Finally it works very well. They have re included text resizing, and the app now works really fast.

Perfect to be informed. You can bothe listen or read worldwide news everyday, well written and objective

Much improved. The app was always reliable and easy, and remarkably improved now (I let my subscription lapse some years ago, but having resubscribed, noticed the difference immediately).

Bad Update. Size font adaptation no longer available… Please bring IA translation from the Economist Expresso to the main app…

Unstable. The app appears to work reasonably on the iPad, but on the phone regularly seizes up, or at least fails to scroll, subsequently crashing completely. IPhone 8 with the latest available iOS updates. Such a pity when there is so much to enjoy, but at least I can still read the weekly edition on the old magazine app.

Never ending. Update: 12x something went wrong, retry...... Quite entertaining these regular updates. I can stream sports, movies.... but downloading The Economist is a never ending slapstick. Today on IPad. Refused to load yesterday. This morning first same, then to 26. %, then 37% , then 70. % and 71%. Since whenever I retry the App switches off. Apparently the cleaning lady is still in charge of IT. Problems downloading. And invented a new one. i hace this on iPhone and iPad. Will download on phone but after pad tells download in progress in other device. And that will go on for 2 days. They seem incapable of getting it fixed. A new update: here we go again. Cannot download on iPad, sound will not download, or after download succeeded, in the plane I find out that it did not. Really getting Poff. Note: this evaluates the app, not the magazine.

Great but expensive journalism. Everything is great (choice of topics, critical discussions, data-based, short articles to catch-up and longer in depth discussion…) except for the price.

Cast function is missing. The app should have the cast function so that you can listen on smart speakers. Also it should get integrated with google home, alexa etc

Continue from where I left last time. Ok app with very good content. Please consider adding a feature to continue reading where I left last time.

The Economist. Useful and creative

Cancelling subscription made very difficult. They make it extremely difficult to cancel your subscription, careful!

Information and entertainment. It is not only that The Economist open your mind by means of insightful information, they are easy to read and entertaining. On top of that, the newsletters and podcast are unparalleled (the for free podcast are priceless). Just one caveat; if you become a subscriber one you will not ever leave it

Basics just don’t work. Horrible app. Every time The Economist changes to a very app it’s like they learned nothing from the past and someone sold them on a great new vision for CX. Also, some testing for bugs would be appreciated before asking us to change to an entirely new app.

Won’t let me cancel…. Shocking how hard they make it to cancel a subscription. And it’s clearly by design. Completely immoral. I’m still unable to cancel…

One sided and lacking depth and investigation. I have checked the articles referred to a few complex matters that are reshaping the world as we know it and I have found more propaganda than analysis, only mainstream opinions. That is making the world lose confidence, when even journalism that used to be first class has become target driven. Sorry, but not with my money

Almost perfect. Auto download and audio playback are still experiencing minor issues.

Can not use gift article functionality. There is an error message to try again. Before, I used to be able to create five links per month to share.

Highly recomended. I really like the economist, I do not give 5 points since I think the suscription is very expensive

Does not work. I have been an avid reader of The Economist for three decades now. I have two subscriptions in my Iphone for the old and new apps. And none of them is recorgnized by the apps. I am paying and they are not working. It is extremely disappointing. And no answer from the customer service at all.

Great app with greater possibilities. I have a digital subscription and use my Phone 80% of the times I read something. The release and development of “the world In brief” section is really great! Keep experimenting and trying new things :-) Here some small posible improvements: - I often get push notifications of articles I have already read, should be relatively straightforward to avoid this and suggest un-read articles. - i tend to read more the “top stories” section as the weekly is less UX friendly somehow, would be interesting to re-think this sections in general. (I also get the feeling there are much less articles in the app than online) - sharing with a friend link not available via app - would be great to have a podcast section with other events (a link to open a podcast tool of your choice would be enough) - the archive is great, how about “rescuing” some articles that can be somehow relevant in current affairs and maybe having a dedicated section for them?

No cross devices sync available. If you use the app in your iPhone and iPad, you won’t be able to sync your read articles between the devices nor the saved articles to be read later. The rest of the app is ok. Please, add cross sync between devices.

Each version is better and more intuitive, but …. But I have a (I consider) very easy request for the app. You could add an action to the notification of an article to be able to SAVE the article without having to open it. This would be also very useful when you receive a notification in the Apple Watch. Thanks!!

