Shopify Bids is a new app from Shopify that gives merchants more ways to sell outside of the traditional Buy Now model. Use it to run online auctions with the ability to schedule auctions, set starting bid, reserve price, and bid increments, and more.

Shopify Bids requires stores to use the Online Store sales channel.

Shopify Bids Guidelines

In addition to the terms of service (the “App Terms”) that apply to your use of Shopify Bids, here are some high level rules of the road to keep in mind:

• To avoid confusion, post rules that will explain to your customers how the bidding process will work (e.g. bidding timelines, how winning bids will be awarded, timelines for completing purchases etc..,)
• You must own the products that you sell on Shopify Bids - consignment sales are not permitted
• Do not engage with bidders directly during the bidding process in order to encourage higher prices or more competitive bids
• Remember that certain products are prohibited from being sold through Shopify Bids, including: animals or livestock; explosives, firearms, or other weapons; real estate or other real property; vehicles (including e-bikes and motorcycles or any other motorized vehicles); alcohol or drugs; consumable items such as food, drinks, supplements, drugs, or any other medication
