Loved it until the recent relentless ads on PREMIUM!!. We pay for Spark premium to collaborate on emails. It was a solid solution for us until a recent new release. After the update, our ability to view and interact with emails was interrupted by a slew (10+) ad screens selling a new Spark with new features. I don’t mind a banner notice or marketing email coming my way, but both my husband and I couldn’t get to our emails because of these ads! They literally blocked our inboxes and provided no option to skip, come back later, or X (close out) the ads. As a result, both of us have no idea what the new features are because we skipped through them as fast as possible to get to urgent issues in each of our inboxes. Don’t market and force ads on premium users. We pay for Spark every month; ironically the invoice came through today… If this is how Spark intends to treat its customers, we’ll be looking for a different solution. I also use Missive and Front for work (2 other email collaboration tools), and they have never interrupted user access to emails like this. Oh, just reopened Spark and it’s making me go through the same prompts AGAIN. Again, can’t get access to my own emails. I’m headed to settings now to reactivate the old Apple Mail app, sigh…

Exchange calendar but Where has this app been all this time?. I am speechless. Before I started using this app on my Mac and iPhone I used the Outlook app. It was okay and it kind of got the job done. This app meets every flaw/bug the Outlook email app had except for one thing! I would really appreciate if you would make the app compatible with the Exchange Calendar on Mac and on the iPhone app but mostly on the Mac. I really enjoyed having all of that in one place on the on the Outlook app. It was seamless and very fluid. As an Exchange Calendar is the only Calendar I use I still use the Apple stock calendar app which to me isn’t all that great. If you could put your own great Readdle twist on your calendar in the spark app it would really help me and I’m sure some other people too!! There is one more suggestion, you should implement a voting system for what features you customers really want/need in the app but still keep the email services. I think it would lighten up your load on email reading and get the job done. Just a thought.

Want to love it but….. I really, and I mean REALLY want to love this app. On the surface it’s everything you could want in an email client. Lately however, problems have crept in making it annoying to use, particularly between devices, where if I delete or arrange messages into relevant folders, it’s all cleaned up on one device, but when i switch to say… my phone… all the messages are still there in the inbox. It isn’t until I kill the app and do a pulldown refresh that the state of the inbox is actually refreshed. On top of that, on any given device at any given time, I’ll check my mail, clean out my inbox and flick the app away, only to discover the red dot with my message count hasn’t updated and it looks like I still have unread messages. To be fair this could just be an issue in ios, but I don’t have this issue with other apps so I dunno. Today, and what prompted me to finally leave a cautionary review - I actually had to delete and reinstall spark on my ipad to get it to realize i had already read and filed my messages on my phone. Minor annoyances to be sure, but as Readdle continues on their corporate path of “we can always make it better” - you’re breaking too much. Change is bad, ok. we spend years building email habits and expectations, and believe me, rocking a comfortable boat with more going on under the hood than you can keep working reliably is not the way. NOT THE WAY.

Redesign not ready. I’ve been a Spark user for years, and largely been happy with the app. Unfortunately, this recent redesign and user experience for this version has me reinstalling the default Mail app. This version is extremely slow, not just on launch, but on everything I want to do that I loved about Spark. The mass “mark as read” or “done” don’t work anymore. The app either crashes or it has an interminable ‘busy’ spinner. App launch isn’t nigh instant anymore, it takes nearly a minute to launch…the quickest I’ve been able to see email on this version is 30 seconds. Then there’s the new premium features prompts. They are so intrusive and get in the way of my workflow. I liked the new tutorial, but the persistence of the premium prompts is aggravating. After the tutorial is done, if the user isn’t premium, then get rid of all the icons and prompts for premium features. It slows everything down when I see a new feature icon but all it does is lead me to a purchase page. It’s okay to remind the user once in a while like you did with reviews, but the persistent premium icons on all email views is too much.

My Selected Mail App. I have tried many email apps as an alternative to a rather bland, but stable, Apple Mail. Purchased many; they looked so good. But every one developed one or more operational issues where I had to abandon them. I needed an iOS app which had a Mac app. When Spark came around, it just clicked. Features were great, functionality good, and was mostly, but not always, stable. This forced me to consider and then actually abandon Spark. Each time, I gravitated back to Apple Mail where the same blandness frustrated me. Communicated with Readdle and went back to Spark with numerous updates. Finally settled on Spark and it has mostly been wonderful to work with. An occasional quirk makes me wonder but still I stay. It is free but that isn’t the criteria which makes them my go-to Mail App.....I would gladly pay $20 or so for it. I do have other Readdle apps and find them all to be outstanding. Hope this helps. It isn’t perfect; nothing is. But its functionality has won me over with their increased stability and presence of a MAC app.

Wish it did less. It has 2 different “smart” inboxes, which I don’t like. Easy enough not to use them. There’s also a calendar. Nothing to write home about. You kinda have to use it because if you try to turn it off, the feature where you can tap a date in an email to add it to your calendar stops working. The auto advance does not work as expected. The only option is to have it take you to the previous email, not the next one. Also the tips when I first started using it were a bit needy. I only saw 2 of them. The first was tucked away at the top of my inbox. I tried to ignore & open an email, but I found that I wasn’t allowed to tap anything until I tapped the button to acknowledge the tip. The second was a video also at the top of my inbox, explaining the smart inbox to me. Again, I tried to open an email to no avail. This one did not have a go away button. I had to wait 10 seconds for the video to end. It also cannot report spam if you use MS outlook/365.

This app still stinks. Updated again: I'm dropping this to one star because the tech team once again asked for logs. Tech team: we keep sending logs, yet the bugs persist for years. That's not good business. Updated: It’s amazing that I wrote the below review more than a couple of years ago yet the exact same bugs persist. This is the thing with Readdle: they keep asking for bug reports and then say they’re working on fixes, but clearly that is not the case with Spark or with any of their apps. Lowered to 2 stars until they actually fix the bugs. Also, please don’t tell me to reach out and email you because I’ve done that several times, always to get this ridiculous steps I need to take to send the bug reports. Fix your apps. Original: Spark offers some nice features for users looking for a different email experience. However, it has a few nasty bugs, one of which is when you send an email and close the app, only to get a notification that the email didn't send and that you have to re-open the app. In addition, the badge counter sometimes is off. I hope they fix the bugs because it's a great free app. That said, I suspect it will go freemium very soon.

A lesson in how not to roll out a new overhaul.. Please bring back the calendar viewer on desktop. I’ve been a power user and evangelist for Spark for over five years. Their seamless calendar integration, freemium pricing model, signature sync, and smart inbox have been the gold standard for mail apps since 2018. Upon news today of the new redesign, I was so excited! The old design had remained unchanged since I started using it, and I was excited for the beautiful new refresh with new features. I was even willing to pay yearly for the app if it meant we could have more product development and better features. However, as of today, I am done with Spark… The updated app (looks beautiful) removed calendar integration on the desktop, which was mission-critical to me. Additionally, the free-to-use model I am in adds a “Sent with Spark” to all of my email signatures (I have 12 inboxes), and now the pay-to-use model doesn’t let me upgrade on a desktop (it freezes), nor does it honor my existing account. This isn't how you roll out a wide-scale app release. It’s clear that little testing and no concern for user experience was considered in this update.

5 Star App Again. Spark has been my go-to iPad app for years. I prefer to sort through email with Spark on my iPad than through any other method (various apps across all my Apple devices). The way it automatically sorts them, not only by my multiple email accounts, but also by type (ie, people, notifications, newsletters, pins, seen, etc) makes it easy for me to get done what needs to be done. At one point I dropped it down to 4 stars because of an annoying bug where there were blank spots in my email list on the left and I had no idea if emails were being deleted or moved to “seen” or what happened to them. This makes it hard to fly through spam control and save important emails for later. I sent support an email, they quickly replied with instructions on how to help them track down the bug (screenshots, how to do log report, etc). They replied and said the devs were able to isolate the problem and it would be fixed. Today I received an email from them that the bug was in fact fixed and to test it. After a vigorous testing session it indeed was fixed and I replied to them letting them know all was well. I’d give 5+ stars if possible because not only is the app great but their support is also great. Keep up the good work Readdle!

Great app, just one thing.... I previously rated this app 4 stars, but lately I can barely even open my emails. It takes FOREVER just to load a single email, and it does that with each and every email I try to open. I’m using an iPhone 10 on WiFi, and no other apps are lagging, so I know it’s something with the app from when they updated, because it’s been like this for a while now. Please fix, I’ve been using this app for almost three years now but I can’t deal with this much longer. Previous review: I started using this app for my email and got my boss onto it as well. We both love it because with us being entrepreneurs it helps us to declutter the day and group things much more effectively. The one thing we've noticed however are we don't seem to get the notifications for our emails as easily. I'm not sure if Spark is just not pulling the data enough or what, but even when we do get the notification I can barely hear it with my sound all the way up. We both noticed we've been late on responding to emails because of this issue. Overall I love it and will continue to use it but I hope they try and find a way to make it easier for us to see our notifications.

I love it!. I'm amazed to see the number of negative reviews the past few weeks. Clearly people are having issues, but my experience is 180° opposite. For me, the new Spark is fantastic. There may have been a crash or two, I'm not sure, but otherwise zero trouble. Spark on iPhone now mirrors the new Spark Desktop app on Mac which has transformed my email experience — and I've tried almost all the alternative apps. The new Spark UI is definitely different and takes a moment to get used to, but it's so clean and minimal. Most powerful for me is the 'Gateway' feature. Unsubscribing to emails rarely seems to work, but Spark's 'Gateway' feature gets rid of unwanted email with a simple click and keeps it away. My inbox no longer floods with junk. And you can change your mind later if you decide you want something after all. I've found Readdle very responsive and open to suggestions. The new Spark still needs to restore some missing features from the previous version, but this is a really solid app & getting better. I love it!

Great Way to Manage Email. Your decision to penalize an entire nation based on information that could possibly be incorrect due to our terrible news reporting system in the US, it’s detestable and shameful on your part. You are a company that delivers a service not opinions. Your opinions on political issues are not warranted and should not be displayed in this area. This was a bad move by you. I respect your feelings regarding family and friends stuck over in Ukraine and their safety. I reread my review and although asked to change my review, I stand behind my words yet I have taken some words out and raised the star rating. I have always liked this app as a great email app for years that I have been using it. Plus, just last week you contacted me regarding an issue I had months ago. You emailed me to let me know that the recent Spark update had also fixed that problem! I was so happy that I was remembered in this issue. Now that’s a good customer service company. I was only going to raise you to 3 stars but this recent development added another causing you to get the more comfortable 4 star rating!! Congratulations! You earned it!

Sparks My Mailbox.... I have used spark for over two years now and it helps me a great deal with being organized. The features are awesome. I had never thought about how convenient it is to snooze an email and re-schedule it or to transfer it to my to-do list. Since a couple of updates, however, I am increasingly dissatisfied with three major thing that occur: 1) Spark always crashes when I try to open it from the “notifications” menu. So I can’t open the email from there. 2) Whenever I want to open a received file in an email, spark wants to prepare the download. But then, it never opens it. It’s annoying because when I reopen the app, it works. 3) When sending an email, spark needs to stay open. If I close the app after sending it, spark is not able to process the email further, ao it just stays in the outbox. I realize this is a minir problem but it happened to me a couple of times and it’s just annoying. So: three stars, with potential for 5 because I love the way the app is designed and I use the scanner program as well and the apps work very well together. But this is disappointing.

Oh boy. So I am a Mac “power user” (over 20 years on multiple Apple devices). I have been looking for a replacement app for Googles gmail app (I trust Alphabet about as far as I can throw their corporate headquarters!!!) So here ya go…the desk top version of Spark is about as easy to use and easy on the eyes as one can possibly get…LOVE IT!!! It is clean, attractive and easy to use/understand. The mobile app??? Yeah not so much! The appearance is nice but figuring out how to use it is like trying to teach your kitchen table partical physics. Seriously! I have 20+ years using Mac’s and over 10 years on iPhone and figuring out this (while good looking UI) is less easy the solving a rubicon cube blindfolded on a rollar coaster…what “inbox am I actually viewing? (And NO the displayed inbox isn’t always what you’re looking at…where are my recently received messages? Um, who knows. When I mark a specific message as a certain designation where does it go? When I delete “folders (either in the desk top version or desktop version of gmail) why do they still show up in the mobile app? The desktop version of Spark is ABSOLUTELY SUBLIME! The iOS version…Garbage

Great interface, frustrating flaws. I love Spark’s design, swiping interface, and the way it groups emails by People, Newsletters, Seen, etc. But I’ve started to lose faith in it showing me what I need to see, which feels like a dealbreaker: Notifications *usually* seem to come through, except when they don’t. Lately, clicking a notification crashes the app rather than opening. If I use the notification actions to delete right from the notification, half the time the email is not deleted when I view Gmail in the browser. The hardest thing for me is search- it just doesn’t find everything. In particular, it feels like it never finds anything that was archived in Outlook. Or it’ll show only the most recent email in a thread with no way to see the full chain. I don’t want to use the Outlook app, but I’ve been forced to sign in through the browser just to find emails… Lastly, this may be personal preference, but I hate the 5-second delay in sending… I’ve had a few emails not get sent bc I switched away from the app after banging out a quick email. I want to love Spark but am getting frustrated by the dependability of core features.

Warning - Spark changes mail access method to POP. ICLOUD is set up by Apple to be accessed using the IMAP protocol, which allows the user to access their email from multiple devices - like a Mac, iPhone, iPad - concurrently or serially. This program changed my access method to the POP protocol, which downloads new email to the current device and REMOVES IT FROM THE SERVER, downloading it to the current device. If you use Spark with multiple devices you will find yourself looking for messages on all of them as they will no longer be together like they were previously with IMAP. Yes, Spark has nice features, but I want to have my mail available on both of my Mac's, my iPhone, and my iPad's. For me this is a must-haver feature. If you only use one device for email, Spark may be a viable or preferred choice. I did not notice that Spark used POP until I deleted the APP it and pulled up Apple mail; I then saw that the mail I had received that day was GONE, and it was truly lost at that point! It had been stored inside the Spark app bundle and was deleted with the app. Spark should state that it uses POP in the product description! Restoring my Apple mail to use IMAP was a nuisance.

Update-crashes when opening. Latest review: The last two updates have made Spark crash and unusable on both my iPads. I’m sad to have to go back to Apple Mail. At first I thought that my old iPad (which I keep at one remote location) was too slow or old to keep working with Spark. But the latest update shut out my iPad Pro. Yes, I’ve restarted and all devices have the latest OS updates. I can’t trouble-shoot because it won’t stay open long enough for me to see what’s going on. Too bad because I was looking forward to the calendar feature. I already use Readdle’s Calendars 5 and like it. I’ll check in with updates every so often to see if there’s an update that gets along with my devices. Spark still works with my iPhone 6 and Apple Watch but I really prefer something that works on all my devices. Old review: Love it—seamless. Spark is seamless across all my devices including the Apple Watch. It's clean, attractive, and the user-customizable interface makes it MY email app so I can use it the way I think. AND get this, I had a question which was answered correctly the first time by a friendly app representative. The problem was me, not them--I forgot to fill something in. Five stars for this program.

