App Crash. In the middle of my ride when I pull out my phone and open the Trailforks app only to be met with a notice saying that I need to pay for Trailforks pro and basically pay my way to find a trail back to the car is the biggest leg pull ever and I hope the rating goes down to 1 star. Even with its app being extremely glitchy and crashing unexpectedly, do they want you to pay $35 dollars for something that will eventually not even work or be reliable at all for the first year and then charge $60 after the 2nd. Trailforks, bring back the stable free version you had before. No one wants to pay for free information.

Paying for very little. I am torn. I used to love Trailforks, it was the best source for finding and updating local MTB trails. But I’m not going to pay for a year of something I only use 3-4 months. Especially when there are excellent competitors with more funding and more engineering behind them. I know you need to charge to survive and I would probably pay a small one time fee, but I’m tired of subscriptions and this one just isn’t worth it.

Just Does Not Work. I have used Trailforks Pro for a year now and it never functions properly to record a ride. It is a great app to see available trails, but is seriously flawed when it comes to creating and tracking rides. Even when I get error messages about app problems and the app saving the ride, it is not retrievable. I just thought it was not user friendly, but I think it is beyond comprehension.

A must have for all mountain bikers!. I’m amazed at the trail coverage this app provides & wouldn’t do a ride without it. It’s by far one of my most used iPhone apps.

Always know where I’m going with TrailForks. Mt. biking in new places is so easy with this app. I can get to a new riding area and navigate it like I’ve ridden it 100 times and plan the route in the most downhill direction. Can’t beat that.

Barely functional. Good luck doing anything besides recording a ride. The app is way overloaded with functions that do not work. You will spend hours on the simplest tasks to no avail, like cropping your avatar as it only displays the top left 16th of whatever photo you choose regardless of size, while the crop box stays frozen in time. Uploading trail photos is a nightmare as the app randomizes the photo information despite your input, and correcting it is nearly impossible. Forgetting to stop a ‘public’ recording will leave a track directly to your house, and when you crop that part out for privacy, it will reappear the next time you open the app, so you must delete the entire recording. Regardless of your chosen region, when you click discover, the app will display trails that are thousands of miles away, and you cannot even narrow it down to your state. I could go on and on as I have spent countless hours over the past few years trying to get the hang this super janky software. My IQ is not low. Sorry trailforks, I don’t think people are looking for a brain aneurism in exchange for a mountain biking app. I have contributed a lot to trailforks btw, and it’s been a painstakingly slow or unsuccessful process. Our time is too valuable to be wasted on this dysfunctional software. Trim the fat, and simplify the process trailforks, it’s that bad. I am guessing the people claiming trailforks as a must have are not contributors or trail builders.

Lost without it!. Great app for all outdoor activities. Been a user since beta testing. 👍🏼👍🏼 Highly recommend to anyone looking to plan outdoor rides, hikes, snowmobiling etc…

Quite useful. I would still be in the woods if I didn’t have this. Also found so many new trails that I would never have known about. One thing is that idk why but it won’t let me change from metric to cheese burger(us costmary).

Its getting better , be loyal. Give it time.. This app has a lot of potential and getting better. I use it all the time, cant wait for them to really step up their game. Great job guys keep improving!!

New version is unusable. This used to be an amazing app. In fact the top App for mountain biking. I have been a devoted user for 6-7 years. It has suddenly gone terribly wrong. Now standard features like ‘top ways to ride this trail’ crash the app 9 out of 10 times. I deleted and reinstalled (which was a huge pain) with no improvement. This app needs an immediate update if its developers want it to remain as highly used as it has been in the past.

Tells me I don’t have pro version. I bought pro version but for some reason every time I use app it says “unlock more with pro.” I bought the pro, but it didn’t recognize that I did and I have to go through a bunch of trouble just to use the app every time I want to. So irritated, so I just want to cancel the app… but am having a hard time doing that too

Poor Customer Service. Like other reviews, the app, when working is functionally sound. However, it does constantly boot you off and pinkbike makes you work through a maze of self help fixes, including sending them proof of subscription only to get more self-help articles that make thing more frustrating when they don’t solve the problem but make things worse. Don’t waste your time, money, and sanity thinking the app or pinkbike will work for you!

Essential. Trailforks is almost as essential as having air in the tires. Especially when navigating new trail networks. Very well laid out and visually exceptional. And very well worth the annual subscription. Which helps good people do this good work. I am hoping eventually they can do for hiking trails what they have done for mountain bike networks.

Subscriptions…. Just like everything now a days something good was ruined by subscriptions. This app used to allow you to download one region and get detailed mapping of trails which was helpful when I was learning new trails in my area and lost. I use this app somewhat infrequently but it was super handy when I needed it in a pinch. Now when I’m lost on new trails, they made it nearly impossible to zoom in and get any detail of where I took a wrong turn, especially when it’s bright out and I can barely see my screen. Gray trail on a gray background done on purpose so I’m forced to pay for pro. Good thing strava just added trail mapping..

Woke Hypocrisy at it’s Finest. My favorite thing ever about Outside Mag and everything they own is showcased with this app. Let’s preach up and down our platforms about how outdoor sports need to be made more accessible to everyone and more affordable to the less fortunate and let’s make everyone who enjoys outdoor sports feel guilty for not being a minority BUT!!!!!…..oh you need to pay us a subscription to read about it and also pay us a subscription to find where you are on a map in the woods. Absolute clowns, these people.

