SoundHound - Music Discovery Comments & Reviews 2026

1 Issue ONLY. Overall It’s fabulous!! However It used to be perfect, but NOW I have figured out that the ADS, which are displaying on the bottom of screen, are somehow distracting the hearing process, like even high trend famous musics will remain undetected or they hardly will! I’m pretty much sure it’s not due to my hardware issue; because I can see when ads showing up, the screen goes freezing, therefore there are no beats radius around soundhound Item in the middle while we’re starting to record! Is there anything I can do get rid of it? because I couldn’t find any removing subscription payment feature in app neither. Thank You 👌🏻

One of the best apps-hands down!. I’ve been using SoundHound since 2011. Its probably the only app to maintained its status on all devices as well. Originally I used the other popular music ID app which (at the time) was totally 100% free. Although, very quickly paid upgrades emerged leaving the free end user restricted to a limited number of searches while being barraged w/ads & upgrades. By comparison, SoundHound is very straight forward, users are offered unlimited searches, a databank to save & favorite their search results, & purchase songs if they so choose. In 7yrs of using this app there’s been no lack of service. The SoundHound knowledge base has identified the most obscure songs playing in the background of tv commercials in NZ to instrumentals heard overhead in the health food store. Approx 10-12 of my searches resulted in no matches found, so the margin for error still exists but the gap is definitely narrowed.

Better than similar apps. I have used a few other similar apps before finding SoundHound. I’ve deleted the other apps because SoundHound is the only one I need. It always finds the right song. Even when I don’t have internet/service it saves the search so that can finish searching once have service again. It also keeps a history of previous searches so can easily flip back and find songs. My favorite part is that it includes live lyrics to sing along and also includes a full lyrics link so can view all the lyrics at once. Plus it’s free!

Inferior to Encore. While this app is without doubt, inferior to Encore as far as recognition goes, it does have some redeeming qualities, one of which is playlists. Head to head with Encore, this app is bested by Encore on virtually every other feature. Encore has better recognition, faster, and considerably fewer dropped connections. But the playlists option is Soundhounds redemption in that you can load up your playlist, pop on your headphones, and listen to full songs, full playlist. One other perk Encore doesn’t have is the ability to search for songs manually and add to your playlist.

It’s Confusing Some Songs.. I tried to use the app to see whether it would read Paramore’s “That’s What You Get,” and five times in a row it told me the song was “Ich brauche den Tango” by Dirk Busch. Dunno when that changed. 🤣 I hadn’t touched the app in months and updated it today, then thought I’d test the app again. At least it read Blink182’s song properly after that, so perhaps that Paramore and German song mix-up was just that one in a million chance. I can definitely say it reads other foreign songs properly though, because it gets Korean and Japanese songs right. xD

Dumb greed. I used this app for years and it was great for last minute tunes you want to know about or tunes that is at the end and you want to find out who the artist is but now recently they have video advertising that totally kills the whole functionality of this app. So u heard a song u want to know who it is, u open this app u click on the listen button and instead of it listening to see who the artist is you get a video ad that plays while ur missing the opportunity to know what song and who the artist is. This is where something good becomes something bad. I know they have to make money but this totally kills the whole reason why the app was created. What’s wrong with regular type non-video ads.

❤️❤️❤️❤️ LOVE SOUNDHOUND!. LOVE this app. I use it all the time both for trying to remember a song I knew but forgot the artist or a new song that catches my ear. I have been a SoundHound users since what feels like the beginning. They have proven to be consistent and reliable. Which is quick and accurate results. One of the main reasons I love SoundHound is for the feature that no other app features. Which is live lyrics! That is by far one of the coolest most useful things about SoundHound! Being able to sing along (rather badly) with either a fav song or even a new song im obsessed with learning the lyrics to, the app is there for me :). SoundHound I felt has always tried to give the user what they want. Realizing its difficult to please everyone, I for one have been a very happy and satisfied customer since its launch. I tried the "other" guys and they were just too commercial for me. SoundHound was the right balance of finding new music without pushing the sales-y part of the music industry onto me. I love it for its accuracy, its fast results, and giving me MORE if I chose to know more. Its all there. Keep up the good work guys!

Starting to go downhill. I work in music. I use this app constantly. The ‘improvements’ are fun and all, but the main purpose of this app is to identify music, right? Many moons ago, that part worked. As of a few updates ago, when I do as I’ve always done with the app, all of a sudden, songs that should be recognizable in seconds take two tries. Songs that DO get recognized don’t show up on the screen, and the app tries to identify all over again, and if I don’t manually check my history after every individual go, I end up with two copies of everything, or nothing at all. This is infuriating. Please work on the original algorithm because what’s happening isn’t cool, and if it continues, you’ll find that more people, including me, uninstall.

This app doesn’t find anything. I had this app for years. A decade actually. I didn’t realize how poor it was until I switched to a competitor. I had to try multiple times for it to find songs I was listening to. A god majority failed. And that is its only job. Who knows how many songs it didn’t find over that decade. But I didn’t want to lose that long history of the songs it did find. I set up an account figuring I could save my history before deleting. Nope. Just feed them all my personal data and got nothing out of it but spam emails. I have no idea how the reviews of this app are so good. Seems very suspicious. Skip this. Literally any other free app for finding songs is better.

Useless. Song is stuck in my head and no matter what I did in this app, it couldn't find it. I bummed it, I sag it, and I typed in its lyrics. Feel free to check for me. "Don't stop the beat. Don't stop the beat. Don't stop the beat. Don't stop the beat" is what I typed in, sang, and hummed. It's a fairly straight forward tune too. I even changed up the words incase I got any of them wrong. I changed all of them except "beat" because I know that is definitely the 4th word. I chose everything that rhymed and since that didn't work, I tried out words that were somewhat similar. I am putting in more than my fair share of work in and this app just wastes it all. Also, the app was poorly designed. Navigating it and accepting things and pressing buttons is a mess. Some buttons say "done" and the notice won't go away when you press it, it goes away when you press somewhere else on the the screen. It sends you to web pages with certain button presses for no reason too. 1 star is generous.

Love love love. I love this app, it’s everything I’ve ever needed for a music app.. tags every song I hear within seconds- songs on the radio, in the grocery store, in a restaurant, on a tv commercial- you name it, it knows it! Then it gives a complete bio on the band, links to their other music/albums, plus lyrics (usually) and a link to buy the song or just favorite it to your playlist. I brag on it all the time! Don’t use that other app (Shazam🤮) this is the best one out there! I’ve been a subscriber for almost 8 years, and it just keeps getting better and better.❤️ Just do it.

Rarely detects songs and gets the years wrong all of the time. Useless. Soundhound…. I used to love it and have always had it on my phones. I have noticed that since getting my first iPhone, it is not so good at identifying songs and much more than half the time, it hears nothing. This renders it pretty useless. The other problem is that I use it for identifying the year a song came out. The other day I gave it a try on a Chicago song that came out in 1982 but Soundhound told me it came out it 2002 because it identified the song as coming from a Best of Chicago album that came out in 2002. That is completely useless to me. For my money, Shazam is much better. As far as I can tell it doesn’t give me a year for a song but it always hears and identifies the songs.

From Hero to Zero. Sound hound was always my app of choice for song identification. I could quickly open it, tap the large button, and close the app all without taking my eyes off the road. Then later I could check my history to see the info about the song. That’s how it worked for what seemed like years. That is until the most recent time I open the app to check my history and I’m greeted with a message saying to register to see my history. All those songs that I hadn’t gotten around to acquiring are now gone in some void, replaced with a screen begging for a registration. I immediately deleted the app. I’m not opposed the registering an account, but to hold my identified songs hostage to fluff up your user base is BS. I went back to Shazam.

5 years. I have been searching for one song for 5 years and I would type in fly fly fly in google search but still never find the song. And today I just saw a random fact saying this was an app where you could hum and find the song. I wasn’t expecting too much after 5 years but I got the app and I hummed, rather badly, and the app found the song I have been searching for for 5 years. Thank you so much. You guys made an amazing app!! Thank you soooo much.