Very good email app but Help section is bad. I can’t find anything on the new Smart 2.0 inbox. For example, the help section asks me to open Settings>Personalization >Smart Inbox. One problem. There is no such thing as Personalization under the settings section. Also the pictures shown are of the Smart inbox but I’m trying to use 2.0, I have some questions regarding what some of the buttons are for, and there is no help available for 2.0. I also did some online searches for this info and Smart inbox keeps showing me articles from 2018 when the original smart inbox was introduced. Under Customize your Smart Inbox It says this is October 14, 2022 but there is nothing for the Smart 2.0 inbox. It also says “ There are two types of Inbox in Spark: Classic and Smart” but you may have noticed that there are three choices. You need to start providing help content for the new one.

This App is Chat-GPT level useful. My various email accounts grew into the realm of unmanageability a long time ago. Before I got this application my inbox was nearly 60k unread and never a productive means of communication for me. Not only has this app allowed me to clear my inbox every single day, but it has allowed me to truly focus on the important stuff and completely deprioritize the fluff that was holding me back. I am truly grateful for this fantastic app you all have developed and cannot express how happy I am to use it on a daily basis. I got the guts to entirely delete the gmail app from my phone last week and never thought that would be possible before. Great work guys! Ps. Only thing I would LOVE to see happen would be the ability to remove my personal accounts from the client I have logged in to my work desktop. But to use the premium features and not have to pay for second subscription, I have to hide them from the unified inbox. Which is not a good idea but I prefer productivity over risk of my personal emails being read by tech support.

Post v2.0 Struggle. Prior to version 2.0 my rating was 4 stars. Spark is a solid app with a lot of great features that the native Mail app lacks. The Smart Inbox and notifications are great as well as the Snooze, scheduled delivery, bulk inbox actions, and app extensions. However, I have had a constant struggle with bugginess since the v2.0 release. Their support and dev team have been responsive and released several updates, but too many remain and more keep surfacing with each release. My exchange inboxes have stopped syncing across devices (even though they sync fine in Mail), emails show Subject details for other emails, Apple Watch app will not open anything, and sporadic ‘load message errors’ where messages will not display, among other issues. I experienced another eye opening quirk while traveling in an area with weaker connectivity where I could barely send or receive emails via Spark, while the native Mail app worked just fine. Apparently, your messages make an extra stop on Spark’s servers along the way where certain app features are executed. Privacy concerns aside, somehow the communication between the app and their servers is more prone to connectivity quality issues than the native Mail app. Back to Mail for me.

edit: they fixed the paywall issue!!!!. edit: they fixed the paywall issue and the latest update allows for existing users to remove the “sent with spark” tagline without needing to pay for the subscription!! I’m so so glad I can keep using Spark, I used the Mail app for a few days and was so unhappy with it’s functionality… so glad I checked these reviews to see that the dev was making an update! a million thanks!!! and I’d be happy to support Spark’s amazing work in some way if we could just set our own price… I just can’t afford $8/mo! —original review— I’ve been using spark for forever. I hate the apple mail app, but now am forced to go back to it because of spark’s monthly subscription scheme. I can’t stand the little “sent with spark” tagline at the end of every email. it was a great app, and I would’ve gladly paid for it as a one time fee to support their work, but not yet another monthly, and definitely not at that high of a price for a monthly…sorry and sad to have to leave it.

Paid huh?. Well I’ve been enjoying spark for years and loved it’s versatility and price tag. Along comes Spark Desktop and now the mobile app has Smart 2.0 and wants 60 bucks a year. I was tempted as I love the app, but I’ve made numerous donations to Ukraine and once to the suggestion of their support staff whom I asked how I could donate - it feels wrong to introduce new features that are basic features in other mail apps like “mute” in google, which I have to pay money for now? Spark had more features than any mail client back in the day by a LONG shot, and even though I feel like it’s more of a money grab than an R&D enhancement, today I succumbed to the yearly fee. I’m not one to really care for some of the newer features and layout options they are presenting - and feel I should speak with my wallet by not paying the yearly fee, but I do want to support them and hope by leaving a 4 star review that they will read that the interface is pretty outside my liking and to rethink things for a 3.0 release. It’s my daily driving mail app - even if it’s just on classic mode most often.

Make email great again!! 😂. Ok so I was very skeptical of another email app. I have way too many emails coming in and in the matter of a week I’m over run with over 500 emails I haven’t cleared. This is truly a game changer. The way it handles emails from real people or emails from applications or emails from newsletters, is...BRILLIANT!! I’m once again able to turn on email notifications but yet get notified on only the emails that matter. If I don’t like the default categorization of an email, I can change it or perhaps just make sure I get notifications from that particular email sender. The “snooze” button is amazing and now that I’ve started working with the team function, this has opened up a new world for my business and co-workers. Thanks for making such a great app. All the complaints about sync issues and other features not working properly are old reviews. Look at how amazing it it now and I bet those bad reviews would be much higher now if they tried the app again.

Used to Love Spark. I used to love Spark and recommended it to so many family members and friends who began using it as well. I was able to use the widget to preview my inbox (which was my main reason for getting it) and the intuitive design helped me stay on top of my emails for the first time. But the app continues to work less and less well for me :( At first it would log me out of email address #1 very infrequently. Then it began to happen more frequently until it was occurring at least weekly. I last reconnected this email address 4 days ago. Now, the app has disconnected me from all 3 email addresses I had on there and will not allow me to login using the right credentials (it worked online with them). Since I can no longer connect my email to Spark, nor be certain the connection will remain stable, I will be looking elsewhere for a new email app :( I’m actually sad because I loved Spark and loved showing it to different people but I need access to my email and only want to recommend products that work well to people who trust me. I hope these ongoing issues are resolved and thank you for the past year or so of service. I appreciated it and wish the developing team all the best!

Almost Perfect - Dark Mode Has A Long Way To Go. I love this, it helped me clear out thousands of irrelevant emails that have been haunting me for months. I love the search features and smart folders that let me combine folders from different emails together which was the main thing I wanted from an email client. But the dark mode is the worst of any of the half dozen or so email clients I’ve been experimenting with as part of a New Years resolution to get myself together when it comes to email. I didn’t realize how important dark mode was to me until I saw the results of how much battery it saves and now I think it might be a deal breaker for this app. I see most emails coming through as awkward bright white blocks against a dark background (not just newsletters, pretty much every single email I get which is just some plain text and a signature) and even when that doesn’t happen, black text almost never turns white against the dark background. It’s making dark mode difficult/awkward and the black mode practically unusable. I hope this gets better.

I really want to love this app, PLEASE READ SPARK!!’. I have been hunting for an email application for the last 18 nktnhs that would work well in my use case & had a unified inbox feature, as well as some of the other great features spark has. My main concern was having an app that worked well across platforms, I have a custom gaming pc, a MacBook Pro, iPad Pro & iPhone & I needed something that worked well for all those platforms; at first when I found spark they didn’t have a windows application but it said coming soon, I instantly became excited & started settling in on their platform with plans to use it & just wired patiently for the windows application. Now the windows application is fine, so is the MacBook Pro application for the most part, it’s the iPhone application I can’t stand anymore. 98% of the time I click out of the application it completely signs me out & i have to fully sign in & go through your guys annoyingly long startup menu that as far as I can tell has no way you can disable it. & as annoying as that was, right now just topped everything, I just tried 5 times in a row & it REFUSES to let me sign into my gmail account— AT ALL!!! So I guys I have to find another application till you guys can fix this? Since now I can’t even sign into my email account?

Has changed my outlook on email. THANK YOU!!!!! I’ve been using spark for a few weeks now and I’m in love. I knew what I wanted from an email client but I thought it didn’t exist. I wished I would’ve been using spark YEARS ago. So many emails were getting lost because of my lack of motivation for email and now I’m back in business. I’ve always wanted to be a zero inbox kind of person but the task was so overwhelming. Spark has made it easy and I’m much more focused. I love the snooze feature because before I sometimes needed time to think about a response but I inevitably the email got lost. I’m a business owner so I should respond to emails in a timely way so this has really helped me retain more clients and keep up with email tasks. This really helps me focus when I get interrupted with an email or just need a little more time to think about my response but don’t want to forget about responding (which is what use to happen!) I also love how I can schedule my emails to look more professional sending them more at “business hours”. Email use to be this scary and terrible thing that I had to do, now it really is fun and enjoyable.

Snooze is Broken. Spark is generally great, when it works. However, snooze is perpetually broken. In prior versions, large numbers of snoozed items would lose their snooze date and revert to “someday”, forcing a periodic review of the snoozed folder to ensure nothing had gone AWOL. Now, snoozed items randomly appear at the top of the inbox immediately after being snoozed, labeled with their correct snooze date, or randomly appear in the inbox based on their original unsnoozed date with no indication they were ever snoozed. The latter is particularly bad, as there’s no way to know when this happens other than to keep the inbox empty or to remember everything that was snoozed and to notice when emails don’t reappear on schedule; if I could do that, I wouldn’t need snooze in the first place. Spark typically works well enough and often enough that my periodic reviews of potentially less buggy alternatives always lead me back to Spark, but the continuing snooze bugs are very, very frustrating. The bug appears to be correlated with having multiple devices running Spark and possibly taking Spark out of the foreground on iOS or closing it on macOS without first forcing a synchronization. However, religiously forcing synchronization doesn’t make the problem go away entirely. Avoiding using Spark on iOS while it is open on macOS also seems to help, as does avoiding using Spark on multiple devices altogether. It’s almost certainly a multi-client synchronization bug of some type.

Many emails lost. Just confirmed its a Spark issue reading some reviews with similar situations. Many emails lost in a few months and some of them were in my inbox for years as records. There is an option to organize your inbox with notifications, newsletters and rest of emails. November 2022 realized some emails from notifications and newsletters were gone. Sent an email to support. At first they said it should be an issue with my Gmail account but finally accepted to check my case and shared some files with them showing the issue but never had a final answer. Few days ago ALL my notifications and newsletters were gone… Sent an email to support and same than before “should be a Gmail issue” “send us some files showing specific emails deleted”. Guys you perfectly know I’m not the only one having troubles with this. Already lost some important emails dont make me lose more time. Used to love Spark and suscribed to premium version as soon as was available but paid with money and many emails lost so I’m really disappointed at this time and looking for another email app that can rely on

Not the “best iOS mail client”. I was very interested in getting started with this app after reading how great it is in multiple blogs, only to be beyond disappointed within a minute after downloading it. I’m completely unable to setup an email using SMTP & IMAP settings, using what I know is working authentication/connection information. Then after sending my first email which was to their support team no less the app forces you into a tour of features and makes you do things you might not want to do in order to get through the tour, only for them to once again force you into another pitch screen for the paid premium service offering, now the 3rd time in the first 5 minutes of use. Can’t setup SMTP/IMAP connections and then you hijack my user experience to make yet another premium offering pitch to me that I have no way not to take part in until after I’ve been forced to go through your tour and see your 3rd premium offering pitch before I’ve even gotten a moment to experience the app. Hard pass, not the experience I’m looking for completely turned me off from the app and business itself, they’re clearly not focused on the user experience or first time user experience.

No support for a bad program update. I love spark “when it works”. When it doesn’t work like this latest update there is no where on their developer website to find out what is the problem. I come here and find out several other people are having similar buggy problems. Why is that? The only other way to get answers is through email which takes over a week to get a response and even then it provides no real support. Because I rely on email to keep my correspondence professional I can not use a program that is unreliable when it isn’t working. It creates problems that are problematic to those i communicate with. This is the second time in recent memory that a major update has failed miserably for Spark. Please fix and in the future please think about your users so we can get answers other better than complaining about them here. I may be forced to go back to using Mail or *gasp* outlook.

Almost there, but. The feature suits most of my needs; the interface is smooth and elegant. Spark has been a happier fit than Newton, which it replaced in my workflow and even than Mailbox, which Newton’s earlier incarnation replaced. I appreciate the coordination with Gmail labels, too, though that could be more robust. The two shortcomings that most affect me were both noted to the developers long ago. First, there is no starring system, only pinning. Pinning isn’t practical for more than a few items at a time else the folder becomes burdened with clutter. Starring makes it easier to find archived information when needed, without having to sift through dozens of emails containing similar subject matter. But the major nuisance is the storage bloat. It periodically creeps up to nearly a gigabyte in size, and the only way to clear the cache is to delete and reinstall the app. That in turn means signing back in to an assortment of other apps that are linked to Spark. Since I’m a digital artist, my iPad is chronically short on space as it is. A way to clear the cache from within the app would be most welcome.

Great app. Clocks a bit though.... I really like Spark. In particular, the smart Inbox feature is amazing. You can review your mail and then pin anything that is important to go back to later. This creates a good buffer system for items requiring additional action while letting you clean out your inbox quickly and effectively. Additionally, it identifies newsletters and displays those separately so you can mark them as read 5 at a time. My only gripe is that it pops up a message on my phone about a new email and then when I go into the app to actually read the message it clocks for sometimes a minute or more before displaying. A suggestion for further improvement would be to add custom or additional selections to “Pin”. For example, it would be great if I could categorize messages as needing a phone call, email, or research. These could be grouped into separate sections, just like pinned items and would prove an easy way to, for example, know who to call first when time permits.

I like this... mostly. Since my beloved gmail app turned sour, I’ve tried so many email apps for my phone. This one has some handy features, I like being able to view all of my new mail across multiple email addresses, it’s still sorted in handy categories. Customizable swipes, sharing features, it’s all great! The layout is simple and straightforward. My main complaint: if you’re a super multitasker like I am, every second counts, so the lag when I open this app, is annoying. If my mail is pushed, why do I have to wait for my inbox to update? If I don’t remember to wait for the app to load the newest messages.... that means the message I thought I was clicking is not the newest anymore and has been shuffled out of view and now I have clicked an irrelevant newer message and have to go back to my inbox to scroll to find what I’m looking for. It’s that frustrating feeling like I’m not clicking fast enough. Is it a deal breaker, no. But it’s annoying when you have limited time during the day to check email and now have to remember to mark the accidental email as unread so you remember to deal with it later. Not efficient for me... but I’m sure my issue is probably irrelevant to most.

