Libro.fm Audiobooks Comments & Reviews 2026
Feels good to support my local bookstore. As much as I like physical books, most of the reading I do is actually audiobooks on my commute and I finally asked my local bookstore (Volumes in Chicago!) if I could somehow buy audiobooks from them. They directed me to this app and I’m so happy that (most of) my book-buying now supports them instead of the online giant. The app update is great and you can now buy audiobooks directly in the app. My only complaint is that sometimes it seems like too many clicks to continue listening to a book I’ve been listening to. But if I’m using Bluetooth headphones it starts playing automatically as soon as I put them in, so it’s not really a big deal.
Love the mission but why aren’t there chapters???. This seems like one of the most basic features an audiobook app should have. I waste so much time clicking through tracks trying to find the chapter I’m looking for when I lose my place or want to re-listen to a certain one. I’m going to keep using it but I hope they fix this like they said they would 3yrs ago on other reviews here. Please please please. For those of us who get easily distracted while listening or confused by opaque lists of numbers it really is an accessibility issue.
The political and the medical response to COVID-19 in USA. This is an exceptional account of the American response to the COVID-19 Pandemia. It is an account to the facts that occurred from the beginning of the pandemia to the miracle of scientists developing a vaccine and hence the immunization of the population as the best strategy to stop the pandemia. It was a painful learning curve for all over the world, from the desperation of facing an unknown lethal infection, to the progress in learning its spread and how to control it; from facing a lethal infection in medical guards and hospitals, to accepting that only early intervention could lead to save thousands of lives. However, this is not a story of triumph, it is a desperate account on how the tragedy worsened in front of our eyes, while irresponsible decision- making politicians tried to ignore the evidence of what appeared as the most plausible actions to make and spread disinformation without scruples. Despite of the palpable public inefficiency, countless medical leaders and health professionals in USA worked against the official mandates, educated the population and local leaders, and contributed to the validation of the various vaccines that are none far from miracle technologies. Taking into account that some facts of the political and the medical response may not be entirely accurate, the narrative of this book still seems overall very accurate and consistent with my perception of what happened in more than the last 2 years since January 2020. Justice remains to be served, as it seems inconceivable that more than 1 million perished to COVID-19 in USA; with probably half of those deaths could have been spared with adoption of preventive measures already in place.
Support local/Read global. I love being able to support my local bookstore and not the conglomerates that are trying to take away small businesses’ success. This app allows me to consume books in a medium I can fit more easily in my life as a working mom, stay connected to my local community by purchasing through our local independent bookstore that hosts authors and book clubs and feed my life-long love of reading.
So much better than audible. Besides being a more ethical and economically justified option, I was very pleasantly surprised by the interface. To me it seems a lot easier to navigate between parts of the book and having a visual representation to go along with the audio. It’s also convenient that there are recommendations listed from your local bookstore which seems more personally irrelevant than nationwide databases to give you recommendations
Made the switch!. I cancelled my Audible subscription so that I could start using Libro to support my local bookstore. I love being able to have the same access all the while supporting a small business. Libro also has great sales comparable and even better than Audible. Make the switch today! Especially if you have a local bookstore that will be supported in the process. “A New Chapter” is who I support 💙
Ditch Audible and support local bookstores!. The app functionality is overall pretty great. I love the curated list from different bookstore employees and the recommendations are always on point. I love that I can now see my wish list in the app and, if I have credits, purchase most books right in the app. What would shift this from a four star review to a five star review would be if I could purchase books that don’t accept a book credit for purchase. Most do, but some don’t.
Good books and a better cause. When I first heard of the site, I was a little skeptical. I wasn’t sure exactly how it was gonna work. Well once I learned that for every book you purchase, you donate money to a charity of your cause, and the fact that the books are legitimate books like similar to Audible… It was an easy decision. Not only am I donating to a great cause, while simultaneously getting to read some of the best books of all time, I am listen from pretty much any device. The monthly subscription is so easily to manage and the cancellation is easy as well. If you haven’t already checked out this platform, please consider it!
The best place for DRM Free Audiobooks. Also great for supporting a local bookshop! App has worked great for me the past several years. Ditch Audible and check out Libro! It’s much less distracting and only focused on books. I like the Bookseller recommendations and they have deals periodically, as well as reduced price on purchases for members. Did I mention the audiobooks are DRM Free mp3s? You can transfer them to another player or another device, imagine that!
Frustrating sign up process on mobile. Took several emails and none of the form fields are set up correctly so they don’t work properly on mobile. Tried to create an account on the app and on a mobile browser and neither one worked, still had to request a new password through the website. Maybe it’s not so difficult on a desktop browser but it’s super frustrating when an app that is intended for mobile isn’t optimized on even a basic level for a standard mobile experience.
