Great app but notes are broken. I love this app but notes seem to be broken in iOS 14. I can make a note but then it moves after I create it. This happens consistently for me. Hoping an update will fix it.

New bug fix. With the latest update, 75% of my 300 books are not listed by date added. They are all listed as added in 1969. Very frustrating. I love reading with this app and hope this can be fixed.

Second best in a dozen is still pretty good. This app isn’t the best on the App Store, or my first choice, but it is a strong second, and looking for something to replace Marvin 3, it feels like this might be the only app of the bunch with a real shot at replacing it if given enough to get caught up in features. The good: - highly customizable. Marvin 3 users will recognize a lot of things they love. - Active development. - Lots of solid features already. The bad: - Missing a lot of features that would otherwise make it great such as auto-scrolling or updating your progress on Goodreads. - The interface could use a rethink. Many of the menus and locations for features could be better thought through. Developer should consider brushing up on best UX design practices. - Not the prettiest app on the market. The Ugly: - For some reason, you have to register an account with them in order to add books to your library, even locally. - The app does not make use of iOS’s local file explorer. This means that it can be a great hassle for users to add books into their library as you’ll have to go outside of the app to do so locally, or frustratingly, re-sign in to other external services that otherwise might already be attached and signed into your file explorer, such as Google Drive.

Almost perfect. I have vision impairment. This is the best app. Please add a feature to change the text color of PDFs in daylight mode. I will pay extra for that feature. Please implement this. Thank you!

Great app, even better support. Phenomenal app that has everything I need in an iBooks replacement. I selfhost a Calibri content server and this works perfectly. The only thing the app was missing to me was the ability to have a custom background when using dark mode. So I emailed the developer and my feature request was implemented within a week. Thank you!

Very good. Has all the features you would want, especially like the new addition of instant page turn option. However sync does not seem to be working

Great ePub Reader!. Being an avid reader, I routinely look for newer and better software to enhance the experience, but I keep coming back to Maple. Using Calibre’s opds server function, the link up between my laptop where the ebooks arrive and my phone where the ebooks are read is smooth and fast. There are enough options for font, size, layout, background, overall look of the app, how pages are turned, etc. to please anyone and the controls for them are quick and easy. There are lots of options for sorting and viewing multiple books so I can quickly find whatever I want from 3000+ titles. Navigation within books is easy and you can set bookmarks. Good, responsive support from the developer. Both thumbs up!

The best iPad EPUB app. I got referred to this app while trying to fix some problems with Marvin; in the comments on a post someone suggested trying this 'new' iPad-only ereader. I did, and couldn't be happier. It instantly found my calibre library on my Windows PC (something Marvin was never able to reliably do). The organizational abilities make even my 700+ library easy to manage. Customizing the reading page format is easy and intuitive. There really is no downside. I don't usually review apps, but this one easily earns all five of its stars!

Probably the best ebook app.. MapleRead has incredible flexibility, customability and power; most importantly, it is actively supported when many similar apps have fallen by the wayside. Highly recommended.

G8TKeaper. Your program, Maplepop Reader, “looked” so interesting, so I downloaded it. . . I was Definitely interested in yourMain Program, Maplepop Reader SE, that I Bought It. OK So Far. . . Then I tried to Register It . . . . & EVERYTHING WENT SOUTH ! I put in my eMail Addr, a OTP, was sent, when I tried to put the OTP in the space provided ON PRIOR PAGE . . . It Disappeared. . . .F I X I T OR GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK !!! Pathetic ! I would have give a “0” or a “ “ but the it would no register!

is there a voice thing like voice dream?. I just got the app and I loved it ! I just wish there is free voices in this app.

Continues To Crash. I like to read in Landscape mode and if I use my iPad in portrait and then go to landscape and open the app the book never opens. I have to reboot iPad to be able to read. Although sometimes the paging just gets messed up. It splits the pages in the middle. I really like this app so much that I put up with this.

Good but not the best. One thing that would make this my only ereader is one click export for highlights / notes to Readwise. Until then I have to use BookFusion for my non-fiction and study materials. Another is the reading position sync; most other readers it’s automatic. With this it’s a pain to switch between iPad and iPhone.