Oh how the mighty have fallen!. Spark wasn’t perfect, but aside from the few bugs, it was the best cross-platform mail app out there. CS was always helpful in fixing issues if one came up. The 3.0 update took a stable, award-winning app and destroyed it. Subscriptions? Mandatory footer text? And removing features from the desktop version on a “promise” they’ll be added later (I’m not going to bet on a promise - see Cyberpunk 2077 or No Mans Sky). And why did we have to rename “archive” to “done?” Everyone knows what archive means - it’s just adding unnecessary confusion! I’d happily pay a one-time fee for Spark - and I’m happy to pay for good software - if it was feature-complete. But the fact of the matter is Apple’s own mail app, while not as pretty, and short a few features, has come a long way, and can now serve the needs of most people. Other third party apps serve the basic level of functionality desired without shoving a subscription down your throat. As such, there’s zero reason for me to continue using Spark any longer. I wish Readdle luck in their “productivity vision,” but the problem is most people just want to read their email, and it’s an absurd waste of development time when you can’t provide a standard inbox experience.

Loved it from day one of inception. The day I was contacted and introduced to Spark I became completely enthralled with it. I made several folders and became organized fairly quick. In fact, I ditched Gmail, Apple Mail to go with Spark only. The one problem that has occurred, Spark became better with a much needed upgrade to block unwanted spam mails. The problem is, the cost. I am operating on a tight, almost no budget. Extra income is coming from various sources in which I need to keep junk out of emails to see immediately the important ones that come in. I had truly wished, since I was first contacted to try Spark by the company, that I would be able to take advantage of these extras without cost. And then promote to others of how great it works. Other than that I would have given 5 Stars. I do understand the need for companies to make money, I do, but I finally must try to find something else similar to Outlook to use. In conclusion you have made a great email service.

This app has changed the way I deal with email.. I used to always feel the need to get my inbox down to having zero unread emails, going through each one (however unimportant) and deciding whether or not to sort it into a folder, keep it in my inbox, or delete it, and going through my emails became a big way for me to procrastinate and waste time. I now use Spark across all my devices, and I love that there isn’t that little red bubble displaying how many unread emails I have in the corner of the app icon – my “email anxiety” has pretty much disappeared :) I love how easy it is to scan through multiple emails at a time, and the search function is great (accurate and super fast). The only (very small) thing I wish were different is that I would like to be able to more easily permanently change if a certain type of email from a company or organization is specifically a Newsletter or a Notification, and that the system could learn from my preferences and improve how it organizes my incoming emails. But overall, fantastic and beautifully designed app.

Don’t Fix What isn’t Broken. Honestly, I wanted to support the old app but there wasn’t a way that I was aware to do it. Now I’m flooded with messaging about paying and honestly I’m not really interested at this moment. What’s with all the tutorial messaging that can’t be dismissed? It’s massively irritating. If you’re showing me something that’s great, but then don’t make the message stay unless I do what you’re showing me, allow me to dismiss it if I want. I’m in the middle of doing other things and want to work. The apps purpose before anything else is to help me accomplish it’s purpose… EMAIL. If you're going to block that with tutorials and messages that I’m not interested in then the app doesn’t help it hinders. If you want users to buy into a new application idea then make it as non-abrasive as possible. Also here’s another idea …maybe get input from the community that you claim to be so thankful for. Update: I removed my data and then went to get setup again and you can’t even use this app without subscribing to a 60 or 70 dollar a year plan. Then if you do all the stuff I mentioned previously still stands. I’ve removed all Spark installs I have and won’t use this program anymore. Also here’s another idea, stick to email I don’t care about your politics.

I won’t even lie it’s better than Gmail. So I started using Spark for work as they required me to use it for emails. I eventually ended up leaving that job and I still use spark! It wasn’t Until I got a computer(I only use spark on my phone) and realized that emailing in general just felt so off without spark 🤣. Easy to use, very nice looking, highly accessible and clutter free. I think the main point is how it categorizes everything in a unique way. There is also a “erase page” feature so you can erase every email on a page instead of having to manually click one at a time. It just feels scores more smoother and responsive compared to other emailing services including gmail! I 100% recommend Spark ESPECIALLY if you are in college. God does this app make schooling a lot easier. I also see some reviews about spam being an issue and not being handled properly by the app and from my experience I haven’t had an issue with that but it seems many have so I’m sure it is an issue. I also haven’t had an issue with being logged out randomly or not getting emails. I’ve used it for 2 and a half years so I can’t really say anything on those points and it’s hard to say if it’s actually a spark issue or something wrong with a persons device. I personally have had 0 issues with the app.

I Love This App. I’ve pretty much tried all of the email apps for iOS and while I use google business in chrome with a lot of plugins on my desktop, this is my new go to mobile email productivity booster. I was a long time user of Newton but when they “shut” it down I switched to Spark. It has enough features that I can duplicate much of my workflow from Gmail on Chrome. There is a subscription component but that is basically for teams and collaboration not for the email component. The basic free subscription to those features is enough for me but if I can get more of my team using this, I wouldn’t have a problem upgrading to the paid tier. At first I thought, “why would I want to take communication out of the email channel” but it actually works. I can pin the email, collaborate on the question/task without the noise of email. Think of it at a basic level like a Slack channel built into the email. I was over moving to a mobile email app and having the product discontinued or acquired (yes, I’m talking about you Mailbox). Readdle isn’t a one trick pony and has a broad app ecosystem. Needless to say, I highly recommend this app.

Good, but can be more reliable. The idea is great and the app usually works fine. However, when you schedule a message to be sent and you define some bcc for it, the app automatically removes the bcc list from your email once sent! You will have no clue to prove that you sent your email as bcc to some people! Besides, if you create a draft in your email on its original platform, say on Yahoo(I tested with Yahoo) or on some other third party apps like Apple Mail app, then you come to Spark in the same email address and in the draft, you expect to see the exact same draft with the same text, formatting, subject and list of recipients and bccs, but Spark changes it sometimes! I still have no idea why and with which logic! For example, sometimes a part of subject is missing or some email addresses in the recipients are missing or the font name or size gets modified!!! Overall while the app is good, but I really cannot trust it and most of time, working with these features are very unreliable and thus stressful when you want to send a neat email to a group of people. I cannot be sure that Spark won’t mess up with my email and always need to have another email app to use for official important and neat emails. Spark is not stable and reliable enough yet, unfortunately!

It is very functional and organize. The application make me do my searches easy including using the filters to see the most interest, yes.., but when participating on live auction everything happens to fast on the last seconds that the process just make me be disorient and also something goes wrong with the time that I was out for near 5 minutes. The watch list is good, but not manage it. Removing items that are group by any of the tags suggested just make the watching list to return to the original stage reloading, what’s probably necessary, but uncomfortable. Finally, what makes me feel real bad of its is the reloading when you return back to it after changing for another iPhone apps or from lock screen. It just reload on its default home screen, which may be correct, but I lost what was looking before. Yes return to watched items may resolve the problem, but always. I am sorry, to put all of this here, it should goes to customer support or another place, but not sure where. Don’t get me wrong, I use it a lot.

You have broken what did not need fixing.. After several years of using Spark exclusively across all my devices, I have uninstalled the app and gone back to Gmail. Just admitting to this in writing makes me throw up in my mouth a little. I do not support the software rental model and this update is a perfect example why. It makes developers lazy and stifles innovation. Instead of paywalling features that were already available under the previous version, washing the apps UI a bit and hope to milk everyone’s money for life, why don’t you start by doing a little research as to what your users actually want, develop THOSE features and give everyone the option to stay with version 1, make version 2 available as a separate app for a set fee and make cloud services available as optional in-app purchase WITHOUT any pop ups or inactive features that trigger anoying upgrade reminders every time you touch them. I’m not even going to get into the desktop version here. All I’ll say who ever thought it would be a slick idea to replace mouse gestures with keyboard shortcuts needs to change careers and be banned from coding for life.

Superior Email Experience. I rarely leave reviews, but Spark simply blew away my expectations. Email is no longer something that happens to me but rather a process that I fully control. I’ve tried nearly every major email app (including Outlook add-ons), but Spark was a clear winner. As a project manager, I was struggling to keep my email organized, particularly in regard to following up when my clients did not respond. Spark provides the best platform for this tracking. As a bonus, I have a better mobile email experience than Outlook. The design feels so thoughtfully created, almost making the email experience fun. The calendar functionality compared to Outlook is very lacking (no availability view, limited Zoom integration, no week view on mobile), but that’s not a big deal as the email experience is so great. I found that the best setup for me is Spark for email and Fantastical for calendar/reminders, allowing me to fully replace Outlook and work much more efficiently.

The best mail app by far! But...... Okay this is in fact one of the best email apps out there! I love the grouping of the emails by category and how it allows you to delete those emails with one swipe. Especially comes in handy when I get the newsletters with all these deals and sales from retailers and just want to get rid of them quickly. The UI is great, the ability to write up an email and have it sent at a predetermined time is fantastic, but best of all, the Snooze feature is awesome. Yeah I know that many other email apps do it but Spark does it better.... My ONLY COMPLAINT isn’t really a complaint. It’s literally the OCD in me. I hope I don’t sound picky but... when I read all my emails and exit the app, the badge number still shows I have unread mail. I go back into the app, see no emails, back out a second time and THEN the badge is gone. This app is a 9.8/10 for me. And I promise it’d be a 10/10 if that gets fixed :) still one of the best email apps... if not THE best

The Future of Email…or is it?. I really want to love this application and be satisfied with it but I just can’t and I’m not. There are some features missing that I would expect to have if I am paying monthly for something. For starters, a better way to block (and keep blocked) spam emails, or at least have what we mark as spam go straight to the spam folder, rather than continuously come into the inbox. An option to block the domain and/or email address would be great as an addition or even in lieu of. I have used two other apps for my email and they blew Spark out of the water when it came to that. Unfortunately, they didn’t fare too well in other areas but I would rather have better security than AI integration for writing emails, but that’s me. Also, it seems to struggle syncing between my devices (I’ll have an email on one device, that’s new and hasn’t been looked at, and I’ll go to another device and open the app and once it’s loaded, that email is not even listed there). I have missed out on some very important emails because of this. It’s lagging more now as well. Not sure what’s going on. I’ll wait a little while longer to see what Spark comes up with but if they can’t/won’t do anything about that, then I’ll be forced to move to a different app.

BEST mail app, I LOVE it!. As many have stated, I was also a mailbox user and I was very disappointed at the Dropbox decision to drop the best mail app created. I was pleasantly surprised to see this app, but the biggest flaw I have noticed so far is that it cannot open a password protected excel doc. I like the swipes, the signatures, the snooze, the price, the look and feel, most things, but as others have mentioned there are some flaws that need to be addressed. Over the native app it has the snooze which is crucial to me. Please keep making improvements, I've looked though some of the future development and it looks like it is going to be very good, but don't forget about basic email functionality. EDIT: After using spark for awhile now I do like it but it has some really annoying features. For instance, when I download the images of a Google news alert, spark only renders the visible screen and you cannot scroll around to see the rest of the message. I see this with many html messages. This should work as a going in argument when releasing an email app in today's world. EDIT 2: They have fixed the html annoyances, the html rendering is flawless and smooth, it now rotates to landscape & portrait. I LOVE this app. Probably the best mail reader out there, it has surpassed mailbox by far!

So many great things about spark, but.... Unfortunately, it has happened again where I inadvertently deleted an entire thread when all I wanted was to delete an individual email. This time, though, it occurred far back enough where I couldn’t find the email I was searching for in the deleted items. There are a lot of things I really like about Spark, so I hope your dev team addresses at least these two very important feature requests: namely, fully-featured search capabilities, and the ability to archive/move individual emails even when they are part of a thread. I have submitted these feature requests, and have been told they will be addressed. Also, lots of issues with iCloud calendar integration, but that’s not a deal-breaker for me, as is it’s not business critical. However, for now, I can’t afford to wait for Readdle to make these changes while I keep using this as my main email client. I will need to migrate to a different client. I am on the Readdle mailing list; please keep me informed of Spark’s development. I hope I can get back on it soon.

Love and hate it. I know only about two iOS email clients which support Evernote integration. Spark and airmail. Airmail doesn’t even display my work exchange mails and spark seems to have overall the better features. That is IF it decides to work. I deleted my email account numerous times and even deleted all data with spark and registered from scratch 4-5 times. Which is by the way the official support answer lol. Either emails cannot be sent, or the email body has a load error, or the calendar doesn’t work. Lastly I had an global calendar usage exceeded even though I am only messing with my gmail and exchange which on occasion works. When it works it’s fantastic. Then next morning suddenly my exchange account is simply not present anymore go figure.... I would pay for this (one time not subscription please) to eliminate the bugs. How the company can pull a subscription model off is beyond me considering all the bugs. Of I make the math of what a team would end up costing via subscription there should be almost no bugs here and if there are some they should be resolved quickly. This seems not the case unfortunately. Well I’ll keep searching for an alternative and maybe try another update later.

Spark was great - now it’s not. I’ve used Spark for the past 3 years. I have 5 e-mail addresses because I am a teacher at several schools and a law student. I turned to Spark to better organize my email. However, I now dread having to open the app every morning. My “flagged” emails are overflowing. My “seen” emails are overflowing. I can’t figure out how to unsubscribe from emails without having to physically go into each email to click “Unsubscribe”. The app does NOT sync between iPad, iPhone, and Mac which is frustrating because if you delete emails on your iPhone you can then expect to see them UNREAD when you check your email on your Mac. Email signatures that you create on your iPhone will not sync to your Mac or iPad. Also, if you do not use your iPad for a week (Spark installed) - you will be inundated with zombie emails that were replied to or deleted already. Additionally, there’s no option to create email lists/groups. This is frustrating because as a teacher I like to create email lists of my students. Aside from that my Smart folder is unorganized. Emails marked as spam still come through to my inbox. The added team features are just unnecessary bells and whistles. I’m in the process of transferring my emails to Edison Mail. Spark has become headache.

Real smart mail app. I’ve never wanted to install any other 3rd party mail app. But, I have a trust to readdle apps which didn’t failed. Spark is an owsome mail app, smart enough to recognise date info to add on calendar automatically. (Seemless workflow with calendars 5) I like the new mail alarm sound. Simple but most effective user interface. No longer need to travel between gmail-outlook-mail for any specific feature on their own mail. I’m happy to give 5 stars.

Best email client, period.. Wow where has Spark been all my life! Honestly, best mail client I’ve ever used and I’ve used a lot. I’m so impressed. Top 3 things. First, I legit only get notified when actual people email me nothing else (first app which has done this feature successfully). Second, I love how it splits up the inbox into different sections to separates the garbage from the actual emails I want to see! Like holiday photos from my family! Lastly, it’s just such a clean interface. It just works. And that’s amazing! So clean, fresh and works with dark mode! Only suggestion it would be nice to see a clearer spot for the reply button cause it took me like 10 minutes to find it 😂 but that could be my own silliness. But it’s great, best email client out there! All apps from Readdle are fantastic, worth the money for the brilliant quality you get! There is not another team of developers I could recommend more than these amazing people.

It’s like having an iPhone that doesn’t make phone calls. A number of great features and possibly the best email app available except it’s let down by how slow it is. More frequently than not you’ll know you have emails however it won’t download. It seems really hit and miss about whether it’ll download or not and it’s not related to the source nor the email size or network coverage. Big failure that’s been raised for a long time but the updates seem to focus on adding more features without addressing this basic problem. Not much use having all of this text formatting when you can’t actually get emails.

