Fantastic App and Even Better Developer. Before the 2.0 update this was still a great simple tamagotchi app with well designed pixelated animals and great looking widgets. Worth supporting if you were a fan of Apollo or had some extra beer money and wanted a pal other than the cat/dog The 2.0 update has stacked this app with features and incredible widgets which are as fun as they are gorgeous. Christian has such a great understanding of how to make an iPhone app look and feel like it belongs on the phone. More iOS developers need to take notes. Once again, Christian has knocked it out of the park!

Pointless Without Dynamic Island. The concept here is pretty good, but the execution is not great right now, particularly if you don’t have a device with the dynamic island. Without the dynamic island, the pets can only live in a widget outside of the app. Since widgets aren’t interactive, and don’t really allow animations, your pet will mostly sit there, unmoving. The experience in the app is extremely limited, at the time of this review. I had a very difficult time figuring out how to interact with the pet at all, and it only lives on the home indicator at the bottom of the screen. You can feed and play with it, but there’s no real interaction after you choose what to feed it, or give it a ball or whatever. I understand this is a port of a feature built for Apollo (the Reddit app), but with the freedom of a dedicated app I expect much more, particularly when a paid subscription is involved. As of this writing, it also doesn’t reliably sync Pixel Pals stats between Apollo and this dedicated app. At least if it could do that I’d be able to enjoy my Pixel Pal in Apollo as well, but since the stats don’t sync, it kinda defeats the point. Overall there’s a ton of potential here, and if you have a device with the Dynamic Island I’m sure the experience is much better, but without it, there’s virtually nothing on offer here. Maybe after a few updates I’ll give this another try, but until then, this was a waste of $10.

Only one thing I don't like. I love this app and I think it's so fun to have a little pet in my dynamic island. Although there has been one thing that has just really been bugging me lately, that being how if you accidentally click on a different pet in the big grid of pets in the app, it completely resets all progress of the pet you were on before. This has happened to me a few times, and I just find it really annoying. I think it would make the app much more enjoyable if there could be some sort of update for this, maybe a save button for the pet you are on, or giving a pop up to confirm switch of pets?

Deletes everything. I absolutely love this app, my brother even got an iPhone so he could have this app, I pay for premium and use it constantly feeding my pets or taking it to places on the widget. The only thing is every single time and I mean EVERY SINGLE time my phone dies… it deletes everything. The names, the progress, the food I’ve harvested, the morphs, the hearts, everything gets deleted. It even took off my subscription that I’m still paying for and I had to re add it. This definitely needs to be fixed because it’s annoying to have to re type in all the times and work hard again to get back to my process. The last time it happened was last month and I never made it back to my progress and it just deleted everything again when my phone died. Please fix this especially because I’m paying 15 dollars for the app. And please add more animals yearly would love a dolphin or some sea creatures.

ZERO STARS. So when I try to open the R app, it's like so unfair. Like you only get to choose from two ugly, ugly, very ugly pets. It's so unfair. Like you have to pay for the rest and like, like zero stars. But it's forcing me to give a star. So I'm just going to give one. It's terrible. Do not. Do not get this game, it's terrible. Unless you want to pay for something unnecessary, you get to choose from one ugly dog or another ugly dog. The pets are very pixelated and some of them are really cute, but I don't recommend it. You have only two ugly pets to choose from. I hope you find this helpful because you'll know what I'm talking about when I go in. So never, never ever and I mean never get this app because you have to pay and if you got it from an advertisement, then I don't know what you can do. Just delete it or report it or something because it's such a scam. It's a total scam. Yeah, never get that app. It's terrible. Pixel Pals widget pet game. Never got it.

Cool idea, nothing much more.. This almost feels like something that should be free. The price is a bit overboard for something that you can experience within 1 minute. There’s not much to do with your Pixel Pal. He doesn’t grow or do anything. You can’t randomize the animations so you need to manually set them each time. The pixel pal app doesn’t seem to connect to my pixel pal in Apollo. So now I have two separate Pixel Pals? I’d expect the Pals to maybe react to things on your phone. Like, when you get a notification why can’t your pixel pal be the one to notify you? I see so many missed opportunities and at a $9.99 a month more features should be there. Cool idea. Feels like a quick cash grab. Would be great if it actually had more function than watching a sprite animate for $9.99 a month. What a joke. Not to mention I encounter numerous bugs within 5 minutes of using the app. It’s kinda garbage.

Very torn. I really loved this app- I’ve had it for about 2 years now and it was wonderful! It was a very fun and cute accessory to my phone. I loved the new widgets in the recent updates. It was a very fun way to pass my time and I love my little pet! However I have an issue where the game automatically resets my pal and removes all my friends. This disappointed me greatly after my pet of over a year disappeared. I’ve had my second pet for a few months and that one just reset as well. I’m tired of spending time building friendship with the pets just for it to reset to the default pet. I tried reaching out via email to see if I could get an answer but I never received a response which was disappointing. It makes me sad to give this app a not-so-great rating because the concept and gameplay is adorable and I really like it! It just makes me so sad to see my poor pets keep disappearing :(

Cute but not enough. Glitches/ money for everything. At first I loved it, but I was not happy to find out about all the purchases you would need to make in order for a better experience. To get more food (cost money) to get a different pet (cost money). My pixel pal is super cute, I have to dog (since u can either get a cat or dog), but I’m sad that I have to pay money for any other pet. Now the money is not the biggest issue,bc I have been experiencing many glitches within a few days of having it. Glitches as to where he would not follow the wand, the ball would not show up and he would be sliding across the bar as if he was the ball and then falling asleep and not even giving a heart, and not letting me feed it carrots. I still have the dog bc I want him but I wish for this app to make changes to enhance the experience.

Having to charge people for their own pets. I just want to see my my my character and I want to change it to axolotl and the game doesn’t let me you should not charge me for using something. I just want to be a cute pet and axolotl and you have me having a text and I can’t even see it and I can’t even change the name. I want the name to be Hugo I want, but I want I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really want you guys to not charge people forstuff and and I really want to pet axolotl and I want to be able to change the name I give you five stars but I wish you didn’t charge people. I might give you a lower score than that.

Allow us to SAVE our pets!. 5/2/25 and the problem still exists. The Devs already know what I’m about to say because people have been saying it for over a year. I just purchased my new phone recently and I never heard of a Dynamic Island prior to that. This app was one of my first ways to have fun with the island and it reminds me of the old handheld pets from when I was a kid. Cool. PROBLEM IS, I bragged about this game to my girlfriend who really sank a lot of effort into her pets only to have them completely deleted TWICE. First time wasn’t that bad but the second time she had maxed out stars on her pet, morphs unlocked and all. RESET because her phone died. We both pay for this game (I have a Lion, she has an Axolotl). Now I feel guilty for still playing because if my phone dies, I know I’ll lose everything. I’m only setting myself up to be very upset with no backup feature. Make it to where we can save pets. People have been asking for over a year now!

Unfortunately buggy for iPad. As an avid Apollo user, I was excited to check out this app after the shutdown. I had never really bothered with the Pixel Pals feature baked into Apollo, but figured it was worth a shot anyway. I had no interest using this app on my iPhone, since I like to keep a minimal home screen, but figured this app would be perfect for my iPad, since widgets there aren’t required to have an eye-searing label telling you the name of the app under them. Upon installing the app, I was disappointed to see that most of the features were locked behind a subscription, but figured it was worth paying the couple bucks to check it out, at least. However, I ran into a few bugs that soured the experience for me. Unfortunately, while the photo background feature works fine, the “transparent” background seems to be completely borked on iPad. I tested it on my iPhone and it worked just fine, so I’m not sure why it wouldn’t at least try to apply the background. Additionally, I could never get certain information widgets (particularly Four Square) to work properly. Bugs aside, I wish there was a little more to do with the pets. I don’t expect a full Nintendogs-style pet sim but at least having something to do with them aside from looking at them would be nice, especially since the app is using a paid subscription model. Ultimately, I wanted to like this app a lot more than I did, and assuming that some of these issues can be fixed, I would love to put my Pixel Pal back on my home screen.

