mmmmmm buttery & beautiful. What a great and simple app! You may think you can't draw… but ASKetch will change your mind and give you the creative boost to jet-power your new-found abilities. Found it on a Friday and could not put it down over the entire weekend. Suddenly I had over 50 drawings, majority are legitimately artistic (everything else=learning curve) and astounding to me… mostly cartoon portraits that must have been stored in my brain… all different and surprising to see as they blossom from the brush/fingerstrokes. Then I watched the demo video and realized I could customize the brush sizes and eraser opacity, so that introduced even more style and finesse to the process. Have also tried it on my iPhone, and obviously the drawings are a bit rougher due to finger/screen size ratio, but no less satisfying and surprising. I have used other Harmonious Mr. Doob-type drawing apps, but never with these fantastic results. Must give credit where credit is due: the app's brushes and buttery ease make my finger drawings cleverer than I could imagine. I just keep murmuring… "am I this talented?") I have showed my drawings to friends who all say " I didn't know you could draw" to which I must reply, "I didn't know I could either". It's as if the power was always there, and ASKetch pulled it out of my fingertips onto the iPad. So do not hesitate to plop down your 99 cents for the thrill of finding out what's waiting in your own fingertips…

Love the update!. I'm a relatively new user of ASKetch and tend to prefer older versions of software in general so I was a little hesitant to update but I'm so glad I did. The addition of color gives it a whole new dimension that's fantastic! The new pencil was easy enough to adjust to using as well. I highly recommend this app to anyone looking for an easy to drawing app with quality features. Thank you for the release!

Fun app. Good stuff all around.

This is ok. I like this app a lot but pls tell me how to make the brush thicker. I NEED IT TO MAKE SPOTFUR! Anyways, if you don’t have it, pls add it. I am trying to make cats and I’m like “I could draw better in paper”. Not to be offensive, I’m not trying to be rude (unlike SOME people). Welp, if you could fix some of that I would be very grateful. I am Pearshine everybody! According to a quiz I am Jayfeather! My fav character!

FEE. Hi there. App is good. It lacks of more features. One that would be important would be”settings”. Another thing is... I downloaded app. Used it. And now I see a charge of 2.99 plus tax. Why is this may I ask? It never stated an “app in” purchase notification when downloaded. And was this a one time fee or monthly?

The best drawing app. Love it!. I keep buying and trying other drawing apps but none get close to the quality of this one. I can actually create art on this app. Art that I can use. Art that I feel I can share with others. Other apps LOOK like they were created on an iPad and seem only good for sketching ideas. What can be produced using this app is smooth and beautiful and looks like it was created on paper media. You can almost smell the graphite. I can create a final product with this alone. If I had to have only one app for my iPad, I would choose this one.

ASketch ✏️📒. I LOVE THIS APP! I recommend it! It is so easy to use! And I lov3 how it shows how to use it instead of just opening the app and being like “How do I use this??” Its a really good app! It helped my art skills SO SO MUCH!! If you want to download it, Do it! This is my opinion about this app and I think it’s AWESOME!

New review. I couldn’t alter my previous review but I want to state that I love this app. You can open it quickly to get your idea down and I like the quality of the brushstroke. The only reason that I didn’t give it 5 stars is because it’s taken so long to get a reply to my question. A stupid question, yes, but some of us just can’t slow down to figure technology out😆

Fantastic but needs improvement. This is a great app for drawing. It's simple and really unique. I have little artistic ability but I still am able to have a lot of fun. It would be a lot more helpful if instructions were included, although its not really needed. More importantly, the image quality needs to be better. I hope future updates will included several canvas sizes and higher resolution exports.

Thought it was missing a feature, but it only got better…. I thought, “What happened to the other draw tool?” Then the helpful pop up hint taught me that you just use it with your thumb… I was concerned that it was “different” but I think I’m going to like it.

Read this. Well i saw the negative reviews and I thought i would try it and go for a gamble and Im glad i did. I think people get ahead of themselves instead of taking a moment and actually reading the instructions. Upon opening the app and trying it out i also was unable to zoom...at least i thought i couldnt. BUT THEN something amazing happened. I read the instructions. In order to zoom all you have to do is tap the screen with two fingers. When the menu appears you can use those same two fingers to zoom in and out. Normally the two finger pinch gesture is preset to change the brush size i believe this is the confusion. Thought i would help and try to clear that up for some people before they give up on a, from my humble 5 minute opinion, decent app.

One of the best for sketching....but. ...it ultimately lacks the basic functionality and options that I need to build on my sketches here. I love this app and want to use it a lot more, but the lack of certain basic features often makes me put it down, so I'm writing this review in hopes that the developers read it, respond to it, and consider adding some of the basic features that could make this app an everyday thing for me. My top three would be layers, ability to export as a PNG, or really any other alpha format readable by Photoshop, and ability to set document sizes so I can ensure what size/DPI I'm working at. If these features were in place- I'd easily give this the full five stars. Does anybody know if these pretty basic features are in the works? I'd even pay more for a pro version if they were.

