I am VERY impressed. This is perhaps the greatest single app I have ever used. One hour with this app last night, answered decades worth of simple questions I'd probably thought about for a few moments, but never bothered to even put into words. For example, I never knew that the sun and the planets were (more or less) following the same trajectory in my visual plane, but now that I can see it, it makes perfect sense. I always wondered why they sometimes appeared close together in the sky (when you can see them). They're all rotating the sun roughly around it's equator, so it would make sense that from Earth, we can see their position along a predictable path. This app grants the viewer a newfound visual perspective of their surroundings. You'll get a better sense of where you are and how things are moving. This app is fantastic!

Speechless after using this app!. I don't know what to say. I've never been one who concerned myself with constellations and astronomy. But after using this app I'm completely blown away by what is above me each day. I got this app after my wife asked me about constellations. I could point out the Big Dipper (I'm from Alaska) and Orion, but that was it. I downloaded and tried out this app after seeing the great reviews and I'm just floored with how easy and awesome it is. ANYONE can use it. And it's got a wealth of information there that'll keep me busy for months. More importantly, my mind is opened up and I am now completely fascinated by the stars. Wonderful App! I hope more people like me end up trying it.

Search Functionality Stopped Working. The ability to hold & move the iPad to find planets, stars, etc. no longer works with the latest updates!

Ads destroyed it. So upset.

Crap app. East points west, shows the sun is in the east but it’s 10 o’clock at night, it says my location services is turned off ( it is not ) , when I manually type in my city and state nothing happens, no location correction. Don’t bother with this app.

Imagination. I live in the city and don’t get to see the star at night with all the light contamination, but with this app, me and my daughter we get to travel the Milky Way. The app is simple fun and great for the more demanding skywatcher or just the newer ones.

Love it. Great app. Love it!

Wonderful App. I used this so many times driving around the country and being able to find the stars as seasons changed. Using one night with my grandchildren made them star watchers.

Horribly Inconsistant. I looked up the current position of Mercury to see how many days it would be visible in the evening sky. But when flipping from month to month using the time tool, I noticed that the distance between Earth to Mercury would vary between 1.3 AU to 0.8 AU in January, 2018 and 1.2 to 0.6 AU in February. Worse, the app would automatically jump to current time, even though the time displayed at the top of the screen never changed. The app has some fun functions with calculating light traveling from distant stars, but now I have doubts that any of the information given is actually accurate.

Very Cool. Love it. Simple to use. Very informative.

Billions and billions!. Incredible application! Ever wanted to find the nearest galaxy, nearest star, or just what that flickering light just might be? Now you can stargaze from the comfort of your own home, day or night. Have a telescope? ... The app gives all the technical data. New to astronomy? ... Just point at a highlighted object in the display and a window opens with a description. There's a nighttime setting if you want to take your iPad outside on a clear night and not sacrifice your night vision looking at a bright screen. Constellations are imposed on the star map, so you'll be able to find the king of planets when your horoscope says "Jupiter is in Taurus." You'll also see the majesty of the Milky Way, and better understand our place in it.

Star mapping. It is a great game!!!!!

Helpful app. Works great. Very easy to use. Very helpful finding things in the night sky.

the best app. i’ve had this app for years; it’s a great learning and reference app.

So far it's great. I just got this last night so that we could take our new Orion Starblast 4.5 telescope put for a spin. At first I was disappointed with the app because it was not stable meaning the display would drift around. I experienced interference at first and occasionally afyer start up, and no matter what I did it wouldn't go away. But then I thought maybe the Ipad cover (just got a cover with what I realize now is a magnetic latch) was the problem and lo and behold the interface went away and the app display stabilized. We were able to then ID many stars and even locate Jupiter. We used the app to help guide us, as beginner astronomers, around the sky. I think this app will be great fun for a long time

Great Tool to Learn Astronomy and Astrology. Thaks for this app.

Fantastic Demo for the Sky Observer App. A fantastic application for demonstrating the full potential of the iPad device. It is an intuitive tool for connecting anyone with the night sky, anyplace on earth they may be. I would be nice to add data from the NASA and JOL sights for live artificial satellite tracking, identifying and pointing out objects as they pass overhead. Adding data for transient astronomical events, like comets and visible nova might be nice. Maybe including some more asteroids would also be good. Great job and excellent job drawing together all the talent it must have took to make this interactive sky chart possible and doing so artfully.

Really we'll done. I am an amateur astronomer in the suburbs and after some testing have come to favor this app for my needs. One of its best features (for me at least) is the ability to dial in the limiting magnitude for viewing in your area. It also adjusts the brightness of the objects on the screen, too. For example, a magnitude 3 object is very dim if you have dialed in that as the level of your seeing, but if you have magnitude 5 set as your threshold that same object will appear brighter on the screen. This helps make the sky on the iPad look a lot more realistic when you look out at your own sky and try to find things. Just one of my favorite features of this app.

Great as a free app. This is a great app. The night mode comes in handy as you are looking at the stars. There are a couple of things I would change. Using the digital compass as a control works great, until you zoom in. When zoomed in, the compass is overly sensitive and I find myself jumping around the chart while I am trying to focus on a single star. It would be nice if there was a quick toggle in one of the corners, or touch and drag would override the compass control until a large movement was made away. All over I think this is a great app for the casual astronomer or the person thinking "Hmmm, I wonder what that star is?" but not for a precision astronomer like myself. With a few improvements, I'm sure I could give this five stars.

Names would help. Color nice, time of day accurate.

Does not allow me to choose location, and does not automatically set location. Otherwise interesting.. Does not allow to set location on an ipad3 and does not find location automatically though Wifi and internet working. It shows 90 degrees off in longitude. Frustrating but nice if it works Terrible moon seen 90 degrees above horizon, app shows moon below horizon from a San Diego location.!! No way to calibrate! Waste of time ,

Auto Direction Incorrect. My location and time is correct, but when pointing to the east the app says that is south. It is off by 90 degrees. Also, i had paid for the upgrade on my previous ipad so that I could get rid of the ads. How do i get that version back?