Hail Trailforks!. Yes great god of mountain bike app’s Trailforks I love thee! I just downloaded the update and u fixed the one thing that bugged me which was a direction of travel arrow on ride logs! Thanks! When I’m on data hog AllTrails and can’t find where I am I always click on Trailforks and immediately figure out where I am. I travel full time and before I look at campsites I hit Trailforks to figure out where the great trails are then plan my stay from that. I pay the annual fee as I use the app constantly! Great job boys! Er and girls! Lol

My favorite app!!! Worth every penny. My riding world was so small before Trailforks. I love all the information that helps me find rides for me or suited for my kids. The land ownership overlay helps me find campsites near trails. And the weather overlay and trail reports help me when weather is iffy. Offline mode is real nice too. Huge thanks to everyone making these trails possible. I will admit browsing TrailForks is my favorite past time.

Dangerous garbage. I recently gave this app a try after using the web browser version for a while. Well turns out with the new update you can’t use the map at all without a subscription. As soon as you start to zoom in the map gets incredibly dark, purposely so that you have to pay for their stupid subscription. It doesn’t effect me but I can’t imagine getting lost, thinking that it will help you get back on the trail, only for it to beg for a subscription from you

Great app lots of great feature will room for improvement. It's great app to find trails, I am iPhone user on the trail when I am using app for recording my ride on the trail screen keep turning off every after few seconds and I have to keep turning back on to see if I am still on trail or not. This is annoying on top theft is no Apple Watch app. There you go developer a app review.

Good to find trails, bad for tracking. This is definitely the most comprehensive list of trails and routes for my area. However, the ride tracking is extremely bare bones and unreliable. It takes like 15 or more minutes to fully upload your trace and make it viewable for some reason. AllTrails gives you elevation, pace, splits and more with a much better UI. So, find a trail on your desktop or something, and use a different app to track progress.

Ruined by subscription. Used to be a great app for recording rides, and finding trails. Now it’s basically unusable with the “pro” subscription. Subscribe ads pop up every time you change a screen veiw and it gets almost too dark to read when you try and zoom in. Gaia and the OnX (Hunt & backcountry) aps have take Trailforks place for my Go to trail maps now.

Useless without subscription. TLDR: The most recent version of the app will not show any useful trail detail without a subscription. Used to be a great app that provided enhanced functionality with a subscription but still had value without one. Now without the subscription you can only see general information about trail networks and you don’t have access to any information about individual trails. Don’t bother downloading unless you plan on paying for the subscription.

New subscription ruins usage. Before some of the latest changes, you could essentially have access to all the app’s recorded trails within your state for free. Now, it is a much much smaller green square, and for full access you need to pay. While the pricing tends to match other apps, the quality does not. So, use a different app. Now you pay a similar price as other apps for far less functionality.

Slow. Very slow to upload ride logs, sometimes takes over 48 hours to see ride log and my latest ride over 5 days ago still hasn’t uploaded. This app used to upload almost immediately but lately has become almost useless for recording rides. The mapping feature is just fine and records just fine while riding, it just fails to upload after saving and submitting.

Works well for me. As much as I don't like paying for things I at least understand that most people can't work for free, and similarly app development / maintenance ain't free. (I currently have the Pro subscription) I dont much access the online version (computer) but I agree that there is an annoying login bug, waiting for resolution on this. Its not perfect as far as trail coverage and updates but it's not faltered in finding my ways. That's specifically been Colorado Kansas Missouri Arkansas Spain Sweden for coverages... I recommend it overall. Note After last app update and the issues with it - you should try to delete and reinstall phone app - now mine works fine. Had very prompt communication with app developers and so far so good.

One of the best trail maps apps. I switch between Gaia, AllTrails and Trailforks. TrailForks often has the best (and most readable) sport-specific trail maps, for mountain biking vs hiking for example- it’s a unique feature set to see different trail networks based on travel mode, and a very well curated collection of maps.

Very reliable. Been using this in the backcountry for years, still using it, be sure to preload maps, works very well with iPhone 12, worth the purchase price as it nails it offline!

Post 6/1 gps accuracy dropped to 8%. My Wahoo speed sensor + gps was dead on matching trail markers . Trailforks seemed 2% off just gps, which no big deal. Then 6/1 Trailforks updated the app, got terrible like 8% off. I'm a paid subscriber, sent them email bug report . Actually 2 emails with details. Mike Rosinski

Nice to have. If only it would turn by turn guide like maps for the way

55% price increase??!. I LOVE this app and have for many years. I was a pretty early adopter and would be lost (literally) without it. However I just saw a 55% increase in price for the pro version. Am I seeing things or did they really do this?? Good lord guys/gals….

Game changer, Life saver. The best things in life comes at a price! And the cost of Trailforks is a small price to pay for the best trails App. I have tried them all and Trailforks is in a class of its own! In Illinois Trailforks has every hiking and mountain biking trailz! The accuracy is so much better than anything else. The App works seamlessly and is super intuitive and easy to use. I love the layers and discover feature and the fact that you dont need a cell signal. I have used Trailforks for seven years all over the US, Europe and Africa - I dont leave home without it. Great value for my hard earned money. Higly recommended.

Most complete MTB trail maps. Trailforks has the most complete mountain bike maps, you have to pay for it but it’s worth it when you’re exploring new trails.

Great app but. This app is amazing, it’s been a wonderful tool in finding trails and especially because you can use it off line, but it stoped working for me about a year ago because your supposed to pay for it, and I was paying for it but for some reason it wouldn’t let me use it as if I didn’t pay my bill for it, so I deleted the app, well turns out that this entire time I’ve been getting charged for it anyway and I keep getting notifications saying that it’s going to renew my subscription soon, so let me get the straight? I haven’t been able to use it as if I wasn’t paying for it but yet they’ve been taking the money? And for that reason I give it one star

More useful features than you can imagine. This is by far one of the most useful apps that I have ever used. I am a bit biased being a mountain biker for the past 35 years with industry work and racing in my past. The many ways this app has used rider curated data to elevate and facilitate the sport of mountain biking is mind boggling. Well done gang. I cannot do enough to support this app and it’s creators. Mountain biking has fueled my life and Trailforks has super boosted the ability of riders to explore the world of mountain biking. Hands down the best apps a rider can put on their phone!