Almost perfect. I just wanted a basic reader that actually worked, showed 2 columns in landscape, didn’t skew the words halfway off the page, decent font selection, and most of all keep track of where you are in the book when you turn off the iPad. You’d be surprised how many reader apps don’t do these basic things. Why doesn’t the iPad version have the “status bar always on” option? The iPhone version does have this option. I like to see the clock and battery while reading without having to tap in the center to see it and then tap again to go back to reading.

Difficult to sync between devices. I love the format of this reader. Especially the book theme. However I stopped using it for 2 reasons. The bar above is just too hard to read in night mode. And most importantly syncing is not an easy task. To down load a book I have to do it on both devices. Then I have to open each one and get pass the cover and extra pages to the contents page. Then I have to sync it. On my other devices e I have to sync it, I can read but before closing I have to re sync it. Nothing streamlined. Wish it flowed better because I really love the layout. I also have to recreate all my shelves and place books seperately into those shelves. Just wish it talked better between devices.

Continues to impress.. MapleRead is the kitchen-sink ebook reader. It does more than any other reader to accommodate my preferences: set white font on black background then adjust system brightness to achieve desired contrast, use minimal side margins but add paragraph spacing, organize in three dimensions (sort type, tags, sets), note categorization, share books between devices without having to involve cloud storage… etc etc. It does have some rough edges — you can’t have all those features available without that — but every feature, even the ones I never use, appear well thought out. And, after years of use, the app continues to improve. If you want an ebook reader that you control, this is your choice.

Finally? Yes, finally.. I've been searching for a successor to the Marvin series of e-reader apps FOREVER. How obsessed am I with finding this app? I haven't updated my iPad in over a year for fear that Marvin will no longer open. Marvin isn't in the app store anymore. It was accidentally deleted on a couple of my devices and I can never get it back. There have been many contenders. This is it. Does it have everything Marvin has? No. The customization isn't as advanced. Dev, if you're reading this, I have so many screenshots and notes detailing the things Marvin was capable of in terms of customization. I'll share them with you. The background color wheel is a nice touch, but I wish it had a color picking tool as well to copy colors outside the app. BookFusion has this. This app will now be my go-to. You have no idea what this means coming from me. I still have Marvin, Marvin3, and Marvin SXS on my iPad. But I will be using this app. Only one slight bug I notice -when I slide over to another app and return to MapleReader, my book has closed! This is a major annoyance, but easily fixed.

Dont spend your money. Its too hard to get it back! I have been unableto move books from my computer to this app. The instructions have not been update for years (iTunes is no longer used to manage files on a device). I finally found books in a folder called iTunes, and they couldnt be opened or moved. I do not want to use the web-not all of us have easy access. I was hoping for a replacement for marvin, but it looks like I just wont update my ios ever again

Almost the best. With Apple’s Books having so many issues this last few weeks: I’ve once again gone looking for a replacement. I expected it to be temporary as it was a few years ago when Books’ issues were ignored for other things. This is one of the best software app readers I’ve used. Good: Loading is quick, faster even than Books which decompresses on transfer, not load like here. Super fast: even with multi hundred megabyte image sets. It loads quickly, recovers to last page accessed instantly. Stable, no crashes. Multi-font, multi-lingual: supports Noto, the largest multilingual font platform. Bad: Interface is unique. Totally unique. Importing books could be an issue for those with mesh or inconsistent wifi. No table blowout. Formatted tables must be panned inline. There’s no way to pull the table into its own screen display. TOC methodology is fairly limited. For those that read volume releases or news feeds, that’ could be a consistent annoyance. It appears to like only a flat TOC and anything more complex can confuse it. Ugly: The only real complaint. No continuous scrolling. I don’t really get this. The end of a “page”, you need to long press and swipe to move to the next. It appears the app implemented a block stop. This may or may not be the end of a page. See the TOC issue above. Final thoughts: I simply can’t understand the lack of continuous scroll. That makes no sense to me. Saying the interface is clunky and confusing is being kind. It’s definitely its own methodology. Once you figure it out and get the hang of it, it’s good. I mean real good! Everything can be more or less learned to muscle memory fairly quickly. I think they simply have an Apple or Microsoft moment here: it’s totally different. And you will need to learn it by trial and error. But I see the why in the design. The free trial is limited to 5 books. That absolutely must be increased for any large readers to get a full idea. 10 is passable for a good test run and 15 would cover a wide range of testing. Best reader I’ve tried so far. Definitely worth the cost (it’s under valued).

