Learn 33 Languages with Mondly Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

My personal opinion. This app is fairly good, a little pricey month to month, but if you’re like me and you really care about investing into language learning then you wait until you see the “lifetime deal” and make that purchase off of impulse. Anyways, the lifetime deals are always worth it, trust me. I personally enjoy this apps way of teaching, it’s fun and it’s not bad at helping me remember stuff. I believe that the review for each sections in regards to vocab should be flash cards instead of swiping up or down to the correct one. Maybe there is that option and I just haven’t seen it, but I like flashcards way more for reviews. Anyways I used to use this app for Japanese andIt wasn’t bad but then I switched over to another platform that is far superior for Japanese than any other app. However, this app is really good for Spanish, I’ve been using it for Spanish and over certainly enjoyed it so far. I realistically want to give it four stars, but not because it’s bad, it’s just different than what I’m used to, but it is one of the best for practicing your speaking, at least compared to something like duo lingo. This app deserves 5/5 for the speaking portions.

It does work. It’s a very well put together app and is currently a core part of my daily study routine. It’s been a very long time since I’ve used Rosetta Stone, but if asked to compare, I’d say Mondly is better. There are really no cons or problems to the app itself that I’ve come across. The only major issue I’m having is that voice recognition sometimes has some serious trouble, but I very much suspect that has to do with the phone’s voice recognition software and not Mondly. One thing will praise them for is having Latin. Most language learning software companies ignore the language and I’ve come across several people looking to learn Latin in the past few weeks. I’ve been able recommend Mondly for that. Had this been a thing when I was in high school, I absolutely would have used it for my Latin class.

One of the best teaching apps on the market. I am a private voice specialist and very often we work in foreign languages. This is absolutely one apps of the best that I’ve ever seen for education and recreation. I wanted to take the time to explain why I feel this way, for one thing I work with students who were on the autistic spectrum with great gift for music and left brain activity. This is fantastic particularly the virtual reality feature to be able to get my students attention and get them retaining the information. I also like that there are so many free features. The app is affordable at $10 a month, and I personally to keep myself polished on my language skills love the text conversation option. Whoever created this understands how the brain works and that education is very personalized. I think this opens a lot of doors to folks that maybe would get frustrated with the apps that only teach one way. I can only see this product improving as time goes on. And have high hopes for the future. Very best, Jen Vanella

For Tagalog/Filipino. I upgraded to the paid version today and I’d like a refund. The app doesn’t properly explain why certain words need to be there and sometimes the audio doesn’t even match the words. There are places where it will have one word and say a whole sentence. There are others where it reads a different word. With the lack of explanation for everything, I’m unable to tell which words are correct or why I’m supposed to be saying certain words. I’m also not a fan of how the app doesn’t really work previous words into the new lessons. It seems like you either need to make your own flash cards or go through and repeat the same set of phrases in the same order. Another frustrating situation I’ve run into is when you make too many mistakes on the lesson (which, again, there is no guide or notes prior to the lessons) it doesn’t tell you the correct answer for the final question you’ve made a mistake on. Even if it did, I’m not sure it would stick with you long enough to make it back to that point. I don’t feel like it is helping you to become fluent, but rather just memorizing phrases. The free lesson made me feel hopeful for the program, but the following lessons leave a lot to be desired. For a company that has so much money from selling education material, this program sure is a let down.

Just out of the box…. I’m giving Mondly a second chance and starting from the beginning in their Thai lesson series. It’s generally good (I’m an advanced beginner level) with the caveat that it’s developed for English speakers who, for some reason, require a way to say “good morning/afternoon” even though exactly nobody says that in Thailand. I know they’re just filling up the learning engine, but c’mon… A big plus for me is that the Romanization of Thai script is an option and I can avoid being distracted by a character set my brain is more familiar with. This lets you learn to read and listen from the very beginning. Props, too, for the lesson structure. They’re fun and short without being too gamified. Update: The app can’t work with a language like Thai where there are gender forms of personal pronouns like Thai. They’re hard coded into the examples so you can’t just say: Use the male form. This is an issue because 90% of the examples use the female form which doesn’t apply in my case. Also, there are a number of examples that use word-for-word translation of English. “We would like a pot of tea.” For example, that would never be used in spoken Thai. The app will also start using words in the examples that haven’t yet been defined. The lesson I just finished defined “grandfather” one way but then immediately started using a different way to say it. Like dropping from informal to very formal.

Excellent App!. This is a great app. It has plenty of useful phrases and vocabulary. It is also very challenging to make perfect scores which I enjoy. The only disappointment is the nouns are not taught with the definite article, Die, Der, Das. Whoever believed that the definite article was not essential in this App did you and your users a disservice. In German, learning the definite article with each noun is critical to being able to write and speak correctly. I am an intermediate learner, fortunately I know what indefinite article corresponds to the definite article. However, repetition of seeing the correct definite article with its noun cannot be overstated! I can name a number of apps and programs that also did not have the definite article with the noun and I deleted them or did not use them for that reason. The best thing about the app is the ability to create conversations for speaking practice. That is the most useful. Needless to say, adding the definite article would make this the most comprehensive language app on the market. Btw, the AR app is superb. It is just too easy and without the definite article. Can a user change the level from Beginner to Intermediate or intermediate to advanced after the initial setup has been done? Thank you and look forward to your updates since I did purchase a one year premium!

Good app for adult learners, studying Latin. Studying Latin now after purchasing the app. Was using the beginning version for Latin. I don’t see the differences between beginning, intermediate, advanced Latin lessons except more typing/spelling for Latin which is not too fun.. Also, the point system is off. The daily lessons seem to get maximum points. I purchased the app which appeared to open up all the vocabulary lessons covering specialized topics such as travel, food, family. First, they appear to be the same things I learn in the daily lesson and second the point system is motivating to me but the vocabulary lessons have fewer points for more work. Do I have to get asked for a rating every other day though I purchased the app. Can you keep track that people have already rated the app? I started at a five rating with this app, am at a three now and think it will continue to decline. The more I use the app, I learn that it is soo repetitive. I think I completely get that “animal” in English and Latin is the same word and am always getting quizzed on it...I wish that the intermediate/advanced versions progressed into different tenses/grammar. Thx for a good app, it’s a reasonable price I think.

Amazing Customer Support!. I’ve been using Mondly to dust off my rusty Finnish, using a premium subscription. After several months, I was locked out of all premium features, so I contacted support. They worked with me for eight days, trying one thing after another. They finally had developers manually sync my account, and they renewed my subscription for another year on top of that. They didn’t give up until the problem was fixed and encouraged me to keep them updated each step of the way. I was blown away! What I like about the app itself: The variety of ways used to teach and reinforce new vocabulary & skills, like grammar, is very effective. The simple point system and stars are just enough of gamification to keep me going; I've found myself using the app for an hour or more. (It’s so easy to just one more lesson because they’re so short!) And it’s awesome to find an app with Finnish, a rarity. There are a few vocabulary quibbles and such that I’d change (usually due to translation/meanings not quite but lining up with English), but they’re minor. At each step in every lesson, you can send a report, and I’ve seen some issues totally resolved after reporting a language issue. I definitely recommend it!

Goodish/Nags you to review with paid subscription. Im reviewing because it keeps asking me to review and since i already paid i don’t see it quitting any time soon. If you care about the app it’s good. Still missing some things. Needs more diverse grammar. Mostly simple sentences in present tense. Also they took out a feature where you can swipe letters to form a word as a type of question. You have to type a really tiny letter exactly on the center in order for it to register. The other types of questions are pretty ergonomic and easy though. A big plus. Overall get the app for the daily lessons they are good. The app could use a better interface. You cant really look up any vocabulary in a timely or efficient manner. You can search words but you must go through a lesson to maybe see it used in context. And it also takes forever at the end of a lesson to continue on learning. You have to wait for the animated brain to finish loading and showing you almost useless data. Beginner to advanced modes don’t really change in content. You just have to type stuff out more in the advanced mode. But i like how each level of difficulty has a separate level of completeness in the lessons. Although i wish there was an option to merge. Pros: good vocabulary. Free Daily lessons. Other good stats. One of the better options for learning multiple languages. Cons: could teach more grammar. INefficient interface! Nowhere to review vocabulary.

For beginners learning isn’t easy. It never is easy to learn a new language from scratch with no experience. I’m currently learning it because the company I’m working for is owned by a Korean company. Learning just to communicate with everyone would be cool I think. I also would like to visit sough Korea I think that would be an interesting trip. I’m only day two and I can say I’m impressed with what they have and the lesson and the way they teach. You feel like your almost just thrown in there at first but if you don’t get it they’ll walk you through it step by step in the hands free section. I would 100% recommend this to anyone I just started so I might find some negatives but not yet. There have been issues with mic picking up different things I’m saying but that’s bound to happen that can’t be perfect.

Overall great - just a few tweaks needed. I’ve been eager to learn Spanish formally so when I saw a deal on HuffPost for a lifetime subscription to Mondly for about $40, I grabbed it. Overall I’ve been very pleased with the app. I like the range of lessons available (daily, grammar, lots of different categories). I like the competitive piece of it too, and the bonuses for doing at least one lesson each day. My only quibbles are that it’s unreasonably picky about correct answers and there isn’t quite as much conversation as I’d like. An example of the pickiness is that it asks to translate “Que clase de habitacion desearia?”; I translated it as “what type of room would you like?” And it dinged me because the correct answer was “what room type would you like?” It would be great if there were alternate correct responses. In terms of conversation, it would be good if there were more opportunities for speaking practice in each lesson. I’d like it if there were times when there was a sentence in English and I had to come up with the correct Spanish phrase without a prompt, rather than just saying what I’m reading.

So much fun!!. I am addicted to this app. I tried it out for free, but got a subscription and have not once felt like I’m not getting my money’s worth. They are continually improving the app by adding more features and lessons. I have made Mondly a part of my daily language learning. I’ve found myself adding more languages and learning them more consistently. The daily lessons are prefect for me to be consistent with even a few minutes daily. And it’s so much fun!! Update: re-upped my subscription. Every once in a while there will be an odd mistake, but being told you answered wrong, then shown the correct answer is the word you picked. A few times there has been a completely different sentence or variation of a word being spoken than is given as the answer, but it’s very easy to report these issues and I’ve noticed that the ones I’ve reported have all been corrected regardless of which language. Still very fun app and I really think it’s helping me with my pronunciation.

This stuff work!!. Yooooo this app is crazy good and updated! Now with a hands free option that feels like a real teacher/tutor. The modules are easy going and quick to understand. I love being able to go back and repeat a single subject until it clicks!! This is for anyone really wanting to learn a language and is willing to put in some tune each day. Daily, weekly, and monthly quizzes optional but I also recommend doing those. Once you get into it you can check your “statistics” where it shows how much time you’ve invested overall, how many words youve reviewed, how many phrases you’ve reviewed, your level (based on the points you get from each activity), and a graph with the amount of points (I. E. Activities done) each day so you can see your progress. The community part makes it interesting to see how other people around the world or USA are doing! Super cool app overall

No Way to Cancel (updated). I liked Mondly and used it for a year membership. The problem was when I decided I didn’t want to renew. There is no method of shutting off the auto-renewal or cancelling membership. In the “settings” screen, then down to the “About” screen. Click on “Subscription info”. It says “auto-renewal may be turned off at any time by going to your settings in the iTunes Store after purchase”. Wrong. Mondly does NOT show up in my list of apps at the iTunes Store to cancel. I see “Lose It!”, Netflix, Apple Music, but no “Mondly”. This is showing on my bank statement as 2COCOM and nothing to do with Apple. I googled 2COCOM and it is a separate billing company. And they will not refund or cancel the auto-renewal. It also is not on my iPad settings / subscription list. THERE is NO way to CANCEL. Suggestions anyone? UPDATE: After putting up this review, I was contacted by Mondly and they did offer my money back - which I accepted. They said I was sent an email a week before the auto renewal - I didn’t see it but it could have went in my junk folder and was missed. They also offered an extra 6 months at no charge if I renewed.

