Puzzles. I would like for the puzzles to be interactive.
Great articles. Love love the DMN. Great articles with comprehensive background when needed. Responsible reporting and a good variety of interests. Keep up the good work.
App spies on clipboard. Whenever I switch to this app, I see a message that shows that this app has “pasted from X.” It’s spying on clipboard contents, stealing whatever is there. DMN I thought you would be better than this.
Enjoy the read. I enjoy the e-news. It’s well formatted and meets my needs.
New update bug. Screen jumps back to home screen for no reason while reading a story. This happens repeatedly without warning.
The Dallas Morning News. This paper has gone down hill since the last time I was a subscriber. I am going to cancel my subscription after only two hours of purchase!
The app stopped showing sections. On an iPad 2, you used to scroll up to see sections. Now I must turn each page. Also, the app does not always load the current issue. You must delete the app and reinstall.
Doesn’t work offline. After downloading the online version to read when offline, the paper will not load once offline. It tries to update.
Left leaning. I have read the DMN for years. It used to be unbiased, but no longer is. Opinions, editorials and even headlines skew everything to the left.
New and improved it isn’t. Hard to go directly to a section without a hassle
Doesn’t work. The app seems broken. Doesn’t do anything bu say Dallas Morning News. I deleted it, re-downloaded it, but got the same result.
Unreliable. E-edition is unreliable and won’t open on a semi-regular basis and then there’s nothing you can do about it after following EVERY SINGLE ONE of their automated suggestions to fix it. Very frustrating and annoying!
Why do I continue to get a paper with old news.. Why do I get a so called newspaper if they don’t give you the timely news. No high school football in today’s paper. Only reason I get the paper now is to do sudoku every day. I question myself is it worth it?
Constantly crashes. Can’t believe I am paying for this.
Where the button for the latest edition. I don’t like powering down my pad just to load the new edition. But that seems like the only way.
New version doesn’t work. I was prompted to download and use the new app and since then I can’t get epaper or headlines in my iPhone app. Multiple contacts with help desk and deleting and reinstalling app didn’t help. In frustration I cancelled my subscription.
App Biometrics. I’m disappointed that the app does not have facial recognition as I’m logged out of the app every couple days and have to enter my login credentials again.
Time to cancel. Hundreds of newspapers across the country chose to remove Delbert from their comics section following his ultra racist diatribe on his podcast. But not Dallas Morning News, they’re evidently fine with racism here in the state of Texas. Buh-bye Racist apologists.
