Was a 5 star app until a few days ago. I think C-span is trying to force everyone to C-span now. I have rejected that app for a few weeks but starting now it is popping up every few minutes. The C-span radio stream keeps cutting out where you have to restart it every few minutes if it will restart at all. So I gave it and downloaded the C-span Now app thinking that I would be able to listen to the Washington Journal as I have for years now with out an issue and without tying it to cable same as I listen in my car. I use to love this app bu if you need to put a bug in it to force us onto another platform that requires an outside paid subscription why not say that up front. If long time users of the C-span Radio app are going to be cut off from listening just be upfront about it. Don’t annoy us with intermittent cut off. Use yo love the app now I’m just annoyed with it.

iPad version is miserable. The default format for the iPad is landscape. The default format for the Cspan app is portrait. I could not rotate the Cspan app to landscape.

does what it says, keeps it simple. good app, thoughtful features, portrait-only orientation on an ipad is an abomination, however.

Needs AppleTV version. Also needs video feed.

Crashes too often!. It worked well for a few years, but the last year or so it constantly loses connection and now even completely cashes. It is extremely unstable. The C-SPAN Now app requires a cable subscription and the radio portion of it only streams the main C-SPAN radio station. The ad tech trackers may be the culprit as they make hundreds of connections to their servers and if you block them, which you should, they continuously try to make connections in the background which compromises the stream. Ugh, I am utterly disappointed in you C-SPAN and I’ll never pay for cable again! Good bye C-SPAN!

Want to love but it keeps crashing. I’m really enjoying being able to listen to this radio while having the screen off and letting it run while I do my work. But too often it crashes. It frequently pauses on its own and won’t resume unless I get back into the app and re-enter the stream. Other times it will just crash out of the app completely. It’s very frustrating and defeats the purpose of having it stream with the screen off. If that bug could be fixed, that would greatly improve the experience of the app.

App lost function. A lot of use poor people have older devices. It upsets me that you no longer can see the daily program schedule. WHY?

Unreliable. The stream cuts out every 30-60 seconds.

Broken for blind users. The current version of this app is pretty much totally broken for blind users of the iPhone. Most the buttons are unlabeled and in the past this app is work perfectly fine. It is very disappointing that upgrade was so badly damaged an app for blind users. Thank you

Communicates. I have a program running that I cannot close.

Keeps crashing. Every 5-10 mins it stops and I have to go into the app and restart it. WHY? Please fix this bug! When you do I’ll post a new review. Thank you

Save currently played podcast episode and position within it between app launches. The app has a wonderful set of lectures/interviews that one can download on the iPhone before going for a walk. Unfortunately, unlike built-in Apple Podcasts, the app does not remember what was the episode that was playing when user exited the app, nor the position within that episode. As a workaround, user can always make screenshots of the app before exit, to remember the name and exact position within the listened episode. It would be nice if the app saved this data between launches. Thank you.

Want to like this but play constantly stops. I see many reviews complaining about the same thing! This is an ongoing issue apparently back years! I use a lot of online radio apps that work. Reach out to Tunity, WBAP, TuneIn radio, almost any other radio app because they make it work. They have been doing it right all the years yours has had issues, maybe ask for help!

Unstable. I love listening to the c-span channels, but the app frequently crashes, randomly pauses in a fashion that requires re-entering the app to resume. I’d mention other issues, but I read a review from 2019 that well covered the issues that motivated a response from the developer. Well …

Informative but radio playback is terrible. I always go to c-span for unfiltered, unbiased coverage of real-time politics. However the playback is terrible; it constantly stops. Yesterday it was stopping literally every - ten - seconds. I gave up listening because I got tired of manually restarting playback. Is there a solution for this or is it my phone/internet/etc?

C-span is good. It’s not CSPAN’s’s faults that this app IS LOUSY(🪳)—but lousy it has been, nonetheless. Needs 1.) player UI: Play, Rewind, skip, so forth, etc. 2.) Schedule slots should contain link to more descriptive page, keep what is there, add a (“more....>>”) link, so the user is presented with comp. descr. of the content, event, broadcast, etc.

TV app?. Why is there no CSPAN TV app? How am I supposed to see how the voting is going on with a radio app? Or who the current speaker is?