It's good, for the kind of app it is. I actually think this is a pretty good language-learning app, especially for someone who's just starting out in a language or needs a refresher. You learn all the vocabulary in the context of a sentence, and you're required to type the answers and to say the answers at some moments, so you're not just listening and spacing out at the same time. The daily lesson usually only takes me about two minutes to do, so if you find yourself "slacking" while using other apps, this one might be more doable for you. The only reason I didn't give it a five star rating is because I feel if I were to give that to a language app, I'd want it to be something I considered fun, or looked forward to doing. I think this is a good app, but I don't feel those ways toward it. But that doesn't mean it's bad.

Terrible App. Even though I am very young I would like to warn you do not be fooled by the 4.8 star ratings. Mondly is a terrible app it will review words and phrases but only once I spend countless times trying to learn Latvian but only got frustrated it teaches you nothing do not waste your time on it doesn’t even teach anything useful not even grammar I have no clue how the app has such good ratings don’t waste your time reviewing words once that you wish forget in only a matter of time then be expected to fully know them so whatever you do to learn a new language don’t use Mondly. I can’t tell you how many times I have gotten so angry and wanted to toss things around because I was really trying to learn with mondly I was starting to feel like I wasn’t trying hard enough only to find out that there’s nothing wrong with me but this app is just terrible at teaching don’t waste your time to only get frustrated, angry, and have the urge to start raging. Please read this though this is very long and seems to be only insignificant out of the thousands of reviews I am young but I just need to warn you before you start feeling the same way I did.

Great software, however.... The software of this app is perfect, I have yet to find one flaw. My only critiques are that I don’t feel that this app is teaching me phrases to use realistically. I don’t feel that it adequately challenges nor teaches/explains grammar on a level where you can begin to put two in two together. When you make a mistake it docs you a star, and for you to receive 100% on the lesson you have to retake the entire lesson which makes the process frustrating and discouraging. I downloaded the trial version of Rosetta Stone and I was surprised and inspired by the contrast of their differences. Immediately Rosetta Stone enabled me to thoroughly understand why and what I was saying. It was not as easy but I felt that I learned more from a three day trial version of Rosetta Stone versus weeks worth of studying on Mondly. If Mondly Adopted more features similar to Rosetta Stone and I would be entirely satisfied.

A great language learning app. I love Mondly. It offers a wide range of languages to study. One may start at the Beginning, Intermediate or Advanced level. Lessons incorporate written (native or romanized) script, photos and auditory input. Practice is given in both native language to new language translation and new language to native language translation. Each lesson ends with a review. Larger weekly reviews are also given. Periodic pronunciation checks are sprinkled through the week’s lessons. The materials encourage the use of pragmatic contextual knowledge as well. It is possible to work back and forth between a standardized set of lessons and new daily lessons at each level. In studying a few different languages I have found that I was able to progress gradually and encouragingly. A pleasure to use.

American learning French. A fairly clear structure with good visuals and clear pronunciations. My goal is to read books in French, and this app seems more geared to travelers or business people visiting a French speaking country. I also feel it is more geared toward British English than to American English even though I specified American when I signed up. They use words like biscuit for cookie, holiday for vacation, etc. which gets a little confusing in some of the modules. Is a “cooker” a stove? Most Americans would never use the word cooker. And Americans spell color without the letter u. I have been using this app for three years and three months, and although they have added modules, i feel there is not enough explanation of verb tenses or conjugations. Some of the translations are too loose. It would be easier if they better explained them; for example an American would say “I need ___” whereas in French they say “I have need of ___”. That much I learned in high school, but it was not explained in the app. Small things like that can be very helpful. Colloquialisms (or what I take to be colloquial) are not explained at all. For example, the word cour translates as court, but the app uses it interchangeably with garden, (jardin) which is confusing. Users need to intuit a bit.

Functionality and layout are great, content needs improvement. I’ve been using Mondly for over a year to learn Danish. The app works well but I am constantly frustrated with the content. Questions requiring translation are not precise and words that have not yet been taught are included in questions. For example, in a lesson that taught the word “cafeteria” as being spelled the same in both English and Danish then asked a question requiring the user to translate “cafeteria” as “kantinen”, a word that hadn’t yet been introduced in any lessons. Other examples for poor translations are “Where can I make a call” turns into “Where is there a telephone”, “Is the post office far from here” is turned into “How long is it to the nearest post office”, and “Please do visit me sometime” is “You are welcome to visit me.” It would be far better if literal translations are used and words are introduced before they are included in translations.

Love this app!...except for the chatbot sections. I love this app when it comes to learning. The hands free style where I can practice speaking is amazing and I’ve been able to put into practice the kanji, katakana and hiragana I’ve been learning on my own (I recommend this program in addition to a book or another program to practice sentence structure). I love everything about it...except the chat bot sections. The responses I give don’t work with the bot (despite them offering me the sentence) and if I try to do another sentence (which sometimes is an option) it’ll count it all as one sentence. I don’t know how to “speak” a period into a sentence. It’s frustrating. Even more frustrating however are the repetition sections. I repeat the dialogue exactly as they ask me (it even is recorded the same) but they mark me as wrong for using hiragana instead of kanji for some words. How do you “speak” in hiragana vs kanji? The program never says it. They just repeat the same section over and over again and drive me insane. I love this app...except that part. Please adjust the chat bot sections to either teach how to use the dialect they’re asking you to use (slowing down doesn’t help when it’s the same sounds you’re using and you’re still getting it wrong), or make it a bit more lenient with foreign speakers trying to speak a language they are unfamiliar with. Beyond that I love the program and recommend it to everyone...except the chat bot sections.

Inaccurate translations.. First time using this particular language learning app. It told me to translate 彼は私の父です。The words it gave me were “This is my father.” I know it actually translates to “He is my father.” This is my father would translate to このは私の父です。So definitely not impressed with the app so far. It seems like if you want to use their app for free, then you have to sign up for a free trial that will start charging you monthly after the week. I wish there was a free version instead of just a free trial. It feels like they prefer to pressure you into buying their services instead of enticing you with a quality product. The app also doesn’t know the difference between English and American English. It called an apartment a “flat”. It’s set for American English but that word is definitely an English word. I wish I could hear a word again in a lesson but it only says it once and doesn’t give an option to hear it again.

Good for one user but not for more. This app has been great it getting started to learn Chinese. It walks you through slowly and has a great feature where you speak back the words to check your pronunciation. The problem is the billing and multiple user features are terrible. First I got charged for both a single month and a year package when I went from monthly to yearly. The next is I added additional users so my family could learn as well but we can’t figure out how they signin. You get pop ups stating for the other user to try it but there is no way to switch users or to have them sign in on their own device! Lastly I try to access my account via the app and you can enter your email address and there is a header for password but no way to enter it!

Needs some work on the Japanese.. I like the ability of a lot of repetition of words that the app is promoting. I don’t like the promoting of the same words in so many different lessons. I do like that I can go back and review lessons to get more exposure. I don’t like the seemingly over emphasis on imported “English” words or the conflict of spelling between various lessons. I despise the use of Romanized alphabet. At least provide the option to switch to the Kana. I don’t appreciate the switching of different words of the same meaning but very different spelling and pronunciation, (especially with Kanji) if there wasn’t an opportunity for first learning both words. There needs to be much greater effort with introducing new words and a gradual transition to Kanji. Both of the first two sections for grammar, demonstrate practically no grammar at all and are probably the most frustrating sections that I’ve worked in due to the heavy use of more complex sentences with totally new words in Kanji. There is a significant use of word conjugation with absolutely no explanation or preparation, considering that I’ve covered a lot of material. Finally, the hands free exercises need a lot of improvement. Many words it gets wrong and doesn’t even come close to what I say. I just quit using that option.

Super fun and effective! !! Better then DUOLINGO. Using this to learn Norwegian because I’m a huge fan of SKAM and have always wanted to travel to Oslo. Very fun app and makes learning less intimidating. On my first day with this app 20 minutes in I’m already breezing through the phrases. As someone with ADHD, the memory card aspect is really helpful and makes it a fun always game like learning experience. I also like the nice little dings it makes when you get a the right answer. I like the little interactive futuristic brain chart at the end of each section that shows you what words and phrases you’ve learned. Very well done. Adverts aren’t a problem either and I like that you all don’t have a time limit on how and when to learn. I think this is better than Duolingo for sure.

Started learning because a friend of mine spoke Bulgarian.... We thought it would be fun if both of us could speak it. Also to prank her family when I can understand what they’re saying in their native tongue. I’m four days into learning, and she’s already giddy with the progress I’ve made! Learning Bulgarian, which doesn’t seem to be the hardest so far. Learning is fun- it normally wouldn’t seem like it, but the colors, and other aspects of this app make it feel like a game. From each ‘level’ of a chapter, to the way the chapters are laid out on the screen makes it feel like you’re progressing your way through a game. I love this app- it’s honestly better than Duolingo. Thanks to the creators! Footnote: I may be biased because I’m currently being allowed to learn Bulgarian via this app rather than take my second year of Spanish- so, big win right there.

Please correct spelling for Vietnamese. Grew up with Vietnamese parents who didn’t teach me to read or write in the language but I speak fairly fluently. So I prefer to write responses to the app instead of speaking them to improve in the areas I need. I can spell the letter combinations of most words without a hitch but the Vietnamese tones can be tricky to decipher. My complaint is that the app will give my response as correct even though I’ve used the incorrect intonation mark. Maybe you could possibly fix it so that the correct answer shows up in addition to my “correct” response. This way, I can spot my mistakes. The reason I know that my “correct” responses are not correct is when I’ve typed in the last letter, I still have to tap the “check” button. When I’ve spelled it absolutely correctly, the answer will ding without me doing anything. Otherwise, Mondly is helping me rediscover my native language. App is so much better than when I first paid for it many many years ago and stopped using it shortly thereafter. They’ve greatly improved the listening and speaking functions. It’s so much more immersive and interactive than before. I know that Mondly is making my life better moving forward. I know I can finally visit Vietnam one day without being ashamed that I can’t read or write in my birth language. Shout out to Ioana at Mondly for helping me out with restoring my purchase.

Good but needs revisions. Overall this is a good app to learn common phrases and words in Farsi and it is enjoyable to use. However, it can be improved upon. For example there are sometimes two different words in the same lesson translated to the same English word when they should be different (beach and dock in one lesson, grass and weed- the lawn types not marijuana- in another). Also, for those trying to learn the script and the grammar, it would be so helpful if the written sentences and words stayed visible until they were released by the user. Instead they only stay visible for a second or two, making it impossible to sound out what is being said to comprehend the spelling or the grammar relationships. Some of the learning is by rote only, because the translation of a sentence is in the English structure only whereas if the Persian words were translated in order occasionally as well, you could pick up more accurately what the actual words mean and figure out the grammar more intuitively. Finally, many of the vocabulary words used are nearly the same as the English words. While this explains why I've always though my husband was speaking "Tex-Farsi", since those words are easily understood by English speakers, the app developers would do well to focus more on common words that will be unfamiliar-sounding and more important to learn.