New Update Pay Wall. The new update makes the app useless to people who don’t pay. I can’t look at trails or location without needing to pay. Used to love this app especially when trying to discover new trails but I can even look a trails rating without having “TrailForks Pro” shoved down my throat.

Very limited content, limited features and buggy. This app seems like a summer project. There is very little content and very few features. It can't even display trails on the map when searching for trails. The login process with the Outside subscription takes a lot of effort and a password reset to use. Honestly, with all of the competition out there, there isn't any reason to use this poor imitation of a trail guide app.

Much more than a trail guide!. Most of us only know trail forks as a guidebook for mountain biking. But did you know about the other dozen features? For example you can log trail work time, sync it with strava, and change layers for different riding seasons. Love this app. Well built and vital to the cycling community

Glitchy with bad internet connection. The only issue I have with the app is that when your internet connection is bad (like when you’re out on a trail, exactly when you’d use the app) it continuously refreshes your location. You’re not able to zoom out and move the map around for more than literally one second, which makes it difficult to plan out future runs when you’re out and about. It zips you straight back to your location as if you had pressed the button to do that. Literally after 1 second of searching around the map. It’s terribly unhelpful.

Reliable. It’s an app I can count on when others are inaccurate and weak with detail (Strava) . I’m doing more solo rides this year and I do not enjoy being lost in the desert. Trail Forks never lets me down!

What a mess. I actually wanted to just….subscribe or… whatever? Use Pro I guess? It sends you to all these outside magazine sites and wants logins and create this and that? I mean I have (had?) a Pinkbike account but that’s…somehow not what is needed?? Why would you not just use Apple’s subscription?? I’m trying to get past how this was all stolen from the community and then resold to the very same people but…wow, what a complete mess

Carpet pulled from underfoot…. Until the latest update, one could use a free version of Trailforks. No more. One used to be able to search trails and navigate as core functions. Paid upgrade opened up saving and many other features. But OUTSIDE MAGAZINE is greedy. They own Pinkbike (this app developer), and this app. Once they bought Trailforks from the original developer, the app has continued to decline into a homogenized money maker - same crap Outside Magazine has done to their silly magazine and everything they’ve touched since the early 1990’s. Now, you can’t even use the app for core functionality. 100% garbage. Shame again on Outside Magazine. I will never give them a dollar.

Only useful with subscription. This was my favorite trail app by a mile, it had the most comprehensive list of trails and info about said trails. I enjoyed using the app so much that I became a pro subscriber to help support the cause. My daughter recently joined her first mountain bike team and I downloaded the app for her since you “used” to be able to download one region for free. Now the one region is dark grey and you can barely see where you are in daylight and no other info besides the name is available. I am so concerned she’ll become lost relying on this map that I’ve instead installed MTB project and am considering not renewing my pro membership once the existing subscription expires.

My New Favorite. It’s got everything you need to find exactly what your looking:) the layout is very well put together and find it pretty easy to navigate as well. 5stars for me!

Great, but could be even better. Pro version is worth every penny. Easy to use and very helpful. I would really like an apple watch version so I don’t have to pull out my phone at every intersection.

Love the functionality, but buggy!!. It constantly boots me out of my pro subscription and sends me through endless login loops to try to get back in. It ends up being a waste of money for how many months I don’t use it because I literally can’t log in. When I can log in, it works great. Lots of trails included and just the information you need. I don’t like apps like All Trails that only show routes and have endless photos and descriptions from random people. This app is great cause it simply shows all you the trails in a given area with the basic info like distance, difficulty, and elevation gain. Simple.

Not perfect, but a good and useful app that just needs a bit more love. While there are other apps that do the same thing in a more polished way, I find Trailforks to work very well. For me, the Garmin Edge integration is a game changer and the ability to just add a trail to my wish list and have it pop up on my Edge is huge.

No Apple Watch App Development. Trailforks is a solid platform and I use it all the time. The phone app has yet to let me down. The reason for the 2 stars is that there isn’t an Apple Watch companion app. This is a huge oversight as I have seen in Garmin watches that you can live view your location on the map. This would be a game changer to all of us Apple Watch users. Please bring out an Apple Watch companion app.

Money grubbing low functionality. I really don’t appreciate how I have paid for this app multiple times and it rarely works, not to mention it was built on the backs of volunteers that did not receive anything for their work other than a bill for an app they built. I pray Outside doesn’t buy any more apps that I use. Outside+ “you love the outdoors, we hate you!”

Best app there is to discover MTB trails. I love Trailforks. It has the most comprehensive map/list of trails, at least in the places I ride, and I find it absolutely invaluable in my riding. I happily pay the subscription fee as I fee I get way more than my money’s worth from this app

It’s become frustrating. App instability overall. My biggest gripe is “Discover” never shows what’s in my current map view. Will be zoomed on a trail system in Crested Butte and it tells me I should ride “The Whole Enchilada” that’s nearby….. yeah Trailforks I’d love to but it’s a couple hundred miles away. Deleted the app, signed out, signed in. Happens on iPhone and iPad. Please update the GUI on this app, it feel pretty old now. Pleas add better filters too, reduce some clutter, it’s 2023 man!