Nasty bug unresolved after more than 12 months.. Much as I would like to give this app 5 stars, I can’t because it had a nasty bug that results in emails from some sources arriving without content. Sadly one of the main organisations I communicate with is one of these. I reported the issue and sent tech data over a year ago and was advised it was a known problem that would be fixed, but sadly that hadn’t happened. The emails come through perfectly in outlook, mail and airmail. Subsequently I have needed to move reluctantly to Airmail which has similar features to Spark but appears bug free.

Security issues. Spark is Ukrainian based. With the war going on and the fact that US military, land and other intelligence operations have been operating out of Ukraine and their very sketchy privacy laws and protections, one could conclude that providing Spark with access to sweeping personal data is highly risky. No ways. UPDATE: Read the developer’s reply to the above. Do you see how they don’t specifically state that data is NOT shared with intelligence agencies nor how being Ukrainian based affects data protection or enforcement. Having them in a “cloud” does not prevent unsolicited access. And being legally located in Ukraine provides loopholes for access by certain interested parties. Ukraine does NOT have the resources or interest to pressure breaches or legal avenues.

Spark 3.0 is not good and I’m leaving used to be a great app!. I am sad. Finally you made it possible to block a sender like other apps do. I was about to swap cos I was sick of you not having a block button. I went to use it excitedly and you are charging people to get this basic email feature that is free on other apps. Why is everything about money? Stop trying to sell me premium features it is annoying. You will lose users over this. Can’t you make blocking free? It isn’t hard to do. Why charge for this? The spam on this app is still insane too and impossible to manage. Please save this app. I think it is good. Subscription model is very annoying, keeps trying to make me buy it. Let me check my emails in peace please. I don’t like the updated interface either. It is not great. The notifications for an email are now showing up like 30 mins after the email in already in my inbox. The subscription price is insanely high too. You will lose so many customers.

A recent problem has arisen. I’ve been using Spark for a long time. I try others but keep coming back to it. Recently a problem has arisen. I consume 90% of my email on my iPad and when I open a link from an email, the browser opens and I typically swipe back to Spark immediately to move to the next email before eventually heading back to the browser to review all the web links I’ve opened. Of late, when I return to Spark it is frozen, unresponsive to any interaction. Occasionally after 5 seconds it will start working again, more often than not it will restart on its own. It doesn’t happen all the time but most of the time and it’s getting annoying enough for me to consider other options. Beyond that it is a fantastic email client.

The worst email client I’ve used.. Switched to Spark from Apple mail. To start with it was fine, then the spam started and kept coming and coming and coming and coming. There is no spam filter. I tried adding the emails to block lists with my sever but it made no difference. I was getting over 500 spam mails a day. Then there were the little things like not being able to move folders. Why wouldn’t you give people the option to do something so simple? I hate how both read and unread emails were in bold text. Wouldn’t it make more sense to have unread in bold and read in normal? So many little annoyances that made me hate this email client. When I messaged the team about the issues I basically got told there was no plans to change anything. Well, that was enough for me to go back to Apple Mail and not get bombed with spam mail all day long. Don’t use this email client. It’s awful. It’s unintuitive and lacking basic features.

Good app - too many bugs that let it down. I love this app. A few critical bugs though that still haunt it, even after pointing it out in a review over 12 months. The cmnd+C function to copy text almost never works. I find myself going back and forth via email chains only to realise my text didn’t copy and I need to go back and ‘right click’ again. It seems minor but it’s frustrating enough to force me to use a different application. Will definitely be back if this is fixed.

Not what it used to be. I’ve had nothing but issues since the 3.0 update. There’s graphical glitches everywhere, marking all as read causes strange refreshes of the whole view instead of just marking the items as read. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app but it’s not fixed anything. All this plus the addition of the premium subscription model is making me look elsewhere.

Suddenly buggin. Please fix the bugs in the new update! Have never had an issue with this app until now. I can open the app but can not interact with my emails at all as it crashes! I dont want to change to any other app for my emails as this is the best i have found so far To add to this review. The latest update seems to have fixed the bugs which were crashing it! YAY 🎆 thank you!!

Did not expect to keep using this.... I've always preferred to use the stock app if possible, but with a very recent bug with Apple Mail in iOS 14 that resulted in my FROM aliases to be chosen seemingly at random, I had no choice but to try something else. Other mail apps don't do from-aliases well (including Outlook). Spark has really impressed me by keeping the experience very similar to Apple Mail, while providing some very convenient but subtle improvements. iOS 14.1 reportedly acknowledges the alias bug, but now I really find myself liking Spark! Some really convenient features include syncing all your accounts and changes between devices, showing tiny coloured markers next to mails from other accounts (I would normally never use the "all mail" view), saving a PDF of your mail, etc. I don't care about the team-oriented features, and this is still an improvement over Apple Mail!

With Spark I conquer my emails. I love this app. Before, I was drowning in promos, newsletters, notifications and couldn’t see the important emails. This left me feeling worried I was going to be bitten by something I missed. But there were so many emails it was a big job just to check my emails each day. I would unsubscribe but I still had tons. Spark changed that. I can now flick a switch and see the important emails from people I know. I can check and be up to date with the important and urgent things and read my other stuff at my leisure. I now respond quickly to things. I can quickly clear my inbox and delete emails I don’t have time to read or are not interested in. Notifications are deleted in groups. Yay! The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because it crashed on my iPad and I have had to delete it. :-( It still works on my phone. Thankfully. I would be very upset to lose it totally. Bottom line: life changing app! Thanks Spark.

Best email app + + +. Readdle has added even more features into this beautiful delight to use. As well as handling many types of email accounts, it gives access to secondary iCloud accounts without hassle. Feature-rich, customisable, intuitive. Choice of browsers and great sharing. Clear privacy principles. Quality in keeping with all Readdle apps. Desktop app equally wonderful. I would like to be able to turn off conversation view.

Too many emails, newsletters & spam. Spark mail has helped me so much in 2023. I started the year with more than 150,000 emails! Spark mail has changed that, newsletters are sorted under one heading, important emails in another and new contacts can be accepted or blocked! And now ai can summarise emails for you in a variety of detail. Unfortunately I won’t be able to renew my subscription in the new year due to money constraints. Thanks readdle x

Have to wait too long for emails to load. Readdle says that Apple Mail for iOS have access to certain API's that third party developers don't have access too and that's why Apple mail can load emails instantly and Spark cannot. But then I don't don't understand how I can see an entire email in a Spark notification with 3D touch but then I have to wait for that same email to load once I open the app. Also, the design isn't that great. Not bad, but I wish it was more like the Mac version. It's much prettier. But hey it's free right?

Was perfect, now it’s just mediocre. I’ve been using spark for years, it was my go-to mail app as I’ve despised all others I’ve tried. It’s UI, integration and features are second to none. I’m yet to find an app with features packed into an app like this. However, this app previously was a paid app with no subscription. Ever since they introduced their subscription model, my inbox has been packed with spam emails, emails I never got before - even on other email clients. I sent an email to support a month ago describing this issue - radio silence. I want to keep using the app but it’s unusable unless you pay its monthly fee. I’ve never subscribed to some of these mailing lists, so I suspect that I’m maybe getting subscribed or sent random spam emails to my main inbox just to coerce me into paying for their subscription.. The app is now free, and yes a subscription model brings in more income, their loyalty to their original user base is non existent. I paid for the app, now I’m being punished for not subscribing. Time to go back to the default iOS mail app, it doesn’t have near as many features as spark, but at least I don’t get ‘randomly subscribed’ to spam or newsletters.

letdown for me, back to the Mail app. As much as i’d love to say better this email let me down, i’m on an iPhone 7 and this email app is very ‘buggy’ while i’m typing an email around every 5 seconds it’ll freeze and i need to wait 3 seconds for it to come back and catch everything i was typing. I remember having a few issues on the desktop version too where it was changed the colour of my email and signature so the whole email was white and signature was black.. doesn’t look good when people receive an email they can’t read. Although i wish i could use another email app i’m going to stick with the original mail app. Disappointed.

Great all rounder email client for demanding needs. I've been using Spark for quite a few months now. I've found this to be quite easy to use and dependable - it displays the conversation threads beautifully so that it's easy to get the complete story quickly just scrolling up and down when one has only few moments to spare. The app can bring your multiple accounts in one place and can use a smart email box feature to filter out the important conversations for your convenience. Personally I have preferred to use the more conventional mailbox by mailbox view though but that was more of a personal preference. I used the pin function too so that I keep an eye on the important conversations. I specially liked one feature that was quite useful for me - it's the delayed delivery of your emails. I have used this extensively and it works like a charm. For my particular requirement, I don't want to send my recipients emails over the weekend however I generally clean up my inbox over the weekend (weekly review those of you are familiar with GTD). This feature is a lifesaver for me. Great job guys! Keep up the great work.

VERY FAST 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Still learning some options of the app so far but it is super, super fast on my iPad then both Gmail and Apple mail all using the same wifi connection. It has already downloaded the emails while the other two are still trying to do it. Hopefully it does not remove all my emails never to get them back without any warning like one of the others did. Yes I like it and recommend it and I have a few of this company’s apps and they are all winners and keepers.

Love love love but….. Outstanding work from the Spark team but can I make a little suggestion I would love to see a quick delete option. Where you can tick each email like in Apple mail & have an options button with delete all or other handy options for filing into user specific folders quickly. I find myself doing everything in spark except I jump to Apple mail just for the ease of deleting mail quickly. Other than that high five 🙌🏻 love it!

Good, just not great. Spark has been a goto for me for a long time. There are heaps of features that make it a fantastic app, one of the best. There is unfortunately one feature that will occasionally cause me to uninstall it and use something else, and that is when the badge shows you that you have unread email but when you open the app and there is nothing there. This is because you then have to refresh / download the new mail, something g other apps don't force you to do. It's only a small thing, but it frustrates me every time. If Spark would download unread emails so they are ready when I go into the app, then display the badge, I'd be giving it a 5 star rating.

Love this app, but there is one thing.. I have been using the Spark app for a couple years now and really love it. The best feature for me is the ability to snooze emails until a given date. The reason I can’t give it a 5 is that there is one thing I wish they would fix. That is the inability to view emails full screen while in landscape view. The email list takes up a third of the screen. I want the email list out of the way like portrait view. Other than that, 5 stars.

Great! One improvement.. Love the app! Use it everyday and it helps heaps. Only one small complaint/ area of improvement...... Having badges for the amount of unread emails in a folder of emails that are automatically directed there, (kind of like the way the Gmail app does it). This would be super helpful as I will often look at my list of folders to see which folders have emails and hence which ones I need to read/ which ones I need to check up on later.

Keeps getting better and better. I've been using Spark since v1 and it just keeps getting better and better. Best in class search, and the latest "Smart 2.0" way of organising the inbox makes it easier to deal with an insane amount of email across several accounts. I know this review is for the iOS version, but the v3 Desktop app is next level amazing, which makes the cross-device experience really nice whether I'm on my iPhone, iPad or laptop. As a free user for years, I've now decided to start paying for a subscription to support the developers. Looking forward to future updates!

This new version is far inferior than the previous. So much doesn’t work. Launching the new account wizard forces you into Google - you have to purposefully make an error in signing in to be able to go back to sign in with an Office 365 account. Office 365 accounts don’t cross-sync correctly between Mac and iPhone either - it actions it and then forgets overnight and reverts. The developers keep saying they haven’t removed features, but from a wide range of places I can’t export as a reminder anymore. The ability to do this exists, but there’s no clear or consistent way of doing it like there was the previous time so it may as well not be there. This new era for Spark was not ready for prime time. If Apple still allowed reviews to start new on each new release, this app would sit at around 1-2 stars easily. Get your act together, team.

Good, with a few glitches. I've tried a number of email clients and I always go back to Spark. It's got a ton of features however there are a few issues that need to be sorte: 1. On some occasions, the badge may display unread emails even though there are no unread emails. You will have to open the app, sync and then close it again 2. There is a significant lag when trying to look at new emails. Spark will notify you of new emails, however for some reason the email doesn't download until you open the app. Once the app is open, you will have to wait for anywhere from 30 seconds to a few minutes for it to download the new emails 3. I'm absolutely hating the new update with the layout of the cc/bcc option. It makes typing an email address very unintuitive

Great email client, horrible with threads. Spark is an awesome email client and I truly love its design and feature set, lets all the other competitors in the dust. However the deal-breaker is its thread handling. Emails are threaded (which is nice) bit any action you apply to an email (such as move or delete) is applied to the entire thread, with no ability to turn that function off. Bad if you want to delete a useless response, because it also moves your sent email into the trash, deleting pesky ‘out of office’ replies that you get when sending email to a mailing list, or just moving different responses to different folders. Hopefully they take feedback on that design in a future update and have at least the ability to turn off applying actions to entire threads, at that point I’ll be back.

I like it but ..... Spark has a lot of great features “gimmicks” that other programmes have, they are great addition to a base email programme. However, at it core - emails are not automatically pushed to your phone, you have to open the app to get them. Spark does not seem to work well with office 365, seems like a double sync process, once with outlook, and then with spark servers. I am also concerned about having my data on spark servers as well. Many times I have to shut down spark and restart the app to get emails. The text size cannot be adjusted. I have seen comments as far back as 2 years on this yet no option to adjust. Makes reading emails hard with out glasses, and impossible at night. I am not the only one on this. The iPad version is marginally better than the phone, I am windows based so I use outlook for desktop. The features are great, bu the core job of getting important emails has let me down on several occasions by not loading straight away or just too slow.

Cost of Living Crisis and another subscription?. I’ve been using Spark for years. You had different options available to you other than another subscription service. Subscription service fatigue is a real thing and all you’ve done is alienate a huge portion of your customer base. Whoever your product design lead is needs to be fired. You took a good app, a solid base, and made it a generic product like every other subscription service paywall. You’ve now got a small and diminishing customer base. And your auto reply of how things aren’t really different is only serving to further alienate your customer base. Disappointing! Additionally, forcing your existing customer base to pay for a subscription to REMOVE your “Sent with Spark” additional signature is just a tart move. Uninstalling.

Excellent email app!. Hey to the wonderful team working on Spark! You’ve done a magnificent job. Seriously. The sync feature is genius and it works smoothly with my iPad. Everything to reminders for certain emails that haven’t been replied to to undoing that email you accidentally sent... awesome. I do have one slightly issue that I’ve looked past because of how awesome and fluid this app is: In rare circumstances there seems to be a sync issue where emails will remain in the inbox as unread on my iPad, but they’re read on my iPhone. Of course I refresh the inbox and whatnot, but in the end it defeats me and I have to ‘read it’. Usually it’s just an email or two, but when it’s several because I haven’t looked at my iPad for a while, it’s just agonising to ‘read’ the emails already read on my iPhone! Otherwise, like I said, this app is incredible. Even with this teething issue that will one day be fixed (I hope!), I love it! Thanks again, appreciate your hard work and keep it up!