Favorite Language App. this is genuinely my favorite language learning app, i love the number of languages available so much. i bought a premium subscription a few years ago and have access to all the languages offered, and i am so so glad i made that purchase. i started using mondly for its korean course, and now i use it for korean, polish, mandarin, french, and german. the hands-free lesson mode is also very useful and enjoyable, albeit a bit frustrating when the bot just Does Not interpret what you say. some of the phrases they teach should be broken down a bit more for pronunciation and comprehension's sake, in my opinion, at least in the "core vocabulary" section. all the new sounds in a new language can be overwhelming to try and pick out and spit back out to the bot when she only says it to you once, so i think offering the "one word at a time" option earlier on with phrases would be very, very cool. i also love the daily lessons so much, the vocab is always useful. solid 9/10, will always recommend

Great app but…. I got a great deal on the “unlimited access.” I can now learn any of the languages I want at the same time and switch back and forth…but then you have to buy a “premium account” to get to do more than 2 lessons. That requires a yearly subscription, which I was trying to avoid in the first place. After getting the Premium access, it says that Mondly Kids is free INSTEAD of $9.99/mo. When it takes you to download the app, you get 7 days for free AND THEN IT CHARGES YOU $9.99/mo. I like that you can access all of the daily, weekly and monthly quizzes but I wish you could look at and review old ones that you might not have gotten 3 stars on. I would like to look at my totals of previous weeks and not just the current weeks stats. I would like to be able to message other users. Could the normal lessons be worth more than 13 pts as they take twice as long as the daily lessons? I wish the points mattered more. I also don’t understand the graphics with the brain and the different color dots that light up.

Very good app. Every word is spoken, even for a lesser-known language like Latvian. There are pictures for each word, which helps with visual learners. A daily lesson is available each day, however that’s about all you can do with the free version. The paid version is a bit more expensive than other apps like Memrise and Ling, but it does provide A LOT. The pronunciation on each word is really beneficial to learning the language. With premium, there is a lot of content and you can do ALL previous daily lessons, even from years ago or simply if you miss a day. The website and app are glitch-free and clean, they are synced well (unlike Ling which doesn’t recognize if you did a lesson on the other platform and vice versa). Overall, Mondly is a good choice at least for lesser-known languages.

Good for beginners. The app itself is great for beginners. I like that you can add a person to your premium account for free. I like that the audio is clear and can hear me clearly. I like all the different options. The only thing I don’t like, and what will probably keep me from subscribing long term, is that you can’t start at any level but beginner. Like, it asked me what my Spanish level is, I said intermediate. But when I started, it gave me the most basic greetings and words. I already know how to conjugate verbs in the present and greeting people I learned in high school. So I upped it to advance level, but it was still super basic, didn’t seem to change at all. So either there’s no customization or Im just way better at Spanish than I and others think I am (believe me, I am not). There should be a test of some sort to classify you and tailor your learning accordingly. It’s gonna take too long to go through all of these lessons and get to the level I should be in. As such, I’ll be deleting the app before the trial ends. But as I said, if you start this as a beginner, it will probably be great.

Learning isn’t that easy with this app!. When comparing this app to other top language apps, it’s not that great. There was one positive that I liked, the voice lessons but a lot of times it doesn’t pick up the pronunciation that well. The lessons are not that great as it tells you to translate sentences that you have not yet learned all the words for and uses random little pictures to teach words. Also, the daily lessons are too randomized and I find they try to teach too many words and sentences that are not useful yet or too advanced for the beginner level. As an example, I chose to go through the “hello” lessons first to learn basic greetings. You would think the daily lessons would also choose this path or at least be a review of the lessons you learn but no, it started teaching me about artists, painting and random colors. This way of learning may be okay for some but is definitely not for me! I decided to go with Duolingo as I’m learning much better with that app.

Mondly. My trip to Greece years ago was wonderful. My ability to speak Greek even the few phrases I had mastered sounding authentic to the people. They were very surprised and appreciative. (See below for my first use of Mondly.) Now I’m reviewing my German anticipating working again with German speaking business people. The app is helping me to catch up quickly. I’m starting with the intermediate section and finding my memory coming back quickly. Mondly is an excellent tool! (Learning Greek) I’m really learning how to speak and read Greek. As a former language teacher I’m impressed that in 5 days I have learned lots of basic vocabulary as well as phrases that I will use in my coming travel to Greece. As well, the app is cleverly introducing the Greek alphabet. It combines pictures, audio and print. You are prompted to speak into a mike. Then the app reflects back what you say in writing. Using the color red when you’re wrong and white when you get it right. It works and it’s fun. An update: I’m on my 58th day now and continuing to learn daily. I still have a long way to go to be fluent, but I’ll be able to speak basic phrases and vocabulary when in Greece. I’ve noted that I’ve covered less than 10% of the app’s content so far. They have just updated the app to include more opportunities to speak and hear yourself converse. Very clever.

I’m so pleased!. I started with the limited (free) Persian app just to see the method, and see if I could learn this way (I’m rather dense when it comes to remembering phrases). I was enjoying it but there was no sound for part of the lessons. I wrote to Mondly and Georgiana explained exactly what was going on and how the full Mondly app was working correctly but the single language app hadn’t caught up, and that I could try the free Persian lessons in the main Mondly. Which I did and everything worked perfectly. I have now signed up for the full year, based partly on the excellent customer service— I know if I have any more problems I will get an immediate response. My only difficulty is that I don’t understand how some nouns can be a completely different word when used in a sentence and an explanation would be nice but it wouldn’t help me speak Persian any better.

Better Than Duolingo. Even using just the free tier, learning languages with Mondly is much better than with that infamous owl app. Mondly teaches you practical vocabulary applicable to everyday social situations. It goes beyond mere translation of contrived sentences by giving you the opportunity to listen to and participate in short, meaningful conversational dialogues using your own voice. I am studying Finnish with Mondly but have studied some of the language with books and other apps. I find the learning experience with Mondly very satisfying and look forward to each lesson. Due to the very complex nature of Finnish grammar, the app doesn’t so far seem to cover any topics related to important aspects such as vowel harmony, consonant gradation, grammatical cases, etc. My previous work in the language has helped me to recognize certain case endings of words in the various exercises in each language. Perhaps these topics will be addressed in later sections of the course. If not, no worries since I will continue studying Finnish grammar in the books I already own. No textbook can provide the interactive experience that an app like Mondly provides, however. So for that alone it’s worth the investment. Minä tykkään tästä ihanasta sovellusta! Paljon kiitos!

Quite happy so far but lacking grammar support. It’s early but I’m making progress with Afrikaans. Its best feature in my view is the use of recordings of native speakers rather than computerized voice synthesis (compare Duolingo, which by the way does not include Afrikaans) — or maybe it just has really good computers. I like the fact that much of the syntax and even vocabulary is taught implicitly rather than explicitly, but I am fortunate to have had high school German to guide me. Some ability to reference a formal description of the grammar would be extremely useful I think - some kind of context-sensitive link (a huge task for the developers I acknowledge). A second choice would be to enable attached comments from other learners/speakers, as does Duolingo. Those are sometimes inaccurate but usually self-corrected by the community and the discussion is useful. Still, on balance, I believe I will be a better speaker using Mondly than Duolingo — I can look up the grammar but Duolingo will never make me a natural sounding speaker.

Great app for speaking! Well done!. This is better than other language learning apps for actually speaking and practicing useful phrases! As with all apps, you’ll need other supplemental learning tools. There are still the occasional little things that aren’t perfect, but very minor. The mic hears completely different words sometimes, but it often gives you time to correct. It makes you really listen and speak, and that is the best! The hands free option is terrific! In English we say bookstore not bookshop. So that type of thing is really minor. Seems like it is US English usually so that is good, and I’d rather have weird English than weird Italian, so that’s fine. It is fun and educational. The competition piece could be better. It would be good to compare yourself to others with similar points, not to see scores that are way greater than your own.

Absolutely worth the money. I studied languages and speak a few, and this app is my favorite tool for learning Croatian. You can do small bite-sized lessons or more, and it gets you WAY more practice and vocabulary than other programs/apps (and I’ve bought a lot of them). You can slow speaker speed, and have a list to easily review vocab without re-doing the lessons. While I’m not far enough along to speak to how grammar is explained I REALLY like how you can highlight new words, and instantly see the infinitive and present conjugations, plus past and future. I take notes of these to review as I learn. If ONLY I had this app when I was stuck learning French in school! Also I had an issue with the app when I got a new phone. I reported this error from the app and got an email the NEXT DAY with a solution from a friendly and helpful person. Totally fixed!

Nice! XD. This is a neat app. After doing the free trial, I decided it was worth the investment to subscribe. There’s tones of lessons so I appreciate that. What I wish was included was lessons for learning non-Roman alphabet script/characters. It’s not a huge learning block for me personally because I can either figure it out by switching the script at the top right hand corner where the flags are, or just look up the alphabet online, but I think it would be a very helpful lesson to add. I also wish that there was some kind of discernment for what’s formal language and what’s casual for those languages that are applicable. I think that would also be helpful for beginner learners. What I do love most about it is that it offers a decent selection of languages, you can choose your level of proficiency (between beginner, intermediate, and advanced), and it offers speech practice. That’s always a great feature to have. Overall, it’s a good language learning app. 👍

OUTSTANDING APP W/ AN OUTSTANDING TEAM. I was having trouble with my Mondly subscription, but Ioana from Mondly has been very nice and she helped me out in every step of the way, always promptly responding to my questions. It is rare to find companies nowadays that offer the excellent customer service that Mondly has; it values the importance of human connection. In another aspect, the Mondly app is just as amazing as its customer service, and I couldn’t emphasize on it more! I study my Spanish and Japanese with this app and I love how it’s a language app that doesn’t just spoon-feed you and actually makes you think! I love that it offers different levels of difficulties, from beginner to advance, w/c will determine the amount of clues you’ll be getting for the lessons. Anyway, thank you Mondly team for creating such an amazing app! Thank you Ioana for the excellent customer experience! I wish you all the best and I shall continue to support you. ❤️

Not bad, but needs work. The lessons are decent, especially since you can get some basic grammar explanations. What’s lacking is any sort of resources outside of the lessons. There’s no place to practice vocab. No place to get more in-depth grammar. No place to memorize what you’ve learned other than to repeat the lesson itself. That makes it very hard for anything to stick. The only reason I chose this app was because it offers lessons for a language that you can’t find elsewhere. And for $3.99 a month (roughly the price of Duolingo Pro) I’d expect more. That’s half an Apple music subscription! If I didn’t need to learn the language that I do, I wouldn’t bother using this app. Edit: the developer response fails to address my concern. It’s not effective to have to review words/phrases/grammar lesson by lesson. I paid $50 for this app and you want me to go lesson by lesson to review? That’s ridiculous. There needs to be a centralized location, similar to Anki, where you can review everything you’ve learned. I’ve studied a lot of languages and this is an essential part of retaining vocabulary and phrases. Buzz words like “inductive” and “immersive” seem to miss the point. Needless to say I’ll be cancelling my subscription and getting Duolingo once they add the language I need. Clearly the devs don’t care about adding requested features.

Like to see more. Im giving this 4.5 stars. I truly enjoy the app, its just and very refreshing to see that their added new things to it every so often. New languages, new ways to learn. I’ve been using this app on and off for quite some time mostly do to work and everything especially given the time that we’re in. However, the one thing that I would say that is making me give this app a 4.5 out of 5 stars is them taking so long to add new features to the app. Though, I completely understand with software engineering and things like that. Yes, those things take time. I understand. However, there are things that I would like to see be added that I think would change the app around a lot more. That and with the VR side of the app as well too. There really hasn’t been anything added to the VR app. Aside from thoes little flaws. I would highly recommend this app to anyone who wants to brush up on the languages they already know and want to learn any new languages. Some of the grammar could still be working on, but nonetheless. I think this is a good game.