Hidden tools = frustrating. The tools are hidden and you have to remember a bunch of gestures to get to them. Full screen drawing is nice and all, but it would have been better to have the option to keep things on screen.

Review. Andy Your app is amazing. Been using this for years. I tell my artist friends about this app !

Almost perfect. This app does a great job simulating charcoal. I have purchased almost every art application app there is. This one definitely gives the feeling I was looking for. It is also amazingly easy to control. I just wish the eraser was a bit more like a real eraser. Real erasers smudge the charcoal around a bit before picking it up. Also, in real life it's almost impossible to get back to the bright white of the paper once charcoal has touched it. This allows for beautiful effects and transitions that I can't quite get in this app. I would also love to see different weights and textures of paper in a future update. Maybe even toned paper. It would also be fantastic if you added white charcoal. Wonderful effects can be achieved with white and black charcoal and an eraser. All in all, this is one of my favorite drawing apps. I love the elegant simplicity.

One of my classic favorites. I am glad to see that work is still being done on this app. I have always loved it. I am sad to report that it seems a little flaky at the moment on my new M1 iPad Pro. I finally have a nice machine and an Apple Pencil and this app was one of the first things I tried. I will try reinstalling it and hopefully that will help. 😀

Super the best. It is the best. I wish i could use the ipad storage or to use the icloud storage so I could keep a copy. Please?

Not good. Glitches a lot!!! Annoying :/ only so many things, can’t color good either. Don’t suggest!!!! But, satisfying to heroes who like sketching.

Difficult to use. Simplicity doesn’t always mean less sometimes it just means the ability to organize. Is a slider really less complicated than 3-5 size option buttons. How is swiping a little undo button supposed to be easy? Y so many gestures click tapping to get to one tool

Simple yet sophisticated. At first, I didn't give this app much thought because it was simple. However, a friend recommended it to me and showed me examples of her drawings using this app (she is a professional artist). I was blown away by the range that this simple app can do so I went ahead and bought it. Great for drawing/sketching anything--from a simple doodle to complex landscapes/still life compositions. It gives the picture that "charcoal" look. I love the updated version because of the ability to draw a thicker and darker line and for the pinch gesture to actually increase/decrease pencil size as well as the eraser size. This app definitely deserves more attention!

Desserves a good reputation. Double tap with TWO fingers to zoom is correct, and not an inconvenience. I love that the two finger pinch gesture changes brush size and density. As an artist this is more useful to me personally than the zoom, but to each their own. Take a chance, its a great art app especially for getting a concept down professionally and quickly. Also if you hold down it offers copy as well the pleasantly surprising export, which quickly exports the top layer to the photo roll. Previous commenter encouraged my choice of taking chance, I thank them.

Extremely simple app. Very simple and easy to use app. There’s no frills and that also makes it less distracting but maybe it could use some other feature like importing pics or a way to control the brush thickness. Also I’m not sure is the second icon an eraser or a brush?

Amazing!. I love it! It’d be cool to have layers and maybe a solid brush but eh. The simplicity works.

Surreal art experience for all ages & levels!. I loved the buttery smooth elegance before I even knew how to to more than change from the pencil to eraser. Deceptively simple interface. Read the instructions at the App Store!! Then you go from loving it, just playing and gorgeous simplicity to a Ferrari of performance control. In no other app have I produced more pieces that sell as prints, nor any with more raw joy of use. The internal contradiction of its simplicity and depth: the koan of Art App's. Zen sketching. Transcend your previous art experience.

Failure to Close. The Apple Pencil functionality is excellent. However, the app fails to close with the standard swipe. If I only used one app it would be okay, but the beauty of iOS is consistency of basic functions. It’s frustrating when basic controls are hidden and unresponsive.

A few glitches but not bad. I like this for sketching, though it can be a little challenging to adapt to the auto shading. I noticed while working on a sketch some square and circular glitches began to pop up as solid white spots. This should be looked into. I think a little icon for quick gesture references would be helpful, some are a tricky to discover. There's most likely a website for help, but in app help is still what most would prefer. However I like the simplicity a lot.

A very good app.. This app is exactly what it is, a sketching app, plain and simple. Like when you want to doodle, or draw something like a human figure, a horse, anything! The colors are great but when like you want to draw or sketch with a pencil this works for me as the drawing tool reminds me of what a pencil would put out on paper. A very good app to begin your ideas and also if you want to create some sketches.

Amazing for sketching. Continues to be the best app for sketching and now it is so much more, if you want it to be. The marks are very similar to using charcoal without the mess. I have used this app for years and have tried many many others including the ones promoted by Apple. None get close to matching this one for sketching. With a limited set of tools you get excellent results and do not get bogged down in all the unnecessary options in more complicated apps. I hope the dev keeps this app working for many more years It is simply exquisite.

