Smart search lets you identify birds just like the experts while BAM only shows species that are found in your GPS area. More Details of What’s New: bit.ly/ibird-whatsnew

With the iBird UK Pro’s avian matching system you can search for birds by color, location, shape, habitat or any one of our 38 identification field marks to find your bird. iBird's comprehensive species pages have 1,200 built-in bird songs, 1,500 professional high resolution bird photographs, 900 hand drawn composite illustrations and over 350 range maps.

The Best. Mitch Waite doesn't disappoint... What he has done for the States.. he's now done for the UK.

mmkAtlanta. This is an OK app. It would be much, much better, however, if one could list the birds in taxonomic order. I don't find listing alphabetically by family very helpful. Most modern field guides are arranged taxonomically and most serious birders think that way. I do like the additional photos. I found them very useful during a recent trip to the UK. Some of the range maps are out of date. For example, we found Linnets in the Outer Hebrides and we learned from a local expert that they have been breeding there for a number if years. The range maps do not show Linnets there. There is an error for the Ring-necked Parakeet. The listing says they were introduced in 1069. I strongly suspect this is a typo!

Great app. If anyone is in Britain or Ireland get this app

BAM doesn’t work. This app is ok, but not great, at bird ID. The images are misleading at times, and the information is sparse. I’m giving the one star rating because the developers are selling the BAM feature from the uk app and they know it’s broken. Simply doesn’t work.

I love iBird UK. I love iBird UK. I have iBird Pro that U have been using for some time

Love it. It is a great way to prepare for a trip. You can limit your region, which brings up just the birds you are most likely to see. Then you can study them one at a time, painting, photos, songs, range, information. An improvement would be to also restrict by season(s).

Superb, previous version easier to navigate. iBird shows you how the guides of the future will be done. The new interface is beautiful, but it seems to be a little more difficult to find birds you don't know than before. Beats a paper guide, but you can't get it wet in the field.

Best UK bird app!. This app is terrific, and has new features that I hope will be coming to the North American apps soon. The sound quality is amazing, and is enhanced by the amplitude and spectrograms for each sound. Most birds have multiple recordings with well-written descriptions. I really enjoy the photo slideshow, which you can set up to view by photographer, species, or family. Having the sound recordings play at the same time has really helped me identify calls. I was also impressed by the artwork and the high quality of photographs. The search engine is easy to use and quickly lets me identify birds, I love that I can take this anywhere and not need an internet connection for this app to work. I have 2 other UK bird apps, and this is by far the best. It is the most comprehensive, has the most photos and sounds, and is a pleasure to use. I 100% recommend this bird app.

Disappointed !. App is missing several birds regularly seen here. Great Egret, Glossy Ibis.. app needs to be updated to match reality.

Great app!. Easy to use, great info

Very Easy to Use. My husband and I have been coming to the west of Ireland for the last 30 years, but I have not done much birding here. I recently arrived in Ireland and loaded this app. I have an app on my phone from National Geographic and find this app better. Multiple audio calls and photos for each bird as well as the "range" feature are most helpful. I have already identified many birds not common to the US.

Pleased. Excellent!

Great app. We use iBird in the US all the time so it's great to have the same format to use while traveling in the UK. It would be nice if the thumbnail pictures showed male and female dimorphism (or alternate juvenile plumages) but the photos often solve that problem. The app is my only bird guide for this trip, I've been using it on my iPad mini quite a lot.

Does not link with iBird journal. Very frustrating that it does not link to your lists and you have to enter every name as a “custom”. There is little online help with issues. Good for bird ID.

Not as good as N American version. It has all the nice things as the N Am version but the lack of multiple illustrations is a major drawback. How is it possible to show only male ducks, and only one plumage for the males? Same issue for many other species.

VanillaVal. I really enjoyed using this ap to id and learn about birds on a recent trip to Ireland. The audio aspect was particularly delightful!