Much better than the language-specific apps. The addition of speech recognition is huge and it seems there have been corrections made when developing this generic Mondly app. I am quite happy so far that I downloaded this newer version and I think the improved experience will likely keep me motivated to continue. For instance, previous language-specific versions (German, Persian) would give me a verbal or text prompt in English that did not match the displayed text, or was not what the app was expecting me to type in. This meant that in order to get the answer right I had to remember which phrases the app had mixed up. In German it was often Du/Sie (informal/formal “you”), in Persian it would be a different phrase/verb altogether. I have yet to run into such a situation with this newer generic app.

One of the only apps offering Bengali. My parents are native Bengali speakers. I grew up listening to Bengali but not learning how to properly speak it. One of my goals was to improve my ability to speak Bengali. There are only 2 language learning apps offering Bengali- Mondly and Ling. I started with Ling, and despite very eye catching animations, the words I was learning didn’t sound correct based on my family’s pronunciation and vocabulary. I then tried Mondly, which has vocabulary I am more familiar with. I also like the chatbot function to help practice having conversations. I know this app still has a long way to go, but as a product manager myself, I believe this app will continue to improve so I am investing in this now. So far, pretty great!

It’s okay, but needs a lot of improvement.. This app is good in terms of layout, but that’s about it. I am learning two languages- french and Japanese. For languages that require characters, anything that’s not the Roman alphabet, they have an option to see the words romanized, which is not good at all. This disables the ability to read and translate the words, and a lot of beginners choose the ‘shortcut’. This app did not teach a single thing about romaji or katakana or kanji... or any structure of Japanese. I’m sure it’s the way for other languages, I chose Arabic before I deleted the app, and it was similar. I am a beginner in french, but the beginner option is far too easy for me and intermediate is the same. I got a question with two options that were correct, technically, but it marked me as wrong. It seems that this app just takes words from the language and inserts it into the same lessons used for all of the languages. Not good for learning languages, look elsewhere.

Limitations but great practice!. This app and Mondly in general is an amazing system for an absolute beginner, someone that knows some basics and wants to review, or even someone like me that at one point, knew far more of several languages. I unfortunately don’t get to use much other than English in my daily activities. And I am or otherwise too busy to remember to practice or organize practice play dates with others that know the languages as well. This is a great way to keep fresh on some practical words. I enjoy the chat features to role play. The AR is fun to use as well! I happen to also have the VR Mondly app for my oculus, which is also neat! If you are serious about this and enjoy it, instead of paying the premium fee, I recommend searching for the lifetime membership. Sometimes they have it for $100 or less and you have unlimited access to premium for the rest of forever. I would recommend this for anyone wanting to dabble in a new language, or those that want to have some basic practice, as to not get rusty.

Great learning tool. I also use another popular learning app, and am using Mondly in conjunction. Mondly is different from the other app. I appreciate the options to select my topic of learning (grammar today? Or travel? Or clothing?) and type of learning that suits me at the moment. I really enjoy the hands-free “chat” which corresponds with each lesson and requires both listening and verbal skills, as well as forces me to think of the correct response instead of choosing from a selection. I also appreciate that those types of exercises are optional and not required to progress because I am more familiar with some topics and don’t always need or want the extra verbal lessons. Highly recommend! Great tool especially in conjunction with other language learning options, as the way the lessons are broken up allow you to work on areas of your personal weakness instead following a one-size-fits-all order of lessons

Learn Tagalog the easy way.. Tagalog language is very easy and fun to learn with this program. Everything is well organized and lessons well explained. The only bad thing is that some sentences, when spoken to you by the App, they don't agree with what you are reading. I have reported them, however, the next time they come up, they continue being wrong. It seems to me that Mondley doesn't review the content, at least that is true with Tagalog Language, where there are several mistakes being reported and they never get corrected. Tagalog is a fascinating language, however, it is a language that cannot be learned by memorizing words. Therefore the teaching should be more like the way you learn in school, and not by memorization; it is too complex to learn the way Mondley lays out its lessons. I have not seen any explanations as to how to change a word from singular to plural or how to understand focus markers, focus pronouns, etc. I believe that maybe everything is included here. However, the presentation needs serious rearrangement. I take language learning seriously. Mondley, now it's your turn to teach seriously!

Lots of glitches and wrong words. Two problems: one is a major problem, the other is just annoying. The first is that there are tons of glitches, at least in the hands free version.I subscribe to this app so that I could learn Greek on the go and not have to look at my screen. But I can almost never make it through a whole lesson because the app keeps saying there is a problem and it doesn’t hear my answers. I might be 75% of the way through a lesson and then I just have to close it out and lose all of my progress because the app won’t respond. The other problem is the inaccurate phrases. Here’s an example. I use this app for Greek. I already speak Greek a B1 level, so I’ve noticed that some of the phrases are wrong. The main thing: in reality, there is no infinitive tense in Greek. When you want to learn a verb, such as “to write”, you actually learn “I write” (γράφω) because there is no such word as “to write”. When Mondly introduces a verb, it always says “γράφω means to write. How do you say to write?” And you have to answer back γράφω or it considers your answer incorrect. This can lead to a lot of confusion when trying to use these verbs in a sentence. I’m really surprised that such a huge inaccuracy made its way to the app. Some of the other phrases are not direct translations (as you would think if you didn’t already know them).

Issues resolved after reinstalling app. Edit: Updated to 5 stars. Uninstalled and reinstalled app after major update and it is now working again. Thanks to the developer for responding. Easy to use and intuitive. Occasionally some minor inconsistencies within lessons.

Very easy to use and understand. I love how simple it is to use and already feel my reading and writing skills have improved faster than any other way I have tried to learn a language previously.

Easy to use app. The Mondly app is not the first language program I have used but it is better than the others. I find it easy to use and enjoy doing the lessons etc... Although I am obviously a long way off star pupil judging buy the accumulated points of others using this app.

Make it cheaper!. Iv been learning a language for a few years and this would be one of the best but this app only lets you complete the first lesson and daily challenges before asking to pay I won’t be paying $50 for an app, please make it so if you don’t want to buy the full game make it so we can buy the next lot of lessons with our points we earn so then we actually get to play the app and don’t delete it and look for a new one that is free coz there are a few. Besides that it’s a great way to learn and is easy app

Excellent app. The app teaches everything a-z. Vocabulary, phrases, pronunciation and the best thing about it is you can repeat the lessons and the things you’ve learned come up in the lessons as well. Usage of vocabulary in sentences is amazing. Only recommendation for people would be to keep notes and write down the meaning of words to learn faster.

Amazing! But.... The limitations without paying for the app are significant and it makes me sad. I’m only a high school student and don’t have access to a lot of money. Please work on allowing us to do more, I wouldn’t mine if there were ads and what not if more content was available for free.

This could be the perfect learning, but.... This would be perfect, except there are quite a few translational errors. Some are just silly oversights on Mondly’s part. Unlike Duolingo you can easily provide feedback if something’s wrong (which is great), but there’s no follow up about what you’ve submitted. Will things ever get fixed? Who knows. You just get left with a less than perfect score. Still, there’s lots to learn and it’s quite relaxing working through things.

I love this app but last update has ruined it. I’ve been loving learning a language using Mondly app and have been making great progress. Unfortunately the most recent update has made the app unusable on my phone- I don’t have the option of typing or voice to text on one of question formats so I can’t answer it complete the lesson. I’ve reported the problem but it hasn’t yet been resolved

BEST LANGUAGE LEARNING APP. Having tried most of the others like Duolingo, Memrise, Babel, etc. Mondly is the best, most engaging, easy to use learning app. The way it progresses through categories, the way the lessons are formatted and saved, the ease of keeping track, plus the grammar applications within each question, all make it the quickest and most effective way to learn. I love it.

Improved. As a longtime language enthusiast and tester for language learning apps and resources I can say this app keep improving so I am giving credit where it is due. If a developer maintains and improves then their customers/users will notice. I am really enjoying the handfree mode. The repetition really helps and the fact they’re actually useful sentences does too.

Such an amazing app, definitely recommend!. This app is so easy to use. It uses repetition through the lessons and activities where you repeat the audio that the bot says, so you can really understand the content easily. Forget Duolingo, Duolingo is hard to use and unmotivating. Definitely recommend Mondly to the people out there who want to learn a new language.

Tôi thích Mondly. Mondly is a great way to start learning a new language. It’s reasonably priced and the app is glitch free, interesting and keeps you motivated through some clever gamification. As far as language apps go, it’s hard to imagine anything better. Nothing beats one-on-one sessions with a tutor. I’ve started learning Vietnamese, and whilst the app got me interested and taught me some basics, I didn’t really start to progress until I started with a tutor. Firstly, you get immediate feedback and support and details about the nuances of the language. Secondly, I find intensives with a tutor help me remember much better. No matter how much I studied with Mondly, much of what I learnt didn’t really stick. Of course the cost difference is huge, so investing in Mondly is a great and cost effective way to get started with your language journey.

Awesome app. The only thing I want is for the developers to add the option to choose if you are a man or woman and then have the app teach you to say Pohm (for men or chan (for women) it teaches everyone to say chan which is not correct for men. Other then that it is an incredible app.

Love love love. I have been searching for an arabic app for years and finally I’ve found one that costs $14 and actually challenges me. I am an intermediate arabic student and being able to select the level before starting was very useful to me. It has all the elements you’d want from a teaching app; listening, speaking, matching, quizzes, daily lessons, spelling, plus a conversation bot that you can talk to. This app is the best one I’ve tried and I’ll be learning some other languages on it too soon enough. Thank you so much!

Too many clues. While the app is nice because it offers Slovak as an option where others do not, I find the lesson tasks make it too easy for the user to select the right answer by deductive reasoning rather than actually forcing the user to think, process and store what they learn. An example is, select the right meaning for a Slovak word where they give you 4 options, each with the English word and a picture. Worse still is, too often when quizzed to spell, the app says a word that is so remarkably like English it’s not teaching anything. E.g. park is park, doctor is doktor, etc. my suspicion is they are doing this to make the user feel like they are learning by selecting the right answer more often then not. This isn’t really learning. To really learn, I have found myself doing the following: 1. taking words from the app to put on index cards with English on one side and Slovak on the other. 2. Replaying the dialogue from the lessons without looking at the screen which gives away the answer too easily. I do this because it forces me to really listen and process to find and store the answer in my head. This app would be better if it had settings to change the way the person is taught in lessons to make it either harder or approach the user in different ways.

Creative and fun. Good colours, activities and levels to learn the basics. The voice over is easy to understand and microphone allows you to know Not sure if I want to buy more levels but may do so I can have a few more phrases other than the basics. You are pronouncing correctly.

Good. Learning languages by app is definitely the future. It’s more natural and interactive without the need to be academically minded. Would be nice if the app could take you places by increasing the difficulty as you progress, as opposed to leading more words and phrases at the same level.

Change subscription. This app on top of Drops are two of my favourite language learning apps however the major let down for this app where Drops does better is that this doesn’t include a “pay once and get access to everything” option which made it accessible for someone like me who gets irregular work shifts that doesn’t allow me to pay a subscription fee. However this app does include relevant topics that Drops does not which is why it frustrates me that Mondly still doesn’t have an option to pay once and have lifetime access to all lessons. Sure if I were working full time I could quite easily pay a regular subscription fee but as someone who unfortunately doesn’t have this luxury I’d love if the developers could consider this as an option for us language learners.

