Textastic Code Editor Comments & Reviews 2026

Needs ‘files’ support. This looks like the app of my dreams for further replacing my computer while traveling. One request... instead of Yet Another App Asking For Dropbox Credentials, and yet another file browser, this needs to integrate with the Files app in iOS 11. Apple has solved this problem, and once everything I need supports it, I’ll be happier for the consistency.

Amazingly Powerful App. I’ve searched high and low for an app like this. For one reason or another, I’d talked myself out of purchasing this, instead choosing to use other apps (that were an absolute waste of money). But finally I decided to try my luck with this, and I can’t stop kicking myself for not choosing this one sooner. It works so well. It’s easy to use, setup. I was up and running in no time. Paired with the iPad magic keyboard, this feels like I’m typing on my old MacBook. Can’t thank the Textastic team enough for developing and maintaining this app!

Capable. Hands-down the most capable mobile code/text editor I’ve found. Full, flawless regex search/replace is my favorite feature, though I do wish it remembered recent searches; there are a few I’m constantly retyping. The process for editing files stored on Dropbox/GoogleDrive could be smoother, but it does make it very clear what you’re doing. (Once you’ve downloaded a file, any time you open the local copy you can hit Menu, then “upload” or “download latest“, and confirm overwrite.)

Delivers what is promises. I have used Textastic for years now. It provides a portable and uncluttered tool to edit Markdown and html. I have not been disappointed with it. The developer fixes bugs, maintains it, and provides updates.

Well Designed Application. This editor has improved tremendously since it has started. It continues to be well-supported, and follows iOS conventions very well. The user interface is well designed, mouse support is great, and windowing works perfectly. Autosave is also very convenient.

Solid iPad & iPhone dev app. I'm not going to list out the features, you can see that on the app product page. I especially enjoy the UI attention to detail, dark mode, icons and connections. I got SSH, GitHub repos, local iCloud files, external iCloud files etc. Simple integratation with apps like Working Copy. Powerful iPhone app with RegEx search and web Preview. All good things. If you need anything this app doesn't have – just use your laptop.

Literally does NOTHING without Pro. Nowhere in the description is there any mention of a purchase or subscription cost. I don’t object to these things, if an app works and does something I need I don’t mind paying. That said, I want to know what I’ll be paying, and if it does what I need. BEFORE paying. I think that’s only reasonable. I managed to import a file. Then it was all blurred out with a message to get Pro for viewing and editing. It’s a text editor. Viewing and editing are not optional additional features. They are the key features. What good is a text editor what won’t even let me view let alone edit a file? How can I make an informed decision if I have absolutely no information? This could be an amazing app. I’ll never know. Because I’m so dissatisfied with the circumstances I’ve mentioned.

Developer ignores customer emails regarding failure of app. The developer continues to not respond to emails asking about why the SSH feature ALWAYS fails on a keyboard-interactive session. Any typical SSH with a remote server requires the ability to have a keyboard interactive session, and so the primary reason I downloaded this app is basically unsupported. More specifically, using DUO authentication only works up to the point where you have to specify the authentication method, and then fails once you enter a response to the prompt in the Textastic terminal. Please fix the SSH issue we’re experiencing! We paid for a feature that doesn’t work! :(

Wonderful app, couldn’t work without it.. I’m iPad only and still build and maintain websites for myself and a few clients. While the workflow is different on iPad, I have been using this app for a long time and I love it. It is very powerful and does exactly what I need for website building/maintenance I do. I have put in a request for PHP rendering and hope this becomes available soon as that would make this app PERFECT! Thank you so much Alexander.

Solve my orgmode problem. Finally found an application that work with Google Drive and can view/edit orgmode files. Alexander is very responsive and solved my questions within 24 hours and followed up with more useful information. Totally recommended.

AWESOME Text Editor for iPad!. I used this app to first teach myself programming languages and now use it on the regular for independent projects. It’s great! I do hope that the developer will continue to add additional functions and improvements, but this 5-star review is well-deserved. Textastic is well worth the money. Please keep it up!

One of my favorite tools. In the past several decades I’ve used a wide variety of text editors on all sorts of platforms. Textastic is one of the best I’ve ever used. It works well on all of my devices; it gets used for everything from writing scripts and configuration files to taking down notes. I’m also visually-impaired, and the ability to customize the interface to make it easier to use is extremely helpful. VoiceOver support is fairly solid, and overall it’ easy to navigate the UI. The developers have done a good job and as a result Textastic is well worth the money.

For years people have been asking for spellcheck to be enabled.. I used to love Textastic, but it is getting stale and long in the tooth. It pales in comparison to editors that I use on other platforms. If you have ever used UltraEdit on Windows, you will know what I am talking about. Textastic has been around for far too long to not get similar features. Especially spell check.

Really great coding experience in iPados. i’ve been using this app for a few months now and have to say that the timely updates as well as all of the features make it really compelling. When iPadOs finally does build in features for developers, textastic will be the clear app for coding.

My favorite editor on the App Store!. I've used most of the top rated editors on the App Store and this is the one I keep coming back to! Love the ability to connect to my servers and Dropbox. Works great with Apple Keyboard and has some nice keyboard shortcuts. Please add the ability to edit multiple lines at once!