Nice. It is very nice, however, there are to many advertisements interferring.

Stars are fascinating. This is incredible. Finally technology meets imagination and here I am in my late forties pointing my iPad to the sky with my kids. As a kid, looking at the sky with a blurry telescope, and a flashlight to barely figure out a chart, and not ever being sure what we were looking at....it kinda sucked. My father who knew nothing but pretended, ultimately was unable to back up our collective fascination with the sky with any technology that worked. I was around 6 and fascinated by the Apollo missions. I question the Apollo missions today as propaganda rather than reality....but the stars around us are amazing, and it's awesome to know what you're looking at! Thanks iPad and Stargazer for making it easy!

Incredible!!!. I usually don't write reviews but after getting this for my ipad, but I felt compelled to share my thoughts. This is probably the best, most informative app I've ever seen. I literally just had my 5 year old son outside (up past his bedtime!) looking up at the stars, planets, constellations or whatever else we could discover. I even had to stop him from looking out his window tonight by promising to show him the app tomorrow night! This is truly an unbelievable learning experience which I will be sure to share with my family for years to come. Great job!!

Pretty Awesome. I have not tried any of the other astronomy apps yet but this one is really quite good and the kids can just about figure it out too. There are some really nifty features such as being able to set how dark your sky is so that it only shows objects you are likely to be able to see. You can also make it show how the sky would look at different times. My only complaint is some of the user interface could be a bit more intuitive - eg touch an object to get its information instead of having to drag it to the center or rotate the ipad towards it. It would also be nice to have it show the sky map inverted i.e. If the iPad is laying flat on the table (instead of being held up towards the sky) east and west should point in their respective directions.

Amazing App. There's a lot of information packed into this app, and it works great.

Great fun. This app is easily one of the best purchases you can make! I have never been disappointed by it.

Review. The directions are never correct.

Perfect use of technology. Maybe I'm late to the party. That said, my wife and I were sitting on our patio in the Arizona desert, staring up at the night sky, and arguing over what the name of a particular was. I pulled out my iPad, downloaded this app, and was completely stunned as it transformed my experience of the stars above me... No instructions needed. I simply pointed my iPad at a star and the app showed me the same star on my screen, with a wealth of information. This is great software...simply to use, intuitive controls, and leverages the technology built into the iPad like geolocation and motion sensing devices. Brilliant.

Greatest app for anything sky related. I use it all the time, day or night

GoSkyWatch 4.6.0. Fantastic!!! Best program of its kind that I have found. The more I use it the more I discover things that it is capable of doing. (Like tracing out the sun Analemma as a function of time.) I input my own location with a high degree of accuracy and find extremely good accuracy in everything else that it calculates. I find the accuracy of the program to be Impressive. The display is very realistic as to the relative brightness of the stars and constellations, just the way you see them. You are to be congratulated for creating such a versatile program. Being able to choose between ordinary time, the mean solar day or sidereal days is very useful. In fact, that is what allows you to see the Analemma traced out over the course of a year choosing the time for displaying the result by a simple flick of your finger.

Does not know east from west. Very bad

Great to have. This app really came in handy when I went to South Africa. Last year I didn't have it in Australia and was in a remote area where the stars were so plentiful. I had to find a place with WiFi and had to go back and forth and repeatedly check star maps which interferes with viewing big time! I used GSW in Cape Town from my hotel room and was immediately able to identify the Southern Cross so that I could go out on the balcony and pinpoint it right away! No WiFi needed! Even with city lights obstructing viewing ! I think this is the biggest advantage. Since it runs by GPS you can go anywhere to see the night sky and no Internet connection needed. I am not sure if the app includes explanations for the various phenomena but since I am not an astronomer, the more the better. Thanks and keep up the good work!

A joy to use and learn from. I have a few star watching apps but this is the best to use. Easy and intuitive and I use it every night to try to learn more about the night sky. Los Angeles doesn't have a lot of the sky visible because of the air and light pollution but I'm lucky that I live a distance from some of it. I love the options and scan the sky looking for planets, major stars and constellations. Took me a while to notice there was an option to limit visible only and explained why I couldn't find some stars that I knew by name but didn't show up. Highly recommend this to anyone, even if it just whet your appetite for something with a little more sophistication , but I'm not there yet and from what this has to offer, it will be quite a while.

Star light star bright. The first star I see tonite. With this app/program you have the whole infinite universe to gaze.....amazing program. The things that we can see...and have defined...for centuries humans have looked deep into the dark twinkles of the great unknown ...love thus app...the universe just got a little closer..really enjoy it thanks

Good stuff!. I teach earth/space science in middle schools and am an avid skywatcher. Really, it doesn't get any easier than this app. This really comes in handy to show my students that the stars and planets are there during the day, we just can't see them. Also, being able to see "through" the Earth and explain that people on the other side of the world are experiencing night and show my kids what the sky looks like to them. The fact that it's free is very nice. Too bad the iPhone version isn't also. But hey, this version free in the classroom and pay for a personal version on my phone... That's ok, I understand it.

Too many ads that ruins your night vision!. Change the ads color from white to something dark!

Unbelievable!. This product uses the iPad in a way I never would have imagined. A group of us were sitting outside looking at the stars and wondered what some of them were. With this app even us non-stargazers could point the iPad at the sky and locate specific stars, constellations, and even planets in the night sky. You hold the iPad screen over your head so you can see the stars and the screen at the same time. The built-in compass orients the screen to the exact same star pattern above you. Absolutely fantastic!

WF MaMa. I love this app. My husband and I use it all the time to help us find a planet or to identify something that we see.

You will not be disappointed. I am still new to iPad/anything Apple. I have been somewhat disappointed by many of the software offerings. This is one of the very few that lives up to the potential of the the iPad platform. Excellent for finding that celestial body you've been trying to locate, or even looking ahead to a future date to see when your favorite planet will be visible at night again. This is an outstanding offering; I am surprised it is free. Thanks for a beautiful and entertaining and useful program! Now, if Apple would allow print to PDF over AirPrint, and add NumLock......