Wonnnnnnnderful. I have brushes and sketchbook pro, but this is by far my favorite. The lines are lovely and i love how "sketchy" they look. You can zoom way, way in to draw little tiny details, as well. There is a soft, dark pencil, and a hard, light one. This is a greatnapp for this who are not really confident with drawing, as you can sketch very lightly and then darker over the light lines. My boyfriend, who is not much of an artist or very confident when it comes to drawing, drew two beautiful pictures last night. It's also fun to take turns drawing, one at a time, and see what you come up with. Worth every penny!

Simple problems have simple solutions!. I like that I think it's awesome however it's so difficult to undo action. If I undo too far I completely erase my sketch. This has got to be fixed. I've lost hours of work because of it! Why Is there no autosave/backup feature to account for a crash or accidental erase? This is maddening! I appreciate how simple this program is but it would be great if I could keep what I've created and potential have a way of importing a background image. I don't need layers but PLEASE fix the saving options. Other than that this app is awesome... Wish I could show off my work but it KEEPS GETTING ERASED and there is no way to recover.

One of the best drawing apps. The people who made this AMAZING app had a great approach: Make an app that does one thing, but does it better than anybody else. They completely succeeded! it just feels like drawing with charcoal. Just make sure you go to their site to read the short instructions, they are clear and will save you some time learning the app. On my second sketch I really felt in control and got great results. This app is certainly worth the buck they ask for, I would pay more for it now that I know how good it is.

Best in class!. Everything works fine for me after the update. This is one of the best sketching apps out there and probably the best for iPhone. There is no shading and tonality out there like what exists in this app. I look forward to trying out the colored papers. The tools could be seen as non-intuitive but once you understand it it's impressive how such sensitive controls were packed into this app in a non-intrusive way.

Totally underrated - been using for years. Like procreate is fun. But this is just right all the time without a bunch of options to clutter up your idea. I’ve sat on the train here in Japan sketching people. It’s fantastic

Must have for serious artists. I attend of a lot of life drawing sessions and study the figure by doing quick gestures. I use up pads and pads of paper and have been looking for something on my iPad that will let me do the same. This is the only app I found so far that is simple to use and comes close to what I do on paper. It's just like having a pad of paper and charcoals of different hardness. It renders the figure beautifully. Highly recommended for any artists who draws with charcoal. This app would be even better if I can have a blending tool or select different colors like sanguine, sepia or white on toned paper for a more classical feel. Thanks so much for a great app!

Remarkable. Amazingly simple and intuitive drawing program. Try it!

Thought producer. Your vision can more alive don’t doubt yourself

The Best sketching app period!. I love using this app to sketch out my ideas then save them to photos next use it in other drawing apps that have color and fx. I love the flow, ease and simplicity of this app. now it's been updated with it feels like its more precise and even more intuitive. Don't even bother looking for other sketching apps. Unlike most drawing apps this will get your drawings looking professional and an amateur can actually draw the impressive examples you always see.

Close to perfect. I have many (way too many) art apps. I absolutely love this app for doing exactly what it says: sketching. I like that it is kept simple and only meant to do the one thing. Two things keep this from being 5 star for me: I find the control circle a little awkward to manipulate. I am hoping it will become more intuitive the more I use it; and I wish I could import a picture for reference when I am sketching. Not necessarily as a layer, but just something I can pin to the page to look back and forth at as I sketch. If you are looking for a solid, straight forward app to simply sketch then I would highly recommend this. As close to paper and pencil as I've found yet.

Great for storyboarding!. Love this app.

Nice but. Difficult to swipe upward to access tools.

It Has a Place. As a Pro who has several other full-featured apps on my iPad Pro, I was looking for a very simple drawing app for use on my iPhone 6S. Since Autodesk stabbed users in the back and dumped their lite version of Sketchbook I haven't come across another app that served the same basic purpose. Asketch seems like it will fill the bill. Very clean and simple. Only the basic necessities for jotting a quick sketch or idea (though more complex work can be done). The interface is very clever and efficient IF YOU FIND OUT HOW TO USE IT. Don't even know if it is useable with a stylus, but then I don't carry one with my phone, so that is not an issue. This is for simple stuff, executed with my finger, and it seems to do that very well. ADDENDUM: A recent update took away the ability to utilize a broad brush/pencil for color-filling areas. I also keep this app on my iPad Pro for quick conceptualizing, and the loss of the ability to color-fill areas really reduces it’s usefulness. It is now essentially a line drawing app, and the supposed adjustment of line thickness is almost imperceptible, even with the Apple Pencil. ADDENDUM 2: The developer has responded to my criticisms, and advised that adjustments are available for the program in my iPad’s settings. Frankly, I had never thought of looking there, as most apps typically have adjustments available within the program. Knowing about these adjustments helps restore some usefulness for me, though some of the available adjustments really need clarification as to their function. There should at least be a link to an instruction manual embedded within the program. If there is a manual I haven’t seen it. The two programs I use mostly use professionally are Procreate and Concepts. Asketch still provides a very useful simple tool. Thanks to the developer for “being home”

The BEST "sketch" App without question!!!. This is hands down the best sketch app on the iPad. It is simply like having your pencil and sketchbook with you at all times. I have purchased 4 other drawing/painting apps and I come back to this every single time. It is simple, it is functional, and it makes drawing fun. I noticed today that the App Store had a Drawing / Painting section this week and it did not feature this app, what a mistake by Apple!! I have done over 100 sketches using this app and even used it to create my story board for a 3D animation project I was creating using Maya (for Mac). I turned in my sketches and the project was quickly approved and I got great compliments on the quality of the sketching within my story board. If your looking for a great drawing app without a bunch of fluff... this is for you!!!