Fantastic reader!. Superb flexible reading app. Also, developers are frequently adding new tweaks and are responsive to clients.

Not user friendly. Very difficult to get books into program. Sorry I purchased it.

Notes are having problems. iOS 14 appears to have introduced a bug that makes it really hard to create notes. I look forward to an update :-)

Great reader needs highlighting enhancements. I love the reader. One of the best. Great options I plan on exploring soon. However, I depend on colors to identify answers in my ePub articles. I need at least four readily available highlighter colors when preparing lessons in ePub format on my iPad Pro. After highlighting a particular text I tap on "Mark" and it highlights nicely. But there’s only one available color for highlighting. I need a pop up box with at least four highlighting colors to choose from (instead of just one). This functionality shouldn’t be that difficult to make available to the end user. Many ePub readers provide this type of functionality. I’m really disappointed that the SE and CE combo apps I purchased from Maplepop LLC don’t provide this basic highlighting functionality so readily available in other ePub Readers.

Love the new audio-book feature!. I am so excited that I can now listen to my favorite books! Any EPUB book can now become an audio book. How amazing! Thanks for adding this feature! Now I am listening while driving, exercising, etc. Just so useful! I love that there are many high quality voices you can download through the System Settings (Accessibility | Spoken Content). I suggest you download the Enhanced or Premium voices whenever available. They are very good quality and often exceed expectations. (My favorite voices are Nathan Enhanced and Samantha Enhanced.) Compare to many costly subscription-based reader apps (with much less features), this pay-once-only app is really a great deal. I’ve seen reader apps come and gone, or become abandonware. This app has been around for years and still being actively maintained and improved. Highly recommend.

Great app, with lots of options!. I want to thank the developers very much for their quick reply and support ... it is greatly appreciated! May I also take the time to compliment them on a wonderfully done app! I love the many options they have included, especially being able to import and use my own chosen fonts... I use a font called Happy Monkey that imitates the written had, one that no ebook reader would ever use, so having the ability to import my own fonts is a heaven sent on these old eyes! When reading an ebook and looking at a screen the majority of the day, this ability becomes a true blessing ... a soothing background color and choice of font makes all the difference on one's ability to enjoy an ebook, so thank you for such a incredibly well thought out app! This old man's eyes truly appreciate it... I know developers probably only hear complaints, via support, and on the majority of their reviews, so I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for such a well thought out app and design! I love and appreciate your app so much I purchased all versions to show that appreciation. I also try to tip the developers, as much as possible to show my appreciation , and as frequently as my wallet allows ... I believe it is one way we all can continue to support the development on this app!

Not quite there yet. The reader is great, one of the best available on iOS right now. If only the other features would also work properly, this app would easily be worth double the price, but they don't. Sync across devices doesn't work properly, the "download" button is missing completely on some devices for the same book and same calibre server, and so on. TL;DR great reader, poor implementation of other features.

Excellent controls. I am switching to MapleRead to read epubs. I have much more control over how the text is displayed: I can choose from lots of fonts, and also line spacing, paragraph spacing, and between my choices and the publishers (interesting to see how I differ from most of them). It is satisfying to my eye to have the text adjusted just as I like it.

Nearly perfect, but no CBRs!. This app is nearly perfect for my ebook needs! I love that it can connect to my calibre server unlike so many other apps, and it works with epubs and pdfs. The only problem is that I can’t download any of my old scanned magazines that I out into CBR format.

4/5 - Almost unbeatable.. I’ve been using MapleRead for around a week and have generally been pretty satisfied with everything about it. It works about as smoothly as any other E-reader app while on the whole providing many more features (the ‘And/Or’ function in the tag filter is my favorite feature that this app does that the other E-reader apps I’ve tried don’t have However, I’m giving this app 4* for now. Partly because of some performance issues (freezes, functions not working, a crash or two, etc) when performing big tasks (downloading 3k+ book calibre library or managing large chunks of tags) but mostly because of one feature it’s missing. MapleRead not having a ratings/star function akin to the one Marvin 3 provides is the only real reason I haven’t switched to Maple SE completely. it’s been an immensely helpful tool for how I organize my library. However unlike Marvin (which hasn’t been updated in years) this app seems to be receiving ongoing support so I’ll probably switch to it full time sooner or later anyway.