Amazing app!. I can't believe this app is free!! It's one of the coolest iPad apps I've seen so far and I love it! I never take the time to write reviews on here, but this deserves it! It's fun for any age and it's neat to learn about all the stars, plants, and constellations. I like that you can adjust how many stars you want visible on the iPad screen, ranging from only seeing major planets and stars, to seeing every star and planet in the sky. It's hard to imagine any other features to add because it's free and it should be $50, but if they wanted to add something they could make it sink up with the weather and visibility for where you are and the app would know how many stars to show on the screen based on your area's weather conditions. It's definitely 5 stars and one of my favorite apps!!!!

Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic for anyone interested in astronomy or with an inquisitive mind. For the advanced or novice who wants a great star-finder. But, this is more than just a star-finder. It's a handheld planetarium and more.

No nighttime mode on free version. The app portion supports night mode but the ad banner is like staring into a flashlight

Useless. I have tried this app from Georgia to Texas. No matter where I go, or what I do, this is what I get when I bring up this app. The "compass interference" screen comes up and tells me to move away from the interference or move the iPad in a figure-eight. I have done more figure-eights than an Olympic figure skater, with zero results. I have never seen this app WITHOUT the compass interference screen. Behind that, blinking, is a "location not set" screen. I think that is what it says, it is hard to tell behind the "compass interference screen." Of course, the buttons on the location screen are not responsive, since they are blinking behind the other screen. I have had this app for four months, and that is all I have ever seen on this app. I am deleting it now, and, needless to say, I am NOT purchasing the $10 version.

Excellent astronomy app. Excellent astronomy app has everything I need love it.

Great app!. Very intuitive, zero learning curve, and actually very informative, (if not downright cool!) to use such a wonderful tool as an amateur astronomy fan. A wealth of knowledge is available, but this app doesn't overload the user with excessive information. A great bridge between the amateur astronomy fan and more advanced, academically disciplined, professional astronomers. Interface is well thought out, the app is stable, (even on a first gen iPad,) and an extensive amount of options and settings make it very cool to motion track the night sky...as well being able to "see" the heavens during the daylight hours. Obviously, if hooking up a laptop and telescope and data tracking are more your level of interest, you can PAY for apps like that which are far more advanced and extensible. This is a good educational tool at a great (read: free!) price!

Works in your house to?. Doesn’t look like it uses the camera to locate constellations hmm

Permanent bright white ad. Useless. Even in night mode there is a permanent bright white ad that completely covers the bottom of the screen. Say goodbye to night vision. Deleted.

Great App!. Awesome app. Works great. Well thought out. Very educational.

To Sky Watch. This is an awesome. Sometimes I just go home and look at the stars. Well worth the money. I can't wait for more enhancements. Perfect for anyone interested in space.

Wow great app exactly what I was looking for. I was looking for an app that I could use for photographing The Milky Way at a specific time, date and location. Looks very useful. I haven't had the chance to go to a remote location. One suggestion would be a choice of different views of the sky. Such as how we would see it if you know what I mean.

Simply perfect - thank you Universe!. Thank you so much for this wonderful App. I live in Australia and it works a treat. It has everything I could wish for. It is truly a piece of superior art and craftsmanship.

Unbelievable. This is simply unbelievable app as it takes you to a different world. Well done.

Fantastic app. Easy to use and very useful for those who are not so sure what they are looking at

Works likes charm and pretty accurate. Everything it Says it is. Keep up with the update

Must have!!. I use this app for both astro photography and as a fast guide for when I'm using my telescope. I could now not be without it!!

Top App. I wanted to find out what the 2 distinct stars near the moon were tonight and downloaded GoSkyWatch. What a brilliant app! The brightest one was actually Venus and the other one was Jupiter. That has made my day! Thanks for making such an incredible and informative app :)

Sky sky. I love this app it will be fun because it is fun and helpful for planning when you should use your telescope.

Awesome app. This app is amazing. Only one thing, it can't find my location so I have to put in closest city. I live in S Western Australia so had to put in my own co-ords. Great for seeing what's in the night sky and lots of info on planets, stars and constellations. Thumbs up

Awesome. Out of all my almost 400 apps (which isn't many) this is by far my most used app. It's phenomenal, I love it. The accuracy in the technology that is applied and the running of this app is incredible. I cannot praise it enough. It's apps like this, the reason why I bought my iPad.

It's a great app. This is a great app for checking out the night sky! It seems to do everything that you need in an app like this, and it has heaps of information on the constellations, planets and stars. My only problem now is finding a clear, light-less sky to use it!!

Go Sky Watch. easy to use, great for gazing at the sky and wondering what is out there day or night; even look through the Earth!

Really nice update!. I've had GoSkyWatch for a long time now, and the new update really shows off the retina display of the new iPad. I think I'll be using this app a lot more now that this update has come through.

Terrific astro utility for the amateur (and pro) astronomer!. I can't think of any more that one would need in a utility to gaze at the night skies. Particularly useful is the night mode so your night vision is not hampered. Well done!

The best App available today!. So brilliant - absolute quality for either kids getting into astronomy or adult astronomers needing a quick reference. Amazing, mind-blowing technology - really, you just hold it up against the sky and it identifies everything in range... it can even increase brightness (and thus quantity of stars you see) based on the smog or cloud cover you have. Should be App of the year, no doubt.

Great educational aid. My daughter and I love using this app to identify the stars in the night sky, by holding out at arms length it adjusts so it is showing us what stars are in view. This would be a great companion for someone with a good telescope.

Star Gazers Supplement. If you love star gazing. This is a great app. to help you find those illusive constellations. It has a full 360 degree view. Just point in the direction you are looking at and see the stars.

