Graintouch App Description & Overview

What is graintouch app? Graintouch is a drawing app with the soul of print. Inspired by Risograph™ aesthetics, it lets you layer, blend, and create with the warmth of real ink—right on your screen.

BOOL BRUSH
A bold, organic vector brush that stacks colors like ink on paper. Blend, overlap, knockout and build rich textures with effortless strokes.

PRINT SIMULATION
See your artwork as if it just rolled off a risograph. Offset imperfections, layered tints, and the charm of real ink—without the mess.

MINIMAL UI
Nothing in your way, just pure drawing. A clean, focused space where tools feel like an extension of your hand.

COLORFUL CONSTRAINTS
A playful palette of 18 handpicked inks, straight from the riso universe. Instead of endless choice, you get meaningful constraints that spark creativity—just like mixing real inks on a print run.

VECTOR STENCILS
Every Layer becomes a crisp, resolution-independent stencil. Your drawings export as clean vector stencils, perfect for scaling, separating by color, and bringing straight to print—no loss, just pure shapes.

Graintouch Comments & Reviews 2026

Limiting is its strength but needs a little more. I’ve really enjoyed this app even more than procreate lately. My favorite thing is being able to use the lasso fill tool to get quick shapes in to blockout my ideas. What I think would make it 5 stars for me is if I could create my own color palette in the main menu and select it at the start before each project. Keep the choices restricted to the same number of colors now but I would just like the option to choose my own colors.

Another Hit From This Developer. I’m so excited to see a new app from this developer and just thrilled it was a painting application to boot. IORAMA AB, always creates and offers the most unique artistic apps and Graintouch is no exception to this in my opinion. I think if you’ve used the developer’s animation application, Looom, which is also wonderful I’ve found and I highly recommend you check it out too. That you will feel right at home pretty quickly inside of this new program. Still, I didn’t understand how to create new color layers when I first jumped into Graintouch. So, like with Looom, I figured the developer had made a good starter tutorial video to help users and they had. If you click the settings gear icon in the top right of the canvas. You’ll then see “User Manual” listed at the bottom of the screen. If you’re wanting tips like I did, I highly recommend either checking out the guide screenshots on that page. Or, I would also recommend watching the very helpful I thought, 4-minute introduction video, on that same page. After watching that tutorial I was right up to speed on how to use Graintouch. Along with creating the new color layers that I was originally stumped about. I also learned pretty much everything else the app offers and now I’m even more thrilled that I bought this app. Many thanks to the developer for always offering that kind of help and for that thoughtful consideration. I want to go over more about the app but honestly I’m too excited to get back into to it and to start creating :D! I believe that if you want a well built, unique, fun and powerful painting application then you should definitely check out Graintouch. And, again, I highly recommend checking out the User Manual information before you start drawing. It helped me out immensely and I’m so eager to start making some drawings in this app after watching it and learning how to use everything. There are quite a few really great painting/drawing applications on iOS. But, in my opinion, nobody makes and offers ones as unique and original as this developer, IORAMA AB. Many thanks for giving me something very fun and new to create with. I still thoroughly enjoy creating animations in Looom and I know I’m going to be spending so much fun-filled time in Graintouch as well. Also, thank you for always selling your superb artistic applications, ethically, for one fair price. I’m always grateful for that consideration. Thanks for everything you do and offer us and God bless.

fun, finicky!. overall i’ve spent several hours in here and enjoyed it! i definitely had to watch the video for controls. the palette and single-color layers do a good job of forcing you to think in ink “layers”, and the ink offsets can make some cool gif effects. my biggest tiny issue is that scale/transform is not part of the undo stack. it’s easy to move by accident and really hard to put back in place. it’s also mentally disorienting- i might make several moves, try to undo, but then it erases a line that i drew many steps ago. also as i saw in another comment, some smoothing/stabilization would go a looong way. i’m all for minimal feature settings but wow the brush is SO sensitive! anyway i’m having fun ty i don’t think it needs to be able to import images but maybe supporting split view (for the same purpose) would be nice

Great, but…. I think it would be really finished if you can add the ability to add photos to the laters for reference, and to speedily take art we have made and re make it in here easier I also think the pinching and rotating with the grain where you move it to adjust lighting needs to be redone so it doesnt mess up 9/10 times that you use it. Other than that its a great app

Could use some refinement. This app is super fun and gives drawing a very toy-like experience that I haven’t seen before. I’m really enjoying drawing in this app for the most part, but there are a few things that I feel like are keeping me from developing a good workflow with it. I understand keeping everything visual with the controls and it does make the app very approachable, but I would really appreciate the ability to turn on numeric indicators for brush sizes and other variables so I can keep my tools consistent. Perhaps a “pro” toggle in the home menu that would turn on numeric indicators?