Good at some things, not others. The app works great for recognizing songs from background music, radio, etc. but it’s terrible at figuring out a melody that is hummed, sung, or whistled. I almost always get a “we couldn’t find that one” - many times I am trying to find the title and composer of well-known classical “hits” because I’ e forgotten so many. If it comes up with any results at all, it tends to be Asian pop songs that (let’s face it) use simple sappy melodies. As an experiment I even tried humming, then whistling “Happy Birthday To You” - no results. Before you think I can’t carry a tune, I am a decent singer and musician.

Fantastic music app. This identification music app is super fast and very accurate. I’m good with music and can remember the tunes are lyrics but never remember the song name or artist, so this is perfect for me. It’s also fun to use if you’re out at a bar or sometimes with my parents a song will come on I just keep the phone on my lap activate SoundHound and then I know everything about this song, And they’re amazed I know so much about their old music. It’s great for the music industry also because if I hear a song while I’m out and want to buy it at least I will know what to search for otherwise you just hear the song and you’re not sure of the artist or name.

I Agree With Schimmityweb . . .. I totally agree with Schimmityweb Dude!!! Because for sometime now it seems they play this game of keeping up with the latest app features causing customers the one to ( PAY )for it (the Proverbial sense of paying for it). I’ve been with this app since nearly the beginning if not, and I have over the years written support regarding the change that has taken place with regards to lyrics. Especially when that was a feature that heavily touted when the app first started up. And that feature in itself was one of the main reason I signed up and have tried to maintain loyalty to the app / SoundHound. But I guess the loyalty aspect is only one way. I should be loyal, but they don’t have to because there is always someone else to take my place. A sign of the times. But is it really asking to much to have an app that delivers the title of the song and the right lyrics as the core of the service no matter what else is enhanced or added to that service??? In my opinion the core of the service should NOT be lost because of updates or add-ons’ or enhancements.

Sadly misguided. This review will be short and sweet. What used to be one of my favorite apps, used on a daily basis, is now lost in here somewhere. Hear a song... What is that song? Soundhound it, there it is! Or was. The identity of the song, the artist, a preview to confirm it, the lyrics, a way to retain it all in a database, and email that list to myself or someone else. All great stuff. When it works. No one should get hoarse from yelling at their phone because an app doesn’t work. But I have gotten p***ed off at SoundHound so many times lately. I don’t know if you guys have lost your way or what. Or maybe you’re subscribing to the Reid Hoffman school of software development and just figure it’s ok to be embarrassed by your product, perpetually. Half the time it doesn’t work at all. “No music was heard.” That’s funny; your competitor’s product heard it. Or the song is just not found. I’m not using this app to identify a Lady Gaga song. I’m using it to identify more esoteric stuff, electronic, classical, jazz, “international,” that I hear in the multiple places that I hear music. If you’re no longer interested in those types of music, that’s fine, but then this tool which I have relied on for years will no longer work for me. And it’s so d*mned slow!! It takes the full listening cycle and then an equivalent “searching” time to find half the stuff I listen to. There’s not always going to be that time to catch it! Your competitor’s product pulls it up almost instantly. Big difference. Your ace in the hole is me being able to manage and export my list. And preview everything to confirm. There, I can’t always do that. So you still have something. But you’ve got to work out these other issues!

Great until recently. I have used this app literally for years. It was one of the first apps I downloaded when I first got a smart phone, and I used it all the time. It always gave me accurate results when I wanted to identify a song. More recently however, the app has become increasingly unreliable. I will try to identify a song and the app will claim that it can’t find an internet connection, or it will return some completely unrelated song as a search result, or it will just straight-up not work. It’s extremely disappointing. After so many years of using SoundHound, today I took note of all the songs I’d discovered in my history and uninstalled the app. I’m sad that I can’t rely on this program anymore... but I would rather use a program that works more than 10% of the time.

Where’s the Rest of it???. Been using SoundHound for the past three phones of mine 😂 and it’s always been really great. The response has always been quick and the live lyrics make for some terrible sing-alongs to be had...that all said, it used to give so much more! Where’s the extra information about the musicians and the Similar Artist link? I learned of so much music and music history from this. And the videos? And all of the other really neat features. If I’m the only one who doesn’t have it, well I’ve had bad luck lately so it wouldn’t surprise me, but if it’s truly gone since the update in February, I don’t think I like this app much anymore. Might as well google a song if it doesn’t have the heart and knowledge and all the wonderful work put into it from before. 🤷‍♀️

So amazing if there’s a song stuck in your head and you don’t know what it is. I was humming a song all day long from a movie I know I had watched a million times as a kid but I couldn’t figure it out and it was driving me mental. I searched if there was an app that could help me and SoundHound came up so I downloaded it, hummed the song that was driving me crazy, and 1 second later I had my answer. It was the theme song to Home Alone! Thanks for saving me lots of frustration SoundHound 👍🏻

SoundHound completes my life. So many times I have desperately wanted to know the name of a song... these songs touched me in a certain way and made me feel... the prospect of not knowing what the title or artist saddened me and then SoundHound came along and now my life is complete... as a bonus, there is a wonderful feature that saves searches in a history file... after using the app for a while I discovered the search history and decided it would make an awesome iTunes playlist and SoundHound Vol 1 was born... again completeness 🌝

Appreciative but disappointed. I am fairly new to the SoundHound world, so far I have really enjoyed learning ALL the different features SoundHound offers. I’m not tech savvy in the least so it’s taking longer than it would most to find all these great features. The experience has been great, but, I have to say on one song I was truly disappointed with the playback I received. One of my all time favorites is Back in Black by AC/DC, the playback was a live in concert version. When I heard that come over my speakers, I just dropped my head, SO DISAPPOINTED! Other than that, I have been extremely happy with Sound Hound, I’ve been recommending y’all to everyone 🙂 Oh yeah, you really don’t have to be tech savvy, AT ALL, to use Sound Hound, that’s just to show you how bad at it I am 😊

Glitchy, doesn’t recognize any songs. I’ve used this app a million times in the past with great results. Today I tried singing a song I know some of the lyrics to and all of the melody but can’t find. It says there are no close matches, even though off the top of my head I know this song sounds musically similar to a lot of songs, so that surprised me. Then just to see what was up I hummed the fully melody to Womanizer by Britney Spears. It said there were no close matches. I did it again, same thing. What...? Then I sang womanizer with the lyrics and then it recognized it. I hummed the full melody, again said there were no matches, Something is wrong with this, it never needed perfect lyrics before to recognize a popular melody, or even an obscure melody. I can see that other reviewers are saying something is broken too. Can you guys please fix this? Why would this app that recognized a very short fragment of a hummed Beethoven symphony two years ago, suddenly not recognize the hummed fully melody of womanizer? Something is clearly wrong here.

Identifying classical vs modern music. Modern “tunes” are identified in the following order: title, performer, and perhaps composer. This is the appropriate ordering and this app does that well. Buying modern tunes starts with the title. Classical music, however, requires that the composer be identified first, followed by the title of the piece, and lastly the performer(s). This app consistently FAILS to identify the composer. So, typically one will see something like only Piano Sonata #3 followed by the performer. But whose work is that? Sometimes the album cover shown has the composer’s name if it’s a major work, but often there are multiple composer’s shown if the pieces are smaller. This happened again this morning. The local classical music station was playing an unknown piece identified by this app as Piano Concerto #1 performed by some artist and a German orchestra. The composer could not be determined by the album cover. Worse, the announcer mentioned the performer at the end of the piece, but not the composer. Buying classical music starts with the composer. Surely there’s someone out there smart enough the correct this situation.

Best app ever. Me and my friends have been trying to find this song from a club for a year and half. We have one single video that is 4 seconds and we have been using every app out there to try to find this song. Nothing could detect it, but we discovered this app, and it recognized the song with only a 4 second video. This app saved my well being and saved me from going insane trying to find this song. I have been listening to it on repeat and say a prayer every day thanking the creators of this app. I’m planning on cooking a thanksgiving meal in honor of this app. THANK YOU FOR THIS BLESSING. Thank you, A desperate women

Was a 5 Star now just a 3 star. I’ve had this app for years and I absolutely love the features and the UI but.... I have thousands (almost 10,000) of songs stored on my phone but it will only let me access playlists. Now I know I can fool the app by saving my library as a playlist but.... I lose a lot of functionality by doing so. I would 5 Star love the app if it was a legitimate player as well as a music find, identify, and share/purchase app. And I agree with another reviewer. The map part rocks. I do use it to search for new music based on other users who seem to share my very broad tastes in music. I hardly use the app now though as I am too limited in my library access.

