Theme Sync makes it easier for Shopify merchants to manage the code for their themes through GitHub. You can follow whatever development workflow you prefer and when you are ready to publish your changes you simply create a new GitHub release and Theme Sync will deploy that release to your Shopify store for you. Theme Sync makes releasing new versions of your theme an automated and repeatable process and removes error-prone busy work.

After you have created a GitHub release with the new version of your theme, Theme Sync will take over and perform the following actions to deploy the release to your Shopify store:

• Install the released code as an unpublished theme in the store
• Copy the config/settings_data.json file from the published theme
• Copy the primary locale file from the published theme. For an English store this will usually be locales/en.default.json
• Finally the app will send an email to the store owner once the above steps have been completed.
• The email will contain a link to the new unpublished theme that you can click on in order to test out the theme before you publish it.
