Great magazine miserable app. As fantastic as The New Yorker is journalistically, it’s terrible at customer management. I’ve been a subscriber for well over a decade, but the various apps and websites keep logging me out for getting me - and then asking me to become a subscriber! It’s SO EXHAUSTING. Get a bloody grip Condé Nast!

Dark mode?. With a long Night Shift and a lot of time to spare, reading through the app is such a pain. Please get dark mode done. Thanks!

Love the New Yorker, the app is a mess. It seems you now need to have an account with Conde Nast, even when you already have a subscription via the app (store). The error messages are misleading and confusing and the support staff seems to be completely in the dark about this

Crossword doesn‘t save progress properly. I love to do the crosswords on weekend mornings. but it‘s a real bummer, that the progress is sometimes lost if you switch to another app for a minute and then back. happened a few times already and it‘s a real **** in the *** especially since I bought the subscription!!

fine but basic. a great thing to have these articles, but the app lacks so much - why no search within articles? why can't it save your place? why no search by author? a great archive though

Makes it very difficult to unsubscribe. I subscribed via the website, which makes it very difficult to unsubscribe (so far I have not succeeded). For this reason alone I would not recommend subscribing.

Customer Support is Awful. The very good journalism is overshadowed by a not reacting customer support. Emails are simply not answered. Being an international customer I rather prefer exchanging email conversations instead of phone calls.

Exhausting. Just an infinite loading wheel, that never ends. In combination with the problems on their web site - exhausting!

Serious battery drain issue. This app has a serious battery drain problem. I found that just a half hour or so of usage had drained a good 25% of my battery. I had to uninstall it to keep my phone from dying. This was a disappointing experience as a brand new digital subscriber. I’d be happy to try beta versions or supply diagnostics if you’re interested in fixing this. Otherwise I have to say that I cannot use the app in its current state.

To American for my taste. Interesting articles but from 20 of them only 1 has real value ... the comic strips are cool dough

Still ads for subscriber. Very funny that you still have to see those annoying ads when you pay 90 dollars per year. This is really something you cannot find elsewhere.

Subskription funktioniert nicht. Ich hätte ja durchaus gerne das Abo abgeschlossen, aber aus irgendeinem Grunde wird man für die Subscription aus der App auf eine Webseite umgeleitet… und da geht dann nix mehr. Schade eigentlich, daß es scheinbar keine Möglichkeit in der App selbst gibt.

subscription. linking doesn’t work each time a new update. it seems the app has less attention and the web page. pls provide solid app attention.

app crashes. the app (ipad) crashes when opening the current issue (july 22, 2019). previous issues can be opened without a crash.

App won’t work for me. Claims email unknown. Have written 2 mails, 2nd to customer support, first merely in response to my welcome aboard mail - Sure it’ll be resolved. Looking forward to that and reading, using the app

Podcasts?. How can I find the podcast section? Doesn’t seem to appear anywhere on my app.

Beautiful but buggy with weird navigation. This app looks great, I love the design and typography and attention to detail. It makes it a joy to read articles. When it works. It often freezes, logs me out for no reason, and pressing the Back button goes back to the same article 6 times and only *then* returns to the actually previous article. I also couldn't find a way to return back to the main screen without tapping on that awful Back button many times. Please improve this app and make it as good as it could be!

Interesting articles but terrible subscription management. As others have stated, the app itself isn't bad, the articles are interesting sometimes, but trying to cancel the subscription is almost impossible. You can't do it in the app itself, you are sent to a web page which sends you around in circles and you get lost in a maze of senseless requests: "please log in to manage your subscription" and when you do, the website say, "you are already logged in/subscribed, please change your password" or something lime that. It drives you nuts. Cancelling shouldn't be this hard. I have sent an email and hope that that works. We will see.

Login. Every couple of days I have to do a fresh login. No other news app has this issue. Pls fix.

Good Paper, Lousy App. It would be really nice to be able to read the articles I have paid for on my iPad, but that is not to be. Linking, at least with a European subscription, just doesn’t work. Shame on you people.

Great app, great journalism. I feel well informed, entertained and I always find things that can't be found anywhere else.

Please add category filter and author profiles. The app should have the same features as the website, not less

Great app but lousy account management. I really liked this app but didn‘t want to extend my subscription - no way to cancel it, neither in the app nor in the browser. This is 2023 - shouldn‘t be so hard to offer smooth account management processes!

An improvement, but still not good enough. This is an improvement over their original app. But it still lacks basic features: it forgets where you were in the article if you switch to another app, or accidentally go to another article; the layout on the iPad is silly. I wish they would pay more attention to digital form.

Nur noch genervt 🤬. Seit Monaten schafft es die App nicht mehr sich zu merken, wo im Artikel man aufgehört hat zu lesen. Das macht bei Texten mit langer Lesedauer einfach keinen Spass, zumal es keine Überschriften gibt, an denen man sich orientieren könnte. Schade, weil man im New Yorker wirklich ausgezeichnete Reportagen lesen kann...

Great App but Google Ads. I’m overall very satisfied with the app: clear navigation, good typography and therefore good readability, subtle design so the focus lies clearly in the content. BUT: Even for paid subscriber the app displays Google Ads, which I find concerning in terms of privacy and also a bit outrageous. I try to avoid Google products as much as I can, so I think I have to uninstall this app and use the website with a content blocker turned on.

Totally awesome!. As a broke student I can't really afford any of the New Yorker's subscriptions and neither is the magazine available anywhere near me. As I am still highly fond of quality journalism that reaches beyond mundane broadcasting, this app is as splendid as they come. Since the New York Times released a similar product recently, I am inclined to say that christmas has occured twice this year even for those who aren't christian

Test size setting. Not being able to set the content text size in the app and instead being forced to use the system-wide OS setting is the laziest way of programming. Such a shame for otherwise nice app.

Still much worse than the old App. There are now two Apps for the New Yorker, but both do not offer the stepless Zoom feature we had until last year. Hint for other customers: switch to the Zinio version, which offers a stepless zoom feature and not just three font size settings. Of course you might need a second subscription, but it is worth the money ...