New Tracks. There’s some new tracks around warriewood that some school kids built. It’s a reasonable track and is used quite a bit so I thought you might want to add it on the map. It’s in between the 2 round abouts on Warriewood Road. Overall the map is really accurate and I use it a lot.

Great App. Fantastic

Best trail app. Gives you all you need to know about your local trails. So pleased I found this app as it has introduced me to so many trails in the Brisbane/Queensland area that I would never have known about. Perfect!!!! thank you.

trailforks pro. this was a great app a few years back, super handy and i really enjoyed it however now i have re installed a few years down the track everything is pretty much impossible without buying their trailforks pro version, which is a subscription service and no way you can just buy outright either im not against paying for an app, but im not sure about the way this ones done making it pretty much useless if you dont

Bad move changing to Subscription. Greedy with many bugs

Great App - keep up the dev work. Only had the App a short time. Immediately stepped up to Pro... as another reviewer said nothing good is for free, not entirely true as the free version of this is great but I wanted to support this Developer! Just for now the armchair-cruising of rides near me is worth it! And when I start traveling it could be invaluable. We’ll see. But for now good work developer and keep up there maintanence and improvements!

Needs work. Cant upload a photo for avatar. Website tech seems like it's 20 years old. Unable to crop an image on mobile device the resize handles don't respond the entire web page moves! Definitely not worth spending any money on this as it feels like a beta app from at least a decade ago!

Ruined by Trailforks Pro. Trailforks has been ruined by Trailforks Pro. It was a great free App. Now you are forced to pay for Trailforks pro which is the same as Trailforks but with a Subscription service. I understand they need to make some money but a subscription service means they get your money every month when you only use the App occasionally.

Amazing. Best app! I’d be so lost withot this. Would like to see an Apple Watch app please

The pro feature didn’t work!!. I love the app but I bought a subscription and it didn’t give me The pro version. Ultra disappointed as I am on holiday and only have today to explore new trails :-(

Needs some usability improvements!. Great concept, nothing else like it and I’m happy to pay… but please improve the UI!

Great app. This app knows my home town better than I do! It’s shown me heaps of tracks I didn’t even know existed - heaps of great tracks - and ratings and comments and technical info about all of them. Records rides and even gives you little progress achievements etc... Couldn’t be happier with it!

No App for Apple Watch. The app is great but it an App for suit the apple watch would enhance it's useability.

Fantastic app for discovering trails while travelling!. This app is fantastic! I am using it at the moment while travelling New Zealand on a 'year of adventure'. I've been using it to navigate as well as it uses google maps and shows where all the nearby trails are. Trail descriptions and conditions are just a tap away and you can get info on individual trails of whole trail networks. It's a great tool for planning where you're going next. Map regions are downloaded on a country basis and are extremely comprehensive. I've found some great trails off the beaten track I would have otherwise passed. They even have some race routes to help you train for next year. Trail regions are very easily updated and downloads, even initially, are really small. Trail maps can be viewed in really bad reception and have really saved me a bunch of times after taking a couple of wrong turns. It's a great app and an absolute must for your next mountain biking holiday, or even just finding those trails around home you never knew existed.

No thanks. A user updated app that’s behind a paywall?

Charges me for pro but doesn’t work. Warning this is incredibly buggy and barely works. Got stitched up on a ride by this not working and had to re buy the subscription - then I’ve just been told it’s going to renew as if it has been live. It has not. Tried everything to get it to go on this ride and nothing worked, but they were happy to charge me for it! So that’s good. Their billing seems to work perfectly which is fantastic. Just the actual app does not.

Unsuitable for purpose yet trailforks obstruct account deletion. I found this app unsuited for purpose and requested account deletion and have deleted the app. However trailforks are instructional putting up barriers to deleting the account. It is ironical that anyone can open an account t without ID and other information but trailforks create such obstacles to close an account. I didn’t really use the account so there is no data I wish for them to keep. I now feel there is ulterior motive to force me to keep my account open despite deleting the account!

Sub based greed. Love the app, paid for a year to put it through its paces and love it. However, subscription based fee structure makes it a grossly over priced app over time, and I will not be renewing. If a once off payment for lifetime Pro was an option, I would seriously consider paying it. Really disappointing how greed trumps all.

Love it. Love it it’s really good for everything holding and biking I do wish that i didn’t have to pay but the app works fine without paying anyway.

Subscription. Once you sign up you can’t seem to cancel the payments. I’ve tried everything I can but unless someone knows how to cancel the subscription for good that would be of great help.

Didn’t give me pro after I paid for it. I decided to pay for pro thinking that it was monthly and I got charged the annual fee and it didn’t give me what I paid for. Please fix this issue.

Can’t load photos and details on trails (pro). As a pro subscriber for few years I can’t believe app is not able to load details of trails such as photos, ride logs, and etc

Use to be good. Spent the time creating local trails. Uploading trail logs photos etc and ensuring this were up to date. Only to be now blocked from viewing the content I created behind a new paywall. Not very nice Trailforks!

Good for finding your way. Useful for finding your way around the trails and seeing the typography of what’s ahead. App crashes every time you try to add a photo to a trail…. Frustrating!

The price is worth it. For those complaining of paying for something that was free, it’s time to accept that it’s not free to develop apps, they are either selling your data, selling ad space or providing a cheaper product because they aren’t making money on free services. hopefully with an income being generated they will start adding more features or improving current ones. Gamification would be a great start, especially for improving trail maps which, at least in my areas, seem a little out of date.

Features taken away without notice. I’ve been using this app for 2 years with the ability to see trails anywhere in my state. But then when I got a new phone and the app upgraded it now only let me choose a city sized square of map or pay for Pro at $36 each year. I’d rather the app just included MTB advertisements instead of forcing to subscribe.

