WAVE 3 Louisville Weather App Reviews

Not great, but OK. I find that the app tends to lag other weather sources on forecasting. I also think that seeing Kevin Harned’s face first thing is unappealing. More so than other meteorologists, he seems to get excited about weather, more so than necessary. It may be the most important thing to him but rarely to the general population.

Alerts. Used this app for years. Latest update does have an issue, I have alerts set up so only severe weather, specifically tornadoes, are supposed to get through. Lately all weather alerts get through. I only allowed tornadoes for safety reasons, but I’m about to shut off alerts for the app altogether.

Okayish.... I just updated the app, and I find the radar some what confusing, because no matter how much I miss with what I want to be shown it doesn’t get any less cluttered, and it makes it hard to tell what’s what, and where it is moving, so if it’s not to much trouble, could you please Chang the radar back to the way it was.

Sadly Downhill. The last 2 updates of this weather app have downgraded the better features of the app. While you can still name locations, when actually going to the radar map, you now must zoom in versus previously going directly to the localized portion I had set up. The map will not save my alerts for each location no matter how many times I put it in and hit save. I’m not sure what the upgrades were for each time, but I sure miss being able to hometown view with alerts enabled. That was the whole point of using this app for me instead of one of the built in recommendations from the App Store. This radar map now looks constantly zoomed out and generic for the whole US, and leaves me greatly disappointed. Wrong direction Wave3, and another update like these and I’ll move on to something else. Go back to more localized, you say you are the “local” station, so please be that again! Stop trying to compete in tech and stay hometown!

Gives me the weather when I need it. This app keeps getting better. The improvements they have made it my go to app for weather. The weather alerts are right on time for my area. The thing that I think I like the most is that it’s updated by WAVE’s meteorologists. So instead of waiting for updates from someplace far away from Louisville the info is updated up to the minute by weather experts who live in the area.

Commercials. If it wasn’t for the commercials I’d give it 5 stars. But the commercials shouldn’t be on the weather. Only because of severe weather. Nobody wants to watch a commercial to find out about severe weather! Time is important when it comes to bad weather. The commercials are longer than the the weather videos. Do better!

Accurate forecast, slow radar. I like the convenience of having a way to see the forecast and usually very accurate. Only negative is that the radar is always 10 minutes behind real time.

Temperature wrong/Too many alerts. It is currently 33 degrees and the app is saying it's 0 degrees. I checked and my location is correct. It's been like this for several days. I also want alerts for severe snow/wind only but because I have those checked I get alerted basically every other hour. Annoying. I don't need alerted every time they are talking about snow or wind throughout the day. I just want alerts for the serious stuff. The app needs some updates. I most likely will delete the app soon.

App and videos. Okay so here is my issues!! My app will show differently than my Husband and My Daughters, forecasting and wording different..Secondly when I watch the videos that are posted with the forecast and it will cut off to to a ad and when it comes back on it switches to the next video..Kinda aggravating that I can’t watch n see what the forecast is going to be especially when severe weather is involved!! Yes my App is up to date!! I have checked multiple times and there is update available!!

Don't tell me you'll tell me. I can't figure out how to change this WAVE 3 setting. When there's a weather update, I just want to hear the update. Instead I hear, "There's a weather update from Wave 3." Then I need to open the app to hear/see what the update is. I just want to hear the update. Not a notification that there has been an update.

Wave TV is the BEST. Wave has the best accurate weather forecast in our area! As is the news department! It’s my go to news and weather station!!

Waves weather app. I used to use the weather channel app but really like Waves app much better frost thing that was apparent was the app is so user friendly. You must try Waves app.

So helpful!. I have so much anxiety and for me and my family. I still get worried looking at it but, it helps me summarize the whole radar down! Thank’s Wave 3 Team!

Weather App Review. This is my go-to app for weather for central Kentucky. My only complaint would be sometimes 8-10 hours can pass without an update on the Daily section. But overall, I get a good snapshot of the next few days with these reports. Songscribe

What’s up with this weather. I just down loaded Wave radar a few weeks ago. So far so good. Time will tell how accurate it will be. I’m satisfied right now.

Friends at WAVE 3. I love Wave 3, it keeps all of us updated on weather and other important things that may affect our daily lives. Also Dawn Gees program is interesting to watch. Lots going on out side out tiny little places we call home. Thank you all.

