Nicht vertrauenswürdig. Wollte ein Abo bei einem Autor kündigen. Das geht nur über deren Website. Im Browser wurde angezeigt, dass das Abo gekündigt wurde. Jetzt, einen knappen Monat später hat Substack wieder Geld bei mir abgebucht. Habe dann gesehen, dass das Abo immer noch besteht. Habe es wieder gekündigt und es bestand danach immer noch. Habe einen zweiten Weg gefunden es zu kündigen. Im Browser steht nun, dass gekündigt wurde. Im iOS App hingegen steht immer noch, dass das Abo besteht. Es gibt keine richtigen Support. Werde das über die Bank blockieren müssen.

Super annoyed about default follow-all option. And I can‘t find how to unfollow again. So annoying.

Non existing support. Works unless you got a problem with payment or subscriptions and would need someone to talk to. Support is only run by an AI that doesn’t understand but the simplest of questions. No other contact is possible or that you would get a response from the Substack service company.

Switching between accounts. Would love to be able to easy switch between accounts.

Payment functions main negative. Reading is good, but anything payment related is very painful and typically needs to be done via the website

Great platform. This is a terrific platform whether you’re a curious reader or you want to start your own blog and moneitze it in the long run.

Keeps crashing while scrolling in “Notes”. Currently it’s impossible for me to use the notes feature because the app keeps crashing whenever I scroll around on notes. Happens on latest app version (1.2.15) on iOS 16.3.1. Apart from that there is obvious way to report bugs inside the app or on their website.

Good read over noise. If you want to focus on good reading and writing without noisy distractions, this is the place.

No way to report bugs. There is no way on the substack website, app, or any contact email to report bugs. That’s certainly a confident move. In any case, I’m reporting here in hope it can get through. I have lost the majority of my subscriptions. One day they just weren’t there, save for my three paid for subs and one free sub. I used to have roughly half a dozen unpaid subs, among them some of my favourite writers. They are all gone, and I need to search through and resubscribe. Further, my feed has stopped updating. There are new posts from what subs have remained, I can see them directly on their respective substacks, but they do not show on my feed. My feed completely died for the last several days and it took me to actively search around to discover this. Aside from these issues, please - make some means of reporting bugs available! You surely can’t rely solely on a user faq and instrumentation to take care of possible issues that may (read: will) arise.

Good app, needs a darkmode. It’s an app to read the articles on the website. It works well, but should get the functionality of managing subscriptions in the app. Also, I’d really like a darkmode, or even some more options like sepia etc.

Substack was much needed. I just hope substack continues to serve without the shameful media censorship we see across all other platform.

Work in progress. I love the new notes feature, unfortunately the app keeps crashing at the moment. Hope it’ll be sorted soon. A couple of weeks later : still crashing. I desperately want to give the app 5 stars but they make it a bit difficult.

Amazing for young writers and read and find a good laugh. And also for all aspiring young people who are looking forward to learning about their future and how they can make it better for themselves as marginalized writers. There’s a variety of different types and styles and the fact that you can add Media into it, makes it feel like IG for Millennials like me, trapped in the body of a sad Gen Z who lives in Europe

Love it. The pure idea of Substack is amazing. Just the customizing to chose another subscription model is loading sometimes endles for me :/

Highly recommended. If you’re looking for an alternative option to find your true fans and monetize your writing skills at the same time, the Substack app is a great app to start. It provides writers the opportunity to showcase their creative writing talents and stories without complicating things. It’s simple to install and use. Definitely a writer must-have! ❤️

Good concept really bad app. Concept is great but the app is not working at all. Cannot read a single article before it breaks down.

Great! Some features missing. I would love a paginated mode, where you swipe through pages from left to right, like a book. Also Full justification for the main text. Collapsable comments.

New update sucks. The new inbox is really disorienting and there’s no option to make it chronological in any way. Also, I shouldn’t have to leave a terrible review just to report something. The new inbox and home page design are really bugging me and taking away from my enjoyment of newsletters!

Requires personal data to be used → illegal. This app should be removed ASAP, since it offers no way of anynomous usage.

When email sharing. Have the title appear in the subject line. Thank you.

Good without hopefully more updates to come. What happened to being able to edit your theme? I understand it is reader focused but then its not much that seperates this platform from Medium for example, I’d also like to see some updated in how discoverable content similar to mine is accessible through the platforms algorithm.

American content. It seems to offer primarily American content, which is fine if that is what you want. In times like In these, I do not.

No translaion service.... In the age of AI and other possiblities it should be possible to translate long texts.

Not accessible. As a blind person, I was unable to navigate and use the appp satisfactorily. It is simply not accessible enough through VoiceOver, which is really deplorable considering how Substack boasts being a platform for diverse and often unheard voices.

I deleted my account. This has to be one of the worst apps ever made. Utterly chaotic, I constantly lose my place , it jumps to random pages, it freezes, there is zero logic in the way works, it deletes half written comments by itself.

Very Buggy. Not a good experience, content jumps around constantly so you need seven try's to scroll by something for good.

Most annoying app ever. There’s just no end to the notifications and emails this app is sending. Due to the massive “LOOK AT ME!” vibe from this application I’ve uninstalled it

AppleTV-Login geht nicht. Der Code, den man bei Login auf AppleTV bestätigen soll, ändert sich ca. alle fünf Sekunden. So schnell kann ich nicht acht Zeichen eintippen plus Bestätigung drücken plus nochmal confirmen.

App shuts down after starting. I really loved the app so far. Since 2 days I cannot use the app. It automatically shuts down after 1-2 seconds directly after starting it.

Why videos / reels?. I used to love substack, mostly because it was slow and in-depth content. Now ticktock style videos are hijacking the app. Sad.

doesn't work and no laptop version. Signed up for a writer's email list and even to unlock the free articles you need the app. Fine. Then they need to verify my phone number. Fine. But oops! The button for "send code" to verify number doesn't work. Oops. Tried on laptop but oops! only leads to the app, no Substack on laptops apparently. Well, I tried. Guess I won't be using Substack.

Relevance. I like engaging content. At the moment Substack is delivering it and the content served seems relevant.

No Pause/Play Button in the Video Tab🤬. It is so annoying, trying to watch a video and wanting to press pause to read a statistic or simillar. But all that you can do is mute the ffffing video!!

Careful with free trials. Tried to cancel a free trial I started and could not find the option to cancel anywhere on the app or my apple subscriptions. Had to do it from the browser, and even there it is also fairly hidden.