The best readable news App!. It works extremely well with a clean and readable format

Not enough info about Spain.. The Economist is increasingly loosing focus on Spain. Its major focus on UK is not so interesting after Brexit. I was wondering to unsubscribe but i was convinced by a The Economist agent to extend by one year. I do not perceive any positive change. Actually Spain elections really important at EU level for the risk of advance of the extreme right, has not been covered accordingly.

iPhone and iPad versions don’t synchronise. The apps both work well and although I found the previous setup of the contents page easier to deal with, they both run well in general terms and are very stable. The only issue I have with the apps is that the red ticks on the contents page which indicate you have read the article don’t synchronise between iPhone and iPad, so an article you have read on your iPhone doesn’t appear as read on your iPad. Annoying but not the end of the world.

Imposible darse de baja. No recomiendo esta revista porque cuando te quieres dar de baja , no te la dan , te siguen cobrando . Llevo ya varios meses intentando darme de baja y siguen cobrando, hoy anule tarjeta e inicie proceso legal para recuperar las cantidades cobradas . No os subscribáis , son unos ladrones .

Infuriating. Still no better two years after I first wrote this review. This app does not work properly with intermittent connectivity. Each time connectivity is regained, the app resets the article that one is reading to some previously saved state with some other article. Further, the portrait mode only works with one orientation of the iPad. With the older iPads, with a button, it was at least obvious what that orientation needed to be (button at the bottom). With the latest iPads, sans buttons, it is extremely irritating to have to turn the iPad to see which orientation will work. Images for articles are not cached, so that, without connectivity, there are no images displayed. These are basic failures in quality control for which there is no reasonable excuse. I pay a lot of money for this content, so I have a well founded expectation of something a lot better.

Much better. New app is finally working. Good job.

Uneasy to translate. Before I was able to choose a single word in the text and translate it straight away. Now it just allow copy option for the whole text. That makes it very uneasy and annoying.

letters are cut off. Hi, I am using an iPad Air and when I open an article, one and a half letters are cut off (in each line) at the right side of the screen. It happens with any font size and is rather annoying. I can send you a screenshot if you want. Thanks, Eva

The Economist App. Dear, The app is good and easy to use but it isn’t great because I would like to have the paper view as vintage looking... maybe it is more digital but both views can be compatible. It could make a difference!!! Thanks

Slow. I love the Economist, but it drives me crazy how slowly pages load on the iPad app.

The Economist - source of business news. The Economist - does exactly what it says it will do and delivers relevant, concise and data-supported business news. Fast reads - long reads. Data-driven content.

Too many Ads.. I’ve had to update the review from 2 stars to 1 star - the number of ads goes up and up… The iPad version of the app is a little embarrassing. They really need to put work into that. But the main issue is there insist on layering in Ads on top of the already moderately expensive subscription. So you’re on your iPhone and you get an advert for a Samsung or something. It’s really trashy. They should really drop the ads. If you can get past that, the news is good. The opinion is a little predictable, and sometimes it would be nice if it were a bit more sophisticated. But OK, it’s The Economist. 🤷

Good and trustworthy information source. Concise, quality, evidence-based journalism. Something to admire nowadays.

App is regular, content is amazing. Some of the best written pieces in English language out there. But this is a review for the app and it’s: meh. My major annoyances: No sync of favorites between web and app. Articles reload and get lost sometimes after screen is unlocked. And it can occupy a lot of local storage which is ridiculous. None of this is new, it’s been there for the last 2 years. I guess they prefer to pay the journalists rather than developers, which is fair. Content is a 5. App is a 3-ish. 4 overall given that the article quality outweighs the underwhelming app.

Look up function. After the last update, I can’t use the iPad’s look up or translate function in a selected word, I just can copy it. It was a helpful function for looking the meaning of words. Could you please check this issue?

Great Info but miss the print version. I least enjoy The Economist. Nevertheless, I still have a hard time with the digital version. Would it be possible to have a magazine view type? Something where I would be able to see the whole page as is in the print version.

Top Quality. Very high quality but would truly enjoy less monotone audio versions of reports. Perhaps consider NPR as a reference. Naturally, we're more likely to recall more lively, authentic and personality in audio input tones.

reading experience too focused on breaking news. I like to read the weekly edition. Sometimes I leave it in the middle of an article , I don’t close the app and I go to a different app on my phone. When I want to go back to where I left, I find myself in the home page, which forces me to navigate through the app and weekly edition again to find the article I was reading. It is really annoying.

Great content, app needs improvement. Content is great but the app needs improvement. While it’s possible to select the text size within the article, the main menu size is very small and it’s not clear if and how this can be increased. It’s not very easy nor intuitive to handle audio. Support is dismal with hour long queues and questionable agents.

Great trustworthy unbiased content!. England is a small but economically mighty island, totally dependent on the rest of the world for raw materials, and with highly educated and critical population. Of course their analysis of world events is second to none! The weekly format concentrates more on analyzing the meaning and consequences of world events, rather than begin distracted by the 24 hour news cycle. I love this magazine! FSC Mexico.