SoundHound Rating. I LOVE Soundhound❣️ My husband introduced it to me about a year ago and I have used it to see who the artist of a song is, to see the lyrics on a song playing on the radio or my favorite TV Station “ Contemporary Christian Music”. It keeps a song I love on a playlist and can go back and listen to it again anytime I want to. There are so many things you can do and/or find out about a song, an artist, search for a song even if you only know part of the lyrics and it will 9out of 10 times find the name of the song and artist, I could go on and on about SoundHound it is my all time FAVORITE APP of all the millions you can get! My husband use to be my “SoundHound”. When I met him he was a DJ and knows who, what, when, where about most any song in any genre. Even though he knows so much about music he has SoundHound and loves it too. I figured he uses it to see if he is right about a song he heard. Again. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT❣️

Saved my sanity!. I never leave reviews but, this app saved my sanity!!! For months I have been trying to find a song I used to listen to and I could not remember the name of the song or who sang it. I done web searches trying to look up the lyrics so many times, and came up completely empty handed every time. I came across this app and it seemed more promising than others so, I downloaded it. Within TWO MINUTES of downloading this app, I was able to search partial lyrics of the song and find it!!! Finally after months of frustration, this app saved my sanity!!! BEST APP OF ITS KIND!

I really need help. So basically, there are 3 problems: 1. Most of the time, when I’m trying to get SoundHound to recognize music on my Apple Watch, it says that that no music was heard, even though it’s really loud and I’m right next to it! 2. The only thing I can see on my watch is the SoundHound music recognize button and the songs it’s recognized, but I can’t play them! What the heck! 3. This is kind of part of my second reason, but for my watch I can’t play the songs and I can’t see my playlist! Theres no settings button on SoundHound for Apple Watch either!

Good app, not certain about the hate.. Disclaimer: This review is written within minutes of downloading the app. It will not include problems with using the app in the long term. So I downloaded this app in the hopes of finding a song that has been driving me insane for 6 months because I couldn’t think of its name. I read a lot of hate comments in recent months absolutely flaming this app, and I cannot tell if it’s legitimate, because they all cite the same problem. So I was skeptical going into using the app. I hummed the tune twice and didn’t get any results right away, which is when I realized that you have to go into the history tab of the app in order to actually find the results, because lo and behold, there’s the song that had been stuck in my head for months. So again, I’m not certain about this app, or if this was a “one off never gonna happen again” scenario, but the app did what I wanted it to do, and so it gets four stars for finding a song I couldn’t remember, but loses one for the awful formatting.

Limited Value. It will find the song but ONLY if it is 1) a major pop hit, 2) exactly as the original hit, 3) and there are absolutely no other sounds. It will not identify cover versions of songs or anything that is not a major mainstream hit, or even different edit of a major pop hit. As someone who listens to Americana, folk, and roots music, it mostly blanks on the song I hope to identify. I had a Google song finder app on Pixel 2 several years ago that picked up songs that I could barely hear in the background and it also identified cover versions and more obscure tunes. This app needs some serious upgrading to be truly useful.

really good but doesnt get it all. 9/10 times it works. very rarely does radio stations announce what songs they play and Often, I can’t find the songs by typing in the lyrics are asking people. This app has been able to identify most of the songs. Saves me a lot of hours of research. but unfortunately it doesnt know come dancing by the kinks. that is a relatively common song. I’m surprised it couldn’t get it. Thank you for making this application.

Used to be great.... SoundHound used to be great. It would find any song, you were able to type in some lyrics and find the song you were looking g for. I bought a lot of music from songs i found here. But something has changed with this app. Today i was trying to find (once again) a song i remembered by Earth Wind and Fire. When i typed it in, i didn’t even get the artist. I got a handful of songs, most of which weren’t even sung by them. The album section had 2 of their albums and a bunch of karaoke albums. WTH! where are songs? Where are the dozens of albums they’ve made? What is going on? After using this app for years do i have go looking for a decent music app? I am not happy about this. At all.

Was better before. . .. Used to be able to turn the phone sideways (landscape mode) and the lyrics would appear larger and would scroll up. Somewhere along the line that functionality was removed from the app and now it only shows lyrics in portrait mode (small text) . In addition it seems to me the app is having a more difficult time recognizing music playing and comes up with “can’t find that one “ more often than previously. No real proof just an overall impression. Still a good app though. 👍

New update ruined it.. I always thought this was better than Shazam. But I’m switching back. Before this app would immediately pop up lyrics for whatever you were listening to (which was probably the highlight of this app in my opinion), but not anymore. They’re now trying too hard to keep up with this thing everyone is doing when they talk to their devices. Which I think is dumb, unnecessary, and a trade down from previous features. Now they’re persistent on having you make an account and attach your Facebook and a bunch of unnecessary crap. I just want to know what song I’m listening to, and I’d like the option to see what lyrics go with it! That too much to ask for?!

Unreliable. I get melodies, choruses, and sometimes random lyrics stuck in my head and need to find them. I’ve had almost zero success at finding songs that way. Tonight was the real deal breaker for me. I could remember the melody for this one part of Bubble Pop Electric. I was humming it correctly, I tried both higher and lower pitch. I tried singing it. I started to remember the lyrics, though at the moment I wasn’t sure it was the correct lyrics. I sang them, and it was actually the correct lyrics, but SoundHound still could not get even close. Eventually I found the song, but it wasn’t through SoundHound. I’m officially done since this app has been more frustrating than helpful most of the times I’ve used it.

Amazing!. How in heck the developers did it, programmed this HUGE library of recognition--or whatever it would be called to techies--is so amazing! I mean, everything I've thrown at it, it's recognized. High praise & accolades to what should be an award-winning app! Thank you for the ability to use it without a subscription, for I don't do subscriptions. People, especially younger people, don't see just how much of their lifetime's assets for their later years are being irretrievably given away for immediate gratification on this and that. The subscription economy is great wealth for the subscribed-to company at too high a price for those average joes

Original content. Utilizing musically driven algorithms have generated several sources known or unknown to be dominantly global, galactic, celestial .To which( said music app/algorithm identifies artists) Our music originates only hear on planet earth? Righteously my input derives from pure experience while from influence.Q:Where? when?who? Why?How?A: sound is biologically linked to life forms and humankind indefinitely(like an element) concluding that all musical derivations (pertained to those circles of questions)originate from experience, influence of life to death and youthfulness. Remember it’s My opinion. I’ve loved this application since it’s release date. If you’re reading this; download SoundHound to explore musical awareness. Greg-

The best song finder PERIOD. Ive used a few, but I found this one in suggestions. And I have been using it for almost 6 years. Not only is it accurate but it picks up songs anywhere! Middle of a restaurant, barely hear the person next to you, and you happen to catch that song playing faintly in the background? Stick your phone up and SoundHound always gets it. In the next room and stereo is on across the house? Yep, it gets it. Simply my favorite reason for this app. It gets the song regardless of the background noise.

“We couldn’t find that one” without a “save” option. When there’s no internet connection, there’s an option to save the search. When a sound can’t be found, there is no save option. Please fix that. Give me the option to save regardless. I’m almost certain that used to be an option. Please don’t make me turn to Shazam. I really don’t want to. I’m very comfortable here. Also, could you please make your playback for saved searches better? Here’s a tip: Snapchat has the voice note feature in their chat. Listen to voice notes there vs. the playback on SoundHound saved searches. If there’s a way to make it sound clearer and sharper, I’d appreciate it. Thank you.