So cute!! Very minor issues. I got this app because of the pixel pals added onto the iphone 14 and was jealoussss! I never write app reviews but this app is brand new so I’d like to take my time to do a first impression review and list my personal pros and cons about the new app. Pros: - super cute and works great! - haven’t found any weird unfixable glitches or bugs so far - perfect for those who want pixel pals without getting a whole new phone Cons: Purchases and small bug: - you only have access to the cat and dog. If you want the other animals you have to pay either monthly or annually. As of right now they have a little sale for the prices so I was able to pay $10 for a year instead of the usual $15 - if you get premium, restart your phone to access the other animals in widgets. If you don’t a text will appear saying to buy the premium instead of your little buddy. This may be a bug but a fix is as simple as restarting your phone! Personally preferences: -pixel pal only shows in this app or on widgets, not always on your phone while using other apps like on the iphone 14 (i have a 13 pro) -they are super small on the app which I think they could be a little bigger but cute none the less! Other than that I have no complains! I tested out transparency backgrounds and it works perfect, super easy to set up. I hope this review helps and if I encounter any issues I will update!

Amazing and cute! However,. I’ve honestly had a great time while using this app. The widgets are fun and I added my friends, which was also cool because in the widget, you can see your friends pet! I thought that was awesome. Also the taking care of your pet unlocks morphs was amazing<3 I choose the free cat (Hugo) and named him “Remi”—-however my phone died after it was at low battery for awhile the day after, and I’m not sure if it’s related or not but it’s almost like every in the app reset, my pet was changed back to Hugo and I lost the morph I got, like my entire progress was reset, and i didn’t have my friends friended on there anymore. I’m not sure if it was a glitch with the app or something that happened on my side. Have a good day/afternoon/night though and thank you for reading this.

Too much behind paywall. I’m coming from the Apollo app shutdown, and to try and support the developer I decided to give pixel pals a try. Seems like a cool app, worth giving it a chance — and that’s all it got from me. Immediately after launching the app, it tried to push premium on me, a $15 yearly subscription. I wasn’t interested, so I closed it and navigated around the app. And wow, so much of the advertised functionality is behind this premium paywall. You only get two pets for free, and to have any sort of dynamic background, a feature that’s heavily promoted in the app, well that’s behind premium. I would love to support the app for a one-time payment of maybe $5 or $10, but I can’t justify a subscription, much less one that more or less gives the app 80% of its charm/functionality. A shame but at least I gave it a try.

Cute, want pal above the island outside app. Super cute, I love the details that already exist. I wish the pal could stay above the island instead of being moved to the black island when not in the app. I personally would love to keep it above the island when the phone is vertical then have it jump inside the island when the phone is horizontal. I'd also love to have interactions take place outside of the app when iniation starts outside of it. it would be nice to have more pal interactions that would make it like a tamagotchi. I'd pay extra for any addition or to beta test additional features to see if they'll function smoothly. 😊

Adorable app!! But…. Don’t me wrong..this is such an adorable idea for the new phones, they look cute on your island! But mine doesn’t stay on my island at all times it stays for maybe 15-20 minutes then I have to go back into the app so it will go back on(I have always stay on island on, there’s just no difference) Another thing is I wish more of the other animals were free or at least a little less(really liked the otter) the animals that aren’t free cost $13/a year or $2/ a month, I would much rather spend like $5 or even $10 to keep them forever and I feel like more people would feel the same way and I’m sure more money would be brought in if the people actually got to keep them forever instead of having to buy monthly or yearly. That is just my personal opinion, thank you for reading☺️

Nice, but bugs need to be fixed! 🔧. This is a very cute and fun app to have, but if you don’t have an iPhone that has Dynamic Island, then you have to either have the widget or be in the app but that’s fine. The only reason I am rating this only four stars are because of the major bugs that need to be fixed! For example, every time your phone shuts down or restarts, it resets ALL your progress, including the name, pet, love meter, hunger (but not the farm for some reason), and live activity. Also, sometimes after you shut down, the monsters on the widget are just frozen 🥶. There are also tiny bugs but those are fine.

Sooo, i had this app before and i didnt really like it and couldnt figure out how to use it. i saw an ad tho and realized that pixel pals had a HUGE glow up! its sooo fun having lil wiggles the cat on my dynamic island and on my home screen! i also luv how you can feed him and play with him! sooo cute! like a little tamagotchi on your phone! i totally recommend!!! <3333 ............................................ update: i loved my pet little wiggles the cat and i took care pf him all day by feeding and playing. i restarted my phone to put on a new screen protector and wiggles is gone. all i have is stupid hugo. all my friends are gone on the app. am very upset and really hope i can get wiggles back. :(( R.I.P. 🩵Wiggles💙................................................... another upd: It happened to my friend too. i think its happening bc our phones are reastarting bc her phone died and her progress was lost too. really hope this can be resolved. :(( R.I.P. It’s so adorableee 😭. Oh god where do I start- mkay so the widgets are INTERACTIVE! You can have a little game console widget on your Home Screen where you can feed the lil thing and play multiple games and do activities that are SO CUTEEEE! Also, one thing I wish they would change is the coloring on the console? Some of them are kinda ugly- like I kinda wish there were more options BUT I’m not gonna complain, because that’s not really that much of a big deal :3 Would HIGHLY recommend if you want a lil buddy to play with on ur phone :p

Just a few things to fix. You guys should probably add a reminder when the free trial ends. Many apps have the courtesy of letting you know when the free trial is over so it won’t charge you like it did to me. I understand it’s not your responsibility but it would be very appreciated. Also it can get very annoying to play since everytime I tap the widgets it takes me straight to the app, I just want to be able to play in peace without having to exit the app every 5 taps. Another thing the friend invitation doesn’t really work, my friend and I have tried playing together and it never seems to work, we can never find each other. And one last thing, fighting can get very frustrating when every few taps it again takes you to the main app. Just constructive criticism since the app charged me almost $15 and it’s no different then the free trial besides that I can change characters.

Cute game, Horrible design. I downloaded this app because I thought it was so cute with the customization options. My pixel pal got stuck and the app wouldnt work, so I restarted my phone. Upon restarting my phone, it erased ALL of my progress. Lost all my morphs and even the characters in general, just gone. I renamed one pal to see if it would happen again, and I restarted my phone a second time. Second time erased everything again. Really sad because I was enjoying it until I figured out theres practically no point to it because everything gets erased the second your phone is off. I looked it up on reddit and many others have had the same issue. Dont download this app, because then youll just be sad like me.

I love this app but the custom photo has a glitch. When I try to upload new custom photos I can only remove the first one I've added. So I have to delete photos one at a time, in chronological order from oldest to newest. It looks like I should be able to scroll down, but I can't. I thought it would get fixed but it hasn't and it's been almost a year. I save a lot of photos and exclusively use the custom photo for my pixel pal so it's getting extremely frustrating to have to search through months of photos to reupload ones I liked after deleting all the photos up to one I am okay with deleting. Also I sometimes upload a photo and it looks terrible so I have to reframe it or upload a new one, so I have to delete all the photos to get rid of the bad ones since it starts from the oldest. I'm on an iphone 8, always with the most recent update, if that information helps with addressing this issue.

Tamagotchi but on your phone!. Absolutely adorable little tamagotchi-like app that I adore! The mini-games are fun as well, I especially like that we can battle our friends. Overall a super cute little app with a very affordable subscription, but set up can be a bit difficult. The problem is the UI isn’t very intuitive for set up and too much of the widget screen just pops the app (and ads for purchase/subscription) back up. Setting up your pet, especially changing the name, is a hassle too. My hope is that the next update will remedy this because I adore the app and would like to recommend it to some of my less tech-savvy friends!

Love!!! Only one problem. I love the new update and all the things!!!!! My one and only complaint, if you tap too fast (on the infinite scroll for example) it opens up the app which is extremely frustrating. I kinda like the idea of the infinite scroll for when my brain wants stimulation from my phone but I don’t want to get stuck doom scrolling social media. I could just infinite scroll until I think of something better to do. But I absolutely would want to hit that button as fast as possible to see how quickly/how far little dude can go. Which is impossible when the app keeps opening and kinda makes it unusable at the moment:/ but I really really like the idea and hopefully this isn’t something too complicated to fix (I know sometimes these seemingly simple things can actually be very annoying to change behind the scenes).