Best iOS and PadOS reader I’ve ever had. Been using this app for years to read epub and PDFs with all the features I could ever want and easy to connect to Calibre to transfer books. I literally can’t think of any suggestions for improvement other than the recent update has removed the smaller UI scaling size I had before. If that could be re-implemented I would be so grateful. Thank you for continuing to update and develop this app! 💗 Update: UI scaling back with full settings like before! Very responsive developer. Thank you!

Best combined epub & PDF Reader for iPad and iPhone. We’ve been waiting ages for a competent and well-designed iPad e-reader which handles both epubs AND PDFs. MapleRead SE finally ended this wait. By far the best and most elegant e-reading app available. Developer is active on the app’s mobileread forum thread and responds to bugs and feature requests promptly. He added “instant” page turns and two-page PDF viewing in Landscape, both of which are huge for us. I have NO affiliation with MapleRead whatsoever, just appreciate a great app when I see it (which isn’t very often). Worth $20 easy in my opinion.

Only epub reader that meets all my needs plus more. I wanted a reader that would let me import epubs, read with font+layout+colors customizations, and provide good text to speach for when listening feels easier than actually reading. This app executes on these things solidly. I can't remember what I paid for this app, but it doesn't feel like I paid enough given its high quality. One thing I didn't realize I wanted to have at the time, was the ability to easily import books from calibre. This app even autodetects your local calibre server. Additionally, the app lets you turn your iphone library into a server to sync books to other services. I'm not sure why this app doesn't get more 5 star reviews, but it should. Thanks for making such a great product.

Superb. Great epub book reader. Fantastic integration with Calibre — can even display the metadata. Everybody in my family has transitioned to this from iBooks and Marvin.

Excellent, customizable reading environment, crummy service.. All I wanted was clear instructions how to transfer the same books downloaded onto my iPad's MapleRead SE app, onto my iPhone's MapleRead SE app. The Help FAQ leaves much unexplained. The Support team's condescending response was to direct me to the Help page, adding, "I encourage you to try things out and learn by doing." Using the app across devices should be way more intuitive.

UPDATE. I used to use Marvin (a great app too if you only have ePubs) but was looking for something that was customizable and also read pdf. I stumbled upon this app and am so glad I did. Pros: almost totally customizable. You can import your own backgrounds. The SE version lets you import both ePub and pdf via OPDS too. Has all my favorite features (gesture dimming, page curl turn, killer sorting options as well as importing your own background) & best of all, doesn't crash if you have a large library. Update: Does crash with moderate & large pdf files. So frustrated. That's why I switched. Now I'm moving back to a different ereader. This one is great if your files aren't big. Cons: a little confusing to set up connection with Calibre. And there's an extra step to importing via iTunes. After dragging in, you have to go to the app and hit import as well. Otherwise two thumbs up. Please don't change it!

Best e-reader. Don’t know why, it just feels more pleasant to read EPUB books in MapleRead than other readers. Its book sets and tags help me easily organize my huge library. It also works well with Calibre. Great coherent support for PDF too. Tons of features, yet it's easy to use. Simply the best e-reader that I’ve ever used. Highly recommended.

Worthless....waste of money.. 1. Fails while importing EPUB books and PDF files from Calibre. 2. Fails to import a number of EPUB books from Calibre. Shows it there, but cannot read it. Marvin has not issue with any of them. 3. Has trouble with even PDF documents that Marvin and other PDF readers can. 4. IN EBOOKS cannot get the line spacing to adjust regardless of settings I use. Very disappointed after reading some reviews and articles. Wish I had not wasted my money on this product.

Now my favorite reading app. An excellent app with a responsive development team. One of my pet peeves with reading on my iPad, and even my Kindle, has always been that I would accidentally select text while reading because my thumb would lightly rest on the screen. This was very distracting. The developers hang out in the Mobileread forum so I mentioned this issue. When their new version was recently released, there was a new option to suppress the long press gesture. This completely resolved the issue. Of course, I can't look up words etc. but I almost never do that anyway.

Outstanding App for large libraries. I have a very large library of ~19,000 ePub and pdf books and articles. I used the PC upload and Calibre integration features to import them, and it works wonderfully! I absolutely LOVE this app. iBooks/ Apple Books is simply unusable at this point for a large collection of books. Your app lets me do everything l wanted to be able to do in managing my library. I am really thankful I found your app!