This app belongs in the trash and should be deleted permanently. SoundHound is an absolutely terrible app, and I can't stress this enough. First off, its song recognition is a joke. How can an app that's supposed to identify music fail so miserably? I mean, even when you play a crystal-clear snippet of a popular song, it still manages to get it wrong half the time. It's beyond frustrating. And don't even get me started on its database; if the song isn't mainstream, forget about it. It's like the app is stuck in a time warp with a limited selection of tracks it can recognize. Then there's the user interface, which is a complete nightmare to navigate. It's cluttered, confusing, and loaded with ads that slow everything down. Seriously, who thought this design was a good idea? Trying to find what you need feels like wading through a swamp of unnecessary menus and pop-ups. The constant interruptions from ads make the entire experience unbearable. It's like the developers prioritized ad revenue over user experience, and it shows. And let's talk about the so-called additional features. The lyrics are often wrong or incomplete, which is just ridiculous. How hard is it to get the lyrics right? And the artist information? Outdated and sparse. It's like they don't even care about providing accurate or comprehensive details. This app had so much potential, but it's been squandered by poor execution and a lack of attention to detail. SoundHound is a colossal disappointment, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Love sound hound / but recent glitch. Let me begin by saying: I LOVE SOUND HOUND. (I would never use that “other” app—ya know, the one who says old what’s his name’s ⚡️SHAname.) >>> that said, in the current version, basically since around the release of ios 14, (though before I installed ios14...)... maybe a little before then too, there’s this glitch that happens repeatedly: every 2-3 listens/searches, when you tap the “done listening” button, SH begins to search—and then, for no good reason at all, throws itself out of search mode and back into the “still listening” mode ... which then, without fail, ends fruitlessly (in any number of error messages... “still humming?” “no internet connection” ... maybe “no music heard” I can’t remember. Or else, the search just ends, unceremoniously returning you to the app’s main page ... as if the whole last search never happened.) Anyone else? Or am I THE ONLY ONE?? 🥳

Return User - Excellent App!. So, my wife and I are music fiends; grew up on it, love most genres - well, except country but that’s for personal reasons no room to explain - whenever a song is played on a tv show or movie - or anywhere really - that catches our attention, we love to use our phones to find out who the artist is and song name. Well, we once used this app years ago; but as apps and space became an issue it sadly went away. Mainly because hey, “Siri has the same feature right?” Let me tell you this people: Siri has digressed in many ways since it’s period of amazing us. When Siri continues to take FOREVER to reply to the simple request of identifying the song - no, this is not a WiFi or network issue as most of you will agree - the song is OVER or the cutscene where the song is used is long gone and Siri still is identifying....well, we’ve had enough. This app is great, always has been. We are happy with its features and will NOT be using “you know who” for those requests anymore...or most other things these days...but that’s a different story. Great app keep up the good work developers!

Acting weird lately. It's a great app and I have been using it for over a decade. Never had anything go wrong with the app. App always works best with wifi, even without it's pretty good. And had worked well even in a busy restaurant to figure out a song. Yet recently I noticed the app search feature doesn't load at all. It can still recognize a song automatically, but if you type anything into the search bar nothing shows, not even suggestions. I thought it was a fluke so I placed a popular song name that I knew would come up "thriller" but nothing showed. All it showed was the word i typed in the search bar.

zingin-in-the-tune. Again...another app gone commercial. Customer satisfaction no longer exists, just numbers... What once was, no longer exists... I still have this app on an Old phone. Works totally different there, like it should be working today! I forgot about this app after a couple of phones. One day, I came across it again and decided to download it. What a Mistake! I remember when no one knew about this app. I/We, would actually have to help them build their library. I would play songs, then, as per their request when the music could not be found, I would enter the information for the music! Classical, indie pop, classic jazz, oldies but goldies, underground, and on, and on... WE made this app! Now, after all OUR help building THEIR library, they give us this horrible app. Can't just find the song and add it to your library, can't even Listen to it unless you want to Pay for more Options. What a Ripoff! Too bad WE can't have a Wiki-type music app!?!? So Sad.

What happened??. I used to LOVE this app! I used it to search for almost every song I heard because I am a music junkie but ironically I’m not the best at remembering artists’ names or what songs are sung by which artists. Lately however, very very very RARELY is this app able to identify a single song! If it does, its only if its a total chart topper or extremely simple. But pretty much all songs come up with zero matches & absolutely no guesses as to which song it might be. Now I’m not sure when the paid version of this app was released or if that’s even relevant... Unfortunately I’m a little suspicious that this lack of song identifying is a tactic to get customers to spend money on the paid version of this app because this free one no longer works & is anything but helpful or reliable. Disappointed for sure!

I’m giving you 3 stars.. So I was just adding songs to my playlist but then I searched up a song called “bones” by imagine dragons and the song did not pop up. So I tried a couple more songs and then another one didn’t work. It was called “tag your it” by Melanie Martinez. Another song was “middle of the night” by Elley duhe. And I think there are more song that are unlisted. Please add these song that are unlisted because this can be annoying to some music people. If you do this I will change the rating from a 3 to a 5. Thank you! And also make sure to keep up with the song rate. Or this can happen again. Once again, thank you!

It doesn’t work right.. This app doesn’t work for me. I was playing guitar and played this riff I randomly remembered. So I downloaded this app and played it to it, but it couldn’t come up with anything. After consulting a family member, it turned out to be a bit from “Nothing Else Matters”. To further test the app I played several other songs into it, hummed songs to it, and even sang the lyrics to several classic songs to this app. It failed every single time. It only works when I play the original recording by the artist. Now, I realize other people have had wonderful experiences with this app, so it could be a hardware issue on my end, or maybe even a pebkac error. I don’t know. But my experience with it was negative.

I’m not happy.. This app is great and all, but... I just downloaded it on a BRAND NEW iPhone 11, and it won’t create or add tracks to the “SoundHound History” playlist like it was clearly designed to do. It hasn’t created that playlist, it just won’t. I’ve tried several times, and I’ve been troubleshooting since. Everything is enabled and allowed in my settings app, I signed up for a SoundHound account, I even tried creating the “SoundHound History” playlist myself with no signs of success. There are NO forums out there to help with this issue, which is surprising considering SoundHound has released numerous videos with Q&A. All I wanted was to learn the names of songs I like, and add them to a designated playlist. Can someone please help me, so that I can make this review into a much more positive one?

Helps me when my brain fails me. I hate hearing a song, knowing what it is but can I name it... that’s when SoundHound rarely lets me down. Brilliant. Thank you Soundhound.

Enya. Easy song always comes up wrong no amount of wiggling changes it Disappointed

So good. Found my song I was looking for straight away

Hi My name is Zohreh from iran .. I am living in Adelaide Australia I am happy with sound hound I can find every song I heard

Distasteful Ads. This was a good app but unfortunately now displays those disgusting ads from Temu that are designed to look pornographic from a distance. I am embarrassed now to use this app as other people might get the impression I'm browsing porn.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. Any song title you would like to know when you hear a song you like. It will be recognised by soundhound just by clicking the icon button. Keep it up

Best app. I always don't know song names but know the songs this app is amazing

Amazing App. I was searching for hours to find a song I had heard years ago. Downloaded the app and found it in five seconds even with my terrible singing voice 😂. Such a good app. Highly recommended.

Best track searching application. Best sound Application ever especially for Dj’s...keep up the great work SoundHound 😎

Top App. I have been using this app for years and it’s never let me down! it alway able to identity the song in question!! Highly recommend

👍🏼👍🏼. The only app I use after going through several apps

Music luva. Love using this app for the titles and artists. All gone well for a year or so till now. Just tried to prove to myself that Lynn Anderson sung rose garden. App came up with Tammy Wynette and Stand by your man, 3 times. Even the lyrics displayed were for stand by your man. Had to actually enter the song title into the search bar for the app to find it. Maybe a glitch. I don’t know. Otherwise keep up the good work.

They’re after the money. I purchased this app before, and it’s been working perfectly fine until they updated it. Now it is showing ads on the bottom of the screen. It’s asking me to purchase it again. What a ripoff.

Sound Hound. Just a great App. When listening to the radio, have SH listening too, within a few seconds it will identify that long lost title n artist, saving you racking your brains n memory to do the same thing. Then if necessary take a screen shot as backup. Now with U Tube playback....just great. Well done, highly recommended. Thnx 😊😊😊 For older people with decades of music listening behind them SOUND HOUND is pure gold ! Yes, I'm an old guy, but music is "The food of love" - that's from A Midsummer Night's Dream" so, "Play on!" ...... SoundHound helps you do that in Spades !

Useful. I use it intermittently and always feel thankful. Yay for the history to help my poor old brain remember “that song”.