The Dream of a Subscription Text Editor. Coming from the days where one purchased applications, and purchased subsequent updates outright, always have I longed for a subscription text editor. One that I would purchase repeatedly, regardless of whether or not it had been upgraded, and regardless of whether or not those upgrades applied to me. Well, after many agonizing years, that dream is now a reality. If any application genre screamed out to be a subscription, it is the text editor, what with all of the streaming data they have to provide to the user on a monthly basis. Also, unlike the hordes of starving developers that came before them, these guys finally realized that they could produce a better product if only they could eat every day, while maintaining a roof over their head. This was clearly not possible under the previous scheme, where a product was paid for without further obligation by the customer a/k/a “The Dark Days of Reason”. Instead of laboring under these gulag-esque conditions, the developers of Textastic have finally corrected one of the most grievous injustices since World War Two: the ruthless exploitation of the mobile software developer by the greedy, irrational, demanding customers who constantly demand the the devs fix glaring bugs, while not paying one red scent extra for their fixing. Instead of paying more the buggier an app was, selfish consumers wanted to pay the same price for buggy apps that they paid for more stable apps. This is an abomination that Textastic had the integrity, nay, courage to rectify. In my humble opinion, they have created a dream that you too can live. Go ahead. Push that button in the upper-right corner. Only through your support, will this economic model survive, and relegate to the history books that most heinous of paradigms known as “ownership”. In the future, you will own nothing and be happy. You do not have to wait, though. The future is here today, if only you would click that button. Set yourself free. Do it now.

Since you asked for a Review.... I have prompts for reviews turned off. You ignored this an inteerupted me less than 20 minutes into working with filex on a project. I paid full price. Not Cheap. And you have the temerity to interrupt me for a stupid review. Allright... I bout this because I was told it was the best. There are cheaper alternatives.... but when I pay almost eighty bucks for an apple app... I expect that to buy me immunity for ads and surveys. It didnt. You did it anyway. So... you get a one-star review.... the same give anyone with begs for a review. Enjoy!!

Just a Great App!. I use it every day as my go to file editor. It never disappoints and is a pleasure to use. Sometimes I wish it had a built-in Python interpreter, though I realize that might detract from the app’s core mission.

Fantastic. This app is super useful as a general purpose text editor. Don’t ever forsake the value of a plain text editor until you find yourself needing one and not having it. This is worth every penny and is perfectly minimal and well implemented.

Wounderful! But it could be better. I’ve been using this amazing tool a long time ago, to write and edit HTML and CSS files. Love it because uses prediction to increase your productivity and the margin of errors decreases. One thing that I would love to have is a HEX color picker. Than would help immensely. Thank you!!! NOTE: Recently working with -WebKit trying to fixed a navigation menu, it won’t display correctly on the native web browser.

Not much use for web development. Evidently there is no access mode that allows Textastic to edit files residing on a server by remote. This is a fundamental and crippling limitation for anything resembling a modern website, which will make use of server-side includes, session management, and database access on every page. I’m less annoyed that I wasted $10 than that my purchase rewards both Apple and the developers of Textastic for upselling a program that would have an awkward workflow by 1999 standards as a sleek and effortless development tool today. The static web page era is long over.

Good Editor & Keyboard/Input. Clearly very polished, but seemingly so simple, solid, ‘just works,’ that it’s easy not to notice... I’ve never had a problem with the functionality, which is robust beyond my and most uses, but which never seems in the way. I also get used to the special input keys quickly. I’ve used the keyboard onscreen plenty; for me this is at least as natural as typing a document this way. Very nice editor.

I do all my web development in this app. Yes, I have a Macbook Pro with all the latest web dev tools. But I always have my iPad with me, and I end up doing all my development with Textastic. It has its own local file structure so you can build the server folder and file structure locally and develop with relative links. You can store all the resources (graphics, images, scripts, stylesheets, etc.) in their proper places so the entire site can be uploaded as it exists on the device. My typical workflow starts with Graphic for graphic and image resources, Pixelmator to edit images to size, and Textastic for html, css, and Javascript as needed. iCloud files are synced automatically so I can pick up on any device, and upload to the web host directly from the iCloud directories. This is one of the essential apps that make the iPad so incredibly useful.

Who knows?. You literally cannot even open, much less edit, a basic text file without signing up and paying for yet another subscription-based product. Who knows, maybe this glorified text editor is amazing but you can’t do squat unless you pay first so don’t waste your time downloading the app unless you already know you are going to buy it.

High Quality. This product is amazing. The only thing I would want to see added is native support for connecting to git repositories. This app really gets it right when it comes to editing. Other apps might have more IDE features but I love that the things Textastic does are of an extremely highly quality.

Mary Poppins of Text Editors. I just mean it’s practically perfect in every way. What’s more, it gets better with every version. The built-in SFTP makes this the perfect companion for web development and countless other tasks. The network storage (including Dropbox) options make it the perfect travel companion for developing pretty much anything. This has more features (and costs far less) than many popular desktop text editors. It’s one of the most useful apps on my iPad and has been for years. I can’t recommend it too highly.