Hi there. One of the nicest applications i used . There is a disadvantage when you go to the tools by lifting the screen to the top Give him 7 out of 10

Needs options to make it work. In general, the idea behind the app is really good and it's mostly well executed. Sure, color would be nice, but it's not required. What doesn't work well is the pencil adjustment via pinch and zoom as well as the double-tap to bring up the menu; both problems have been pointed out by other reviewers. If you are using a stylus, having to use the fingers to change the pencil options is cumbersome. What's really getting in the way, though, is the fact that the menu pops up when you try to draw short strokes fast enough that the program things you double-tapped the screen. This is the real show stopper. There needs to be an option to disable this or at least designate a corner for double taps. Designating corners to adjust focus and line thickness would also be a welcome addition for those not using the fingers to draw. It also appears that the app hasn't been updated in a while. Is the developer still around? Update: Latest version addresses the main problems I had with the program so far and adds some useful features. I can recommend this app now to anybody who likes to draw with a pencil. It feels very natural and is almost as smooth as Penultimate.

Seeing is Believing. I bought ASketch about three months ago and couldn't be happier. It seemed too good to be true when I bought it, but within 45 minutes of purchasing the app I finished a full drawing and was amazed at the realistic results! Since then, it's been a "go to" tool and lives with my most important apps on the first page of my iPad. But this is the incredible part; when I meet fellow artists in school lounges and on the train to campus while I'm drawing in ASketch, they usually ask me what app I'm using. And 95% of the time, they in love with it before even buying-- Heck, I've even had a few friends (and a teacher) purchase it right on the spot! Plus, the final pieces have fooled a few folks into thinking these are actual graphite sketches. That's the power of ASketch's results. You won't be disappointed!!

Writing a new review…. Skip down to the bottom for the quick version. Eight years ago I wrote my first review for this app. The app was getting too many bad reviews in my opinion. It was a beautiful idea in it’s simplicity. Give people the ability to sketch on their phones. I was using it on a second or third generation iPod touch. I don’t remember now which it was. But I do remember that this app offered enough to really be creative. The limitations required that the artist experiment and find a way to do what they were thinking. As a musician I always like putting myself into situations where I’m extremely limited and see what I can come up with. This was simply a different art form that was doing the same thing and really forced me to expand my thinking because I couldn’t expand my tools. Well, other reviewer‘s did not like this at all. They kept screaming that it needed to have this or that and it didn’t even have this other thing that they wanted. It was like they wanted a complete Photoshop or Paint program in their phone eight years ago. So my review was pretty angry against other reviewer‘s rather than promoting how good this app was. Here’s all you really need to know… It’s an excellent intuitive app. It has grown with iOS but still creates a mild challenge. It gives you a certain set of tools and challenges you to explore your creativity. It’s an awesome sketch app. Be imaginative!

Easy to learn fascinating to use. keep this app simple. I barely use the color option. If you draw this is an great app. I show this to every artist I know. It’s not drawing exactly the lines I put down. There is a wonderful aspect that’s unexpected but fascinating. fun. And simple without a million menus and choices.

Wrongly charged!. AppAdvice advertised that app was on sale for free so downloaded for a look... However have just seen that a charge of $1.99 has been made. It won't break the bank but not happy with what I hope was a simple mistake.

Please Read. Good app. My problems are, the iPod Touch's touch screen is meant to recognize fingertips, so you can't use a stylus. My finger can't make precise lines. The zoom feature, well, you can't make a picture with many small things, such as a landscape, because when you zoom in, you don't have a grid, so it's hard to know where you are at on the pad. You must use the scroll bars on the sides to judge your location. If you sketch a line, then zoom in, the quality of that said line decreases and it becomes all "pixel-ly". If you sketch one line across, then w/o lifting your finger, and swipe back, it makes a shadow in the space between the lines. I like that. There IS a save feature. The sketching effect that this app makes is that of smoke. The screenshots displayed above were most likely done by a professional, or at least on an iPad. The easiest thing to make is a tree (pine that is). Maybe it's just me, with my iPod Touch, and my normal size fingers. It wasn't a complete waste of money, but yet it wasn't the best purchase. It is actually pretty hard to rate this app.

It has been updated in years purchase something else. I loved drawing on this application. The ink is amazing however I wish it had more features.

Sketch. How can I rate this when it does not work, on my ipad. I downloaded it, the blank page came up with som symbols, went o swipe the page, tap it etc, but would not move, then i could not leave the page nor start gain. paid $1.99 basically as a donation for something that's a dud.