Pretty awesome app!. Great email app, it’s got great functionality and love the versatility with notification/badge counts, ideal for someone who may manage more than one inbox for work (or uses this app for both personal and work use). Gave it 4 stars because there were two features missing or needs improvement: 1. Provide the option to turn of conversation view (this is mainly personal preference) 2. The Apple Watch complication doesn’t seem to reflect the iPhone app’s badge settings. I have two inboxes I manage for work and I wish to only see a count on my watch for one of the inboxes. I turned off badge and notification for the other inbox but the Watch complication shows a count of unread emails for both inbox. No way to tweak that which is disappointing. Hopefully this can be implemented in the future and it’s not due to watchOS’s limitation. All in all, very good app. Thank you and keep the good work up.

Fantastic developer. I use their document app as the best file manager, pdf editor as the name says and now this spark as probably on par with my pc’s outlook .....Nevertheless it is a iOS app but it still much more elegant and capable than some crappy mail reader.....these developers sure know how to make an app....i am big fan of their document app more than anything....it has everything like video player, music player, pdf editing, browser, addons, icloud, gmail , one drive integration. I would love to have spark included in the document app as well....spark is good as a standalone app but i also want it in documents app ss well....Document is like what itunes used to be in Macbook....all in one....However, itunes was cluttered and sluggish but this app is so butter smooth

Slow to open and crashes while archiving. I manage three email accounts with moderately high email traffic. Spark will regularly give me a new notification but opening the app takes several seconds to fetch, update, and display the email list. Opening a notification directly will almost always display an blank email view and closing the view after 10 or 20 seconds will take me back to my last app forcing me to open Spark again and wait for the emails to be fetched again. Attempting to archive an email is a coin flip between whether it will succeed or crash the app. I can wait a few seconds after opening an email before archiving to improve the success rate but this is a slow process when I have 20 emails to read and file away. I like the managing my emails with Spark, but this experience could be dramatically improved with better performance and fewer interruptions to my workflow.

New Update Performance Issue. Guys, first off, I’m a die hard fan for all Readdle. Spark I’ve used since release across all devices; about 15 family wide. Myself I run about 50 email inboxes for projects and friends under test or management. This release I’ve noticed has a performance hit fairly substantially. Have you noticed? It’s on startup, taking up to 3 mins to populate the inboxes. This is just recent. My WiFi is 30-40Mbps so it’s not the culprit.

Very good app overall. A few bugs. Have been using this app since soon after the initial release. Overall it outperforms any other email client I have used for iOS, and is enjoyable to use. The layout and user interface work well, and updates have progressively improved the app (one recent example was the way emptying the deleted mail went from being a process with a prolonged continually refreshing icon (until complete), to an immediate process with background action from the server. The standout unique feature from my perspective is the predictive filing system, which automatically shows the most likely folders to choose from when moving items from the inbox to a folder. There is a bug with calendar events which extend beyond midnight - such as shift work - not displaying correctly (sometimes appear as two separate items in the wrong position on the calendar despite showing the correct time, or just displayed as all day events instead of correctly displaying as a time period). Still - having a combined calendar is useful.

Very capable email client. I’ve been searching for a good iOS email client for a while and tried a few. I still haven’t found what I feel is the ‘perfect’ one but Spark comes pretty close. It has an easy interface to use, it displays even complicated HTML messages without trouble, and sorting & searching is a breeze. My favourite feature is how easy it is to set up and use aliases - it mystifies me why other email clients make this complicated! My only complaint is the inability to edit SMTP settings of an existing connection; for example, to change servers or update a password. The only way to do this is to remove and re-add a connection (unless I’m missing something...). That’s what stops me from giving it 5 stars.

Useless for gmail labels. I received an email from Spark support about my review, encouraging me to submit a feature request. I’ve now done that; here it is. A number of features in Spark such as the app integration options make it a great choice for power users. However, I use at least 20 gmail rules with ‘skip inbox’ to divert almost all incoming mail to gmail labels/folders, effectively making them sub-inboxes. With both the gmail app and the Apple Mail app, I can quickly scan the label/folder list to see which ones have unread emails. Not with Spark, which currently makes it unusable for me. This use of rules gives me exact control. It evolved with the use of Google’s long retired Inbox app, and I imagine there are still many users out there with a similar approach. I have never felt comfortable with the growing trend of email apps that attempt to categorise emails automatically. Here is a feature description. As a power user of email, I want to be able to quickly identify gmail folders that contain unread messages without having to open up the folder (eg by hiding folders with no unread emails, or at least adding an unread email badge), so that I can treat them as sub-inboxes that receive mail via gmail rules. I hope you will consider adding this feature soon.

Exactly what I needed. I was very disappointed when Inbox left this world but luckily I found Spark. It’s a very powerful application and I am starting to love it (only used it for a week so far). It has so many customisation and I absolutely love it. Just one issue re push notification - when I get email notification and hard press it to delete/reply it - it actually try to load the full email which cause delay especially when I just like to delete the email. Some people will like this extended view of the email but some won’t. Perhaps a customisation should be offered in the setting so we can either have simple push notification (with sender, subject etc) or extended push notification with other details. Overall though, wonderful app - now will be installing on iPad and Mac :)

Best email app. Best email app, but new widgets are not updating, would be good to be able to see the new emails on the widget without having to open the app, widget only seems to update once you open the app... so I can see there are new messages on the app icon badge but widget on Home Screen says no messages, it only shows what the message is once I open the app to check the new messages, but then it's pointless to have the widget...

Great email app. I have been using Spark for about a year and have found it very good at handling a large number of email accounts easily. I currently have 12 email addresses set up and it manages them all well. I have been impressed with the fairly regular improvements over the last year, adding lots of new features. I like the easy customisation of the layout and that you can set up easy swipe options to quickly deal with emails. Overall I have been very pleased and will definitely continue to use.

annoying to use. only reason i use it is bc no other app does fetch notifications for gmail accounts, and i hate the gmail app. default view is all inboxes merged, no option to just choose a primary inbox. when mail sends, it has a like 5sec countdown timer, but even after waiting that time the mail never sends, and i always have to open the app again and wait again for it to send. no “mark as spam” button on notifications menu or when having an email open, in the inbox on-click menu theres tons of options for what to do w emails but i dont need most of them so its just confusing. would be good to be able to hide options i dont need, since we can already customise the menu in some areas. would prefer there to be a one-click way to select mail, my old mail app let you select mail by clicking the contact icons in the inbox. finally, when i want to use the menu for notifications by holding down, theres a long delay in the email opening into full view, which often makes me go to click a menu item only to end up opening the email. would be good to be able to turn off full view for notifications, especially as it’s badly cropped on the sides so i usually cant read it properly if i need the feature

Big annoying subscription push. I’ve been using the app for a very long time. After the big recent update and the push for a subscription model, we were told that old users can still have all the old features. Alas, the new mobile experience is terrible. More recently, after an update today, there’s an app walkthrough, again, that forced me to test out features that I already knew, no way to skip it, just to end with an invitation to subscribe. This is borderline harassment of loyal users that made the app what it is today. I am not subscribing to an email app, if you don’t want the free users, kick us out and go justify to your investors the shrinking market share.

Awesome mail app!. A great mail app that I really enjoy. Being able to snooze emails and use the snooze feature as a reminder for to-do list is really helpful. Also having the smart inbox to filter the “noise” of newsletter and advertising from my email accounts is helpful aswell. Anyone reading this far into my review should definitely download and use spark. And for business use the features look great but I don’t use that. Enjoy! :)

Functional but lacking. Like far too many iOS apps significant functionality is missing compared to the desktop version which contains features that make organising email very effective. The iPad version is clean and simple, but simple to a fault. It’s slow and cumbersome to label emails and archive them. The iPhone version is even worse in this regard. It brings next to nothing to the party. As many others have noted, the app is incredibly slow. iWatch functionlity is non-existent. When notified of an email, you have next to no chance of previewing it in a reasonable amount of time. The only reason I endure Spark is compared to most other GMail clients, it’s slightly less painful and annoying. If not for the desktop version, I simply wouldn’t bother.

Really good, but with some small tweaks would be amazing. This is a wonderful email client, but it’s missing a few things that I use a lot - Big pet peeve here: When opening PDFs, it bypasses the native iOS viewer, instead trying to sell you on their app PDF Expert, at USD $60 p/y. No way to change it. I need to annotate PDFs infrequently, so locking me to this method of annotation is a dealbreaker. - does not support Edge as a browser option - does not have options to route particular link types to your choice of app, like addresses to your chosen navigation app - it won’t open .pkPass files in Wallet like Apple Mail, Edison and Canary does - When viewing a contact, it doesn’t show a backlog of all mail from that person - no easy way to see all attachments from a particular contact - syncing of contact pictures only works for businesses, while Canary get images from all contact user accounts too I’ve downloaded again following the iOS 14 updates and the above is still valid.

Long time user, forced to leave after latest update. This app was fantastic, such a godsend. Since the last update which introduced spark premium, I couldn’t recommend it enough - made email so easy to manage. However since the update my emails no longer stay marked as read, the badge count is inaccurate, pins no longer work consistently (unpinning themselves after a few hours), and sent emails take hours to send (they stay stuck in the outbox for way too long). Spark, I want to continue to support your app, and I was considering subscribing to premium, but because of these issues in the free version I won’t and I will have to find another mail management app. If you ever fix these problems please send an email or notification to your users, as you could get some of them back. I’ll come back if these issues get fixed, (and you introduce the ability to be able to turn off email grouping when viewing a chain of emails). Thank you for making such a great app in the first place, but please go back to the previous version before the update! The whole app is essentially broken!

So many great features. Better than gmail app for gmail. There’s a lot of positives. Snooze is awesome I can’t imagine email without it but there’s one thing that’s been getting to me. The app is about 65MB but it uses close to 1000MB all up on my phone? Why? I have a 16GB iPhone and I’m really annoyed. Wish there was a clear cache button or some setting to choose from speed up search or use less space. I did not get why it needs to use up so much friggen space! Still a 5 star app even with this issue. Used mailbox before this and I doubted this app could become better but it has.

Good but not for everyday use. Spark is a great tool to go through large number of emails quickly in organised manner. It categorises emails automatically first so that you can tackle similar types at one go, and then also offers vastly customisable filters to nail your niche needs perfectly. However the biggest downfall for Spark is that it isn’t fast enough for everyday use. Spark can take sometimes up to few hours to realise there is a new email in inbox compared to other email clients. Also even if the app knows there are new emails by way of notification, for it will not download the contents of the email until user opens and refreshes inbox - which can take up to a minute of your time staring at the spinning wheel. Even afterwards, Spark will frequently fail retrieving the email contents and all I get is the title of the email. All these add up to highly frustrating experience if you want Spark to completely replace your previous email client.

Email Management Lifesaver. I have only been using Spark to manage my emails for the past 2 weeks but it has already proven its awesomeness so much so that I've already deleted Outlook from my phone! 🙌 I'm currently managing 6 email accounts with ease and look forward to seeing what new features are added in future. I'm even recommending it to my business friends which just shows how awesome this app really is! A+

Developers Don't Know Rule 1. The developers don't know rule #1... if you add a feature, you must add an option to disable it! There is no way to disable conversation threading, which I absolutely hate! When I submitted the feature request, I was told they have no intention of ever implementing an option to disable it. X! Wrong! The correct answer is “We will add it to the list of feature”. Other than threading, I really like this app, but can't deal with the threading. Every other app, including the stock app has an option to toggle threading. Who does Readdle think they are to say they have no plans to ever implement an option to disable it?! Will have to find a new mail app cause I can't deal with threading. EPIC CUSTOMER SERVICE FAIL!

Get back to Mail on iOS and macOS. This is not related to the new subscription, but the value of the new "Premium" features vs the cost of the subscription itself. It's expansive for what it offers. Also, on macOS, Electron is definitely not a good choice! Slow, heavy, memory usage and ugly new UI and poor UX. So, get back to Mail in my case, as well as a bunch of my co-workers. Sad to see what Spark became!

Parfait. Le pari est tenu : j’aime à nouveau consulter mes mails.

Last update wrecked a good thing. Well the last update forces a subscription of $60/yr if you don’t want a sent by spark signature on every email. Very sad they decided to wreck a good email app. I understand a small subscription fee but from free to $60 a year! That’s pure greed. I thought better of the company until now. Went from 5 stars to 1.

Used to be really good. I’ve been using spark for a few years and really enjoyed the service, however lately a lot of good features are being tied to the paid person. The spam filtering is terrible and you can’t block email addresses without the paid version so they just keep coming. Basically makes the app useless without having to filter through garbage multiple times a day. Too bad, use to love this app. Just going to switch to Gmail.

Slava Ukraini. Great app. Slava Ukraini!

No need for this much tracking in an email client. Bloated from the hockeySDK. Back to Apple mail. Big privacy concerns.

Used to love now the bugs are KILLING me. I used to love using this app, however recently im continuously being booted off. This entails me re-logging into all my accounts on spark reconnecting them to all my Google accounts and redoing all of my signatures I had previously set up. I also have to reconfigure all of my settings in this app that I established prior to. At first it only happened once and I was OK with it hoping was just a bug. But now it’s happened twice in two weeks. If this doesn’t get resolved I will no longer be using this app. I tried reaching out to customer service because I would love for these bags to be fixed so I can continue being an avid user. I just don’t have time for it. It’s suppose to simplify my life not complicate it. It’s also super hard to create folders and organize compared to just logging into my Google account and doing it there.

Terrible redesign. There’s almost a forced introduction to try and sign up for the paid option. On top of that, the delete , deletes email outside of its category

5 star email app but missing a great feature. A great email app with tons of features but I am missing snooze notifications feature. Outlook app has this but missing it here. Can developer's consider this request?

Night testing?? Glitch??. I absolutely loved this app for years until recently, through either a glitch or intention, spark used my phone all night long with the screen off and ruined my battery. Twice in the last week it’s “screen off” activity is being used for hours, and once in the wee hours of the morning. I have background app refresh turned off for all apps. Very disheartening. Back to Apple mail I guess.

Dark Mode. Now that IOS has updated 13 and all Apps should be following suit. Will give 5 stars when dark mode has been implemented. Come on and implement Dark Mode!

Slow slow slow since “2.0”. Almost unusable for me since the update that introduced the new paid features. Had zero issues before but now often 5+ seconds to go back and forth between inbox and a mail item.

I hate it. I LOVED spark until 3.0. 180 off a cliff. Please, please undo this horrendous change and take it back. Stop beating me over the head with endless, frustrating tutorials and a completely unintuitive step backward with the overall interface. It was great before and did NOT need to change.