Rating. Great app for bird ID.

iBird UK is Brillant!. I have been using iBird Explorer Pro for a couple of years, and everyone I show it to runs out to buy a version of iBird for themselves. I have not seen any paper field guide that is as easy to use or has as much information as iBird. Since I love the North American version, I was eager to see the birds from the British Isles. I am delighted to report that iBird UK is brilliant, and has a number of improvements over iBird Pro. The coolest new thing, by far, is the slide show with the song for each bird playing as its photo is displayed. (I hope this feature will be added to the older iBird apps in the next upgrades.) I am gradually learning to recognize many birds just from their songs. Almost all of this app is self contained – that is, you don’t need an Internet connection to use it. Therefore, it is perfect for using in the field. You can search for a bird by entering its characteristics, check out the bird’s range and habitat, compare the bird to photos, and listen to the bird’s songs right there in the field. And for people who like to keep records, the notes function lets you write a note, including the date, time, and location automatically entered from your iPhone data, and associate it with a specific bird you might have just seen. The extras that do require an Internet connection, Birdpedia, Flickr, the iBird manual, the photographers’ websites, etc. are all things that are not essential to identifying a bird. I give this app 5 stars without any hesitation or reservation!

I want to go to the UK/Ireland Now. What a guide book for traveling to the UK or Ireland. Locations to visit, what birds/fowl to see.. With that out of the way I would like to review iBird UK 3.2. For comparison, I will be using iBird Pro HD (iPad) as this app shares many of the same characteristics as the iPhone version. One noticeable feature that caught my eye in the iBird UK was the inclusion of Conservation Status in the basic search (Ecology in iBird Pro but buried in extras), where you can instantly see bird species approaching or in protective status. While in any specific bird/species, when selecting identify, you get the “Codes and Conservation” information right at the top of the page. One of the neato (high geek factor) features is the new wave form and spectrogram additions to the sounds feature. I have spent hours on this one alone, like I said geek factor =10. And while we are on sounds, my 3yr old found another fun one. Shake the phone while on any species and it will pick a random bird and start playing the call of that bird.. Again lots o fun for the little ones (and young at heart). Movie birds: are you fans of the little known Potter series.. Many of the birds mentioned in this little known kids series are found in the app. Yet another educational tool for the family. One note of mention. This app as well as all of the other iBird apps is a stand alone app not requiring a network connection. This is really noticeable when out in the middle of nowhere and being able to pull up the searches quickly without waiting for the app to connect. There are to many refinements to this app over the Pro app for us in the states to mention and hope to see in future updates to the Waite Groups fine stable of apps. Another 5 star from me for another job well done and to a development group that doesn’t stop with a single release and wait for the $$ to roll in.

awesome. I love this app. It has helped me identify several birds and increased my love of birding!

Get It..... This app.... is amazing! I am a huge fan of birds, and I dont live in the UK, and I I still learn about amazing birds in other places. If you are bird fan then this is the app for you.

IBird UK v5. Excellent app, only lacking the multi-bird pictorial comparison available in iBird Pro for North American birds. Excellent value.

Fantastic App!. For anyone who loves birds this App is a must. User friendly, more details than you can poke a stick at, and the illustrations are absolutely stunning. Love the favourites feature and the ability to export the files in iTunes. Bird sounds feature fantastic, my 4yo sits in the grass in the backyard trying to attract birds, great way to get the next generation interested in their environment. Overall, it's a simple to use, informative and beautifully illustrated App that is worth the price!!

Where's the journal?. Briefly used after extensive use of the Aus Birds app, feel a little ripped off that this moderately expensive app does not have the journal function included in the edition I purchased.

Needs retina display optimizng. Love it! Loads of sounds, photos, facts and information. Still needs to be optimized for iphone4 retina display to get 5*

Mr. It's a must for birding in the UK! I love it!

Wonderful app but lacks updates. Like its bigger brother iBird Pro (North American) counterpart, iBird UK is a wonderfully crafted and useful app. However, the birds aren't being updated with illustrations and information found in its NA counterpart. Though adding features is fantastic it's the actual birds themselves that make the app what it is. Please update Mitch!!

Satisfait. Utile pour un voyage en Europe. Aide à l'identification des oiseaux qu'on ne retrouve pas en Amérique du Nord. Peut être utilisé dans les villes comme les campagnes.

Very good app about North America Bird. But i have some mistakes about bird names. I send you a email about this .today. my name is Peter Lane