Very happy with it. I am in Australia and it works a treat. The navigation is easy and obvious. The search function is a great way to find particular planets, stars and galaxies, and even highlights which are visible from your location. You can set the time in advance to see what the sky will be like in the future (which was handy when planning a stargazing night). If you want to find an object in the sky, or identify something you can see in the sky, this app will do it (at least for the naked eye).

GoSkyWatchp review. This app does everything I was hoping for plus more. Works perfect and easy to use. 5 stars all round. No need to look at other apps this is the one you want.

Hate ads. Hate this app.. Deleted straight away.

Absolutely amazing.. The app is brilliant, once you get the hang of using it, you can find any star or planet or cluster, or your own starsign in the night sky.

Stunning!. On every level, this "app" is an incredible achievement. I don't even know whether it is fair to call something like this a mere "app". Augmented reality, incredible graphics, full use of the iPad's orientation sensors, education ... It's all there. Quite possibly the single most impressive download offered by the Apple store, and it's completely free!

Personal path to the stars. A amazing look at the cosmos, a reminder of the good old days racing through warp space. Now I am grounded on earth without a ship ( starship that is). The whole family spends many a night on the back lawn stargazing - but thanks to this amazing APP we now know what we are looking at. The great thing about this APP is we are using a gadget and gadgets normally stop real world interaction, but with this one. We sit/lie together outside, under the night sky, star gazing and chatting and learning just how lucky we are to live under this awesome sky in awesome south western Australia where the stars are so bright in our perfect night sky. Thanks from us for this amazing APP.

Goskywatch. Excellent program for relaxation and learning. Intuitive and rewarding in its use! A wonderful journey into science for my grandchildren and fantastic trip back into Astronomy for myself!

What is this?. I meant "why do I need a title for a review", but it fits - it's I very non-intuitive. You can't see how to get to see stars' names (not displayed), how to stop gyration (if you misunderstood a brief offer to do that) how to ... The only thing you can't miss is the offer for a full version download...! The best thing about this kind of apps is the is easy to elected them ...

Fantastic app, educational and so much fun!. Exactly what I was looking for and so easy to use. Many interesting and useful features to utilize and all for FREE! Can't get much better than that!!

astonishing. some years a go we were sitting in our ( country ) backyard looking at a bejewelled sky with our hoky little Powerbook1400CS, thinking about all those lucky people with high falutin' scopes tied to powerful laptops and tracking motors that told them what they were looking at etc etc. We wished we had a device that could just point and tell. This was 4 - 5 years before an Apple tablet was first rumoured Now along comes the game changer of the iPad, and we have all of that in the palm of our hand. Can't get over the internal compass, and its accuracy. If a gyro finds its way in, who knows what additional power will come forth I think you get the idea we like it and recommend it

Fantastic. Gets the kids interested in astronomy. Tonight the kids were able to see the planets in the sky without a telescope, and got interested in the constellations etc. Highly recommend this app. It's fantastic!

Roger. Wonderful app I have used it for so many excursions for both biblical studies as well as Grandkids curiosity. A journey of galactic proportions and there is always so much more to find! Great work, thank youm.o.o.n.

Brilliant!. After looking at stars for years and using many packages, this was quickest learning curve ever. It has so much to offer for novice and old hands alike. I was looking for a reason to own an ipad. This is it ! Brilliant app.

A great application. This is one of the most satisfying apps for the ipad. It is clear, easy to work with, delivers much, and is free. Thank you for a great piece of work, it is highly recommended. My night time gazing is improved and my armchair gazing is now exciting.

Amazing. Amazing app. All I have to do is point to a star I see, and it tells me all the information about it, and the surrounding constellation. I cannot suggest any improvements to be made. Therefore the perfect app. Thank you.

Shane. Outstanding app. I have paid a lot for space apps that don't even come close to this. It is hard to believe that an app of such high quality is actually free, full compliments to the developers for making such a superb product.

Amazing. Fun and easy to use. Turn the detail up under settings to be blown away how many stars this has.

Nice stuff. Normally you get what you pay for, but in this instance you pay nothing and get the visible cosmos in return. Bravo.

How the hell do you think ads will work in dark mode. Happily supported and used the app, now they insist on ads being very visible...happy to have supported the previous version...but now you have a red night sky with white ads...you guys just stuffed your own app

Fantastic for the kids. this is a fantastic application. We can lie in the yard in the dark & can now name the 'pretties'. Only bad thing is your arms get tired holding it over the kids heads ;-) very very fun.

Marven. What a great app. It works so well and is so easy to use. All I need it to do now is deter the mozzies so that I can spend more time outside of an evening enjoying using the app.

awesome. Just tested it out up here in the hills where there are no lights and a clear sky. It showed the sky and each star I pointed it to it showed its name and what part of a constellation. I pointed it at the moon and there it was, on the screen, the moon. I cannot believe it is free. I would have paid for this.

Very cools. This gives a very detailed and precise map of the sky. It is well made and I love it. Thank you to the brilliant people who created this.

Must have Application. I love this App! I tell all my friends about it. I no more have to wonder what that big bright star is in the sky. Thanks to this beaut app I now know that it is planet Jupiter! It's fun learning constellations in such a visual and easy to learn manner. Definately worth the buck... Go on and order yours now!

Skywatchers. Absolutely amazing. First time I've ever been able to find something in the sky other than the moon!!!

Great App. This app is really good for us guys in the city who can't normally see a lot of the stars in the night sky. Awesome app, keep the updates coming!

Amazing and free!. Didn't expect much, but was amazed at the flexibility and detail of this app. It is a great entertainment and teaching tool for anyone interested in astronomy. Great at night, but very interesting during the day as well.

Absolutely amazing.. I was looking for something to help me identify the stars and planets I was looking at in the real night sky - and this does that and so so so much more.

Great app. Used for a few years, really easy to use and amazing what’s over your head day and night.

Amazing. Forget looking it up online and then working out angles and other calculations... This does it all... Terrific for youngsters, so easy to get them interested in the solar system

Excellent app. Great detail and easy to use. Will definitely be buying the full app. Perhaps an addition could be to add in satellites so we can spot them too.

