Recommend to anyone in art - Awesome app! (with small requests). This app is awesome! I have both the iPad and iPhone versions, and they have been amazing! The iPad version almost makes me wonder how I ever did art without it. I’m really glad I got both. Really nice, easy to use, great app. For me the following will make it a definite 5star (personal preference) 1) Auto lock(sleep) prevention When I want to use the app while working on another device, you have to toggle your setting to stop the phone from auto locking, and going black. I know it’s a small thing, but it can het annoying + I worry that I will forget to turn the setting back on. I hope they implement this soon. (Maybe only while the eye icon(?) is on? Especially since there are no multi task features on the phone) 2) Multiple import from files I can import multiple photos, but not from files(you can on iPad with multi task). Now I import file to photos first, as a work around. It’s not a dealbreaker, but would be nice. 3) Syncing option I feel an iCloud sync option, would be really nice. Or an export board function? Sometimes you spend a lot of time arranging your boards, or you update a board on 1 device, but have to do it all again to have the same items on your other device.

Amazing reference board app for artists!. This is everything I’ve ever wanted in a reference board app! You can collect and organize all your images with customizable art boards and there’s even animated gif support! I’ve been using this app to help create my illustrations and it’s been an incredible tool. VizRef works great alongside Procreate and other drawing programs! I highly recommend it for art hobbyists, students, and industry professionals!

Bug Issues. When I started to press on the app today, it would only bug out. Which not allowing me to enter and use references at all.

Able to upload to cloud?. Am I able to upload my folders or images to be able to move them to my iPad VizRef app from my phone vizref app? I just got this it’s a great app

No split screen functionality. I wanted to use this app on my iPad pro to help with drawing, but unfortunately, it doesn’t work with the split screen function that I so heavily rely on. If they added compatibility with this function to a future update I would probably reconsider my review.

Great app with lots of potential. I’ve started using this app and it’s perfect for the artist on the go. I’m pretty sure it’s made by the same group that created PureRef, but I could be wrong on that. The app has a great feature that allows you to organize different categories of images. And within each of these has tools that are pretty intuitive. It handles images and gifs very well. And gifs play continuously in the app. My only complaint is that the copy link option doesn’t work for other apps on my phone. Pinterest and instagram as examples, or at least I don’t think it does. However, the copy link option brings in high res quality images from Google images, so I can’t complain to much. The app is still in early development and I’m hoping that this could be implemented in the future. For about $2 the app is well worth the price.

This is super intuitive. One of my biggest frustrations with apps are bad ux that you need to look up how to do things. Everything in this app that you think should work a certain way does. You hit the ground running with this app. It's easy, it's got great features, and if you draw on the iPad or work in the industry like me it's an amazing app to have and totally worth the low price. Can't recommend it enough.

Updated Review - Still Love It!. I’ve used VizRef for a while now, and I had written favorably as well the last time I reviewed this app. I want to add an additional review after the current update. The iPad version of VizRef is CONSTANTLY open in split view alongside Procreate when I work. It’s almost become an extension of Procreate for me. The iPhone version is also a great option when I want a separate reference screen. The app is simple to use and very effective at what it’s built to do. I use this app to help keep my comics more consistent by collecting references and my previous drawings of characters or scenes all in one place. The in-app greyscale filter is invaluable. Also love that I can crop images within the app, and pause GIFs to look at specific frames. Another nice touch is that the app background more or less matches the background in Procreate. This adds to the feeling that the apps are part of each other, and keeps it from feeling distracting or visually busy. The last update just made this already excellent app even better by adding some ways to export and save boards, which means I now have a way to backup all of my compiled references. This is WONDERFUL and about the only feature I have been missing. Thank you for creating such an excellent tool for artists! 😃👏👏👏

Works great but lacks sync/export. The app itself is simple and easy to use and meets most of my needs, but AFAICT reference boards are saved locally to the device on which they are created and there is no way to copy or sync boards between iPhone and iPad. iCloud support would make both apps 5 stars and well worth the price for both.

App Crashes. Was great while it was working. Not sure what happened but now it’s constantly crashing on both iPhone and iPad.

Amazing but missing something. I use this app extensively on iPad and iPhone. it’s the closest thing to pure ref which is the PC counterpart. I do have one minor complaint: The app seems to be missing a multi select feature. there doesn’t seem to be a way to move around groups of images at a time. I have searched around and cannot find a solution That really slows down my creative process, as I needed to be able to manipulate images with similar concepts or elements. But if this feature were to be added in a future update I will gladly add the last star to this review

My only requests. I want to have access to the same assortments on both my iPad and iPhone (basically syncing) I can see a way to do this by introducing an accounts function so the data would be connected. Maybe there can be a button to see your other device’s galleries and access them that way, I don’t know! Also want to be able to scribble on photos!

Great. Really simple app that gets the job done perfectly. Building a reference board is very easy and quick. All very intuitive. Only thing is I wish is that boards synced between the iPad and iPhone.