Facebook login. I think this is a great app, but the Facebook login is a mess. Once one person logs in with Facebook that is it, you have no way of loging in with another Facebook account. I had logged on with my wife’s iPad and she now has no way to even select her Facebook account on any of her devices (despite my Facebook in no way being logged in on any of them at the time). A ‘not my account’ functionality really needs to be installed as she lost all her progress trying to create that account. There is no point in the account creation/login where it even tells you what account is being used to log in.

Great choice of subjects. I’ve tried a few free language apps to try and learn Italian but this one is the best so far. I did pay for a years membership after having a week free trial to see if I liked it. Good combination of answering questions by typing and then going into the next part of the lesson to speak and test your pronunciation.

Awesome app.. I only know very very little Croatian but this is helping immensely. I think the repetition is great to get in in your head. Grammar and endings are still a struggle but I am not really concentrating on that at the moment…just trying to get the feel for words. I think that I can understand conversationsa little better already and new phrases and words are starting to stick. Very happy and easy to follow.

Dana. Great app , a lot of content , and also everyday a new lesson to learn . best value to buy the one year subscription then you can access any language you want ,interactive and lots of pictures to help me to remember .

Forget Duolingo. I wasted a year on Duolingo and finished the entire Russian course and yet couldn’t string two sentences together. Back in Mondly for a week and learning new words and more sensible sentences and correct pronunciation. This is an awesome app. ********* Duolingo is like doing the exam before doing the course. Mondly is more like a course that tests you along the way. Much better pronunciation of words too. Not as pretty as Busuu but this is the most effective app I have used to date. Better than Busuu. *********** The more I use this on other languages the more I love it too. Very clever progression of words and relevant sentences along with examples in different grammatical constricts. It is wonderful that you can go back and do previous lessons even years earlier. This allows for intensive word review. Then you can go into dialogues and practice your speaking and listening skills. Plan to resubscribe every year for life. ************** Still loving it. Added more languages now.

Very good……. I gave this a 5 star rating because umm it’s grate but….ya I think it’s a great app for 8 and up because i have had a lot of experience and not one dollar will be payed……any ways it’s really a nice app. So I consider this is the best app for a grown up or chilled to learn a lot of diffrent apps injoy😀😀😀😀💞💞💞

Best language app I’ve tried! Keeps you accountable!. Best language learning app I have tried and will be continuing! The Daily lessons keep me accountable. I have tried many other apps and this is the first that I find genuinely helpful and motivates me to continue. So many different aspects to the app that make it worlds above the others. My only concern is the beginning phase of learning a language and the grammar. I had lessons previously so I could manage however if you have nil experience the initial levels may be confusing without initial grammar lessons. Overall this app is well worth it!

Revised opinion. Well I paid for the premium app, but had real issues when it didn't work. It took a while for their support team to get back to me. However, when they finally did, the outcome was brilliant! Everything works as it should! I am learning Chinese. The app goes rather quickly but it is brilliant as a way of consolidating what I've learnt. So many topics to choose from! You get characters as well! Listening practice, speed gradually increases, as well as speaking practice. Awesome. Jeanie

Japanese is making sense. I’m actually considering buying the full version of this - the free lessons are great, with audio available for every word. You can choose whether you see the words in Japanese or the English version of the pronunciation (although it would be better if the Japanese words were spelt fully in Hiragana, especially for beginners). At the end of every lesson, you’re given a summary of what you’ve learned, including little tips for using Japanese words, which has been so helpful. I always refer back to these when writing notes. Overall great app, would highly recommend for beginners 😊

Mondly is the best. It is a great learning app, especially if you have premium. Then, you can learn much more. If you don’t have premium the app is kinda pointless. Then you can only learn certain things. Other than than, DOWNLOAD NOW!!! 😎😎😎

Mondly makes learning a language fun. There is a new lesson each day to encourage you to practice regularly. There is a great range of languages to choose from. You can set your level to beginner, intermediate or experienced. You can see the top scores from your country and the world providing great motivation to practice each day.

This is an addictive way to learn. I am only a beginner at Japanese but this has proven to be so easy it is addictive. You need a good dictionary as well but this introduces new words along with repetition of learned material. I would like to have the same dictionary that Mondly use as some of the translations are difficult to comprehend but if all you want is a good basis fir understanding spoken Japanese , this is a great tool.

Just what I needed!. Currently I have just began the French and Greek courses - Mondly has already taught me new vocab, using repetition to get the new words stuck in my head! I love that I’m free to do as many lessons as I want and there haven’t been any interruptive advertisements. I’m hoping that I will be able to get far without having to be stopped by silly premium only options.

Fantastic. I was looking for an app to learn danish as it was my dream to learn it, my primary school teaches Italian only and my high school doesn’t teach danish either. My mom told me that she put me in French for high school which sounded pretty good. I found French and I’ve learnt so much. I rate this app ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. It is totally worth it.

There are so many subscription offers. at the start the app was so great!!!!! But as soon as I got past the first chat box lesson the app didn’t let me go to the second lesson even though I finished the first one and now I can only have daily lessons because I don’t like paying for Subscriptions to learn a language.

Good App but Missing Things. Mondly like all these apps misses fundamental elements such as absolute beginners lessons such as an alphabet and a basic explanation of how the new language compares with your known language, then lessons on a list of basic words! After the user does what is in the App, it should have really advanced lessons for more grammar etc. Plus long passages of text to listen to really hear the new language and so on!

I regret paying for this app. I’ve tried many different apps for learning languages and this is one of the worst ones for the following reasons: 1) No Space Repetition built-in, so you’ll need to track which words you need to review by yourself. 2) Word-to-words translation when each word in all languages can be translated to different words depending on the meaning and context. 3) Each lesson can only be studied 10 times and you’ll earn only 1 XP each time you relearn it after that, very discouraging. On the plus side, the daily lessons and monthly challenge are fun but alas you can’t see the previous month’s leaderboard result, so you’ll never know your final ranking...

Well made. I really enjoy learning with this app! It’s helps with connecting with my friends who speak Afrikaans, we all love joking about how bad I am aha. The only issue I have with this is the constant “Subscribe to learn faster!” After each lesson I have. Maybe just the every once in a while would be much better.

Great for Rusty Speakers. I used to be able to speak, read and write mandarin as a second language, but after I finished school my education stopped. This app has been a great opportunity for me to relearn these skills, including speaking. The only feedback I have is that I think the app could appear a little clearer with the recommended order that you do the lessons in, and that there isn’t a writing function - although I imagine that would be very hard to integrate. Otherwise I love the reminders and use this every night, and all my vocabulary is gradually coming back to me!

Reading and speaking. I’m a visual learner, so learning Thai was always going to be a challenge given the script is different. This app really helps by combining the written ( transliterated, romanized) words with the native speaker and visual cues. I also like that it’s self paced, ie click to continue, not just fixed silence space in an audio tape, and easy to replay when needed. Better than a book, better than audio only, has the best of both.

Awesome. I love this app. I’ve only been doing it for a few days but it’s addictive and I look forward to finding little bits of free time to learn Finnish on Mondly. It’s so well designed and has surpassed my expectations. I love the voice recognition and the conversation exercises. I’m doing it just for fun and to keep my mind active and it’s ticking both of those boxes. The Finnish is going in to my mind and I’m understanding so much so quickly. I’ve looked into a lot of apps and this one is by far the best. I have found no negatives at all. Well done to the designers!

Amazing and free for 9 lessons 🤯. If you are looking for a app to learn a new language that is free for a hike longer than others and amazing than Mondly is here. I tried learning French and I have only been learning 3 days and I know so much already🙂 I defiantly recommend this to everyone beginner or advanced ☺️

Been waiting for this.. Been waiting for duolingo to put Croatian in the app for years to no avail. Stumbled across this app and it’s just as good just not as pretty but uses the same techniques for teaching. Finding it really useful and excited to finally learn my language.

Absolutely brilliant!. This app is amazing. I have been looking for Lithuanian language lessons online for a while. Mondly is fun, very easy to use and interactive with so many lessons and real life examples. Plenty of opportunity to practice and repeat the lessons. I am loving this app and highly recommend it.

Love it!. This a pretty cool language app. Have tried all of the others, but keep coming back to this one. I have a visual impairment, and have found all the other apps I have tried to be very hard to see. This one is easy to see and read, and has plenty of awesome features to keep you motivated.

Much deeper study than Duolingo. When I initially started with Mondly, I was a bit put off by the interface design - probably because I am so used to Duolingo. Since Duolingo doesn’t have Catalan for English speakers, I had no other choice. However, after a couple of weeks with Mondly, I am pleasantly surprised at how quickly I am progressing, and how easy it is to review core concepts. Both Mondly and Duolingo follow a game-based approach, with the option to compete on leaderboards and follow friends. However, here are a few clear differences I have seen, and where I think Mondly has the advantage: - Mondly makes the grammar clear, and makes the conjugations of verbs very quick to look up. - The ‘brain map’ concept with all the associated words and phrases are brilliant for quick review. - Multiple learning paths are available, and you can pick to do more than the daily lesson at any point, and it is very clear what you have already done and what not. I will be interested to see my progress in about 4-6 months, once I’ve mastered some of the basics.

I love this app!. Mondly is an awesome app. It teaches pretty much everything you need to know about a language and how to communicate with others. It features written and spoken lessons, and also conversations. It is definitely worth subscribing and isn't really expensive, at all!

Great app!. This app is very user friendly and extremely easy to use. It’s definitely my favourite language learning app as it covers a broad range of topics, there’s no limit as to how many times it lets you practice different stages, you can move along as you please (e.g I would rather learn about talking about films than business, so I can skip the business part and go straight to entertainment). It’s definitely the most accurate app in terms of the language itself and also gives you the options to look at the past, present and future tense of a word, which I haven’t seen on any other app. I would strongly recommend this app above all overs, and I’ve downloaded a lot of language apps. If you want to learn the language and cover a broad range of topics this is the app for you. Hopefully they keep adding more content, 5/5.

Indonesian for beginners.. This course seems to suit me better than most I have tried. The words and phrases are actually useful. I like that there is a vocab list and verbal confirmation as well as repetition. Visual linking with pictures also helps. I am a four year trained teacher with several specialist teaching certifications and teaching awards and this curriculum ticks all the boxes for me.

Fun and engaging. Apart from the microphone not always picking up what I’m saying (could also be that I’m not pronouncing it correctly too) I’ve picked up far more Czech on this app than I feel I could have using some others I’ve tried. Fun and engaging, well done.

Helped so much! But one thing.... Before I downloaded Mondly I thought it would be I’m possible to learn German but when I downloaded Mondly (which has over 33 languages you can learn) I was a pro! I really recommend it! But there is one slight problem, there’s premium and it has such a limit of what you can do. When you don’t have premium you can do daily lessons, weekly quiz, monthly challenge, Hello and chat bot. Apart from that it is great, I love and you will too!🤩🥳🤓🙂🇩🇪

Mondly. Learning a new language, you think it's hard. I have great news for you. Mondly makes it so easy, you have probably been putting off learning a new language because of this. Good.. I am enjoying this app. Don’t fool yourself. Learn ing Chinese is not easy. You need to be committed and this app helps.