Great content, clunky app. I have been an Economist subscriber for about 20 years. The legacy app downloads audio editions very fast. This app takes extremely long, if it downloads them at all. I expect better from the Economist.

Does not restore purchase. I subscribed through ITunes but this applications is not restoring my purchase. “Purchase was unavailable. Please try again later”

No access to 1843 magazine. The app works well on my iPad, but it doesn’t include the 1843 magazine, so I have to switch to the legacy app

Stream audio does not always work. I have experienced issues to listen the stream audio option and got a message that “something went wrong please try again later”. This message prompted many times during four days without giving me any specific options how to fix it or the chance to report the matter or even speak to someone to report the problem I was facing. Please work on this since it is very annoying being unable to do something about it.

Too slow. The app is well designed but is way too slow. Also, on the weekly tab, the articles don’t show the subtitle or subheadline (I’m not sure of the name of that thing). The legacy app is better.

Do not subscribe. This app uses the dark pattern of not letting you easily unsubscribe, it took me 1 hour of talking through a chat with two different people to get my subscription canceled. Do not encourage companies like this by paying them, I’m so angry at the hoops they made me jump.

Problem listening to articles. I really like the information of the economist. I am a regular subscriber. Problem is that the app does not allow you to hear most of the articles. Some of us can not read small print or would like to listen while driving or running. Not all the articles have listening options. Most of the most recent ones don’t. And the app does not let you use any other method to listen to them. Please fix this. One option is to record all the articles, another is to use a text to speech software to do so, and a third one is to simply let us select the text and ask the iPhone to read it. Thanks for your attention

Significant slowing down of the app. In the past couple of months, the app has become very bugy, with very slow transitions. I’ve used this app for years, and it’s never been this bad. I hope they release a solution for this because it is an essential source of information for which I also pay quite a lot.

IT. This is not about the magazine which is nicely politically correct. It even endorsed Trump's nomination by the electoral college in 2016. This is about the app, that shows an amazingly incompetent IT Team, incapable of getting its downloads right. Update: the audio may be read by very bad vocalists. Each seems to do as she pleases. The high speed Scots woman in particular has no clue. And she may well be part of a minority, therefore cannot be criticized.

Review of the Economist. I am very happy as the articles are written by the finest pens. It’s expensive but it’s worth it. I would give a few more gift articles to spread amongst my friends. Kind regards Bert Boltjes

A way to be connected. Most of the times local news present few international aspects we are involved in. The economist allow us to give a look to world behavior and in many ways translate it to our professional perspective on businesses to be better prepared for the present and future scenarios.

Informative and Fun. The only magazine which is optimum subscription cost, very informative and fun to read. My valued hobby is ECONOMIST.

This app stole my money. Compré la suscripción a la App nada barata y en otra ocasión cuando volvió a pedirme el user y password, no hubo manera que me firmara con ningún mail asociado a mi cuenta, escribí directamente a The Economist y no me sirvió de nada. Me firmé con todos los users posibles y no funcionó, el único que identificaba me re enviaba al sitio de The Economist, cambiaba el password y tampoco me funcionó. Ojalá me regresen el dinero por esta costosísima suscripción. Pésima User Experience

Freezed. The app is very slow, it takes a lot of intents to open an article, it just doesn’t respond to the touch. Very frustrating.

Not compatible with past version. I have been paying for more than a year The Economist Legacy App and using it on my iPhone. I just bought an iPad, and I downloaded the new app and the new app does not respect my subscription. I pushes you to purchase more expensive subscriptions.

Good but used to be better. Great reading and news update. However, it was a magazine where you needed to know economics to understand. Now, everyones understand. Hence, the economic analisys is way too basic.

Totally worth it!!. I gave good thinking about buying the subscription and then decided to go for the whole year and so far its pretty great and it has content that you get no where else.

A Must-read. The Economist is one of the few quality weeklies left, and it is, in my view, by far and away the best in terms of broadness of topics covered and quality of reporting. Reading it will keep you informed about the world. The Economist takes positions on issues, and is upfront about its stance, but always argues them out rationally and gives due consideration to counter-arguments.

Indispensable reading. The crisis in prent media means that the net of foreign correspondents has shrunk dramatically. Only one publication has maintained its network of correspondents and thequality of its reporting and analysis: The Economist. If you want to know and understand what’s going on in the world, you literally have no choice but to read The Economist. It is worth every penny.

Mehh…. The articles are not bad, but what really bothered me was that for you to be able to cancel your subscription you have go through all sorts of hoops and loops, it literally took me almost an hour to be able con cancel my subscription. Just ridiculous.