App only lets you listen parts of C-SPAN. I don’t know why you promote the app on your channel if it partially plays the radio? Please fix this issue.

Audio to low on App. It’s great when I’m indoors and alone but when I’m outside or around people I can’t hear what’s being said even with AirPods on highest level. Please add feature to raise in app audio volume

Latest update makes app unusable. I loved the app before the latest update, but now the stream cuts out after one minute or so and must be manually restarted in order to continue playing the content. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING such that I no longer want to use the app. I hope this is fixed quickly, however, because C-Span is my source of unfiltered information about what is happening in our nation’s capital.

Buggy app for live streams. Constantly disconnects and pauses when in the app or outside the app.

Jeez. I love C-SPAN and the service they provide but this app is terrible. It simply doesn't work. It's skipping, jumping around and cutting out, endlessly. I often have to reload it and some channels simply don't play for a while when I know there's audio on the floor. It's just frustrating when I want to hear debate. The streaming encoding is just wrong. Thank you.

How about Video?!. Why radio only? Needs an AppleTV app! Video I want to watch with Judge Andrew Napolitano on your website says it is not supported on my device. How about making an app that supports video as well?! Else fix your website and stop locking out mobile viewers. Thanks!

Great content lousy functionality.. Stops playing after about 20 seconds. Have to keep hitting play. Deleted and reinstalled app, won’t work right. Have the latest iPhone and OS. 🙁

Selecting schedule crashes app. Every time I try to see the schedule, the app exits and takes me to home screen. iPhone8.

Needs 5 stars but loses for performance. I love this app but of late it has been crashing as well as looping the same dialogue every 20 or so seconds. Please fix it!

CSpan is the most balanced network.. From Nancy Pelosi pressers to Donald Trump rallies. C-SPAN plays it fully and doesn’t censor. The hosts of the shows are very fair to both sides. The moment they stop being this, I’ll change my review

Still not functioning like a quality app.. Still crashing after playing 1-2 minutes using current Apple OS on tablet. Sometime fixes if I restart my tablet. This doesn’t happen with any other app. Still doesn’t have a horizontal display. This seems like a developer problem not including this feature in the app. Still not available on Roku or SlingTV! I have contacted both providers, but still waiting. Too much frustration using this app!

Connection. Great service! The best for news, BY FAR! App is a bit clunky is only issue. It disconnects a moderate amount. But even with that, this is the best news service there is!

Improved. The CSPAN Radio app is great if you like political news. It seems they have made it much more stable. It now stays connected much better, even in rural areas. I was using a different general radio app (on iPhone). But lately that app does not like to stay connected and very often repeats words or phrases. So the C-SPAN radio app is now a better alternative.

Pauses.. Holy smokes. The playback of live broadcast pauses constantly.

Rather excellent, but lectures in history is too lib. Is a great app the political news is interesting but can be dry. I also enjoy the lectures in history podcasts but the prof. Tend to be more of the liberal variety (wish there was more diversity of opinion) is rate the app as a whole a 4.5

App connection problem. C-Span radio app loses the connection for no apparent reason, forcing the listener to press the play button to resume listening. Stoppage occurs every minute or so of listening. This is problem is occurring on my iPhone 12 mini with an updated OS. I am on WiFi with a cold connection. According to the Apple Store, the C-Span app was last updated 2 mo ago. If it weren’t for this problem, my rating would be 4 stars.

Good for Democracy. I am happy that this is available since I have unplugged from cable and without this I would not have access to c-span at all.

Stops constantly. On both our iPhones it constantly stops playing and needs to press play. I run lastest iOS on 10rs and 10+

Great on the go!. C-SPAN Radio is great to listen on my commute into work every morning. It’s a reliable way to get your news first thing in the morning and learn even more from their various podcasts. I very much appreciate all of the hard work that goes into making this public service available. Thanks C-SPAN!

Why no video!. Your an important source of information - step your game up.