Not that good. The app is full of commercials. Starting up time is not good. The app needs a major revamp. I realize you have to have money, but do you have to have that many commercials? Also, there are very few updates during the day. I will try it again in six months.

To many advertisements and most of the time it just won’t work. The format of this app looks great! The problem is it hardly ever works right. Until they fix it don’t waste your time. I had it downloaded for less than 2 days and only got it to work right once. Good luck.

I love this app, but…. This is one of the best weather apps I’ve used thus far! The only complaint I have is the repetitive advertisements. If you press the video a wrong way it will restart the entire thing along with the ad. Still gets 5 stars from me because the weather cameras are a plus.

Hate RADAR changes. This was my go to app for RADAR. Now I hate it due to recent changes. I don’t want to see future radar. I only want to see loop from past to current

Accurate weather!. Accurate local weather with crucial updates. Lots of Skytrack cameras to see what is going on all around the coverage areas.

Not good. Everyone I load I have to look at a pic of Kevin and a pic promoting papa johns. No matter if I close it for even a second it starts all over. I get it... Kevin is a meteorologist and he called it.. uhhhh And yeah... I know there’s pizza made by papa johns.. And the obvious.... The radar is so slow to load. I could build my own dopler just waiting for it to load. I use My radar pro now. Extremely fast and accurate!

Deleting once again!. As hard as they push this app in the broadcasts and commercials, you’d expect it to maybe give the actual news forecasts with expected snow totals etc. Instead you get the morning weather update that has a weatherman talk about traffic for 3 minutes and ending with “we will have the predicted snow totals coming up” , then another lengthy plug for this app (one the app) and then NO ACTUAL FORECAST! The next weather forecast video is 5 hours later and is once again the weatherman talking about traffic for 40 seconds along with an hourly bit showing snow every hour until freezing rain, but no totals predicted. This app was trash long ago and I deleted it long ago. I downloaded again ahead of this snowstorm only to find there is NO ACTUAL FORECAST AVAILABLE. It’s garbage and I’m deleting it for the last time. This is all besides the poor design, crashing and freezing that forces you to close and restart it, and most loathsome of all, they will only ever refer to the area in question as WAVE COUNTRY. Just how cheesy can you possibly get? Truly awful, lame, gag inducing, and makes me hate this app even more. No thanks!

Great Team !!!. They are comprehensive, thorough, and most importantly, completely understandable !!! This gives us a huge advantage over the unknowns we would otherwise face with severe storms or weather disturbances of any sort !!! We enjoy the WAVE of emotion we get when you can finally give us the “ALL CLEAR “ !!!

Good Weather App. Really like the hour-by-hour forecast that is updated by their meteorologists and the new radar screen. Loads faster than it used to, too!

Upgrade stinks. You took an adequate app and made the radar view almost impossible to view. The warnings overwhelm the actual weather. I can’t see the storm because the warnings are so strong. Then when I change the settings it changes them back. Every time I open the app I have to reset it. The last version was superior to this one.

Wave weather app.. I love this app, just knowing that I have something to keep me informed about the weather 24/7 is very reassuring. Thank you for keeping us safe.

My go to for weather. I use it to check weather around the globe, depending on where I’m traveling to. I find it as accurate as any.

Wave 3 weather app. I only gave 3 stars because of the inability to increase the size of the text of the forecast. The other applications are great. I especially like the ability to keep track of the weather in other cities where family and friends live.

Overloaded with ads.. Don't let the screen caps in the app store fool you. They conveniently omit any ads. Believe me. This app is completely overloaded with way too many ads. So much so, they turn an otherwise functional app into a convoluted, distracting, and awkward experience. You even have to wait for a 15 second commercial to watch a video. That's a long time when you're looking for immediate updates about warnings and emergencies. I'd gladly pay to remove all ads. And change the startup graphic.

Wave 3 family 🤗. I love how y’all became a family as I’ve watch through out the years. Excellent App For Weather. I love this because it's a WEATHER app. I have uninstalled the Weather Channel because I was tired of the non-weather notifications and pandemic news. I just want the weather. And Kevin called it!

Timely weather and news. Great news and weather updates!