Syncing between devices is unreliable. I had this app installed on both my iPad and iPhone and it used to work amazingly. Unfortunately, months back the syncing between devices started to not work properly. Essentially, one device would always be 100% perfectly inline with my Office 365 account but the other would have emails that were deleted or moved stuck in the inbox. These emails couldn’t be moved or deleted and the only way to fix this was to either sign out/in of the Spark service or delete and reinstall the app entirely. Reported this to their support team but never heard back, it was never fixed and several months later it’s still an issue. I have since deleted it and have been using the Outlook IOS app and/or the IOS Mail app. When this worked properly it was my favourite app but it’s been a real disappointment due to this issue. In a nutshell, if you use it only on one device it works great. If you are using it on multiple devices there’s a good chance it won’t stay in sync.

Used to be free…. Great app until they’ve decided to no longer make it free… back to gmail app I go. Edit: after the developer’s response I decided to look more into Spark. Seems like the core functions are all there. I will give it a shot for a while and see how it goes. It’s actually better than gmail, even a simple option to use white background while everything else is in dark mode on my phone. Even apple mail doesn’t allow that.

great features, but unreliable. its very slow to load messages and often has to be force quit to get back into a working state (pretty much daily)

Easily the best email app.. This is by far the best email app for iPhone and macOS. It has great exchange support which is mandatory for me to be using. Love it!

Ruined. This used to be the best email app on iOS and macOS but the new 3.0 update ruined it. Especially the macOS app which is unrecognizable from version 2.0.

Cool features but.... Can’t seem to eliminate the conversation view which I despise. Second, fonts don’t scale with iOS font scaling so very difficult to see the emails as composing. Gotta get that resolved.

Once Great App Turning Into Subscription Hell. No email app is worth paying an endless subscription (a onetime charge would be ok if it’s a really good product) and this once great email app is still useable but its developers have decided to prioritize their passive income streams over building and maintaining a user friendly email application. They’ve recently added “AI” something or other in an effort to extract even more money from their users and add more useless bloat to their app. Have been using Spark as my default email app for many years but if the devs keep aggressively pushing their ever expanding pay to play features (which I don’t need) and making the app an eyesore that only a subscription will remedy I will go back to Apple Mail.

Changes don’t sync. If I archive a message in this app it’s still in my inbox on webmail. If I send, it frequently tells me it’s sent but it hasn’t and I later have to open and go to the outbox and force it. This app is broken.

Update. This new update makes everything worse, this app don’t look good anymore. Harder to use and way less aesthetic than it used to be.

The Downfall of Spark. They’ve introduced a new version and now it is mandatory to display “Sent by Spark” to every email. Unfortunately, turning it off requires a subscription. So sad to see the most used app on the iPhone succumb to this treatment.

Bad email reply experience. It’s really frustrating that the email it chooses to default reply to a message with is not the email that received the message in the first place. I frequently find myself responding to emails from a different email than the sender is familiar with.

Lost its Spark 👎. Still rocking the previous version before the design overhaul, which is still fantastic. Refuse to update. Using until it breaks and then off to a different client. What an odd business decision to overhaul the design and introduce a subscription fee at the same time. If you’re new to Spark Google: “Spark redesign Reddit”

Missing Dark Mode. Add dark mode please. The Mac version has had it for over a year.

Thanks for the cancel culture. Refusing services because of origin is called racist. I don’t stand for Reedle stupid political cancel move on ordinary people. Who is killing people since 2014 in Ukraine? Your own government!

Used for years, time to switch. I've used spark for years, and I would have happily paid for it. But I'm not willing to pay 54 USD per year for an email app. Even with that said, I likely would have continued using the free tier indefinitely if it didn't actively make the app painful to use - these constant popups about "how to use" features I've either used for years or don't have access to are pretty obviously the worst UX I've come across in quite a while.

Was Good. It was good when I first got it but now they are forcing paid subscriptions making the app unusable. I have decided to delete it & find something else that doesn’t remind me to pay every time I go to check my mail.

Love the app!. I am noticing in the past two days the smart inbox isn't working. I hope you fix soon

Needs Improvement. First of all I hate the fact it doesn’t allow users to opt out of threading. Secondly, in my case when I know I don’t have emails or maybe a couple, when I open my iPhone Spark shows like 12 every time. When I touch it it clears all immediately, however, if I go out and back to it 12 shows up again!

Amazing before the 2.0 upgrade. This app was my go-to before the major upgrade. Not it’s almost unrecognizable: Slow on mobile, buggy on the desktop app (Mac). When I say slow, I mean it’s really, really slow. It would often take a couple of seconds (up to 10s) to load. I’m scare to even switch contexts because as soon as I switch to another app, then switch back to Spark, it freezes and then the logo screen shows up again (another couple seconds wait) and takes me back to the home screen of the app. It’s not just me, its the same on my wife’s phone.

Perfect before subscription introduction. I don’t mind paying for a subscription but they won’t even let you block people without one. It’s ridiculous.

Great, But…. No matter how many times I mark an email “Junk” or “Spam” it always comes back into my inbox. Really annoying.

Great app but. This is a great app but PLEASE enable unthreading. It should be up to the user to decide if they want to use it - and I don't, but can't disable it. Irritating. Otherwise great mail app.

Latest update is a deal breaker. The latest update aggressively tries to sell their premium features, to the point that I can’t send emails anymore without a ridiculous looking signature or I have to pay. Loved this app for years but I’m not interested in being forced into a premium subscription.

Used to be great. Used to be an awesome app, now ads for the pro version are everywhere.

Jumping on the band wagon. Forcing us to see a message to support Ukraine with a donation is just wrong… every tech company, and app is jumping on this band wagon. Maybe your investors are forcing you, but when an app becomes political… tomorrow they can shut your service down cause you didn’t comply! You just lost a customer.

Don’t Force Your Agenda. Supporting Ukraine is nice, and it’s the right side to take. But forcing your agenda is wrong. Changing the icon to express your agenda and not providing the option to change back is wrong. Shouting out loud simply because you can, is just like Russia. They invaded because they could. You are allowed to show composition and supports, but do it on your own channels, to the groups who love to care about your opinions. Be professional, don’t just be politically correct

Spam filter needs work. Love this email app but the spam filter needs more work. None of my junk mail gets filtered. I get so much daily junk email and wish it worked. Now I just delete the emails because it never learns anything. I am searching for a better app.

Wow!. This is the best mobile email tool I have ever used. I was looking for one that has better search ability than the Microsoft Outlook app I was using for some mail accounts on my iPhone. This has that and so much more. I wish I had tried it out a long time ago. Highly recommend. Thanks for the great app!

Spectacular spark!. I really like that merging email accounts is easy to do and all of your email shows up in one spot & you can tell what account it's from!

Reading emails is great. Replying, not so.. Not too sure why the keyboard lags like crazy.

Search is broken. The search feature is absolutely terrible in the app. Same with the desktop version.

Back to Apple Mail after years…. How I loved my Spark email client. UNTIL they ruined it with PUSH notifications to upgrade to a subscription model. Constant reminders, skewed interface in thrall to the upgrade, weird tabs of different tiers litter my UI… Why? Why not just keep our beloved free version as lean and clean as it once was and just create a separate Pro version? But no…so I find myself going back to Apple Mail. Such a wonderful app, down the tubes of monetization and bloat. Adios, amigos!

Too much subscription pushing. LOVED this app for years, now it’s been ruined by the constant subscription pushing for the pro version. Deleting this app and going back to the apple mail app or the email’s home app. B

Must lost their mind!. $9.99 a month! Is it a joke? Went back to outlook including conf call, 1TB storage, office apps all inclusive for $7 a month.

Read its privacy policy. Read its privacy policy. You’ll end up saying no to this app ... and will thank me later

Stand with Ukraine. That’s awesome to see you guys choose to change the icon to voice your support. Thank you!

2.0 is a great update!. I have been using Spark for several months and really like it both for iOS and Mac. My goal is to keep my email for transactional information only and clean it out as quickly as possible. Then I try keep information about projects. Including things sent through email, in a separate system where I can act on them according to my priorities instead of react to what comes in urgently in the inbox. I am using Evernote for that system. Evernote integration was terrific but the one thing missing was the ability to grab a link to an email conversation and put it in Evernote (or some other place for tracking projects). In 2.0 they added this feature and it is excellent! The addition of calendar is like icing on the cake. I have not figured out the use case for team collaboration on email but the other 2.0 features are terrific!

What is going on?. Loved spark and used it for years but have to walk away now. It keeps randomly (maybe after updates?) kicking me out of ALL 5 of my emails and I have to start loading them all from scratch again. Second time in a month today. Considering I use this on 4 different devices, this is a major pain and takes forever, meanwhile I miss out on emails. I’ll notice it hasn’t sent an email notification in a day or two (thinking it’s just a slow time) and find I’ve actually been logged out for who knows how long and people are waiting on me. I can’t do it anymore. I’ve also had random issues with ‘unable to send’ messages for no reason, having to resend multiple times, not actually sending anything from one of my emails and not telling me (?!?), and filtering problems, particularly with spam. Very sad about having to leave since I’ve loved the interface so much more than anything else I’ve found.

Loved this until I had to search. I was loving Spark (as all the excellent Readdle apps) until I needed to search. I was not finding messages I knew were in my email. After some research, I found Spark only searches all folder when using gmail. If you use other email, like Apple Mail, you have to specify each folder you want to search. As someone with many years of email and dozens of folders, I don’t always know exactly where a message is. I created the folders to organize, but sometimes, you may have a message that fits more than one category. Did I file that in receipts, or taxes? When I tried the same search in Apple Mail, it quickly found the message I was looking for. If this feature isn’t a big deal for you, Spark is great. But if you have a lot of folders and need a reliable search, Spark may not be a good choice (unless you use gmail.)

Love! One request!. Spark is a great tool for plowing through the piles of email. I can't imagine going back to life before it. I would however request one function that would allow me to specify exceptions from the bulk/newsletter grouping in the smart inbox. For example I'm on several committees that receive regular email updates. Spark sees those as "newsletters" and puts them in "newsletter" section -- 99% if which I wont read and will bulk swipe to delete. But because I need to read those that come from the committees, I have to comb through the "newsletter" group email by email and move those individually to the inbox before I can group delete all the rest that I don't want to read. This basically short circuits the best feature of Spark: the group swipe. If I could instruct Spark to treat certain specific sender addresses as "not newsletters" then I could save a bunch of time and effort. Thank you.

great so far, two requests. So far, this is better than the stock Apple mail app. It makes it so easy to go through various email quickly to clear my inbox or save ones for later. I like that you can easily work on multiple emails simultaneously (which the Apple app can do but is really buggy about, with drafts vanishing and needing to be re-opened). I have two requests for the developers that would surely be very simple to implement! 1. Please adjust how the swiping mechanism works when there are different functions assigned to short vs long swipes in a particular direction. I had short-left as Pin and long-left as Delete. I had to disable the Pin function because when I wanted to delete an email, if I moved my finger too fast, it would Pin it, even though I moved it the full long distance. 2. Please include a function to search for text *within* the specific email I’m viewing.

What an incredible app. EDIT: I really love this app but the new feature that adds “Sent with Spark” at the end of every new email is really starting to get annoying. You can’t turn it off unless you pay the monthly fee for premium. Really making me fall out of love with this app. I never thought emails could be so organized and satisfying! The team at spark has really made an outstanding app that I am forever grateful for how it has improved and simplified my work life. The only thing that I think might just be a bug is that sometimes when closing an email by swiping from left to right, instead of going back to the inbox, it just swipes to another email. I know there’s a setting to turn this off, but it doesn’t seem to work even when turned off.

I need a 2nd email app, but nothing matches this!. When I found Spark, I switched for good. It “learns” what folders I will move emails to based on previous moves. It’s clean, it’s beautiful, it keeps my Gmail accurate (whereas other Apple Mail and other programs have had delays when I delete and close the app — then the mail is there again when I open next time). Fast forward: I am using separate email for work and want to keep personal separate. (I find it’s a productivity thing: I’ll still check personal email from time to time but always checking work throughout the day. And I don’t want to be running through work email at night unless I chose to.) Because of awesome functionality (e.g. Spark has been the only email app I can find that allows me to BCC: a different email address for my CRM records) I need Spark as business — but now I am hating personal. The closest I found so far has been Edison, but I still get the delays I mentioned. Outlook was okay but I didn’t love the display, and outlook tags every contact in my phone that I don’t really like. Newtown is a pay model, so I haven’t experienced. Inbox has gaudy icons like Gmail. Astro is too unique and specialized to someone who wants that: I just want an email app as good as Spark. So.... as I keep slugging through, you can stop here and get the BEST email app for iPhone!

love this app. emails look great on here. gmail was feeling cluttered and confusing and this app has been a clean and refreshing take. (for some reason i cant ever find an email im looking for in gmail, it’s always buried in some random sub-section) I love that you’re able to customize the layout a bit and make the ui almost disappear while viewing an email. The default ios mail app is clean, but emails themselves are zoomed out and the ui bars take up way too much of the screen. The design of this app really stands out by reducing the clutter on the screen and allowing each email to fully utilize the screen. The only addition i’d love to see is some transparency effects in the ui, at least on the top bar while viewing an email. I think that’d make this app pretty much visually perfect. Thank you !! <3

One of the best. I think by now I’ve tried all the mail apps available on the App Store, but I keep coming back to Spark because there’s a fluidity and functionality about the way this app is designed that the others just haven’t achieved. My only complaint is that the badge notifications are not working for some reason. They’ve worked for me previously, but just stopped recently and I’m not sure why. I’ve checked my notification settings and they’re all turned on. Not a complaint so much as a suggestion, but one functionality I’d really like to see (that no mobile mail app seems to have) is the ability to forward another email as an attachment. I know I can save an email as a PDF and then attach that to whatever email I’m composing, but it’s a bit of a finicky workaround, and doesn’t give the receiving party the option to reply on the actual attachment.

Disappointed with new version but holding out hope. I’ve been using Spark for a number of years now. Every year or two I reevaluate other apps out there, but Spark is still the best cross-platform email app I’ve found, and I’ve stuck with them despite having several quirks and bugs that nobody’s been able to fix. The forcing of an advertising email signature on users is a disappointing non-negotiable for me and many, many others as indicated by other reviews. Developer review responses seem to indicate that was a mistake (whether intentional or not) and that they will be rolling that back for existing users. I’ll wait around for a little bit to see if they actually do roll that back; if they don’t within a month or two, I’ll be saying “goodbye” to Spark and moving elsewhere. At that point putting up with the quirks and forced advertising for the smart inbox features won’t be worth it.

Was the best, now it’s broken. Before the most recent updates, this was my favorite email app. Being able to triage messages quickly was super helpful. The snooze function was great. One of my favorite features was the button next to each category that allows one to quickly mark multiple messages as read with one tap. Now, the button for the newsletters section marks the notification messages as read. When I tap the same button for the notifications section, it also marks the notifications messages as read. From my perspective, this app is now broken. I simply can’t use it anymore since a core feature isn’t going to work as intended or expected. I am now going to delete the app. It’s too bad, as I was going to subscribe to the annual premium plan that was introduced. Now? I go back I’ll stick with Apple Mail, at least for now. It’s gotten a lot better anyway, and I can trust it to function correctly.