Textastic will be improving, and I love that!. *update* I am so thrilled about a Test Flight version I received allowing me to set a default overwrite of files for upload/download, and what's better is you can set it for quick transfer or the file transfer windows! This is a HUGE *time saver* and makes me work flow so headache-free. The developer does care.. As you can see I was very upset before:: Previous review: I used to be able to fix the "Error uploading" of the "Transferred a partial file" by simply opening the files that failed to upload. Now, no matter what I try I simply cannot upload certain files or even their parent folder containing them no matter what I try. New “Upload To” feature is appealing, but … Developer absolutely refuses to save you time, forcing you to “confirm” EVERY time you want to upload multiple files. Yet, somehow “upload to” is the only option you’re allowed to disable the dialogue box with. This developer does not care about developing a true Textastic, a great app, but instead an app that only suits their low standards of "good enough". This has to be one of the most obnoxious app developers I have ever had to work with. Textastic has become completely unsable!

Great for the niche it fills. If I need syntax highlighting, this is my go-to app. For composition with reliable and extended undo/redo capability and customization, Drafts is my go-to app. For whatever quirks this app might have, it does not charge me for a subscription, honoring my pro purchase from years ago instead. It's there when I need it, which is only sometimes. I don't use the ftp and ssh parts of the app, so I can't comment on them. I do use iCloud as well as the standard share sheet.

I like it. It's a little bit confusing and I think there can be more done with the UI. I do like it though and especially on the iPad. I have yet to hook up a keyboard and I would bet that it really would shine. I am still trying to get it working with Working Copy and once I do I think both will make each other great and my stars will top out. It's mostly for the UI which like I said could be much better but then an app like this is really all about functionality. I think he would get way more downloads if it was pretty. Like most editors are these days.

Proper detailed updates. Keep up the good work. I appreciate that you do detailed change logs. Apple really should not approve change logs that are “various bug fixes and performance improvements”. Those big developers really need to try again!

6 stars if I could. The best text editor for your iPhone or iPad hands down. Plenty of features, plenty of customization, great UI, has been in development for years by a responsive developer. What more can you ask for? Pro is well worth every penny paid.

the best text edit on iPhone for sure!. No words, I use this program over years, it’s simply the best. Easy to access FTP with the phone, transfer files, edit files, just wipe out for example an error on your website immediately on the go. Because I use it over years, I can say the programer is an amazing guy!! He didn’t bring a program to the App Store for a fast money, he’s passionate about it and loves it, there is a regular improvement and development since years! I read the change log from 8.0, and again saw it will be better now than ever before :)))

Almost perfect. Wish it had one more common IDE feature.. I really do love this app, but it’s missing one feature that is close to being a deal breaker to me. I wish I could collapse sections between

s and other HTML markers. Sometimes in working in particularly long documents the lack fo that functionality can make using this app tedious.

Great privacy policy. The privacy policy is clearly worded and respects your information: “Textastic is designed to keep your information private. It does this by collecting as little information and using as few third party services as possible.”

💕 it. i love the app so much i signed up for the pro version — even though i was grandfathered in with my prev purchase. There are so many thoughtful touches in the app; i particularly like the option (available in the Apps=>Textastic section of the ios Settings app) to reset open files. This allows idiots to save "oneself" (ie,myself) from some truly egregious regex mishaps. the developer also added the option to disable the annoying "Writing Tools" option from the ios context menu...AWESOME. didn't know how much i needed that. (if the search/replace field remembered ~10 of the most recent inputs, i would die of happiness) The app continues to amaze me with what it can handle; it almost never crashes (even when i blithely ignore its warning re: large files), is super zippy and just a pleasure to use. Buy it, you won't regret it!!

Needs UNIVERSAL PURCHASE!!. This app is great and I want to make it my main text editor but why do I have to buy it twice to use on my MacBook? It’s not impossible to make apps universal anymore as Apple has officially created a way to do so between Mac and iOS. Dropped another star, It needs to be able to open folders from more places. Not just iCloud. I would like to open folders from places like OneDrive and I am unable to do so. If I have a Windows PC and upload files and folders to OneDrive to continue work on a different device, I am unable to do it with this app. The only solution would be to go to the OneDrive app on the iPad and transfer the files to iCloud to work with this app, however that presents many problems like two different sets of folders (one for iCloud and one for OneDrive). Please fix and also add universal purchase so I can download on a MacBook. These fixes would make it the perfect text editor for me definitely worthy of 5 stars in my opinion.

Great editor. Even greater Xcode alternative for playgrounds.. I remember using Textastic before this newer universal app came out, and I fell in love with how amazing the app was. I’ve been using the new version for a while now, and. I am extremely impressed with just how capable this little editor is. It even opens and edits Swift Playground Books, meaning that I can safely and happily cut Xcode out of the Swift Playground book equation. Overall impressed and can’t wait to see what’s in store!