No stars for those who don’t give a tinker’s dam how this government’s run: I just wish C-Span would give equal time to supposed “leftish” groups, not just Big Business Societies, CATO institute ( where I cone from those guys’ caps mean Catastrophic Accident on Take Off), etc., rather than Sierra Club, Amnesty International, folks who don’t exactly hold coal to be “clean” fuel; DNC, EFF, etc. Also: EVERY Trump Campaign Stop a’in’t worth prime time.

Finally!. Information without spin. Live and direct from our nation’s elected leaders, whether I’m at home or on the road. I’ll form my own opinion, if you don’t mind Mr Cooper, Mr O’Reilly, Ms Maddow, and Ms Kelly.

Problems. Can’t listen to cspan on iPhone app. Have deleted app and reloaded, still does not work.

Keeps me informed !. Just an excellent app even uses ios4 background function only thing is where's C-Span 3 but a very good app!

Awesome!. I lamented not being able to ever watch C-SPAN again after cutting the cord. But then a helpful should mentioned this app. Yay! In the election cycle, especially, I was able to view debates Luce without the "you must prove you pay for cable service" BS that most network streaming apps require. Another bonus was that this worked beautifully while I was traveling in China too!

Good app!. Now we can listen to both parties destroy the constitution and spend us to the point of no return as we get attacked by terrorists while everyone is on vacation!

A wonderful app. I really like this app. It's great to be able to listen to cspan programming on my iPod. What I found really useful is the schedule of upcoming programs, so I can tune in to the things I am more interested in watching. Did you know that as speaker, newt Gingrich orchestrated a manipulation of cspan camera angles covering the House in order to slander democratic representatives in Congress?

Love this app and BookTV. I don't get much in the way of TV here on the island, but with this app and satellite Internet I can now listen to BookTV all weekend long. Mine is not the greatest Internet connection, but the availability of this audio only programming is fantastic for me.

Great, but... Love the content BUT this app needs a major interface update. Most iPhones are now really high resolution and the graphics in the app are crap. Please C-SPAN hire a team to redo this from the ground up. Add live video streams, an this app will be hands down 5 stars.

Cspaniffic. This app is amazing. I never have connection problems like I used to when using other apps. Thank you for making this app.

My new addiction. I can't easily tweet about this, but it's a great app and a great service to have. I haven't explored the multiple channels, but haven't turned off the main channel all day long.

Schedule appears to be fixed - But now it is portrait only?. At least it is now improved so that the schedule works (that took MONTHS). But now it appears that this only works in portrait mode. What happened to landscape mode for those of us using ipads??? Please fix this it was always working before. Also: where did the volume control go? Another suggestion is in the schedule, they need to highlight the background on the current program so you can quickly see what program is live. Update Feb 2017: Please consider the requests above, especially landscape mode. This is a must as the app is great.

Listen on the go. Great app and so easy to use. Love having the ability to listen to LIVE programming on the go, and love getting alerts now. Five stars!

Great app. This is still my favorite App for staying informed about Congress and the campaign. I listened to both conventions and was so happy there were no commercial interruptions or anchors talking. The App is free and really easy to use. The schedule information and push notifications are great

Needs live video and Apple TV 4 support. First of all, the content of this app - C-SPAN - is great. That goes without saying. However, C-SPAN's official app doesn't include anything that I actually need. First, it is long overdue for live video feeds. People should be able to access this content away from a television. I'd be perfectly happy with needing a cable login for most content, but the option should really be there. I need to follow votes for work, and the fact that this app *still* doesn't have live video feeds in 2016 is just nuts. Second, this app should go universal so that it's accessible via the Apple TV 4, which is the device I use to watch television now when I'm not on the go. Considering all that this app is already lacking, I don't have high hopes for this, but it's still very much needed.

Finally!. Now there is finally an app from the great people at C-SPAN that gives us access to their coverage of raw politics. With good audio quality and a simple interface linking you to multiple feeds, this app has a lot of potential for even more fun in later versions.

Thanks developers!. A few months ago I left a review asking for some minor fixes and you have answered my prayers. Since the upgrade a few weeks ago I've gotten plenty of use out of the app and no issues whatsoever. The calendar works great as do all the audio streams. Thanks, and thanks to CSPAN for making the app available.