Love the concept; the app not so much. I switched from audible to libro after getting frustrated I’d lose “my” books because audible took them off. Between that and not wanting to feed the rich, I found this alternative. I’m happy with the price, the product library, and that I own the books. The app is frustrating. The sleep timer doesn’t work. I listen to audiobooks every night at bedtime and have for my entire life. I miss the days of tape decks and listening to one side of the tape until it automatically turned off. CDs took some adjustment as they were generally too long. I could use my laptop and shut the lid when I was ready to sleep. But when mp3 became the medium so too did sleep timers become a thing. Why in 2026 I can get an app without a functional sleep timer 🤷🏻♀️ I have submitted help ticket and hopefully customer service/tech support gains this review a star or two.
Support Local. I love that this app allows me to support my local bookstore through their partnership. It feels really good to give my money to an independent bookstore than the Amazon/Audible machine. The user experience is good and has even improved since they added the ability to purchase books in the app (use to have to purchase on their website and listen on the app). I also love the book recommendations the app makes and that I can gift people book credits. Try this app out and support local.
Easy and Straightforward. This simple and straightforward application just works the way you’d want and expect. I love supporting my local and awesome bookstore. I commute over an hour each way to work so my consumption of audiobooks is up there. I have an older car that doesn’t have Apple CarPlay but this app still works great. No issues. I’m glad I’ve made the switch. I do wish consumers had more rights in this space and the files from all the audiobook retailers were cross compatible. But here we are so I’m going to use this free player to listen to content purchased ostensibly from my local book store.
Fantastic App. What I love about this app is the opportunity to support a local bookstore in my neighbourhood! It’s such a rewarding feeling to know that my purchases directly benefit a community shop. Plus, if you’re an educator, this app shines! They offer a fantastic selection of books, at no charge, especially audiobooks, every month that are perfect for sharing with students or adults you’re teaching. I haven’t encountered any other audiobook service providing such a thoughtful and generous option. This app is my top pick, and I’ve been a loyal user for several years. Hats off to Libro FM—keep up the fantastic work!
Great service with one flaw. Overall I love LibroFM. It allows me to own any audiobook I desire while supporting my local bookstore. The price of a token is more expensive than audible but it is reasonable and I am willing to pay it for the cause of supporting local bookstores. They were even able to add a missing book to their catalog upon my request. My only complaint is that the books are not organized by chapters, but rather by unhelpful tracks. If this is fixed I will be happy to give the service 5 stars.
But disappointed. Honestly, its as expensive as any major huge platform apple music netflix audible and beyond. Whats worse is that titles are ranging from $20-30 for audio books about as much as the hard cover!!!!? How is that possible or make sense? This is highly unreasonable and unsustainable. *** you cant make purchases in app!!? Yet you can redeem credit there and sesrch browse titles there? Very confused as to why the failure? Again $15 per month for audio book recordings on top of a la carte high $ purchases is just way too high. $5 a month + $30 for a new bestseller maybe. But still to high. In fact An audio file that costs more than $15-20 is just insane!!, why? Its not cuttimg trees or printing anything! Its just copying 1 file that was made once? Read once! Unlike a book where cost to print cut trees process put graphics ln and scale 1,000 copies is way higher, than a 1 file copied with a click.
Wonderful way to support local bookstores. Love being able to use Libro FM to support our local bookstores here. I had recently become aware of all the opportunities to listen to audiobooks via the local library, but also am happy to be able to purchase books that are not available through the library, via Libro FM, and support the local community as well. Libro FM is easy to use and set up and also makes giftgiving super easy.
The Eagle and the Hart. Two stars deducted as a criticism of the site concerning trouble getting needed extra material. I recently downloaded a great book: The Eagle and the Hart. But in the intro, read by the author, she refers to an extra pdf file that I was unable to locate. The book has so many characters that a pdf for character descriptions is almost essential. I updated this review due to excellent technical support on the issue which I doubt I’d see from larger vendors.
While You Were Out. I have just finished this remarkable memoir of life in the Irish Catholic Kissinger family, read by author Meg Kissinger. This is the first audio book experience for me and I am absolutely going to continue this format for enjoying the great stories that are available. Listening to Meg’s compilation of her family’s trials, tribulations, tragedies as well as love, care, compassion and loyalty in her own Milwaukee- accented voice was especially meaningful for me. There is humor mixed with horror as a mom and dad struggle with their own mental illness while raising 8 children. Throughout their lives, love and loyalty allow 6 of the children to survive the traumas/illness that they endured growing up. I highly recommend this well written book with its many lessons and information about mental illness. Great read (listen) for someone who falls asleep with paper copies! Janice Julius
App stops when phone sleeps. I’ve had a good experience so far with customer service (I bought a book in Spanish by accident and they refunded me) and for the usability of the app. Except for one big issue, that unfortunately will be a game changer if I can’t get it fixed- the app stops playing when my phone screen turns off. If I can’t listen without constantly have to turn my screen back on, I will have to get rid of the service. It’s hard to relax and listen when it’s cutting off every 3 minutes.