Wonderful ePub reader app. I tried several ePub apps before finding this gem. I like to have all my books on my Ereader (and there are thousands). I was very frustrated with the other ebook readers because after I bought a new iPad, I could only move 1 book at a time from Caliber. MapleRead SE has an option called PC Upload which allows me to upload hundreds at once. It only takes seconds. So easy. There might be a way using those other apps, but I couldn’t find it. This app is wonderful. I even had a question on how to do something, and Customer Service emailed me back on a Sunday. Can’t say enough good things about this app.

Terrific app. I enjoyed the layout and UI of the CX version and decided to purchase the SE version for more features. To be honest, other than loading more books and having a few more themes to choose from, I think someone can get by using the free version. I don't see how the developer can claim the SE version is more feature rich. The bookshelf theme option is still limited to just two. Highlighting is still the same. You would think the paid version would have the ability to underline or strike through a sentence. What was most galling was the way the developer inserted a way to donate more money to the app in the form of a "gratuity". I just paid $6.99 and you want more money? If you only want to read one book at a time, stick with the free version.

The only ePub reader I use. Excellent app. I use it every day. I’m very happy they increased the size of the Description Edit box!!

Love it! Except…. I was looking to replace Marvin Ereader which I’ve loved but now is no longer updated. MapleRead has all those features and I absolutely love it. It is top notch! The only reason I give it four stars is that it does not sync very well for me. It is inconsistent and a little confusing. Sometimes it does a perfect job and other times it doesn’t pick up the right place from the other device. It’s gotten frustrating for me, so that is my only complaint. Otherwise I would highly recommend getting this app.

Pain, pain, pain 😕. Still struggling to copy my over 3k of books library from my old iPad to a new one. Keep in mind, fellow readers, it is not easy. At all. Especially if you are not a computer geek, but a regular person who simply loves to read and collect books. Unlike other apps for reading, this one doesn’t allow to copy its content when you clone your old device via iCloud, you will be needing to do A LOT of painful movements. First, if your books are not from iTines, it won’t allow you to see your library via File Sharing. So, it’s not really an option. Second, if you think to do it thru MapleRead own server would be easy, guess what? It is not. They won’t even allow you to copy your whole library at once. So, instead of getting rid of my old device, I have to keep it around because it still stores all my books. What a disappointment.

Love the App…Wish for a couple of improvements. Love the app and its connectivity! I have a couple of wishes… Wish for highlighter improvements in Dark Mode annotations. The Problem is that the text stays white after you annotate/highlight in dark mode and because of the bright colors of the highlighter it makes it now difficult to read the white letters against the bright color of highlighted annotations. Make the letters black when highlighted. Maybe if underlining could be implemented it would be really good to but that’s my second wish. Great Job Developers!

Sync is broken. Syncing of books to a new phone or across devices does not work. No response from the company’s support.

Best eReader, The Hunt is Over. Amazing application, thank you all so much for your hard work! After switching to MapleReaderSE I haven't felt a single itch or urge to switch ebook readers again. It makes tablet and phone reading a pleasure and feels like the natural companion to Calibre in the eReader ecosystem. My eReader Journey: BluefireReader -> Books(apple) -> Kindle -> Marvin 3 -> FBReader -> MapleReaderSE (for good!)

Favorite ebook reader. This is my favorite non Apple ebook reader. The developer is super responsive too.

Why is there a refresh icon every chapter?. Why on earth is there a loading icon every time you move to the next chapter in a book? Totally distracting and shows a severe lack of polish and coding talent by the dev.

Great App. This is my favorite reading app. I love the customization options, especially the parchment white background setting. It has the extra dimming for night reading. There are several options for night. It provides a very comfortable reading experience. I can use my iPad mini as the server to copy books to my other Apple devices. I love the option to display my books on a wood bookshelf. I had a question and the developers got back to me quickly.