Radar overlays are too much. The app is generally very good, however in trying to enhance it, the radar feature has become so cluttered with uncontrollable overlays you can really see the precipitation and approaching storms. And you can’t effectively turn them off And the iPad version doesn’t work in Ios17

Thumbs up!. WAVE Sky Watch is mostly always accurate and on point! Dependent and accurate with what’s up with the weather. Accurate and timely alerts! 👍🏾

The weather. Wave is the most accurate weather station for local weather in our area. They take more into account than the national weather service. Just my opinion, but overtime it has worked out that way.

App not opening on Ipad. App not opening on Ipad 6th gen, IOS 17.0.3 (updated 10/4) and previous version, hasn’t worked for one to two weeks. Have the app on IPhone 14 also updated to IOS 17.0.3. Haven’t had any issues, maybe pertains to IPadOS. Tried deleting and reinstalling app twice with no luck.

Glitchy. Weather app is ok when it works but often stalls and difficult to go back from where you came. Lots of endless loops so I need to delete and reinstall about once a month. Frustrating.

Radar changes. I mainly use this app to look at the radar, specifically to see the past-present. Seems like there’s no way to see just the past-present anymore. It always plays a future cast animation when I hit play. Also, I used to be able to easily pause it at the current time and see the precip and the alerts at the same time, but looks like that’s not a thing anymore either.

Latest release is extremely slow. I used to think this app was one of the best for layout and performance. Since the latest release, everything is much slower. The home page with current conditions used to open in a couple of seconds. Now it takes 30 seconds or more. In addition some of the ad come up and the current conditions don’t load.

Daily Usage. Thanks for the important updates. Daily usage allowed me to depart my sister’s home last Saturday in Va just in time to drive through the mountains. The app feature of traffic info was also a great help at the right time. The weather team efforts are greatly appreciated. T Sanders

Just awful poor. There has to be some kind of good update for this app. This app has become extremely slow and this is a app issue and not a user issue. Nothing opens like it supposed to, the home screen takes forever to actually get to the weather. But you guys won’t fix anything that needs to be fixed. WDRB weather app is not this bad.

Inappropriate ads. This has been my go-to app for weather for years, but not now. Immediately below the 10-day forecast they are selling sex. While the world may have no problem with such ads, I do. I have deleted it the app. (Also I could not find any provision to comment on the app… went to their website, no provision there either for feedback. I guess they don’t want to know how they are doing)

Best free weather app!. This is a great app! Keep up the great work! It’s the best free weather app out there. I’ve compared many; this one is the most accurate for Louisville that I’ve found, and you can get weather for other places too. Most (if not all) of the other free weather apps I’ve used, have either completely eliminated future radar, or drastically reduced the time it shows. Not this one! It even has 24 hour future radar (far better than anyone else), as well as past, past and future, and a shorter-term future. Note: it’s currently defaulting to 24 hour future, but you can change that using the three dots on the right. Thanks for sharing this with our community!

Not Once. The wave3 weather app and radar are so convenient. Not once have I went to the wave3 weather app, and experienced a delay, server problem, and nothing less than just quick information. I would highly recommend it, especially when it gets a little dicey.

Slowest app. It’s a nightmare only to open the app and have to wait like 15-30 seconds for it to open, then if you close it and open it again immediately, it starts all over again. There are other weather apps that run so quickly compared to this. Too many adds. Home screen is always the same. I don’t like it.

Always available. I enjoy the different ways that I can get the weather in the news and you guys had provided so many different ways the radio the TV my phone the computer I mean I just no matter what I can find out what the weather is in what’s going on in my neighborhood so I really love this news team they are awesome

App stopped working after last update. I rely on this app every day to get the weather forecast. After the last update it won’t open. It freezes on the startup screen. I hope it gets fixed soon!

Used to be great. I used to use this app all the time! Always accurate and I enjoyed reading the blog reports. Now it runs so slow I can't even scroll through the hourly or daily temps. And when it does finally work, ads just keep popping up. I just want to see the weather!

Good Luck. Try to check daily weather before going to work each morning, but at least 50% of the time this app is either off line or something. Very disappointed. Time to change to a more reliable app.

Radar issues. The perception on the radar glitches and the app has to be closed and reopened after about 10 seconds of being open.

New update crashes on my iPhone 6s. Since the 5/18 update, the app is no longer working on my iPhone 6s. But my other phone, which is newer, has not had an issue.