Handy app. Great app, picks up on songs well, you can even hum if you are good enough and it will pick up on that too..Try it

iTunes has please. Can't seem to be able to buy songs on my iTunes account like I could before, disappointed.

Great App, love it. Easy to use and really helpful for finding songs that we heard from outside or radios.

Great app for identifying music titles. Can pick up most music very well and identify accurately. I’m loving this app and would totally recommend it to anyone who wants to identify music titles. Can identify a large number of songs title which are in English well.

This is great. I had a song playing in my head but couldn’t remember any words to search for it. This app gave a list of possible songs from my humming and one of them was it! I’m so glad I’ve found this app

Thought it was good 😤. Let me tell you how I got it. I had this song stuck in my head so I searched on google for some apps to get it out of my head. And google suggested sound hound so I downloaded sound hound I looked at the comments about sound hound and most of them was good so I tried it out I hummed the song in my head and it said it couldn’t find any songs that sounded like the song stuck in my head so I tried humming a different song and it said it couldn’t find any songs! I tried again third times the charm and it didn’t work so I deleted it. If it worked for you then LUCKY YOU I HATE THIS APP!

Meh. Good app but often cannot detect any music even when I put it loud or medium volume. Not as good as I remember it being as a kid. I often just Google the lyrics

This app used to be awesome. What have they done to sound hound? This was an awesome app. It’s now rubbish. It hasn’t been able to identify a song in ages when it used to get songs 9/10 times. I think it’s time to delete it.

My go-to for finding great songs in my travels. Love being able to discover the music I discover in my travels to random bars and café’s around the city.

Always reliable. Every time I have used SoundHound it has been accurate. I find it a quick & reliable way to identify music and I like that it keeps a list of my previous catches.

SoundHound. So easy to use just open and go picks everything I’m listening to .

Sound what. This app is getting worse every time they update it. It’s unstable and unable to pick common songs. Today I gave it the chance to identify a song five times and each time gave me a totally unrelated song. Other times can’t even find a song. Useless for musicals.

Pretty good. 9 times out of 10 will let you know what the song is, has problems with K-POP and songs in other languages some times

Doesn’t know many songs. I have to admit, this app is pretty cool as it’s the first one I’ve found you can hum into. The problem is, there basically aren’t any songs that aren’t mainstream!! When I first downloaded the app, I tested with my favourite song and it came up with a message telling me to try again later as ‘they always update their library’. I don’t get the point of having an app that can barely recognise any songs!

It’s amazing. The app is just amazing for a free app and you can find almost any song on it, it works like 99% of the time it’s just amazing.

I wish i could give more than 5 stars. This app has undoubtably been the best thing i’ve ever encountered. More people should know about it. Ive had the same song stuck in my head for 6 months! Ive hummed it for my friends and family and tried to hum it for Shazam, but every time i have been disappointed. I could not find the song for so long.... then i saw 5is app recommended to me when looking up ways to find a song you dont know lyrics to. I didnt know the lyrics, so i thought id give it a shot. The FIRST attempt i did at humming the song gave me the song i wanted.... ive never been so happy. 6 MONTHS!!! I waited 6 months and now thanks to this app i could find it in one search. I love this app so much.

Great but with a delay. Works great, but later versions take a long time to open so sometimes by the time the app is running, the song is over.... 😞

Great App. I’ve always preferred SoundHound over other options. Easy, great functions (real time lyrics) and high accuracy. 👌🏻

Fantastic!. I’ve had this app since 2012! We have done what feels like 1000s of song searches! I love it! “I’ll just soundhound it”

SoundHound. Been a fan for years, this app gives you everything you need if you’re a music lover👍😊💕

It got whta I wanted. Hum the song and get it, good thing for finding songs.

Used to be great now unusable. I just want to open sound hound and find out what song is playing and save that in history. Now it comes up with some unexitable demo about how to play songs with speech recognition. Wants you to sign-up. Keeps prompting things, plays Justin Bieber songs. I just want the one function that it used to have, that now I can't even find where it is. This is the most important function and the only reason to have the app. It should be extremely easy to reach so it's no brainer in the car to catch the song before it's over.

better than Shazam. the only place I found the song I was looking for

Great App. Can not fault it used it for more than a year no probs at all I give it 50 stars this app works a lot better than Malcolm Turdbull & co

Joe. I play music over a community radio station and "Sound Hound" is a great help during song searches

Insanely satisfying. I’ve repeatedly had songs stuck in my head - normally I just give up and forget about it. Not anymore! I just whistled a tune, not remembering a single lyric, and found the song, “Eyes on Fire” by Blue Foundation. Neither the name of the song nor the artist name rang a bell - but that was the song that popped in my head! The satisfaction was a new positive sensation for me. This app solves a real problem. I love it.

Awesome. Had the app forever and I love it, it has so many great features such as real time lyrics! Forget Shazam - SoundHound is much better.

Love sound hound. Always accurate & reliable

Used to work. Last few times I went to find a song, says it couldn’t find. Despite having it on higher volume and being clear. Won’t be using anymore

Too many annoying notifications. Between the ads and the dumb notifications, I don’t see the point. Particularly as Siri does quite well with song recognition now anyways.

The best app ever. This app is really good in my opinion. It’s so cool how whenever I hum a song that has been stuck in my head for a really REALLY long time but I don’t know what the song is called or who composed it, this app can listen to you hum the song and then give you the name of the song! I really recommend people to get this app. It is really good in my opinion!

Awesome app. Have had the app for a while now and found it to be awesome. Great when you want to know or can’t remember who sings a song :-) 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Can’t find Japanese songs. Can’t find Japanese songs at all, maybe only works for English songs

Rarely finds anything that isn’t mainstream. What is this for? Find the latest Taylor Swift song maybe? There’s basically no cataloging of anything mildly interesting. You don’t have to go as far as DJ sets (I get it, there’s so many live gigs), but the app rarely finds a song being played on the radio - which is what I thought this is for. Unless of course you listen to KissFM or some latest hits station. Which is ridiculous because those songs, you can find anyway.

Works great!. Probably one of few apps that actually still seems “magical”!

What a Joke. It never finds the song lol what a joke

Does not work anymore. I have found some of my favourite songs using this app years ago. Now, it hasn’t worked for like 5 songs in a row.

It has worked well. I’ve enjoyed SoundHound

Parfait pour identifier une tune !. Cette application est parfaite pour identifier les chansons que j’entends à la radio. A partir de cela, je peux créer mes listes de lecture sur Spotify avec mes chansons préférées!

Used to be great. I have had to revise my opinion of this app. I have been using it for years and it was great. But recent updates have left it unable to find even popular songs. Also they have added the sentence “ahh 💩we couldn’t find that one” . Really how old are they. Going to delete it and find an app that works. It truly is a shame as this was my go to app.

Used to love app. Used to love this app. Now it can’t seem to find any new songs

Doesn’t identify any songs anymore. I try and identify with billboard top 20 tunes from the 70s and 80s. None detected. Is the back end down?

Better than Shazam. I've been looking for a song for days and everytime I hummed it to Shazam, nothing came up. I decided to install Soundcloud and give it another go, within a few seconds of me humming, it suggested two potential matches. The first one was the song I had been looking for. Will definitely keep using this app, highly recommend it!!

Don’t waste your time. Biggest waste of time. Humming whistling singing nothing works. I even purposely tested lyrics from a song I know and it says “this app is 💩”

Amazing tor classical music!. Way better than Shazam for classical music, literally day and night. Thank you!! Please add Youtube music support 🙏🏻

NO UPDATE!. When is the NEXT update? Been a while and this app is not working like it used to!

Outdated. This app used to be good. It doesn’t seem to be maintained anymore as it doesn’t seem to be able to identify any new songs.

Great while travelling. Was in Greece recently, and would come across different radio stations, a lot of jazz, contemporary and Greek music and often wanted to know the artist and the song. Soundhound always found them. Allowed me to build a really cool playlist to go along with my photos. Cool.

Very poor lately. Not sure what’s up with sound hound! Couldn’t tell you any songs lately 5 try’s and still nothing Used to be a good app but not worth having now

No longer works. It just straight up stopped recognizing any song.

