ClearSky: Shop carbon neutral App Reviews

Terra Neutra’s mission is to "Create a carbon positive world". Our focus is to reduce carbon emissions by creating tools to enable businesses and consumers to manage their carbon footprint.

The ClearSky app calculates the carbon footprint of consumer products, such as those in your Shopify store, using Terra Neutra's API which is linked to a peer-reviewed environmentally-extended input-output life cycle assessment databases.

Using this information, ClearSky calculates the cost to offset the carbon footprint of a product/s within the shopping cart, allowing the consumer to choose whether to continue with offsetting the product/s.

For store owners who have used an independent Life Cycle Assessment to calculate the carbon footprint of the product catalogue, ClearSky provides an option to input a custom carbon footprint value.

Store owners who install the app can also decide whether to cover the offset cost of their products they sell, in which case this will be highlighted within the shopping cart.

Where the consumer chooses to offset the carbon footprint of their purchase, the offset is added to their shopping cart on a per product basis, e.g. if the consumer has two items in their cart, Product A and Product B, and chooses to offset both, Product A Offset and Product B Offset will be added to their carts & they will pay for both via the standard checkout and payment user journey.

Where the store owner has chosen to cover the offset cost themselves, a message will notify the consumer that the store owner has made their purchase carbon neutral.

In either case, the carbon footprint of the purchased product/s has been offset and the product is carbon neutral. The offsets used are from Terra Neutra's project portfolio.