Was cute before update, now even better. Before this recent update, all you got for free was just the virtual pet gif that kind just drifted around its little box. Was very mediocre and not unique. But now??? Holy cow I love this thing. It’s like a little tamagotchi on your phone, I freaking love it. I made a virtual version of my cat and I love how many options there are for interactions. They also added a ton of other widgets, the infinite scroll I don’t really understand, but the world explorer widget is so cute and fun. The pixel art has been upgraded and is so much cuter now, so much more detail. I freaking love this thing, AND THANK YOU FOR MAKING IT FREE. Love it, very rarely you find an app you really like that isn’t constantly trying to squeeze a couple bucks outta you. Good on this app, well done. Only thing I don’t like that if you tap the screen too fast it will open up the app asking for money. Super annoying, especially for the infinite scroll game and the world explorer, like you want to move faster than 1 square a move but if you tap too fast it opens up the app and makes the game go away, super annoying.

Missing Apollo already. This is probably the only review for an app that I will ever write. I’ve been a Reddit user for nearly a decade now and the only time I’ve been on there consistently is when using the Apollo app. I honestly feel like I’ve lost part of my community by losing it. The Reddit interface is so poorly designed and populated by ads that it is no longer worth it to me to be a user. Thank you Christian for all that you’ve done and I’m glad I could at least carry over my pixel pals to my main screen.

Definitely needs some pricing adjustments but im biased. Got this app because the developer created Apollo. The idea of a cute interactive virtual pet is fun! The price point is I’d say is unrealistic. Now i’m no expert on what a virtual screensaver like pet should cost but 15 dollars per year or 2 dollars per month is not worth it to me. The pets are varied and cute with some level of interaction that I can only speculate about with the free version (which only gives you a basic widget and nothing else) This app is still getting a like from me since its the same developer as Apollo so I’m definitely biased but I hope it makes a one time purchase option. That or allow a little more interact-ability on the free version to learn a little more about it. Especially since the competitor app Pixel Pets allows more options in the free option and a one time purchase option for just 10$

Dynamic Island. Apps very awesome everything about it is spontaneous. I just have one thing more like an idea I know there’s an option to always show on the island but instead of a floating animation in the island I think it’s be better if it’s constantly running around up there not only when you’re on the opened app ya feel me? and long press to feed and watch it eat while being on your Home Screen. and maybe play idk how the wand would work but definitely when feeding and playing with a ball I would say.

Lovely app, but with a very annoying bug!. Heya! I’ve been using this app for a while now, and I love how many fun things you can do with it! In particular, the little activities you can do with your pet, like going to the gym, are really fun, and the language learner (which I use with Spanish) is surprisingly nice! ok but why does it have to have 2048 I am now completely obsessed with the game HELP *cough cough* Anyway, I have noticed that a VERY annoying bug happens when my phone runs out of battery- my pixel pal, the cat, is almost completely reset! I say “almost” because, for the first two or so times, the crops I had planted in my farm and, subsequently, the food I got from them, were still there! With the first bug instance, my original cat still had its crops there b/c I had planted them before the loss of charge. Between the first and second instances, I harvested those crops, and then had them after the second wipe - but not the third one! This has happened around 6 times now, over the last few months, with the last 2 happening yesterday. This was a minimal problem for me, since I hadn’t developed a strong emotional attachment to my pet, and I hadn’t spent any money on things like food bundles. But for people who have done either of those things, this could be a MAJOR problem! Please look into this!

Sooooo cute!! But one thing…. This app is AWESOME!!! If u can’t buy a pet for any reason but u want a pet pixel pals is literally a pet but on ur phone! U can feed ur pet, play with them, and even link up ur pet with ur friends pet!! And if u link up and put a widget on ur screen u can see ur pet and ur friends pet! U can also fight other pets on the widget! But there’s just one thing, you don’t get to choose which pet you get, you have to pay for all the others if u ever update the app can u please put in more pets for free? But other than that, the app is awesome!

It’s good, don’t get me wrong! …. …I really do like what you’re going for, and it’s VERY interactive too. It functions like I intended, and is a very niche idea. However, I do have a few suggestions. To start, there are only two free pets. The rest require a subscription. I do wish to see more created pets (or pre-existing ones) go free of charge. I also do want to see a feature that allows to recolor your pet. This feature is for those who have a phone that has an “aesthetic” to it. One last idea is that some of the widgets (e.g. Weather, Clock, etc…) can have a few styles. Three should be enough. For ones with text, the text can be the device’s default, or pixelated. You may not have time for all the features, so just focus on what you can do. Wish the best for the app!!

Would like more free options. First things first I do like this game. It is a super cute accessory for my phone! But I have an Axolotl Irl (pink dirty face named Noodle if anyone cares🤣) And I was really exited to have a virtual version of her on my phone! But nope. I have to pay to have a lil dinky Axolotl on my phone. I feel you should be able to have a few more options or all of them to be free. Or (I know people won’t agree with me) but to watch an ad or two (possibly more) to get the pal of your choice! I would give this more stars after I explore the game a bit more but it’s just a little bit frustrating for me. This has a ton of potential but I wish it was more affordable. Fix this and I will happily consider not deleting. Thank you for reading! 🫶 Edit: I wish I could play and feed my pet from the Home Screen rather than going back to the app. I also feel the opening screen to the app is overwhelming and flashy. I know I am being critical but please fix these! Edit 2: morph. I unlocked a morph for kit (Hugo) and I don’t know how to access it. If it is a premium bonus I don’t see why it should be. Please make this more accessible I am not very happy with the game(I have grown attached to kit so I’m keeping it😅😂)this was ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Now I think it falls at a ⭐️⭐️1/2 so pretend it is😅 3 okay still two and one half but WHY CAN YOU ONLY ACSES (I know it’s spelt wrong🤫MORPH THROUGH WIDGETS!!!??? My friend is a bigminimalist so she doesn’t love widgets she ended up deleting the app. I hate how this works and the only reason I’m keeping it is cuz Kit looks like my Cat and I love her 😅😂

Cute! However…. Downloaded for funsies because it looked like a very cute thing to add to my Dynamic Island, however, when trying to interact with the pet like feed and play, it wouldn’t let me. If this is a thing you have to pay for I wasn’t aware because I’m silly. Since it wasn’t working I tried to uninstall and it literally would not let me! I held down to delete it from the app search, wouldn’t let me. I tried to move it to my Home Screen to uninstall from there, wouldn’t let me move it. When I held down it didn’t even give me the option to uninstall. Then it just disappeared from my phone, looked at the App Store and it says it’s downloaded but it’s gone. Not in app search, not in apps through settings, it’s just gone but still on my phone? Now I’m scared lol. Maybe my phone is just weird, but just in case it’s not just wanted to leave a review. Sorry devs!

Resets progress but thank you for bringing joy to everyday tasks. Edit: I love this app so much but I’m really sad that this app isn’t stable. It seems to reset all progress if you turn on/off your phone or reset your phone at all. There’s also some issue with Using the widget itself. It also opens the actual app way too easily and too often when playing through the widget. Overall happy that it’s free and cute (and no data collection), but has some functionality issues. ____________ First of all, huge props to the developer for not collecting any data. 👏 In this day and age where everything costs you either your money or your soul, or both, this is a big treat packaged in a small box. I love that it’s free for basic use and adds joy to daily use of your phone. Thank you for making the dog-eat-dog tech world a little brighter with something so kind and simple.

Very cute with minor bugs. I really love this! I have premium and I have an entire screen dedicated to widgets for pixel pals (weather over the week, weather over the day, monthly calendar, and quote of the day). There have been bugs, but they’ve been fixed. The only bug I’ve encountered that hasn’t been fixed so far is that I’ve set one of my pals to sleep and stay in the bottom left corner, but it seems to still switch and move around. It’s sort of annoying because I can’t fully read the quote because the pal will be in the way. Also, there’s no place to report a bug directly from the app (you have to send an email).