Killing the battery of a new iPad air 5th gen?. Don't get me wrong, the app in general is good but it appears to be killing the battery of my Ipad Air, which is supposed to have about 10 hrs battery life. I am only reading with Mapleread for about 3 1/2 hrs and I am out of juice. System confirms that the only app using my battery is this one.... With other apps including webbrowsing, video etc I nearly get to the advertised hours of battery life.

iPad issues. Normally I love this app very very much however with the latest update I can’t seem to open the app on my iPad I am very reluctant to delete the app and reinstall it because I have a lot of files stored on it and I keep trying to open it and it keeps force closing itself I’ve even restarted the iPad I turned it off and turned it on and it still not working seems to happen every time there’s a major update the iPhone version of this app works perfectly fine there’s always issues with the iPad I can’t even get past the book background to access the settings for this app please fix this ASAP I don’t want to have to re-download all files onto this

Woeful,. Constantly freezes; can’t handle large books; a serious disappointment. Avoid!

Minor issues. I would love to give this app a 4.75. It is the BEST alternative to my previous favourite app for reading ebooks, Marvin. The syncing feature of this app is what requires fixing. Here is an example of where the syncing fails. [As described in the very informative help pages on the website, the same book (i.e. a book with the same ID) must appear on every device for the syncing to work.] I have a book that syncs very well when the following procedure is followed: (1) Click the sync icon on my iPad; (2) Open the same book on my iPhone and click the sync icon. Perfect. The syncing works as it should. Go back to the iPad. Read say twenty more pages. Leave the app on the iPad or simply close the book. Go to the iPhone. Click on the sync icon. NOTHING happens. Why? From what I have worked out, if the sync icon is not clicked when leaving the book on one device, the other device does NOT sync. I would like the developers to ensure that when the app is closed or a switch is made to another app on a device, the sync icon does its job AUTOMATICALLY. Otherwise, the syncing becomes useless if the user forgets to play tag with the sync icon. Marvin had this non-user intervention sync working perfectly. I would strongly recommend this application to users and I hope that the syncing feature is fixed soon. The technical support is also excellent. Quick and detailed replies via email are extremely useful when the user needs help.

Good app, but with a few improvements would be perfect. With KyBook 3 seemingly on the outs, I’ve moved to MapleRead. It’s a good app even it lacks some of the functionality present in KyBook and Marvin. Top of the list is that it’s not configured for an iPhone 11 Max as it doesn’t use the full screen. You also can’t sort your books manually. It would also be nice if the app indicated which books you’d finished reading. The metadata is good, but it would be great if it could collect that information from the web. Also, I’d love it if the metadata included a word count. Overall, though, it’s a good product with plenty of potential.

Overall good, but two strong suggestions to the developers. First off, I like the app overall. I use it with my Calibre library and it works great. I have on occasion used the server function also but not that often. The interface is good but the tagging and organizing of the books in the app is definitely not intuitive. I have done a lot of Human interface design in my career and am confident that with a little work this part of the interface could be greatly improved. My biggest issue is the cloud sync. It doesn’t really fit what I would consider a typical use case for the app. The scenario it needs to handle is ‘the user has been reading a book on their iPad. They head out of the house without the iPad and find they have some time on their hands so they go to their iPHone and pull up the book, but it isn’t synced to their last position because they didn’t consider syncing the book on the iPad the last time they put it down’. Simple solution is to support auto cloud sync. It could be a user preference, but the book position would be updated whenever an appropriate event occurred - e.g., every 15 minutes, when the iPad is put in sleep mode, when the book is closed and another is open. I’m sure there are other events that would also make sense.

Needs a LOT of work. Over-priced, geeky, poor onboard instructions, each book needs to have it's user functions redefined, no FAQ, complex in a bad way, and it only has email support. NOT RECOMMENDED if you are looking for a plug and play app...steep learning curve....still prefer iBooks for all its faults.

Great app.. Love this app. I finally found an ebook reader and server that has cloud syncing options. Great reading options, and has allowed me to put my icalibre catalog on my iPad and sync for my iPhone for reading.

Robust iOS Ebook Reader. Since Marvin hasn’t been updated in years and is slowly decaying Maple Read has become my goto ebook reader, particularly for ePub, and I am transferring my iOS ePub library from Marvin -> Maple Read. The big name reader apps, eg Kindle and Apple Books, are absolutely atrocious and designed to aggressively push app-specific paid content rather than providing a pleasant reading experience and ebook management system. So whenever possible I dispense with the DRM and use Maple Read which is really the only useable iOS ebook reading app that is still updated regularly (RIP Marvin and KyBooks). No major complaints re performance and features but more bulk metadata editing options would be really really useful!