Cryostorage needed. By the time this book downloads, humans will have invented the cold storage I would have needed to stay alive long enough to read it. Half an hour and we’ve made it to 6% downloaded. Moreover, I don’t even need the whole book- just the last third. There was a hold in l library me after me with the library audiobook app and I can’t wait 4 weeks to read the ending! A feature (such as Overdrive has) where you can download individual parts of the book (files) would have been doubly handy in this case.
Useful, intuitive, reliable. I love this app. Simple, easy-to-use features. Lets me listen to high-quality audio entertainment wherever I am, without even needing an internet connection during (thanks to being able to download the books when I want). Customizable quick rewind is helpful for when I want to repeat an important line or passage. Sleep timer is also great, so I don’t accidentally let the book run on for hours. Overall, very happy with his app.
This is the only audiobook app you should have!. I love this app. I love the selection of books available! I look books but am not a big reader as I am very busy during the day and if I read at night I fall asleep after two pages. Having this app I listen when I am driving, walking cleaning the house. Best of all it benefits local book stores and help the community. Oh yeah it is really easy to use!
New here. Like it so far.. Just recently made the switch to this app (because of local bookstore support) and it works just as well as Audible. The only difference I see is the chapters are broken down into small segments and aren’t labeled as chapters. I wish that would change so I could jump to a specific chapter if necessary. Also the ability to purchase books directly in the app would be a nice convenience. And finally purchasing additional credits would be nice too if possible.
Frustrating Bug. I’m all for supporting local indies, so this is my preferred audiobook app. But it’s also the most frustrating. To wit, it will randomly backtrack to earlier in the book between listening sessions. This doesn’t always happen, but just often enough to be maddening. Sometimes the jump is hours long, and it’s difficult to find my way back to where I actually was in the narration. Though random, it’s most likely to happen in one of two circumstances: after a long break, say overnight, or when I switch the way I listen such as from earbuds to CarPlay. Having to spend time figuring out which track I was on, and where, is hard enough when I’m home, but impossible when I’m driving. It’s very frustrating when I have a long drive but can’t continue where I left off because the app randomly decided to backtrack a couple of hours in the story.
Recommend as an alternative to less ethical options. As an alternative it is fairly solid and their ethics seem to be good so I would recommend the platform to those seeking an ethical option. There are a few drawbacks that hopefully will be addressed. As of now, the app does not offer background play which is problematic for an audio medium. When listening you cannot browse the catalog which is also very limiting. Many publishers seem not to work with the platform right now so the selection is more limited than ideal. Currently new users get 3 free credits which is a nice deal, but not enough is available for credit purchase. I think the app could use some serious improvement in areas most other apps are capable. This would make it a more formidable competitor, but for the sake of a company just being decent and seemingly moral? Rare enough to give it 5 stars.
Love supporting local shop. I also use Libby (daily) and Audible (a few times a week). The Library on Libro is divided into categories and therefore isn't as visual and easy to use as Libby. Smaller selection than audible even beyond original options. However I have been able to find popular new releases. The player also functions as well as the other two. They had an offer for a specific book for free on their website but I couldn't figure out how to purchase it. Overall I love supporting my local bookshop so will continue to use Libro. Just wish it was as easy to use as Libby.
Love the idea, more than the user experience. I love the idea behind Libro supporting local bookstores. However, as compared to other platforms for listening to audiobooks it lacks features that impact the user experience. The biggest issue is lack of chapter information, for books that have titled chapters or sections you can’t see any of it, just track 1, 2, 3, etc. This makes it harder to follow multiple POVs or timelines, difficult to navigate back to a particular section and impossible to jump to specific essays or short stories in a collection. The second thing that would be useful is having the number of credits that you have for easy reference where you can see it when shopping for books. Instead you have to navigate away from the book page and go to your account to see how many credits you have.
Easy to use and learn. I have been using Audible since 2020. It’s done well but I think it’s important to think beyond and give back to small business. I love I can pick my local seller and they get credit. We consume several audiobooks a month. This has been a relatively easy app to adjust too. I would like the feature to show how much time is left in the book rather than time spent reading. Of course this could be operator error. The merch is absolutely adorable and I will be supporting in that area as well.
Such a better platform that Audible. I have listened to audiobooks on several different platforms including Audible and Hoopla and this one is the most intuitive and easy to navigate. I appreciate that there is someone to send feedback to and they actually respond! I was hoping to add a few more titles to my library that is not currently in their catalog and received a kind and prompt response. Just a wonderful company!
Great app. I love this app for the fact that you can support your local bookstores when buying! That’s a huge plus to this app! The only reason I’m giving this 4 stars is because when buying extra credits you don’t get a discount for buying more like you do on other apps. Something else Id love to see updated is how much of the book we’ve read so far and how much of the book is left. When listening you can see how much you’ve listened to already but have no idea how much of the book is left. There’s a bit of a learning curve when first downloading this app but hopefully soon we’ll see some cool and helpful updates!