Amazing!. What a fantastic app! I had no idea the iPad could do that. I live on a farm and have an amazing night sky, always wanted to know more about it. I tried books and charts but so tedious. Now I can just point it in the direction. I am happy I bought the iPad even if it was just for this app. DOWNLOAD IT

Great App, Has Ads, Small Fonts. Great app. Not a fan of ads though. The font is a bit small for reading planet and constellation names; would be nice to set a font size.

Best app. Functions even without wifi! We were on the beach and was a blast.

Great Visualisation. This is a wonderful app to use to introduce family members to astronomy. Just enough info and clear star charts.

Great app!. Very beautiful and fun!

iAds ruined the app. iAds have ruined this app. I wish I had read the reviews before updating! Night mode is now useless.

Fantastic!. This app is wonderful for those who simply enjoy looking up at the night sky or who are intrigued by how the universe was formed. It is very informational and easy to use.

Good. Best app cool but adds should be gone

Awesome night watch with GoSkyWatch. This app makes it super easy to answer the question "Is that a star or a planet?" or "What star is that?" when looking up at the night sky. The app locates your position on earth and shows all planets, main stars, constellations and near galaxies in real time. Fantastic!

It's awesome .... It's a awesome for once I have nothing to complain about!

Useful but imperfect. Ads make it difficult to use at night. In addition, not as useful for historical use (ie. for writers) because it doesn't take the Gregorian calendar shift into consideration, rendering all historical dates in the Gregorian calendar no matter how far back. For example, Nov 20, 1510 is said to be Sunday and not Wednesday, as it clearly was.

Ads?. I really liked using this app and wouldn't mind paying for it just to get rid of the ads.

Fantastic. Ever since I loaded this on my l Pad mini I have not stopped telling people about it.

Excellente application. Remplace les cartes du ciel, cherche-étoiles, etc. Utile et facile.

Armature astronomer. Great App when I am stargazing. This App let's me know what planets I am looking at.

Exactly what you are looking for. This is the night sky app I was looking for. It knows in which direction you are looking at and will call out the planets for you. No more will you wonder what is this? Is this a planet, a star, a distant constellation? Just point the target on that spot and you will know. The only small critic that I have is that the fonts are not always perfectly readable. I you were glasses, you will sometimes have to twist your head a little bit to get the good reading angle. Just installed this app and and add a good look at the sky from my balcony. Yes, that is Saturn and Mars in the sky. I can't wait to go the country and spend the night looking at all the stars. A must have on all iOS devices!

Great app ads ruined it. I have owned this app for a long time but it is distracting and useless now that there are ads... Extremely disappointed that after paying so much for this app that they would do that. I dont want to use it anymore and would appreciate my money back.

Crap. At least you should've made the ads go red for night vision instead of blinding you. Otherwise if I wanted to try viewing stars at night I could save my time and take a flashlight and beam right into my eyes which is exactly what the stupid ads are doing. Worthless and blinding have other apps better than that

Still amazed how this works. No matter I am...inside or outside... it always works. It's quite fantastic how much info this app has and how accurate it is. It makes me happy when I can find stars and planets just by using it. Yay!

Ruined :(. It was a 5... now 3. I wish I could get the old version back... Or pay to remove the ads? It used to be one of my favourite apps!

Yep.. I like space. Keep it coming.

Toich the sky. I love this app and the fact that it works everywhere. The mysteries of the universe are at your fingertips. It is very interesting and informative.

Cool app. Great time with the kids!

New to Apple. Love it!. I freakin love it! Please quote me if needed. Thank you.

Great App. Love it. It gives tons of information, helpful and easy to use.

A must have app. This simple to use app is wonderful for identifying any major night sky items. Very accurate and helpful for all ages

GoSkyWatchP review. I like this app very detailed and easy to use as well

Stars. Just shared this app on Facebook & twitter. Very informative & easy to use...love it.

Completely awesome!. It is unbelievable to me that this app is free...incredible!

Amaziing app. This shows the whole night sky and with the built in compass it moves with you as you point your iPad at different parts of the sky it shows you what you pointing at. History of all the stars and constellations through wikipedia. Will find planets, stars constellations, galaxies if it's in the sky this app knows where it is and will point you in the right direction. Get it if you've always wondered what was happening in the night sky.

Hours of Awe.. This app is wonderful. My appreciation is as boundless as the sky.

Lol. Plat

Great app until. This was an awesome app that got ruined by the ads.

L’inspiration des étoiles!. Merci pour cette application qui nous fait découvrir l’éternité !astro66

Simply Fantastic. I'm not sure what the difference is between this and the $5.99 version for iPad. I got this free version and it's simply amazing. Me and the kids were outside last night identifying all the stars and planets which we were never good at before. Highly recommended.

It's AMAZING 😊😊. This app is REALLY good because it shows you real-time positions of the planets and stars, which help with location in the sky. It also has TONS of interesting facts and pictures. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in astronomy 👍

I deleted this app when they introduced ads. It kind of defeats the purpose of having night-mode when bright ads pop up along the bottom of the map. So disappointing, I really liked this app.

So much potential. I haven’t been able to use the ap for some time as the compass and calibrations just won’t work. I used to love this program. I’ve tried everything to get it to work

Cardinal points. I really really like this app. But can you fixe it please? :) It would be great. The cardinal points are not at the right place :(

Ads? You are kidding right?. Good app. Except for the ads...

Best I've Seen. Everyone who has spent a late summer evening in the backyard lying down stargazing (wondering which one is that? How far away are those little points of light? Which planet is visible right now?) should have this app. It's easy to use, gives an amazing amount of information. We love it!

Too bad because its a cool app. If you want to have a Google banner permanently at the bottom of the screen this is the app for you

👏. Great but can you add some of the things the full version has or just lower the price to like $1.24 instead of what it is now like over 5bucks otherwise pretty good.

Great. Really clever. I'd like to be able to see better images of planets etc. To be able to double click them to see them larger, and also have a choice to read up More about them.