Update didn’t fix the issue. I was instructed to update the app to hopefully fix my issue of the app just shows the trail forks loading page. I am not sure what to do. It did not work and I can’t find a contact detail for support. If that could be provided in a developed response. I tried to contact you via the “contact developer button” in the App Store but it did not work. Please try to figure out this issue!!

Bugs. Every email I use to try to register an account is already used. How is this possible when they are my email accounts and I definitely haven’t registered any on Trailforks previously. But that being said, the trails and descriptions on the app fairly accurate. Used it to find some trails I didn’t realise existed

Pro not working for me.... Hi there, love this app, it’s a life-saver on trails and great for planning. I’m fully in support of your new plan to user-pay for features, however I’ve subscribed to this and can’t see many extra features, and I keep getting messages to upgrade to Pro - this is puzzling. Can you please contact me to resolve as I font want to pay a subscription if I’m not properly receiving the service/ all the benefits. I can’t find another way to communicate with you - I’d just like it if you could sort this out for me please.

Good MTB map app. Good mapping app for planning rides. Ok at recording rides and strava compatibility works well. I no longer use this for recording rides though, as there is no Apple Watch compatibility, no auto pause, no heart rate recording. Which to me means strava wins hands down. Trailforks is a good app to have in your back pocket in case you get lost on a ride.

Apple Watch?. Where’s the Apple Watch support? I want to be able to leave my phone in the car when I MTB.

Paid For Pro, Lost All Trails. Was using the free version and was very happy. Since upgrading and paying for Pro, All my local trails have disappeared from the map. Only shows 20% of trails it used to.

Paid for pro but still only free features. In the account settings it says I have paid pro subscription yet it’s only the free features. What a joke. Good luck getting money back

Works great with Garmin Fenix. Add the Trailforks app to your Garmin Fenix and you can download Trailforks routes straight to your watch. Saves them as a course. Awesome functionality, you get great routes and can still track the activity. Nice one!

Possibly the worst app I’ve ever downloaded. So updated to pro, happy to pay. CANNOT log in because it keeps telling me that the email I’m using has an Outside account. I don’t even know what an Outside account means. Tried using various emails to create a new account and keep getting the same message even though I’m using an email address I’ve literally just set up! The “help” messages are pointless, they just keep telling me to do the same thing which results in the same outcome i.e still not able to log in. Of course the full payment is upfront so even if I cancel my subscription I still loose my money. Not impressed

It is good. It is free u idiot

No Apple Watch app. Great app, but no Apple Watch app is a massive let down

Excellent. Trailforks has everything you need. Go somewhere, it tells you where to ride, and gets it right within a few metres. Cheap as chips for what you get. Love it.

Poor subscription structure. I’m sick of these apps wanting to charge an ongoing subscription for us to use their services. I’m not going to leave a subscription running for the few times a year that I need to use the app outside of the free zone. And I’m unlikely to bother subscribing and cancelling every time I want to use it also. Can’t you just charge a one off fee for use of the maps? I don’t want any other feature than to just view trails.

Can’t restore Pro Subscription. I upgraded to the Pro Subscription a few years ago and was told this would be for life. Now it seems I have to pay $3/month. It’s a great app, but not following through with the promise for ‘Pro for Life’ is pretty annoying.

Grinding halt. Really liked the app when it surfaced years back and I’m totally supportive of paying for development with subscription etc, but just spent far too long trying to navigate the app to get a feel for any potential value added by subscribing, then reverted to the reviews to convince myself, but didn’t look promising at all so I’ll just be planning on paper from here on and use my trusty pocket earth app to track my off track shenanigans and to navigate me back to civilisation when things get unfamiliar.

Removed features from free version.. Trailforks is a great app that I have used regularly. Although not enough to warrant paying the subscription for the pro features. I generally always tried to support the app by making reports on trails to keep info current. As of the last update it appears that many of the features previously available in the free version have been changed to pro features. I understand developers need to be paid for their work and I was considering upgrading for some upcoming travel so I had access to more maps, but this underhanded tactic of crippling an app in the hopes that people will pay more won’t work on me. Lost a contributor and a customer. My star rating is based on what the free version offers now.

Must have for mtbers. Best way to discover new tracks and best places to park and which way to ride. So so good can’t understate how cool it is to find trails in your area you didn’t even know were there and instead of going through the pain of figuring it out the hard way it’s all laid out for you!

Can’t access account. Used to be good but now it’s a total pain to access. You can sign with google in the browser not the app, where’s the sign in with google button people?

This app is soo awsomeee. It’s so accurate and it’s perfect for a mountain bike rider or even just riding with mates it’s an app I have been waiting for ages so glad it’s been made ❤️ Only thing it needs is bug fixes !!

Why trail forks is amazing. Trail forks is the reason for me to get up in the morning, I love to caress my screen thinking of the beautiful black and blue trails running through my phone. I plan to get into a sexually orientated realationship with trail forks, it has improved my navigating ability drastically, thank you trail forks 🙏🙏🙏💋💋👨🏿‍🦰

Map. Very helpful got me out of a lot of sticky situations

Pro subscription doesn’t work. It’s a good trail app for around my area but I tried to get pro but nothing happened and now I can’t restore my subscription

Pro subscription is terrible!. Paid for a couple of years, can never log on via the app, keep changing passwords, unable to give feedback via the app, says to press the reactivate Pro button but there isn’t one!!! Waste of money. Pity because the app itself is good but I cannot get any help. Needs better updates. Won’t even let me choose my stars for this review and won’t let me pick any random nickname!