Great audiobook app!. Not all audiobook apps work equally well, but this one actually works. It does what you want it to do: it stays synced, it lets you change speed, it has a driving mode, and it has a search function that actually works. This sounds basic, but I’ve used other apps that couldn’t do all of those things. And LibroFM does other useful stuff, like letting you create your own tags to sort your books. And if you have a problem, customer service is very responsive! Besides, where else can I buy audiobooks that let me download and own the actual audio files? LibroFM is great, I use it daily, and it’s one of my favorite apps.
Love this new App! It is great to help my local Bookstore!. I have enjoyed the app so far. I am anxious to see how they will succeed! I want local businesses to profit from booksellers too! The local businesses feature the authors and that increases sales too! They need to get some credit for all of the extra expenses they put out for promotions. I certainly appreciate all my local bookstore does in our community! They help our local community so much and they help literacy too! We need audiobooks to help with learning difficulties and other issues. So audiobooks are not just for lazy readers! They help with reading comprehension and memory issues. They also can assist with sight loss. They are helpful with Dyslexia and attention deficit disorder problems. I like them for relaxing and stress reduction. Mental health issues are often reduced while reading entertaining books and laughing is always great medicine! So audiobooks are great ways to pass the time when you have to wait in lines or in traffic. Don’t waste your time or your mind, READ!
Very functional. Love the ease of use from the app. Very easy to tell which books are downloaded for play on the go when cell service is bad. Love that I can leave the app and come back to the same spot in my book. Other book players make you set your own bookmarks and it’s not convenient. Credits don’t expire and cost wise are very comparable to other more well known platforms.
Great playback experience!. I love this app! The playback experience is designed very intuitively. When pressing play again after pausing the book, it automatically rewinds a second or two before the point where you stopped. Not too much, just the perfect amount to give you better context when jumping back in. It’s a feature I didn’t know I needed, but now annoys me when I don’t have it on other apps!
Doesn’t Sync Across Devices. I love this app because I love supporting my local bookstore. However, I listen to my audiobooks on different devices throughout the day. Sometimes I’m on my phone and other times I’m on my iPad. Unfortunately, the current version of this app doesn’t update from my previous place on one device when I switch to the other. Or if it has this capability, I cannot find where to turn it on. I still would recommend this app and company over others, purely to support local bookstores.
Good app but missing key feature. This app is decent. Audiobooks are a high quality and the fact that the funds from purchases also go to support local bookstores is a must, but I have a couple of issues. 1. The app does not stay in sync with CarPlay. In the car play screen, once the “track” is finished, it doesn’t go to the next track. The play and pause button become out of sync and I can’t see where I’m at in the chapter. 2. Chapter names are just track numbers. It’s frustrating to not know where you are in the book without having to wait for the chapter name to be read aloud at the next track. Every track is just Track #. Would love to see these issues resolved. If they do, this would be a 5 star app! Regardless of the issues I have with the app, I will choose this app every time because of the mission they are working on.
Awesomeness. I am a first time user and I am very happy with my subscription. It’s great that I can support my local bookstore, yet have access to thousands of book titles. For me, this is also great as I am in a book club so I can access the book without being on a long (in my case I was 1040th on the waitlist) and now I am done and ready for our club meeting. The app has a lot of nice features, one of which is to select a book that will be available say in October and you are notified.
Just plain awesome!. Audible could never compare! Supporting the local bookstore of my choice and an insane selection of audiobooks to purchase. I buy several on sale every month! I also purchase one credit a month but would be just as happy with only the audiobooks that they offer on sale at a HUGE discount! Money saved, supporting small business, supporting local = WAAAY better than Audible!
Excellent alternative. the app is pretty well laid out, easy to use, and allows you to take audiobooks along with you and support local your bookstores instead of a guy who doesn’t need your $. selections are decent and the more support they get the larger the selection grows, plus authors take home better cuts. local businesses are always going to be better and more reactive to demand than a place that drips ai slop.
Generally great, hard to scrub. I love supporting local bookstores, and I like this app better than Audible’s. However, I have trouble scrubbing forward or back. The circle indicating the current position on a track can sometimes be dragged forward or back to change position, but it often doesn’t respond. Sometimes it improves if I use the skip forward button a couple times first. I tried to contact app support, but the link for support from the App Store leads to what is apparently a read-only site.
Not very user friendly. I want to use this app to support independent bookstores. There are many features from the big competitor’s app that I wish Libro fm had. One example is the sleep setting, I listen as I fall asleep, I used Bluetooth headphones and set the sleep timer to end of chapter. If I make it to the end of the chapter and want to move on I press the play button on my headphones. In the other app it automatically resets the timer to the end of the new chapter but in libro I have to open my phone and set a new timer.
