Can’t create an account to use bookmarks. It seems they don’t allow accounts outside Korea to create an account which means you can’t use bookmarks. Even when I submitted my passport (which seems a bit much?) my account remained suspended. Same thing happened to all of those I was travelling with.

Unusable for people who don’t speak Korean. This app is a perfect example of how xenophobic almost the entire country of Korea really is. Even if you set the app to English, 90% is still in Korean. Also if the app is set to English and you search for restaurants in your area, it will only recommend "Western" restaurants (like burger or pizza places). If the app is set to Korean however you get a bigger variety of restaurants with mostly Korean restaurants being shown. Go to hell Naver.

Unreliable and nearly unusable for international users. I used Naver Maps to plan my trip to Korea and created an account just for that. Out of nowhere, my account was suspended without any warning or explanation. I didn’t violate any terms, I simply saved places using the bookmark feature and tried to book activities. Customer support is almost impossible to reach. All my saved locations are now gone. If you’re not living in Korea or don’t have a Korean phone number, don’t expect help. Extremely disappointing and not trustworthy for travelers.

Account suspended. The suspended my account because I was using it from abroad to prepare my vacation in South Korea. I went through the whole verification process and send them a picture of my ID, but the account remains blocked.

good but need to be improved. Compare to the apple map and google map, which work so bad in Korea, the naver map can show the right transfers information and find the destination in the area nearby. However, it cannot find the accurate point of destination. The accuracy of the gps seems not too good. So at the crossing of the road it is so hard to recognize the right way.

Perfect example why korea is not an „it nation“. This app is incredibly useless. At least, the app didnt understand the importance of user experience, nor did it understand that non-korean people use this app. - if you search in English, only a selection of results are shown. Absolutely no reason why. - if your phone or app is set to english, but you miraculously are able to speak and write the korean language, you will not find places when you type in korean. Example: If your phone or app is set to english, you cant find the district insadong by its original name 인사동 - only in the english spelling „insadong“. If you are unlucky and the westernized spelling is more complex, good luck finding the place - you will have to guess the western spelling (and probably fail because in most cases its not as obvious as insadong). - in a similar fashion, there are genius places, that have an english name, which is not directly westernized from korean. Since you cant search the place in korean, you will not be able to find the place, unless the registered english name is unknown to you. - unless you search for a perfectly matching term, you will have difficulties finding places. example: there is a place called „gaeseongmandu koong“ which stands for „gaesong dumpling palace“. You will not find this place unless you explicitly search for (unknown) specific combinations of search terms. Try finding it by eg „gaeseong mandu insadong“, which would be a quite obvious search terms for this place. Youd have to use the name „koong“ or youd have to be VERY generic and search for „dumpling insadong“ and somehow find in the list of dumpling places all over insadong. How stupid.

all my bookmarks got deleted. randomly all of my bookmarks got deleted. I wanted to visit these places again. As a foreigner there’s also no way to even get in contact with customer service. I’ll be using kakao maps from now on 👍🏻

Language settings must be improved. Finding a restaurant without being able to speak or read korean is not possible, as the filter for restaurants and other POIs is in korean although the language setting is set to english.

Die App öffnet nach der Installation in koreanisch. Eine Möglichkeit zum Wechsel in die englische Sprache lässt sich nicht finden. Daher ist die App für mich nicht nutzbar.

Incredibly bad. This app only exists because Korean government does not allow Google and Apple to do their business here. And this is what you get instead. One of the worst attempts to copy what those companies mastered to do. It's impossible to find anything. No real English support. No filtering on Restaurants with high reviews, I literally have to click through all. Constant bugs. This app was not made by professionals.

NOT in English!. Despite what the description says, this App is not available in English.

Frustrating experience. The app is great for navigating and finding your way around public transportation, BUT if you’re a foreigner creating an account outside of Korea, the app is really frustrating! I spent hours saving locations for my trip, and suddenly my account was locked. So I uploaded my ID and other documents to get it unlocked, just as the help page said, but they couldn’t do anything. I then opened a new account and had it verified right away so that something like this wouldn’t happen again. I entered all the locations there as well. Just a short time later, the account was suspended again, and this time, too, I only got the response that they couldn’t do anything. Without a Korean phone number, I can’t reactivate the account myself either. There are lots of people on Reddit who’ve shared similar experiences. How can this be? I’m now switching to a different app to plan my vacation, because I’m not going to create a new account a third time. @Naver: Please make the app more user-friendly for people from abroad!!

App crashing. App crashes when Navi is launched

Not very useable. The app is inaccurate and often fails to find addresses, even when they are entered in Korean. The GPS is also very imprecise. On top of that, the app constantly freezes and has to be restarted. For something that claims to be designed for use on the go and for everyone, it’s honestly quite poor. The app is not intuitive at all. Considering that there aren’t really any alternative features offered, this is pretty disappointing. Not recommended.

Sh..ty app. Never seen such a bad programmed app. Unfortunately it’s the only way to navigate in Korea. Translation sometimes is missing. I don’t know if it’s a user issue, but please add a proper bicycle mode.

Please include proper English version!. If you try using the app in English, still like 90% are still Korean letters, even in the settings. The only feature that working is finding out how to get from A to B. I‘ll try Kakao now.

App mit Verbesserungspotenzial. [-] Aktuell eine der wenigen Apps in Korea welche für die Navigation zu Fuß oder per Auto überhaupt möglich sind. Die Übersetzungen sind leider weit entfernt von einer vollständigen und auch die Suche mit englischer oder deutscher Sprache ist bei weitem nicht so effektiv wie gleich in koreanisch zu suchen. Das ist auch eigentlich der größte Kritikpunkt an der App. [+] Positiv hervorheben kann man das intuitive UI. Es sieht modern aus und beinhaltet teils echt tolle Funktionen. In größeren Städten ist Naver Maps sogar an die Ampeln gekoppelt und zeigt an wann diese wieder grün schalten. Auch Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzungen inklusive Kameras werden vorzeitig angezeigt. An den meisten Abzweigungen wird eine etwas detailliertere Darstellung angezeigt was es deutlich erleichtert den richtigen Weg einzuschlagen. Ich würde weiter bei Naver Maps bleiben solange andere Alternativen wie Google Maps (kommt wohl bald auch für Auto/ Laufen) und Apple Maps so gut wie keine Adressen und Orte gespeichert haben. Ansonsten entgehen einem zu viele mögliche Zielorte.

Could be better. - live tracking drains your battery more than any games could - GPS at the start is useless, you’ll need to put start point manually - bus favouritism, often don’t recommend favourable subway connections - addresses don’t show up every now and then - slow loading times I only gave the second star because I didn’t have any problems with the recommended bus routes, other than hating to take the bus (I gave up counting how often they nearly crashed in the car madness in Seoul…)

Wrong times and useless for foreigners. it does not provide the right departure times and is not user friendly for foreigners because most things are written in korean

Incorrect public transport information. Pro: A lot of small shops and service providers like manicure are registered and can be found very easily including prices, pictures etc. Also possible sometimes to book a treatment directly via Naver. Con: The public transportation is incorrect very frequently. We had to take a taxi twice because Naver gave completely wrong times, and we switched to Google maps frequently to double check.

Worst navigation app!!. It hardly ever finds a place, so you end up looking for the place on the map before navigating to it. Takes ages and ultra complicated to use. The indicated waiting times are only sometimes accurate, so don’t rely on them.

Only a fragment is translated. Actually it’d be a pretty useful app for tourists. Unfortunately there’s only very little translated into English