Enjoyable BUT... How do I get it to copy my creations to photos rather than just gallery?? Have produced some interesting sketches . More work needed from the App. Creators. On the righty track just haven't reached destination. Keep going worth a try if things improve. P.W.

Crashed on start up.. Crashed on start up and stayed that way.....DON'T CONSIDER!

Doesnt work. Hopefully they will fix this app

Needs more options. It needs the option to turn the shading on and off, to draw a line without it adding/shading the extra stuff.

Love the app .........but. Needs updates ....seems the developer is no longer interested in advancing what is my favorite sketch tool

Lord Shannow. This application is just great. Simple interface and easy to use. One small improvement would be the ability to re-open previous drawings to continue working on them. The addition of a colour wheel with pencil or pastel texture would also be terrific. Apart from that, I love it and use it every day. I think even accomplished artists would be impressed. Highly recommended.

Not behd. I like the app, but on my iPhone, when I swipe up to bring the menu/function button, it keeps swiping the whole app away. Very frustrating. But when using it, it’s actually really good.

Great Contrast. Feel like REALLY drawing with charcoal ....and without the mess. Beautiful contrast. Superb for quick sketches and doodling. Simple and elegant. Have more control over my mark making process than my initial reaction.

Best sketching app. So simple and easy to use. Without unnecessary features like Photoshop

Divusaugustus. ASKetch is THE BEST procedural drawing app. I wrote a review 2 years ago and ASKetch has improved with some fine new features. The inevitable bugs that come with iOS updates are quickly addressed. The addition of colour is welcome. The incremental development is a wise approach as the app is reliable and not encumbered with gimmicks. Every new feature seems well thought through and in keeping with the aesthetic that is particular to ASKetch. It is THE artists' app. Well done Andy. ASKetch is unique in the pool of procedural apps and we'll worth it's asking price.

Just like harmony!. I really wanted an iPad app that mimicked the harmony web app and this is pretty close. My only complaint is that the menu is somewhat unresponsive at times. For future versions I'd like to see community integration of some kind to share users sketches and perhaps the option to save/open pieces so they can be reworked at a later date. Screen capping to save is one thing but I'd like the ability to import a picture to work on. This would also be great for sketching onto another drawing or photo!

Excellence. Excellente application. Très intéressante pour les esquisses et le simple gribouillage. Facile d'utilisation.

Most used drawing app. My most frequently used drawing app! Highly expressive and great line / shadow work! Would like to see a few more brushes and ability to manually control the width of the stroke but otherwise a terrific drawing program.

A great lightweight and responsive app. Very fluid and easy to use. Easy to pick up and understand, very tactile and works perfect. Would love to see an update that allows the user to export to library so that sketches can be developed further in other art applications.

Two years now. over the long run I keep coming back to using this one. The tutorial made it easy for a neophyte. Thanks.

AMA-zing.... This app is amazing see it used a lot very nice and epic. I think it would be kind of nice if there was a color section so you could go o that and also make color pictures, but very great app..:) :)

Eraser stopped working after updating to the latest version!. This is a great drawing app!! please fix this problem.

Asketch. Just bought it this evening and it crashed once I opened it and it won't reopen. I hope the developer contacts me to either fix problem or returns my money. I will post again to let others know whether matter was satisfactorily resolved. At present, I strongly advise not to purchase. Caveat emptor!!!

One cool app.... This is one cool app, and at the low price, a must-have for any iPad artist. The algorithm it uses to fill your strokes and the spaces in-between is a fascinating new paradigm that can surprise you and take you in new stylistic directions that you may not have previously explored. The user interface is minimalist, which can be nice, if well done. Here, the implementation is awkward: two-finger tap to invoke the small toolbar, but one-finger tap to close. Little user experience nuances like this seem like nothing at first, but all add up to an app that feels like a personal project, rather than a a professional app developer's bread-and-butter. The sketching tools have an unusual interface for controlling pressure and density - kind of neat, but certainly not obvious without reading the help text that the developer provides here on the App Store. The controls are all gestural, pinch to change sample size and twist (like you're rotating something) to change pressure. The eraser tool is currently broken. Unless you set the density to 100%, you cannot erase to pure white - a faint shadow of the artwork you were erasing remains on the canvas. This makes it very hard to gradually erase something. The smudge feature that was recently added has great potential, and will hopefully become a great tool in future updates. The sample images that you see here on the App Store are seriously impressive. After a few months with this app I still have not found the control I would need to achieve that subtle level of shading. Regardless, the app has pushed me creatively in many new directions, and is my primary go-to app when I have the desire to sketch but don't have a specific objective in mind. A great creative tool! I do hope sales go up to encourage the author to sink some real development hours into this app and make it truly live up to its awesome potential!

Great app for charcoal drawing. I love this app. It is easy to use and it gives you the effect of drawing with charcoal. For a quick tutorial of the functions, go to the developer's website. There is an artifact when drawing thin lines close together but if you enlarge the drawing, you can eliminate that. It remains a challenge if you would like to have one continuous thin line next to another. For some reason I can only email drawings to myself (and save to photos from there), it will not let me save to my photos, but otherwise great!

