Good but needs updates!!. Overall this is a really good app! It is very informative and covers most additives/chemicals found in foods and cosmetics and tells you about them. There were a few I tried to look up and couldn't find. However, It's a bit pricy! I didn't realize it initially, but the app hasn't been updated since 2010!? Come on developers!!! It also hasn't been optimized for retina displays so the visual quality is poorer than most. However, the app is easy to navigate and has a nice interface. For the price though, it NEEDS some updates!!

Glad to see this app. Little research has gone into determining health impacts from chemistry used in consumer products. Cause and effect relationships are nearly impossible to prove in court regarding damaged health while much toxicity research is considered a trade secret. We are forced to protect ourselves and this app is a good place to start.

Awful. Don't waste money on this one. Vague information. Doest actually tell you which products out there do contain ingredients.

Some good info but some misinformation as well. At first, I was very excited to find this app! But then I noticed that while it does have some good information which is why I got two stars instead of one, there are a lot of ingredients that aren’t in the database. There are also some ingredients that are labeled as safe when they are not such as sunflower Lecithin. What’s worse when I emailed them to let them know, they ignored me. Not only is that a horrible customer interface and shameful but there are people eating that it’s hidden in foods and it’s contributing to inflammation an oxidation within the body and I bet people don’t know why they aren’t feeling well. Generally, speaking seed oils are not good for you in any form. Sunflower Lecithin, soy lecithin, safflower lecithin… and more…. are part of the reason America is so sick. I don’t care what the criminal agencies say about it they lie about everything else. Of course they’re going to lie about it being safe. Do your own research. And unfortunately, we can’t even trust like this.

Life changing application. How can we be aware of what goes into our food? How can we guess what those numbers and complicated names on the ingredient list mean? Are they bad or good for us? How can they affect us? That's where the Chemical Maze started making a big difference in my life. I started realising what is added to the food I eat everyday and I can tell you it is mind blowing ... and sometimes very very scary. 5 stars for a healthier life!

Excellent!. I'm so glad this has been released as an iPhone app. Now this brilliant resource will be available to a much wider audience. Great work guys!

The best!. I've downloaded the paid version for the top three most popular similar apps and after playing with them for the last couple of weeks I can advise that this one is the best there is and worth every cent!!!

Best app. I think everyone shod get this app, I have a rule where if I don't understand the ingredients I won't eat it, now it makes it a lot easier to understand what I'm buying and the health warnings alongside them.

Handy while shopping. Have used the book for years, fantastic info to make informed choices for food and beauty/skincare products . I would love a search feature that finds the next best fit for the complicated ingredient you’re trying to spell correctly....!!!

Works in Australia for all Chemicals i. Great App, use this while at the super market. don't try relying on products that say Real Fruit anymore and go on the codes on the back. I often find the woolworths and Coles home products actually have less chemicals in them than the branded versions, or the same chemicals. This app helps me avoid MSG related chemicals which actually make me really unwell.

natural way. This is a very cool app. Anyone who is serious about their health should use it.

Ok. Handy app to have, but the free version shows a barcode scanner which was the only reason I thought it could be worth paying over $7 for. Only to find the paid one does not have this feature (even though the camera page states otherwise) so pretty much a waste of money for me...

Pure Polish. This is much easier than trawling through the book itself to find the info you want. The app is beautifully presented and an absolute pleasure to use.

Doesn't work. I have iOS 8, and this app doesn't work at all. Hoping an upgrade comes through soon or there's a way to get a refund.

Chemical Aware. It is not until you come face to face to illness caused by food additives in everything do you appreciate a handy tool such as the Chemical Maze. I use it when out shopping, easy to look up what I can buy for myself and my family. Well Done.

Worth it’s weight in gold. If you want to live a healthier life without niggling health issues then this app is going to be your best friend. I don’t normally pay for apps but this is the best money I’ve ever spent on a health/food related app. I’ve had it for many years now and It has helped me and my family live a healthier lifestyle. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

Probably great for really common stuff. But I bought this because I thought it would help me navigate the range of chemicals found in exercise and workout supplements, and there is no information on even really common ingredients of those- even though they're for consumption

Great App!. Awesome app to reference regarding the sort of side effects you’ll have or not have by consuming or applying food or products that contain various preservatives and/or chemicals. One thing this app needs is a current update. 👍🏼😊

Essential app for health. I love this app. It makes is easy to quickly determine whether to buy something or not. A quick check shows what the numbers stand for, and their potential consequences. Essential.

Perfect pocket guide. This app is great for using in the supermarket. I use this for my son who has many problem from skin to asthma. Thanks guys, now I can eliminate things much easier from his diet.

Worthwhile having.. I have had this app for ages. It's not one I use every day but its so handy for when you are shopping & checking out new products. This app will stay on my phone forever. Great tool to try & educate friends/families on the downside of "convenience" foods & the affects the "colours & numbers" have on us & our kids.

The Chemical Maze. This is a fabulous app -however an update is long overdue as the number of chemicals we are now finding in products continues to grow at an alarming rate & some companies just change the name slightly to hide nasty chemicals that might be in their products

Fantastic as is but would be even better with improved search/sort tools. I have been struggling for years with increasing 'allergy' type symptoms. I had assumed it was primarily gluten, yeast & lactose intolerance but even after removing these from my I am still having intermittent random 'allergic' outbreaks. Stumbling across this app has given me a new hope to find the answers to 'what ails me' but most importantly, the tools to do it. The only thing I would recommend for future updates is improved sorting and searching functionality. In particular I think it would be useful to search by symptom/side effect. Also being able to sort things by things like safety level, side effects and even common uses might be handy at times. That said, the app is worth buying as it is! They are just things that I would find useful if the developers were planning to improve the app further :)

Scary but good. Strange the additives that are animal derived. This is a great app for a conscious vegetarian.

very handy. I have children, So I really want to make the best choice for them. I use this little app almost every time I shop. It only takes me a minute to check if an additive is safe or not. I am starting to realise which foods are to be avoided and which are ok. I also advise others to buy this app.

Overdue for an update by 2 years!. Good information however... App does not fully support retina displays nor has there been any work in tweaking this app. Guys don't just post the app and think the work is over; it's not. Please update.