Export from iPhone doesn’t work. I can’t get the export to work. It just freezes up.

Sync would be nice. Use app on both iphone and ipad. Would be nice if they synced. But more than usable as it is.

It didn’t split 😭🙏. I feel broken by this app

Highly HIGHLY recommended. So great all the photos when batch importing don’t lay on each other, strange you have to flip the hd switch to have images imported in HD happy it’s there just strangers it’s not just on. It does works, strangely “HD” photos I get from bing or google still show up pixelated but that could be the photo itself and not the app, the app does brighten the images imported, when compare from In app and the photos app. Found rotating accidentally should be a icon like the flip or b/w filter and then rotate from there, also I would like to be able to rotate individual images and not just the whole board, aside from that I do like the intuitive rotating gesture just needs a better spot or icon, sadly can’t do multiple select, love the new eye icon being apart to move around the board without any of the ui, still solid fluid stable app just like before still highly recommend

Needs iCloud Sync. The description mentions importing via iCloud, but that apparently that just means being able to add things from there via the file browser. Was under the impression everything would carry over from my iPad and honestly wouldn’t have purchased this version if I’d known.

Ughhhh. I bought this to use in procreate pocket to only figure out it doesn’t work

Finally!!!. For years artists have been looking for a tool like this on mobile! The developer is a professional concept artist and listens to feedback from artists to implement new features. This tool is off to a great start and will aid both digital and traditional artists.

Lack of share function. If i can sure the boards i create on ipad share on my iphone will be great.

GOAT app for drawing. I use this app for drawing goats, it’s great to have a bunch of goat photos to refer to while making highly detailed goat drawings. You can flip, rotate and resize the goat photos and even lock the canvas to prevent accidentally moving your lovingly placed photos of goats. You can have different boards for different types of goats which is handy. It even saves your board automatically so if you accidentally close it you don’t have to replace all of the lost goat photos. 5/5 goats highly recommended!

App crashes the moment I click it open. It worked amazing when I first downloaded it. But now that I need to use it today, the app crashes when I click it open. A few seconds of grayish screen then it dies. UPDATE: I deleted the app and reinstalled. It doesn’t crash anymore, but the data on there was lost. (I don’t mind since I only had one file, but maybe adding a cloud/save on phone for saving options might be a good ide)

Can’t use on older iPad. :(. I love the idea and it seems to work ok on my iPhone, but it won’t even download onto my iPad is only iOS 12.4.6. :/ I don’t plan on having an iPhone forever so unless I get a newer iPad, I won’t be able to use the app.

Use this app on all my art projects. Recently discovered and quickly became my favourite tool to use when drawing! Latest update brings autopack to iPhone and multi select tool also! HD mode is great too for referencing high res images! Keep up the great work! Thanks for giving the iPhone app an update!

Good app, stopped working on iPhone X. On firmware version 13.3.1 app will just crash on launch when it used to work

Doesn’t Sync with IPad Version. I like having my boards portable on my iPhone but I bought the lite version and it’s not syncing.

VizRef Lite App Customer Service, Editor Notes:

NEW FEATURES in 1.1.7 Exporting- Fixed some bugs related to exporting. Some of the UI was unresponsive when hitting export within the app. This was most likely due to some newer IOS versions that were later released. *** Please keep in mind that exporting/ importing directly into other apps such as Dropbox or even using Airdrop and Discord all work completely differently because of how those apps are created. We, unfortunately, can not improve much on batch exporting/ importing into these apps unless those developers improve how their apps deal with multiple images being imported or passing through them. For batch exporting images, I still recommend hooking up Dropbox/ Google Drive to the files app on your iPad and just batch exporting through the files app from Vizref. Please also keep in mind that batch exporting hundreds of images at once will most likely crash Vizref. This is also out of our control. I recommend batch exporting about 50 images at once for the most stable and consistent experience. Vizref and other apps can't export hundreds of images at once because every app on the iPad is limited to how much Memory it can use during all operations. The app is crashing because of the hard limit set by Apple for each app. Features - Revert Button- Revert will undo any cropping or rotating you've done to the image. The main reason for adding the revert button was that some users were finding their images were oddly scaled/ stretched to the wrong ratio. Revert is a backup for returning your image to the correct ratio/ scaling - the revert button is located in the toolbox icon at the bottom right after selecting an image. - Exporting gif files. Should work now give it a try! *Bug Fixes* -Fixed a bug that caused images from your board to not display if your board crashed on exporting. This bug should be completely gone. If it persists after updating your app please contact us at vizrefpro@gmail.com **If your images have disappeared from your board, please note that those images are still on you iPad and stored locally. You can retrieve them by going to the Files app then searching for your Vizref folder in " On My iPhone " or " On My iPad" file Open "Private Documents" then you will see each .VRB file. These are your reference boards and store your images locally. You can then retrieve your images here. Fixed some crash bugs. Fixed several UI inconsistencies and bugs.