ASKetch. This app is a great way to express all that artistic personality you have within you. This app with be like your using your very own pencil, but your using your finger. It shows the ways of art and different ways to draw what you've wished of drawing your whole life.it really does make you feel like you have known this way of art for years when really you just got this app today and it's very easy to do the strokes with your finger and if you wish to lighten the color up,and or erase the mistake you have made. I must admit it is very hard to make the drawings on this app look non pro. I recommend this app for children over the age of 7 or 8 years of age.

Awesome. I really enjoy using this app. It make you pay attention to what lines and how many you really need to get a beautiful piece of art.

Won't work. This would be a great app if it worked right, it stays open for like a min at most then crashes, I wish I would of read the reviews on it be for wasting money on thing app, if there ganna charge for apps they should make sure there apps work it's a piss off to wast cash on things that dont work

Just a thank you.... I’ve rated this app before and wanted to update my review but seems Apple wants me to write a new one! I’ve had this app on various devices, it’s one that I download first. It’s a good clean easy sketching app that I get lost in sometimes...lol...I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you to the developer.

Won't work. I've loaded this and reloaded it and it keeps crashing. When it does it won't open again. The only solution appears to be deleting it and re-installing. Then it begins again. I can find no way to actually use this app. It just won't work at all without crashing and then needing to be deleted and re-installed to open it... If you want to do this forever... I'll not see that dollar or that 30 minutes of my life again. How did this make it to the app store?

Asketch is a disappointment. Iwent looking for a simple drawing app and now Want a refund... Terrible app compared to sketchbook ink, which i found after this disappointment. Regret parting with the $$ for this. Terrible user experience, the erase tool is inscrutable, the draw tools are just not as good as sbook ink and well.. Ink is free. Look elsewhere

Not worth it. There is plenty of more useful app. It's bugging on my ipad as well

Buggy, very simple. Meh. Good for basic sketches. Doesn't aspire to be anything unique, hence doesn't inspire either. Keeps changing the pen to the colour pen even when I want the black pen. Shading is turned on all the time, hence can't just draw a line. Please fix.

Great sketch app. Out of all the drawing apps I own, this is the one I use most often (by far). It's simple to use and has nice results.

Excellent. Simple, elegant UI that has an amazing range of options. Very fast response that makes drawing with this app easy and intuitive. Definitely the best of the bunch.

Doesn’t work on my iPod 📱. Just downloaded it. Says it is supposed to work on iPod touch. I don’t know if there is a glitch in the app or it simply does not work on iPod touch. Screen just goes black. Don’t think problem is at my end. It’s a latest Gen iPod 📱. Developer might want to try it out on one of them. Have to give one Star because of that. Might be a great app otherwise.

Simple but Effective Sketch App. Easy to use and the few tools are more that adequate to produce great BW sketches. It's my favorite.

Love the Gestures. Makes the best use of multitouch capability of iPad. Love the brush manipulation gesture. Great for quick drawing, but quite limited for moving on beyond the simple sketching - but that's what it was advertised to do, so it does best. Would love to see what the dev has up his sleeve for updates or other apps.

Pretty Cool. This app is really amazing if you are not a great artist, because it really does make your doodles look like real art. I wish there were more choices for thickness and maybe shade. Also it would be nice if there were different styles for different kinds of drawings, but overall this is a great app!

Sweet and Simple. This app is truly nothing more than a pencil and a sketchbook, and combined with and old Pogo stylus produces the best line quality I've experienced with an iOS app. Cheers!

Change my rating. Took another look at it and I'm glad I did. It does have an eraser tool. This app is quite realistic:)

This is VERY different from old version. I loved the old version of this amazing app. I chose the option of keeping the old pencil but the app is not the same. Wish I would not have upgraded. It has lost its former intuitive touch. Some of you may prefer the new... But I miss the way the old one did shading and created curves and corners.

Wow. Buy this right now.. This is my favorite app right now. My first two drawings turned out amazing. Can't recommend it enough. It makes the other drawing apps look silly by comparison. The only thing I'd like is the ability to change background colors or the color of the pencil. But I'm not complaining. Love this app so much!!!

Look! I can draw!. great app! makes my chicken scratches look picasso- like. zoom ability would make it 6 stars.

Awesome. This app just keeps getting better with each update. I have tried just about every drawing app. The only thing I would ask for is an easier way to zoom in and out. Keep up the great work!

Average app. I downloaded this app hoping for a fun sketching app... I immediately discovered that it has some limitation that other digital drawing apps don't... And while that makes for a mores"realistic" charcoal to paper experience it is a bit of a let down to a newbi digital artist... I find the menu UI clunky and awkward ... Without a users guide i'm stumbling blind ... Maybe the developer can rework that for a future release ... I get inconsistent results when drawing with the same "brush" ... Once I resigned myself to the limitations and "just drew" I found the strokes to be smooth and the end results pleasant .... Charcoal was never my medium to begin with ... But I'm not sure this was worth $2... Maybe after an update and some more time spent with the app I'll feel different ...