Initially awesome but.... Great first two weeks using this -found local trails- loved it BUT then “get Pro” pops up and dont seem to be able to use it unless I sign up- probably would have made that choice anyway- but got locked out- and ‘forced to make that choice’ marketing need to figure out how real people actually think.

Great for tracking rides. I like this app, but wow does it ever pester you to upgrade. If you subscribe then I guess you don’t have to deal with it, but for more occasional users then maybe you want to look at a different app.

Broken. Unable to record rides and view in ride log

Great App. I would like to support this app buy getting the pro version but only if it was not a subscription based

Garbage on iOS. This app sucks on iOS, full location permissions, set for all the time, precise location allowed, full subscription and I still get disconnected from the gps and the only thing that ends up being accurate is the time. Will be switching for next season

Needs an Apple Watch app. Nice to have access to the all the trails but would be really handy to not have to put you phone out every couple minutes to see exactly where the trail entrances are. Don’t want to risk these $1000+ phones by trying to mount to handlebars.

Extremely buggy but unfortunately best available option. - Unstopped background process drains battery (make sure to disable background activity) - Wishlisted rides never appear onwish list - Saved rides can’t be seen for delayed periods - Video counter for rides is not correct (e.g. show that there’s a video but none are listed) In addition to the bugs the UX is lacking basic functionality like being able to filter out paved paths. Please get this stuff sorted or someone will extract your trail data and make a way better app. Your business isn’t that sticky.

Amazing app. Love the updates and the ability to share trail updates! Also love that I can now filter for trail runs and hikes as well! Nice work Trail forks!

Top Stud App. Awesome app for tracking your rides and discovering new trails. Works really well even when you don’t have service.

Don’t sign up to Pro with Connect with Apple. Make sure you create a Trailforks/Outside account and use it to sign up to Pro. If you sign up with Connect with Apple, it’s impossible to access the features of Outside/Gaia GPS etc since they don’t use Connect with Apple. And their profile management system doesn’t allow to reset or create a password without a prior password, which Connect with Apple doesn’t generate. Fractured system. Requesting a refund.

Just go free. Stop trying to rape people’s money

Oh Trailforks, how far you have fallen. Pretty much every feature has been blocked behind a pay wall. It is now little better than OpenStreetMap

Make it impossible to cancel!. I’ve tried multiple times to cancel this app! It keeps directing me to “outside “ but outside says you have to manage subscriptions from the app you registered with… garbage! So much for supporting pike bike or Trailforks… other apps are an easier choice going forward! Stop allowing unchecked reoccurring subscription charges without approval!

Sign up now needed. One of the recent updates now requires creating an account. Tired of apps requiring this and tracking us. Deleting it.

Zoom in ability. Would be nice to have trail names increase in size when zooming in. Tough to see for us visually impaired without reading glasses

Terrible. Trailforks is glitchy and full of bugs. AllTrails app is the way to go.

Waste of time in Emergency. I was out riding a dirt bike today. No experience using this app Come across a lady who is looking for her son in need of emergency services. I have a phone with Trailforks and she knows the trail name… perfect. The app was able to find the trail, I think… but the screen is sooo dark it’s impossible to see in the day light where I am supposed to go. A kid suffered in the forest today. A bone protruding from his ankle because you want me to upgrade to PRO, so my screen isn’t dark? Gaia is free, great, and was able to point me in the right direction Shame on your greed. If there’s a brighter screen version for next emergency let me know Thanks

Excellent app. A must have for mountain biking.Simply amazing.

Best thing to happen to MTB since…. …dropper posts and modern tires. Yeah, giving your money to Outside sucks, but it’s worth it.

Can’t login. Downloaded app and tried to login using my EXISTING outside ecosystem password. Wasted 15 minutes; it never let me log in. The app seems full of bugs

Great for mountain and gravel rides.. Be sure and download the areas you are traveling to before you hit those trails. This app is great!

Paywall. I remember when trial forks was launched and it being free was one of the selling points and a reason given why other apps failed. You could access the data for free because the data was submitted for free.

Fab. Every MTBer should have this handy

Used to be better. It is always buggy but it works pretty well but now every time you try to do anything you need Trailforks pro, even just to search.

Kind of useless. Map never downloads. Continuous failed to sync errors.

Super for Mtn biking. Best app for navigating and locating Mtn bike trails. And nice to see more communities are putting their paved urban pathways up on Trailforks. Works great even when no cell signal. Able to download all states, provinces & countries as a subscriber…so worth it!!! I use it all the time.

Trail forks pro. I’m paying for this but it get pro keeps popping up. I am not able to restore and fix the issue. What is going on there and why can’t you fix this bug, now I’m just on black screen all the time.

After two years, no more.. From $36 a year to $53.90 for subscriptions. Too much for what it is. Users upload trails, pictures, conditions and difficulties. Not going to pay over $50 for a blue line on a screen when the trail map at the head can be photographed.

Does not work. Signed up for pro and the app does not work at all after spending $30. Went for a ride yesterday and the app would not even show the maps and kept asking me to sign up for pro again. There is no customer service or anyway to ask for help. Not sure what to do?

Cancelled Pro. Cancelled my sub. Not worth paying for until the bugs are worked out and an Apple Watch App is provided. Looking elsewhere for something similar.

Paywalled a bunch of previously free features. No photos, videos, ratings, popularity or reviews all of a sudden? This is all user sourced data, and they have the audacity to make you pay for it? Also, the generic AI response to this isn’t even related to what I said. Do better Trailforks

Missing trails. I’m sure lack of permission for some trails stops them appearing, but maybe have a different colour or dotted, for obviously used but not fully sanctioned trails. This happened with partridge hills for a while, then they disappeared, and now they’re back. If a trail appears on heat maps, and open street map, it’s a trail, and I’d really like those to appear.