Très bien. Ludique

Trop d'importance à des mots presque inutiles. Timbre, lettre…. Il manque des mots comme chargeur. Le mot taxi revient trop souvent. C’est presque universel et facilement compréhensible partout. Il faudrait avoir la possibilité de raccourcir encore plus les commentaires du système.

C’est muy bièn.. Appli intêressante permettant l'apprentissage de l’español.

Enjoying this more than Duolingo :). I became bored with Duolingo’s Turkish learning method after participating every day for a year. It felt dry and repetitive. Decided to switch to Mondly and I am so glad. It’s fun, colourful, engaging. I feel it evolving as new lessons and topics are added frequently. Thank you! Teşekkür!

Mondly. Fantastic app everyone should have it

Calificación 5. Es muy interactiva

Easy and fun.. Lessons are quite short, which makes it easy to review and not overwhelming.

Mondly is great. Great learning tool for acquiring languages

5 Stars. 5 Star

Mondly. This is the best .

Awesome. Great app for languages learning.

Portuguese is not Portuguese. The Portuguese course is teaching Brazilian pronunciation. It’s almost as if they copied and pasted the Brazilian course and threw a Portugal flag on there. Worst of all… I can’t figure out how to get a refund.

Intuitivo. Muito intuitivo , acredito que tirando as abas de pagamento para a pessoa aprender a dinâmica do aplicativo seria muito mais fácil da pessoa adquirir, depois que aprendesse a dinâmica do aplicativo.

Très facile d’apprendre. On peut choisir ce qui nous importe d’apprendre

Pretty good. Привет! It does cost a little bit of money but that’s okay! Пока сука😘💅

Très stimulant!. La présentation est très belle et stimulante. Mieux que B***l !

Conversational and Helpful. I have been using Mondly for just a little bit of time but it seems to be helpful in that it teaches phrases and real conversation, not just vocabulary. Great app.

Great ear training. It brings language learning down to the basics and builds all the skills up together functionally

Enjoying the app. So far so good.

Assez bien, français d’Europe. Faut s’adapter au français d’Europe, donc des fois ça donne des erreurs si on emploie le français du Canada.

Ludique et facile. Cette application sympathique est facile à utiliser avec son interface amusante. Je recommande vivement.

The best. I mastered 4 languages overnight. Okay not really but I totally feel like I can master multiple languages with this app

Disappointed. Boring.. This app could be good except for the boring, repetitive, hands free section. You get the same encouraging remarks over and over and over again in a condescending voice. I now dread doing this section! Also I signed up for the intermediate level, but was given the beginner. That adds to my boredom as well. Disappointed, after reading a good review that convinced me to sign up.

Why. Why do you need a seven day free trial if the app is already free

Very good. Very good

Poor customer service. I‘ve asked to cancel my subscription before renewal date and I was charged anyway.

Works well. I am really enjoying this app and have learned a lot so far.

Esthétique, bien ficelé, plaisant d’utilisation. J’apprécierais cependant comme nouvelles fonctionnalités un ajustement de difficulté pour les utilisateurs plus avancés, une option pour diminuer le nombre de revues dans le chat. Sommes toutes par contre, je la recommande.

Great. It was great for learning

Hébreu. J’aime le changement dans la méthode d’apprentissage

Nice. Very well

Very easy to use. Faster way to learn because I can retake lessons and I am memorizing the words so quickly as well

Unfixable pop up. This was a great app and I loved the concept using AI. But now there is a pop up for a new years sale that keeps coming up and you cannot click away from it and it never disappears so I cannot even access the app. It’s like you have to purchase it otherwise u can no longer use it..

Excellent app. Very nice app. The AI part makes it worth the money! I am happy to use it. Very user friendly and interactive.

A1. Très pratique pour pratiquer sa prononciation

Paid version is good. Free version still gives you good daily stuff though

Japanese. This teaches incorrect phrases/words which I only realized after taking an actual Japanese class

Great language learning. Excellent value, highly recommended

Engaging. This app makes learning Bengali engaging and fun.

Fraud. They tell you that your subscription’s payment start after 7 days and you can evaluate the app in meanwhile, but the money will be deducted from your account immediately after subscription.

Nice pace; many choices. You need to learn the alefbet and how the Hebrew letters are pronounced before starting this app. That can be done with Duolingo. Then expand your knowledge with Mondly Hebrew. Each lesson can be done in a few minutes and there are many categories to chose from. I like the pace and the options 👍

good. Would need more grammar explaining but overall great, easy to use and fun

A lot of languages. Finally an app that has Afrikaans!!

Smart and easy to navigate. User interface design Very functional Perfect use of AI Smart way of choosing content It is just theimproved version you wished Doulingo developed

Easy to use!. Customer service/tech support is fantastic. I really like this app.

Amazing. I m brishing my Spanish and mondly is a great and interactive app. Super cool!

What happened??. Deleted my progress I went away for a day and a when I came back ALL my pro was gone!!!!

Très bonne. Très bonne application j’ai apprit très vite et simplement

Mondly. You do have to pay for it monthly, but it is amazing

Ummmm. The technology here seems great at first, the chat bot would be so effective at simulating real commutation. But then the suggestions given by the app aren’t always correct (I checked with native speakers) and the chat bot often doesn’t understand the meaning of my response even when it is exactly one of the suggestions it gave me and it appears on screen in perfect text. I tried two languages and found the same weird issue in both. I’m asked where I’m from and I say I’m from the USA, and even though speech to text transcribes it perfect in both languages the speech bot says it doesn’t understand. This happens over and over until I just close the app. Lol Sooooo bizarre. Now I feel bad for spending money on every language they offered because I’m never gonna use any of it.

Fantastic Customer Service and App. I have just has a multi-day email dialogue with Mondly customer service. The folks I spoke to were polite, pleasant and super helpful. They were concerned with my issue and made all attempts to fix it. And did. I purchased a premium subscription for a language a couple years ago. When I switched phones the premium access was gone. After providing my receipt from iTunes and some trouble shooting it is all back. Thank you Mondly! Your team is great! The App itself is super. I have studied languages my entire life and have several Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur packages and I keep coming back to this App. It requires very little work for me to use and I find I am successful with the methodology.

You’ll get stuck behind a paywall. I thought I would try this app given all the good reviews. I thought using more than one app would help me learn languages faster and more thoroughly. Unfortunately, you can only do two units with Mondly before you’re stuck behind a paywall and forced to pay to continue learning. No thanks. I’d rather use DuoLingo which is free. At least with Duo you have the OPTION to pay for premium but it’s not required to continue learning. Granted, this app does give you a very cheap option for monthly fee. But I can’t get behind forcing someone to pay a fee, no matter how cheap, for a service that others are providing for free and with more accuracy. This app uses incorrect vocabulary right from the start. I’ve been lucky enough to become friends with some natives in other countries that are willing to help me on my language learning journey. They were quick to point out errors with this app.

Great app but they seem to feel the need to pad their reviews. I’ve been using this app for a little more than a year now. I like to practice languages before traveling. Last year I practiced Spanish. This year it is French. I’m speaking more with this app than I did with Duolingo which is very helpful. I’m finding my speaking skills are slowly catching up to reading and comprehension. My only complaint is that I feel I am constantly asked to give them 5 star ratings on the App Store. I have given several 5 star ratings already, but at least once every few weeks a link pops up and asks for another one. I can dismiss the link, but it will continue to pop up every day until I respond. Other apps don’t do this. I feel it invalidates the star ratings to some degree. I’m taking off a few stars for this reason only.

Good app, not perfect. I bought the 1 year subscription to all the languages because I study Spanish, French and Portuguese. I like the way it doesn’t completely hold you to a script but sometimes the audio is off. I only know because I’ve had Brazilians try a couple of the bots and it won’t accept their pronunciation either. I think this can still be ok but it also won’t let you proceed without getting the pronunciation right. Also, there are times where the audio says one thing but then it later says you learned something else. An example is “onde é a estação ferroviária?” But at the end it said that I learned “estação de trem.” I did learn an equivalent but not it wasn’t that exact phrase. So as I said, I enjoy the app but it’s not perfect.

Good customer support, good app. The app is good itself and I learned a lot in just one day. However, I bought the subscription for a month, to try the premium they advertise a lot, which looked cool, but it didn’t work. I went to the support, tried what they recommended (didn’t work), and emailed them. I got a bot email saying they are on vacation for a week. Edit: I emailed the actual email that is written in the reviews replies, and got a response a few hours later, so make sure you email that one! They emailed the developer and got it fixed right away :) It’s good for at least learning French, Italian, Spanish, and the main languages, but I’ve heard about some inaccuracies with Asian languages and such with different alphabets. In summary, recommended! Five stars.

Best Catalan/English App I’ve Found. Overall, I highly recommend the Catalan course if you understand a little Catalan. Pros: -Easy to use -Self paced -The lessons are short so you can do one or several in a day. -Enough repetition of words in a variety of ways to help reinforce learning -If you make a mistake with a word/sentence, it will present the word/sentence in a different way to help you get it right -There are hyperlinks with translations if you need help with a word -The content covers most common situations -The lessons focus on one subject and you can pick any subject you want to focus on. -The course seems to add content periodically Cons: -Doesn’t translate exactly sometimes. For example, It will translate the equivalent of “Do you know a good restaurant” to “Do you know some good restaurants”. -It appears to use English slang versus American which will be confusing in some cases for Americans -It uses the formal you versus the informal. I really need both. -Doesn’t offer an easy way to learn verb conjugations. It does mix different conjugations in the lessons but I believe it would be beneficial to have lessons that focus on the conjugation of one verb at a time.

Easy to use. It’s good starter program to learn conversational Hebrew, especially if you have some prior knowledge of the language and it’s grammar. It’s not always crystal clear when they are using male or female forms of verbs, requiring a little outside study to figure how you would say a phrase in different situations. It also will introduce a vocabulary word at the beginning of a lesson, and then the remaining examples use a synonym for that word, like “cafeteria” and “miznon”; which can be confusing at times. The lessons are short and have a lot of repetition to help you remember better, translating from Hebrew to English and English to Hebrew and typing out some sentences. The bonus point system means very little to me, although I guess it’s supposed be motivating.

It keeps you interested. Immediate feedback. Even when you give a partially correct answer, it tells you so, and encourages you to keep trying instead of the “WRONG ANSWER” buzzer. It covers many subjects, and the graphics are well done. I like it and it is worth the cost, which is not expensive. The quality is worth it. I signed up for a year which works out to about 1 dollar/week. I’m sure almost anyone could afford that if acquiring a good start in Spanish is important to you. The only reason I I didn’t give 5 stars is that initially it was not clear in what direction to go for the lessons, sign out , etc. but with constant use you will figure it out.

Gives you all the answers, you don’t need to learn anything to go further. I’ve only had it two days and I got this to try and keep in practice over the summer with the French I learned in school. Some phrases are different than the ones I’ve been taught at school and the text to speech voice has no accent. It teaches words (kind of) and throws them into a sentence. I’m not learning or remembering anything. Outside of the lesson(s) there is ZERO repetition. The chat bot is not helpful either as it gives you all the answers. This gives you the option to feel satisfied by going up level by level but you don’t have it put ANY effort into remembering and still achieve a high level and make it seem like you “know the language” but you don’t. It gives all the answers. Not to mention the constant “PLEASE GIVE US MONEY FOR BETTER LESSONS” popups.

Mondly Bulgarian. I live in New York and I met my girlfriend when she came to America with a work visa. I’ve learned a decent amount of Bulgarian from her and her family when she was here and more so when I went to go visit her in Bulgaria for New Years. Other translation/world language education apps don’t include Bulgarian, so it was great to find one that did — Mondly! I’ve only just started, but this app has solidified what I’ve already learned and taught me so much more! The app is very user-friendly and rewarding. Every lesson I complete makes me want to keep on to the next one. I can’t wait to impress my girlfriend when I see her again soon. Thank you Mondly!