Unstable, too. Love the app, but after updating to IOS9 it crashes immediately upon starting to draw (new or existing image). I'll change my rating when it's fixed.

Love it!. I love this app! Its simple and works.... Only improvement I would suggest is if there was a way to change color of the pencils... Keep it up!

Very cool but ... I really like it but it would be better with a few improvments: the circle is nice to have an idea of the size but if there was just a bar in the middle of it it would help to now what is the orientation of the pencil, also just a little control over the opacity would really help, cause sometime you want a sharp and more transparent line or a bigger one and more opaque..

Favorite. Absolutely my favorite sketching app. Very very responsive. Great design. Everything about it, is just absolutely amazing. The one thing would make it that much more amazing would be just basic colors.

Works Great!. This a great procedural drawing app! Be sure to visit the web site. It shows how to use the app and what all the symbols mean. It also has an eight minute video demonstration. I emailed a question to developer and got a quick response! This is a great app!

Fantastic!. Developer is very responsive. Super app. Best two bucks I've spent in while. Black or gray paper work around from the dev: draw a blob that is the tone you need your paper to be and use the transform function to make it fill the page. Save as a new image and duplicate as needed. Voila! Super easy.

Awesome app, two features requested. I think this app is incredible. If have both this and livesketch, and between the two, I prefer asketch. I love the more gradual and lighter touch that's so much easier to select than live sketch. One of my favorite purchases and priced well. Frankly, I enjoy asketch much more than many other painting apps I've purchased on itunes. But I really want zooming and dropbox integration. If I could have those two features, I'd be set. Please add them (^-^)

wow. This is one of my favorite apps for sketching no crashes just draw, doodle, create.....I wouldn't mind seeing a few adds.....something like a stump blender.....levels of erase.....black paper to do a negative effect.....again awesome.....the way it is! I see some people gave it poor marks....I don't understand why....this amazing pencil app

needs in-app instructions. this would be better received if it 1) had in-app instructions 2) more options I had downloaded this awhile back, but just now tried to use it. The controls are non-intuitive, though easy enough to use once you know them. But trying to figure it out on your own … well, there doesn’t seem to be any in-app instructions or help, at least I couldn’t find any. The only instructions I found were in the usually hidden description on this page. Once you have that and start playing, it is an ok app. just not as well thought out than other sketch apps and with few options.

One trick pony. This drawing app adds algorithmic shading, making simple sketches more sexy. For skilled artists, it'll probably just get in the way, and the interface is awfully clunky. But it's good stuff for the newbie. One question... Why doesn't the eraser get any of the yummy goodness that the pen does? Being able to jump back and forth and work in negative space would be so nice.

Less is more...... I truly love the simplicity of this application. I draw but love the way this app takes expression and art to a very innocent and enjoyable level. Whether you enjoy drawing, doodling, or just sharing time with the kids or family, this sketch app takes the baggage out of deciding whether to draw to just deciding to draw.

Well.... It's JUST a pad with an algorithm. But a good one. Its like real drawing which is what I was looking for. I didn't want to feel like what I was drawing wasn't really mine. What I out down on paper IS mine. Good job.

Much potential. I love this app. I can see in the lines it lets you have the ability to draw very flexibly in soft and hard pencil. But I weep when I try because it is virtually impossible to dial in the precise pencil properties you want. This forces frequent do overs and the need to erase what you want to erase what you don't. It's a nice interface aesthetically, but dismaying to use. Really hope they can improve this otherwise nice app.

Wonderful!. This app is perfect for both quick doodles and works of art. The automatic shading makes it look unique and beautiful either way. The only thing I would ask for is instructions inside the app. I tend to forget things quite a bit. Other than that, this app can be enjoyed by both amateurs and pros.

This app is great!. A nice app for quick and dirty sketches. Super easy to use, just read the instructions in the description. Plus, it has only a tiny footprint on your phone.

Cool but lacks basic features. This is a very cool app but there are quite a few things lacking. 1. No save feature. I have to take a screen shot to save anything. 2. No zooming. 3. No panning. 4. No colors, brush sizes or shapes. Colors would make this amazing! 5. No layers. It would be great to load up an image to trace. An auto edge detection would be really cool as well. I'd recommend waiting to buy this app until at least some of these features are added.

Great app - involved developer. This is my favorite art app for drawing the "bones" of my pictures. Really intuitive and well-designed. Improving constantly!

Now unstable. I have use this app for a couple of years. I have enjoyed both the new and the older versions. Unfortunately the new version is now very unstable in IOS 8.02 on the iPad. Every time I start a new drawing the page fails after one or two strokes and I have to start all over. I am used to it now so I know what to do but it is frustrating. Please fix.

Great App. Love this app it makes all your doodles look great. I would love to see the ability to open your prevously saved sketches so you can work on them later. Thanks.