Used to be good. Now it doesn’t work 99% of the time.

doesn’t work in canada. trash

Use to love it but now it’s junk. I use to love this app. Now I can’t get it to know ANY of what is playing. Tried deleting and reinstalling it but no changes.

Better than Shazam. Shazam didn’t understand the humming but this one did

Can’t Identify New Songs. SoundHound is great for identifying older or classic music, but it fails miserably identifying news hit music.

Took my money wt*. Downloaded this app to see if it’s better then Shazam and then get an email that this fkin app took 10 bucks off of me when I didn’t even sign up or agree to anything, just installed and uninstalled 10 minutes later, what a fkin joke

Love this. Yes

What Happened?!. This was always my go to music search app, now it rarely identifies anything? Very sad 😕

Audio adds when listening to a tune. Whoever thought putting audio adds into a audio listening app is an idiot

Why does it not play Punjabi dongs. Poor

Doesn’t work anymore. This app was incredible at identifying tunes ~12+ years ago when I first downloaded it—even through other background noise. Somehow it’s gotten worse? Maybe they need to expand their library and improve their parameters. It’s so strange to me that the tech appears to have been better ages ago.

Useless. Doesn’t work at all

Must have app!!. Love it

Simply doesn’t work. It’s not even recording!

Doesn’t work anymore. I’ve used this app since it first came out I don’t know how many years ago. It was way better than any other similar app. Haven’t used it over a year and trying it now it can’t find any song. What happened

Love it. Able to quickly identify a song I love so that I can add it to my iTunes library.

Wow very surprising so far!!. I have absolutely nothing but good experiences so far!

Worst. App was great at first, but then got so bad at finding songs…

Wow. This app just keeps getting better. I’m a fan!

Bob Dylan. Couldn’t even recognize like a rolling stone. Not the best

One word. Awesome !!! I love this app 🤘🏻😈🤘🏻

Used to be good. Paid users now have ads. Paid for this before. Now it’s showing ads and asking for another payment. Restoring purchase does not work either. Yet another app that “goes” free and shows ads - even for previous users.

Works 1% of the time. Even with THE exact sound playing it couldn’t recognize it, and no chance when it’s you that is singing it.

Get this app. One of my favourite apps. Just gets it done.

Humming doesn’t work. If you are looking for the app for humming this is not it!

Love it when it’s working. I have loved this app for a decade. As of late it can’t find any songs. I have started looking for songs I know to test it. No humming either. Sad, I hope it’s fixed soon.

Used to be better. Have they fixed their issues yet? Used to love this app, it could always find obscure songs, and I loved that it could link to my Spotify so I could add the songs to my lists directly. However, in the last year, it could hardly diagnose any of the songs I tried to capture, almost as if it wasn’t connected to the internet. (I checked, not the issue.) I found myself using it less and less, seeking other options. Apple’s iphone’s newer integration of its competitor’s app as a quick button option has convinced me to delete this app. Maybe I’ll be convinced to switch again if they improve.

A once-effective app has died. Largely useless now.. This app USED to be really good at identifying songs, I couldn't stump it. Now? 9 out of 10 times it finds nothing, and when it does find something sometimes it's completely wrong and irrelevant. I just had the worst one. Rick and Morty, Season 5, Episode 3 has a techno song I'd like to know. Seems unlikely to have been made for the episode, no singing so no lyrics to search, so SoundHound is my only choice. Comes up with a short audio clip from some kids' show, sounds like the tail of the theme song and goes into the start of the episode. This clip has no business being IN the database in the first place, and it sounds nothing like the music I fed it at least 5 times! I hold the microphone up to whatever speakers to get the cleanest read, I make sure there's no other sound, there's nothing else I can do! How did SoundHound forget how to identify music? Seems like maintaining the actual functionality took a back seat to adding the ability to play the SAME music off of the internet and show lyrics, highlighting current lines to be overly fancy, as if we just want to sing along. Two features that are cute but not terribly useful, less than the actual task of this app. I just updated to see if it made it work again, nope, still makes the same mistakes. Now I have to find and install a second, hopefully more functional, app. I hate such redundancy. Only gave a second star because of the times it DOES work.

Formerly great, now barely recogizes anything R.I.P.. I loved this app until recently when it became progressively less able to recognize songs. Now it misses chart topping rock and pop songs pretty much every time. Same with TV show soundtracks. Maybe one in ten or twenty searches will succeed. I truly hope this will be fixed.

Everyone should have this app. Love it. So thorough and simple to use!

Why take away awesome features?. I used to live this app for the simple fact that I could listen to music from my own library and use SoundHound to display live lyrics while listening. So disappointed to discover that feature is longer available. I’ll be looking for a new app to fill this void. Thanks for the good years. Good luck in the future.

No Canadian artists. SoundHound is ok, as long as you’re not trying to identify Canadian music. As a Canadian, that’s a bit of a problem.

No better than Shazam. Never find anything not even Mozart or Beethoven

Sometime. Finds about 50% of songs! Not the greatest

useless - hummung or whistling is not working. I had a song stuck in my head (it still is) but could only remember the melody. SoundHound sounded like a solution, but alas - too good to be true - it couldn’t find anything by whistling or by humming. Then I tried to hum and whistle very famous songs like Yesterday, or Halleluya - it didn’t find them either! Sometimes it was showing some unrelated results in Chinese, but mostly - nothing. Then I tried to sing them with words, and finally - voila, it works! So - it’s almost useless, because if I know the words, I can find a song anyway... Also - in the free version, the ad is often obscuring the button, so I must stop and restart the search. Don’t understand the 5 star ratings...

Time for an update. This app is having more and more problems picking up on song even when u can hear the song nice, loud, and clear. Yet the app keeps saying that it can’t hear the music or that there’s no internet connection even when there is. I remember first using this app and it was actually really good sometimes it would even catch songs that other apps couldn’t. I would like to continue using this app but if this continues I’m gonna have to resort to another app. In all I think it’s time for an update to fix these problems

Great but used to be better. Love SoundHound! But before the apparent changes, the library of songs seemed to be deeper and identifying the songs was way faster. Plus they always would bring up the lyrics. And they used to sync with music award shows like the Grammies so you could look up the new groups as they performed. Wasn’t able to do that on the last awards show I watched. Drat! Doesn’t happen now. Definitely get the app, it’s great. But I miss the old days before they “improved” it.

Beyond Amazing. Had an obscure soundtrack song stuck in my head and it was killing me that I couldn’t remember what movie it was from. Being a soundtrack, classical style song with no lyrics, there’s nothing I could Google to figure it out. I stumbled onto mention of this app, and that it could look up songs based on humming, so I thought, “what the hell.” I’m not even that good at humming, and first try, it nailed it (turned out to be “Arrival To Earth” from Transformers). I’m beyond impressed. So long Shazam!

Can’t identify singing or humming well at all. I’m a musician so I can sing on key. I tried singing Steve Miller Band’s “Space Cowboy”, Duke Ellington’s “Take The A Train”, Jefferson Airplane’s “Lather”, and Van Morrison’s “Moondance.” The latter was the only tune SoundHound could recognize. The first few times I sang the songs without lyrics, just scatting or humming; the next few times I actually sang the lyrics. No results for any of them except “Moondance.” So the song you are trying to get this app to recognize had better be extremely obvious, in which case you probably already knew the name of the song to begin with! Pretty poor app for song identification using voice. Deleted.

Used to be good. Many years ago I shook the hand of one of the developers at a conference. This app was the best thing I had on my phone. You could launch it in seconds and near instantly start identifying music. It is 10 years later and I just rage deleted it. It takes 20+ seconds to launch, then the ads come up, then the listen button comes up. When you press it is says a bunch of stupid stuff, and eventually it says it couldn’t hear anything. Siri named the tune within 5 seconds of me asking it to. That’s all I wanted. This app has lost its way. In 10 years it has gotten worse with every release. It is time to part ways with it.

Downloaded because I’m a shareholder. I wanted to delete Shazam and use SoundHound fully because I own shares of it. However as much as I like the app, there’s a BIG flaw in it in my opinion. There’s no setting to add SoundHound to the control center (iPhone) the same way you can with Shazam. Adding this small but helpful feature is my turning point on deleting Shazam off of my phone and making SoundHound my primary music ID app.