Please include video content!. I'm a history teacher who uses iPads in the classroom. It would be wonderful to have an iPad app designed that would let us access video content like the lectures in American history. It would be great to choose from past episodes as well as live stream from all three c-span channels. How great would it be to let students view live stream congressional hearings as well as the ability to look up specific programs for specialized lessons! This could be an important app for classroom use if only someone would realize its potential. Let's expose students to American history as it happens, instead of just reading about it in a textbook.

Terrible. Want to like this but like many others it VERY regularly stops playing. Yes, I have my sleep setting as never but makes no difference. Not worth the trouble if you have to stop every 5 minutes to restart it. Eventually you just quit using it. As a government app I fully expect nothing to every come of this and no fix. Must have been written by the Obama Care website folks.

Great audio streaming app.. Convenient access to live C-SPAN audio (TV and radio) as well as recent programs via podcasts. Good audio quality for the live streams.

Quick simple and elegant. This simple app drops you right into your choice of 3 cspan audio feeds. They buffer fast and ate only about 30s behind the channels on cable tv. Plus a great jumping off point for cspan podcasts. It'd be great if it could run on the background but that's apples deal. I hope they use it as a platform to deliver their other excellent content. Something like the nytimes app would be the bees knees.

Superb!. It just works. If you're a C-SPAN junkie, this is a no-brainer and with the latest update you can now listen to the feed in the background! Thanks, guys. :)

Good app. Good app.. Does what it's meant to do, streams without crashing. The only thing I would like to request is that they add the name or topic of the current programming that is playing next to the station you are listening to, which I believe is possible and would be incredibly useful, as I'll turn on one of the stations halfway through a program and it takes a while to figure out what it is exactly. So, I would love I have it say, for example, "congressional hearing on ....... "

Fast app with simple functionality. Fast, simple, great content. Just wish they would add video streaming.

App is great!. Exactly what I'm looking for. Would love to be able to set and receive a notification to remind me when something on the schedule pops up that I don't want to miss.

Content Great!! App needs work.... You know your content is invaluable. I love waking up to CSPAN. But I have to leave my phone open because every few minutes the app has to buffer or has crashed. I will be willing to pay for an updated and better quality app. But I love CSPAN!!

2 problems. 1. Lately, nothing listed under certain headings, like Afterwords; and, when I click on another heading, the App shuts down entirely. 2. Info about Podcasts unhelpful in that you can't read the last name of the speaker/guest before choosing to play the podcast or not.

Simple Enough. Finally! I've been searching for any C-SPAN app since the beginning and almost jumped out of bed when I saw it this morning. The app has a very limited interface but does exactly what I need it to. Kudos C-SPAN for finally coming through.

Please consider my wants.. I love this app with all of my heart, but I wish that it could include the option to watch live video... Is it that it would cost the viewers money...? It's free on the computer so... But other than that, I really hope you take my request into account, and make the C-Span a better experience for all. -Bridget

Incomplete. Needs C-SPAN 3 and streaming video. I can get both on my laptop so I don't see what the problem would be. Unfortunately I have DirecTV so it's my only option.

Nice app!. Hey Jodatti, EVERY government and their political parties are corrupt, not just here in America. It's, unfortunately, the world we live in and our responsibility to choose the lesser of evils. As for the app, it works great and functions as it's supposed to. Thank you!

Simple and Works. This app is very simple. It gives you the radio streams for C-SPAN and it does something many apps don't always do, even when it simple: it always works.

Wonderful -- but DESPERATELY needs schedules. Tonight is the big State of the Union speech, and I was searching for where to hear the Herman Cain rebuttal. During the hunt, I discovered this wonderful and vital app. Glorious! All three C-SPAN cable channels' audio, plus the radio channel. Ironically, though, there was no way to solve the original question because there is no way in the app to learn what the four channels are going to be carrying. There's not even a way to learn what they're carrying at the moment! So, only 3 stars for now, as we mostly have tremendous potential here that needs schedules built-in to make it all practical.

Great app. I wasn't sure if there was an app for cspan or not, so I decided to look into it. It was a surprise to find out that you get all the cspan channels. Works great, loads fast.