Fantastic basic drawing app!. This is a nice simple drawing app. While it doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, you can use it to produce some lovely artwork. I love the charcoal/chalk style effect. I've done some of my best artwork on this app!

Good finger-size. I don't leave too many of these, but I really like this. I'm an old artist. Still getting used to this new digital world. This puppy is worth it. If you added a color pallet it would be out of this world.

It's become my favorite iPad drawing app literally over night.. The line it creates is really nice. Drawing is easy and the finished product looks great. This app makes one off images, no layers or gallery. Also no color, strictly black and white. But you can save the drawings to the iPad photo gallery to import into other apps. If you like to draw pick this up.

Nice. JasonLovesEmily (see review below) doesn't understand that the "webbing" is the point - to produce realistic sketch lines. Nice app, but resizing the blue circle doesn't work. When I try to pinch the circle as per instructions, I get a "transform the image" dialog, which isn't what I want. Frustrating.

Really interesting and unique effects. Love this app. Find myself opening this app rather than Brushes almost every time. Tricky to master....I have to just let go, which can be very helpful and freeing when sketching.

Great sketch app!..but.... This is fantastic! One of the best sketch apps I have found. But it closes any time I try to use the color wheel. Also the interface needs to be tweaked or have some instructions. I will change my review if these problems are fixed. (Almost) a great app!

Soo cool. I love the way any drawing looks with this cool tool. Like to see update with more drawing textures. Don't need color or layers, but it would be nice to be able to save these inside the app too. You revealed the screen shot ability-I didn't know the iPad will take a screen shot of anything!!! Woohoo.

Awesome app. I love the app, but I wish it would work the same on my iPad Pro and my iPhone 7, as good as it works on my iPhone 7 plus. Because I love that effect. But I can't get it to work the same on all of my devices.

very intuitive. aside from a wish that I could turn the auto fill shading on and off, I do like this app quite a bit.

Bug needs fixed. Love this app but with recent update.....I can not choice another color from the color bar without the app closing and jumping to the home screen. Please fix....love this app and this problem is frustrating me!

very good. it´s an excellent application! As the info say, is very addicive, I have a lot of fun drawing head potraits, carttons, characters I suggest 1 or two layer and the hability to import images, for tracing or sometimes when drawing, one of the eyes its a little down or small, a layer could help to fix this problem. Let say I want to import the line drawing and I want to put the shadows and textures ussing this app. Also a Estompe option will be nice I understand this app is designed to be simple, but maybe could still simple with this features att. A satisfied costumer

Simply Amazing!. It took a little understand how to get started with it but if you have a passion for drawing and painting then just get into it. As you learn what it can do it will amaze you. I wish I could post a painting I did using it.

Amazing. This is my favorite art app! I have bought it for three of my friends already and they all love it. We send drawings back and forth everyday. Really good job on this app!

Simple fun!. As a product designer who needs to sketch on the go, I highly recommend this app! If you want to sketch something quickly without hundreds of intense brush options, choose this :)

Great app. The app is great, but it could use some other colors. It is very smooth in the way it draws. I have a problem with when you pick up your finger you can't seam to get it to draw from the same spot, but other than that it is great. I have some other drawing apps none of them compare to this one. If you need to sketch things for work or just for fun it is a great app

clean and intuitive. Great for sketching. Responsive, clean design, intuitive UI, fantastic simulation of charcoal. The new smudge tool leaves thing slightly blurry, but is a solid addition. Would still like to see folders/sketchbooks as well as a few color options ( earth tones and white would be good to simulate conte crayons). Still my favorite sketching app, competing solidly with Paper in terms of pure sketching.

Clean!. Once you get in tune with this app ... There's no turning back! Intuitive is simplifying what happens once the wheels start turning and even with a stylus the ability being able to simulate charcoal drawing ... Just remember, two taps brings up the controls, after that ... Who needs color? LOL!

THIS APP WOULD BE awesome BUT.... There's no IMPORT function, brushes/pens are limited, and changing brush sizes should be a funky pinch and twist action. You should be able to quickly adjust the brush size so you can get back to drawing. I understand that this is a minimalist app, but I think you skimped on a few necessary features. By the way LAYERS would be nice as well. Come on...

Asksketch. For those app users with complaints, it helps to read the instructions, which I found cleared up many of my problems. I like this app. It's the most realistic graphite-type sketching tool I've found!

Delightful app. It is easy to be expressive when drawing with this app. Like the description says it has a limited set of features and bells and whistles. For focusing on line and value sketching this app is well done.

No help. Unfortunately there are no instructions IN the app--only here in the app store. That's not helpful if trying to use this away from any Internet service. Don't like that if I get too close to another line it draws funny little kinds that I didn't want between the two.

amazing!. This is an absolutly amazing application. I can sketch and it comes out beautifully. It is ONLY in black and white, no colors, but its perfect. It makes it appear "sketchy" and it looks like its created by pencils or some kind of charcoal. I don't reccomend this to younger people who are inexperienced in drawing. They won't understand the sketchy appeal.