The Big T application FANTASTIC. LOVE IT! I am an old mainframe guy, and most of my career I used Xedit. I want to say Kedit was For DOS or Command Line but no GUI. So basically PC based, maybe AIX or Red Hat. Just not sure. My point is Xedit and Kedit were soraly missed. GUI is OK but the dev. For Windows, AIX, or day Redhat stuck to what they knew. Sad. Your T-Rex editor name (I like that better than Textastic name. The other does not sing). I was using NOTES+++ for a while, rich with function, but not intuitive. It would take an investment on time to fully understand. Plus, I really never trusted it. Nothing is Free. How to the get $$. T-isfortext or T-Rex are better names. To the point. I LIKE IT! It’s simple, intuitive, lite-weight, offers numerous function. It’s the closest to a green screen than you can get. The other editor I have is TextEdit and it looks to be very nice. But there is a learning curve and I just cannot spare the time right now. I will sit down with it sooner or later. Wish list. If you could purchase Kedit, not sure it’s avail, and integrate if making it available again would be great. 2 points. (1) you have a really good product with T-Rex (Textastic) do whatever you can to keep quality HIGH. (2) Please Stay far away from subscription base charge back. Do not! Stay away! If you need funds to maintain or grow application, get with me and I’ll propose a model that will do just that.

I use this at Harvard. Absolutely worth far more than the ten bucks I paid for this thing. I can now work on my JavaScript and CSS homework assignments on my iPad. Of course my keyboard turns this into a mini-Mac for the most part. But this app makes it all possible. Also, a good app to pair this up with is “Inspect Browser,” since you will need to debug on iOS. I like Brackets for the Mac, but I may check the OS X version of this out since the iOS one is amazing.

Best support ever. Not only is the app is well-designed and full featured, but the support is first rate. I was having trouble getting a particular syntax package installed and working, and the developer kindly took the time to try it out himself, then sent over instructions on how to do the same.

Makes coding simple on the iPad. I spent a long time looking for a good SSH client and text editor for the iPad and was resigned to using sub-par products until I found Textastic. I use it mostly with an iPad Pro, external keyboard, and mouse and it's easier to do coding via SSH on my iPad now than my desktop. I love that I can write markdown, HTML, CSS, Python, or YAML and Textastic handles them all. Even when I don't have my keyboard with me, I am not left without essential keys (hello, esc anyone?) that can be hard to find on the built-in virtual keyboard. Plus function keys!!! OMG. I even use it to write files to Obsidian (markdown) when I'm working and don't want to switch apps. Textastic is super versatile and the developer keeps on making improvements, so it's just getting better. Plus, it's not a subscription and they don't track you or invade your privacy. This is the best text editor on the iPad BAR NONE.

My Macbook is gathering dust. I’m not a developer; I work in email marketing, so my use case is pretty simple and pretty much just consists of building out our content in raw HTML. This app is so simple and straightforward to use that I’ve actually begun doing 100% of my job from my iPad Pro. The times I’ve gone back to the text editor on Mac, I’ve kind of just wished I was using this app instead. Can’t speak to the more advanced features it has but if you just need a quick, simple text editor and are curious about living the iPad life, give it a shot!

As perfect as it gets on iOS. Thank you so much for this app! I just can’t say enough about how well executed Textastic is. There are so many wonderful features, and all integrated with so seamlessly. I love all the connectivity options, the innovative keyboard, the previews, and even the surprise terminal emulator. Just a steward tool! I couldn’t be happier. 👍

I was looking for a GREAT mobile IDE. While looking for a mobile IDE to perform simple web development I came across Textastic. This simple to use and customizable platform made it easy to access my work from other devices and share easily with co-workers and clients. Just what I was looking for.

YAY!. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but JESUS CHRIST is coding easier than I thought on mobile. I’ve been working on the huge project (literally every wakening second of my life) and being able to work on my phone is a godsend. I bought Textastic with the impression of “oh, god…”, but I instead got “yay!” Even transferring files between my Mac and my phone was easy. I thought I would have to lug a flash drive with me, but—nope—Textastic has WebDAV ‘n’ stuff built in. The only negative thing I can come up with is that there isn’t syntax error detection, but considering I did a lot of my coding in TextEdit, I’m used to that already. Thank you!

Never underestimate how important a plain text file can be. When using an iPad Pro as a laptop this app comes in handy. Great for coding with its integration with other Git applications and even for saving plain text files to share between devices. The ability to connect to and edit files over SSH is something you won’t find in a typical text editor. Great for developers and everyday users alike. Been using it on all my iOS and iPadOS devices for years now.

A great application.. Something as simple as editing a text file on iOS is impossible unless you have an app like this. That is not a good thing. I just want a simple text editor like Notepad or TextEdit for iOS. Most apps that work with "text" only work if the file actually has a ".txt" extension. I have tons of PLAIN-TEXT files with extensions like .conf or .ovpn or .sh that nothing wants to open. Textastic opens everything just fine.

Great app!. Works great! The only thing missing is multi-cursor support. I often use this app when prototyping and mapping out new ideas before i bring them into my VSCode projects. I do recommend using a different browser than the default. The console isn’t very useful for working with large objects. The Inspector browser or something similar works much better. Thanks for making this app!

Tons of features. Really great app. I’ve been using it for web development and every time I google something like “how to open the JavaScript dev console on iPad” I find out that it would have been difficult to do, except for the fact that it’s already included in Textastic. Basically a one stop shop for web dev.