Incredible app. Exactly what I needed. I recommend this app to people regularly. I love reading and I love bookstores and the fact that I can support my favorite bookstore while doing something I was already planning on doing (listening to audio books) is incredible. I’ve tried a few audiobook apps and this is the most intuitive one to me. My favorite feature is that you can bookmark multiple places and give the bookmarks names so you can distinguish them. The team is also incredibly responsive, which is not always true of apps! Super helpful. All in all: good product, good people, good cause.
5 Stars Local Bookstore Support. 4 stars for inability to find how to manage my account on the app and no simple click to website from any page. 3 stars that the site itself will not accept my credit card and there’s no chat feature. I have spent too many hours trying to sign up!!! And am still not signed up. If it wasn’t for supporting my local store, I would have deleted the app and continued audible. I specifically want options that support local businesses. And take from corporate wealth. So, I will trudge on until this is set up and I’ve downloaded the next Dresden File book by Jim Butcher!
Recent update needs work. Play stops when the iPhone goes to sleep or when you open another app. You have to continually wake up the phone to keep it playing. I often listen to a book while working on another app but I can’t do that any more. Also when using the sleep timer it stops abruptly, even in the middle of a word. Better to fade out gently like the A app.
Everything I Want And More. App is very smooth and unobtrusive; has all the features you want (bedtime mode, bookmarking, browsing books so you can wishlist them, credit purchases) and never irritates you with ads or push notifications or anything like that. Syncing across devices sometimes doesn't work right away but is still sufficient. Overall A+ one of the only apps I still use.
Only the mission is worth it. Love the mission and I’ll continue using the app just to support local bookstores alone. However, the app doesn’t offer much functionality for searching or accessing your account, and often leaves me confused. The FAQ instructions say you can pick a specific bookstore to support ‘at anytime by going to your account’ but I still cannot figure out how to do that from ‘my account’ on the app. It might only be an option from a computer, but either way the instructions are not clear, not helpful, and frustrating. The search function also needs to be improved. I cannot seem to search within the app for available books, regardless of if you can purchase through the app. For example, even just a search of ‘p’ returns zero results with the app, which I find hard to believe is accurate (do no you have no authors with a name starting with P? No titles starting with P?). This makes it a lot harder to recommend and actually get other people to switch over, who might not be as altruistic.
Amazing audio app!. I absolutely love this app. A friend recommended this to me as an alternative to a specific big name, and I honestly love being able to set the store I want to support. It’s simple to understand how to navigate, yes it is a little confusing having to purchase from the website, it’s awesome that the audiobook is immediately available on the app. The only thing that keeps this from being a 5 is that there isn’t an easy way to tell what order a book series goes in if it doesn’t have the number in the title/image. It would be nice if there was an easier indicator on book order, yes you can sort, but unfortunately I have learned that the sort system isn’t perfect, and doesn’t organize them in numeric order. Other than that, I highly recommend this app if you are looking for something user friendly and an easy way to support local.
Many Books I Want to Listen to is Unavailable. Wish i could give the app a higher rating, because from a mission perspective it’s great. That said, i frequently find that books i want to read are not available on on the app. Reasons are either the app just doesn’t have the audiobook or there is some stated licensing issue that prohibits the purchase of the book with membership credits…yes i’m paying a subscription to support local bookstores, but i’m primarily doing it to listen to audiobooks that i’m interested in. stopped my subscription because of this. kind of disappointing. also, i’ve found that the audio mastering on some audiobooks isn’t great. like i have to turn my volume all the way up to barely hear the audio (eg guns germs and steel). not sure if that’s an app specific issue but still stinks.
Great Company, Mediocre App. I’m frustrated that the app still lacks basic features like the ability to sort by author or save your sorting preference. If you sort the titles by any method, as soon as you go back to the main screen and re-enter the library it’s back to the default sorting method every time. It’s also very tedious that you have to click into a title then go to options to download one title at a time. This change happened a few months ago to prioritize streaming, but I have been listening to audiobooks for 6 years and I have streamed exactly Zero titles. Who wants to deal with losing connection while they are listening when downloading takes the same amount of data? And there is no option to archive multiple titles at once, or remove multiple titles from the archive at once.

Superior Audiobooks. The premiere audiobook subscription service. Supporting local book stores and all at a reasonable price
Good to Great. Very pleasing to have an alternative to Bezosmagedon and the ability to support a local bookstore. Cannot fault the app it does what it says.
Indie Audiobooks. Finally able to ditch the evil empire for an independent audio subscription with your choice of local bookseller, I’m here for it.
Cannot download audiobooks now. Can no longer download any of the audiobooks I’ve purchased, and after uninstalling and reinstalling per the FAQ have now also lost all of the ones I had downloaded before. That’s hundreds of dollars down the drain.