It's nice, but it's not Apollo. Was hoping the ability to feed/play with the pet would happen on the phone's island or widget without opening the app, but it does not seem to do so. I long press to feed and it opens the app itself. Furthermore if I close the app, the pet stops eating. I don't seem to be able to interact at all without opening the app. It's cute to have him on the screen, but it seems like that's all I can do. I also wish this app had some one-time purchases, so I could support the dev without a subscription--even if it only unlocked something small.

Hasn’t been reliable enough to pay for. I tried the premium features during a trial. The information backgrounds were hit or miss, mostly miss. They wouldn’t load, and if they did, they wouldn’t update. I had a calendar + time medium widget that went two days without updating. Most would just be a beige or blank tile with no pet. Hardly got any chance to use the trial. I love the design, the information backgrounds, and the Pixel Pals themselves. I hope there are new pets too (maybe a Polar Bear?). When the bugs get worked out, I’ll gladly pay for premium. The information backgrounds are useful and there are lots of design options. As it stands, however, the broken premium features takes it down a couple stars.

A nice accessory. I’ve been looking for a widget pet for a while now that is easy to check on and this is it. On most other apps you have to open the app and physically take care of the pet and watch adds to get food and I really don’t want a care pet game more so than just a cute widget add on. I usually don’t write reviews but I figured if I was looking for something that take seconds to take care of and is just overall not much of a care game than someone else probably is too. While the car is super easy there is a decent bit to do that keeps me coming back if I am in more of a mood to care for it for a longer period of time than needed. It’s the little things that matter and this game keeps me coming back because you don’t just log on to bathe and feed it and have 3 adds littered between all of those to get the items necessary for it. If you don’t feel forced to pay your more apt to do it and I probably will.

Loses progress every time phone turns off, way too many premium pop ups. I spent a whole week raising my pet, only to have my phone turn off and I find out the pet’s gone. All my progress, gone. I don’t know how to get it back, but I’m certainly not wasting more time if there’s no way to back up and save my pet data. Thank goodness I found out at a week and not longer. I’d be even more upset with the time I wasted. I found Reddit threads with the same issue dating back to 2023. It’s almost 2025. Why is there no workaround or feature for restoring in the app? Also, it was way too easy to trigger the app launch from the widget. And when the app showed up, the premium pop ups were just way too intense and way too easy to trigger. Just let me play this game on free. If I want premium, I will go get premium. I’m not going to forget it exists, so stop having it pop up every app start. It gives off the vibe that all you care about is getting money. At least give me the option to hide the premium pop up for future app starts. Sometimes I just want to open the app so I can play Beacon Ball or use the wand. So sad, I wanted to enjoy this game, but now I will be deleting it.

Read before download. This game is great, but there are a few complaints from me. The first complaint is that you have to pay to get other pet pets make them free because what if nobody likes the game that much anymore because there’s only two pets to choose from the second reason is you have to pay to get better widgets and play mini games and all that when there’s already an app that can do that for free the third complaint is some of the widgets that you have to put a picture inside does not work so if you’re looking forward to having all of these things happen to you then go ahead and download the game if you don’t then never play this!

Suuuuuuuper buggy right now. Edit to 3*- After the most recent updates, it looks like the subscription bug is fixed. I’m personally still having syncing issues between Apollo and Pixel Pals, where it’s not showing the right pet or stats. However, it’s light years better than it was when it released. It’s actually working smoothly aside from the syncing issue. There’s still the concern of losing all of our food and progress from Apollo usage, and I haven’t heard if that will or can be rectified. At least the food… That was a LOT to lose. We’re losing the Pals that we have already grown through Apollo, losing the food that’s been gained, losing all of our stats, and there’s issues with the subscription process. It’s just bug laden right now. I know it will get fixed, but for the time being, I’ve gotta give it 1 star. Definitely wait for another update if you’ve already put time in to Pixel Pals via Apollo. Even if you haven’t, I would still wait so you don’t have a headache with the subscription issue.

Worth more than a soda!!. I love this app. And forget what everyone else says about it being even slightly unaffordable. Even after inflation, it is still the equivalent of one soda at the store. And that’s a month’s worth of customizable fun in Pixel Pals. A very affordable version of Tamagotchi. You have also included fun extra mini games like trivia, language learning, and 2048. Phenomenal!! (But my daughter lost all her progress when the app glitched and she had to renew the purchase. Can that be fixed when you have time?

Some thoughts and request!. I like the creative design and it’s a really cool app, simple easy to use and figure out. I just would like to select and purchase the bat without the paying for premium feature I don’t want to use and more than likely never use, and if possible could y’all add exotic pets? Like a scorpion ( my first top recommendation) or sugar gliders and stuff like that and maybe a cool idea maybe give animals/creatures based on horoscopes, have seen that yet and I’m sure would make this app even more popular! For now I guess I’ll settle for the dog lol thanks for reading if y’all do!

Great app but widget issues. Hi, I would like to say first of all that this app is very good. The interactive widgets are awesome! I would recommend to people customizing their device (phone in my case) and you don’t even have to show the pet. Although, I noticed if the widget is the smallest size widget, if you set a photo background it won’t show up. And when I try to set a transparent background, it will ask for setting the transparency type. It is already set for me, and I’ve tried a lot of things but it isn’t working. I have an IPhone 16. Could you please fix this? But overall, the widgets are fun and the pets are cute. Thank you for reading!

Great use of the Dynamic Island. Christian is known for making wonderful, useful, intuitive apps (like Apollo…RIP) and this app is no exception. He made it super easy to pick any pixel pal you want (of which there are many), name it, and it’ll hang out in the dynamic island waiting for you to interact with him/her while you go about your day - you can feed it, play games together, or just scroll the web and other apps and your little buddy is right there with you in the dynamic island the whole time. I’m looking forward to watching this app mature but it’s already really wonderful, and with Christian at the helm I’m sure it’ll only get even better with time.

It was okay. All the good thing cost money which was annoying and the only pixel pal you could use was a cat and dog and they were kinda ugly in my opinion but I don’t really recommend this app a lot but I use the cat because it more cute then the dog and I liked how to cat sleep and walk around my phone and everything I do recommend but at the same time I don’t recommend it like in the middle you can get the app for cuteness but the biggest bummer is that all the good stuff cost money and everything and I know the creators are trying to make money but like the only things that doesn’t cost money is the cat and dog so something I want to say to the creators is can you try not to like only make two things that are free and try more thing that are free thank you.

Sad that the old version is completely gone. I got this app well over a year ago to have a cute widget on my iPhone 13+ phone and immediately became obsessed. I paid for premium because I wanted the hedgehog, and up until now I have had the wide widget of him with the transparent background on my phone to just stare at and feed from time to time. Well, my phone crapped out (defective battery) and I had to immediately file a claim with my insurance to get a new one. I guess I wasn’t on the most recent update because the widget got a complete face lift. It was showing up as a white block on my screen until I clicked on it and then I saw why. Totally whomped up features and options. Very cool! My pet became a tomagachi on my screen and while it is very cute it’s not what I bought the original version for (and on top of that, no option to make the console pink. Seriously?) But anyways, I liked having my cute pet dance around the middle of my screen during the day and the aesthetic of the small animal on my background. When I went to edit the widget to make this happen, I discovered that the only option that still resembles this is to have the small widget size with my pet being blown up to the size of a whole app. The rest of the options are neat, but I’m kind of devastated? That sounds dramatic, but I did pay premium for a specific app that is now a completely different app and I had my pet on my screen for a pretty long time. I can appreciate all the new features, but why completely get rid of the version I actually paid for? I don’t understand why I can have my pet dance all over the daily forecast or my phone battery but not just dance around on a blank background. It was relaxing to watch my pet just hang out during the day without also staring at the time or the weather. I hope that with the next update comes the features the app originally came with. I don’t see how it could be much trouble with all the other fancy stuff going on. For now, I’ll be cancelling my subscription and checking back to see if I can have my pet back to normal again. I will remember to give the app a 5 star review if y’all add the old feature back since not doing that last time cost me the version I like.