Is this a real app?. Can’t open it. Keeps asking me the same starter questions over and over such as download your region. Did that 8 times. Then register. Did that 8 times. Still can’t use it? Must be Somali d of spam app

No watch app?. Great app for iPhone, but very disappointed that there is not an Apple Watch app, especially given the price.

Paid and doesn’t work. Paid $60 for Trailforks pro and I still can’t see the map and still says that I need to purchase another membership…No contact info to reach them…way to go guys! Out of budget are you?

Highway robbery. I understand the need to pay for databases, updates and such but a monthly sub for content provided by your user base? Shame on these developers. Bunch of buffoons.

Can’t download my region. Can’t seem to download my region (BC), no clue why

Still my favourite MTB trail guide. Very detailed descriptions of many rides and the most up-to-date information available

Simply the best. Best maps for MTB

No Apple Watch support. There is no app for the apple war so this gets a low review.

Pretty bad for THE mtb trail app. UI is outdated and buggy. The app is missing some features from the website like routes creation (not that the website is any better). Just look at what AllTrails is doing with its snappy and reliable app. Major updated needed.

Won’t open after download / delete & download. This app after downloading displays an error when trying to open. After following instructions to delete & re download, the error continues. Poor debugging / developer testing.

Must have resource for a mtn biker. This is an invaluable tool for mountain bikers. I use it daily. From navigation, ride logs and planning rides, and day dreaming of future rides Worth every penny.

Yes. Wicked awesome

Doesn’t download regions. Was looking forward to using this for cycling however the region I am in (Ontario CA) doesn’t load and therefore none of the trails show up, Just a map of the streets. Useless.

Very buggy but still a good app. If they fix the bugs this app would be epic! Badges dont work correctly. App crashes when adding photos.

I can’t update my email. ^^ and thus I can’t log in to the web version. Because if this I am not getting the security emailed link for login. Useless app.

Great but the Strava upload sucks. Great app I pay for Pro. Do I really need to? Good question. I guess I like convenience. Upload of activity from Strava to Trailforks sucks tho.

Subscription plus advertising. Most apps are one or the other. This take over by Outside fkng blows. Canceling this garbage.

Doesn’t save rides. Upload rides sometime takes days if at all. Only after a manual sync will it add to your ride log(maybe) Very glitchy for an app that use to be free, I now subscribe to pro and it’s not worth it. This app is used on my IPhone 13 Pro.

Must have. Great app if you travel. Also helps navigate you when you’re in new trails.

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!

Great app, but…. It’s a great app don’t get me wrong and especially with all the trails it has in which other apps don’t have, but without the subscription it limits a lot and I mean a lot of trails except for the trails really close to you.

Good for explaining new MTB trails. Very good website and iPhone app. Would like to see an iWatch version and auto-pause

Glitchy and unreliable. The better of many not great choices. Features often don’t work well.

Buggy. Ever since I got the “early adopter” pro account, I have periodically had trouble logging in. Now I can’t log in through my Apple ID to my pro account and the options to contact someone for help are non-existent. It’s frustrating because I payed for the service and can’t use it. Guess I will try to find a different app to use for mountain biking.

Freezes all the time after last update. I have seen the app freeze when trying to look at ride logs. Also at other random times that I haven’t been able to pinpoint yet. The update messed something up.

Unusable without a subscription. You get a free trial if there pro version which is great if you want to try it out. I’d recommend it as a way to see if you’ll like it. I don’t think the app is bad, but I wouldn’t pay when MTB project is free and just as good (but with less pictures)

Great app, needs watch version. Great app to use, but it really needs an Apple Watch version to be able to quick glance at the trail map without pulling phone out of backpack.

Discover feature completely broken. The discover feature no longer shows trail in the current map area. Literally the feature I use the MOST. Makes this app fairly useless for me, and I won’t be renewing pro if it’s not fixed :(

It’s ok. The app is an OK front end to the website but you can’t do much. I like to create routes and the website is the best I’ve used for that. However the app is impossible create or contribute to the community. Awesome website, terrible app

Review. It would be so nice if when you are enlarging an area to rename of trail if the trail name didn't shrink back down automatically

Steady decline. I’ve been using this app since it’s inception and it’s been mostly great. Lately the app closes down or doesn’t record my routes. I’ve reached out to support and all the say is “delete and reinstall” the app. Fix your app or I’ll stop using it

Since the latest update…. The app doesn‘t record full rides anymore, I also can‘t pause and resume without losing the first part of my ride. Very annoying! Now I don‘t know if I‘m improving or not.

This app used to be great. Now it’s garbage.. It has annoying tool tips, a confusing “pro” monetization scheme that seems to consistently forget that I paid for the pro mode and now it crashes about twice per minute. Whoever authors this app should really stop trying to make it better. It used to work quite well.

Please fix your bugs. Trying to change my password and emails never arrive. Hit the “Send Feedback” button in the app and nothing happens. This is basic functionality that should work

My subscription is going to renew?. That’s a fun alert to get, since after subscribing it has constantly booted me out and not let me back in. Phone number? No good. Link to customer service? Site has been moved. This is my first zero star review. Unfortunate I had to put a star in order to write. I WANT MY MONEY BACK.

A must have for all mountain bikers!. I’m amazed at the trail coverage this app provides & wouldn’t do a ride without it. It’s by far one of my most used iPhone apps.

Not worth having. Since you went to pick an area. You are not worth having as l travel and used to be able to do new trail, many of which have no maps or markers as you travel them. Now I get it all free through another service

Good for some stuff lacking on others. Best app to find and explore trails. I really like the Summer and Winter layers. I do wish it would interface directly with Apple Fitness and/or Health and that I could connect my fitbit tracker to it

Best hiking tool. Why? Because it actually shows the color of the trail; no guessing like alltrails. Much better tool!