Nags for App Store review. Interrupts immediately after pressing play (but without actually playing) to ask for an App Store review. Otherwise it’s great!

I was hesitant but boy what a beauty. I’m always hesitant to listen to a celebrity narration but as with the rest of her career, Meryl Streep has been an actor through and through and narrated this book like an absolute pro narrator. Beautiful characterization, beautiful capturing of the emotional nuances in the book. The writing of this book is so stunningly, gorgeous it is about everything and nothing. it’s about life and love parenthood and growing up and death just as Our Town is. This is a mist listen
Audiobooks + Indie bookstores = <3. I really love having an audiobook option that allows me to also support local bookstores! The selection is great, there are extra-affordable sale items, and there are lots of great recommendations when I’m looking for something new! Win-win-win!
Supporting local as well as a business with social purpose. I am in Canada and I love that I am able to support a small business book store in my province, as well as support a business with a social conscience.
It’s the best application in the entire world.. This is my first iOS review ever, and I needed to share. Get this app!! Support your local bookstores soooo easily, even have partners in my small town in Nova Scotia. It’s the best thing, truly.
The best audio book app out there!. Libro.fm ticks all the right boxes: they support indie bookstores, their app is easy to use and aesthetically pleasing, they are socially responsible, and they have an awesome selection of books!
Don’t use this. Does not download purchased books
Amazing. Why would you ever use Audible when you can support a local book store and listen to great audiobooks? Thanks for existing, Libro.fm
A+ audiobook app. Great selection, and it gives back to community bookstores of your choosing. So much happier not supporting am@zon
Sick of Audible and Amazon like me?. Then Libro is the place to be
New Libro.fm app is awesome!. The latest Libro.fm app allows you to use your monthly credit to get audio books from the app, without having to go to the website. You still need to go to the website to buy additional books, but a small price to pay for the best audiobook app out there, and to continue supporting your local bookstore, audio book authors and readers.
Not bad. I don’t like that some books aren’t able to be purchased with a credit. When there is a similar service where that is possible it’s hard to compare, I understand there r reasons y but as a consumer that doesn’t really help me. I’ve also been running into the failed to download problem and until that is fixed my review will be lower than what I wud like to give it
Fantastic way to support indie book shops. So glad I discovered this app! I’m able to support my local independent bookshop and its selection of books is top notch. Make the switch from The Other Guys! You won’t look back & your local booksellers will benefit too!
DRM Free. Yippee. You pay a little more compared to Audible that is true, but it’s not much more. The catalogue is terrific. I never have to worry that I will lose access to my books. Plus, I get to support my local bookstores. That’s great.
Buy audio books and don’t sell your soul!. Keeping it local has never felt so good and sticking it to Amazon has never been this easy!!! Chose your fav local brick and mortar bookstore and they benefit from every audio book you buy from Libro.fm Winning!
no more money to bezos. So glad there is a comparable audiobook service to audible! And I love that libro.fm supports booksellers!
Libro is Fabulous. Great - it’s perfectly suited to the read word.
AMAZING app. Easy to use, sustainable and ethical. 10/10
Will not download on cellular. I bought a book & unfortunately this is the app the author chose. I finally found book in my library a month ago. I thought it was downloaded. Nope. So I try to download it. No connected to wifi. I go to settings and the app was allowed to use cellular. Still no download, had to find wifi. I will never use this app again
If you want to download to an ipod. Absolutely impossible to transfer books to iTunes to use them on an iPod and the support was sketchy. Ask iTunes was the advice I got.
Best audiobook service ever!. Libro is unmatched! I love being able to support an independent bookstore, and their platform is also just great on its own. I had an issue with an audiobook and they replied promptly and fixed the problem. Super happy with the service they provide and can’t recommend them enough.
Great app!. Use my referral code lfm143677
Great app!. This app is so easy to use. The added bonus of supporting local bookstores is great! I enjoy using it, I knit while I relax and enjoy my books. :)
Libro is unparalleled. Best audiobook provider ! Love their ethics too
The best audio app!. Such an amazing resource. You can find just about anything you want to read, and it all goes toward independent book stores. I’ve listened to probably twice as many books as I would have read last year, and I don’t have to carry them around with me every time I move now :)
Weird UX -amazing concept. Not the best UX but love the work they’re doing
Great. I appreciate the new landscape mode.
SUPPORT LOCAL BOOKSTORES. Amazing selections and suggestions for books. Also love the fact that my money is going to small businesses rather than a useless billionaire. Local bookstores have suffered more than Jeff Bezos has during this pandemic, they have an amazing “Switch” incentive for audiobook listeners using different platforms. Please consider this one!! Highly recommend!!
Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!
Cellular download. App functions well and I love the mission to support local bookstores. The app does not download over cellular connection however which is a real pain. I have the latest version of iOS and an iPhone 13. I have all the settings set to allow cellular data download enabled and the app still won’t download via a cell connection.