Really Awesome, a couple things though (updated to 3). Hi! I recently got the app and loved it immediately. The cat (Hugo) looked exactly like my cat at home! However, the first thing I see when I open the app is the chance to buy premium. I don’t think much of it, and look for the button to close the screen. Now, I’m not sure if this is just my (discontinued) iPod Touch’s fault, but the top part was completely cut off, so if there was a close button, I wouldn’t have seen it! I had to forcequit the app just to add the cat to my screen. After that, it was smooth sailing except for the fact that anytime I opened the app, it kept asking me to rate it! Like, once in a while is fine, but after I was gone for literally 5 seconds? Not cool. Eventually, I decided to just hit the button and write a review, when I saw in the description that I can change the name of my pet. Again, not sure if this is my device’s fault, but I could not figure out how to do this. Finally, I noticed that the actions are basically the same thing. Walk and run are the same, as well as lie down and crouch. Only sleep is unique, and the only difference between that and lie down is the Z’s that float from the pet’s head. Anyway, that’s why I gave it 3 stars. Overall an amazing app, just a few bugs that need to be worked out!

It’s ok. Hello! I was looking for an online pet because I was bored, I chose this app because it looked good quality, and it is, but i can’t seem to figure out the transparent widget, it won’t work for me and the instructions on how to get it are confusing, I also don’t like how as soon as I opened the app I got a question about premium, the app also asks about rating it a lot, I don’t mind it but it can get annoying after a while, Hugo (cat) is adorable though and love that he dances at the bottom of my screen! But he’s only there in the app, I don’t know if I also have to set that up too, or if it’s just for the app, but other than all that, it’s pretty awesome!

Cheddar died along with my phone :(. Was really enjoying it, it was just a phone tamagotchi with widgets, the widgets look cute but I only use the Dynamic Island. Pros: it’s cute, I like the variety of things you can do with your pet(activities), the fights are fun with some unique dialogue, overall simple and cute. Cons: Every time you accidentally double tap or tap a little too fast, the app opens with the page to pay for premium. Okay, a little annoying but whatever. The free version just gives you either the cat or the dog, okay fair, however somewhat misleading when you first try it thinking you get more than two options but fine. The big thing: It literally deletes your entire progress, all the food you grew, all the morphs you’ve done, the name, etc. just straight hard reset if your phone dies. No option to recover, not even a message to tell you what happened, I had to look through the reviews to figure out what happened. Really just killed it for me, I’m deleting this app and probably going to find a different one that doesn’t kill your pet.

Limited. I don’t really understand the thought process of the developers of this app. The app includes a bunch of random game widget screens with pretty dynamic backgrounds (the games suck/aren’t games more like a npc walking around a map) and yet the actual widget your pet sits on is just a grass field from a top angle.. it is the worst looking widget pet background I’ve ever seen. And there’s no option to change it.. but they have all the backgrounds loads of other backgrounds .. that you can bring up but you can’t actually interact with your pet on them ……all the cute pets are hidden behind a paywall of $22, which is utterly ridiculous! I wouldn’t even pay that much for a good game let alone this. The battle function is completely pointless once you get up to a certain level you just stop levelling up, but you still get these things coming on your screen ruining the look of the app even more…

Is this worth a subscription?. Christian, I’m an Apollo Pro and Ultra user. I paid for Apollo because I actively believe that it’s something that’s worth paying for. The subscription model makes sense in Apollo because I understand that it requires a server for constant upkeep that needs to be paid for somehow. I fail to see how this app, as cute as it is, makes itself worth a subscription. It doesn’t need constant upkeep, and would be much better off as a one time purchase because of that.

So cute. Nothing motivates me to stay organised more than a cat calendar.

Potential!. Hey! This is a pretty sweet app! With some tweaking, this can legit be Tamagotchi 2.0! Virtual pets running on the iOS widgets is such a great idea and I’m liking it a lot so far! I don’t want to be “that” guy, but I’m going to toss a few ideas out that the developers have probably already thought of. Creative criticism and idea time: - Have the pixel pal permanently overlayed on the bottom bar of the UI. (I’m assuming this is what the scrolled together tracker is meant for.) So that the pixel pal is always just doing it’s own thing in and out of apps, overlayed on top permanently. I’m no coder, but I think it’s certainly possible. - Don’t just limit yourselves to animals of this earth! Aliens, robots, monsters, ghosts (especially for seasonal sales 😉 Halloween, xmas, international walk like a zombie day… The content is near endle$$!) - When in the app, I can only view my pixel pal at the bottom, which is fine, however the screen is all buttons and settings. Possibly dedicate the pixel pal to be front and center with some small icons for bringing up menus and settings. Like how Digimon or tamagotchi’s had their home screens set up on those physical devices. Just a thought ;) - Hats. Not even kidding. Once this picks up in popularity, sell hats for the pixel pals. You will have to edit the sprites, but if you sell a hat for a cat, people will buy it. Look at the game company Valve and what they did with hats. It’ll print you money. Once you add a small amount of customization, people will go crazy for it. Anyway, best of luck and well done with the app!! I’ll keep an eye out for the updates to see how this develops 😁

Great app😃. This cute little widget game is phenomenal I love it. There is a problem with my game though. My game is set to where I am IRL but when I wake up in the morning my pet refreshes because it thinks it is somewhere else like America so it dies from getting hungry or something. And it sleeps in the day and doesn’t at night. So if you can please fix that thank you. But there are slight things I recommend too. 1: add some more things that you can do or get without premium. Because some players like to play free games. 2: add some more widgets and things to do in the actual app. 3: make adding friends easier for players and in the app and the widget show all there friends. Because it took me a long time to get my friend but I didn’t know if I had him because I couldn’t see his name on there But it is a great app highly recommend thank you bye!😀

Great app. Usually I'm too lazy to give reviews but I feet that I really needed to write This. This game was really fun and easy to play. Other than paying for the extra pets, the game was fun. You could interact with your pets,figet with stuff and put stuff like calendars and countdowns on your widgets. I definitely recommend this app.

Very cool. Needs small improvements. The app is great and was the original. The pals don't show up regularly in the dynamic Island and the widget says things like "it is half past twelve" when it is half past 11 but beyond that would be worth the cost if patched.

you guys really cant complain about the subscription. the app is great, a few bugs here and there, and the fact that i can’t open the menu to feed the pets or anything with my iphone SE, but other than that great app. i see quite a few bad reviews here saying it isnt worth it and stuff, if you don’t want it, don’t get it, but its 20 bucks a year are yall really that poor?

Hooray, more subscriptions.. This app does one thing (display a tiny pixel animal on your screen) and it does it okay. Is it worth a monthly cost? Of course not. Could it be worth the cost in the future? Maybe, with huge improvements. When you have apps such Widgetsmith where the subscription cost gets you access to weather data, or Themify where it’s paying for a lot of customisation, the cost of this seems much too high.

It’s cool but could be a lot better!. I can’t wait for the day they have tamagotchi style games on the iPhone. I want to hatch my pet from an egg, have it grow through different life stages, and get different characters depending on how you take care of it. that’s the most fun and exciting part of virtual pet games. This one is just a raccoon on my island. The app’s interface is okay but could also be a lot better.

Good. So far it has been good but i think they should add a few more pets for the free because lots of things are premium and for people who dont have it its quite annoying.

Cute and useless.. This has great potential but no real substance as yet. A widget that only ever shows the tail end of the "pet" frozen off the edge of the screen whenever I go past it, and also a "pet" to visit in the app, feed, and play ball with.... And that's it. It might be fun if you could use it out of the app, or if the little tiny animal did anything, but as it is it's not worth it. I look forward to when it does something.

reeeeally cute. It definitely cures my boredom, however sometimes there are difficulties when i try to interact with the widgets. There are bugs which are very annoying as I have to wait for a couple moments until the bug disappears. Overall, really good and creative!

Would be better if it’s free. It’s okay but not worth it. If I want a Tamagotchi I would get one from a toy store and I can choose the animal I want and cost me only a battery to replace.