Latest version no longer supports older iPhones. The latest update will not load to my phone. I am sad to see you have abandoned users of older iPhones (iPhone5 and earlier) with the latest update, even if they have the requisite minimum iOS listed. Sad.

Notifications are ridiculous. Every time I get a notification that there is a snow warning, or anything like that, it’s always a video I have to watch. If I am at work, I am not wanting to watch a video.. I understand that you have to hit the unmute, but if it’s a video, then what’s the sense?

Five star. This is 100% the best weather app with no problems and I love it

Your radar on the app doesn’t always work. Sometimes it doesn’t show any storms but yet I can see lightning and rain but it wasn’t showing up on the radar.

Radar doesn’t work. I did the update and the radar doesn’t work anymore. It only shows some precipitation around Louisville but doesn’t show Louisville.

Best weather. The weather team is right on the weather does the best 100%

Dedicated. The Best forecasts that explain clearly both when and how your individual location will be affected.

Hate the new map. 5 to 2 stars. I have used and love this app for years. But, the new mapbox radar map is hard to see, and not nearly as useful as the old layout. Please revert to the old style pronto or I’ll be forced to find a new weather app.

Not awful just really bad. The ads are all over and really irritating when you are in a hurry and trying to use the app. Save the commercials for your awful news program and let people just have the app.

Inappropriate ads on you app. Really I juts get here to see the weather and you have inappropriate ads in your app with woman butts and stuff from temu I will not use your app again

Wildly inaccurate. This app constantly says it will rain and usually doesn’t. Sends me notifications when lightning is 11.9 miles away but not directly over me.

To weather team at wave 3. Thinks for your dedication an tirelessly work ethic. It’s appreciated keep up the good job. Love the wave 3 app…

Slow to load. Too many ads.. Takes too long to load, Kevin is cool but I don't want to stare at him for 15 seconds waiting on my weather update. Too many ads and my older phone can no longer be updated. Also the app supports link in the App Store only takes you to the wave3 web page? Not helpful.

Need improvement. Very hard to use and often has mistakes Need to make it friendly to use especially when to watch your videos

If you dont like the weather go to wave 3 app it changes ecery 30 mins. This app is spot on the forecast if it happens to be within 2 hours. Does not seem that wave 3 can be accurate after that. You can log on to their app several times a day and its extended forecast has changed dramatically. Seems they shoot from the hip.

Setting Changes. The app would be much better if my settings wouldn’t keep going back to the default settings.

Weather reports. Always spot on with the reports.

My Best Friend in Bad Weather. I have only one station for my weather I don’t see what I have already typed so I’m sorry I couldn’t finish my review.

Kevin’s face app?. Please please give an option to switch off the Kevin splash screen each time I open this app. I’m on the verge of deleting this thing as I’m so tired of seeing him, no offense, instead of the important weather I should have upon app startup.

WAVE3 Weather!. Nothing to say other than “They are the Best”.

App never loads. This app always says network error and takes many attempts to load. Needs some work.

What the heck?. Every time I open it, I get a message to update. When I try to, it tells me the update is not compatible with my device. I'm running IOS 10.3

Wrong. Unless you live downtown or in the immediate area, the forecast is always wrong. We are in the “viewing” area and the map/forecast is always incorrect for us bc we are not downtown Louisville, and I’m not saying this as some disgruntled viewer. I watch them religiously, but I can’t deny that the app is always wrong.

Will NOT LOAD MOST TIMES. Since last update weather app does not come just Kevin's pic then nothing . If i shut iphone offand boot phone back up it might load. Very annoying. I AM BACK TO LET YOU KNOW THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. SO EVIDENTLY YOU DONT READ YOUR REVIEWS. I USE TO USE THIS APP DAILY FOR WEATHER . BUT CANT BECAUSE IT STILL WILL NOT LOAD. Doesn’t work on iPad. I’ve had it on my iPad for years and it has always worked great until recently when the app wouldn’t open. I removed the app and reinstalled, it takes me through all the initial set-up steps but will not open. Works great on my iPhone. Please fix for iPad.

Too many adds. I do not use this app very much due to the large amount of adds.

Very accurate.. I live 125 miles south of Louisville but I can get radar at my home all the time. It’s a very accurate reading!!

Recent Update. Since the recent update you can no longer change the radar and whether it shows past, past & future or further. It’s stuck on future and I don’t want that. FIX IT!!!