Incredible but only needs one thing. This app is amazing and is 100% worth the mere 10 dollars you pay for it. The UI is smooth and fun to work with, making it feel less technical (like photoshop, clip studio, or even procreate,) letting you focus more on the drawing. I love the constraints it places upon you, letting you explore more you can do with mixing and dithering colors. Super great drawing app :) However, as an artist who sells their art online, I wish there was a way to export a transparent-background PNG of your designs. I’d love to be able to print some of my stuff on t-shirts and stickers, but I find myself having to go to remove.bg, and the end product never looks as good as the base file. This app is amazing for artists who only put their art online, but, sadly, it’s not good for prints yet :(

Controls. I’ve only had this app for 10 minutes and I have to say, I am frustrated with the controls. I have to use my finger to hold open the color wheel while I use to my pen to scroll through the limited colors, but even then as I am scrolling, it doesn’t stay open any longer than a second and that’s with me pressing into my iPad. Don’t get me wrong, love the texture of the pen and the background as well as the fading options, but I can’t get over the controls and how difficult they are to keep open as I’m choosing the colors, changing brush size + eraser size, etc.. There isn’t much to go off on and it would be best to add a tutorial as to how to work things on the app.

Has one big problem. I spent a few hours on a drawing and went out of it, I made a duplicate of the drawing and once I went back into the original all of my layers were jumbled around. I tried to fix the drawing but the back space doesn’t count towards layer adjustments and the whole thing got ruined. Super disappointed.

Lots of potential!. I’ve been enjoying playing with this app. The colors, textures and gradients are gorgeous and fun to use. It simulates risograph print beautifully and even allows you to play around with some of the unpredictable qualities of risograph. I would love to seem some features added with future updates. I was very disappointed that there’s no ability to import a reference image. One of the first things I tried to do when I opened the app was import a sketch I wanted to work with and was so frustrated that I couldn’t. That immediately limited the scope of this app for me. Also, I wish there was some sort of toggle to add line smoothing. I sometimes like working with very clean and smooth lines and shapes so it would be great if there were some options for stroke stabilization. And also a ruler to draw perfectly straight lines. Another thing I would love to see added are percentages for the brush size and density sliders. Having to play a guessing game every time I want to choose the density or brush size with precision is frustrating. Overall, it’s a beautifully designed app that is a pleasure to use. I can tell the devs put a lot of thought and care into it. I look forward to seeing how it’s improved with future updates!

Cool Concept, Poor Execution, Feels Like No QA Was Done. This app is a cool idea but after using it for over 12 hours (over 10+ sessions) I am just left disappointed. I’ve encountered numerous bugs and UI/UX issues. Most notable has to be the bug where my layers just move when I reopen a project. In many cases ruining my drawing because a layer in my project from last night just moved a few inches in one direction when I open it again the next day to keep working on it. The minimalist UI is a fun concept but in practice it just feels like no actual QA happened, or at the very least no external testing by people who didnt design the app interface. It looks very clean and does have some intuitive design but half the time it just feels too gimmicky, and I am left holding multiple nodes with 3 fingers or 2 hands so I can do a specific function, breaking me out of the flow of actually working on my piece. In other cases I am left trying to find out how to do a basic function and what points of the screen I need to touch and hold and drag to copy a layer. Oh and I can’t forget the frustrating fact that the default mode for transform is shape, not gradient. So half the time I start pinching to adjust a gradient texture and it just transforms the position and size of the layer, without any ability to undo. So I have to manually move it back. Overall I feel like the app just gives off the vibe of a snappy modern app that looks good on the surface, but actually sucks to use. Resulting in so many little hoops to jump through or work around that I start to question why I am even using it. Classic case of the look and design of the app coming before the actual usability and user friendly functionality. Im sure from the designers perspective it feels super initiative and minimalist so they didnt bother with QA because it feels great in their bubble. But any outsider opening and seeing the app for the first time is just going to be burdened with an experience that wants to be sleek looking more than it wants you to enjoy using the app. It is basically just a toy.