Great app ! Love it. I found Textastic for IOS is great i’ve Never seen for coding . But still missing some great features. The first I one I would like to see in next update is ONE CLICK UPLOAD. When we edit file in FTP or.... We knew we gonna upload much often so we don't have to click on Share icon and click upload file, that's so annoying! It will be good if quick upload button outside that option. It will be great if we can edit in remote server and save instead of download and edit on local and trip load again. Thank you very much . Anyway great job . :)

Bit awkward at first. Great keyboard. Keeps asking me to rate it, even though I wrote this review ages ago. Now I rewrite review. Don’t use Copy-paste it breaks. Don’t trust file locations, it mucks them up. and Please developers, don’t keep interrupting my work repeatedly asking for a rating when I’ve already rated, or you get 1/5

Fantastic Coding App!. I love this app so much! It has helped me to go from a total beginner in web development to be able to build full stack web apps with python and flask. I am very excited to see new features added. I love that I can now open two instances of Textastic side by side and work on them both!

A+ editor. A professional text/source editor for iOS. Highly mature code base with a large number of features.

Excellent app. Best code editor on iPad Pro.

Matlab support. Works great with Matlab, and a whole bunch of more mainstream languages.

Ty. Dropbox API broke in the previous version so forced to “upgrade” to this version which has no improvements if you don’t have an iPad Pro.

The essential text editor for iOS. This is probably the best plain text editor you can get for iOS. If you are a Macintosh user then Textastic is the BBEdit for iOS 😁🥺😬. This app will take some time to master but it will be worth it. Most of my writing is done with Markdown documents. I use an app called Taio because it’s a specialised Markdown editor. But there are many occasions where I need the additional power/features of Textastic. Highly recommended, Peter

The best iPad app. The best iPad app for development environment! Connect to Working copy Connect to sever via SSH key I enjoy it very much ^^

Textastic is Fantastic. This app opens up the possibilities for all sorts of file editing and management of remote servers in a way that makes it easy. From this app I have been able to access my remote servers, transfer files to and from them and create and edit files while remaining in the app. I have used this app for years and love it. Highly recommended.

No C# code completion. No trial version of the app, and once I bought it, realised there is no .net/c# code completion. It's not mentioned in the description, but it supports C, I guess i assumed too much

Really nice text editor. I use Textastic to edit Clojure code, and it’s fine for that. The on-screen keyboard shortcuts are a great time saver. Most importantly, the developer provides great support and has been very responsive to my questions.

Very Good Indeed. Actually, it’s really the MacOS version that requires a little improving to bring it into line with the apps. Although, it could very much do with RTF support.

Amazing product. I have never used such an easy tool on the iPad. I have never been able to edit my website on the fly with the ease I can with this app. Thank you

Transformed my coding experience on the iPad. Textastic coupled with Working Copy makes dev work not only possible on the iPad but also extremely productive and enjoyable. I'm seriously considering buying the full size iPad Pro to do my dev work now (and wanted a reason to justify buying one :-) ). Highly recommended! Poor user experience. Poor user experience. Unintuitive. No text editor or viewer on sftp. Have to use Nano. No settings for shell window ie background. The only positive is multiple shell windows can be open. Will be looking at the other positive reviews closely.

Excellent in every area. Excellent editor with solid connectivity and "open from" support, code completion, etc and a very nice, clean interface with the ability to use custom syntax highlighting schemes. Highly recommended!

Great App. The app is vey good for writing code. Created a site on the iCloud drive using the iPhone version. Textastic folder shows up on iCloud drive on the iPhone but the folder is not visible when viewing the iCloud Drive from Finder on an iMac or iCloud website. Not sure if this is a bug yet to be corrected or whether I need to have the desktop version of the app installed to make the Textastic folder visible from Finder on iMac or Macbook. I like the WebDAV feature. A real life-saver. Can transfer files out so I can split up my project and continue working with Brackets on Linux. I like the features and the portability of the app.

Please add support for a native iOS keyboard + code minimap. Man where to start... there are sooooo many things I love about Textastic I don't know where to begin... Just try it, you won't regret it 👍🏻 @Developer(s) please make my dream come true to have the ability to use your wonderful keyboard extension outside of app as a native iOS keyboard as I'm completely in love with its functionality as a power user. UPDATE: I would also love to see Code Minimap Support with syntax highlighting being a bonus (especially for the iPad).

Love this app a lot, feedback:. Love this app a lot, don't know if it is much to ask, Would be great for an option to expand and contract items of code? Like in the PC app Brackets. It would make it easier on smaller screens.

Reliable text editing with many markup languages. Great tool

FEEL LIKE A REAL CODE EDITOR!!. To code on the go, this app just perfect! I use to code in JAVA and ok it doesn't have all the automated function as something like IntelliJ could have ooooff course but still I'm able to code just as fast as I used to! Again, great app!

Reliable. Been using Textastic for years, always has been my go to editor for quick edits on the go, never failed me, and it hasn’t become bloated like a lot of other editors. Really great quality application!

Better Support for Swift?. Currently syntax highlighting is not working correctly in swift source file, especially in some structures like protocol. Symbols cannot be extracted from source either.

Good AF. This is gonna help me pass. Gg bro.