Ads ... so sad!!!. This was the greatest app very until it was ruined with bright, annoying ads popping up on the bottom of the screen. Seriously, do you really think while star gazing, anybody is going to click on an ad for Candy Saga!!!!! Darn shame. it's ruined.

oMG. oMG great app you guys are amazing im so surprised it's free

Very good !. Super

Impressive. Fully utilized the features of an iPad in an impressive way.

Great app!. Out of all the apps I have, use this one all the time works great and easy to get an understanding of the night sky.

nice. It is very useful and easy to use

Works great!. This app works great. Does what it says it will do, simple to use, and is pretty comprehensive for a free app. I used the location services and as soon as it had the GPS coordinates it was accurate for locating sky objects. There are plenty of options to configure including the handy "night view" so you can use it without affecting your night vision. Just simply point it in the direction of an object and it identifies it. You can zoom the field of view in and out. It's an all around great app.

The best astronomy tool for iPad. This is such a good app, I don't know where to start. Its easy and intuitive interface makes it simple even for those who have never used a star chart before. It's wonderful to be able to take out with a child and show them visually what all those tiny lights in the sky really are. Thank you for creating such a wonderful app for us!

Amazing!. I absolutely love this app. All four of my kids (definitely NOT nature lovers) actually spent time star gazing with me because the app helped them locate and visualize the constellations. They were also very excited to be able to identify planets that were visible in the sky. For years I've wanted to buy a telescope, but knew the kids wouldn't be interested. That has now changed, and I anticipate a summer full of sky watching.

Effective planetarium and easy to use. Star lovers always marvel at the free show in the heavens every night. But there are often some questions about which stars we may be looking at. This app allows us to easily settle these questions. You simply point the device in the direction of interest, and this app uses the technology in your iPad/iPhone to determine the direction you intend and then presents the appropriate view of the skies, with each astronomical item labelled. A genuine pleasure to use.

Whatever you do DO NOT UPGRADE!!!!!!!!. Way to ruin years of goodwill, guys. "Upgrading" this app (which I paid for!) adds bright, intrusive, annoying ads that you can't remove. Because of the ads, the upgraded app is *worse* than useless for sky-watching -- it actively makes your sky-watching experience worse by ruining your night vision. Fortunately I was able to restore the old version from backup, but now I can never do "update all" again, solely because I have to avoid updating this app. Thanks for nothing, GoSkyWatch. Enjoy your one star, and don't imagine that I will ever buy anything else from you again -- it's obvious you don't care about your customers, since you are willing to destroy an app that's already been paid for.

Wow. I saw a man using this on the lawn at Furnace Creek Ranch in Death Valley and couldn't wait to download it. The stars were amazing that night, and this app made them all the more enjoyable by allowing me to ID which is which. It's actually magic. It's about the second-most enjoyable thing you can do at night. I even used it to track the sun as I was waiting for dawn. Hold it looking down and it tells you what the sky looks like on the other side of the world.

I love looking at the Milky Way. I'm on a galaxy quest to see the center of the Milky Way from the best dark viewing spots near wherever I go. This app not only shows you the overhead stars for any time of year and location, it has overlays for constellations, coordinates, the Milky Way. And more. It's fun to just plug in Christchurch, New Zealand, to fancy it straight overhead in all its glory. There's a black hole at the center of it. It makes my mind race with imagination. The glory of creation and science, in one lil app!

Amazing app!!. Incredible way to learn and share with my grand kids. Point at he sky and get a discription of the stars and planets?? It was kind of funny, I just loaded this app ant took it outside with my 10 year old grand son. I pointed it to the sky and he says to me, But grandpa, It is not aligned correctly to Orian. I discovered later that it was set in Califorina instead of Florida where we are! It really illustrates how kids figure things out and their intuition is boundless!

iTunes. iTunes is a great music player, but wouldn't it be much better if the songs were free? That way, everybody can enjoy good quality music without having the trouble of paying money. Don't you think the apple company is selfish enough? They don't let you download adobe flash player or google chrome on your iPad. They don't even give you a long enough iPad charger. Can't the apple company at least be a little less selfish and let us all play great music for free?

This is awesome!!!. I first saw this app on my friends iPad 2 and it was so neat, I decided to try it out myself. When I first started the app, I thought it was really fun, so I used it in the day time. When I used it during the night time, it was so much better, because, you could actually see the stars. I would totally recommend this to a friends. Definitely try this out!!!

Pain in the neck!. The maps are GREAT! I just don't want to have to hold the iPad over my head in order to see what is in the sky! I want to look down at the iPad and have it show me what is over my head, names and other info. Then I can look up and know what I am looking at! This back and forth, up and down, can't get it to find what I'm looking at cause I can't lock the rotation and enlarge the field at the same time stuff is driving me nuts! I get vertigo from all of this and I'm a blonde. Giving me vertigo is BAD cause that makes me a dizzy blonde. That's just wrong.

Amazing. Everything this app does, it does well. The interface is easy to use, and the information it provides is outstanding! The integration of wikipedia articles on each celestial object is fantastic. I can't give high enough praise to this app. Even if you have a vague passive interest in astronomy, this app will make the night sky come alive with wonder for you.

Out of this world!!. I am very impressed with this app! Hands down the best astro app not only for the skywatchers, but for anyone who has a telescope or shoots astro-photography.. The feature rich display and detailed data make it stand out..This is now the very best tool in my gear bag. I am able to locate an object, target it and shoot day after day..I can't wait to tell other members of my star watching club about it! In my book this is the greatest app out for anyone who loves looking up at the stars! TR..

Great App! 😱. So far in my astronomy class this app has helped out a ton! I really love all the consolations and view of the beautiful universe. One thing you could add is a ginormous ballsac icon for the sun andother sexual parts for other plants as well, this would be a good idea to keep students and other using this app intrigued. Also sometimes I like to touch myself in my classes. This would be a great touch to top off the perfect astronomy app!👍

Perfect !. This is exactly what I was looking for! Like most people, I'm familiar with a few constellations, but I'm always wondering, what's that bright star? This app is so user friendly, just hold your device up as if you were looking thru it, like a window, and boom you know what star your looking at,as well as everything around it! It's great fun and its helping me get thru till spring when I can break out my GoTo telescope! I can see this app being a very useful companion tool with the scope! Happy stargazing !