Please let us sort Authors and Narrators!. I enjoy this app but for the love of Pete, can we PLEASE have a sorting feature added for Authors and Narrators? Publication date, title, length, and series are all well and good but this first world problem drives me crazy. I understand that we can use the Search feature for this but being able to sort by Author of Narrator is a standard sorting feature in every other audiobook reading app.
Great all around!. The mission, the instant access and availability to a desired book, and the customer service when I have had questions are excellent. Am grateful and impressed. Highly recommend.
Much better than audible!. For the simple fact that it helps small businesses. When you spend money with Libro, you spend money with your favorite bookstore.
Totally quality. Jumped from audible to libro and have no complaints. I’m happy to throw money at my local book shop and libro is organized better for me. Many other services don’t even have a proper horror section. Good stuff.
Great alternative to big corporations. I am so happy I found this alternative to getting books. It feels more like I did when I could go to a small book store and get away from the hustle and bustle of the world.
Love supporting local bookstore. I love supporting my local bookstore! I like that the app now lets you browse and sample, and that there’s curated lists from my bookstore. Next please make an Apple Watch app so I can download books onto it for my runs, so I don’t have to take my phone!
Close to Converting Completely. I love this app for what it offers booksellers and book lovers. When I’ve been pining for a book but have commutes to worry about, this app has my back. Fantastic platform, I recommend it to all of my friends and family, and customers who are afraid they don’t have time to read!
Great concept but app needs improvement. I’m thrilled to be able to support my local bookstore with my audiobook purchases, but this app is very basic and needs improvement. The use of tracks instead of chapters is annoying, and I would like to be able to purchase books directly from the app. The other audiobook app I use is Libby for library books, and it is much better than this one.
Great App, Good selection. Libro is a solid app, but more importantly, it’s the doorway into buying audio books that support your local independent bookstore instead of a certain mega corporation. There are frequent sales, as well as helpfully curated categories.
Excellent app. While the library function leaves much to be desired, everything else is first class. A huge win is that (unlike the Audible app) it is hard to accidentally lose your place. All in all a great alternative.
Good App, Great Mission. I love supporting local bookstores, especially in the pandemic! This is a lovely, convenient way to still put my money where my mouth is. I’ve never had an issue of availability and the app works perfectly every time.
I can add bookmarks & notes!. I love that I can add bookmarks & notes so that if I finger fumble or want to review a particular point, I can get back to where I left off. Also, selecting play time or “end of track” I find useful.
Tracks dont have titles, no bookmark in car mode. I love the app overall and love the mission to OWN what you buy and to support bookstores. However, I wish the tracks had titles like on Audible. Also, in car mode, you can tap to bookmark something, but you can tap to do other things. Otherwise, 5 stars.
Great idea, but inconvenient to use. I'm updating my review because the issues I had with the app were fixed! I'm very happy both with the changes (sleep timer options and navigation options) and the responsiveness of the developers.
Deducting two stars for lack of book details.. I’m used to a “about this book “ that other audio book apps offer. Audible and The Cloud Library app have book details” and Overdrive has “overview “. Sometimes it’s nice to refer back to the book description.
Love it! One suggestion.... I love that I can support local stores through audiobooks. One note is that I couldn’t figure out how to get back to shopping through the app and realized it might only be possible through the website. If that’s the case, it’s hep a lot to add a shop button in the actual app. Thanks!
Awesome audiobook app!. I love this app for audiobooks, they have a wide selection of options and I can support local bookstores of my choice through my purchases. Definitely a form of online shopping I can feel good about (bc Jeff bezos has enough of my money 🙄)
Excellent app update!. This has been a frustrating app to use in the past, but the recent update has fixed all annoyances. I now find it as good as Audible’s, and I get to support my independent bookstore!
Nice service if you can get the app to download. Since updating to iOS 18.1 I cannot download any audiobooks. Unfortunately this service has no streaming so there’s no way for me to listen to the books I have purchased. I am very disappointed in the customer support.
Great app!. I love the changes and that we can search for titles and use credits on the app! Do not make any fancy updates! It’s lovely and blind people friendly and if you change it, i will cry!
One issue away from five stars. I basically like the app better than other audiobook formats, But the one thing that tempers my enthusiasm is that when I stop and restart a book on the same device, more frequently than not it picks up at a point well before my stopping point, leaving me to fast forward and sample chapters until I find my spot.
Clean and easy. Great interface, simple to understand and helpful features that enhance the listening experience. The folders are super helpful, love being able to organize my audiobooks!
The new update is game changing. Before the update, having to buy the books online was a bit of a hassle, but not that’s it’s all in one place it’s great! An incredible selection and it helps support small businesses rather than a massive monopoly.
New Update Made It Even Better. The old version of the app was still great, but now that we can use credits on the app and search for different titles things are even easier. I’m honestly never going back to Audible
Audible Replaced!. I adore my local bookstore and wanted to support during shutdown- I am picky, especially regarding audio quality and speed controls. This app is perfect and I recommend it at least once a week. Libro is my exercise and driving companion- I could not do without it!