Matching open/close brackets. Matching open/close brackets still missing. 🙁

Delivered on expectations. They are only few Great Apps on the apple App Store that truly deliverer on the quality & capability of what is expected from a premium App Store app, This App is one of them. My hats off to the developers. Please continue to live up t the high standard i hold you at

The 'go to' app for serious programming.. Textastic is the best portable text editor there is. It matches the features of brand name editors and keeps developing new ones. This is a complete working station to review/ create/ modify and update any project on the go! "Not even the toilet will be able to stop you!"

Top-notch!. This is my go-to coding app on the iPad. Intuitive, full-featured, customizeable, support for all popular programming languages, and easy server connectivity. The additional bar above the keyboard is an ingenious time saver. The developer's timely customer service is also five-star and puts this app in a league of its own. Highly recommended.

Excellent. By far the best text editor and development tool on iOS. This is a truly professional tool that has improved at a steady pace over the years. It really should cost more than it does — we need to support these kinds of apps because iOS (especially iPadOS) desperately needs them.

No Google Drive Support = No Good Review. I am unable to use this without Gdrive support. PLZ

Bob The Web Page Builder. I’m a web developer and I love this app. Very easy to use and being able to code on my phone and continue coding on my laptop by iCloud sharing is awesome. Thank you for a wonderful app

So far okey. Not that impressed, may be because I’m coming from phpstorm but there is no highlighting for object methods like $obj->method(); I setup a google drive folder but to get it to upload there is pretty confusing, I see local files and iCloud only, where is the drive that I just setup? Haven’t used any other IDEs for smartphones so maybe this is the best there is so I’ll leave 4 stars but really not blown away so far Little buttons with shortcuts should have -> as a choice and the little window that pops up should be much bigger

Genius.. Great programming editor.

Obsevation. The application works great!!!!

Wow!!! Fantastic!!!. I’ve tried several other apps to edit plain text files (.txt) and this one is the best. It’s fast, reliable and easy to use. My biggest .txt file has more than 30,000 lines and I can read, edit, search strings and all operations are really fast. The search feature is really nice, type any string and the app shows you all occurrences in a snap. You can jump into your text easily. The app also support .zip files which is pretty nice. Congratulations and keep up the good work!

Fantastic. This is a great text editor for when I'm using my iPad to code on remote servers. It works flawlessly (at least I haven't found any flaws) and the sftp support is well implemented.

SSH connection issues. May or may not be a good editor, but I couldn’t connect to a remote server using an SSH keypair after ten minutes of struggling. This should take 5, maybe 10 seconds.

Invaluable. This is the best thing since soft toilet paper! I use VSCode at the office and home, but this is a life saver when I am on the road. I can open source code directly on my iCloud and upload the changes to the server. And the code editor works great. Thanks!

Exemplary app .... It’s hard to believe this editor is running under IOS. Very capable and robust. Hope it’s around for a very long time as I’m growing dependent. *Kudos*. PS: Please don’t wreck this great app by switching to a subscription model like some other (previously) great apps have and have since been abandoned.

Terrific app. This is a really great little editor. Tons of features, including ssh terminal and web browser. Works well with onscreen and physical keyboards. Wish it had ability to search across all files, plus the ability to issue one command that would find all changed files and present a list of which to upload (then maybe a command to execute in a remote terminal... then it would be a breeze to do remote builds). Oh, and maybe the ability to have it check for remote changes to files?

UI feedback. Dont put the comma tab in the UI when using the app. It’s clutter and not intuitive. Fix this next update please

Great Text Editor!. I love using this editor! I can create custom themes, view HTML files as they would appear in a web browser, and importing files from web servers is dead easy! I just wish that there was a way to easily import from GitHub. Other than that, this is a great app for mobile software development.

Frequent crashes and session closes. App frequently crashes and ssh shell no longer persists in background as was the case in previous versions. It was great before the last few updates.

poor ux on iphone, unresponsive developer. the ux on iphone has useless bars blocking valuable screen real estate. I messaged the dev my thoughts. no response. devent enough app. i use it for reading source code. it could be a lot better if bars hide the way we expect in modern apps.

This app is awesome. I just found it. I use my ipad pro 12.9 a lot and really was looking to edit my latex and matlab files. If you support all features of these two, it will be great. Thanks :)

Textastic has now solved a longstanding ios barrier. The sweet "sharing" feature of Textastic now permits me to ignore Apple Notes altogether, receiving html from my favourite writing app THEN Preview or quickLook & copy-paste to Scrivenor which can be made to emit the rendered texts completely off-the-iPad & so onto MacOS. The iPad does its tasks & then it is left behind. For me, money well spent, thanks-all

Best text editor for iPad. Easy to set up and get working. Love the flexibility of the code editor and the UI theme availability. However the best part is the remote development integration, in my case over SSH/SFTP. It is easy to connect to a remote server via SSH and access all the files for your workspace. The ability to upload/download files is relatively easy - once you tell the app which files you want from the remote server, you can upload your changes to the remote server with a keyboard shortcut. However, one area of improvement may be to automatically upload the files when they're saved - this is the behaviour of VS Code's Remote Explorer tool. I understand this might not be desired for everyone, so perhaps this could be an opt-in feature if it were to be implemented. One other thing I miss from my desktop code editor - some more advanced code editing shortcuts. I'm used to sublime shortcuts like "Move Line Up" as Ctrl + Shift + Up, or "Select Word" with Ctrl + D, or "Duplicate Line" with Ctrl + Shift + D. If this app had these, it could really compete as a daily driver of coding productivity. Overall though, I love it and it outmatches anything else available!