Handy!. The ability to "point" at some location and get the ID of the star/constellation is invaluable. Works great even when visibility is poor and even expert sky gazers are disoriented. The settings can also be accessed easily, and the ability to quickly switch to larger text or night vision is highly appreciated. Only issue seemed to be a slight miscalibration, not an issue in the field.

Good stuff. Great app! Wasn't disappointed with it at first because my location was set at 2000 miles from where I was! But once I got it set up right, it was totally accurate and easy to use. Was wondering if they had astromy event updates some where on the app because there was a meteor shower the other night and I wish I in about it before it had past. But anyway defiantly a great friggin app and would recommend it to anyone. Thanks

Great app for a beginner star watcher. We took a weekend trip to the Big Bend area of Texas where there is almost no human lighting to interfere with star gazing. Unfortunately, we had no idea what we were looking at. I downloaded this app to my ipad and we are in business. It is so cool to just point the pad at the sky and identify what you are looking at. Then you can search for specific bodies and it will point you to where it is. VERY COOL! Thanks for such a super and FREE app.

Amazing Augmented Reality. Holy futurism Winged-Mammal-Man, this app actually scared me when I figured out how it worked. Augmented reality was a scifi thing until just now. For those unfamiliar with the term, augmented reality is when a computer screen is able to tell you something useful about your real surroundings. In this case, your ipad becomes like a transparent overlay on the sky, telling you about the stars and planets you hold it towards. Wow.

Amazing Astronomy. This little program really surprised me. My family and I have had fun star gazing and wondering at the versatility of this app. I really don't know what I will do with all the available info included, but it doesn't get in the way of my fun, either. Love the adjustments to make it work how I need it to. I don't know how it works exactly. Nonetheless, it always makes me smile when I use it.

Great app.. Thank you. I teach science and this app is great! My students have learned a lot by me sharing with apple tv. My grand kids and I spend a lot time outside using it. I love how it shows constellations on the other side of the world as well. The shadows behind the constellation stars go a long way towards understanding how the stars represent what they do. I couple that with stories about the constellations and my students are enthralled. Thank again. Keep up the good work.

Great. I really like this app. A lot of adjustable features. Also, gives a lot of information, a great learning experience for kids. Only negative is for people like me who aren't in the same place all the time. Between school, work, visiting family, you have to always reset the location or it is not accurate.

BEST! Don't even hesitate to get it, it's awesome and free!. Literally no reason to not download this app. It's free, it's awesome, does exactly what an astronomy app should; star map with the options for specifications of each star, constellation, far into space (nebulas etc) and it works with your location, thus you can hold your iPad up to the sky and see all the stars the naked human eye can't visualize alone.

Awesome app!. It is hard to believe that you could want anything more! For the average user, this is more information than one could possibly use. When you stand out in an open space and look up, it is possible to know exactly what you are looking at! Ain't technology wonderful! And best of all this is FREE!

Great start. I know my way around the sky, but this app just makes it that much easier to find what I am looking for. I am impressed with the interface. It is so simple even I can use it. I recommend this app to anyone looking for a good time under the stars...it costs nothing to enjoy the night sky and this app foots the bill!

Goskywatch. This is a nice little diversion on a clear summer evening. It is not the app's fault, but my Ipad does not work without the Wi-Fi connection, so bringing it out to show folks some cool star info doesn't work away from Wi-Fi. But......in my back yard or sitting on my deck, it is VERY interesting to use to take a look at things in the night sky and be able to identify them. Nice work on a very useful app (in a world where not all apps are very useful!)

Wonderful!. I'm returning to the hobby of stargazing after years of getting rusty with my star hopping skills. This app provides such a wonderful and involving view of the heavens that I find myself touring the sky on cloudy nights on my iPad with almost the same sense of wonder that I have looking up into the actual night sky. A great practice tool for learning one's way around the night sky.

Awesome!!. It's a very informative app, looks really nice, and it's free. It doesn't even seem much different from the same app that actually costs money. It seems to work the best outside, but why would you be using it inside anyway if you are trying to look at the sky? I didn't give it five stars because I find it a little hard to focus on one particular star, and there is a tiny bit of lag that makes it harder. It might have been better if I hadn't had so many stars on the map.

Best Astronomy Apps. I have several astronomy apps and GoSkyWatch is by far the best of the bunch. It makes the best use of the iPad's GPS and accelerometer of any astronomy apps I have seen. The sky on the display changes according to the angle of the iPad. Just point the back of the iPad at an object in the night sky and GoSkyWatch will identify it. Unlike other apps I have used it works perfectly in landscape or portrait mode. I highly recommend this app!

Awesome!!!. Have star charts and they're large, bulky, and hard to transport. This app is fantastic in that it's a self-contained star chart, plus there's tons of useful data about the objects out there. I have two young kids and this app has taught them so much, info that took me years to gain using star charts and reference books. This is by far the best app we have!!

The best and most enjoyable teaching and learning aide. My children and I use this app to help him with his science project and now they actually fight over it. We sometimes forget the time and end up not going to bed until after midnight on weeknights because we are having so much fun discovering our universe. My children ages 7 yrs, 5yrs, and 2 yrs love this app and what it is teaching them. They what planets are in what constellation and what galaxies look like. As I have already said, this app is great for teaching anyone about the universe and the objects in the heavens.

At a glance ease. A friend asked the question on Facebook, "there is a star next to the moon (on January 22, 2013 - around midnight)". Then added an additional question. "what planet is it"? knowing my interest in astronomy, I immediately opened this app, and searched for the moons location. It showed that the moon's current position placed in close proximity to Jupiter because of its orbital alignment. It was very easy to look at the app, and be able to answer his question at a glance. Great product that I'd highly recommend to star gazers worldwide!