Yeah nah. So let me get this straight. CONSTANT advertising to upgrade to premium, yet the product doesn’t even work correctly? Maybe work all that out before making people pay? This app has so many odd bugs and things that make it annoying to use, why on Earth would someone pay for that?

Great Little App. It looks like there were some bugs in the initial release that made a bunch of the features not work, but they have since been fixed. For free, you get all the features with the cat & dog like feeding, the little games and Live Activities/Widgets. The paid subscription is there to unlock the other animals, and also to support the developer. It’s a great little app with a feature or two that aren’t available in the Apollo app version (like transparent background on the desktop widget) Definitely recommended if you want a little Tamagotchi pet in a few different places on your phone.

Please fix your app. It’s a fun lil app me and my partner have to play, but my data has been erased twice now. I’ve sent an email to support and had no response. It’s a shame that after releasing the app they haven’t invested more time to fix it. Play at your own risk.

I really wanted to love this app but anytime you double tap on one of the widgets or the Dynamic Island, it opens up the app. I literally opened it so many times by mistake that I couldn’t take it anymore. I was willing to pay for premium but it’s way, way too easy to open the app by mistake. Specially when widgets are supposed to be interactive, how can you have it so that double tap opens the app?

So Adorable but Disappointed. This is the 3rd time now… I lost my progress… I bought the subscription and somehow every few days, my pal “resets” and I lost all my progress. It is actually very frustrating, given that I actually paid for the subscription… Not happy.

Fix App. Everyone I restart my phone I lose Pal heart progress so i am deleting the app until this is fixed. i even subscribed to use other pals but i am sadly leaving because it does not save progress and it is frustrating because i want to have all pals fully morphed but cannot unless i never restart my phone…

Scam. $20 a month to unlock additional features such as more pals. When the app barely works in the first place. I’m sick and tired of all these apps forcing you to pay money for extras. When the app doesn’t work well in the first place. The app is really not worth it at all, seemed really neat at first. Then that hype dies down quickly. The app also needs to be opened every time. Just show you can see your pal.

Great app, Where did my progress go???. Great app I downloaded it yesterday the next day all my progress gone. Pet gone. Friends gone! Idk if it’s cause my iPad is a 6th gen or it’s just me

Slow and Progress disappeared. Very slow when you click on buttons so it’s time consuming just waiting for action. The app randomly reset all my progress on my pet, everything I worked for is gone. I didn’t do anything to my phone or delete the app, it’s just gone? I’ve noticed that a LOT of other people’s pet disappeared so I wouldn’t get the app unless you’re expecting your progress to disappear. The creators so far haven’t said anything about it or answer anyone else’s questions on why they disappeared. It’s disappointing because I had so much love for this but its apparent that it was worth nothing.

Subscribe. Pixel pals works great. Only 3 stars because screw subscriptions. I would gladly purchase this app, but I’m not paying you monthly.

It’s calm. The games good overall especially with the update but they should definitely add more pals for free and expand the premium ones maybe add some mythical creatures like a phoenix or a dragon or anything else that could attack people also I think adding characters would be a good idea assuming they get a partnership

Too expensive for what it is. The monthly and annual subscription fee it’s too expensive for what it says. Additionally, the instructions on how to set the widgets and lock screen are not intuitive.

Unfortunate - but promising. I like the app. I want to pay for the subscription. But there are too many reviews of people losing their progress. One person lost 3years worth. If it were not for that concern, I’d 5 star + annually subscribe. I’ll come back in 6-12months to check for improvements +bug fixes. If no progress. I’m probably going to uninstall. For now I don’t mind the free version

It’s pretty cute but buggy. Honestly the only reason I bought the phone 14 was to have pixel pals (i know) And it’s so cute! BUT i thought my pixel pal was gonna chill on my screen forever. It doesn’t so I have to keep reopening the app even if i never closed it which is super disappointing and annoying 😩 it had bugs too (not sure if that’s still the case, haven’t used the app in a while) If I select the option to have the pixel pal in the bottom left (as an example) the pixel pal will appear on the top right, then later when I open my phone, it’ll be in a random new spot.

not the greatest. i was loving this app. i got it two days ago and even paid for the monthly subscription fee and my raccoon and j were going great and made a lot of progress but all of a sudden just now the game must have glitched and it restarted me from the beginning and everything was lost along with my subscription! so my money is completely gone and my time down the drain with it… smh. i’m not sure what is wrong with it but i restarted my phone and closed the app and everything but nothing is working. so no i’m not satisfied with it. don’t subscribe.

My Apollo Pet replacement!. I have ADHD and Hugo has been so helpful to me. A lot of other ‘stim’ pixel pets can be too boisterous or boring, and yet I just loved my Hugo from Apollo so much, from the get-go! The thought of never getting to see all the other new animals bummed me out so bad, and I’m so happy to have found this app to keep my Hugo boi plastered all over my Lock and Home Screen. Thank you, Christian, for changing hundreds of thousands of lives by connecting us through one of the greatest social media interfaces I have ever used in my 15 years of being terminally online. Prepare for my redirected Ultra dollars! Long live the memory of Apollo!

Good and cute but a lot of restrictions. The game is good but there’s a lot of subscriptions for things.

Disappointed. I feel like this app is not intended to be used on phones without dynamic island. I can barely tap my small little Apollo pet on the home bar, it’s so small. None of the features really work well, having him in a widget or as a live activity doesn’t add much. We don’t scroll together so that feature is a bust. Also don’t like how every time I open the app, I’m prompted with a premium subscription add on. I was a big Apollo fan and wanted to love this but it’s just not that engaging in my opinion.

Wishing I had an iPhone14, but still love it!. I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max, so I am unable to use the dynamic island function but it’s still such a good app! When I have the Pixel Pals app open, my buddy hangs out on my bottom “swipe up” line. I wish there was a way that he could stay on that bottom line on every app I use, much like how the iPhone 14 users are able to see theirs on their island when they don’t have the app open. I’m still a huge fan, but a girl can dream!

Not getting it I guess. Idk if I’m doing something wrong but it seems like everything is behind the subscription? Anytime I try to feed or play with the pet it takes me to the app to buy premium? I thought I saw other reviews saying they were just annoyed at the quick click causing this, but even when I click and hold it always takes me back to the app. Probably not downloading again. If paying for a tamagotchi is your thing though this would be a good app for you. I was just looking for a fun dynamic island app.

love the app but would like to see more features. i absolutely loveeee this app but would love to see more features implemented. For example, when you’re on the app your little pal is on the bottom “app exiting” bar as a miniature version but as soon as you leave the app the pal is no longer there. It would be awesome if the pal actually stayed on the little bar outside of the app. I also think the feed/play menu could be made easier to access. Besides those things, i love this app

Unable to Enjoy to Full Capacity. For a couple of hours now, I haven’t had any of the options available to me that are advertised. I paid for the year subscription, but nothing like feeding or playing games or allowing your pal to be on the Dynamic Island are showing up for me. A little bummed because I paid for a year. Otherwise it’s adorable and I really would love to enjoy it to full capacity, but right now it’s looking like there is so much more work to do. 😔

Cute, but pretty buggy.. I was super excited to try this game because I love Tamagotchi kinda things. But I kept running into issues that seemed like bugs: - my animal kept changing back to a cat mid-action. Like I would feed it, and once it had the food in front of it, suddenly it was a cat. - I don’t like how a lot of places you touch on the widget open the app - when the app opens, there’s nothing to do except change your animal - clicking “name” in the widget opens the app but there’s nowhere to change the name - even if the widget says the volume is off, it still plays sounds - none of the actions from pressing the dynamic toolbar work. Clicking feed or play just opens the app up, and like I mentioned before, the only thing in the app is select an animal, and the release notes of 2.0. Can’t bring myself to buy the subscription, but once things are fixed, I’ll def give it another go!

Good!!☺️☺️. I love how cute the app is, it makes every so adorable!! But I do think that the premium should only be a one time fee, not a weekly thing or yearly or whenever it is, and for the Lock Screen when it’s transparent but I’m not sure if that’s just the Home Screen for apple. Other than that I love the widget I named my cat Clarence I think cute little things with old people names are so cutesy.