Fantastic app for Web Development. Not only is the FTP great but as you save files they auto-upload to ftp so you can dev wherever and never worry about saving. On top of this the code editing has convenient shortcuts to compensate for the lack of a mouse on iPad, great syntax highlighting and customizable themes make it feel like any desktop IDE. I have wanted an IDE on iPad for a long time and never thought I would have one that felt like desktop. I could not recommend this app enough, it makes me so happy to have found it. As a final note it also supports local servers for preview, essential for testing. I ran an angularJs SPA on it without a hitch!

My daily editor.. I’m a hardcore Python and web developer and this is by far the best (lightest-weight, fastest, simplest) editor I’ve found for iOS. Doubly so when combined with apps capable of file sharing, such as Working Copy, a git client and another vital tool in my arsenal. (I consider built-in SFTP to be an “anti-feature” encouraging bad practices such as editing production sites “live” and without traceability.)

Still the best. Powerful, easy, a pleasure to use.

amazingly good at what it does. the pseudo-keyboard is a little marvel. now, you wouldn't want to write a full-blown program on it, but, esp on an iPad, it's an alternative to printing out something just to review it quietly somewhere. and this way you can even fix things. a little git wizardry over the webdav mount helps. It’s really quite amazing that it manages to be so complete. Have used it for years, it’s never been buggy either. 👍

Learning to code. Very nice. Learning to Code on my iPad was intimidating but Textastic is making the experience smooth and im already building websites and maybe castles to :)

Great editor but lacks support for modern JavaScript syntax. Textastic is a very good code editor. It integrates with Working Copy for git support making the duo a solid dev option for iOS. The only problem is syntax highlighting for JavaScript doesn’t support modern ECMAScript syntax. If your code has template literals containing single quotes, it thinks the rest of your file is one big unterminated string. Once that’s fixed, it deserves a 5 star rating.

Great code editor. This is a very capable text and code editor for iOS. I have used it since 2012 and it continues to improve.

Merci

Finally a decent one. I went though at least a dozen apps trying to find a decent code editor that didn’t crash with larger files and whose search actually functioned in a way that makes sense. Pretty stoked about that, I ditched all the others. The developer did a great job. Would be nice if it has support for "open in" though from the share menu. Not a big deal, just have to open the app first and browse from it instead.

Textastic. Unexpectedly powerful agile program for mobile users!

Fantastic!. My go to app for editing all type of files. Thank you and keep up the awesome work! 😁👍

Amazing!. This app is a lifesaver! I don’t own a laptop but sometimes I want to study coding on the go. This app made it possible with my iPad or my iPhone!

Shell has display bugs. The terminal does not glyphs correctly even on nerd fonts. The spaces/tabs are not displayed correctly as well in the terminal. It would be nice to have the option to hide the top bar to get a cleaner experience while using terminal based IDEs.

Great editor. Sublime/text mate for iOS. Incredible. Well thought out. Use it daily for my job. Thanks!

Used it for years, keeps getting better. I've watched this app grow and I'm a loyal user. This is a great value and it's been rock solid for me.

Can you explain. Hi, the application is super, and it’s my favorite app, but after updating to ios13 I can’t select the workingcopy folder in files only docs and there is no folder ( bug on iPhone X max)

I’m using wrong but. Love the app. Maybe I’m just a dummy but I have a hard time intuitively finding the ssh. App’s outstanding though 👍👍👏

Please make a Java compiler!. I love this app for java coding, but its difficult to check my work because of the lack of a java compiler. Yes it would be a lot of work, but the addition would make this a 10/10 app!

Missing requested feature for years. The fact that it cannot help me (and others according to the reviews) identify opening {[(and closing)]} matching brackets makes it almost unusable for my work.

Wow. This app definitely beat my expectations. I once thought there would be no way in heck that anyone could ever program from a phone. I was wrong, because of this app.

Unusually bad with iCloud Drive. When editing files, it constantly and randomly scrolls to the top, garbling characters and deleting some progress. I am unsure why - maybe iCloud sync is reloading the document and it only remembers some keystrokes? But really disappointing, was hoping this would be a mobile solution.

I genuinely GENUINELY hate this app.. I’ve tried installing texture packs into the Delta emulator, but because the premium subscription exists, I can’t even use this app ANYMORE! I don’t even think there’s a free trial in this app! my mom doesn’t even want me subscribing to this, what’s the point of adding a paywall! Fix your app!

Textastic is my primary development tool. I’ve been relying on Textastic to build web apps for years

Great App for use with Raspberry Pi. I use this app to program Raspberry Pis for automatic testing. It is a great app on both iPhones and iPads. The built in sftp and ssh support is extremely helpful. I use both on a daily basis. Keep up the great work!

Fantastic but.... It is a 9.5/10 app. Absolutely awesome and super useful. Just one thing that bugs me. I, like a lot of other people, really like the Atom One Dark theme. If it were possible to maybe throw that in here, it would get, if I could, a 6/5 rating ;)

Great active development!. I just bought this app earlier this week, and I’m so glad to see that it received an update for the new iPads already. Also highly appreciate support for syntax highlighting packages.