Mondly. I am learning Urdu and it helps me so much!! I can finally find an app that helps me learn the national language of Pakistan 🇵🇰. I really like this app because now i Can tell my family what I‘ve learned so I can finally talk with them. No more being the odd one out! ( thanks to Mondly) I definitely recommend this app to anyone who wants to learn a new language. Diverse lessons, such as, ordering food, signaling a taxi, animal names. And daily lessons, weekly quizzes, and monthly challenges! Or should I say, Mondly challenges! Haha! It’s a great app. Like SO many lessons. And so many languages. So if you’re looking for a new language, you know where to go. (Sorry for making this long) ☺️😂 Bye! Hope you learn something new with Mondly!

The best for learning Bulgarian. This is by far the best app for leaning Bulgarian. It doesn't do a particularly good job. It doesn't explicitly teach any grammar. It often gives the wrong clues when words are ambiguous. Many times it doesn't have the questions match the answer. However, sometimes it is correct about things that don't seem to make sense. Then one day you might read about some crazy grammar construct with exceptions to the standard spelling or stems, and then you realize it does have a way to practice understanding some obscure stuff. It excels in teaching simple grammar of nouns and adjectives. It is very weak at teaching verbs, prepositions, gerunds, and anything else other than nouns and verbs. However what it does to it tends to do well.

Mondly is great!. I decided to try this app on a whim. I am currently learning Mandarin Chinese as I am fascinated with the culture. I’ve tried so many different apps and approaches including Pimsleur, tutors, and Duolingo. I can confidently say that Mondly is the best. The questions are immersive and help me memorize terms, there is a free daily lesson, and a weekly quiz. It reviews terms at the end of each lesson, and you can go back and review old terms. There are other languages on Mondly, too. You can also do hands free lessons. Mondly has truly made me love Mandarin Chinese. I would highly recommend this app. And the best part, there are NO ads!

Mondly. It is a best version of a language “game” by dividing comps into monthly segments. However the point balance is heavily favored towards daily games. If you want to win points, daily lessons gives you the most points per question. It would be nice if they weighted the scoring system more evenly so the regular/paid for lessons have at least the same value, aka not twice the number of questions for the same points. Right now, I am loving the speaking component. Push the record button and it writes what you are saying. To access this feature you have to set it to advanced. It works like talk to text. Sometimes it takes awhile to figure out how to pronounce some words correctly. It has been great for my conversational confidence.

Mondly review. Thank you for sharing this enjoyable app. I have participated regularly & enjoy Duolingo. Your lessons are far more engaging & expanding. I do wish, though, that there was more conversational exercises. Keep it coming Thanx, Darryl Cuda Again, I very much appreciate Mondly. It is good, daily reinforcement of learning...what I like to call, the key to adult learning. Lessons are clearly the best. Aside, could U please tell me why many monthly challenges have “1 point”. Do you need to correct something? Also, I think your most recent change involves too much typing. Writing things is beneficial, but I think you’ve overdone that learning tool. Thanx again Darryl Cuda I’ve changed my mind...somewhat. The actual burden of typing so much is beneficial. Still, more moderation is needed. About 30-40% less would probably be a reasonable amount to still allow memory reinforcement. There are still abundant errors with daily/weekly/monthly points which instead of 13 points, 43 points, etc, come up as 1 point. Please fix that! Also, more frequent new material, without redundancy is a must. It’s not that hard guys, I’m sure you can show more creativity. Nevertheless, I still love the site Darryl Cuda

Not great for learning. First of all, props to you for including less common languages. I’m Croatian and my American husband really wants to learn, but there are virtually no online resources for the language and the paper based resources are very grammar oriented, which isn’t helpful to someone who just wants to get by when we’re on vacation! However, the app itself isn’t much good. He tried a few lessons and didn’t actually learn a single word he didn’t already know because most of the time you’re just matching an English word to a picture (with the Croatian word there but not prominent) or you’re translating a convoluted phrase that hasn’t been introduced. As someone who is fluent in three languages and conversational in three more, I took a look at what was going on with the app and I can promise you that you will not learn Croatian from this (maybe the other languages are better, but I doubt it).

Good app but could be better. I’m enjoying learning Thai with this app. I like the format of the lessons, and I like how I can change between the written Thai language and more traditional English looking letters. The one thing I wish to be improved would be to initially teach the sounds/Thai alphabet so that you have a better chance of reading and pronouncing the words correctly. I mostly use the English letter alphabet to learn the words, which may mean I might be able to speak and listen to the language, but not being able to recognize the written words or how to write them since I don’t know which character makes what sound, I don’t think I would be able to walk around Thailand and read signs or papers, which is disappointing.

No teaching component. Mondly’s biggest weakness is the lack of a teaching component. Learners are on their own to figure out word gender, formal vs informal speech, and sentence structure. Those who already know those basics will find that the lessons in Mondly (for French, in my case) don’t go very deep - sentence structure is too simplistic, and too much time is spent “learning” how to speak and spell words that are exactly the same in English: hotel, bus, taxi, etc. Its “hands-free” mode provides variety, but can be very frustrating at times especially when translating homophones, numbers or even sound-alike words. “You said ‘sans coeur’ but the answer is ‘cinq heures.’ Try again.” And then, “You said ‘5 heures’ but the answer is ‘cinq heures.’ Try again.” Arrrgh! After completing all of the lessons in French I’m really no further along in fluency than when I started.

Great!. I enjoy this app as a young teen trying to learn Norwegian. I wanted to read a book on it but i never could find one. So i looked in the app store to find this! This app is amazing and i love it, i use it everyday so that i can learn more words and getting the premium is worth it! I havent tried it but i garenteed i will. Heres a little feedback from me though. I feel like you should start out with more basic words like colors and such without premium because once you are on there and just click on a language to learn, you are automatically doing sentances and phrases based on the level you are at. I think that you should focus on one portion and as a advanced you can use bigger phrases, words, and sentances.

Great improvement. I find this new version has far better in accuracy that the previous one I had experienced. The cost is a huge value if you are self motivated and use it! I think the interactive voice conversations are a tremendous leap forward in becoming more comfortable in actually speaking the language when you are in a real life situation that you can utilize it in a class or in practical situations in your daily life. It's corrective function is beyond by expectations ! This is what has been missing the missing piece in my desire to learn my parent's ancestral language . It's like having a native speaking tutor on call when I have the time and motivation to work on fore filling a promise I made to myself and to my late parents to keep my Hellenic roots alive! I will say that the help line is pretty responsive but you need to be patient . Currently , they have a 2 day response time but you do get a polite and helpful answer ! I was told they are working to upgrade the system. I would definitely recommend this platform now for the current Modern Greek language series! 🇬🇷

German (beginner level). I am enjoying the app and find the voices clear and easy to understand. So far I’ve been studying French, Spanish, German and Italian. The first three I studied in high school or in college. German, not being a Romance language, has grammar that has always been a challenge to me. I would like to suggest that in the grammar lessons you give the gender of nouns that will be used in the sentences. Also will you please mention the case? It has been many years since I studied German and I need to be able to relate case and gender to the endings on adjectives and articles. Yes, I am too old to pick this up by observation! LOL. Thank you for considering this.

My opinion after 50 plus days. Overall I think the app is great. I have been using my time to try to learn Spanish. I took three years in high school but did not retain much. That being said I think there could be more attention given to the boring stuff like grammar and synonyms. Many times I am working on a lesson and the program adds a syllable to a verb but the app does not explain why. That can be frustrating. Also there are so many ways to say the same English word in Spanish and that can be frustrating as well. For instance, a toilet in Spanish can be an inodoro, a servicio, or a bano (and there maybe more ways as well). So maybe a few lessons on that would help too. But overall the app is great and the price was great. Well worth the money spent.

Underrated educational tool. Shockingly powerful for something so far down the search list for languages. This is education that’s fun, not a game that barely educates. Within two lessons I had usable knowledge that was immediately practical, but also some reference screenshots that will help me as I work at going from zero to expert. Easy to begin too. No account nonsense. Also this has languages some of the popular apps don’t have, with these rare ones done just as well done as the top few languages. Satisfied with my new learning app. Will be ready for my business travels soon.

Very Intuitive App. Mondly makes learning as easy as possible. All of us spend spare time on our phones so having something educational at your fingertips is a great way to turn spare time into learning time. Through the apps short daily lessons you will soon find phrases and words easy to understand. Also on a side note the app is very smooth with no crashes which is very rare for this type of educational app... Even if your currently using another service to learn a language I would highly recommend at least giving it a trial and seeing how this is better than the other competitors. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Great learning platform for Tagalog. I have been using this app for about a week now. It is an enjoyable app for beginners to learn the basics of Tagalog. The app has pleasant visuals, graphics, and a real person’s voice recorded to help with pronunciation. There are many lesson topics to keep the learner busy, a leaderboard to show where the learner stands compared to others learning, and stats on words and phrases learned and days and time spent learning. The only critique I have so far is that they teach a subject-verb-object format which is not generally used in everyday Tagalog conversation. Tagalog speakers usually places to Verb (action) word prior to the subject or pronoun. Other than that the app is very good and I’ll keep using it to build vocabulary.

My Marvelous, Magnificent Mondly. I once used an app called Duolingo. I had 5 hearts for all of the tests I did. When I got an answer incorrect, I lost a heart. When I finally ran out of hearts, I had to do a practice lesson just to get one heart, then I could do an actual test. I didn’t want to deal with all that ridiculousness! When I finally got Mondly, if I ran out of stars, (which I rarely do) I only had to start the test over. Also, on Duolingo, I couldn’t redo the test, like I can on Mondly. Also, I had to unlock each category after I did the previous one. Duolingo was fine, but Mondly is better. I’m glad I got it.

I'm confused. The app is fun in the beginning stages, and helpful for vocabulary and phrases. Past beginner, it gets repetitive and is not well constructed, learning wise. It asks for difficult vocabulary it hasn’t presented, for example, and is mind numbingly repetitive. Different languages are presented differently... German is mostly ‘tap on the correct word’ while Greek is mostly “write out the full sentence.” Same material takes me twice as long in Greek! The conversation part is something I’m just starting to play with, and so far, think it may be helpful. I enjoy the competitive aspect, but still don’t understand how some people can rack up such high scores. I also like the daily quizzes, but wonder why no work on tenses.. everything is present tense.

Unlike other language apps I’ve used. So far I love everything about this app. It helps you with the pronunciation, has pictures as a hint if your confused and corrects you if you say the word wrong and it even has like a guided conversation part to help you practice for an actual conversation in real life. And for languages with characters like this 커피/你好, they have the romanized version in case you haven’t learned what those characters mean. As someone who’s interested in languages, I would really recommend this app to anyone who’s interested in learning another language.

Could be the best language app if.... This app was so far the best I could find to learn Spanish due to one important thing! Teaching relevant words and joining them into phrases and teach them all together. This is what you cant find in dulingo or memrise. But this constant alarming for subscription makes the design so low. There are so many people who can’t transfer money due to sanctions just like me in Iran and I’m all the time bothered with subscription alarm when I wanna go to next lesson. Yes I would buy the pro If this wasn’t my country’s situation but think about teaching with ads and making it free for people like us. I will have to delete this app and get back to memrise cause it no longer lets me use freely.