Airmail Refugee. I’ve used Airmail for the best part of six years and it just kept getting more and more tedious to work with. So, I went hunting and re-found Spark. If you’re an Airmail refugee and reading this right now, I’d take a good long look at Spark. I tried Spark a few times right after it was released, but at the time it was just too basic. Spark 2 is out, it’s free, so far it does what it says it’ll do and after fighting with Airmail for so long it’s a real breath of fresh air. FYI: I’ve only been using Spark for about two weeks now, but my email load is very heavy and if I’m going to break a particular email client I can usually get that done in a few days. So far, Spark has taken it all in stride. And, as you can see, it’s a supper expensive app 😁 Between Airmail and Spark I did take some time to retry Apple Mail, but it’s just too elementary by comparison to either Spark or Airmail. Honestly Spark does just about everything, if not everything, that Airmail tries to do - And, it’s free.

Brilliant but buggy. I really love the concept of spark and were spark is headed. I just don’t always love the reality. The integrations with Evernote and Trello are good for me when they work. Sometimes the things I’m sending to Evernote crasher don’t make it. Or they make it saying no because they were incomplete. Doesn’t make it very useful when that happens. Love it when it works, hate it when it doesn’t. I would love to be able to send multiple things to Trello or Evernote at the same time. But it’s one of the time right now. Finally I get emails stuck in my outbox that don’t get sent. It’s awful because the emails I intend to not reach the recipients and it causes problems for me. I mean seriously, I have all the settings right and it works just fine until it doesn’t. I love the smart inbox, I love the way that I can work in this application, but I just don’t love its execution yet. Willing to change my review as time unfolds and really hope that they’ll make the best of it

Readdle? Is That You?. • I own every app that Readdle has made. You can read about Spark’s features on your own in the description of the app. But until you use a Readdle product and interact with Readdle’s humans, you can’t experience how much Spark is invaluable tool that becomes part of your digital life. • This update...she confuses me. I’m pretty dumb, so that’s not difficult to do. I just notice my writing space decreasing and a lot of new collaboration features I’ve never used in any app appearing. Follow your research if that’s where it’s taking you! •Still a solid app though. Spark’s visual communication is excellent and makes searching intuitive. Just please don’t turn into an abomination like that other app that people once knew as Evernote. EverN is like a rash that won’t go away and keeps spreading everywhere. I have faith In you, Readdle! • If you’re using Agile development, PLEASE STOP! Agile is a cancer. With the exception of middle managers (the cult’s core membership) it crushes employees and “templates” everything so untalented mid-mgrs don’t have to actually manage people—just templates. The machine-like mind of Agile causes people to cleverly hide their mistakes, lest they hold up a Almighty Sprint! • Agile uses workers like Stalin used the young and old men of Russia—cannon fodder. • Please love your Readdle employees!

Best Email Program Available. I just love this app. I can keep track of all my email accounts in one place and manage them online in real time. So, once I file or delete an email, it automatically updates my accounts so when I access emails from a desktop application, I don’t have to duplicate my efforts. This app organizes emails in a very systematic manner, making reading emails easier to prioritize, read and respond. You can pin an email for later reference, schedule to read an email later, send emails on a schedule, identify spam easily and block further occurrences, and much, much more. I’ve tried many email apps before but this one is the best by far. If you have a busy schedule and need to streamline your email processing, I highly recommend this program. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

Good functionality, painfully slow sync. The syncing issue seems to be a recent one. I open Spark and can wait minutes before syncing is completed. For someone who wants an efficient email experience across devices this is not something I want to deal with. Developer initially asked that I remove my gmail account since that had been part of a known issue. I removed it, with no effect. So I added back my gmail account and removed my yahoo account, and suddenly the sync issue was gone. I communicated this to the developer and received a response that I interpreted as meaning that there was a known yahoo issue. I was told that they had to de-prioritize this issue since all attention was on upcoming release. It has been more than a month and I am on to another email program that is working well, and that does a good job of segregating important emails from other stuff. Maybe I will try Spark when there is a new release, but every day reduces my feeling of urgency to do so.

Excellent Potential!. I love this app... however, the basic features of an email app have not been focused on. As an app developer, I understand what it takes to do this and is not lost on me at all. There are a few key things that need to be addressed before the Spark team releases new features or paid plans. 1. Fix the search feature. Unless your search term is exactly what you need, the search won't return anything (including a message saying no results found). On the desktop side, trying to drag the cursor in the search field actually drags the entire app. Extremely frustrating. 2. Fix the notification issue. Notification badges stopped working for me and I have no way of fixing. The settings inside the app allow you to turn on the badges and notifications, but once I do, I get a message saying it's unsupported. 3. Add spam learning or filters. This is the most I've ever had to deal with spam mitigation. This shouldn't be a paid feature either. Again, the app is great and has so much potential but I'm willing to remove my account if it means a more efficient experience with email. Hoping the team takes this as constructive. Based on previous reviews that have ripped the app, I'm sure I'll get a basic response to email the dev support team. I've already done that (multiple times). Please spare me the patronizing response you have given others and just take action on what people are suggesting.

Great package!. Great how it groups mail by sender. Fresh look, easy to manage multiple accounts. Way better than other mail apps. Only to improvements I would like to see easy, male blocker to control spam and one or two clicks for deleting read mail, that's it! It’s hard to really come up with something that you don’t like about Spark. I was having trouble figuring out what they might be and read the comments above, I agree, mail blocker for controlling spam. I have a security system that sends me alert every time the sun goes behind a cloud. I can get 50 or 60 alert today and the mail delete feature from the smart inbox makes it a breeze. It’s fast almost, dummy proof and if you miss something, it’s not gone it’s in the trash file for a second look. Most of us Mac users appreciate all of the R&D Apple put into it, then you run into an app like this and think why did Apple think of that! Good job nice app.

“Sent from spark” tagline to force subscription. I have loved spark for a long time. They originally hooked me with the undo send and send later features. I just noticed that with the recent update they’re forcing you to upgrade to a paid subscription to remove the “sent from spark” tagline in your email signature. I definitely won’t be doing that especially now that the native Apple mail app has the above mentioned features. It’s so sad to see companies lose their core values over greed and start forcing trash like this on their customers. You will also notice in some of their developer responses on the App Store the damage control they are trying to do by asking people to directly email feedback to them trying to get people to stop posting bad reviews. Here’s a thought: people won’t post bad reviews if you don’t ruin your product by forcing subscription models. FYI. If this tagline trash goes away, I’ll be happy to edit my review and make it a 5 star and switch back to using spark. Until then, I’m switching somewhere else. I know I’m only one user, but it’s your move spark.

Can’t live without this app. I’ve tried many e-mail apps over the years and have been disappointed most of the time. And then by sheer luck I found Spark and decided to give it a try. It has been well over two years and I can say I’m absolutely addicted to this app. It can do things with my e-mail than no other app out there can. I wish there was a Spark desktop app - this is how much I liked it. The dev team is very good at responding to questions and fixing issues. I can finally enjoy my e-mail without being frustrated at managing it. I highly recommend that you give it a try. I also love their other app Calendar 5 - it has organized my calendars in a way that makes it so much easier to manage them while still being able to separate them, and the user interface is very intuitive. I highly recommend that app as well.

So frustratingly untrustworthy lately….. [Due to the developer’s response that they’re working on the problem, I’ve upped my rating to four stars and will check back in the future, as previously this was the best mail app!] I’ve used Spark for years after frustrations with other email apps, but lately snoozed emails have not always been coming back, and I’ve discovered that it changes many of them to “someday.” But going in my snoozed folder, suddenly I had pages and pages of emails marked as “someday” which shouldn’t even be in my snoozed folder. And recent work emails that I’ve snoozed for a day or two after clearing those others out, have now switched to “someday.” Using this app at the moment could get very, very expensive if the app is causing anyone to miss work. 3 stars for being a great app in the past, with hope it will become great in the future again (but for now I have to sadly try something else).

Bugs make this app unusable. Like others who have left critical reviews, I’ve been a happy Spark user for years. However, recent updates have introduced so many bugs I can no longer use the app to read email. Visual glitches when scrolling through my Gmail either show gaps where emails should be, and swiping to delete or mark as spam do not refresh the message list leaving weird banners across the screen. Since updating to iOS 13, notifications also do not work properly…clicking on a notification only clears it from the screen and does not open the message as it should. Uninstalling Spark and reinstalling does not help. This once was a great app, but the developers keep pushing out updates with “fixes” that only mess up basic functionality. It’s clear they are not bothering to address reported problems and are not testing their product before release. For now I’m done with Spark and will move to Outlook or Canary as an interim solution until Readdle learns some basic software development skills.

Premium feature pop-up and reminders. TLDR: This is now a ‘freemium’ app that bugs you constantly to become ‘premium’. The newest version has “premium” features that are part of the app. I don’t want the premium features and declined the free trial. I still get messages for the premium features. The buttons, etc. to activate the premium features are still available, but when you tap on one, you get a message staying something to the effect of, “this is a premium feature. Would you like to try your free trial?” For example, when you get an email from a new sender there is an, “accept or decline” option so you can block the sender without even needing to open the email. This is a great feature, but if you click “Decline” you get the message about needing to be premium effectively making “Accept” the only real option for non-premium members. If I can’t decline, and already said that I didn’t want to be a premium member, then don’t present the options.

Great product experience. You’ll find lots of praise on the product and I agree Spark is sparkilicious. I have been using the iPhone and Mac app for one year now and find the small things to add up immensely over the competing apps. Once you have your accounts and signatures and preferences setup, they sync once you login via new device. Also, I appreciate the integration with 1Password! And I enjoy the support from Readdle.... they are quick and they LISTEN. I was pleasantly surprised to get a meaningful response that gave me an idea of when I’d see the change I was requesting (cc: and bcc: options on the iOS app). I got another reply back to let me know the feature I had wrote about would be part of their next release. It’s what you would expect but so many other companies drop the ball on meaningful engagement. Keep it going!

Great Idea..... Terrible experience. I’ve been using Sparks for a few days & I wish I could express how amazing it works... but unfortunately, as I do love the idea of its capabilities the issues I’m experiencing are unacceptable!! The MAIN Issue is the serious lag in my 6s iPhones performance! It started the day I downloaded it. If I leave it open in the background it slows everything down and randomly closes whatever I’m using and takes me to the home screen!! The App at times Can literally take 3 to 4 seconds when moving to the next unopened message or trying to delete one. It was a little slow at first but it’s progressively getting worse! Yesterday the app froze-up 2 times to the point I had to turn my phone off just to do anything! When that first started it would normally just freeze for a second then closes itself out. 😞 I have plenty of space available space on my iPhone 6s... I wish it would have worked out a little differently but not all that glitters is gold!! I’m sending this one to my app graveyard!

A bit buggy. It seems as if my phone is spinning in circles and will not retrieve new mail. However I do get pop-up notifications that I have new mail but I cannot retrieve them once I go into the application. I also have missed several business emails because for whatever reason on my phone and my computer, messages go straight to the seen section instead of staying at the top before they are read. So, several days pass before I actually see the email that was sent to me regarding business matters. This is very annoying. The other quirk with this app is that my signature for my business ends up on my other personal emails by default. I’ve checked to make sure that it is only specified for my business email and it is only specified for my business email. So I’m a bit annoyed with that because you cannot erase the signature once you were in the email itself. I’ve emailed technical support about this issue but have not heard back yet.

So close to perfect!. Spark is a great email app. Just look at all the glowing reviews. But there's one huge drawback that keeps it from being best-in-class. I'm glad that Spark provides the ability to block all remote images in emails. This helps reduce positive pings from spammers. The problem is, with Spark, this is an "all-or-nothing" setting. If you have remote images turned off in settings, then you waste huge amounts of time clicking "Display images below" in every single email that you DO want to see images in. But if you turn the global setting off, then you're exposing yourself to spam. Spark needs to do what many other email apps have done, and that is to "learn" which senders I trust, and always show images for them automatically. This is easily accomplished by providing TWO options at the top of opened emails instead of one: - Display images ONCE for this sender - ALWAYS display images for this sender If ALWAYS is chosen, then this message would go away for that sender and images would always be displayed for all future emails from that person. In time, this whole process would fade into the background, and all interactions with trusted senders would become effortless, while still providing stellar spam blocking for all non-trusted senders. (This needs to be available on macOS and iOS).

Help!. For the most part the app is good! All the functions I need are easy to get to and I like that I can swipe quickly between emails. It would be nice if the app could run a little faster though, it takes a good few seconds for the animations to play before the desired action happens. One big problem I’ve noticed is that flagging emails is getting very buggy. I frequently flag important receipts and move them to a folder but I’m finding that the headings and the body of the flagged emails don’t match up. I originally thought it wouldn’t be so bad because I could ignore the heading and continue to read the body of the email but today I went and checked the regular apple mail app and found that the flags were put on the wrong emails and I had just deleted an important receipt! Luckily I rarely delete emails and was able to recover the one I needed but this could be a huge problem if it causes me to lose important emails.

Fantastic… But Not for Personal Use. This is an amazing mail app, I prefer it to many others for many reasons. It looks great, feels great, and works everywhere mobile. Spark is a mail app that seems pivoted towards professional team use. I just prefer the personal use of the app as no one comes close to a good UX like Spark’s. However, there are some issues I have: 1. It’s slower on picking up new emails than the default Mail app. Speed is incredibly important as email is primarily what I use to generate 2FA codes and other verification. Mail is better here. Speed is also important for when you’re waiting on an important email. Knowing the Spark app is slower just makes me open Mail and spam refresh there. 2. Viewing documents is great but when I tap to mark up a document to send, instead of Spark sending me to the native markup menu on iPadOS, it advertises its own markup software. It’s cool that you guys have your own but I want to use what I have natively. I have no need of yours. I’m using this for personal use so I don’t need your team focused suite. These two issues together brought me right back to using the default Mail app, which still functions well, has increased speed, and works reliably with other iOS functions :( The app deserves 4 stars, but I have to give it 3 since I can’t use it anymore.

This app rocks!. isn’t even done loading and I am already giving it 5 stars because I have it on my MacBook and the interface is clean. I am still working to sync my iCal, however that is not the functionality Spark has full control over. The desktop version of this product is far easier on the eye than your average browser with gmail open. I am looking forward to utilizing the OneNote featured add-on. Curious how this application may evolve, its an excellent email work horse app so far for me. Currently I’m at zero in my primary inbox, organizing my mail is a big deal for me. I am not into spam, makes me curious if the consistency the application categorizes newsletters will be enough to support my needs or avoidance of capitalism via digital mail. I will update this review if I have a divorce with Spark, but for now we are hitched.

v2 is rough. The recent change to this app was a miss imo. The UI seems more streamlined but imo it comes at the cost of the UX. In addition, the number of crashes I’ve experienced has been objectively higher in the short period since this update’s release than the rest of the time I’ve had the app. Couple that with the decision to go with a subscription based service and to me this is a huge let down. I don’t have a problem with paying for software but the lack of a non-subscription payment option is a dealbreaker for me. Let me just pay for a v2 upgrade and I’ll happily pay again when v3 is out if I feel like upgrading. All that being said- this app is still one of better email apps on the App Store but it is imo no longer the de facto choice. Outlook, is now a much more competitive option. I’ve used both side by side for a while now but I will now be testing out using Outlook full time. Hopefully the crashes and ux will have improved by the time I’m back.