Still wasn’t able to find a song stuck in my head. The general premise of the app is great and it accurately can find other songs I hum along or have the lyrics to. There’s one song I can’t find that made me download the app. I’m desperate to find what it’s called but this app either doesn’t have it in its library or it can’t recognize what I’m humming. Very disappointed I can’t find this song but it’s most likely on my end and not the app’s fault.

Convenient as it is awesome. Ever heard a song on the radio that you loved, but the DJ didn’t say the name or even who it was? Doesn’t that make you mad? Well will this app, all you have to do is pull it up and press the center a button, takes a few seconds and it tells you the song, artist, album, and even gives you links to buy the song. It also has a lyric scroll so you can sing along. There’s really nothing bad to say about it. I love it.

What Happen. When this app first came out years ago it was awesome. It was able to find it starts songs that Shazam could not do ever sense and for the past year and in the updates in the search engine is not functional. App over Shazam but now it can’t at times pull the most recent songs or artists. The response time of the search engine is Eva slow. There is no doubt in comparing the two apps that Shazam has gotten an edge over this app. You guys know from experience that your app is not up to par with Shazam please make me a believer in next Suzanne wants the better search engine music app and I will go back to reading this a five star

You messed up the lyrics. The lyrics were much better before. It would follow the words perfect and you could tilt to horizontal for big easy to follow words. Also the dark background was much easier on the eyes. I used to use SoundHound just for the lyrics. Now just for a song I don’t know. When I used it for the lyrics, it was easily 5 times more. Now I hardly use it. I wish I didn’t upgraded. Please go back to the way you had the lyrics before. Also, the entire setup is worse. Before you had choices of what platform you wanted to play the song including videos. I just downloaded an app called Shazam. It is perfect. It is even better than the old Sound Hound. I am editing this I originally write this a while ago. It took me 30 seconds to know Shazam is what I want. It has videos and the lyrics scroll perfect with a nice dark background. It just looks nicer and took me seconds to figure it out. I will test it out more and update it.

A 4.9 rating can not be legitimate. At least 90 % of the time, I have to try at least twice for SoundHound to identify a song. Even worse it can’t find around 60% of the songs. My most common thought when using this app is “what the …”. This app is especially frustrating when I remember the song from the past, but I just forgot about it. This should be a great resource to identify and then drop that memory in a playlist. Well at least that was the plan. BTW, I have the most updated software on both, my iphone 15 and the app, plus I performed a soft reset. Therefore, I hope the developer will be helpful, not hurtful regarding this review.

Love SoundHound. I love SoundHound because it recognizes every song I have to find. I use it all the time. I got Shazam after getting SoundHound because it’s popular, but Shazam doesn’t recognize every song, then I put SoundHound on and it gets the song that Shazam failed to recognize. SoundHound is the best. Thank you for your app. I love music and you always tell me what I’m listening to so I can find it to download. Keep up the great work, SoundHound, you guys are awesome!

Playlist stops. It's the best music app I've had so far, The only problem is that when I open another app my music stops and I keep having to the app for it to play. I would really appreciate it if the developer or developers of SoundHound looked into this issue and fixed it for me or got back to me and told me how to fix it please, Thank you!😊

Might need update. Been using SoundCloud for years and I love it. It’s recently been auto playing ads *with sound* , which of course negates any music it’s going to hear in the background. I don’t mind the video ads, I understand the need to make money. Buttttt...kill the auto sound playing, it can’t even hear the songs. Am still giving it five stars since I use it all the time and will assume they’ll fix this issue, am just trying to bring this to their attention.

Works with Apple Watch!. This is easily the best music-recognizing app out there, and now that it's been integrated with Apple Watch it's perfect! Fast to start and easy to use, and has a dedicated complication. This so much easier, safer and more discrete than holding my phone to a speaker. It took longer for this feature to be released than I would've liked, but it's solid and I'm happy about that.

newly added obnoxious commercials. Someone at SoundHound might want to smoke something different than whatever they started smoking lately. The main function of this app is to identify songs by sound. Nevertheless, y’all somehow have failed to notice ads that begin loudly just after someone taps the big orange button to begin an analysis to get a song title, etc? So now the app blocks itself from functioning while playing annoying sounds over the music I was just listening to and wanted to get further information on. Y’all gotta fix this by tomorrow or I’m deleting this app.

Oh what app. Hi I just want to say how much I enjoy this app. It’s so nice to be able to see the lyrics, I stopped listening to the words along time ago. I’d listen to the rhythms, Sing the chorus part ,but that’s all I would know, never knowing exactly what the was about. Can’t say I haven’t blushed a few times, after I realized what the lyrics were. This app brings me back to some great memories and really helps to keep me up with current music. thank you so much for this app

Perfect when all you know is a tune. I heard a song a bar that I used to really like but Shazam didn’t work at the time. I didn’t know the name of the song, Artist, or the lyrics. All I knew was the a tune from the chorus. The google microphone didn’t work either. I was finally able to find the song I was humming for 3 days with the help of this app on the first try!

What about different location for the button?. Hey guys I was using it today and wondered how it would be to have the bigger button even closer to the bottom so like I was today when you’re in a rush to find the song or tag it you can click it right when it opens right next to your thumb instead of having to reach to the top just an idea thanks for the app!

Sound. This app has been one of my favorites for many years, it’s Genius! when I hear music whether it be on the radio or watching television and hear music tracks in a movie or TV show it’s amazing that I can just be able to tap this app identify it by it save it to my devices it’s awesome. The creators of this are brilliant! There are so many amazing talented artists out there that can be discovered with this app.

Dance mama tool. When my dancer is taking a class, I like to figure out what the song is and this app will usually get it first before the other apps. (We dance moms have to entertain ourselves! Lol!) I love the lyrics section on this app. Again, when darling dancer is in class sometimes we are just liking the beat. I like to know what the singer is saying. I have had this app for 7 years! I like the link to buy the music too.

Best thing since sliced bread. I grew up in the era where deejays didn’t announce a tittle or artist. I would scour the lyrics magazines looking for songs based purely on lyrics. And stay awake late taping Casey Kasem on Saturday nights. Then I would spend hours figuring out the lyrics that were not in the lyric magazines yet. I have had and used SoundHound for at least 10 years and appreciate the app more than most would know. Thank you SoundHound!

7 years worth of excellent song recognition. My first IDd song on my history was in 2013. I love this App, and the fact it’s carried my history across at least a dozen devices. I’ve never paid for the infinity, but somehow have always had unlimited IDs and I didn’t even realize it. I’m not gladly paying for the premium service to support this company and what they’ve done, and for the service I’ve had for years and years with excellent results

Not as good as it used to be. I’ve used SoundHound for years and it’s been my best and favorite resource for finding music, even international! But as of late I’ve noticed it’s not only unable to find some songs even with clear sound, it’s not even saving songs it does find in my history and I have not been able to go back and listen to or download them. It hasn’t saved anything - discovery or pending - in almost a month! Disappointed to say the least. Guess I’ll have to try Shazam for a time.

More issues.. Forget what I complained about before, this app still has problems. Including a recent appearing one where when I go to open an artists page the app freezes for about a second and then crashes. It’s pisses me off because it could be your favorite artist and sometimes you have to be able to open up their page to add some of their songs you like. Please fix this it’s really annoying and I’m bout tired of it already, no offense.

Really good. App is easily five stars if they improved the quality over Bluetooth. I also do not like that the app defaults to not using Bluetooth because this means that any Bluetooth devices you have will be automatically disconnected when you open the app. The app also gets 4stars because it will get a song wrong around 5 to 10% of the time if you’re using it while on the road when there’s ambient driving noise. Unfortunately this is the only time I actually am using the app. To know what the song on the radio is.

Better than Shazam. Apple destroyed the Shazam app because you now need to be connected to WiFi to use it. SoundHound can be used everywhere, and not only that their interface is a lot smoother an faster. You can close the app and continue to listen to music unlike Shazam. You can also tap to stop listening at any moment, unlike Shazam which has stopped innovating. Five stars from me!