This App is great. I personally Really like this App because You can do so many things on it!! You can have Conversations with the app, It gives you A FREE lesson everyday! It counts the days you Miss too! And There is a Scanning thing where I think you scan Something and it’ll tell you what is Is I think? But anyways It’s also very cool Because you don’t have to spend hours And hours Learning this stuff! NOPE! All you need to do is take 15-20 minutes out of your day And that’s it!! It also Records what you’ve learned and you can go back and review as well!!there is The leadership board where you can See who is the top Learner!! Because every time you Learn something you get points for it! So it’s like a competition to see who can Get to 1st place!!!! it’s fun

Good features with a problem. This app has several good features for learning a language. However, a major feature of the language is practice in speaking. The app will ask you a question and you are to answer in the language you are studying. In principle, this is a good idea. But I don’t think the AI is quite up to the task. I am studying Korean. I lived in Korea for a number of years, and I know my pronunciation is quite good. But especially when speaking longer sentences, the app consistently cannot understand. It will ask me to repeat, over and over again. And then, with no real change in my pronunciation, it will suddenly get it and say that I did it right. So in theory, the pronunciation practice is good. But it would require a live teacher to really do it properly. As it is, it is very frustrating.

Language that was hard to find. I have been looking for an app that could help me learn Latvian. This is the first one I have found! It is hard to learn a language through books when you aren’t sure exactly how to pronounce certain words. With Mondly I am learning not only how to pronounce correctly but it is also helping me learn important phrases. With this it has been easier to learn on the app and with my books. I am able to talk to my grandmother in Latvian with simple greetings and sentences. I hope one day I can talk to her fluently, thanks to Mondly for getting me started in the right direction!

Garbage. I installed the app and paid for lifetime access and I have access to virtually nothing. There is a window where they ask you to translate a sentence and it is only one word with the letters to spell that word showing, nothing on that page will respond to any input except cancel the lesson. You cannot advance beyond that broken page. Everything is an extra charge for premium access that I have already paid for and I am not getting any of it. This app is a complete ripoff, just like their telephone company they cannot make anything that works. They will take your money seamlessly but will not allow you anything that you paid for. They want a separate login and won’t accept anything that you enter on the login page either then they want you to link to social media accounts so they can track and sell more information about you. I wanted to learn the basics of a new language and all I have learned is how to get ripped off.

This app is wonderful.. This app has everything I ever wanted from a language learning course. I will be purchasing other languages besides the Persian. It is so nice to be able to switch back-and-forth between Latin and Persian alphabet. The recorded audio is very pleasing to listen to. I love that it gives you the phrases as a review at the end, and the graphic is always really satisfying after completing a lesson. Finally, I have no idea how the points are allocated, yet, but the elements of gaming and competition really does make you want to complete another lesson. Excellent job, Mondly. Thank you so much for helping me learn languages.

Super good way to learn a little everyday. This app was recommended to me by my mom who knows my dream is to live in Japan for a few years. I was a little worried that it might be hard to learn and take classes at college, but this app can be something you learn from 5 to 15 minutes a day! The only problem I sometimes have is that when I speak into the speakerphone that the app does not pick it up right away if at all. It’s not such a big deal for all the other parts but can be hard when learning how to pronounce things on your own. Also good job designers! A person with Auditory Processing Disorder is able to learn a second language! Trust me when I say that it is a huge accomplishment! Looking forward to continuing my lessons!

Good way to learn a language. I have used Roseta Stone, Dou Lingo, and now Mondly. They each have their pros and cons. I seem to be learning fairly quickly with Mondly but some of the translations are very rigid compared to Dou Lingo. It’s not terrible, but it is frustrating to know the answer, but get it wrong because I use a synonym or a phrasing that I think is more correct than the only one allowed. I also found the terms used in each app for the same thing can be different. One last frustration is that when typing in English the autocorrect is off but in Dou Lingo it’s still on. But overall I am learning and using Two different apps at the same time seems to work better for me. An update to my review is that I am progressing at a good rate and I do recommend Mondly.

Probably the Best App So Far For Languages Besides Babbel, BUT.... It's hard to be able to keep practicing a language when you don't live around the native speakers. This app is great for that. The feature that allows you to have simple conversations with a bot really helps me a lot. Some suggestions I will make is that when you get done with one level, you should be able to unlock the next for free. I'm sure that won't change, but that's probably going to keep most people from deleting this great app. Perhaps, make a poor system? With a point system, we can rack up enough points to use it to buy more levels. At least Babbel is free! However, Babbel does not have as broad of a language selection.

So many problems. I recommend against using this app to learn languages. I believe it’s not designed well to learn, and, even worse, it teaches things that are unnatural or even grammatically wrong. Issues: (1) unnatural voice recordings that sound like they have the wrong sounds, (2) unnatural conversations that I can’t imagine hearing in real life, (3) conversations that force you to use grammatical and vocab errors as if they’re correct, (4) no apparent difference between beginner and advanced mode (even in advanced mode, I had to say “hello” over and over again). These are things I noticed in two different languages within a few minutes of using the app. I imagine there are more issues if the first couple lessons have all this. Additionally, I think it’s a really bad sign that the makers of a language learning app would be willing to release something without having it carefully checked by native speakers and teachers. Some of the errors are so obvious that I don’t understand how they were included (maybe they used an automatic translator for some of their content?). Mondly will probably respond and say I can follow up via email, but I don’t think it should be up to users to find the specific problems and point them out. That’s what the app makers are supposed to do.

Very good! 🙂. I think that this app is a lot better than what Duolingo has to offer. It has no hearts system, and requires no special purchase to do anything out of the ordinary in the app. I find it to be relaxing, and very addictive! It’s peaceful, and doesn’t have the stress pushing on you like Duolingo has. Even though they do have some ads advertising their premium membership, it still isn’t all that bad. It really is unlike Duolingo, in the fact that it is less helpful for learning a language, but more importantly, it is something that you truly want to do. I haven’t had the app for very long, but I can say that I really love its style, and it’s originality. Really love it.

Feel stalled out on learning grammar. I’ve reached level 20 and find I am not learning more grammar. Vocab yes. Grammar some but it could be more. In the ‘extras’ there are all sorts of things like, booking a flight, going shopping, fun activities etc. these are helpful. However so far, I have only seen 3 grammar sessions and I have completed them. I keep thinking I will get to the end of all the activity lessons and then on to more grammar in the next level but instead, new activity sessions keep being added. Add more grammar sessions please. Or maybe there is somewhere to look I have not figured out? I do like this better than DuoLingo as I found that too cutesie.

Excellent Product!. I’ve only been using Mondly for approximately 1 week, but I’m not a novice when it comes language learning tools. I love how Mondly has a conversation component to their app that allows you to practice actually using the material that you’re learning and have learned, in real life replication. For me, being conversational in my target language, is my goal and this is a wonderful tool to simulate the experience of conversation without the inexplicable pressure of being in front of a live person where your nerves seem to magically swallow all of your knowledge. With this type of practice, the likelihood of your nerves getting the best of you, once you have the opportunity for face to face interaction, are minimized because it isn’t as foreign of an experience. (Pun intended...LOL) Bravo Mondly!

Disappointed -Don't use unless you have money. This app is very beautiful! At first I was going to say it was better than memrise , Which is the app that I always use to learn languages, But after it sucked me into it's friendly user interface and easy to learn phrases. I noticed that I couldn't do anything more than learn just a few words and phrases. I was very disappointed because you have to pay 10$ for 1 month and 48$ for 12 months or if you choose this option you can choose to pay 4$ a month. I understand that this is the way they get money to improve the app but it's ridiculous. I was going to recommend it to all of my friends, But now I see that I should tell them to stay away from it unless they have funds for it. You shouldn't have to pay for knowledge, Let alone for something temporary.

Duolingo Break. This app is great if you’re bored with Duolingo. They teach you the languages in a different format than Duolingo uses which I found as a nice change. I was beginning to anticipate what the sentences might say even if I couldn’t actually read them because I had become a custom to the Duolingo sentence structure. I really like that they break the lessons up into topics as well as having daily generic lessons. The hands free mode is by far my favorite feature cause speaking is really the most important part when learning a new language. Also, Mondly seems to have more languages available. I like both apps for different reasons but this one is quickly becoming my go to app for learning.

Fun activities! Love the simulated conversations!. The fun of learning a new language is by speaking it. This app has a good mix of listening, reading, and speaking. Writing would make it even better! That may come later, but I’m already enjoying my experience with this app to learn Finnish! My suggestion is to use this app along with other resources to really learn how the language is spoken by natives. This is a good foundation but think of it as your homework. You will need to study more than one source in order to learn the whole breadth of a language! Overall, this is a wonderful tool to keep with you at all times. You can always check the vocabulary lists and use the conversation simulation in order to practice speaking.

Been using app for 1 year plus!. Best app for learning Czech. I’ve used just about every language learning app there is in the App Store and this one is gold! On top of just learning vocabulary the chat bot is actually flexible in which vocabulary words you use or speak and recognizes it. You are actually able to speak to the chat not rather than text and hear yourself playback in conversation to see how fluid you sound. Also you are able to view words and their conjugations too which is extremely useful when getting deeper in another language. Those are only a few of many more great features this app has to offer.

Great app. I find Mondly is much easier to use and learn compared to Rosetta Stone. Mondly for example lets you click a word in a lesson to see the meaning, which is very helpful in case you forget or haven’t come across the word yet. The difference category for lessons are great to learn whatever you want. The progression through categories of lessons are helpful too for retention. The voice speaking the words seems pretty good when it comes to pronunciation of Polish letters and words. The daily lessons and leaderboards are a nice way to keep an eye on progress. I bought a subscription after the free lessons because it seems well worth it.

Needs More. I bought a one-year subscription but I’m wondering now if I’ll still want to use it a year from now. It introduces all sorts of conjugations with no explanation whatsoever of what tense it is , and its English translations are so loose that, if I didn’t already know a little Spanish, I’d be learning some very wrong things. I don’t understand these apps that don’t translate more literally. If you’re trying to learn a new language, then you need to know what’s being said, not the gist of it, but the actual words. Sure, not everything can be translated literally but don’t translate “we should go to” as “we can visit”. There IS a separate verb for “visit” and it’s NOT “ir”. Not only that, but this is for Castilian Spanish, not Latin American or Mexican Spanish, and the English they use is British! They use “lorry” for truck and “petrol” for gas!! So this app is designed for Europeans only.

Pretty good language app. Lots of good things about using Mondly to learn a language. I like all the different ways you can do the lessons. The hands free stuff worked really well-for the most part. I’m really quite impressed with how far technology has come on this stuff. I probably covered a year of regular language learning in school in just a month or two. The frustrating thing to me is how quickly the lessons accelerate with little explanation. The first 1-3 are pretty easy, and then suddenly you’re expected to know a bunch of material you’ve never covered. Also, I hate the spelling part. I enjoyed using this along with listening to podcasts and other language building activities to get a bit of local language under my belt before a trip. I wish they had a section geared more towards travelers/tourists.

Good for basic vocabulary. I wanted the let the developers know that the chat bot feature could stand to be expanded. The way that it locks you in to only a few responses is frustrating. I understand that you are targeting rank novices; however, even after setting the learning level to “advanced” there is no change. I like the app, but it is in need of better content for higher levels. The language in question is Arabic - I’m not sure if other languages have the same issue. Thanks! I revised my previous review and lowered the star rating - after conducting an actual lesson in Arabic, it is apparent that there are many errors in the grammar and word selection. I can’t speak for other languages, and the app is easy to use and has a lot of potential, but the Arabic content is in need of review.