Over and out. Long time user. Spoke highly of Spark, but this update and overall direction of the app is not good. Unlike a lot of complaints, I don’t care about the new subscription model. Personally, I understand that these companies need residual income and the buy-once-get-all-updates does not make for a long lasting business. My complaints are 1) selling a subscription to a half baked app (mainly referring to the desktop version which is lacking most of the Spark 2 features) and 2) a bug filled iOS version. I found the update to 3.0 unacceptable—so much so I cancelled my free trial, deleted the app from all my devices and switched to Apple Mail. Some of the gripes I have 1) their vision of an email app does not fit mine. The new app basically forces you to use email the way they think you should use it. And while you can revert back to a 2.0-ish version, it’s not the fully the same. Especially the desktop version. 2) I kept having issues with email sync and notifications. A lot of times I did not see all my email notifications until I opened the app, at which point several new emails would all of a sudden show that were not there until it synced. I did not have this problem with Spark 2. Ultimately I came to the decision to end my relationship with Spark because I could not see paying $42 a year for an app that’s half baked and tries to make me use email the way THEY think email should work. Truly sad to see this happen.

I do love email again!. I was a LONG time Mac Mail user until one day, all of my sort filters and search stopped working. I spent hours trying to fix it - everything from reboot to terminal commands. Nothing worked. I then read about Spark and gave it a go. After a solid week of use, I am in love with my inbox! I actually enjoy checking and sorting email! My only complaint is the threaded message view. In my work flow, I need to be able to flag/pin a specific email from a client which has information I need, not an entire chain of emails that happen to share a subject line. I now have to read through sometimes 4 or 5 emails of back and forth conversation to get one or two lines of information. If there was a way to pin the whole thread but highlight key information that would be helpful!

Such great potential, but major bugs hold it back. In search of a better experience, I have been using spark for over 3 years. Its a great mail app; the shortcuts are intuitive and the UX makes work more efficient. The one thing that kills me is these large bugs that are extremely inappropriate for a mail app. Sometimes the calender doesn't sync correctly and events you have scheduled disappear or never appear or appear on the wrong date. Sometimes emails that we're marked as unread or flagged somehow lose that status and slip away into the inbox. Most annoyingly you have to re-sign in at least with my custom google workspace, about one a month, but due to an error in sign in, I have to delete the app and all my rules and preferences to do so. How? Why? You have one job, Spark!! Apple mail, while way less intrinsic to use is extremely stable and I never experienced an issue with it. I may even give superhuman a try. Shame, had such potential.

Still so close.... Updated 2/3/18: Still my go-to email app, but I wish it would put my spam email in the junk box instead of continuing to shove previously marked junk emails into the inbox. There’s no reason to insist that sources marked as spammers should continue to be allowed into the inbox. Trash the spam, already. Old review: So close...to being perfect. It's such a good app, but there are some issues that I wish the developer would address (at least on the 5s/iOS 9.2). • When left running in the background, the app will sometimes crash - blue background, no tabs, no buttons, no response. Requires close/reopen. • All to often notifications will be visible, but tapping on them won't open them. I either have to select New Email from the column on the left or (when that doesn't work) restart the app. • I usually have to initiate a manual refresh by pulling down from the menu bar. The app only seems to refresh when it wants to. • There's no way to re-order tabs. This is a real headache if you're hoping to organize things suitable to your workflow. • It would be nice if we could customize notification sounds, especially between individuals. These things aside, it's a very nice app. I look forward to the bugs being shaken out, and maybe a couple of new features.

Simply the best. The Spark app is truly hard to find a single problem with. I switched from the apple mail app a few years ago now and have never looked back. The Spark app has tons of functionality for teams in assigning emails and staying organized, but my favorite by far is its ability to automatically organize your emails into different folders (alerts, personal, newsletter, etc.) The other stand away part of this app is that their (mostly Ukrainian!!) dev and support team is unbelievably responsive and quick to solve your problems. Even though I haven’t had many issues or troubleshooting in the first place, the times I’ve worked with the support team have stood out as phenomenal customer service, not to mention that this app is payment and ad free. Thanks for an incredible experience so far - looking forward to many more years on Spark!

Marginally Better than others. A year after reporting an issue with sending messages, no response from support and no fix after numerous updates. Simple Google account, attempt to send a message. Shortly after sending, close the app and a couple minutes later, the app comes back to say the message wasn’t sent and reopen the app. In general, performance is marginal and if you are a power user trying to go through hundreds of emails per day, the swiping to archive gets stuck and takes a lot of time. Additionally, searching is a litter better than other e-mail apps but nowhere near the GMail search capability. I understand the limitations, however, even a marginally better increase would be good. There is a lot of potential, but without the basic ability to send a message, this app is useless as a productivity app.

Finally a clean inbox!. I love the versatility of Spark! I have several different email addresses and now everything is in order and each day I clear out all my inboxes. I used to be the person who had 5,000+ unread messages because I’d just scroll past the unimportant looking for emails that were important. But once I got spark (I also use the Unroll app to help manage my subscriptions) I was able to archive or delete everything and start fresh and now I have a place for everything and everything is in its place. I stopped all the mail forwards to my main email so now emails go into their own inbox in spark and i can put that hat on before I start dealing with those emails (where before i was forced to be scatterbrained as things from different parts of my life were all coming into the same place). Spark has been a game changer. Love it!!

The email app that made me not hate email. I’ve tried lots of different email apps looking for one that could help me manage messages instead of them managing me. I tried Outlook, Sortd, Gmail, CloudMagic, iOS mail, etc but didn’t love any of them. Spark is awesome because of all the ways that it allows you to remind yourself to handle things. I use the Pin feature to keep all the email that I need to follow up on in one place. It becomes my TO DO list. Then I use the build in reminder clocks to set deadlines for others to reply to my emails. It’s great. I also really like the integration with the MacBook desktop version so I’m always in sync. Like many others the swipe left or right functions really speed up handling email but with Spark I can customize it to handle several different common tasks like delete, move, move to spam or lots more. Highly recommended!

Calender Integration. Spark, please improve the calendar integration. I have no problem with you inserting your calendar instead of using Apple’s, though the way it stands now, I much prefer Apple’s calendar inside the Spark app. The calendar integration was much better when you first brought Spark to us. Your stand alone calendar app is great, but the iteration that is part of Spark is horrible. I’ve mentioned this plenty of times before, and every single update that comes out is the same horrible calendar. Do you guys even care? I would hope so, because there is so much to love about Spark and the possibilities. I hate that when I select an event or appointment, it immediately sends me to edit it. Your calendars app doesn’t even do it. It brings up a preview of the event or appointment and then you can select to edit or not. Plus, I can’t even see the whole month, I’m stuck in week view. Please get these things fixed and make Spark what it should be, if you are serious about calendar integration.

Suggestion. I love this app, it’s my favorite app on my phone, it helps me to be my most productive self especially with inbox zero, calendar, and the email prioritization feature. With Spark AI, I’ve been having a lot of fun specifically proofreading my emails and having it update my composed email instantly. Now the Widgets seem to never work for me which is a bummer, but every once in a while it chooses to work so idk what the root issue. I want to make a suggestion. Maybe there’s a way to do this already, or maybe it’s in development, but if neither, then here’s a suggestion! a way for Spark AI to automatically summarize my email and take my “todos” and create me a todo list separately. I work from home and get lots of emails from the team that basically assigns me work and I would love to just have that list of tasks be compiled in one section if possible.

Spark — Great Email App, But Not Yet Perfect!. Spark is, as widely reviewed, indeed a wonderful email app. It supports all major email account types. And it has a password/PIN lock, which is necessary on shared iPads, because Apple stupidly still does not have separate user accounts and logins. HOWEVER: Spark is missing some very important and critica features, including: (A) Amazingly, it does not yet support the ubiquitous ActiveSync protocol, so if you use Microsoft Exchange, Spark will show you a blank calendar with none of your appointments!; (B) Spark does not have the usual option to turn off showing email as combined threads/chains, which many users find cluttering and very confusing; (C) there is no option to make the Spark font larger or smaller; and (D) there is no option to change the time delay after which Spark will require a passcode/PIN if you had switched to another app. When Spark adds most or all of these common and standard features, then it deserves and I will give it five stars.

Absolute Buggy Mess Since Latest Big Update. I’ve used this app since 2018 and have absolutely loved it, ever since this latest update, it has broken it to the point where it’s almost unusable. It’s constantly showing the incorrect amount of unread emails on the icon badge, it’ll show hundreds of emails I go to clean it up by marking all of them read and several minutes later it’ll show hundreds unread again. I go to check the emails and it’s the same emails that I marked as read. As someone who has constant business emails this is a hassle, constantly checking emails to make sure nothing is loss in the mess. Another issue is showing I have a few unread emails, check the app and it shows I have no new emails whatsoever, again having to constantly recheck the app. Please fix this, also I tried using Smart 2.0 and it’s just too clunky to use and I’ve reverted back to 1.0 almost immediately but that might be because I’ve used 1.0 for the last 4 years.

Simply the most reliable and bug free. I have tried for a few years a lot of mail app alternative to the ios native app. And Spark is definitely my favorite. I originally decided to switch from the native app because yahoo and gmail do not support push with ios mail app anymore. And did not want to fetch every 15 minutes for obvious reason (data consumption, battery usage and email arriving up to 15 minutes too late!) Spark was simple to set up, I have gmail, yahoo and icloud mail accounts. I was please that the app would remind me of app specific password when setting up my icloud account. For google and yahoo, setup was fast and easy. I did not notice any bugs... thumbs up! whereas other apps airmail in particular has issues with push notification, after a few days, I would, out of the blue, stop getting new mail notifications , I had to manually go into the mail server settings of the app (not change anything) just reconfirm and it would start working again. Other mail apps problem I have encountered is spell checking, they would not underline in red the spelling mistake... but if you over an obvious spelling mistake and highlight the word then you would get suggestions to correct it. very annoying. I would draft in other app spell check and the copy paste back into the mail app. So all in all spark is fast and reliable and bug free so far.

Spark Email. Excellent app, great if you have multiple email accounts, handles them flawlessly, I have eight. Has everything you need, snooze your emails pin them so they are easily found, Smart inbox separates newsletters and other advertisements from your regular email, can remind you that the important email you sent to your boss or your client or even friends have not responded to you. The only item it lacks is the ability to notify you that a recipient of your email has been opened your email and what day and what time it was opened. A great thing for teachers or professors who rely on communication with their students and it stops the comment from students “well I never got your email”. “OH YES YOU DID STUDENT YOU My email program indicates you opened it at such and such day and such and such time, busted.” Provide that to us FREE or at a reasonable price, this app will receive ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Re-ignite the Flame. After becoming totally fed up with Apple Mail 5 years ago, I started on what turned out to be a long journey to find a better email application. I spent more than two years with Airmail, a year with Edison Mail, then some bouncing back and forth. There were parts of both I liked and parts of both I hated. And then I decided to try Spark. By far, Sparknis the best email app out. I use it on my phone and iPad. Syncing is seamless. Message creation is quick and looks good. And the most important part, plowing through the chaff to find the seed is so much better than any other solution, that I actually like the process. On several occasions I have found myself going through my 10+ email Inboxes cleaning them out for fun! It used to be something I had to steel myself to do and usually procrastinated doing almost anything else instead. I. Love. Spark!

Used to be the best mail app, but became unusably buggy. Spark was, for months, the best mail app I had ever used. It allowed me to conquer my inbox easily and treat every message as something actionable. Unfortunately, since the beginning of December, it has become entirely unusable. Both on my mac, phone, and iPad, whenever I open the app, it looks fine and usable for about 10 seconds before every single email begins to disappear, and I'm told that my inbox is empty. Using the search box doesn't bring up a single message either. If this issue could be diagnosed, I would gladly come back to spark and start recommending it to everyone I know again (and give it 5 stars), but in its current state, it's pitiful. I have switched to Google Inbox for the meantime which, although similar to spark, doesn't even compare from a UI, productivity, and quality of clustering perspective. I hope to hear back.

WARNING. HUGE Risk and Company refuses to fix crashes and slowness for years.. Update. Still crashing. So now AI with crashing. Not good. Read the old reviews. Slow, crashes, told to re-install. No change. Same story today. Also, HUGE security risk… read on. When reinstall fails users are asked the send “logs” that have enough personally identifiable information to take out the chairman of the Federal Reserve. Friends, relatives, clients, banks, pharmacies. The works. Now in the fine print they tell you not to send without reviewing what you’re sending… but what good is that?? It’s your email accounts, all of them. It would take months to manually anonymize which they could make happen in a single button. Just don’t. They are fully capable of making it safe to get metrics and not know the name of your broker. Company refuses to get to the bottom of the issues after years. I find it impossible to believe that if they use their own software they don’t hit the same issues so many are facing and just fix them without needing to solicit user’s private data. A true head scratcher. You have been warned.

Great Email App!. This app has helped my email feel much more manageable again. Not only does the Smart Inbox feature split my emails up surprisingly well (only a couple exceptions), but the start-out tutorials helped me develop better habits with my email. I try to check it more consistently now rather than sporadically, especially since it’s not so overwhelming when I open it up. Spark makes it easy for me to see all the newsletters I subscribe to but never read, so I can unsubscribe and clean out my inbox. Also, the schedule to send feature is fantastic, and I’m honestly surprised no one else has included this in their email apps yet. Helps me send an email to someone right when I know they’ll see it. If you are scared of your inbox like I was, afraid to tackle the 1,000+ unread messages counting up on you notification badge, try this app! You won’t be disappointed.

Good app… but buggy. This is the best email app out there. Kind of a sad statement because Spark is BUGGY. I routinely have to force-close the app and reopen it a couple times before emails actually load anything but the headers. Sometimes you quick delete emails and then force-close the app. All those emails are back in the inbox and are marked unread. Spark does not consistently sync between devices. Read and delete on the iPad, then ta-dah! It’s unread and undeleted on the iPhone, even an hour or two later. The best email apps are not very good, have bugs, and app crashes. At least Spark only crashes once every week or two. That’s saying something in a world of lousy email apps. Spark is the best email app I’ve found, even though it is buggy. I’m willing to work with the bugs, but Spark isn’t getting better. The same bugs stick around for years. Literally, for years. Imagine dealing with those issues on a BAD email app, instead of a decent app like Spark?