MTB. Easily the best MTB app out there. I’ve tried multiple other apps and the functionality of trail forks is hands down #1. Keep up the great work!!

Lack of support. Paid for a pro subscription and never recognized it. Tried to restore subscription but gives me a error. Then tried to contact the help center and can’t load messages. Thanks for taking my money and not giving me a subscription. Save your money and use MTB Project

No Apple Watch App. Love the app on my phone, but am seriously disappointed in how i am paying for a premium subscription and Trailforks has still not come out with a dedicated app for Apple Watch so I can view where i am in my trail network without pulling out my phone

Great content, but another subscription.... The map data is awesome and it's very helpful to see where all the trails are. Subscription fatigue's got me frustrated. I don't need another thing to subscribe to.

Last couple updates have been terrible. Choose whatever units you want, it’s only going to show metric. Sometimes. Search function seems less reliable. Slow. Disappointed that I’m still paying money for this app.

Amazing. I now know where many trails are it is so helpful and easy to use!! Hope to add more soon!!!!!

Awful. The worst experience I have ever had! I cannot delete my account and next day comes they charge me for subscription I never asked for! I really didn't like the trail find system on this app! Its very difficult to delete your account once you get it ! Instead of star I give it 5 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

Frustrating. I have the paid version. Why is there no Apple Watch app? You have garmin yet no Apple Watch. Makes no sense!!! I don’t use a garmin edge device either when mountain biking as there is no room on my stem and frankly don’t want to worry about it falling off. So if you can do garmin watch then person what about Apple Watch???!!!

Good but no support for pro. Not even a response. I pay for pro and mostly like the app. But, when I swapped the linked Strava account it purged all of my ride logs on Trailforks. There’s no help articles, I’ve emailed multiple times. Not even response to tell me nothing can be done. This data is important to me. I’ve lost hundreds of ride logs.

Nice to have. If only it would turn by turn guide you like Suri in your car… ;)

Great..but. Super handy to be able to pull up a trail on this app. Signing in on multiple devices and resetting passwords is a frustrating mess. I’ve considered deleting the app over this one issue.

Targeting cookies. I don’t like every time I login or open the app I have to accept All cookies, including targeting cookies. Then, I go to cookie choices to uncheck targeting cookies. Every time. So, I don’t use the app unless I have time to do that.

My go to for MTB. This is my go to app to plan my rides. The map database is second to none. Just needs to add watch support for helping to navigate intersections. Feels like it’s so close to perfection.

Great app ruined by paid barrier. Once a great app ruined by corporate greed. Was my go to app for biking trails and routes to take. Also, provided conditions. So much better than other apps. But now, it’s useless unless you pay for the subscription. At least add more than one time for “free zone”.

Best Map For Singletrack. I’ve searched the world over for the best map to make routes for mountain biking specifically, and no other compares to TrailForks.

Apple Watch App Please!. Trailforks is amazing, the only thing holding it back from 5 stars is that we need an Apple Watch App!

Decent but better free apps are out there. Way too congested as it is and news is they are going to continue adding more "features". No thanks. Refine what you have now before making a larger mess.

Keep Screen On Stopped Working. Been using the app for 4 months. Every release seems to have a new bug. Keep screen on in settings no longer works on the iPhone Pro Max. Useless app if I have to unlock the screen every 30 seconds to figure out where I’m going.

Ok, but definitely not worth paying for. As so many have already stated, this app isn’t the best but okay. Definitely not worth spending money on when there are other apps that work better and for free.

I got fleeced. I bought trail forks pro, I go in the app and try to look at some trails and guess what? They are still blocked by a pay wall and it says “get trail forks pro to access this info” or something like that, took my 55 bucks and left me with half an app. Pretty lame, i want my money back

Great app. I always go the TrailForks before traveling to look for trails to see if I should bring my bike.

Disappointed. I came back to this app after a couple years to see what i could find locally, and was VERY disappointed to find quite literally everything hidden behind a paywall. If I wanted to pay for genuine backcountry maps I would buy OnX. Pinkbike keeps getting worse.

Helpful app. However I am not going to use the app year round so would like to see a monthly membership option. I’m not interested in the annual membership at the price being charged.

Lost without it!. Great app for all outdoor activities. Been a user since beta testing. 👍🏼👍🏼 Highly recommend to anyone looking to plan outdoor rides, hikes, snowmobiling etc…

Font Issue. I love the ap, it’s awesome, but I don’t like the highlighted outlined font on satellite view. It’s too hard to read.

Awesome App. I use Trailforks with my Garmin watch to log every MTB ride. Trailforks is awesome to find new trails and to build my own routes. Highly recommended

Why no Apple Watch support?. Curious as to why there is no Apple support. Would be very nice to have the ability to start and stop recordings as well as ability to track position on watch with having to dig out my bulky phone to use those features. Otherwise it fairly useful to research rides in new areas.

Trail forks. Hands down best way to get around and explore. I use this app on the Oregon timber Trail for 20 days and it did not fail me

Fine app, needs watch companion to be useful. Really needs an Apple Watch app for navigation, makes it 90% less useful for me to not have turns during rides. It’s all about new areas, and pulling out my phone at every junction ain’t it

Great App. I use Trailforks Pro to navigate MTB trails in multiple States. It’s a fantastic resource to plan your trips and to find out where you are during a ride

Subscription management seems broken. Could never get application to recognize my purchase of pro. Ended up having to pay the whole subscription a second time through the outside website to get anything to work