Translate do not work anymore. Recent app updates stoped passing through the word selection to a Google Translate in a pop up. You have to type the selection manually in a popup

Single Column Landscape. I buy DRM free epub tech books. These books have aside sections in them when they will show a command that you might type in on your computer. I have an iPad Pro — nice big screen with a good stand for landscape orientation. When I read my epub tech books in Apple Books, that text in those asides gets cutoff in landscape mode. Really weird because landscape is wider than portrait, but Apple Books INSISTS on putting 2 columns (or pages if you prefer) when in landscape orientation. I just wanted 1 column in landscape. Not Apple Books, or any of the other 6 or so readers I tried from the App Store would let me decide how many columns I wanted. This one did. It gets 5 stars because it’s the ONLY one. You might not agree with my assessment, but when you are trying to understand something technical, and the last detail is just cutoff, the irritation just compounds each time it happens. My search is over, and I can read in peace. Thank you.

margins. Please allow more fonts (user or built in) and margin settings ! Minus two for huge margins on top and sides like on iBooks.

Excellent. This version seems again to do everything an epub reader ought to do.

Horrible.. More expensive than other readers and it does not work. Tried downloading books from Project Gutenberg and only one out of three would open. Tried getting books from Dropbox and it would not import any. It would start to import and then would fail. I tried it on about 20 different books that all work on other readers like Kybook and Marvin. I had high hopes for this app but it was a complete waste of money.

No ICloud or sync support!. This app doesn’t allow you to synchronize books or PDFs from iCloud which made it really inconvenient for me to use.

no longer working after update. I use this app for cookbooks but after the recent update there are many pages missing from books with many subchapters and the search function never leads me to the right place. This app was great but now it’s not really usable. Please fix!

No CBZ support. Can’t read CBZ. A bit complicate app, but the one that was the closest to my need.

Parfait pour mes besoins. Excellente application pour lire et annoter des epub ou des pdf. De plus, l'application permet d'ajouter des livres simplement (sur le même réseau wifi avec un ordinateur).

I share the other recent reviewer’s well-described frustrations. The direct-transfer instructions provided within the app are outdated and non-functional. As that other reviewer noted, iTunes, which is mentioned throughout the instructions as a method of file transfer, is no longer even supported by Apple. And using the “PC Upload method”, when told to go to http://192.168.1.210:8080/ on the source computer, that URL is never found. I was glad to discover someone else had the identical issue, and also that the developer is still indeed supporting the app - but right now, when away from my server, NONE of the methods of transferring an ebook to an iPad appear to be viable. And that’s frustrating. Note: when working correctly, this is a nice app.

A real gem. I finally found a replacement to my favorite epub reader on Android, Moon+ reader! I was specifically looking for a reader that allows me to manually select highlighting colors. This app provides that. Had no idea such a feature existed when i was trying the CX app. I initially decided to buy the full version because of the beautiful font selection & the ability to add custom fonts. Thanks to the developer!

Marvin alternative. I am a reader who uses most app such as kindle and marvin. The mix in maintaining both ePub and mobi/awz3 books are really painful. What disappoint me was marvin decided to abandoned its version 2 thus moving to version 3 not willing to pay for features which seems like nothing much between marvin v2 and v3. Hence I stopped a while using marvin ditching it to kindle. The bad about kindle is there were too much bloat even though I love bookerly font, I understand amazon one of their source of earning from books content publishing. After a while I am tired of converting books from ePub to mobi/aw3. Finding a new ePub reader leads me to yomu reader and mapleread. Using a while time will if this reader is up to standard. Just hoping it could support mobi/aw3 as well.

Issue with image display. As of 2018-07-19, the aspect ratios of images in books are not preserved. Images are stretched unevenly to fit the screen.

Great app. I love the this app. But there’s a problem with the footnote links. I’m using spin from jw.org and there seams to be a problem with the footnotes links o,ly.

Best iPad app for reading epubs. I've used a lot of ebook apps. It seems like all ebook apps break down into 2 types: the ones tied to a big ebook store like Amazon or Kobo, or the ones by small independent developers, like this app. What you usually get with the ones of the second type is more features, and Mapleread does not disappoint. It has a very rich set of features for reading and annotating ebook files and PDFs. Despite the large feature set, it maintains a clean intuitive user interface. And I love the fact I can connect to my Onedrive where my files are kept. With this app for my epub and PDF files, I feel like I have the best app in the store.