Great App for C-Span Fans. I love this app and works perfectly in both wireless and 3G networks. It's compatible with bluetooth in car, so you can listen to the radio through car's speakers if you can't reach FM coverage for any reason. It contains of all (four) c-span channels and podcasts. It could work in background while surfing Internet and checking emails. I don't think it could be better than it's right now. Must app for every American citizen or visitors who interested in politics and economics.

Starts playing immediately upon launch. Hey, could you guys set it so that it doesn't start playing immediately upon clicking the app?! I just used it for the very first time in a crowded ferry terminal just to look at the schedule for the day. It started blasting and everyone instantly turned around and gave me nasty looks. Anyway, other than that, it does what it says.

Finally!!!!. Excellent app, glad to be able to listen on the go. I didn't have the opportunity to watch the recent State of the Union address by President Obama but I heard it via radio and his visit to the Republican retreat in Baltimore, priceless. The small downfall is I wish one could do other things (i.e. check e-mail) while listening to station. If they could ad sub-titles so one would know what their watching would be great. Can we also get C-Span 3? If the abovementioned can be fixed this would be the #1 app in Itunes-just my opinion.

Pretty good. It would get five stars if it had streaming live video along with the audio only but I understand cspan probably can't afford the bandwidth. Also would of given it five stars if you could run it in the background like the iPod or NPR apps. But still good app because it's CSPAN on the go!

Awesome but one suggestion. Excellent, fast loading, good sound quality, and now background streaming! It should include the schedule or a web link to the schedule.

Great app, and I don't get why.... This app works quite well, no stuttering and even plays in the background. Amazing. And, I wish all citizens of this planet had this much opportunity to listen to the workings of their government. I really don't get the political discussion here. It's an app that let's you listen to the VERY neutral C-SPAN network, which has done a good job of simply reporting the goings-on in our government for many years. It's not a liberal or conservative thing, it just is what it is. C-SPAN, not Fox or MSNBC.

Works Perfectly!. When I read bad reviews on things that work I am befuddled. This app does EXACTLY what it says BETTER than most other radio apps. It loads quickly, plays in clear FM quality sound and can play in the BACKGROUND... GENIUS!!!

Use it everyday. App itself is a little glitchy, but I use this app everyday, really amazing content. No better way to keep your finger on the pulse of what's happening in this country.

Nice!. I got this to listen to the DNC speeches and those are available, but I'm now listening to Neil Degrasse Tyson talking about space and space exploration. I'm looking forward to seeing what else is available. It would be nice to be able to call up lectures and speeches. No connection issues so far.

Updated for all networks and iOS4. Good update that finally adds in C-SPAN3 (especially helpful when the House and Senate are in and big hearings are moved to that channel) as well as background play via iOS4 fast-app switching. The old "background play" button is still in place for those who can't use fast-app switching in a nice nod to backwards compatibility as well.

Great application for news junkies…. This is a great app, no frills, just delivers the news. I like the fact that I can now take CSPAN with me when I go to work out. Plus, you cannot beat the price…

Best app ever!!. I scoured over the app world for this and when I saw it I was a happy man. C-span radio is the awesome, connnection is great. I compared it with online live radio and its even better. Although there is a delay in streaming, but it is clear, no interruptions. I can listen to c-span radio anywhere and wherever I go. The wonderful thing is that is free. C-span is the only free fair and balanced media out there. Without c-span, our democracy would be in peril.

My new favorite app. Works perfect. Cspan 1&2 plus the unscensored XM station. I'm just curious what morons rated this anything but 5 *'s. No this isn't pandora radio, THIS IS CSPAN. And if you find the 'truth' to have a 'liberal' slant, then there might be something wrong with how you see the world. It's a rough place out there, and governments do some shady things sometimes. CSPAN is THE place for transparency, and now I can get it on-demand instead of having to listen to my local Westwood 1 affiliate's garbage. I'm a political junkie, and this is my fix.

Disappointing. This is a very poor app in terms of both interface and functionality. There is no access to the vast majority of content on Book TV. There is no ability to search for content. When you play one of the C-SPAN stations live, there is no indication of what the program is. The app stops unpredictably. I notice it has not been updated in over two years!! Such a pity for our country and your listeners that C-SPAN can't do justice to this wonderful resource and make it widely available.