I love being able to support a local store. I absolutely love this app. I used to use Audible, but being able to have my audiobooks AND being able to support my local bookstore is so much better! I’ve been signed up for over a year and love it!
Local Bookstore Support. I listen to audiobooks all of the time and I love being able to support my local bookstore while listening. The app is easy to use and I love when they offer books on sale. It is a great program!
Crashing. I first want to say that I LOVE everything about this app! Lately, however, I notice that it crashes regularly, usually when I’m interacting with my bookmarks.
Enjoying this app. I am enjoying listening to audio books and supporting a favorite local bookstore. It has worked really well for me so far. Easy to access books and listen to them. Nice to get credits for free books as a member too!
Great concept. App is nice but very buggy.. If everything worked properly this would be great. In car play mode, it frequently freezes or just won’t start playing. If you keep trying, it will often reset to the beginning of a chapter. It’s a total mess and extremely frustrating. This is with or without the sync enabled.
Like that other audiobook app. BUT it supports local bookstores instead of our somewhat-creepy-unelected-overlords on that orange app. Also it’s fairly delightful to use, works well with Apple car play also.
How can you say anything but “perfection”. The latest version is great and closes some of the minor user snags. And of course I love that the tie to my local bookstore. That fact alone is reason enough to love them.
So happy this exists. It does everything you’d want it to, but I also prefer the way it handles interruptions from other apps (like google map directions) better than Audible.
Small company, but keeps working to make the app better!. I love being able to support my local bookstore, and I appreciate the user interface in comparison to the big competitor. Hello, easy access to chapters, bookmarks, and sleep timer!!! Their customer support is also super responsive and helpful!
Network issues. I can’t seem to search for anything due to “internet issues” but my wifi is working fine and every other app functions correctly. If there’s a service outage, that’s fine but I’d prefer if there was at least somewhere where I could see the status of that outage or find an expected fix time. If it is another issue, then I guess I don’t have feedback, just a negative review because the app clearly isn’t working and my wifi clearly is.
Great App & A Great Mission. I love being able to support my local booksellers with this app. The library is large and covers all the best new titles. 10/10 experience with customer support as well. I unsubscribed from Audible and use this service exclusively now.
Support your local bookstore with high quality audiobooks. This app provides a great selection of audiobooks, and remains extremely similar as other popular options. However, I love that I'm able to support my local bookstore at the same time.
Way better than Audible. I love audiobooks and supporting my local book store. Excellent sound quality and book selection. I got rid of my Audible account and am never going back!
Best way to shop local!. Libro is such a great way to support my local bookstore, and having such an easy-to-use and well put together app makes it even better!
Love it!!!. I’ve been using Libro since the fall of 2017 and I love it! They have all of the books I want, and they support indie bookstores. 👍👍👍 I listen to 2-3 books a month. The quality is good. I usually speed book up, and that’s easy to do. Syncs perfectly with in my car, too. Thank you Libro!!!
What’s not to love. With a huge selection of audiobooks, monthly subscription options, bundle options and contributing to an independent bookstore of your choice with every purchase it’s the best option for buying audiobooks.
Best way to get audiobooks. I love that they offer drm free audiobooks, I can download them and use them exactly how I want to and not be restricted to using a single app. The service is great and I highly recommend it over audible.
I like this app!. I love to read and never thought I’d be a huge fan on audiobooks but here we are. I like this app because it’s easy to use and I am able to support a brick and mortar bookstore in the process—win-win.
Audiobooks not working. Starting to believe these ratings and positive reviews are paid. Wanted to use other audiobook apps other than audible but when I tried the free credit, it had difficulty even downloading an audiobook. I had so many problems like the download stopping at 33%, going over 100%, etc. My phone has more than enough storage, I restarted the phone, reinstalled the app and nothing works. If i’m having problems this early on, I’m sure I’ll have more problems in the future. I guess I’m on the hunt for a different audiobook app.
Wonderful service. I love this app. I appreciate knowing my book money is supporting the book store in town, and anytime I have a question, and actual person answers it. Couldn’t be happier.
Still no in-app purchasing. The fact that we still cannot purchase through the app is really frustrating.
Doesn’t organize by chapters. I like the idea of this app and supporting my local bookstore, but this is probably the last time I get a book from Libro until they change the app. Audio books are divided by “track” which has no connection to the progress of the book. Other apps I use for audiobooks organize by chapter. The effect of this is that if I lose track in the story or if I want to go back to a certain place, I can’t do that in any meaningful way.
Need Sleep Function. I appreciate the alternative to the big name audio book apps, and the ability to support my local independent bookstore. This app needs a sleep function, please! The app also needs to provide the option to play from the app rather than download to your device.