I LOVE THIS APP. I genuinely don’t care about the premium thing, it isn’t the biggest deal to me. I think this app is SO ADORABLE and I recommend it to everyone. There’s so many interactive widgets, including games and fidgets. You can PET AND FEED YOUR PET THROUGH A WIDGET????? THATS AWESOME There’s even and animal crossing-stardew valley kind of game where you explore a pixel world and collect keys- THROUGH A WIDGET The ONLY THING that is an issue is that they advertise premium a lot- DOESNT MATTER GET THIS APP NOW

Simple, cute, and fulfilling. Love this app. Just having the tiny little cat run around at the top of my phone when I check the time or look for messages warms my heart and makes me think about the tiny kitty I have waiting for me at home. Love this app. Love this developer. Everything is organized so well in the app and helps people like me who aren’t so good at keeping up with iPhone updates and widget accessibility. Totally worth the year sub I just got.

Amazing App!!!. This is literally the reason I own a 14 😭🤣 but what we really need from this app is the pets walking up top the island all the time. It would be really cool if in certain apps like for instance, the music app or the photo app, if they also walked along the time. But for most apps it should drop them down into the island itself. Just an idea! But amazing app. Good pass time for sure

I love it. But I have One issue.. I’ve used this for about a year now. I really love it and mainly use it to give my home page a unique look! There has however, been a bug with transparency effects for a couple months. When using it before I used to not see the app outline making it pretty seamless and slick. Now, it’s always there and looks a bit off. Not game breaking, but I wish it would be fixed.

Love the game but a few changes!. I love this game it is super cute. but I don’t get the point of the premium if you already can add widgets! I understand that you have to make money but still just to get some pets? But still I love this game so much it’s super fun and I love the dog(Rupert)and I love how you can take care of it on your phone it feels like a upgraded version of the tamagotchi! would definitely recommend. Continuing support to Christian. I am so sorry about Apollo. I was a regular user of the app for a better part of two years, and the whole month leading up to this api change was an incredible thing to witness. Despite Reddit’s quadrupling down on their bogus changes, I wanted to continue my support! I never played with the pixel pals aspect of Apollo but now I felt obligated. Plus it looks kinda neat! Good luck on your future endeavors whatever they may be!

So cute but... Love this and think it is so so cute! Recent updates have made it adorable and a great widget I have everywhere. I named my cat Beef and he is adorable. Only issue I have is that every couple of days (irregularly) he disappears and all the progress disappears, all the food and hearts, and he resets to a new cat (Hugo). Minor issue but I loved seeing the progress with Beef and had a ton of food and hearts built up. If they fixed that I would give 5 stars. Overall great but that bug is frustrating.

Pixel Pals. I like it quite a lot because they are cute pets that do things on your screen, but I do not like that you only have access to 2 pets and the rest you have to buy with premium, that kind of annoys me because a lot of the time it’s younger kids that will more than likely download this app, and they don’t have access to that. I’m just not a fan of having to buy everything, besides the money part and my background sometimes not filling in on the pixel pet, it’s a pretty good app.

First pet!. So so excited to try these! I haven’t had a phone capable of using by this app yet (or the OG Apollo app) but I am so thankful after Apollo had to say goodbye, Christian was able to create this!! (Not sure if it’s been it’s own app this entire time, I am new to this haha) but the pets are sooooo cute and just make me smile when I look up and see them. I’d give it 6 stars if I could! Thank you so much, and only $15 a year? A true steal. Highly highly recommend!!

Fun! But a suggestion.... This app is very cute and I was eager to have a bunny as my pixel pet so I got the premium version as well. My only suggestion is to consider adding a few more colors for the game console style widgets! I'm big into theming the layouts of my devices and tend to go for pastel color schemes. Currently there isn't a color for the console widget that fits at all with my theme, and this may seem silly to some, but I like having everything coordinate. Colors like plain white (no colored buttons), light pink, or light blue would be amazing to see added.

Favorite app. I love this app, before I even had a compatible phone I remember seeing this app and wanting it, same day I was gifted my new phone I got it and it’s so adorable! I’m working on unlocking all the morphs to every animal and love how many widgets it has too 11/10 I love it I hope there will be more updates in the future with new animals!

Great app but…. This is a great app and I love the look of it, reminds me of the tamagotchis I had as a kid! Love the pixel pets you get can and how you need to take care of them and can even battle. Only reason for leaving a 3 star review is my phone died several months ago and once your phone dies/restarts you instantly lose all the progress you made! I emailed the creator about this and suggested if there was a way they can put in a way to create a account an account we can sync our pixel pets to but never heard back!

The update. Before the massive update i had nothing to do with my little kitty :( but then I noticed they had the update and now i love it! There is only one thing. I think there should be more free pets. I know they need to make money somehow but you only have 2 pets to chose from and my parents wouldn’t pay for it. other than that i love it thx for the bug update :)

Waste of time and money (lvl 11 pet disappeared out of nowhere). I downloaded Pixel Pals when I got a new iPhone 15 pro max three months ago. I bought the premium version so I could have access to all of the pets and I loved the T-Rex! Mine was at level 11 and morphed into the blue version, then suddenly one day, I tapped on the widget to feed my T-Rex and it kept routing me to that app where I was being told I needed the premium version to use that pet…… I HAVE the premium version for a year.. and after that my Dino was gone 😭 I messaged support but haven’t heard a peep back yet. Waste of time and money.

Free version is crippled. Let’s all stop this pandemic of developers listing the app as ‘free’, only so they can reach a wider audience. Yet, the ‘free’ version is highly crippled and they want you to subscribe to their monthly paid plan - such a dirty business model. In this ‘free’ version on my iPhone 12, there’s no interaction, you get a single pet, and that’s it. All the features you see on the screenshots are not applicable for the free version. Do I expect everything to be free? Of course not. Do I expect developers to be compensated for their work? Yes. But god almighty, don’t cripple the ‘free’ version so much that it’s essentially a useless app - yet it’s being advertised as FREE! Give the free users a reason to want to upgrade - give them 3, 5 let’s to choose from - not just 1! All the app does right now is drain my battery more quickly and takes up precious space for a single pixel pet to go back and forth with 0 interactions.

Basically Non-Existent Customer Support. I get that this is a side project for the developer, but core functionality like making sure that the game doesn’t fully reset all your pixel pals should be working. It’s happened maybe 3 times now and after the first time I contacted customer support to see what I could do, but after one or two responses I just got ghosted. My girlfriend gifted me a subscription, and it just feels like I wasted her money and supported a developer that doesn’t back their app or care enough to help people figure out their issues. Maybe I’m missing something, but that’s been my experience yet all I see on Reddit is praise for this developer.

Why do you need to pay to get a new pet. When I first got the game I thought it was so cute with all the names I even loved that the pet rock was named Dwane as in Dwane the rock Jonson so when I tried to get another pet like the axolotl but when I pressed on it it tried to make me subscribe and pay 15$ a year so now all I have is hogo the cat and yes he is cute and all but knowing that I need to pay for it I just hate it. Then it always is asking me to rate and I can’t tell how to get onto the little icon to feed it but other than those bugs it’s pretty good and I’ve only started

2.0 Overview - Pros and Cons Are Equal. I’ve been paying the annual subscription since version 1.0. I like my cat. I had him on a transparent 2x2 widget for almost as long as I’ve had Pixel Pals. Version 2.0.2 no longer has a 2x2 option for ONLY my pet. Okay. The 1x1 option won’t let me set a transparent background. Long press the widget, edit widget, no options. *sigh* Now I also need to buy (with real money) or farm food? With an annual subscription? I’m not excited about that. Christian has added some interesting new games and a plethora of new widget options. It’s worth checking out before paying though. I am disappointed that he removed the simple options and is now charging for extra food options other than a carrot especially for those of us with an annual subscription.

Seems a bit broken.... All my progress was reset a couple months ago. Age reset. Food reset. All just gone. The developer has not responded to the support message I sent around that time. Maybe he still doesn't know what's causing it, but it'd be nice if he'd at least acknowledge that he's looking into it at all. Radio silence isn't great. So, at least for now, I can't recommend this app. It was fun, but it seems to be breaking without explanation for myself and others in the review section.