The WOW factor. Who would have thought you'd be able to look up in the sky and have a map of the stars on your iPad. The really neat thing is that you can search for constellations & planets etc and it will tell you when and where it will be in the sky. I look at the night sky more now that I have this app. It really impresses EVERYONE I show it to!! Nice app!!!

Wow!. This app is seriously way to good to be free! Super educational, amazingly insightful, and also fun because you can see exactly what stars and galaxies are right above your own house. I honestly love this app. I almost never write reviews but I for real deal appreciate whoever came up with this and MADE IT FREE. Awesome! If you're into space give it a try, it's free anyway so it won't hurt. You will thank me later ;)

Go SkyWatch. At first I had a problem with magnetic interference until I realized that I had my iPad was in a cover with a magnetic latch. If you experience this, take your iPad out and try it again. Since doing so I have found it to work perfectly and am looking forward to taking it out at night if it ever stops raining.

Great way to learn the night sky. Meade and Celestron have products that do something similar, for about the price of an iPad, and this is far more portable. My 6 and 8 year-olds love it! I am an amateur astronomer and this is an easy and very fun way to interact with them. Recommend this app to anyone with any curiosity. You will soon be asking yourself what star or planet is that and you can instantly answer you own question.

A must have for an amateur astronomer. This is the most amazing app ever created to an iOS device. It is like magic at your fingerprints. I have been able to identify constellations that I knew existed but never identified by myself. It also give you information on all objects on the deeper space. I just wish to have more time to spend every night on this hobby.

Beautiful Application. This app is firing on all cylinders. It really exploits the potential of my iPad, it serves a useful function, is easy to interact with, and looks great. As a long time hobby stargazer I've seen hundreds of references in magazines and then online over the years to "Jupiter low in the south-east sky just after sunset", for example, but this app points you to it! Just 10-15 years ago I wouldn't have dreamed it possible. Thanks for making it so.

Insane. This app is awesome! I love the fact that you can be anywhere and still be able to see all the constellations, stars, and planets from wherever you are. I would recommend this app to any astronomy lover or those on a date! It's a great way to get close and cozy up with that special someone and gaze off into space....and actually know what you're looking at!

Must Have Tool. I've worked at a planetarium for the past 15 years and the functionality that this software provides (for free!!) is amazing. The use of the gyroscope in the newer model phones makes this a simple program to use. Just point the back of the phone at the star and it shows up instantly.

Great app-Needs language change option. Great app. must have, all the stuff everybody is saying. And it is great. The newly added languages make interface easier, but seriously, I don't read star names in Chinese, I read them in English. So there should be an option (A visible one, please) that allows one to change the language. Other than that, great app, keep up da great updates.

H. A. Rey Constellation Option. This is a great app!!! It would be nice to have the option to connect the lines in the constellations as in H. A. Rey's book "The Stars." A few particularly striking examples of constellations that look more like their intended creature include Hercules, Aries the Ram, and Taurus the Bull (and I guess I've grown up seeing Rey's version of Aquila in the sky). Could you add a switch in the settings to change between versions? I still love this app:), thanks!

Beautiful app. This app is so cool and has beautiful pictures of nebulas, galaxies, and star clusters. You can go back in time and see the night sky in 1849, however, I wish you could just type in a date rather than having to scroll through so many years. And sometimes it just snaps you right back to the present, which is rather frustrating. However, this app in every other way is amazing, beautiful, and accurate.

A must have app for any stargazer. This app is well worth the download space because it offers features and quality that you normally have to pay for. Thank you for this awesome out of this world app. Please continue to make apps like this because you are talented with ideas and easy to use and I think we need more apps with quality like this one. Can you make an app like this for craters on the moon? Anyway download this app!

Amazing Free Application. Blown away. For someone just getting into stargazing and learning the major constellations, it's almost indispensable. Night Mode delivers in full, keeping your tablet's garish light from preventing you from seeing faint stars. Works well on first generation. Four stars for utility, minus one for minor alignment issues. Varies from very accurate to slightly off. Don't know if it's an issue with compass hardware limitations, Apple software stack, or application itself.

Fascinating!. I have just started looking at this app seriously and it is incredible. A wealth of knowledge (even links to Wikipedia) of the heavens and universe we live in. I found three planets and all their info tonight after knowing very little about them all my life, and feel I am learning with more interest than in school. Great to be outside here in the country and ponder the vast handiwork of Gods creation. Hope to use this app more and more! Thanks.

Go go gadget sky watch. Of all my astro apps, this is one of my faves. the detail is phenomenal, I LOVE the in app wiki links, and the red night mode really help in reducing glare so the real sky is obstructed by the apps light. However I have yet to figure out what the "Star light date" is. Could some one clear that for me? I have an $11 StarMap and this FREE app gives the paid one a serious run for it's money. This is a must have for any stargazer/astronomer.

Simply amazing AND KIDS LOVE IT. Run this app and wherever you point your device, it's like seeing that part of the sky in a planetarium. If your arm gets tired, just point it at the ground to see what people on the other side of the world. Don't show it to your kids unless: 1) your kids have their own device 2) you don't mind being pestered by kids seeking science :-)

Simple, quick, free!. My wife told me to come outside tonight to see the unusually clear sky with some unusually bright stars & planets. We didn't know what we were looking at, but wanted to. So, I quickly went inside, grabbed my iPad, found this app, downloaded it and went back outside. Immediately we knew what we were looking at. Couldn't have been quicker or easier. Of course, we diddled away another 15 minutes or so in the cold night air marveling at other "discoveries"! I've since checked out a few of the other features--setting the time to see what will be visible or where an object will be, getting the info on various stars and planets, turning on and off the pictures and outlines for constellations, etc. It seems pretty full-featured for a free app. I'm sure if I were serious, I'd have a wish list, but this app covers my needs for now! It's a no-brainer download!