Excellent mobile editor. This is an outstanding editor that makes coding on the mobile platforms fun. Without this editor is is just a pain. Thank You! Please don’t stop what your doing. Love it.

Very close to what is needed. Great editor. Actually an editor you can use to edit files on iPad. An ability to upload all changed files at once not one by one would make it much more useful though.

Great App for those that want to creat HTML documents or a dozen other formats.. Still true. You can't beat it. Provides everything you need. Absolutely the best kind of software.

Textastic: power and strengtth. Amazing editor with incredible power and strength. Had it for years ( no yearly fee) and am still discovering new features!

Great app for couch coding :). Textastic is my go to app when I need to do some quick coding, but don’t want to hassle with setting up my MacBook Pro. If only it could compile my Sass locally I’d be in heaven :)

Would be great to support ssh forwarding.. Nice editor. Would be great to have extra support for ssh forwarding. Overall great product.

Brilliant. Adding ssh console support is a fantastic feature! Together with the other remote editing tools, this is a must have!

Excellent app. I particularly like the way it handles external files on iCloud, something other editors can find very awkward, for whatever reason. Very solid and user-friendly.

Need some update. It would be more better if we have built in terminal and feature of changing file or folder permission on app.

Not a real Web Server in the Editor.. I requested a refund. When you say your app has a web server… I’m expecting a server-side handler for things like PHP. An HTML viewer is not exactly a “web server” but because you wrap it behind a port. It’s still and html viewer.

Uploading Files as Gibberish. While viewing and editing files in Textastic, everting looks great. But when uploading the file, Textastic sends it as a bunch of symbols. My website has been down for two. I couldn’t figure out why - until I found out that the edits I was making using this terrible ruined my files. Highly recommend you look elsewhere for a text editing app.

One of my favorite apps. Textastic is one of favorite apps on iOS and integrates nicely with Working Copy. Well worth a purchase.

My favorite. Textastic has been my favorite Tex editor for years. Has all the features.

Amazing App!. If you have any questions the website is very detailed!!!

Spectacular text editor. Works great with Working Copy and new features in version 7 are great additions.

Another bad developer. I’ve bought this app many years ago, now as per new version notes all new features released in the future won’t be available to me. Really?! Thanks, but I better find another non-subscription app!

I Can’t Believe It. I wasn’t even prompted to rate this app - I just had to get on to do so immediately cause it’s the best app I’ve ever used in my life. Everything is so streamlined, detailed, functional and intuitive. Thank you for making this. It makes a big difference and has just about anything you’d need for front end & back end work if you’re a web developer. This is the first time I’ve rated an app without being first prompted. Thank you again.

Best app for coding on the go. I’ve tried several other editors for iOS and Textastic has stayed the best solution for iOS

Thoroughly Impressive. Feature rich with attractive UI. Perfect for embedded environments. You will not be disappointed

Like it!. Needs full screen view without keyboard (I’m using app on iPhone) and ability to drag folders to app using iTunes.

Could have been better. Samba connection works, terminal works fine too. But few improvements really requires - 1) persistent smb connection, 2) mosh client in addition to ssh terminal. 3) a built in terminal for accessing ipad file system.

Does not work with server using two-factor authentication. The app does not work when establishing a ssh connection with a server using two-factor authentication (Duo-push). It seems like this is an old complain based on what I saw on the internet and I could not find a solution around it. Requested a refund since the lack of this capability make the app not useful for me.

Amazing app. Worth the money. Have been using it for years on my phone and iPad.

Still working.. Had it for years now. Still works

Limited. Great app, but very limited when it comes to integration with certain external services via Files (Box, DropBox, OneDrive, etc). Have switched to Runestone which has no such issues.

Crucial part of a dev’s kit. If you ever do dev work away from your desk, this app and Working Copy make a power team.

Amazing Editor for the iPad. I have been able to do on the go web development with Textastic and it's built-in ssh terminal. This new update adds a ton of nice-to-have features that push this app from great to fantastic!

Well Done. There are a couple of apps I lean on heavily and this is one. Another great update has just been released, so I look forward to continuing using this app as one of my go-to text editors.

Super Useful App!. This app does what it says it does. No complaints here. And it’s only around 20mb. Feature request: Lightweight interpreter for Python.

Dropbox integration could be improved. It is year 2018, and I still need to push several buttons to download/upload files from/to the Dropbox. Auto sync is appreciated.

Project based ftp and ssh. Everything is great but ftp and ssh is not project based like phpstorm and may cause wrong uploads. Also ftp upload does not have base directory and user must choose destination for each file!

No git integration :(. This app is basically useless to me without a git integration. I’m not going to purchase a subscription to something like Working Copy just to pull and push to git repositories. Bummed to have wasted the 9.99 honestly.

The Best. As Textastic has continued to evolve, I find I do more and more of my web development on my iPad. In tandem with Working Copy, it is now an indispensable tool. Fantastic job!

Poor compatibility. Can’t work on scripts that I’ve worked on my laptop. When I try to open external scripts, won’t allow me to open. Needs to be improved in order for my payment’s worth.