Doesn’t always stay on island. Cute idea. Pet will randomly disappear even if background app refresh is on and the setting on app is set to always on island. I have to reopen the app to trigger it. And yes I paid for the premium even. A bit annoying for the cost, almost more worth it to just use the pet as a widget instead of putting them on the island. creators of the app, would appreciate some feedback how to fix this as it’s irritating having to remember my pet is missing and re-initiate him…

Absolutely love this but I don’t like the major bugs it has. Honestly don’t have much of anything bad to say this is a fun app I love that it feels like a digimon or tamagotchi but every time my phone dies or anything I loose all my progress and everything resets including my friends list the same thing happened to my friend honestly this would a 5 star app if that didn’t happen looking forward to an update to fix this issue

Very Cute, BUT!. I would give this app five stars if not for the fact that, if your phone dies, you lose all of your progress with all of your pets. All morphs, all hearts, all food you’ve grown: gone. It’s very frustrating to know that if my phone ever runs out of battery, or potentially even if I ever have to restart it for some purpose, my progress will once again be lost. I don’t have much hope of getting back my former progress, but if I could get a guarantee that it won’t happen again, I would bump my rating back up to five stars. Because otherwise, the app is really charming.

Love it, but getting frustrated. I bought the premium version of this game about week ago. During this time, the app has reset on me at least five times, and I have lost all progress I’ve gotten with my pixel pals. This includes losing all the food I’ve collected as well as the morphs of the pixel pals. It’s frustrating having to restart every other day when I’ve put through the effort to ensure I’m getting the hearts. Other than that, I really love this app and wish they would fix this issue since I did pay for the premium.

Awesome update, but one suggestion!. The latest update is cool and looks good. Look forward to see more new features!! But one dissatisfaction I had is the inability to feed or play with pixel pal without opening the app. Whenever I want to interact with pixel pal while scrolling on other app, it just directs me to the pixel pal app, which is annoying. Would like to see this feature considered, thanks!

Could be better. This game is super cute BUT I feel like you should not have to buy the pets. It’s kinda unfair. I know y’all want money and all but still. It makes it less fun bc there are so many other cool pets! Also the translucent background isn’t working for me. I’m doing it all correctly and it says I’m not doing it. Idk what’s going on. Also I feel like you should be able to feed it, pet it, and play with it. That would be a lot more fun. Maybe you should either update this game or make a second version. A better version.

It's cute but. Soni subscribed to get the full experience and after feeding and taking care of the poor little guy the health went back to the beginning like it reset or something idk of it's something I did wrong or if it's supposed to do that but it seemed frustrating after a week of feeding and playing with it it reset back to it's oriningal health. I'll give it one more try before canceling again

It’s cute. I like the bat the most. I like that I don’t have to interact with it. Other apps make me interact & I like having it just for aesthetic reasons. Sometimes it is lagging, but not too bad. They seem to be adding more animals, they didn’t have much I liked at first I mainly wanted the bat. It would be cool if some animals had different color options. Or if they added mythical creatures. A tiny dragon would be adorable.

I like this app. But my pet has a problem still. I feed him, play with him, give him heart but the amount of the heart is the same. It shows 12 and has never increased. Please fix the bug. I use the app on iPhone15 pro. Also the pet disappear often from the dynamic island even setting is always show. Please fix the bugs.

No out of app pet care with iPhone 11. Its a super cute idea. The widgets are adorable. I have a little panda named Sara who I can feed and play little games with. The only downside is I can only care for her in the app, I would love to have her sleeping or running around while I’m using other apps. I’m not sure if it’s possible, i would just love to have it as an option. I would also really like if there were more game options; there are lots of options in pets and food but only two mini games.

Amazing app 9/10. Only complaint I’ve come across from this was I had the app for the past month, purchased the year plan and all. And yet when I went to check on him this afternoon it had said I hadn’t gotten premium and then reset everything to the beginning loosing all the progress I had made into making my lil friend happy and comfortable. Very disappointing to see it all disappear in a blink of an eye.

Cute game. I was skeptical at first because most widget apps I have tried don't usually work, but this one is actually really cute! They have two options for pets that are free, and a bunch of other cute animals available if you buy their little upgrade. You can keep the pet up at the top of your screen and add a bunch of other little different widgets on your home screen.

It’s like a Tamagotchi. I love this app. It started small and now it’s completely evolved. You basically have a tamagotchi on your phone. I love how much has been added to it recently and I’ll always support the small independent developers over the big corps that just want money. Even the things that are available for you to pay for, aren’t that expensive and you know it’s going towards the creator and their development.

No longer working properly — deleted. I love my pixel pal, but with the latest update, it’s no longer working correctly. The option to see a full-width widget with just my pixel pal no longer exists. I also can no longer choose the size of my pixel pal within the widget. When I choose fully transparent background, it still blurs it. It used to work exactly how I wanted it to, but one day my widget just turned white and now I can’t recreate it because those options no longer exist. Please bring them back. I also now have a widget on my Lock Screen, which I didn’t add and can’t edit or remove. Had to delete the app in order to remove this.

I like it, but could be better. At first I was very excited to get the game but then I realized I could only get certain things which is it was almost everything without having to buy something. and it just was really annoying because I couldn’t really do anything with the game. so basically I would like more things in the game to be free, not money.

Very Buggy. Very buggy on both Lock Screen and Home Screen. Paid for premium to have other animals other than the cat and dog, but on the Home Screen it’s says I need premium to access them, when I already paid for premium… On Lock Screen when you choose an animal other than the cat or dog, you can’t choose the animation you want other than “alternate randomly.” Pretty annoying, but cute app nonetheless. Look forward to seeing improvements so I can give this app 5 stars!

Rest my progress. Its a great app and the pets are absolutely adorable, also I have been loving the morphs and the fights. Its so fun to do with a little bit of time. So Ive been loving and taking care of my pet for about a month, but I misclicked and changed it off the dog to the cat, and completely reset all my progress. I did not spend that long on the app but it was very enjoyable and to just have it reset out of the blue is upsetting. I would not recommend if you are ready to lose all your progress on a pet for virtual no reason, with no way to get it back.

Wish there was more to do. I love my dog Rupert and that I can add him to widgets but I wish there were more games I could play with him. I also wish there was a separate space in the app maybe like a living room or space for the different animals instead of just the one screen. The animals being on the bar at the bottom is very cute but it’s so small I wish I could see Rupert better. I’ve also seen on computers of things roaming around the screen and idk if that’s achievable on iphones but just a thought!

Amazing app!. Don’t listen to the bad reviews. The app has been updated and there are tons of interactive widgets, pets, activities, games…everything! There’s a 2048 game, weather widgets, pet widgets, games, keyboard clicky widgets….and inside those widgets are other things too! I just wish the Jarvis widget worked with °F. Right now it just shows Celsius even though the app setting is correct.

One thing…. This app is amazing, I love it but there is only one problem… I don’t really appreciate that you have to pay i think $7.99 to get any pet that you would like. You also have to pay again I think $7.99 to have two pets on your Home Screen. But other than than that this app is great. But I think that if you made everything free or at most $1.99, a lot more people would download your app. Thank you for listening, I’m sorry if I said too much. Have a blessed day🤍

Deleted my progress. I had a pal with a good bit of progress on it and checked on it a few times daily. Went to check on it then it turned into a cat. When I tried to turn it back it, cleared all of my progress and friends I had. So now I’m pretty much done with the game. It was fun and these games normally don’t entertain me this much, but this one has. I think it just needs more work and I’m still hoping my progress is out there floating around somewhere.

it’s cute. it’s cute or whatever I was super excited about it and then I found out we could do games and then got more excited but when I put them as little widgets on my phone and went to go play with them, I could not play with them because I have to swipe my phone to get to the next screen or go to main menu you obviously also to swipe the widget to the game so it won’t let me play it and when I click the widget to play the game. It goes to the menu to change my widget character🥺