Opening time.. I love Sound Hound! But I would give 5 stars of the app or the live tile in the side menu would open or react faster cause I lose a lot of time waiting on it to open. Sometimes I even miss the opportunity to get new music cause I'm having to wait for the app to open! Faster openings or "instant on, or more Mic access!" Abilities!!! Where maybe the second you touch the listening button, it Instantly starts recording but after the app finally opens....... It will realize what it just recorded and act appropriately at THAT point? Just a suggestion......? Maybe?

Great App. This app is great, allow free music with lyrics , great interface, only some singers doesn’t appear,. I wish they update the app, and add more option for example choose quality of music to save data, the lyrics could have the option of translation in the same line , but for nowadays that we have to pay for anything and see a bunch of ads this app is great. Please don’t leave it behind

It works. I love this app, simply because it fulfills a frequent need of mine, to identify new music that I like. I’m hearing a song I like, I want to know what it is and how to get it, and all I have to do is activate Sound Hound. Within seconds I have that information, it’s stored within the app for future reference, and I can relax and peruse my results at leisure later on. It also has live lyrics, and being a lyric hound, I find this invaluable. Thanks!

Wonderful app. I absolutely love this incredible application. It has helped me out so much when out and about and I hear a song that I enjoy I just open up the app and click on the orange button and let it listen to the song and quickly it tells me the song title and the artist couldn’t ask for a more wonderful app that does identify songs quickly even if you’re not right next to where the song is coming from.

Another Has Been.... This used to be a great app — but no more. Now it takes me thru some random set of BS every time I try to ID a song. Half the time the song is over by the time I finally get back to the song search function. Also, it makes a lot more mistakes (some I think are intentional to sell other music) and often returns zero results, which was previously rare to non-existent. Another example of change for the sake of change killing the golden goose!

Better with time. This app gets better with time. Now that it has undergone several versions, it runs faster. Another neat and fun feature is being able to open a map and see and hear what others are discovering. Of course, when you’re looking for a song, that gets shared too. And, I don’t mind sharing the tunes I find when I go out there. Being able to she’s that with the world is the beauty of this app.

Muhammad’s SoundHound review. Sound hound finds 90% of the songs I seek to identify. But in new music genres it sometimes does not recognize, but this is a problem with all the music recognition services. This may not be an issue for most users. I am a musician, professional dancer and instructor, a DJ and an academic - so my needs are extensive. On the whole, as a sound hound user for many years, l recommend it. I do to all my students. The latest feature of tying it to playlist is wonderful. Thank You

I really like this app. So many times I have come across a song that I like and don’t know the name of. I always click on this app and it never fails to tell me the names of my favorite songs. Within about 20 seconds or so it gives me the name, the artist and the album name. I do wish the lyrics would pop up on all the songs. Most of the songs have lyrics that you can follow with, but there are some that don’t. Overall I love this app and will use it for songs to come.

Love SoundHound. I love music all kinds of music old new and in between. With SoundHound I am able to identify and have access to songs I used to have to wonder about for months, years or sometimes never finding out about. Some people don’t like change and the low ratings are not warranted. I can honestly say my experience and love for music has been greatly enhanced by having and using the SoundHound app. Thank you!

Doesn’t work the way I want it too. If you know some words to the song you can just use google and you will eventually find it you don’t really need a app for that. I want to able to exit the app and play the song that I want to find. For example TikTok, sometimes people play really good songs while you’re watching them do something and I can’t find the song in the comment section or when I click the sound, most of the times their in foreign language so it makes it even harder. It would be more useful to me if you could exit the app and play the video.

Kinda Fun. I love a lot of different kinds of music and sooooo many times I love a song and know nothing about it. I can’t find it unless it had a distinctive lyric. But this identifies so much faster and up come the lyrics and the album cover so it is fun. I’ve added so many songs because I finally can find my favorites from movies and tv. Even works in a store with a soundtrack playing. I just now realized how much I use it and love it.

Very handy app.... ...but whatever changes they made in recent version(s) have caused a very annoying phenomenon. It almost never identifies a song on the first try, and instead says that it hears no music. Tap retry, and it instantly identifies the tune. I’m no app programmer, to be sure, but clearly there is some issue that has been introduced with SoundHound’s first attempt at listening to a song that disappears immediately once you “retry.” This has been ongoing for months, and by now has definitely seemed to go past “temporary fluke” status.

Happy, Happy, Happy!. I guess one would think I was happy with Sound Hound! I've had a blast with this app over the years. Recently, I looked up a title and artist for my 90 year old ex-mother in law. To see the joy in her eyes as she was able to sing along, and and hear her comments made this app so worth it in my book. "I remember that song!" I've periodically had to look up lyrics, but I'm fine with that. I've always enjoyed Sound Hound and GLW, I'll continue in the future!

SoundHound review. My review is that SoundHound works incredibly well. When I think of all the years I’d hear a song and the DJ wouldn’t say who the artist was, now most of the time SoundHound answers that for me. But 25 percent of the time it can’t figure out what the song is or artist. How does SoundHound determine who the song or artist is? Anyways SoundHound have become indispensable for me. Being a musician myself I’m glad I can find out who it was I heard and even had a bio on the group, artist or writer! Thanks creators of sound hound!

Classic N8. I’ll give the hound some prompts, it’s pretty reliable, I’ve got some three thousand searches between 5 or more phones and maybe 10 songs that were wrong they turned out to be good finds. Super new stuff occasionally takes awhile to get figured out but it doesn’t take that long. Overall not bad. It’s needs work on live music presentations on both radio and at the show.

Too sound sensitive. It always names the song correctly, but on the road, if the road is bumpy, it can’t find the song, so when on the bus, this isn’t very optimal, maybe if the audio was filtered through when it recorded audio, then music could more easily be found, so if you could add something like that, I’d be happy, thank you for reading this review (If you even read it), and please make the app less sensitive to other audio.

Works great but WHY NOTIFICATIONS??. Why does this app give me random notifications? It does what it should do (most of the time, has a hard time with identifying music over ambient noise like at a coffee shop but whatever same) but why do I need a pop up notification with random lyrics from a song I have never looked up and don’t want to know? I get that I can opt out of notifications or turn them off but why would you design this app to be purposefully annoying? So unnecessary

My go-to ‘what’s that song playing?’ app :D. My dad had this app on one of the earliest iPhone generations (before I had my own phone) & I made sure I downloaded this when I got a phone in my hands. I love it. I wish it was able to detect more multicultural songs as well, but it’s also shown me so many that it just overrides that comment, because I knows it’s developing more & more. A very cool thing: it saves the songs you’ve had it listen & you can go to that at anytime✨

We need an update. I love SoundHound over Shazam but Needs an update. Always saves tech or remix versions of the song instead of the original that’s being played. And often have to try a few times before it gets the song. And if it could be a little quicker sometimes the songs goes off after I’ve tried 2 times. It also has a hard time if there are other noises in the background when I’m out. My friends have tested with me on their apps and SoundHound is normally last to guess the song. I don’t want to switch I love it we just need an update

Who would have thought.... This is an amazing app. If you love music, and have ever heard part of any music, and wished you knew what it is, this is definitely one app to get. I’ve used it in a car with radio on, or watching something on tv that sounds familiar, and even been in a grocery store and wondered what was the music playing overhead. Who would have ever thought something like this was possible. Just too amazing.

Best sound fetching app ever!!. Ever hear a song on the go or on the radio, and wonder who’s that jamming out!!! Well gurl! Don’t be stupid! Sound hound that song!!! Love the way it also maps out where it was used and what song that was. Honestly, I use it as my personal passport to mark my conquests around the world!!! Love the way it quickly and effortlessly it gives you the option to connect to your iTunes in so many ways! Just download it and check it out!

What used to be great is now uselesss.... Awful. Tried to identify ‘Red Right Hand’ by Iggy Pop & Jarvis Cocker. Took about ten tries and then when I try to play it, a little window opens with a picture of Iggy Pop, playing some instrumental elevator loop with a description of the actual song I want to hear but not the song itself. I don’t need a description, I’m quite capable of describing it myself thank you, I want to hear the song. Also- it’s not convenient to ‘talk’ out loud to an app unless you’re driving a car. When trying to improve the app, try leaving the elements that brought people to it in the first place alone. i.e.: Don’t try and fix what isn’t broken. Useless, what happened to this app?
