The “Loi TVA 2018”, also known as “Article 88 de la loi de finances de 2016” makes it mandatory for merchants to use an approved management and accounting software or cash register system that applies certain standards for maintaining your transaction data. Conservation and archiving of data: the software must allow for an annual closing as well as enabling transaction data to be saved for a period of 6 years. Tax authorities must be able to easily access archived data in the event of an audit.

The law came into force on January 1, 2018.
